The first thing I did was make a Pinterest board filled with dreamy apartment aesthetics. Think: floor-to ceiling windows, soft lightning, cozy corners, neutral tones, minimalist but luxurious vibes. I soaked in those images like it was already mine.

Then I tackled my self concept. Because let's be real: the world mirrors YOU.

I started robotically affirming the same core truths over and over:

༺♰༻I always get what I want exactly when I want it.

I also started listening to the "program your mind to think like GOD" affirmation tape by High Frequency Guru (literally obsessed with her. She is that girl) I played it every morning and night - when my subconscious was wide open.

I also let it loop in the background while I was cleaning, walking, scrolling, watching TV, passive, non-stop affirming like it was my job

Here's the twist tho:

I still felt delusional. I still felt like a fraud. My 3D said "you barely have a place to sleep"

But I didn't care.

I ignored the 3D. I reminded myself that my assumptions create my reality - not the other way around. I kept affirming. I refused to spiral. I refused to doubt. I made it law in my mind.

I didn't have to pay anything.

shifting is literally just becoming aware of another reality right? and how do you become aware of something? you stop looking at what isn't there.

it’s literally detaching from your current reality and attaching to your desired one. like. THAT’S IT.. that’s what every method is trying to help you do. it’s like changing the dial on a radio…..you’re not “running” somewhere, you’re tuning into what’s already there.

and yeah okay. that sounds simple. so like why is it so HARD??

i think this is bcs shifting is suuuper personal. like REALLY personal. it's related to so many aspects of you, what you feel at ease with, what your hopes and fears are… it's like a fingerprint. no one else can do it all for you or paste it onto you.

what that means is some ppl might need approach it differently, some might need to confront internal wounds / fears first, you get the gist.

that's why there isn't a "one size fits all" method or key for the lack of a better word. it's an internal process. tools (scripts, visualizations, affs) are there to help you align w/ the reality you want to experience.

so why the fuck is it so difficult to let go? bcs your whole life you’ve been taught to trust only what you see. what is acceptable in society. even when you wanna leave, the conditioned part of your brain brain freaks out like “wait, what if it’s not safe? what if i’m crazy?” and boom your focus is here.

instead allow yourself to become aware of the reality you desire. not just daydream of it. but feel you are there. what would you think about, care about, or feel? people tackle this aspect in many ways. through visualization. affs. but the core remains the same. you immerse yourself in that reality internally.

it's not about seeing it. it's about deciding.

you can do this at any time (awake, falling asleep, whatever) a huge known way to trick your brain into detaching is releasing focus of this reality, this body, this version of self. that’s also why people always are pushing for the void state method or shifting when drowsy. it’s easier to detach that way.

detach from cr: stop clinging to this reality like it's the sole truth. release thoughts that ground you here. that is what meditation, counting, & deep breathing usually do. quiet the internal noise.

A few years ago I attended a manosphere conference in Orlando, Florida. One of the masculinity gurus was up on stage doing his macho man routine. He talked of ‘alpha males’ and ‘patriarchs’ and there was some Jungian waffle about initiation rituals. Then out of nowhere he began talking about ‘the Js’ acting ‘behind the scenes’. He had sprinkled it into the speech like herbs on a pizza.

At the time I found it quite shocking, though looking back it seems entirely unremarkable, not least because such sentiments have become depressingly common in certain parts of the internet. ‘They [Israel] control the Matrix. They control narratives,’ the accused sex trafficker Andrew Tate told his livestream audience in August 2024. Following his arrest that the same month, Tate also retweeted a post by the American white supremacist Nick Fuentes. ‘Just 2 days after Andrew Tate said that “the Matrix” is really just the Jewish mafia – his house was raided and he was arrested again,’ said Fuentes in the tweet promoted by Tate. Moreover earlier that year Tate had urged his followers to question whether ‘they’ lied about the Second World War and whether the Nazis were really the ‘bad guys’.

Others in the manosphere have gone the same way. Dan Bilzerian, the Instagram playboy whose ostentatious lifestyle made him a hero to adolescent males of all ages during the 2010s, has turned into a full blown Holocaust denier. ‘6 million Jews did not die during WW2, they lied to you,’ he wrote on X in January 2025. ‘Stop calling “them” Globalists, Elitists, Frankists, Sabbateanists, Communists, Deep State, Zionists, Oligarchists, Rothschild Bankers JUST SAY JEWS...’, tweeted Myron Gaines, co-host of the popular Fresh&Fit podcast, in August 2024. Others in the masculinity huckster scene talk of being ‘Jewpilled’.

The 2000s manosphere was largely made up of pickup artists. They were misogynists to be sure and displayed a cavalier attitude toward the free will of women. They gave men scripted lines and sent them out to bars and clubs to practice on unsuspecting women. Their clients were told to ‘disregard’ what women said and to ‘push through’ what was characterised as ‘token resistance’. Yet by and large they were not political misogynists - they did not launch into jaundiced three-hour diatribes about a ‘gynocentric social order’. In fact, if women found one of their clients repulsive then it was his fault rather than hers. ‘She’s not a bitch,’ as probably the most famous pickup artist - Mystery (aka Erik von Markovik) - used to tell his students; ‘she’s just a bitch to you.’

A change in tone became evident during the 2010s when self-proclaimed ‘red pill’ gurus began to emerge. In their eyes she definitely was a bitch. Whereas Mystery had dressed flamboyantly and worn kohl eyeliner to the club as part of his ‘peacocking’ routine, the new brooms of the manosphere saw men in makeup as part of the problem: a sign that society had become irredeemably feminised and degenerate.

The basic premise of the red pill is that women run the world. It is therefore unsurprising that its devotees should be susceptible to other conspiratorial beliefs. I suspect this is partly down to what has been called ‘crank magnetism’: the tendency of delusional beliefs to attract each other and become magnetic. Each is a product of the same sloppy thinking.

But the structure of manosphere misogyny is also similar in some ways to that of antisemitism. Women, like Jews, are depicted as opposites. They are both inferior and superior; weak but powerful; governed by a fluctuating tide of emotion yet simultaneously capable of crushing men under the jackboot of feminism.

One way to resolve such tensions is to view women as doing someone else’s bidding. And so they become marionettes, controlled by dark forces pulling the strings behind the scenes. That those behind the curtain should turn out to be Jews is less surprising when one considers the increasing overlap between the manosphere and the far-right.

There are fabulous things happening in ep 1 of Heesu in Class 2.

For the record, other than seeing a few people saying it was good on my dash, I knew nothing going into this one. I generally avoid trailers and only rarely know a show is starting before it does. I'm a "see it on my app, click it, decide if I vibe" type of person.

#1 - It took me less than 1.5 minutes to start vibing.

We start with Hee Su running to confess while wearing a fabulous shirt with a sun on it.

Then the intro came in hard with all kinds of science symbols including planets, a telescope and a full out phase diagram of the moon. My nerdy heart which is currently writing video scripts related to astronomy is in my happy place. Plus, they're using the science symbols POETICALLY. I'm going to swoon.

#2 - The "universe" dialogue isn't a one off.

Our boy Hee Su is apparently really into astronomy. Even if he says he mainly likes Chan Young, he's trying to start an astronomy club. Problem is - teach has a life outside of school.

I hate to say it Hee Su, but I agree with teach here. Expecting him to work from 10pm - midnight when he's not equally passionate about astronomy is a bit much.

But the cooler thing to me is that Hee Su KEEPS referencing the universe. We have an absolutely lovely poetic opening speech about the universe.

Hee Su uses it to discuss how the casual remarks from Chan Young impact him.

He uses it at the end when he decides to confess. Sure, there may be a universe where he didn't confess. And there may be a universe where he was rejected. But what if there's a universe where he's accepted. What if it's this one?

#3 - A lot of the dialogue spirals and builds

Throughout the episode, there are so many places where dialogue is building and spiraling. It's layering in so many themes and setting up the narrative so nicely that my brain is literally pinging with happiness.

We have a thread about the real value of "confessions" with multiple perspectives on that.

We have a thread about the right way to "approach" the person you care about and build a relationship.

We have a thread about the unintentional things people do that can hurt others.

We have MULTIPLE pieces of dialogue that are already being used multiple times by different characters in the episode. And the callbacks are so seamlessly integrated that it works to build both meaning and narrative tension. That's a skill.

#4 - Hee Su is a dating "guru" who has never dated, but he's actually good at it.

The fact that it seems like he's mainly learned from watching television and listening to his sisters' stories is perfection. I respect that so much.

I also love this sibling relationship SO much.

#5 - What makes a "true" friend is already being explored.

See this girl? I love her. This is a fledgling friendship. But the energy is already flowing both ways. Unlike the users in his life, she learned Hee Su's name BEFORE approaching him. They're bonding over Usain Bolt and unrequited love. She's giving HIM advice even if he was supposed to be mentoring her.

See this boy? I hate him. He's the "perfect" friend. The object of Hee Su's affection. I'm probably projecting and judging him prematurely. But for this episode, I'm getting coward + popular jerk + manipulator vibes. I'll need to remind myself that he's a teenager. He might grow on me.

See this boy behind Hee Su? I'm trying to decide whether I should feel bad for him. He's obviously the brunt of his friends' jokes including Hee Su's. But there is friendly affection between the three of them, and he gives it back to them too.

#6 - I'm adopting our "Mystery" suitor.

Hee Su may be the title character, but Seung Won is who I'm adopting. Bias is in play. I've seen him before in a different show, and I LOVED his acting in it. I skipped through most of that tedious show just to get to his scenes.

But beyond the fact that he pays attention to Hee Su,

Hee Su's family is the warmth and noise in his quiet, lonely world.

#7 - There's FOOD symbolism.

We have carrot juice being given by pretty much everyone to Hee Su representing all kinds of feelings. Even if I agree with our Friend on the Fringe that it wouldn't be my choice of my drink.

And we have shared family snacks & meals

with the occasional sibling shenanigans.

I loved the ramen scene so much.

Not to discredit these concepts of manifestation, but to make a point that there are indeed limitations with it. It's the same with magic, too. I notice that this typically happens with people who try to transition from Christianity to occultist practices or those who try to merge both, tend to have this mentality that there are no rules. There ARE rules. We just don't call them sins.

You cannot believe in past lives, karma, ancestors, spirit guides, or deities and see yourself as a limitless being.

And you can't get rid of the 3D (no matter how ghetto it is) because you disagree with it. That's not manifesting, that's spiritual bypassing and living in delusion.

These "laws" don't give you the right to stalk and harass a person because you want them to be your "SP".

I don't give a shit what kind of power that you think you have, but it doesn't negate another person's free will and no, YOU DONT own that person or the right to overstep their boundaries for a "plot". It's beyond scripting. It's beyond mood boards. It's beyond visualizing. You are now a predator who's one step away from being filed a restraining order on or behind bars because you think that manifestation overrules morals and ethics.

You do not need to claim a specific person to get the love that you want and deserve. You don't need to cyberstalk them, collect their pictures, talk to people or even THEIR people about "being in a relationship" with them when YOU know they aren't. You don't need to write smut or obsess over another person to manifest something. It is always people who take these things too far and claim that they are powerful beings. If you have to live your life in your head, or on some words written on a piece of paper, and act like every single person around you is an NPC, then I'm sorry you are simply just not that.

Believing that you have to go to such extremes to stay focused on assuming your reality is a fallacy.

Looking at it from a spiritual perspective:

Your paths in life have already been decided for you. The most successful way for you to manifest is by working with what has already been provided for you.

Looking at it from a psychological perspective:

That mindset is ableist. People who have trauma (sexual, systematic, domestic abuse, etc), anxiety, ocd, cptsd/ptsd, mood disorders, personality disorders, cannot think positively all of the time. It doesn't mean that they cannot still manifest and it doesn't mean that their negative thoughts will become their reality or that bad things happen to them because they didn't "assume" and think positively enough.

To that person who thinks that just because I'm a tarot reader and a reiki healer (you blocked me before i could light your ass up!), that I have to conform to people enabling mentally harmful behavior for the sake of metaphysics:

Absolutely! I think this way and I'm okay with it. Whether me cussing people out for justifying stalking is judgemental and coming from "the ego". I'm okay with that! I'll always have the opportunity to balance it, but in either shape that you think is not aesthetically pleasing as a spiritualist, my magic works. The difference between me and you is that I don't have to avoid reality to live a role that I was blessed with, nor does it change my impact because I don't choose the "love and light" persona.

Screenwriting advice from Mackenzie Crook, Reece Shearsmith & Jed Mercurio

Interviewer: I'm delighted to be here with the TV and BAFTA Craft nominees for writing, both in comedy and TV drama. Our three lauded writers are Reece Shearsmith for "Inside Number Nine," Mackenzie Crook for "Detectorists," and Jed Mercurio for "Line of Duty." I'd like you all to tell us a little bit about each of your programmes. reece.

Reece: Well, "Inside Number Nine" is an anthology series, which is a very unusual thing, I think, to exist these days. I mean, you couldn't move for them in the '70s, and it was kind of what I grew up loving and watching. The half-hour play, "Play for Today," was a very appealing, enjoyable thing to me because you didn't know what you were going to get - same as "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "The Twilight Zone," and of course "Tales of the Unexpected."

And that has gone out of fashion, I think, a little bit because of the mythical idea that if you're not following a set of characters, you won't return to the programme. And that's why they're not commissioned these days very much. But our argument, when we went in and pitched the idea of doing such a thing, was that if they were good you would forgive them for whatever they were. And I think we just really wanted to do that thing of kind of like chamber pieces - we talked about them being these quite claustrophobic little plays, and I think that was what drove us to do it.

Interviewer: OK and Reece what about the inspiration behind your series ?

Reece: Again, it was kind of just stuff that is enjoyable to research yourself. Some things came literally - "Sardines," episode of "Inside Number Nine," came when Steve and I write in a room in Muswell Hill and there's a massive wardrobe in the corner, and we were just literally one day - we'd been staring at it every day for however many months that we sit in that room, and then one of us said, "What about a game of sardines?" Initially, that was a funny idea just to think, well, we could just one at a time fill it with people arriving and hiding in the wardrobe. There was a version of that script that was simply that, and that was enough. Then we read it back and thought it's not enough - it's good, it's funny, and there's some quite funny dialogue in it, and it's slightly awkward, but there was something missing.

It wasn't until we went back in and peppered in the vague dread of the revelation of the child abuse that we realised that instantly elevated it into something much more fruitful. And that's always the way with our writing, I think. We are never satisfied with the first root idea of a gentle - you know, we tried to do it, and we can never do it, always feels lacking if there isn't somebody being murdered or some kind of dreadful extra element that just heightens it and gives you an element of jeopardy and peril in a supposed half-hour comedy that you would get in a drama. And I think that's why people are sometimes shocked by what we do because they are smuggled into a half-hour comedy, whereas you would be ready for it if it was at 9:00 on BBC 1 and you were set up for a drama. But I think we do things that are not that outrageous, but I think that they are a bit blindsiding because they are in the guise of comedy and maybe more powerful because of it.

Interviewer: And Reece for you - what's your writing process?

Reece: Well, we talk a lot, Steve and I. I couldn't - I admire the fact that these two write alone. I couldn't do it, I don't think. I think I need to have the instant reaction from Steve. If we can make each other laugh in the room, if it's comedy, then it goes in generally. But there's a lot of talking about - with these particular "Number Nines," being self-contained stories, we talk a lot about what the idea might be. Sometimes we've had - we've got an ending we might want to get to, or we've thought of a character that could be in something, and it's like crafting a story then and how do we most leanly tell it and what scenes do we need to get this across in however... you now, judiciously.

I think we do that because we fear the idea of beginning and feeling a little bit wayward in where we're going. But we have done that before, and I think sometimes we've written ourselves... Much like the Coen brothers when they wrote "Blood Simple" - they deliberately enjoyed writing themselves into corners and then thinking how does the character get out of it rather than being kind of ahead of the characters, which is a joyous thing and also quite surprising to yourself.

With these, some of the surprises at the end we've changed - we've thought we've had one route in our mind and we've thought, "Actually, now looking at it, we've got a third of the way in, I think people are going to - this is obvious to us," so we've changed it. So that's hopefully second-guessing what people think the story might be going. So that's been enjoyable. Writing a lot, talking a lot, and then beginning to be able to write it down with what we need to get out of the scenes as far as exposition and trying to hide the exposition. And then finally there's a pass that's "and why is it funny?" and hopefully that's the final kind of bit that puts it into BBC comedy. You know, it is meant to be funny. A lot of our things are not funny, I concede, but it's because we kind of enjoy the drama and the tension and the release of that in the mechanics of telling a joke. So yeah, a lot of writing before we dare to write so that we're not trapped not knowing where we're going.
