This's probably been said before but we need to talk about how the hell Gordon Freeman went through the events of HL1 and 2 without breaking down.

He woke up late and showed up to work like normal, probably expecting to just go grab a beer with Barney after work. When he went to the test chamber, some things were messed up but yk, "Gordon doesn't need to hear about this, he's a professional!"

So he was in the dark about everything up until the Resonance Cascade. Can you imagine it just being some random Tuesday and you accidentally cause the apocalypse?

He watched most, if not all of his co-workers die, whether that be from the explosion, the miscellaneous aliens roaming the place, or from the military running around and shooting everything that moves.

Meanwhile, Gordon somehow manages to survive all of this, kills a fuck ton of military guys, and ends up having to go to space. In the span of like 2 days he's now having to save humanity. So he does, kills Gonarch and the Nihilanth and whatever, cool. Then he meets this weird lizard guy in a suit who transcends time and space and whatever because why wouldn't he, and then he wakes up to lizard guy again and IT'S BEEN 20 YEARS?

So NOW he's gotta navigate this new dystopian place that's in another country, and on TOP of that, he still has to deal with the aftermath of the Resonance Cascade.

And on top of THAT, everyone treats him like he's some kind of messiah that's going to save everyone from the combine. It's been like 3 days, give my man a break 😭

Then he's gotta deal with this girl who was a toddler the last time he saw her leading him around and flirting with him, (but also kicking ass, no shade to Alyx) his best friend is now like 50 years old, his old boss is an evil dictator, and the end of the world is gonna happen AGAIN.

And then when he and Alyx somehow manage to destroy the citadel, NOW HE HAS TO DO EVEN MORE.

Anyway. Give my man Gordon a nap and a weekend to just relax.

fic idea- batboys vs. Period cramp simulator

so, I am part of the half of the population that has a uterus. And as such once a month I am visited by the red demon, that makes my stomach like it's some how both a bottle of squirting ketchup and giving birth to a flipping jellyfish. To cope I watch videos of men using the period cramp simulator and laugh at their screams of pain.

So, I'm sitting on the couch, trying to ignore the deep rooting ache in my lower stomach, a cold pad on my head, heated pad on my stomach and back, eating all the chocolate ice-cream I want (don't you dare tell me that I shouldn't have caffeine, I'm eating all the treats I want), after popping advil like candy for the past few days, and thought; "how would the bat brothers would react to the cramp simulator."

So, the fic would start with spoiler asking the boys (dick, Tim and Jason, [Duke opted out and they didn't want to use the machine on an 8-year-old so Damien is also on the side-lines]), what they know about periods, and they know next too nothing. Oracle starts explaining the basics, what's in the blood, why it happens, and how it works. Dick and Tim getting more and more nervous as she continues.

Nightwing; so wait...it's like contractions? Like labor?

O: the uterus is a muscle, and the isn't just going to fall out.

RR: so it's like churning?

Spoiler: yep, best I can describ it is like a bunch of knife fingers clawing st the inside of your stomach.

Black bat:*holding thumb over start button on the pain simulator* ready?

N: not anymore....

RH: just press start already, I've been tortured and then blown up this can't be any worse.

After 5 minutes of cursing, cries of pain and stomach clutching, Cass reveals they were only on level 3 of 10.

After a wave of disbelief, and claims they the girls were in no way walking around like that. Steph puts a simulator on and sits calmly at a level 8 while Tim is curled up shaking on the floor next to her at a 4.

The brothers try to go through the whole day hooked up to the simulators, training, lunch, case work, patrol. They try to Google things that help with period pain. Needless to say they get pissed at how little information their is, Bruce joins in this part as he wants for know how help his daughters/niece if needed. Tim gets especially pissed at the "Shouldn't have caffeine" thing.

They don't last long when challenged to go to level ten....

In the end, Dick vows to treat his sisters like queens on their time of the month. Jason just said his respect for them has grown tenfold. Tim works on giving all uterus owning employees at WE three-days of menstrual leave a month. Bruce tells the girls that if they ever need a break because their cramps get debilitating, say the word and they'll be excused from anything.

Duke is just glad he chickened out and Damien stares at the simulators and swears he will concur them once he is old enough. Much to Tim dick and Jason's horror.

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday ...

Another day on the Emerald Isle filled with Irish sunshine. Buckets of it! Waterproof suntan lotion ahoy!

Smallest Dog had a 'day out' yesterday, so today she's quite happily slumbering. A small, large hearted little dog can only take so much excitement dontcha know. ;-) The day out consisted of a trip to the vet. Now, normally, any time I take one of the Hairy Horde to the vet it's with much shaking and protestation and back pedaling once the door comes into view. Not so with Smallest Dog. She was delighted to be back there. From her point of view, this is the place where there's loads going on, new friends to be made, and she gets to sit in a kennel that's high up and she can look down on everyone. I also discovered that they took her for walks and out for lunch ... so no wonder she was bored to come home with me! ;-D Anyway, the vet is very happy with her progress ... said she can't believe how well Smallest Dog is looking compared to a week ago ... so fingers crossed this all continues. :-)

A friend of mine took her for a wee walk whilst I went and did some more grocery shopping and, by the time I returned to the car, Smallest Dog was sleeping soundly. I'd love to have joined her in that particular pursuit. I hate shopping. I mean, it was quiet enough in there, but still, anything more than 10 people and I want out. And by the time I'd wended my way around the place and arrived at the checkouts, it was to find only two spots were open. Not only that, it turned out that the woman in front of me was also 'saving' the next spot for her friend, who then wandered up with her trolley and parked herself in front of me. It's not that I was in any great rush or had any important place to be, it just miffed me. I could have said something, but I figured that 'life's too short' and 'pick your battles'. I'd like to say I also didn't think unpleasant Looney Tunes demise style thoughts in her general direction ... but, let's face it, I did, and I greatly amused myself whilst I stood and waited. ;-)

Today, as ever, I'll be headed up the road for the usual Groundhog Day TV Guide and the newspaper that I won't read. And yes, I'll take another garage weather picture, cos it's bound to be vastly different from the kind of weather I can see from my kitchen window. A bit of dog walking will happen ... maybe a bit of pile of exploration ... but, for the most part, it'll be slowmo hooman kind of activities, surrounded by slumbering dogs and hibernation is really, truly the order of this Marti Pellow kind of a day ...

probably the earliest sign that i was a bit silly both gender and attraction wise was when i got really into this harvest moon game at like 10 and i really liked this one girl character but this game came out in 2011 and did not allow you to be gay so i reset a pretty decent amount of progress to make my character a guy so i could date her. and i proceeded to never really think harder about this choice for years

I don’t know if it’s just me but I genuinely feel extremely underpowered for certain boss fights and it’s not just because the game doesn’t allow items, it’s also because I feel at this point at least one of Ryu’s weapons SHOULD be at level 3 but the skill hasn’t been unlocked yet whatever that means…… if it’s because I keep missing Scarbs that are littered throughout every level, then that’s really bad game design.

You shouldn’t punish players’ progress in a game for being so occupied with the gameplay that they haven’t found time to properly explore the game levels and environment. Especially in a game were already SO MUCH is happening, and the quick time events don’t help. When there’s no real breathing room for players to take a moment and rest, they won’t be able to consider exploring as an option.

i feel like everything i see abt working cocker spaniels online is like be careful! only experienced pet owners can take care of a working cocker! these dogs are made to hunt and dont have an off switch and are often problematic pets!! but literally just living and EXISTING in the uk means i see cocker spaniels being walked all the time and its ALWAYS working cocker spaniels i think i only rmbr seeing like one show cocker in the past almost-5 years of living here. so whats the secret then? how does everyone and their grandma (literally, so many old ppl w cockers) own a working cocker spaniel? are they rly nightmare pets who can only be managed by the most talented of trainers?
