Choosing the right wheelchair for seniors is crucial for maintaining comfort and independence. Factors like lifestyle, living environment, and comfort preferences must be considered. Wheelchairs help overcome mobility issues, allowing seniors to engage in social activities and carry out daily tasks independently, thus reducing the risk of infections. Various types include manual, power, foldable, and lightweight portable wheelchairs, each offering unique benefits. Look for additional comfort features like head and neck support, safety features, and storage options. Find the perfect wheelchair for your needs with Medpoint's range of mobility solutions. Free Manual Wheelchair Reference Models
Tumblr media
ID: A banner with grey 3D models of 5 kinds of manual wheelchairs in a line in front of the disability pride flag and text that reads "Manual Wheelchair References" /End ID
For disability pride month, I decided to release a pack of 3D manual wheelchair models.
The pack includes 5 wheelchairs:
2 Active urban-style chairs (one of which includes a smart drive)
1 off-road active chair
1 children's wheelchair
and 1 standard "hospital" wheelchair).
All the wheelchairs are based off either wheelchairs I or friends of mine have used
Downloadable here!
or on the Clip Studio Paint Asset Store (ID 2097442) (there's been an issue with the CSP version, but the models in the download folder can be imported into clip studio paint until I can fix it)
More info about the download contents below:
The first download link includes the original .Blend file with all 5 chairs, as well as individual .obj or .fbx files the chairs (All but 1 have an .obj file, as they're only meshes. The chair with the smart drive is rigged, which is why it has an .Fbx file instead so it will retain that information) as well as a "read me" file that explains in more depth what kind of disability/character/lifestyle each chair is made for (These are just what I had in mind when I designed them, they are usable by other characters who don't fit the suggestions for the most part!) I wanted to include the Read Me contents in the CSP Asset Store listing, but CS said it was too long lol.
Also, as the title says, these files are free to use! While it's not mandatory, I would appreciate credit if you use them (or even just a tag so I can see the cool art you make with them!!)
I actually made these ages ago, the original plan was to use them in a series of posts then release the pack, but I never got around to making the series and so they've just been sitting here. I took a day off from art fight attacks to clean them all up and get them ready to post. If you experience any issues, let me know and I'll try to fix it up.
I had a couple more that were supposed to be in the pack including a sports (basketball/Tennis) wheelchair and some different styles of wheelchair, but I think the files corrupted so once I fix (or remake) them, I'll probably make a second pack.
If you have any issues, please let me know!

Hey Ambulatory Wheelchair users, please don't feel ashamed if you can do things like loading and unloading your own wheelchair from your car and stuff like that. It's those small skills that mean a world of difference in freedom and they're great skills to have. Pedestrians might not get it, but other wheelchair users (me) are jealous, it's impressive not shameful!

👏Your👏 baby👏in👏that👏foldable👏pram👏does👏not👏belong👏in👏the👏reserved👏wheelchair👏spot👏on👏the👏train👏when👏the👏train👏is👏packed👏and 👏people👏in wheelchairs👏are👏forced👏to👏just👏park👏👏their👏wheelchair👏in👏the👏middle👏of👏👏a👏walkway👏
You can literally fold the pram and hold your child.
Those spots are there so we are safe and out of the way. So we are able to get emergency help if needed via the emergency assistance button. So we don’t slide down the middle of the train or slam into people if it comes to a sudden stop.
I can not just fold my chair and get out of it. I don’t have the privilege or ability to do that. It is not a pram parking spot, the symbol on the floor and walls is not of a pram, it’s of the universal symbol for people with disabilities.
Wild how people will still do this when there is literally a sign stating that you will be fined if you don’t give up the spot. If your baby has mobility, if you have mobility; your pram was literally made to be folded and compacted. Please DO IT when the train is full and people with mobility aids are forced into spots that aren’t safe.
Fuck you. I should not have to be unsafe so you don’t have to fold a pram and hold your child.

Here's a good example of why it's always really important to ask a disabled person before you start helping them:
Someone nearly yanked my shoulder out if its socket because they grabbed the door and opened it further as I was going through it. I get you were trying to help, but I couldn't see you, and therefore didn't have the chance to take my hand off the door, so my entire arm went with it.
Could this have turned out worse? Yes. Which is exactly why I'm talking about it.

Y’all,
Imagine not moving for a carer when you see them helping someone in a wheelchair onto the train.
Me and BF got on the train today; the whole carriage was basically empty and there was a dude sitting in the seat in the wheelchair/mobility area. BF stood there for a bit and nothing.
He had the whole train, plenty of other nicer seats, and refused to move. My BF had to sit on the damn floor in the wheelchair area and risk being crushed by my chair.
We need to help carers look after their loved ones with disabilities. If you see someone helping out a disabled loved one give them space to work and care.
These spots are there for those people, or other people with disabilities. No one should be forced to sit on the floor so they can be near their loved one (and to help if needed).
Carers matter just as much as the mobility aids or disability devices a disabled person uses. If you don’t give them space to work, and don’t give them the empathy you give to me in my wheelchair then you obviously don’t realise how important carers are.
