bq25185 + TPS61023 = USB or Solar lipoly with 5V output 🔋☀️🔌
We spent the weekend tweaking our bq25185

designs and made one basic breakout for this flexible battery charging chip. Then, we made a board with a 3.3V buck output to charge the battery with a USB or solar panel and got a clean and consistent 3.3V out. With both of those working, here's a design for a version that has a 5V booster with the TPS61023
, which gives a nice clean 1A with a small bill of materials. Now you can use USB, DC, or solar to charge your favorite lipoly or liion chip and get 5V output. Maybe we'll make a version that can handle 3.6V LiFePO4 batteries, too? It's easy to set the bq to handle those by changing a single resistor.

Project Planning Factors: When planning the project two years ago, considering performance, cost, and power consumption comprehensively, the PHY6222 was the most suitable chip, so they chose it.
Recommended by the Manufacturer: However, this possibility is relatively small because they were a small manufacturer at the beginning, and it was difficult for the manufacturer to foresee their development potential.
Final Recommendation
From the current perspective, the main purpose of adding Bluetooth functionality to an electric toothbrush is to connect the interaction between the mobile phone and the toothbrush. Therefore, when choosing a chip, the following aspects should be focused on:
Power Consumption: The Bluetooth part of the toothbrush needs to broadcast continuously, so high power consumption is not acceptable.
Cost: Cost control is always crucial for consumer products.

PCM510x MCLK-less I2S DAC with line level out 🎧💻
We're starting to stock a lot of chips that are able to do digital I2S out, which makes for great-quality audio playback. That's great when you have enough processing power to decode WAVs or MP3s in real-time. However, we could really use some better DACs in the shop. We like the UDA1334A
..., but that's technically discontinued - it's great because it doesn't require an MCLK that some boards like the Raspberry Pi don't have and doesn't need I2C configuration either. The PCM510x is a good family, too; it ranges from the inexpensive PCM5100 (https://www.digikey.com/short/z50cnp0h) to the PCM5102 (https://www.digikey.com/short/80z2nh3h) which has high quality output at a higher cost. This breakout could use any of the family chips & gives you all the GPIO needed with a 3.5mm headphone jack for line-level output.

Remote Control Mode:By connecting to the cloud management system, the KT148A chip supports remote voice content update and function upgrade.
