can we start placing bets about the live action voltron movie. everyone download draftkings right now
#shitpost#voltron#I’m pretty sure they’re adapting the original anime so like who knows what’s going to happen#I feel like they’re not going to make Allura a Paladin and they’ll like tease it in the lead up to the movie but they won’t actually do it#they’ll probably save making Allura a Paladin in the sequel that will never happen because this movie is going to die at the box office#I think they’re going to make all the paladins white or white passing with maybe the exception of hunk#I do think they’ll make Allura a woman of color but the vibes are going to be soooo weird I am already praying for her future actress#also I guarantee there will be romantic tension between Allura and keith and then conservatives are going to post rage bait articles#about them being a mixed race couple

thinking about how armand was turned bc he was dying from being stabbed by a scorned grown man who was in love with him. he nearly died from rejecting unwanted advances. its such a key explicit detail of his origin that teaches him yet again that what he wants is utterly unimportant and even deadly in the face of survival. everything about his character is informed by the fact that he adapts entirely to the situation he is forced into because that's the only way he can survive. he adopts the satanic doctrine for 200 years not because he believes in it but because he knows that is the only way he'll survive and as soon as lestat arrives he knows he can abandon it. for half a millenium he believes he can't get what he wants and also survive, he has to choose one or the other. God.
#anne rice you craft such utterly insanely complex rich tragic characters#the vampire armand#iwtv#interview with the vampire#armand#honey talks#honey writes#i guess#also i suppose#iwtv spoilers#if u dont know his Lore#i'll be so interested to see how they adapt his origins because i really do think this is so integral to his entire character#he would have died for saying no. horrific

A story about the director and Grim, who are very close friends <3
Translation from fan to fan, all credits go to the appropriate artist, see the source in the pin below:https://br.pinterest.com/pin/902690319055568233/

Who else wants to see Grim's final form? but…. What cost would this have?

Me: Wow, the Netflix ATLA was better than what I expected. Indeed, it felt too rushed, probably because they were asked to do only 8 episodes like everything in the platform; but they were still able to capture the feeling of the original, and it was an enjoyable show. Not to mention the effects, those were so well done, especially Zuko fire kicks, I loved those.
Me: *checks internet opinions*
Me: Oh... I'm supposed to hate this adaptation.
#i don't by the way#i enjoyed every episode#loved the cast#loved the visuals#it obviously doesn't compare with the original#but that is because it is an ADAPTATION#impatiently waiting for more seasons#i want to se Toph!!#atla#natla#avatar the last airbender#avatar netflix#avatar aang#katara#sokka#zuko#iroh#ozai#azula#avatar

Which adaptation of Sherlock Holmes is the most queer?

*not including House M.D. because it's not really an adaptation, or any overtly queer pastiches like My Dearest Holmes or The Adventure of the Furtive Festivity because that's not really a fair contest
#I'm on a sherlock holmes kick at the moment and this feels justifiable#because a lot of people in the original sherlock poll said 'it depends on the adaptation' and that's true. so which is the queerest?#you can interpret this as the representation of sherlock's sexuality (ace or gay or both or whatever) or just the overall vibes#imo there is no one right answer but there are few wrong answers#also I'm sure I'm missing some but he's literally the most commonly adapted character ever. I had to draw a line somewhere#sherlock holmes#arthur conan doyle#basil rathbone#the private life of sherlock holmes#robert stevens#soviet sherlock holmes#granada holmes#jeremy brett#sherlock holmes 2009#robert downey jr#bbc sherlock#benedict cumberbatch#cbs elementary#elementary sherlock#jonny lee miller#enola holmes#henry cavill#johnlock

y'know what actually pisses me off every time some shitty adaptation drops??? it's when fans of the original are rightfully disappointed and make valid criticisms of ways the adaptation betrayed the themes of the source material and snobby assholes who've turned their brain off for the day brush them off like "erm... its an ADAPTATION ofc things are gonna be different 🙄 its not gonna be a one-to-one adaptation you just hate changes"
like... no. thats not true. at all.
im fine with (and often DELIGHTED by) changes that actually add something enjoyable to the story and/or expand on the original themes. it's when the adaptation makes "changes" that completely spit on the source material and contradict its message that people get pissed off. its not that we hate changes. we just hate dumb ones
but im sure the ppl whose favorite response to criticism is to go "ugh its an ADAPTATION get over it 🙄" without actually thinking about it don't care to understand that
(This is not about racist pissbabies who throw tantrums about some disney princess not being white BTW yall can get fucked)
#for example (befitting the url): the adaptation of the rience scene being burning his fingers? the yennskier injected into season two?#joeys portrayal of jaskier in general? WONDERFUL adaptation changes that i genuinely adored#tree eskel? BURN IT. leave it to the wolves#and now with the new lilo and stitch like? yeah no shit its an adaptation & its not a one to one.#but these changes? DOGSHIT that spits on the original. hope this helps <3#mine

Releasing Nimona on the last day of pride month 2023 was such a great move because it’s a really needed piece of media right now. Lots of countries that legalised gay marriage years ago have been grappling with this rising TERF narrative of “if you’re gay it’s whatever but if you’re trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming in some way you’re a PERVERT! A MONSTER trying to GROOM CHILDREN!” The outrage against simple things like pronouns and drag events, and the movement against gender affirming healthcare have reached a terrifying peaks for contemporary times.
So a kid’s movie set in a fictional country with controlling government officials with personal agendas, with an openly gay couple but also a shape-shifting kid who cannot even be afford to be out is our reality in the US today. Nimona’s feelings about her vibe, body and form, her insistence that she is only “Nimona” no matter what she looks like and her aversion to “small-minded questions” together forms such a beautiful allegory about trans, genderfluid individuals.
Ballister asks her to be a girl, but for whose sake? It’s only for the comfort of people who refuse to understand her, and would rather see her die than let her be herself. And it’s this widespread rejection and loneliness that has eventually made Nimona indifferent to pain, that makes her feel suicidal.
In the end, it is another member of the LGBTQ+ community that truly sees and accepts Nimona for who she is. And that should be a reminder that we cannot let them divide us. Trans people stood up for the rest of us and made historical change happen, and we need to do the same for them. Besides, cis queer people are only the “good ones” until they’re done with trans people and then will turn on us.

Happy May 4th, my fellow Holmesians and Sherlockians! The day that Sherlock pushed Moriarty into the Reichenbach Falls in 1891. Or otherwise known as the day that Doyle tried to kill off Sherlock, and failed fantastically.

every other crime fiction author looked at Sherlock Holmes and said "hmm, he never shows any interest in women and he hates small talk, this must be because he is incredibly psychologically disturbed due to some dark backstory. we should make this the standard for detective characters going forward"
my brother in christ, have you considered that maybe he's just gay and autistic?
#based on a discussion I had with a tutoring student. he's writing an essay about sherlock holmes and crime genre conventions#and I said “holmes isn't emotionally distant and solitary in a stoic hypermasculine hard-boiled detective way. he's just Like That”#and he asked where the femme fatale archetype comes from if Holmes isn't attracted to women and I was like 'well that originates from 1930s#film noirs etc etc but also let me tell you about my good friend irene adler and how a century of adaptations have done her dirty'#sherlock holmes#acd holmes
