Some mathematicians claim they can visualize R^4, or even higher-dimensional spaces. I think this is probably possible for the human mind to do, in principle; the human mind often proves surprisingly flexible. But I think it probably takes a lot of concerted practice, and because you are stretching your mind beyond its intended limits in a purely-internal, imaginative way with no external reference points to check against, I think it probably has some things in common with certain types of meditative practice.
It's also common to hear mathematicians say that if humans had visual intuition for dimensions higher than 3, higher-dimensional geometry may have advanced much farther, since visual intuition is so often crucial in thinking of proofs.
So, ok, I suspect that AI will obviate the utility of this before it could ever have the chance to get off the ground, but this all makes me imagine a world where techniques for learning to visualize higher dimensions are well-known and practiced, and have become a functional necessity for being a working geometer in higher-than-3-dimensions. And these techniques require a lot of persistent practice and training, which (by the nature of the thing) is hard to precisely communicate to students. So part of becoming a geometer involves training in what is basically a meditative practice, where, Ă la Zen, much of the process involves not directly teaching the student but giving them prompts and mental exercises that are meant to trigger internal, incommunicable revelation. But instead of enlightenment it's geometric intuition. And so if we're getting a math PhD in, say, differential equations or something, it's mostly like it is today. But if your PhD is in low-dimensional topology there's like a whole monastic apprenticeship style thing that just comes along with it. People sometimes drive themselves insane. People sometimes drive themselves insane.

Did any of the Strawhat's even go to school?
Chapter 1134 has sparked discussions on the state of the Strawhat's education, so I figured I would do a little analysis on my thoughts on it based on canon.
Luffy- Feral jungle child. Makino probably taught him to read and write, and attempted to teach him manners. Jury is out on whether or not Garp actually taught him anything. Doesn't seem to know much history. Does know beetles, and probably a lot of survival skills, including hunting.

Zoro- Ok this is the real reason why I made this post.
A dĹjĹ (éĺ ´, Japanese pronunciation: [doęË(d)ĘoË]) is a hall or place for immersive learning, experiential learning, or meditation. This is traditionally in the field of martial arts. The term literally means "place of the Way" in Japanese. -Wikipedia
Isshin Dojo (ä¸ĺżéĺ ´, Isshin DĹjĹ?) is a kenjutsu school, a school of Japanese swordsmanship. Its owner is Koushirou, who is a skilled swordsman and father of the deceased Kuina. It is the place where Zoro trained his Three Sword Style and in the anime is the only dojo Zoro did not take down the sign of. -One Piece Wiki, Emphasis added by me
As a member of the Isshin Dojo Zoro has attended school! Koshiro taught him primarily swordsmanship and meditation, but someone taught him reading, writing, and math and I'm just going to guess it's Koshiro as well. Seems to know a bit of sword-related history, but not much world or local history.

Nami-Stole education books. Not formally educated. Everything was probably taught by Bellemere and the rest was learned on the fly. Probably knows the basics of mainstream world history. Is capable of formulating advanced equations, and has vast sailing, navigation, cartography and weather knowledge. Studied at Weatheria during the timeskip, but it doesn't seem like a formal institution.

Usopp - Orphaned street rat. Unknown who taught him to read, write, and do math. Possibly Banchina before she passed away. Somehow he knows chemistry and engineering? Might have borrowed books from Kaya? Mostly self-taught it seems.

Sanji- Definitely has a formal education, up until he ran away. Noble child who had a variety of tutors. Learned whatever noble children learn plus a variety of fighting techniques and fields of science. Then was taught cooking by Zeff. Boy definitely knows how to do math. Anyone who cooks for a large group of people can at least multiply on the fly, or has a calculator taped to the wall. One Piece appears to use the metric system, so at least he doesn't have to figure out how to quadruple a recipe that originally called for 1 2/3 cups of flour.
Chopper - Professionally taught by Dr. Kureha (and Dr. Hililuk). They are both referred to as Doctors, but it is unknown what sort of medical knowledge is actually needed for that title, or if there is like a degree or anything. Assumably one of them taught him reading, writing, math, and chemistry in addition to medical stuff. Also read all of the books in the Torino Kingdom during the timeskip. According to the wiki, Kureha established an academy during the timeskip.
After establishing a medical academy, she taught and trained at least eighty students who became skilled enough to join the Isshi-20, expanding their members to a hundred under her leadership.

Robin- Got a degree in archaeology at the age of 8. Has all of the reading, writing, and history skills, including dead languages. While she taught herself how to read the poneglyphs, I think it's safe to say that Professor Clover taught her regular history, math, science, reading, and writing. Robin went to school!
Franky - Apprenticeship under the shipwright Tom. His state of education was unknown before meeting Tom at age 10. Should know all of the basic skills (reading, writing, math) in addition to carpentry, and shipbuilding. Tom's Workers is referred to as a shipbuilding company, so I don't think it counts as a school? Knows at least enough medical knowledge to turn himself into a cyborg with scraps from a ghost ship after being runover by a train. And Survive. Somehow.

Brook- APPARENTLY??? Stated that school makes him nostalgic, which implies he attended. Also knows a variety of things usually nobility would, namely various musical instruments and fencing. He also knows sailing, and various other things to be a battle convoy leader and pirate captain. I have questions for this man.

Jinbe - Dojo again, this time the Fish-Man Karate Dojo. Later joined the Neptune Army. So, since a dojo counts as a type of specialized school, he's attended a school as well as had military training! Knows basic historical stuff, especially that pertaining to fishmen and human-fishman relations. Seems to know other basic life skills (reading, writing, math, ect)

So, in conclusion:
Went to school: Zoro, Robin, Brook, Jinbe
Private Tutors: Sanji
Vocational Training under a Professional: Sanji, Chopper. Franky, Nami,
Self Taught with some instruction by a parent or other adult (non-professional): Luffy, Nami, Usopp
Out of the ten members, 4 of them attended a school of some sort and several others had some sort of professional training or supervision of study.
Feel free to add on if I missed anything!
#most of this was from the wiki and skimming their backstories in the manga#we don't know much about some of the later members actually childhood though#so its hard to say#it amuses me greatly that Zoro is in the school category#one piece#strawhat pirates#one piece chapter 1134#monkey d luffy#roronoa zoro#nami#usopp#sanji#tony tony chopper#nico robin#franky#brook#jinbe#one piece meta#one piece analysis#one piece elbaf arc#elbaf#omg we're in elbaf! its still so cool#my post#this took like an hour help

Meditation and shifting : what techniques, for who, and how?
Little disclaimer: meditation is never mandatory, but it can seriously help calm your mind and support shifting.
1)Types of meditation (overview)
1ď¸âŁGuided meditation
2ď¸âŁBreath-focused meditation
3ď¸âŁBody scan
4ď¸âŁMantra meditation
5ď¸âŁ Transcendental meditation
6ď¸âŁVisualization
7ď¸âŁMindfulness
1ď¸âŁGuided Meditation
â What? Following a spoken voice, usually via YouTube or an app
â Who? People with anxiety who need reassurance
â Audio? Gentle voice + soft background sounds
â Advantage: helps you avoid getting lost in thoughts
â Shifting? Yes, great for beginners
youtube
If you like long and gentle things like meditation I recommend this.
youtube
youtube
If you prefer short things, I recommend this.
2ď¸âŁ Breath-Focused Meditation
â What? Placing all your attention on your inhale/exhale
â Who? Anyone dealing with stress
â Audio? White noise, rain sounds
â Advantage: lowers brainwaves (alpha)
â Shifting? Yes, excellent as a base before visualization
youtube
youtube
youtube
You can also do that alone while listening to pink or white noise
3ď¸âŁBody Scan
â What? Mentally scanning each part of your body
â Who? People with physical tension
â Audio? Binaural beats or nature sounds
â Advantage: relaxes the muscles + anchors awareness
â Shifting? More as preparation, not necessarily a shifting trigger
youtube
This kind of wave can be ideal when practicing this meditation.
4ď¸âŁ Mantra Meditation
â What? Repeating a word or phrase
â Who? Those with a hyperactive mind
â Audio? Tibetan sounds, singing bowls
â Advantage: stabilizes your focus
â Shifting? Yes, especially to reinforce intention (e.g. âI am safe in my DRâ)
youtube
This kind of video and sound is super suitable for that.
youtube
5ď¸âŁ Transcendental Meditation
â What? Repeating a secret sound (usually learned from a teacher)
â Who? Advanced or very motivated people
â Audio? Often none
â Advantage: reaches very deep states (theta waves)
â Shifting? Can help, but definitely not mandatory
youtube
6ď¸âŁ Visualization
â What? Mentally creating images
â Who? Daydreamers and imaginative people
â Audio? Calm movie soundtracks, DR-themed ambiences
â Advantage: builds a bridge with your DR
â Shifting? Huge yes, itâs at the core of most methods

You can create a playlist of your DR it personally help me a lot.
7ď¸âŁ Mindfulness
â What? Observing the present moment without judgment
â Who? Those who feel dissociated or disconnected
â Audio? Minimal nature sounds
â Advantage: reduces anxiety
â Shifting? Indirectly helpful, because it stabilizes your mental state and help detach from your CR identity.

This kind of video is really helpful in my opinion
My point of view
->Based on my research and experience, guided meditations + visualization are the best suited for shifting.
->But breathwork and mindfulness are perfect preparation tools, especially if youâre anxious.
->There is no one-size-fits-all method: test and journal what feels best for you.
->I invite you to see my blog on holotropic breathwork
Conclusion
Meditation is NOT required, but itâs a powerful boost
Take your time, be gentle with yourself
If you want me to break down one of these meditations in detail, tell me in the comments!
This was an answer to one of my ask too
Happy shifting

Thereâs an agenda against women.
We are living in a world where powerful figures manipulate our reality, dictating what is acceptable or unacceptable according to their twisted standards. While they go by many different names, I often refer to them as "the powers that be." They are male supremacists who abhor the very existence of women and aim to obliterate our rights.
Sisters, it is crucial that you understand the depth of this misogynyâit is not merely a byproduct of society but a deliberate orchestration by these sinister forces. They control the entertainment industry and have infiltrated our government; agencies like the CIA and FBI are in their service. They are the puppet masters funding red pill channels and the proliferation of pornography, using actors and puppets like Candace Owens, Andrew Tate, and Brett Cooper to spew their venomous propaganda and to shape public opinion on women's social issues.
Take a moment to reflect: the most popular celebrities, politicians, and social media personalities are just pawns in an elaborate game, playing roles crafted far in advance. The saying "All the world's a stage" has never rung truer. This is all meticulously planned, all designed to keep us controlled and complacent.
But itâs not just about the overt manipulationâwe are also subjected to relentless psychological warfare. Music, a powerful tool of cognitive control, is weaponized against us. It can hypnotize our minds, lull us into emotional submission, and shift our focus away from the truth. Here are a few ways in which music achieves thisÂ
1. Rhythmic Patterns - The repetitive nature of music can induce a trance-like state, allowing listeners to enter a focused or meditative mindset. The rhythm can synchronize with our bodyâs natural rhythms, promoting relaxation.Â
2. Melodic Structures - Certain melodies can evoke powerful emotions and memories, guiding listeners into altered states of consciousness. This emotional resonance can facilitate deep insight or reflection.
3. Brainwave Entrainment -Â Â Music can influence brainwave patterns through specific frequencies. For example, certain types of music can promote alpha or theta brainwaves, which are associated with relaxation and increased creativity.
4. Guided Imagery -Â Â When combined with lyrical content or specific themes, music can enhance guided imagery techniques, further deepening the hypnotic experience.
Here are some good videos explaining it -Â
https://youtu.be/rTJVWCUpJEI?si=rSbf1PaL91Xu966I
youtube
And https://youtu.be/QkHOXuY8C58?si=PbnGqfFmSBenInKE
youtube
In summary, music's unique combination of rhythm, melody, and emotional depth allows it to act as a powerful catalyst for trance-like states, making it an effective form of hypnosis.
Why does this matter? Because every day, countless women are being brainwashed by celebrity singers who encourage them to prioritize male pleasure above their own. Take SZA's song "Snooze," for instance. When you dive into the lyrics, it becomes painfully clear: this song glorifies male worship and being complete doormats for Men.
Imagine the impact of continuously absorbing these messagesâhow they seep into our minds and alter our actions, making us believe that our worth is tied to someone else's satisfaction. This is not just entertainment; it's a dangerous manipulation of our identity and self-worth!
I urge youâspare no time! Study psychological warfare and arm yourself with knowledge. Approach the world with a critical mindset. Question everything, challenge the narratives, and never accept what is presented at face value.

Neve's visit (Manfred learns about rings part 2)
As part of my EmmRook post game collection, I wrote a short fic about Manfred learning about rings (their use in magic but also their symbolism) which can be found here.
Here is the sequel. Enjoy! (could contain spoilers for the end of the game)
(Side Note: all my EmmRook fics can be found on AO3)
Emmrich was pacing. It was an unusual behaviour for him, reserved only to his reflexions on the most complex scientific questions he faced as a scholar. However he was not working now, but the fact remained that he was crossing the living room for the umpteenth time under Rookâs half amused, half worried gaze.
She sat on the meridian, waiting for Neve to arrive. It was the first time they would see her since Manfred bought her a gift; a pretty snake-shaped silver hairpin. If Emmrich had always had a very good relationship with Neve amongst the Veilguard, the prospect of the gift giving visibly caused him some distress.
âI never thought Iâd get to experience a meeting with the in-laws while being the in-lawsâ Rookâs usual jest had the benefit of stopping Emmrich in his tracks.
He turned to her, a slight frown creasing the perfect line of his dark brows. â Darling, this is nothing of the sortâ He corrected her âMerely a reunion with an old acquaitance, in which Manfred will happen to gift a significantly costly jewel to a charming womanâ Emmrich was talking with his hands, which he did when passionnate, but mostly when nervous. âPeople exchange gifts all the time. There is no particular stake in this particular exchangeâ
So he tried to convince himself. Rook shook her head, a fond grin splitting her lips. She got up and slowly stepped up to her husband.
She placed a hand on his elbow in a gesture that became as familiar as breathing. âThen why are you more tensed than before an important watcherâs assembly?â She teased him, caressing up his arm until her hand was on his stiff shoulder. âWeâre seeing Neve. Itâs going to be nice. Relax. â
Emmrich sighed. âI canâtâ He breathed in defeat, lowering his head until his forehead was resting against Rookâs.
âIf we had more time, Iâd offer plenty of ways to distract youâ Rook whispered, her lips drawing closer to his.
Emmrich was usually a master of self-control. In the Watch, her learned meditation and breathing techniques to ground oneself, and how to be detached and impassible. But his naturally emotional nature still came back when dealing with matters important to him; more often matters of the heart than of the mind. Matters he couldnât reason with.
Another sigh, but Emmrich didnât pull back. âDearest, you always do choose the most interesting times for your advancesâ He placed a hand on Rookâs waist and brought their faces closer. âI could certainly be tempted to indulge in you. It would make the wait far more pleasant indeedâ
Emmrichâs poetic way with words always made Rook melt. She was surprised her flirting went through but neednât be convinced any further, and pressed her lips against his in a tender kiss.
If their kissing started chaste, slow and comfortable, Emmrich grew bolder as he gladly lost himself in the distraction and comfort his wife offered. His second hand came to craddle the base of Rookâs skull, fingers carefully threading in her hair as he gently but firmly angled her head to deepen the kiss. His bangles sang as he teased her bottom lip with his tongue, and when she parted her lips, wickedly slipped inside, in a move only he held the secret to, that still made Rookâs knees weak even after years of practice.
Rook pressed closer to him, lacing her fingers behind his neck in an embrace that was only known to true kindred spirits. Together they formed a perfect entity, in a pose that could remind one of the romantic tableaux exposed in Orlais, painted to praise the devotion of eternal lovers.
While he thoroughly lost himself in Rookâs mouth, Emmrich moved his legs with intent so that his thigh ended up pressed flush against her center. Rookâs resulting moan was music to his ears, so promising. Too bad the next thing those ears caught was the sharp noise of a knock on the door.
The two lovers barely had time to step away from each other before Manfred came rushing down the stairs. The spirit made a beeline for the door, eager to be the one to welcome their guest. In his hurry, Manfred thankfully didnât notice how breathy and flustered his caretakers were. They gladly let him open the door while they recovered from their promising but interrupted tryst.
âIâll get the teaâ Emmrich offered, reluctantly moving away from his wife.
Rook nodded, and after running a hand through her hair to make sure it was still in place, she headed to the entrance to greet Neve.
- - -
Neve Gallus was as always delightful company. Under her strict and cool appearance was a heart of gold. Ever thoughtful, she brought an offering of Carastian candy, chocolate coated treats from Tevinter, that she knew Rook enjoyed (Emmrich didnât have as much of a sweet tooth as his wife, but he was known to indulge in them sometimes while grading papers).
She came alone, Lucanis being busy on a contract; which was probably better given Manfredâs generosity was reserved to her.
Neve got them up to date with the situation in Minrathous in more detail than she did in letters, and once it was done, they discussed more casual matters: recent activites and funny or scandalous anecdotes. Emmrich, ever the social butterfly, was absorbed in the conversation, but his never ending stirring of his tea told Rook that part of him was still slightly nervous.
At one point, Neve asked about Manfredâs learnings. The skeleton had been quietly sitting beside her, but he perked up when prompted with questions about his training at the Necropolis. While Manfred told Neve a few stories in his own imperfect way with words, Rook wondered if maybe he could be nervous about giving Neve her gift. Wisps were drawn to Neve, and Manfred was no exception. He always enjoyed her best amongst all their friends. But could he have learned reserve after spending so much time with humans?
It turned out Rook was completely wrong about that part, for two mere seconds after the skeleton finished explaining the most recent spell he learned, he announced. âPresent for youâ And promptly stood up to retrieve the pretty gift-bag he previously hid behind the couch.
Manfred proudly handed Neve the bag, and her usually hooded gaze widened. âFor me? Really?â She asked incredulous as she took the package.
âYeay!â Manfred confirmed and Neve chuckled.
âIâd say you shouldnât have, but that wouldnât be elegant of meâ She opened the bag and peeked inside before she retrieved a squarred black velvet box from it. âWow, this looks fancy. Whatâs the occasion Fred?â She asked, incredulous.
Rook heard Emmrich gulp beside her. She was hanging onto Manfredâs every word, eagerly awaiting his answer.
âTo thank you for the coat!â Manfred replied casually.
A beat of silence. Rook felt stupid.
Given the circumstances of Manfredâs purchase for Neve, Emmrich and her automatically connected it to the rings they bought and their meaning. They didnât even think to ask why Manfred wanted to get Neve a gift, probably too afraid of the answer. It didnât occur to them either that Manfred could feel obliged to Neve for gifting him a new coat as a reward when he graduated from his first cycle of apprenticeship. That day Emmrich had given Manfred a gift too, Rook remembered; his first ever magic staff. It had been a wonderful day of celebrations.
A muffled chuckle beside her made Rook turn to her husband. Emmrichâs laugh then turned light and airy, relieved and joyful. It wasnât often that Emmrich was caught laughing freely, and if the delightful sound of it surprised Neve, it sent butterflies in Rookâs stomach. She was grinning impossibly wide as her lover tried to cover his reciding laughter with the back of his hand in front of his mouth.
Neve looked to the couple with a frown but was unable to hide her own smile. âWhatâs so funny?â
âNothing. Just that Emmrich was so afraid Manfred wanted to elope with you he almost gave himself an ulcerâ Rook offered, voice singing with mischief.
âRook!â Emmrich protested. The pink slightly dusting his cheeks was adorable.
âWe were worried about the intentions Manfred put behind that gift and obviously made a too big deal out of itâ Rook continued explaining more seriously, not minding the glare Emmrich sent her.
Neve raised one thick and pretty eyebrow, visibly judging Manfredâs caretakers.
âWell, can I open it now?â She asked, admiteddly a little amused.
Rook nodded and Neve opened the velvet box under Manfredâs undivided attention. He had observed their exchange but didnât comment on it. Maybe he didnât understand everything and was more eager to see what Neve thought of his gift than to understand what all this was about.
A little gasp of surprise escaped the ice mage when her eyes landed on the refined piece of jewelry.
âI understand your worries nowâ She lowly whispered before she turned to Manfred. âYou truly shouldnât have... but I appreciate it. This is beautiful Fred. I love itâ
Manfred let out a victorious hiss, visibly happy with himself. Neve undid her coiffure, letting her long dark locks cascade on her shoulders. She took the hairpin and skillfully twisted her hair around it in a pretty updo. She turned her head both sides and asked. âHow is it Fred? Suits me?â
Manfred clapped and cheared, making Neve chuckle fondly at his antics.
Emmrich watched the exchange, arms crossed over his chest, but a smile on his lips. Rook let her hand travel to his thigh and inched closer. âRelieved my love ?â She whispered in his ear.
He sighed through his nose before he gave her a warm smile that lit up his rich brown eyes. âImpossibly so dearestâ

Journey to the West, OC, Her name is Aki

Aki's journey as a demon slayer was marked by fierce dedication and an unyielding sense of purpose. As the chief's daughter, she trained rigorously from a young age in martial arts, swordplay, and demon combat. Her skills and leadership quickly earned her a commanding role in her clan's demon-slayer army, where she became renowned for her fierce protection and efficiency.
Her unbreakable bond with her sister, who fought alongside her, was tragically disrupted when a god kidnapped her. Fueled by love and anger, Aki embarked on a relentless quest to rescue her sister, which led her through a trail of destruction and intense inner turmoil. Her rage threatened to consume her, pushing her towards a demonic transformation.
Intervention came from Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, who, with her compassion, performed a sacred ritual to halt Aki's descent into full demonhood. Although the ritual was not entirely successful, resulting in Aki becoming a half-demon, Guanyin's guidance provided a new direction. She taught Aki to embrace her dual nature, master her emotions, and channel her powers for healing and protection. Guanyin also guided her in understanding karma and using her skills to serve humanity and protect the vulnerable.
With renewed purpose, Aki continued her quest with the strength and wisdom imparted by Guanyin. Her journey was fraught with challenges, but her mastery of combat and divine abilities, coupled with her deepened empathy and balance, enabled her to confront and overcome formidable adversaries. Ultimately, Aki's quest led her to reconcile her inner struggles and emerge as a more powerful and compassionate warrior.
During her journey, Aki reached the desolate peaks of a remote mountain range, where she encountered a fierce battle between a fearsome demon and Xiwangmu, the Queen Mother of the West, who was ensnared by dark magic. Driven by a sense of urgency and resolve, Aki intervened, fighting with skill and determination to free the goddess. Despite the demon's immense power, Aki's precise strikes and divine wisdom helped her deliver a decisive blow, vanquishing the demon and breaking its dark enchantment.
Grateful and impressed by Aki's bravery, Xiwangmu presented her with the Fruit of Immortality, a divine gift that grants eternal youth and vitality. This fruit, glowing with eternal light, symbolized Xiwangmu's recognition of Aki's valor and was intended to aid her in her quest.
With renewed strength and purpose, Aki continued her journey, the Fruit of Immortality serving as a beacon of hope. Her relentless pursuit of the god who had kidnapped her sister took her across challenging landscapes and through intense trials, each step bringing her closer to her goal. Meanwhile, the gods observed her progress.
Xuanwu, the god of the North, impressed by Akiâs dedication and growth, approached her with an offer of further training. Recognizing her potential and the depth of her struggle, Xuanwu proposed to mentor her for a few years, aiming to enhance her abilities and prepare her for future challenges.
Initially surprised but honored, Aki accepted Xuanwu's offer for training with a blend of gratitude and eagerness. Under Xuanwuâs rigorous and transformative guidance, her skills and abilities were refined significantly. Xuanwuâs teachings focused on balance, endurance, and precise control, reflecting his divine authority and resilience.
Aki's training included:
Advanced Fighting Skills: Her swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat were honed to exceptional levels through intricate and demanding techniques.
Elemental Control: Xuanwu taught her to control water and wind, enhancing her combat strategies with weather manipulation.
Inner Balance: She learned to manage her demon half through strict discipline and meditation, achieving a balance between her human and demon natures.
Defensive Techniques: She mastered creating spiritual barriers to protect against evil spirits and curses.
Transformation: Aki was trained to shift between human, demon, and mystical forms, including those associated with Xuanwu, like the tortoise and snake.
Natural Energies: Xuanwu instructed her in harnessing natural energies for healing, purification, and creating beneficial elixirs.
Celestial Navigation: She learned to read the stars and predict events, understanding cosmic influences on her journey.
Leadership and Strategy: The training emphasized wisdom in battle and leadership, preparing her to command with insight.
Upon completing her training, Xuanwu gifted Aki the "Blade of the Northern Star," a divine sword symbolizing guidance, power, and protection. This weapon would serve as a beacon in her quest, further equipping her to confront challenges and move closer to rescuing her sister.
The Blade of the Northern Star is an ethereal sword with a celestial appearance:
Blade: Forged from celestial metals, it gleams with a silvery-blue hue, and its edge is impossibly sharp. Daoist symbols or constellation inscriptions faintly glow and shift with the user's intent.
Hilt: Carved with images of a tortoise entwined with a serpent, the grip is wrapped in dark blue and silver threads with jade inlays.
Guard: Resembles the outstretched wings of a phoenix with a small gem that glows faintly.
Powers of the sword include:
Mastery over Water: Control and manipulate water in all forms, from summoning waves to creating barriers.
Storm Calling: Summon northern winds, storms, thunder, and lightning.
Spirit Severance: Cut through physical and spiritual entities, dispel curses, and strike down celestial beings.
Guiding Light: Emit radiant light to illuminate dark places, guide travelers, and reveal hidden truths.
Soul Cleansing: Purify corrupted souls, heal spiritual wounds, and exercise possessions.
Celestial Recall: Return the sword to Xuanwu for divine guidance or assistance.
After two years of intense training under Xuanwu, Aki was granted the sword and prepared to continue her quest. Meanwhile, in his chaotic realm, Heidi, the god of chaos, was troubled by Akiâs growing power. Fearing her as a threat, he commanded Zhong Kui, the god of demons, to lead an army of 80,000 demons to defeat her.
Aki faced this formidable horde with fierce resolve, wielding the Blade of the Northern Star. The battle was intense, with Akiâs elemental powers and celestial sword cutting through the demonic forces. She ultimately confronted Zhong Kui, defeating him and demanding to know who was behind her sisterâs kidnapping.
Zhong Kui revealed that Heidi was responsible. Fueled by fury, Aki demanded to be taken to Heidi for justice. With no choice but to comply, Zhong Kui led Aki on a path toward confronting the chaotic god.
Zhong Kui guided Aki through dark portals and treacherous paths to the celestial realm where Heidi resided. The journey was fraught with tension, marked by Aki's barely-contained rage and Zhong Kuiâs silent apprehension.
Upon arriving, Aki was overwhelmed by the celestial realmâs beautyâswirling constellations and floating palacesâbut her focus remained on Heidi, who lounged on a chaotic throne. Without hesitation, Aki charged at Heidi with the Blade of the Northern Star, but her fury caused the sword to veer off course, ripping a massive gash through the celestial realm and causing chaos.
Heidi, initially stunned, quickly summoned storms and chaotic forces to counter Aki. The battle was intense, with Aki wielding her sword with precision, using elemental powers to batter Heidi. Despite Heidi's attempts to retaliate, he was overpowered by Aki's relentless assault.
As Aki prepared to deliver the final blow, the celestial army, led by a towering figure in radiant armor, intervened. They created a barrier between Aki and Heidi, and the leader decreed that the battle must end, citing the need to uphold celestial laws.
Aki, though furious, was forced to lower her sword. The celestial army's intervention reminded her that her quest for justice was far from over. She was then brought before the Jade Emperor in the grand Hall of Justice. Accused of almost killing a god, Aki faced a dire penalty of execution.
Just as the Jade Emperor was about to pass judgment, the Star of Venus, known for her wisdom and compassion, stepped forward. She requested that Aki's story be heard before any final decisions were made, suggesting that there might be more to the situation than was immediately apparent.
The Jade Emperor, after being urged by the Star of Venus, allowed Aki to present her case. Aki passionately explained that Heidi, the god of chaos, had kidnapped her sister and forced her into marriage. She had acted out of a desperate need for justice, not defiance of celestial laws. To support her claims, Aki produced artifacts including a celestial seal, a letter with Heidiâs chaotic symbols, and a piece of her sister's garment.
The Jade Emperor initially doubted the evidence but was persuaded by the Star of Venus to consider it seriously. He decided to place Heidi under celestial confinement while further investigation was conducted, deferring Aki's punishment.
The celestial court later convened to pass judgment on Heidi. He was found guilty of kidnapping, forced marriage, and dishonoring the celestial order. The Jade Emperor decreed that Heidi would be stripped of his divine status and banished to the mortal realm, where he would live without his divine privileges.
With Heidiâs punishment decided, Aki returned to her village. Her reunion with her sister was filled with joy and relief, and the villagers celebrated their heroâs return. Despite the happiness, Akiâs heart was heavy, reflecting on the trials and battles endured.
After ensuring her sister's safety, Aki felt a deeper calling beyond her warrior past. Seeking a new purpose, she approached Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, to become her disciple. Guanyin recognized Aki's potential and welcomed her into a path of compassion, healing, and spiritual enlightenment.
Aki's training under Guanyin was rigorous but transformative. Her dedication led her to become renowned not just for her combat skills but for her profound wisdom and empathy. She earned the title of Guanyin's best disciple, symbolizing her growth and commitment to her new path.
Guanyin then tasked Aki with joining a sacred pilgrimage to the West, a journey meant to retrieve sacred scriptures and test the pilgrims' spirits. Aki accepted with anticipation, joining a diverse group that included Tripitaka, Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing, and Sun Wukong.
Throughout the pilgrimage, Aki's skills and calming presence earned her the respect and friendship of her fellow travelers. Her bond with Sun Wukong, in particular, deepened as they faced challenges and shared profound experiences. Their connection grew beyond friendship, marked by mutual respect and admiration. As they rested by a river one evening, Sun Wukong's contemplative demeanor hinted at the evolving nature of their relationship.

How to Stay Motivated and Productive: Crushing Your Goals Without Burning Out
Staying motivated and productive can feel like a constant battle, especially when life throws distractions, stress, and endless to-do lists your way. But fear not! With the right mindset and strategies, you can keep your motivation high and your productivity on point, without burning out. Letâs dive into some tips to help you crush your goals and stay energized along the way.
1. Start with Your "Why"
Before you even think about getting stuff done, take a moment to connect with your âwhy.â Why do you want to achieve these goals? Whether itâs personal growth, career advancement, or simply getting through your day with your sanity intact, having a clear purpose fuels motivation. When the going gets tough, reminding yourself of the bigger picture can keep you pushing forward.
2. Set Clear, Realistic Goals
Productivity isnât just about doing more; itâs about doing what matters. Break your goals down into specific, achievable tasks. Instead of vague goals like âget fitâ or âstudy more,â try âexercise for 30 minutes three times a weekâ or âstudy for 45 minutes, then take a 15-minute break.â Clear goals give you a roadmap and make it easier to track your progress.
3. Create a Routine That Works for You
Routines are your best friend when it comes to staying productive. They help build momentum and reduce the mental energy spent on deciding what to do next. But remember, thereâs no one-size-fits-all routineâwhat works for someone else might not work for you. Experiment with different schedules until you find one that aligns with your natural rhythms and lifestyle.
4. Embrace the Power of Small Wins
Thereâs nothing like the rush of ticking something off your to-do list. Those small wins build momentum and keep you motivated to tackle bigger tasks. Break larger projects into smaller, manageable steps, and celebrate each achievement along the way. Itâs like giving yourself a mini high-five every time you complete something, and who doesnât love that?
5. Use the Pomodoro Technique
If you struggle with staying focused, the Pomodoro Technique is a game-changer. Work for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. After four sessions, take a longer break (15-30 minutes). This method not only helps maintain focus but also prevents burnout by ensuring youâre taking regular breaks. Itâs a win-win for both your productivity and your well-being.
6. Declutter Your Space, Declutter Your Mind
A cluttered workspace can lead to a cluttered mind. Take a few minutes each day to tidy up your environment. A clean, organized space can help you feel more in control and focused on the task at hand. Plus, itâs one less thing to stress about when youâre trying to get in the zone.
7. Prioritize Self-Care
Productivity isnât just about grinding 24/7. To stay motivated, you need to take care of yourself. Make sure youâre getting enough sleep, eating well, and staying active. Incorporate activities that relax and recharge youâwhether itâs reading, meditating, or just chilling out with a good Netflix show. Remember, you canât pour from an empty cup.
8. Mix It Up
Monotony can kill motivation. If you find yourself getting bored or stuck in a rut, mix things up. Try changing your environmentâwork from a different room or a coffee shop. Switch up your routine or try new productivity tools and techniques. Keeping things fresh can reignite your enthusiasm and keep you engaged.
9. Stay Accountable
Share your goals with a friend, family member, or even online communities. Having someone to check in with can keep you accountable and motivated. Plus, itâs a great way to get support and encouragement when you need it most. Sometimes, just knowing someone else is rooting for you is enough to keep you going.
10. Forgive Yourself for Off Days
Letâs be realânot every day is going to be a productivity powerhouse. Some days, the motivation just isnât there, and thatâs okay. The key is not to beat yourself up over it. Instead, acknowledge it, rest, and come back stronger the next day. Progress isnât about being perfect; itâs about being consistent over time.
11. Visualize Your Success
Take a few minutes each day to visualize what success looks like for you. Imagine how it will feel to achieve your goals, and let that positive energy drive you forward. Visualization is a powerful tool that can help keep your motivation alive, even when the journey feels long.
12. Reward Yourself
Donât forget to reward yourself for your hard work. Whether itâs treating yourself to something special, taking a day off, or just indulging in your favorite activity, rewards help reinforce the positive behavior of staying productive. It gives you something to look forward to and makes the grind feel a little less grindy.
13. Keep Learning and Growing
Finally, keep feeding your mind with new ideas and inspiration. Read books, listen to podcasts, watch TED Talksâwhatever gets your creative juices flowing. Continuous learning keeps you motivated by reminding you that thereâs always more to discover and achieve.
Final Thoughts
Staying motivated and productive isnât about working harderâitâs about working smarter. By setting clear goals, creating a routine that works for you, and prioritizing self-care, you can stay on top of your game without burning out. Remember, itâs a marathon, not a sprint, so pace yourself, celebrate your progress, and keep moving forward. Youâve got this!
Love,
Sophia

Hello Miss Jade,
I hope you don't mind me asking something a bit personal. I've been really curious about Shibari; not just the technique, but what it feels like for someone who practices it, especially from your side as a domme
I tried it on myself recently( just a few simple knots on my own, nothing advanced) but I was surprised by how comforting it felt. There was something about the pressure and structure of the rope that made me feel oddly held, like I could breathe a little easier. It actually calmed me down in a way I didn't expect
So I guess I wanted to ask: what does Shibari do for you as the one binding someone? Emotionally, mentally... however you experience it. I imagine there's more to it than just restraining someone as Shibari is somewhat ⨠art â¨
No pressure to answer if itâs too personal, but Iâd really love to understand more about it :3 also I hope you are doing fine :3 - đ§đťââď¸
Hi, darling.
What a lovely message to read. I'm so happy that you're exploring shibari, and the way you describe what youâre feeling while tying the knots is incredibly heartfelt. Youâre not just learning technique, you're getting a feel of that form of submission, and I adore that.
Now, when it comes to Shibari, how I feel can shift depending on the purpose of the session.
So, in non-sexual rope scenes for example, I find myself slipping into a deeply focused, calm headspace. It becomes almost meditative. The act of binding, the feeling of rope gliding across my submissiveâs skin, and the soft rhythm of my breath, all of it slows me down. There's something so relaxing about it. My hands move slowly, exploring and enjoying the contours of their body, admiring the way the rope hugs them in all the right places. I often find myself whispering affirmations, or exchanging soft kisses between knots. Thereâs a quiet pride in watching someone you cherish surrender so fully to the process, their mind slowly melting into subspace as mine deepens into Domspace. Itâs like art, connection, and devotion all wrapped into one.
Now when the rope scene leans into the sexual side, my energy shifts and I become more focused, and a bit hungrier. I still start gently because tying always demands respect and awareness, but my movements become more assertive, more teasing. I use the rope not only to bind but to provoke. Maybe I let my fingers wander between knots, or let my nails trail along exposed skin. Maybe I tug their hair gently to tilt their head back as I whisper in their ear what I plan to do to them once they're fully secured. Itâs in these moments I slip deeper into Domspace, where the rope becomes an extension of my desire. Itâs not only about restraint, itâs about anticipation, about denying or rewarding, and about drawing pleasure out through power and patience. I still take immense pride in my submissiveâs beauty, in the trust they give me, but itâs colored now with arousal and desire. The rope isn't just a tool of care and comfort, it's a way to make our dynamic more intense.
But in the end, no matter the setting, rope is never just rope to me. It's a conversation between skin and fiber, dominance and surrender, safety and vulnerability. And knowing that you're beginning to explore this language for yourself⌠well, that makes me very proud of you.
xo Miss Jade

Shadows in the Cave â Notes on an Incursion â The Dream Eaters
Oneirophages are a form of hypergeometric parasite and predator of opportunity â though controversy remains as to whether they should instead be viewed as a potential Successor species. While not an initial part of Project Orpheus, they have proven to be a major obstacle to our progress. The Director has, on behalf of the Steering Committee, determined that they represent valuable objects of study in their own right. As such, the following report has been compiled for review by the team being spun off for this new project.
To attain the desired state of consciousness, Orpheus subjects underwent intensive experimental therapies involving pharmaceutical cocktails, induced insomnia, advanced meditation techniques and extreme sensory deprivation. Encountering the oneirophage was initially considered a sign of early success, and the second test group underwent the same procedure as the subjects who had made contact.
This proved to be a mistake. The eventual loss of all three of the first test groups â as well as significant numbers of research and support staff â combined with the cost of sanitizing the lab sites have set Orpheus back by at minimum several years. A slight silver lining is that oneirophages are now very probably the best-studied and most well-understood hypergeomtric species yet encountered.
The Orpheus teamâs first error was their most fundamental, though this was impossible to know at the time; the sudden spike in brain waves and vital signs was not the result of a test subject encountering an oneirophage, but of them being devoured by one.
--------------------------
THREAT ARDENT HONEYBEE is an INTRUDER that PATRIOT agents have engaged and dispatched at least four different times across the latter twentieth century. Itâs probably been hovering around Wall Street while at least a few different fortunes were minted, too. We suspect but cannot confirm that itâs the ultimate source of myths and folktales about selling your soul to the devil for worldly fortune. At minimum, K-CELL terminated at least one satanist cult centred around a summoning ritual to do exactly that in 20XX, and is as of writing still tracing itâs source (c.f. OPERATION MIRRORED CABARET).
ARDENT HONEYBEE isnât really a hunter. You have to go looking to find it, and have to invite it in for it to sink its teeth into the world â and even then, the INTRUSION remains anchored to whatever cultist contacted it. There are a lot of cases where you end up having to deal with dumb assholes and tragically unlucky victims on your way to cleaning out an INTRUSION â sleep easy knowing that whatever you have to do to deal with an anchor at the heart of it, they deserve it a dozen times over.
If you believe you are dealing with ARDENT HONEYBEE, remember:
The anchor will be unnaturally healthy, fit, diligent and intelligent. Depending on the state of the INTRUSION, possibly past any sane human limits.
They will also be ambitious, driven, and probably well on their way to being famous. Be smart and be discrete â theyâre not people who can just disappear without questions.
Everyone else around them will be lethargic, depressed idiots. The effect doesnât discriminate between friends and enemies, just who falls asleep near the anchor.
ARDENT HONEYBEE doesnât seem to mention this to its anchors.
Thereâs only one way to banish it.
Nothing here is bulletproof.
--------------------------
It is the vanity of our naive and sheltered species to believe our souls are bonfires in the gloom, beacons of spiritual power which higher and lower things might strive to claim by conquest, commerce or trickery. Vanity, and an often dangerous species of hubris at that; our souls are as flickering and failable as our flesh, and as of little interest to the true powers and potentates of the universe.
But just as we are not so far from the highest heavens that we cannot gaze up in awe, we may at least look down at the teaming earth beneath us. And just as much of the true danger to our flesh comes not from great beasts but mosquitoes and bacteria, so too does the threat of contact with higher frequencies of existence to our psyches come not from their masters but their pests.
I would personally chose to name it Duval Psychosis, after the first known sufferer. The materials youâve so helpfully provided from your friends show what could be a number of historical cases of the same thing, but frankly youâll have to hold me at gunpoint before I call something âThe Curse of Unbounded Passionsâ with a straight face. As a compromise, I might suggest Lodestar Syndrome. Whatever you might want to call it, the disease is best understood as a kind of rabies of the soul. An infection most dangerous to those who astrally project or attain certain advanced levels of psychic regression and pattern resonance, as they are the only individuals who might conceivably be exposed to the psychic vermin that transmit it.
The first symptoms are difficult to detect, not because they are subtle but because no one is going to consider them bad. Sudden increases in discipline, diligence, and overall productivity. The magical appearance of ambition and drive, and the impression of having sat down and considered what they wanted to achieve with their life. Even mysterious improvements in health, diet and physical activity. I donât mind admitting that on the unfortunate occasions Iâve had to teach an undergraduate lecture, Iâve found myself wishing for a mass outbreak.
By the time the true consequences â the monomania, the psychopathic disregard for their relationships, the steadily degrading empathy for and patience with what they will inevitably consider âtheir lessersâ â they are already beyond helping.
--------------------------
Oneirophages are not, to put it lightly, a social species. Lacking self-awareness or motivations of their own, they latch onto the most prominent and legible drives possessed by their victim in the moment of consumption. They are, even under the most thorough examination and interrogation, convinced they are the host, and utterly dedicated to fulfilling what they consider âtheirâ lifeâs work.
Given the extreme circumstances necessary to attract an oneirophage, it seems unlikely that they evolved to cooperate once they have secured a host. In our unfortunate natural experiment, each quickly became convinced the others were enemies and rivals or, at best, dangerous tools to be manipulated and controlled. Their opinions of living humans were even more instrumental and contemptuous, though in fairness all the baselines within the immediate area were so thoroughly debilitated by long-term exposure that from an instrumental perspective there was little to use them for.
Sanitizing the site was made simpler by the majority of oneirophages having been terminated by their peers at the time the operation commenced. The survivors exhibited physical capabilities and tactical reflexes significantly beyond baseline human limits, but unlike certain other hypergeometric infections, did succumb to the tactical application of overwhelming firepower to create âno-winâ scenarios â no special tactics necessary.
--------------------------
ARDENT HONEYBEE is easy enough to detect, provided youâre looking out for it. Which we should be, but frankly negligence has led to more of the bastards getting a chance to run unchecked that it ever should have.
The deal is offers is nice and simple. You get the self-discipline, motivation, health and skill you need to achieve whatever dream was worth selling your soul for. In exchange, whenever anyone falls asleep near you, HONEYBEE starts helping itself to some of theirs instead.
The first warning we get of ARDENT HONEYBEE being active is sudden spikes in suicides and accidental deaths, confined to a specific apartment block or suburb. People drained until theyâre barely living, either not able to motivate themselves to take any care or else not able to see the point in doing so. Every one of those deaths is one more payment the anchor makes in exchange for their worldly fortune and realized dreams.
--------------------------
As a disease of the more fundamental frequencies of reality, Lodestar Syndrome propagates through ties of sympathy and symbolic connection more than physical proximity or interaction. The true extent of a given suffererâs damage to those around them can thus be hard to truly ascertain. It is also, despite what your friends might hope, quite universally net-negative in outcome. We are not a species of heroes, much as we might dream otherwise. Bleeding ones peers of spiritual potency to become one will only ever be a juvenile and quixotic prospect.
I write this all in retrospect, of course. It only took a few unfortunate mishaps before I determined how to fortify my patients against such infections as their regression therapy approaches the Sublime. Still, I can assure you that what enhanced awareness they had was directed entirely towards their preexisting mundane aims. None showed an iota of new interest in Higher Mysteries, and while they took evidence of the paranormal in stride, they thought of it only as a threat or tool to exploit. A short-cut to enlightenment this is not; what sublime powers sufferers of Lodestar might seem to possess (e.g., absurd and preternatural levels of good luck attending them in all their affairs) is simply the natural result of their overflowing with parasitized spiritual energy.
The potential practical applications are thus wholly mundane and, frankly, rather unseemly to even consider. I have a professional obligation to my patients; if the success rate is less than ideal, it is not for lack of trying. If your friends have any hypothetical ideas about hand-picked culture-shapers and sin-eaters managed from a careful distance, I would ask not to be included in the conversation, and that it stay well away from my students.
--------------------------
The only entirely reliable way to verify if someone is a oneirophage host (or victim) is through thorough MRI or surgical examination (most often carried out postmortem). The fungus growing in the brain stem, down the spinal cord and eventually throughout the nervous system is quite distinctive. In the most advanced cases, the oneirophage consumes it entirely and begins directly interfacing with the hostâs muscles.
Itâs still unclear quite how the organism reproduces â feeding victims bodiesâ have specific feeding organs or roots growing through them, but it is only the original host whose parasite begins to flower. Given the lack of social activity or cooperation it seems likely that the species follows a heavily r-selected reproductive strategy, perhaps a mass budding or seed dispersal event if one is allowed to feed and grow intensely enough.
I fully support the new team in further study of this species, but it is my strong recommendation that no specimen be allowed to develop to that theorized level of maturity. While primary hosts do seem to authentically share human motivations, it seems unlikely that this will continue past the point of reproductive maturity â and in any event, with current estimates there will be few or any human hosts for the second generation to imprint on. I would urge the Director to reconsider them as a potential Successor species.
These are not heirs, they are cuckoos.

Interns & Teachers hcs best to worst
Morris obvs we know doesn't wanna trade his mentorship with Milla so they must get along well, or at least he thinks so! I think he really respects and admires her, and wants to impress her. Milla on her part is textually a very good teacher and caregiver so she probably has given Morris a lot to work with to grow and improve. Maybe Morris was even more of a rascal and trouble maker before we met him and Milla taught him to at least put that energy toward something productive. Like Pirate Radio!
I don't USUALLY like going to extra material for things I think are true but the art book says Adam is senior to the other interns which I think implies he actually has spent plenty of time with Truman, rather than the impression the game gives of "none at all hes in a coma, lol".
That being said I imagine their mentorship is on a very professional feeling level. they get along and maybe Truman even tries to be friendly and casual with the boy, but Adam is super focused on being a good student and working on his big historical project. After the mole incicent though maybe he loosens up! He nearly lost the chance to talk to his mentor ever again after all.
Gisu and Otto are super duper casual in contrast to Adam and Truman. Gisu skateboards into his lab, yells WHATS UP TEACH! Otto says something abt his latest project before throwing a wrench at Gisu who catches it mid sick skate flip because Otto just expects her to help with said project in exchange to credits + not having to do homework for a week. They barely talk outside of this bc the agreement is not spoken and just based on vibes and knowing winks.
After the games I think Lizzie swings back to Compton's and he gives her a stern look and a raised eyebrow like you didn't do my assignment? and Lizzies like dude I tried man. and she thinks shes gonna get a lecture but instead Compton's like I'm sorry about that, let's start over, and then they play chess and he wins 3 times in a row. He learns Lizzie likes "weird" and "ugly" animals like bugs and rats and he makes some new assignment about just observing them in the wild, maybe try to talk to them if she can! and reporting back to him. Lizzie still thinks thisis a bit lame but at least she doesnt have to set up a Goat Trap so its an improvement
Sam learns what Coach did at camp and she doesn't do anything actively malicious but she does give him horrible stink eye for like a week. afterwards they go back to getting along surprisingly well aside from all the times Sam says some shit that sounds oddly like a threat but it goes over Oleander's head like half the time.
If Adam and Truman are a good professional vibe, Norma and Hollis are a bit of a stinky professional vibe. Hollis obviously thinks shes a capable young girl, she did let her teach class while she was off meditating about bills. But Norma wants so much more than that and tries so so so hard to impress her even though she ALSO thinks her homework assignment is boring and childish. She goes to Hollis' office like I want a different assignment, with the unspoken want "do not treat her like a child". and Hollis is like oh ok do you want to learn some advanced techniques that come from reading this big dry book of theory as big as your head. and Norma is like well, no. and Hollis is like ok then do your assignment very neutrally and Norma leaves thinking SHE HATES ME!!! bc I think Norma probably has. bad responses to rejection.
Hopefully Norma improves over time though bc I think! I think Hollis could possibly see a lot of potential in her!! She might even see a girl who's impatient, prone to rash decisions, and wants to prove herself so badly, and see herself in her. which is something that's only just occured to me but i enjoy the idea a lot so thats where I'll end this.
#hcs#cospn2#raz's mentor post-game is 'everyone' i think#officially though hollis has to assign him someone#even if hes a 'junior psychonaut' now lol#just make it sasha maam. make the boy happy

ZZBA: The Ideal Mind
An Essay by James Jovius, Melody Armstrong, Kettil Toritoia, et al. Grand Academy of Aurum: Kinetics Department
Introduction.
In this paper, we shall outline a theoretical method by which it is possible to accidentally (or, goodness forbid, purposefully) teach a mind-controlled subject to engage in hypnomancy themselves. Further, we shall explain how such an occurrence might descend into an uncontrolled hypnomantic gestalt consciousness, which we shall call the Ideal Mind. Lastly, we shall explore what the results of such a calamitous event might entail. Obviously, we have not put our theory into practice, and through this paper we hope to set out a cautionary tale to prevent future researchers from attempting to do something similar.
Hypnomancy
Hypnomancy is, first and foremost, a very precise form of telekinesis. Through fine-tuning our extra-sensory muscles, we are able to sense even the finest neurochemical adjustments in the subjectâs brain matter. Of course, simply sensing these changes is not enough; doing so is not unlike trying to read a book in a foreign language. We must first attempt to understand the logical operators, the neural language that the brain uses to communicate with itself. We can do this by focusing on the electrochemical movements within our own brain.
Through a rigorous programme of meditation, mindfulness and focused mental clarity, we are able to âtranslateâ the neural events we detect into the empirical senses we experience. Fortunately, brains are, by and large, similar enough that such internal logic translates to othersâ brains as well. Once weâve established a library of neural logical operators within ourselves, we are trivially capable to detect those same logical operators within others.
Now that we are able to understand the internal logic of anotherâs mental faculties, we will also be able to change them. Telekinesis is a fairly trivial form of magic, but using it on a small enough scale to adjust the internals of the brain is another matter entirely. It doesnât take much to lobotomise a subject. Hence, hypnomancy is strictly illegal outside Academy grounds, and even in the Academy only highly advanced Adepts are allowed to practice it.
Of course, Such a magic is a recipe for terrifying abuse, which is why students of hypnomancy are closely monitored, and careers using the discipline are strictly limited to hypnomantic mental health therapy and the detection of the illicit use of hypnomancy.
Inception
Now that we have outlined the fundamentals of hypnomancy, we can explore one of the implications of its power within the subjectâs mind. Usually, hypnomancy requires maximum concentration from the caster, and absolute ignorance from the subject. Any notice given to the subject will automatically and involuntarily prime the brain against tampering, and render any attempted hypnomancy futile.
However, by using certain psychoactive suppressants on the subject, such as the extract of Lichinomycetes Somnaminta (colloquially known as âHypnoâ), these hurdles quickly disappear, making hypnomantic commands last beyond the active telekinesis by the caster. Using this âbrain lagâ, the hypnomancer can temporarily restructure the subjectâs brain to artificially âunderstandâ how to engage in hypnomancy themselves. These effects donât last beyond the activity of substances such as Hypno, or this technique would be an astounding, though risky method of pedagogy, not just for hypnomancy but for any knowledge at all, as weâd effectively be able to place our own expertise on any discipline within the minds of our subject.
The true danger we wish to explain in this paper is the following; What happens when both the hypnomancer and the subject are under the effects of Hypno? What happens when a hypnotically instructed subject is able to practice its newfound skills on their own hypnomancer? Through careful theory and painstakingly mapping out all the possible results of such an event, we have concluded that both the original hypnomancer and their subject would slowly fall into a mindless stupor, as there is effectively no âmind of its ownâ instructing the hypnotised pair.
This incident would last until the effects of the Hypno wear off, after which both subjects would âwake upâ as if nothing happened, though almost certainly with a nasty migraine. This would be where we wish we could leave this paper, but a troublesome hypothetical emerges from this thought experiment.
Chain hypnosis
This theoretical incident would not need to be limited to reckless duos experimenting with Hypno and hypnomancy. In theory, it should be possible to chain a string of hypnotised subjects together, hypothetically of infinite length. This too should end in a painful, though harmless headache for everyone involved. However, through careful instruction by the initial hypnomancer, to not just include the method of hypnomancy, but by also providing specific logical operations, the subjects down the chain will be able to distend their mental capacities, leaving a segment of their own minds âempty,â which can subsequently be filled in by further instructions from the initial hypnomancer to form part of a genuinely novel mind, connected through hypnomancy to other parts of a novel mind, to eventually form a complete, stable mental entity where none existed before. This novel, non-corporeal mind is what we call an Ideal Mind.
The Ideal Mind
To be such an incorporeal Ideal Mind would be a profoundly horrifying experience. A fresh mind with no frame of reference for existence at all, with no physical form and therefore no senses with which to understand its own existence and surroundings would result in immediate panic and paralysing fear. In its terror, the infant Ideal Mind would lash out into the minds of its âcreators,â taking over their thoughts and wreaking havoc in their psyches. As a being birthed from hypnomancy, it would effortlessly be able to inflict the same magic upon the minds it inhabits, leaving them vulnerable to being mind-controlled even after the effects of the Hypno subside. Further, through its inherent skills at hypnomancy, as well as the many minds it has at its disposal by the time of its inception, the Ideal Mind will be able to perform hypnomancy on any random passers-by, subsuming the unfortunate victim into its own torturous existence.
Conclusion
As far as we can tell, there is no way to rein in such an Ideal Mind, no way to control it without damaging significant parts of its psyche (in practice, by ending the lives of its unfortunate participants). We therefore must caution the reader in the strongest terms, Do Not Attempt to create an Ideal Mind. There is nothing to learn. There is nothing to gain. This paper is purely intended to serve as a cautionary tale, a warning to the extreme dangers of careless usage of a dangerous and often lethal form of magic.
