The cross is central to Christianity. It is the heart of the gospel. Christianity is all about what Jesus did on the cross.

- it’s not the word of how your business can succeed

- it’s not the word of “your best life now”

- it's not about how you could achieve your dreams

It's about how Jesus Christ came to die on the cross to pay for our sins. That is the central message of Christianity. “It’s about the cross”!

There is only ONE thing that can save anyone from eternal damnation, and that is the message of the cross of Jesus Christ. Let's share this good news with those around us.

Shining Down, May 2024

Disclaimer: while this is not my photo, it was taken by a relative of mine (my own photos of that night are still being processed and this was a phone photo).

Nonetheless I choose to post this because (a) it's a great photo, (b) it's London, (c) it conveys what I want to say below.

It feels thematically more like Christmas (and indeed an alternative title I was going to give it was Christmas In May), but with the illumination of the tree and the lines of the aurora, it feels like a divine light shining down on the scene, which is appropriate to post today, because Happy Easter!

Oddly enough, when I was younger, I used to have the mistaken idea that Christmas was the more important Christian holiday, just like I used to think that Eid al-Fitr was more important to Muslims (it's Eid al-Adha).

But I'd like to think this photo has a message of hope in it somewhere, and I need hope. I hope this gives some hope to anyone else who needs it.

i know these are dark hours, and you feel powerless as the world shatters itself into a million pieces. trust me, i feel i am at a loss for what i can do or say too. even i know my words can’t undo the glass raining down from the sky. but i want you to know that i see you, i feel you, and i hope the best for you in these times. i know my words may mean little, depending on how you are doing today or where you stand. but i hope you feel that at least one person stands by you in solidarity over whatever you are going through

Hope

I’ve always had a strange affinity when it came to birds, for many a times in low moments, birds of all shapes, sizes and colors have come to grant me moments of reprieve in my melancholy.

There’s always a new bird for each season of my life, and it would appear I’ve entered a new season recently if the sudden increase of close encounters with American Robins have had any indication. Being the curious gal that I am, I took a peak at my Ornithography Book to see what possible symbol awaited for me to discover with these birds. Robins, as I found, are known simply to be messengers of hope and new beginnings. I found it somewhat fitting for that to be the message as a dear close friend mentioned that her orchid named after me was also turning a new leaf. New beginnings are all around me I suppose. I found it also interesting that I haven’t picked up a paper book in almost over a year. Something that often caused me some pain as I used to be able to burn through up to 5 novels a week when back in high school. And yet, on this day of bird watching, I had just closed the pages of a 200+ paged book, the second one in two days.

Made me stop and smile, to think that I was healing. I AM healing. It isn’t exactly the same passion at fervor that had held me captive all those years ago, but I’m getting to the point where sunshine and going out doesn’t feel like a chore anymore.

It’s something I yearn after, something to live for.

Looks like the Robins were right.
