The Most Annoying Trope Showdown: Round 1, Poll 27
Joker Immunity
A recurring villain does not die even in situations where they should because they're too popular or too good.
Propaganda:
If the villain won’t die, they should redeem themselves otherwise they should be dead. You don’t have faith in the audience to like a new/other villain? Stop that line of thought. Explore the ramifications of what the vacuum of the death of big, bad villain does.
Humans Are Special
Speculative fiction treats humans as exceptional and different from other species.
Propaganda:
I'm not a fan of any humans-are-so-totally-different-from-aliens trope, whether it portrays humans positively or negatively. And I'm generally an optimistic person, so you might think I'd hate the negative version more. But "Humans are Special" is just so unrelentingly stupid in any of it's manifestations. How exactly does an alien intelligence create a galaxy spanning empire without creativity? Or adaptability? Or curiosity? Or a sense of community? Or whatever you pick. There is a lot of world building heavy lifting needed to explain how the aliens would either survive long enough to build their great works or be motivated to do so without what usually appear to be drives that are seen in all world cultures, modern or historical, not to mention seeming to be in evidence on this planet in other species. And the writers never do this.

Both the Blorgons and Circuit Chaps have long viewed empathy as a fatal flaw.
So, why is it that they, the supposedly superior beings, are the ones who end up dead?

I have not read yet the Task Force Z and Suicide Squad comics where Jason is part of the teams, but I like to imagine that working under Amanda Waller, who worked/works for the US military at a pretty high rank, is how he learns that Bruce was going to murder the Joker in the UN headquarter.
Amanda: I don't care about any of you, but keep Todd alive. It was hard enough to stop his father from starting a world war the first time he died, I don't want to deal with that again. Jason: WHAT?!

Prompt 351
Bruce is Exhausted. Capital E and everything. He can feel himself get older, even with how Gotham’s aging worked. So perhaps it was less getting older, and more of his body finally rebelling against the abuse he put it through night and day.
Way too many old injuries flaring up and bones full of steel aching. The issue, really, is that his kids are starting to complain about the same things. And if they’re actually complaining about it, then it’s bad, that’s just how everyone in the family is.
They make a fuss about each other’s injuries, but don’t so much as talk about their own unless it’s an active issue. So. It’s a big issue.
Which meant actually wrangling them to the doctors…

Fun little thought I thought I’d share 😋
Imagine, it’s the big showdown between Red Hood and Batman, Joker’s unconscious form slumped nearby, completely bound.
Red hood, Jason, demands that Batman kill him. That after everything he’s done, all the people he’s killed, he pleads with his dad to kill the Batman (although he’d never admit that he still loves the man as a father, not yet).
There’s some dramatic back and forth where Batman refuses and Red Hood insists pleads that Batman Bruce kill the joker, until Bruce rips off the cowl and reveals that he did!
He did kill the Joker! He wore his favorite suit and grabbed two $1000 watches and used them as brass knuckles and beat the fucker to death! He burned his body and buried the ashes outside of the goddamn Fortress of Solitude so no one would find them! He folded up the bloodied suit and boxed them with the broken watches and put them a hidden compartment in the base of Jason’s memorial in the cave, where no one would ever touch or find them! He waited until Superman was off world so he wouldn’t stop him again and told no one of what he did!
And how that ends is up to y’all. I just think that it’s interesting how there are canonically 3 Jokers (possibly more if dc changes their mind) and wouldn’t it be fun if Bruce knowingly murdered one of them only for another to pop up and make him suicidal to the point where a little Timothy Drake needs to blackmail his way into being Robin so he doesn’t kill himself?

While it wasn’t shown on screen,
Anubis wiped out the Blorgons.
(Don’t worry, they got better.)

DC AU wherein Princess Diana, Emissary of Themyscira, kills the Joker after the events of Death in the Family and then claims diplomatic immunity. Between being happy that the Joker is dead and really not wanting to start a fight with Themyscira, the US government has no problem granting it.
Dick is happy the Joker is dead, as are the Gordons. Alfred is pleased with it, too. Bruce is torn. He's glad Jason was avenged; he'd relieved that the Joker can't hurt anyone else; he wishes he'd been the one to put him down; he's ashamed of that.
When Jason returns, he becomes Wonder Boy. He uses the skills taught to him by Batman, Talia's tutors, and the All-Caste to clean up crime alley similarly to how he does as Red Hood (killing when necessary and taking over certain crime spaces), only he doesn't hide his identity from the family/justice league because everyone knows they can't touch him without facing Wonder Woman's wrath.
After him and Tim work through the anger Jason has misdirected at him, Robin is known to suddenly pull out a bluetooth speaker and play Wonder Boy by Tenacious D anytime he catches Wonder Boy fighting somewhere (Dick has never been so proud). Anyone who can take a beating from him and then turn around and mock him is Jason's kind of crazy, so him and Tim start getting along just fine. Bruce sometimes thinks it might be better for his sanity of the boys didn't get along quite so well.

So the ring Joke stole is actually The One Ring and it grants crime powers? Interesting choice.

The most confusing thing to me is when people bring up Joker having diplomatic immunity after Jason's death as something he would care about and would change his perception of Bruce not avenging him. Buddy Jason ambiguously pushed a man with diplomatic immunity off a balcony to his death like 4 issues ago, he would not give a shit!!

If the Blorgons can keep coming back from the dead each time they’re killed off,
does that mean the Inspector’s using the Time Wave to destroy them (and ultimately their own people) was all in vain?

so tempted to do a thing for @phoenixcatch7's possessed doll au Because I am just stuck with this image of B's puppet body being damaged, his gas mask off, and him going straight up Feral. Am I saying I want to draw him mauling the joker? Maybe. Maybe I do. He'd deserve it.
