It seems like the writers were scared of the complexity that they set up in many of the relationships and themes in Arcane S1 so they tried to walk things back in various ways. Here’s some examples:
Cait is losing herself to her grief and is making questionable decisions that hurt Vi and the undercity? Do they contend with the tensions in their relationship and have Cait and Vi go through satisfying arcs and tackle the issues between them and the cities? No they tease each other a little and get to fuck so they’re def fine now.
The sister’s relationship is unrecognizable and they have both changed so much and borderline hate what the other has become? Do they have to build something new and work through all the problems… No they use Warwick to bring them together and basically “just get along” when he could have been a good catalyst to start building back.
Ekko and Jinx have been enemies for years but still harbour some feelings for each other? Are we going to see them grit their teeth and work together for the sake of Zaun and get to know each other again and build back their trust? No the AU shows “what the potential of this relationship could be” and our Ekko and Jinx get put in a dire and traumatic situation to bypass all their conflict.
They couldn’t handle the complicated ideas they set up. It would have been fun and devastating to see all of these dynamics play out. It was going to take drastic work or drastic measures for the characters to reconcile and the writers chose drastic measures because they were scared.
This thing is most of us were in it for these messy ideas and relationships and now we feel cheated.

Not really in the DC fandom and I don't really read many comics but I've been seeing some videos and posts making headcanons about the Al-Ghul family being Muslim and it pisses me off so much.
This interpretation is deeply rooted in Islamophobia and the ignorant notion that every Arab is a Muslim and therefore a "terrorist". The Al-Ghuls are not and have never been Muslims and any parts of the religion found in their characters are likely due to the fact that Arab culture has a lot of aspects of Islam mixed into it and because again, people think that being Arab and being Muslim are the same thing and a lot of the comic writers are white Americans who commonly have this misconception about Arabs.
I'm not going to go into the specifics of everything because 1) I don't know all that much about canon and 2) this is a little hard to explain but I will give several examples that pretty much disprove that headcannon because The Al-Ghuls do things that are considered major sins in Islam on the daily.
Ra's runs an assassin league/cult and despite what many people think killing people is a major sin in Islam except in very specific scenarios where it may be excused like in self-defence or in war. And what the Al-Ghuls do? That isn't excusable in any way.
Ra's' name in and of itself is proof. His name means the Demon Head and I promise you a proper practicing Muslim would not call themself that or commit the atrocities he has on innocent people. I don't know if this is true but I saw on the wiki that apparently a character named Gerhardt asked him if he was a man or a fiend from hell and Ra's, said that he was both and neither and that he was "Ra's al-Ghul". A Muslim would not associate themself with Hell, a place where evildoers are punished in the afterlife.
Talia committed zina (fornication), yet another major sin, and wears extremely revealing clothing despite the fact that modesty is an integral part of the religion.
The Al-Ghuls drink wine, eat pork and apparently Damian was often fed ox blood soup as a child despite the fact that all these things are explicitly forbidden for Muslims to consume in verses of the Quran. (To clarify a bit, in case you're confused about the ox blood soup, Muslims are forbidden from consuming animal blood because it is considered filthy and harmful, much like pork and wine.)
Not to mention the whole thing about Ra's nearly being 500 years old and the Lazarus Pits apparently reviving him every time he dies... but that's a whole can of worms I don't know enough about to open
So yeah, the headcanon that the Al-Ghuls are Muslims perpetuates harmful stereotypes about Islam as a whole. There probably is more to be said about this topic but unfortunately, I haven't read many comics and have only watched a few of the DC animated movies so I can't say much more.
Feel free to correct me if I've said something incorrect or missed something important.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:
I've had whooping cough, and even with the vaccine, even with prompt treatment because I knew I'd been exposed, it sucked ass. The sickest I've ever been in my life including Covid, including double pneumonia that lasted for a month of spiking fevers. Get a TDaP vaccine now and get protected from tetanus (also very, very, very bad), diphtheria (another one you don't want), and pertussis (whooping cough).
Consider this your reminder to get your kids vaccinated or have their child-sized coffin measurements on file at your local undertaker--say you're an antivaxer and they'll give you a repeat customer discount.
Like, it's a damn shame if your crotch spawn died of measles, but I'll only actually feel bad if they were vaccinated and got it anyway and still died, because that means that some fucking antivaxer's little bastards passed it on to them (in that case, I'll genuinely shed a tear). If your kid dies from an illness that you could have gotten them vaccinated against, that's not God taking them home, that's not anything other than your stupidity leading to the death of an innocent who depended on you for protection that you failed to provide. It's death by neglect. I mourn for the kids lost to these things, but for the (legal if not mental) adults in their lives, I hold nothing but scorn.

Max Max is about dirt and rust and grit and rot and finding a sliver of light, hope and love in it all. It is painful. It's supposed to be. Shying away from it makes no sense to me. It's the end of the world. Survival of the fittest and riding that fine line of trust and comradery just to get through another day. Putting up emotional walls to protect oneself from betrayal. To hide ones weakness. Desperate to keep ones soft underbelly from showing. Hoarding the scarce resources and remnants of a world far gone. Watching the normalcy slip away like grains of sand in the wind. Danger looms in all corners of life, but there is hope for those who look for it. Still, it is a nightmare. Skills, tools, and supplies regress as everything breaks down, but new solutions can rise from the ashes. It may not be pretty, but it is a fact of life. Remember that.

recently my sub has been coming to me in daily life when he feels overwhelmed or self critical to ask if I still think he's a good boy and then we have a small moment where I hold him real close and whisper in his ears,
"you're a very good boy, you're doing such a good job."
maybe I'll throw in a,
"you're my favorite puppy"
and run my hands up his waist and cup his face in my palms, holding his eye contact as I'm praising him literally him in broad daylight.
it's entirely nonsexual except for the unavoidable fact that this is only behavior we've previously exhibited while inside our dynamic and our dynamic has previously only been sexual (with the exlusion of nonsexual scenes) and it's my FAVORITE thing ever I just want to eat him up

isn't it interesting how a ton of stuff on Jekyll and Hyde connects Mr Hyde to Jack the Ripper and says that Hyde is based on him?
The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde was published in 1886. Jack the Rippers killings were in 1888.
I can get how the two can be seen as similar(but really not much since they are very very different apart from the night stuff and being very brutal with the one(s) they killed. So two similarities that I can think of) but I don't get where the Mr Hyde being based on the Ripper came from.
Is there something I'm missing or is it just some weird thing everyone has kind of decided on? Even in my English literature class the teacher has said over and over how Hyde is based on Jack.
Any information I have missed that explains this would be appreciated. I'm confused. Might be wrong. I don't know anymore. This is just something that has been on my mind recently.

Having arthritis at 17 is funny, because I tell people and they're like, "oh, my grandma has that! she takes X, Y, Z and it helps her a lot!" Your grandma and I do not have the same arthritis. Her yoga and good vibes are not going to help me.
Then there's the whole thing of finding rheumatologists near me. There are only 2 in my general vicinity. 2 that take pediatric patients. The rheumatologist I am not currently seeing is about an hour away, so when I tell people about how awful my rheumatologist is at the moment with medications and care, they always say that i should go to another doctor when I literally cannot.
Then there's the whole thing of my doctors refusing to help me with my chronic pain because it's apparently all because of my arthritis, which has been in remission for 4 years now, so no, it's not my arthritis. Arthritis medications will not help my pain, and they refuse to acknowledge that

I see the "odile being a mom is NOT accurate" posts and I agree so hard - @wish-upon-the-universe
Yeah, I really don't like it when people assign nuclear family roles to found families when they don't apply. Which is sort of why I stopped posting stuff about my Traveling Companions AU. Because even after going out of my way to say that Siffrin didn't really view Odile like a mother in that au people just kept putting it in that context.
I think this happens so often with older female characters and it's kind of disappointing.
But I also don't like policing in fandoms! So while it's a pet peeve of mine I think people should be allowed to make whatever connections and comparisons they want without negative nancys getting on their case.

I'm genuinely starting to interact with this fandom less and less because of the amount of hate I'm constantly seeing towards buck/tommy and their fans
I don't mind buck/tommy as a ship. Buddie will always be my otp for this show, but we get to see buck being happy in a relationship, so I honestly don't care if it's Tommy and not Eddie.
I don't understand how people seem to no longer get the idea of multishipping in fandom. Just because someone ships Buck/Tommy doesn't necessarily mean they've "jumped ship" and given up on Buddie. And if some people have given up on buddie, so?? How they enjoy the show is completely up to them, people are allowed different opinions.
I've seen people call it fetishism for liking buck/tommy because "you get to see 2 hot guys making out" when these were literally the same people speculating a drunk make out with buddie in the bachelor party
If you can't handle seeing Buck kiss a guy that isn't Eddie, then you don't actually care about the representation we're getting with a man coming out as bi in his 30s

Silksong poetry to restore my hype. I researched theory videos and the footage of the game—props to the people who publish them—to make this. I really wanted to add more verses but I thought that would make the poem too long. Also, take this poem with a grain of salt, since it's mostly speculation. Poetry has been pretty hard recently because fall is the season when I get sick. I'm pretty sure that's the case for others too. Plus, I made so many poems to the point where I'm running out of original ideas. Thanks for reading ♥

Small rant. Why do people who review Webtoons and comics in general hate teenage girls? Yeah the media literacy isn't there for most of them, but they treat them like they made the tropes. I just feel like these guys point out how bad it is to consume bad media and turn around and call them stupid. It always gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

Sometimes I remember that the whole reason me and my siblings broke the cycle of homophobia was because my dad just didn't explain anything?? Like as a kid I tried watching princess jellyfish bc it had princess in the name and he turned it off very quickly (at a kiss scene I think?) and would not tell me why. Then later on was disgusted and enraged when I mentioned two of my friends (lesbian relationship at the time) got in trouble for holding hands on the track in middleschool and it was unfair and again, he got mad, shut me down, and would not tell me why.
I still love my dad and everything, but it just makes me wonder what would be different if he actually tried explaining it to me or my siblings. It's just wild to think about, yaknow?

Billy Coen portrait sketch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I plan to post more sketches from different games now to get more diverse. I decided to start working on portraits and why not draw my favorite character Billy Coen? Just a little rant lol, Billy has always been a character that I was intrigued with since playing RE0. A man who was doing the right thing, got framed and was about to finish his death sentence until his transport went down. Working with Rebecca Chambers and making out of the Facility alive, the ending is pretty bittersweet. Due to the fact is that we never hear anything about Billy ever again. As the game seris went on, there is no document, no file, no reference, nothing about Billy. Even in the RE Vendetta and Death Island, Rebecca does not mention Billy at all.
Question is... what ever happen to Billy? Some theorize that he never made it out of the Arklay mountains/Racoon Forest, he was separated from Rebecca and was limited in medical care, and there was plenty of enemies like Cerberus and zombies. Not to mention, it would probably take him hours to find any sort of civilization. Some say that he went to Racoon City, keeping his head down and finding the nearest transport to go away as far as possible. Hell, might of had gone to a different country. There are other theories too like Billy Coen was killed by Albert Wesker or he was captured and turn into Nemesis. In the end, we just have no information to get a concluded answer. Maybe Capcom just didn't have much plan for him and that's it. Case in point, I did hear a rumor about an RE0 Remake coming and I am hype! However, I'll still keep my expectation low. Thank you for reading my rant lol.

A misconception a lot of people seem to have is that people who hire nannies are bad/negligent parents, and this is just not true.
Everyone I’ve ever nannied for has been an awesome parent, and in a lot of cases I actually have to ask them to pay less attention to the kids so I can do my job!
I come to work in the morning to a tired mother, with a full sink of dishes and a boatload of work she has to do (because us maternity leave isn’t nearly long enough), and still while dealing with all of that they still come check on me and baby every hour or so.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather see parents pay someone to care for their child during the day then see them get burnt out and not have any energy left to bond with the kids later.

My Life With the Walter Boys is the worst thing that exists. In this essay I will
I'm only two episodes into this show and I honestly barely made it. This show feels like if you gave an AI the entire screen play of The Summer I Turned Pretty and had it rewrite it 10 times worse. And I already didn't like The Summer I Turned Pretty very much.
This wish fulfilment rom com starts with our main girl's entire family being killed in a car crash and having to go from being the daughter of a famous fashion designer in NYC to living with like, 8 boys on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Respectfully, I'd rather kill myself.
When Cole launched himself out of the pool in slow motion I physically recoiled. I would be on team Alex if he wasn't single handedly fueling the cringe economy. Jackie is seemingly unaffected by the death of her entire family and is immediately befriended by the resident exposition bubby girl and gay best friend with very little effort. It's very odd to watch a love triangle story where the two sides of the love triangle look like there are ten years between them. Honestly at this point I'm just rooting for Alex because he looks age appropriate while Cole looks at least 28.
What The Summer I Turned Pretty had that My Life with the Walter Boys doesn't have is a Taylor Swift heavy soundtrack. And that's pretty much it. Besides that they're the exact same. Both follow a woman of color (who is half white to make them more easily digestible and conventional) who lives with two white boys who are both fighting for her affections. The younger one is sweet and funny and super in love with her, while the older one is impressively emotionally unavailable and mean, but he has an excuse cause he's traumatized, but like, in a sexy way. And everyone knows the older one is endgame cause he's angstier and angst is sexy.
I recently discovered that My Life with the Walter Boys is based on a book that was originally from Wattpad. Yeah, that makes sense.
