i love post-canon hansry fics where they're at the devil's den like "wooowww, we are being so stealth and hiding our relationship so well!" (loud cacophony of moans and grunts coming from their room at night, covered in hickeys, hans fumbling it when asked what he was doing at xyz time and/or henry putting zero effort into coming up with convincing excuses, practically sitting in each other's laps, suspicious washing of stained clothes, spending all their time together, coming back from trips completely disheveled and covered in more hickeys)

i still love the ending of all system reds so much. not just because murderbot actually gets to do what it wants without fear of what will happen if its found out but because the places kinda switch.

murderbot half-asses its job initially because it really doesn't want to do it but desbite having hacked its way into free will, it is not at all free. the consequences of being found out are too bad for it to just walk away because it theoretically can.

but once shit hits the fan, murderbot does all it can to defend its humans agains a threat that they are powerless against. it goes above and beyond, really, to keep them safe.

and once the situation is resolved the rolls switch. like, murderbot is down for the whole thing (which is probably for the better because it would be so so stresses about literally every part of it lol) but still.

like yeah their secunit was rouge and man does it have anxiety and it hates almost everything that has to do with social interactions but it still did all it could to keep them save so nope the company will not get that one back

So...how long did it take Floyd to wake up and be coherent? Like, did he drift in and out of consciousness for a while?

How did he react when he first realized he was with Bruce?

I want to say maybe a couple of days? It takes Bruce roughly a day to travel back to Vacay Island from Mount Rageous immediately after rescuing Floyd, then from there it's around another day and a half before Floyd comes to for the first time.

At first he's mostly too disoriented and panicked to really process the fact that it's Bruce (or I guess at this point he'd still know him as Spruce), but after conking out again for another few hours he finally properly wakes up....

....and maybe has to be assured that what he's seeing is actually real

james fitzjames is a man obsessed with appearances.

I think he's a man who believes that to look like something is to be something. If he looks like the loyal Commander, accomplished soldier and proud britishman then he is (create a big enough facade and there's no way to see behind it). If he does a great job-runs a tidy ship, keeps to his Captain Sir John's wishes and maintains camaraderie with and amongst the men, then he deserves his post (but there are always cracks in even the greatest masks). If he keeps his act together, they'll never know the lies he's built himself on (and there are always people who will see through them).

I think in the beginning James is so afraid of Francis because really the line that separates them is thinner than a razors edge. Because he looks at Crozier and sees a past he was lucky to dodge and a future he must avoid at all costs.

I really really wish we saw more of Mabel and Ford bonding in canon. They’re both such interesting and strange characters who would be such an iconic duo. They share so many characteristics with each other that the series tends to gloss over in favour of the more ‘obvious’ comparisons of “smart twins” & “silly twins” and just HOW upsetting is that? I mean, even as early as season 1 (Dipper vs Manliness, Carpet Diem, Boyz Crazy, Dreamscapers, to name the stand out ones) we’re shown comparisons between Stan and Dipper, but as soon as Ford enters the story it’s like they throw it out the window.

Dare I say, Mabel and Ford are a more interesting and exciting duo than Dipper and Ford. And I feel that exploring their relationship would’ve added a lot more exciting nuance to the tail end of the series.

I get more into the dynamics between Dipper, Mabel & Ford under the cut

Dipper, obviously, is going to be obsessed with bonding with THE author of THE journals. But imagine his reaction to his sister spending more time with him than he gets to! Think of a dynamic that mirrors the episode Little Dipper, however I don’t see there being such a quick resolution in this case. Finding the author of the journals was supposed to be DIPPER’s thing, after all! And Mabel is constantly trying to butt her head into their relationship, and Ford doesn’t even seem at all irritated, it even seems like he might enjoy Mabel’s company over Dipper’s sometimes (we saw how he acted with the Robbie/Wendy situation. You can’t tell me he wouldn’t act like this here too)

But to Mabel, she has a new grunkle who also wears sweaters in summer, and is a little different from others just like her, and compliments - even encourages - her grappling hook usage. On top of all that, Dipper must be so excited that they finally found the author of his journal! This is just a super awesome fun new discovery for both of them to remember this summer as they go through the next school year.

So when Ford eventually asks dipper to be his apprentice (and he would still ask this. Even if he’s close with Mabel, he’d be amiss to ignore the obvious love of their shared passion in the paranormal), while Mabel is struggling to plan their joint 13th birthday party, of course he jumps at the opportunity! This is his chance to finally get to know the author and learn so much without his sister getting in the way!

Mabel would hear this, and of course react similarly to canon. However, on top of feeling betrayed by dipper, she would feel very hurt by her new grunkle, who she thought loved hanging out with her and their fun hijinks, could just throw her aside in favour of her brother (based on Little Dipper, we know Mabel’s struggled with that feeling before. And Dipper perpetuating it once again, along with Ford, this new adult in her life can not be easy). I can see Dipper reacting rather selfishly at her hurt here, and raising his justification for his choice to stay with Ford, something that would definitely include the notion that Mabel just “gets in his way”.

I could continue, but essentially it boils down to Mabel having more of a reason to run off during D&MvsTF. (This isn’t to say her reaction in canon isn’t justified, it is. This version of events would just hit harder I think). I’m not entirely sure how the B(ill)lendin rift situation would play out, but if Bill knew that Mabel was not only hurt by her brother, but by Ford, he would certainly play into that and I think that would be interesting. Not to mention, Mabel & Ford post-Weirdmageddon reconciliation would go so hard!

Do people see the vision? Please I can’t stop thinking about it.

hey wouldn't it be fun to give Hunter a bunch of Grimwalker things that no one but Belos knew about and everyone assumes is just Belos being cruel until they try something different and then it turns out it was actually necessary for Hunter's wellbeing?

so like one day Hunter mentions never having ice-scream or cake or really any other type of dessert. and everyone's like "that's so sad we have to get him ice-scream right away." but then Hunter spends the next couple hours being violently ill and it turns out Grimwalkers can't handle processed sugar

or he was never allowed to go to the healers when he was injured and he always had to stitch himself up (or Belos would do it sometimes if it was bad enough). and everyone's completely horrified because that's terrible and evil and what could the point of that be except to make Hunter go through more pain? and then someday he breaks a leg or something and they take him to the healers and it just. doesn't work. nothing happens. and it turns out healing magic is completely ineffective on Grimwalkers

anyway I think it would be fun to make the line between what was care and what was abuse a little blurry every now and again
