5/27/24.

I don't know why I'm surprised by this - given the sheer amount of music I listen to it's inevitable that I forget about bands I've posted here.

But this is the 3rd post about the work of this Melbourne, Australia based band that serves as the vehicle for the work of Dylan Young. In the past Lachlan Denton served as the drummer. Liam "Snowy" Halliwell mastered the last album "So Familiar" and plays saxophone here. Good Morning's Stefan Blair co-produced and engineered this. So Dylan Young has connections to some of Australia's best musicians

"Material" grooves and sounds more indie pop than other songs that are clearly influenced, as the Bandcamp page states, by The Beach Boys and Nillson. Previous posts also mentioned Field Music and Steely Dan.

This is being released by Spoilsport Records (Australia) and Earth Libraries (US).

the 'all marriage is gay as far as im concerned' except its me watching a man and woman character in a show i like and accidentally saying 'theyre so gay' because i literally forget thats not the word for romance because to me all romance is gay

10/13/24.

There's only one song currently up on Charlie Ivan Band's debut LP "Where The Dogs Go To Die", and it's one I've listened to over and over. It reminds me of the beauty of Able Tasmans combined with the songwriting of Michael Beach. It's just stunning.

Go ahead and listen to the EP from 2022 because two of those songs have been rerecorded for this release. They both employ the haunting piano from "I'll Take You Down" (the two songs are "Southwest Wind" and "Raining Song").

While the Bandcamp page states that the Charlie Ivan Band are based in Melbourne, I think they also spend time in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. If this is true, this might be the first time I've listened to an Australian band from the midsection of the country. It also might give us a clue to the source of the haunting but beautiful music.

This looks to be self-released. It's produced by Dylan Young (Way Dynamic) and mastered by Snowy.

I HC that Dick's family endangering themselves is one of the only things that really pisses him off, so this is how Robin: Son of Batman happens in my head:

Damian: "I'm leaving on an important mission to atone for my sins. I don't know how long I'll be gone. Goodbye."

Dick: "That sounds serious. Should I bring our Batmobile?"

Damian: "No, you are not coming. This is something I have to do alone."

Dick: "Agreed, this should stay between us. I won't even tell Alfred."

Damian, frowning: "No, you are not listening to me. Only I am going."

Dick, nodding: "Mhm, just you and me, like the good ol' days."

Damian, seething: "You are being obtuse on purpose."

Dick: "Yes, yes I am. Because you are twelve and as important as it is, you are definitely not allowed to go on this trip. So either you let me come along or you're grounded."

Damian, bewildered: "What? You cannot ground me! We do not even live in the same house anymore!"

Dick: "You want to test that theory? :)"

Damian, sensing danger: ".........On second thought, I will let you tag along."

Dick: "Good choice. I'll fire up the Batmobile."
