Thereās been something bugging me for a while that Iāve been trying to articulate. Other artists on Tumblr could probably help meā the idea of art being treated as ācontentā.
Right out the gate, that word sparks a feeling of resentment in me. When people call art ācontentā rather than what it actually is, it feels like it undermines the intention behind the work. Artists create their work to share ideas and express themselves. Boggling it down to just be content made purely for consumption feelsā¦. for lack of better word, dystopian. Artists feel it too.
The idea of āproducingā art is nothing new. Iāve heard many stories about artists feeling terrified of the algorithmās wrath that they start pumping out artwork like thereās no tomorrow. Then, they get burnt out. The artwork theyāre creating isnāt for them anymore, itās for the machine. Itāsā¦.saddening.
It feels symptomatic of the capitalistic society we live in where everything is meant to be sold to a consumer. You arenāt meant to approach it mindfully, but instead treat it as another meal for your mind to wolf down before spitting out the bones. I think thatās what scares me. Art on the internet isnāt treated as art, itās treated as just another form of stimuli for those glued to screens.
Now this isnāt the case with everyone, obviously. I have one friend specifically who I feel is a wonderful example of someone who appreciates artwork wholeheartedly. A commission client of mine. Always tips his artists generously, collects all art he sees and mourns the deletion of artwork. He admires artistsā work with all his heart no matter what it is because he can see the soul behind it. The intention in every line drawn, and the feeling the artist wanted to provoke. Heās gone on record numerous times to say he loves art.
Art, not content. He doesnāt care for the machine. He cares for the personās intentions and skill. He loves art.
By the way, this doesnāt just go for visual art. It goes for writing, video essays, documentaries, short films, animation, anything created by a human hand. Itās art because it was created with intention.
I genuinely canāt stand seeing people call art ācontentā. I appreciate all the support I receive, but thatās the one thing that grinds my gears in a way which I canāt get over. No matter what it is. If it was made by a human hand to convey a thought, itās art.
With my whole heart, mind, body, and soul, I pray on the extinction of the ideology behind content creation. Just call it what it actually is- art.

Hey, so. I have something to say :D
If yāall have been wondering why this clear roleplay blog has sort of ceased roleplaying and has just devolved into reposting rebecca related art and posting rebecca sometimes⦠hereās an explanation i guess???
First off: I havenāt quit RPing. I still like to do it from time to time.
Howeverā¦
I HAVE mostly quit most of it because honestly? I feel like the murder drones RP scene has evolved into something so big and complicated with so much interlocking lore im unaware of, random discourse i missed out on seeing, and a lot of rps devolving into fights that i just get too tired to keep interacting with.
I acknowledge the reason is mostly because iāve decided to take on the role of a widely hated (misunderstood imo) character that many people feel the need to make fun of and fight with for their own personal satisfaction. Hey, i get it. if I saw someone rping as someone I hated- It makes sense why youād want to get some sort of personal revenge on them. But i think itās important to remember (god i hate pulling this card but itās sort of necessary) thereās also a person here???
The other thing! I really cannot keep up with all the stuff you guys (other rp blogs) have going on. It shapes your lore, I get that! but for someone who isnāt totally invested in this scene that much, you get why it would be kind of jarring to interact with someone one week and the next have them be some completely different person, no? Now iām really not blaming my disappearance on you, of course not- itās the fact that *I* am uninterested in keeping up with all this lore 24/7. Itās tiring. š®āšØ
I kind of just wanted to put that out there.
This doesnāt mean Iām discouraging you from sending me RP asks!!! By all means, go ahead.
Itās more of an explanation on why i havenāt been as active in that area of fandom, and also maybe why I havenāt answered your ask yet. I have places to BE, babygirl!!!!
Thanks for understanding (and reading, if you went through this whole rant) yāall. Love yāall!!!!

please tell me about the bad lion king opinions/theories
well then
because this is going to be long also this will make no sense to people who dont already know the characters and lore i am not going to be explaining things in this post here i go here are some really stupid theories i hate
vitani is nala's daughter - no. this is so fucking stupid. its just based on them having a similar color scheme as well as a deleted scene WHICH IS NOT CANON BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS TOO INAPPROPRIATE (it was scar trying to sexually harass nala) but the big piece of evidence people use is just vitani and nala having similar eye colors. its so fucking stupid nala is very clearly zira's daughter or is at least related to her biologically because they look too similar to not be. her father is probably just some random lion (probably not scar)
also people in the fandom are really into the idea of the lionesses being raped and forced to have cubs against their will for some reason that is where several stupid theories and ideas come from including that one
simba and nala are cousins/half siblings - ok let me pull you aside. this is almost exclusively said by people who barely know anything about the movie and just want to "rUiN yOuR cHiLdHoOd" by parroting some edgy theory they read online. do you really think disney would keep incest in the movie after DELIBERATELY REMOVING IT FROM AN EARLIER VERSION OF THE STORY as well as going through all the trouble of changing up the story in tlk2 because they realized it would have incest and they didnt want it. also in the lion guard they mention nalas father being a different guy and not mufasa or scar. he probably just lives somewhere else or is dead or something. or maybe we just dont see him. who cares
also "HURR DURR BUT REAL LIONS DO IT" shut up. lions do not usually mate with their siblings in the wild. they usually do that in captivity when they are in a confined space and cannot leave. and even if they DID why are you looking for realism in a fucking disney movie about singing animals
mufasa can control the weather and he caused the drought - i havent run into this one as much but i found out about it a while ago and can confirm i think it is stupid. why would he do that his wife and everyone else lives there
scar was uwu innocent and was abused because everyone was against him - less of an actual theory and more of just a popular headcanon but i still hate this. this usually goes along with people having stories where the dads are abusive monsters and the moms are nice and lovingSTOP ITS SO FUCKING CLICHE AND BORING AND PREDICTABLE (mom almost always ends up being killed by the dad too for extra Bad Guy Points) also fucks up scar's character because its like "Well Actually Everyone Else Is The Bad Guy And Mufasa Deserved To Be Killed" its one thing to see him as being neglected or abused but its extremely annoying and bad to paint everyone else as the bad guy because it removes responsibility from him. like okay he still murdered his brother who was a father to a young child and he lied to that said child and framed him for the death and made him believe it was his fault for a big chunk of his life even though he was a child AND ALSO mislead the hyenas and promised them food but lied AND ALSO KILLED THE WHOLE ECOSYSTEM BECAUSE HE DID NOT CARE
sorry about that one i just get heated about that because scar is meant to reflect real dictators who lie to people in times of distress and ruin everything once they get into power as a result by not delivering their promises and only thinking about their own interests. i know its a cartoon about lions but god
and finally
kopa - i hate you kopa. you are just simba with hair. the only way most people try to make him interesting is by slaughtering him please i enjoy when people let him live or do something different with him (like making him the youngest kid born after kiara and kion) or GIVE HIM AN ACTUAL PERSONALITY but you do you i guess (this is another one that doesnt really annoy me as much because it could be an interesting au but as an actual theory i hate it)
might add more if i think of more idk sorry for this being so long
#the lion king#disney#sort of a rant#this probably sounds like i am speaking a different language to most of my followers#but idc i can understand it#also probably the longest written post i have made in a while if not ever

"Erm, the age of consent in my country is 16." š If someone is fixated on the lowest legal age possible, thatās a massive red flag. Normal adults are interested in other adults, not seeing how young they can legally go. š©šÆ
Just because someone can consent legally doesnāt mean theyāre making an informed, mature decision. Young people lack the life experience to recognize manipulation, and predators take advantage of that. Furthermore, just because something is legal doesnāt make it right. Laws vary by country, and some places have questionable ones (e.g. child marriage is still legal in some countries). Ethics go beyond legality.
I'm seriously so sick of freaks on the internet repeatedly use the age of consent excuse to justify this bullshit behaviour. Consent isn't just about legality ā itās about ethics, power, and genuine autonomy. Anyone trying to twist the law to defend predatory behaviour is just exposing themselves.

Movies that have to work for a PG rating as opposed to just being given them because theyāre animated are actually peak movies
Like Pinocchio by Del Toro is so sick because it mentions facism, has contemplations of death and immorality, on screen attempted crucifixion etc WITH A PG RATING
Puss in boots last wish has 8 on screen deaths at least, censored swear words, a realistic depiction of a panic attack etc WITH A PG RATING
Kung fu panda 2 has on screen attempted genocide WITH A PG RATING
Iām getting sick of stuff being given laurels for being not terrible and Iām sick of the bar being lowered so everyone can participate. I think truly talented people exist in the movie industry, and their voices are getting harder hear through all the crap. Itās sad.
I donāt know how to better articulate this point right now. Maybe another time.

Okay, but like- When you have a shutdown from all of the noise and you can't ask to leave the room since it's too noisy, so you just wait until everyone else leaves. Then all of the sudden it's time for a break so you go outside and hangout with your friends but you're too tired to talk still, just recovering from everything and then when you get to go home your senses are really high and everything is overwhelming even without noise. So you go home and have a nap but then when you have to go to sleep for bed or whatever you can't since your mind is only focused on what happened earlier that day and now you're just wondering what to do.

Sea of Stars Final Thoughts
See this post for my initial thoughts. Comprehensive spoilers to follow, obviously.
---
1) World design was the highlight of the game for me. Each area looked unique and was fun to navigate around, and the way they were able to integrate some puzzle design into it was quite nice. Using the Graplou to get around felt super-smooth, which isn't always the case in isometric-style platformers.
2) Combat was solid but really not much of a challenge. I never game-overed on a boss up to and including the final boss, and both times I did lose was just a mob where I went in without bothering to heal. The key reason for this was SeraĆÆ's Disorient was busted and allowed my team to rip through every single-enemy boss like tissue paper. And most bosses were single enemies. You just keep hitting them with turn delays and then they never take turns. Tack on Arcane Barrage and Great Eagle later on in the game and it gets pretty ridiculous.
I mean, lock-breaking is a neat idea but I've experienced very similar things done better in Octopath Traveler's break/boost system, and when I was fighting bosses I kind of wanted to just be doing a game that didn't depend so much on timed hits. Bravely Default II included similarly stunlock-focused moves like BP Depleter or the Bravebearer class' entire moveset, and the main criticism of that game was how it had a counter system where late-game bosses would randomly counter actions taken by the player in ways that many, myself included, felt were punishing and unfair design. And I feel like this game showed me the other side of what happens when you just let a move like Disorient be usable without any sort of punishment.
Crustaleon dropped minions that lasted more then one multitarget attack before he could be delayed, and the Sea Slug dropped boulders even when it wasn't its turn, and I was excited to see one or both of those mechanics be folded into the final boss battle. Given this, the final fight with Aephorul felt like a real anticlimax. It was just a literal curb stomp for the heroes. Aephorul got to take like, 5 whole turns.
All that said, I enjoyed managing and being able to swap out the party of 6 in real time was nifty. I just wish they had done more with it in terms of late-game/true ending bosses with some real teeth.
3) The music was great. Particularly a fan of the Dweller boss theme mix that plays during the Dweller of Torment fight, and that super-amped Glacial Peak theme.
4) Writing/story was where I felt the game really ran into real inconsistencies. If I divide the game into acts.
The first act, up until the Dweller of Woe fight, I was fairly consistently not enjoying the story. The second act, from the Sea of Nightmares to Swan Song of the Warrior Cook, I found to be genuinely inspired. The third act, SeraĆÆ's World, Fated Hour up until the final boss fight, did well but also felt like it was somewhat coasting to the end off the strength of the second act. (Resh'an kind of just quits the story after you fight the birds to scroll through his text history with Aephorul and I was expecting him to play a mildly bigger part in the true ending.)
And the pirate dialogue in particular had some real turds that came off as mean-spirited rather than humorous. It's okay to have a story with some whimsy and humor, and for an RPG to poke fun at itself or the genre in general. But there were some jokes there that just personally felt sour to me. Case in point:

My honest opinion is that when the entire second half of your game boils down to using one move on bosses repeatedly until they die, maybe cut the Keenathan half of that exchange. The game and the script is more than this, but that's the quote I'll remember from it the most.
5) All that said, the cast had its moments. Garl is the good boy of all time, and while I'm neutral on Resh'an and SeraĆÆ as characters they had this great dynamic during the Dweller of Strife fight that ultimately leads to the warrior cook's untimely death.
Resh'an: "The rules exist for a reason and people will get hurt if I break them." SeraĆÆ: "People have gotten hurt following your god damn rules!"
Given that a) Garl dies as a result of SeraĆÆ tossing the vial of time at the Dweller and b) Valere and Zale would have died had she not done so, the script leaves room for them to both be kind of right, which I thought was a neat and nuanced writing decision.
I kind of wished they had explored it a bit more, too. Valere and Zale understandably focus on what Garl does while living on borrowed time and that does take precedence. However, after the funeral, it may have been effective for one of them to exchange some harsh words with SeraĆÆ over her decision back there. That would have helped crystallize them as two distinct characters with a wider range of emotions. As opposed to just being Garl's matching sidepieces. (Which is itself a fine role, still!)
---
To be clear, I liked Sea of Stars quite a bit! I had beef with some specific elements that keeps it out of my top tier of pixel RPGs, but more than anything I'm really, extremely appreciative that people make games like this. Will look forward to seeing whatever Sabotage does next.

My thoughts on Disney's Star Wars "sequels"
DISCLAIMER: I have only seen the first of the three "sequel trilogy" films, and only once, when it was relatively recent. All my I do not recall the details of it particularly well, and all of my knowledge of the latter two films comes from cultural osmosis, so please take everything I say here with a grain of salt, as the saying goes.
So, Disney, huh? I haven't touched anything that shithole company has done for years. I shy away from anything with their branding on it. The one thing from them I mostly liked since 2012 was Deadpool 2, and even that had some elements I take issue with.
But that is neither here nor there. This post is about Star Wars. Or rather, the mockery of Star Wars that The Walt Disney Company has made of the once-beloved franchise.
Now, I have nothing to say about the Sequels' characterisation. I am not familiar enough with the films to make such a comment. Instead, I wish to discuss the rather insulting premise of the films.
Now, I suspect it was done in response to the stigma around the genuinely creative but questionably directed Prequel Trilogy. Abrams (and the films' producers) likely suspected that the public would not take kindly to another film that was "un-Star Wars-like" in the same vein. And given how The Phantom Menace was initially received, this line of thinking was not entirely unreasonable. However, the resulting film, The Force Awakens, had the exact opposite problem - it was too similar to A New Hope, to the point where it may as well have been a rehash.
After a series of films as divisive as the Prequel Trilogy, it's hard to blame Lucasfilm's new owners for wanting to play it safe. However, Abrams played it too safe. The Force Awakens uses some incredibly contrived backstory elements to essentially restore the status quo of the Original Trilogy in all but name, rendering everything Luke et al did over the course of those three films a moot point.
Now, a modernised retelling of the classic "rebels versus empire" storyline isn't a bad idea in and of itself, but the plot, aesthetics and overall tone were so similar to ANH that one can't help but wonder if someone making the decisions at Lucasfilm would rather have made an actual remake of the original film with a new cast and modern production values. And honestly, I'd quite like to see that.
I could say more, but it's late and this post is wordy enough as it is. I might say some more about the First Order and why they are questionable villans in a reblog some other time, but for now, this has been my thoughts on Disney Wars. Thank you for your time.

I've been playing Elden Ring a lot lately and I can agree with everyone saying that the game is great. It also fucking sucks too.
You have a huge open map with zones interconnected, sorta like in Dark Souls 1 and going around and collecting things and doing tiny dungeons is fun. You can now customize your weapons to suit your stats and even give them the special abilities you want on them (when available), so you can use any weapon you want and make it work. There are so many NPCs too, it feels like empty and desolate than other souls games despite the large. There's also so many creatures and monsters, its a lot of variety. You can make items by collecting resources so not many things are finite per playthrough and you don't have to spend souls on consumables often. The character costumization is nice, lots of options to make your character look good or ugly, a bit better than Dark Souls 3 but the hairstyles still suck.
The PVP is a mess, everyone has special moves and big spells that are not really thought for PVP, they're super cool and all that but its freaking insane how much damage you do, not to count status effects, which are now way more annoying. You can summon NPC phantoms of monsters to help you which is kind of cool but you can only summon them on specific places, they're not great at killing as they are at being punch bags and I personally feel like they take the incentive of summoning other players for multiplayer. Also you can only summon other players in areas with bosses, once the boss dies you can't summon them again, like in other souls games, but the map is so goddamn large that you might not even know where you can co-op or not, which sucks because you might want to enjoy exploring and having fun with your pals and you're just so limited about it unless you mod the game. The hammers in the game are still kind of meh. The game also kind of just throws you out there, no clear main quest line unless you're actually paying attention to every NPC, but maybe that's just me, it also doesn't help that many of the bosses are optional. The firelink shrine equivalent... I don't like it, I get the idea but its just not that memorable to me.

Dogs are confusing sometimes
Iām a pet sitter and Iām currently at a pet sit with two dogs and two cats. Iāve been sitting for these dogs for 13 years and Iāve noticed that they have this confusing and frustrating quirk. When we walk to a certain part of their neighbourhood, near a small playground that has a public garbage bin, the dogs (a greyhound and a Shiba Inu, but I donāt think breed has much to do with it) find the most interesting smell at the other end of the leash and somewhat refuse to keep walking the 5/10/15 feet to the trash bin. It somehow seems like they know Iām mere feet away from not having to carry their full poop bag anymore and think āOh, cool! The most amazing smell Iāve ever smelled! I must stand here and sniff, forever!ā. I donāt mind letting them sniff after (key word there!) I've thrown out the poop but having to wait while they decide if they want to listen to me. Iām aware that Shibaās are very stubborn but itās still annoying. As is walking two dogs if different heights and personalities. The greyhound is a sweetheart who loves people and some other dogs, the Shiba likes his humans, seems to like me (Iāve known him pretty much his whole life) and doesnāt like dogs. Or walks much. Heās a sweetheart, in a different way. Heās very chill and quiet! They both are. Except the greyhound, when I accidentally step on him because I didnāt realize he was underfoot. He doesnāt seem to understand how tall he is and that heās too often in the way.
Anyway, if anyone (dog behaviourists or something similar) can tell me why dogs do that (the slowing down close to the garbage bin), Iād love to know.
Iām pretty sure most of the other dogs I sit for donāt do this, but I might not be remembering the other ones who do.
