I always thought that the Vs could have been so much better as antagonists, but I really liked Vox's design, if only because I am very normal about screenface characters.

How do you think you would change his design? Would you keep the object head? Maybe an analog screen like RGB from TPOH?

[Thinking about how secretly heartbroken Alastor must have been when Vox changed from analog TV and literal radio waves to digital in the 90ies or 2000s.]

So I've been thinking a bit about the video camera that Alastor has, but before I talk about that, I want to first figure out what kind of camera the non video camera is

Obviously it's a vintage camera, an analog one from his time. And oh, apparently it might be a Kodak Compur Model Six-20 Folding Camera

That was much easier and quicker to figure out than I had anticipated, but it appears to be a match

It seems like it's a portable camera too so that's pretty interesting! I wonder if Alastor does any photography or is he just a fan of technology in general? His camera is even modified to have a deer motif, but it also doesn't seem to have any wear or tears so I'm not sure if he has really used it much or if he just keeps it like a collection. He does have a bunch of scenic pictures in his bedroom that he could have potentially taken himself, but that might be a bit of a stretch for right now. I don't think we have enough information to determine Alastor's photography skills and interests. Oh, but now I'm just imagining my husband the photographer just whipping this bad boy from his suit pocket to take pictures of whatever ❤️

But anyway! What I really wanted to talk about!

This fuck ass camera. There's quite a bit going on here what with they eyeball for lens and the tape and bandaid holding this thing together. What is even going on here?

Let's figure out the model first though

Okay, this was much more difficult to find than the camera, but the closest I can find is a Sony Handycam Mini-DV Camcorder

It kind of has a similar shape to the one Alastor has, what with the rounded top portion. I'm not a tech expert so I'm gonna just say close enough

I also couldn't figure out an exact year this model was made..? I dunno, but I'm going to say somewhere between 1995-2005. I wanted a more exact date, but oh well. I'm too tired to look for more info

So anyway! Alastor owns a folding camera from his time period and a more modern handycam camcorder. A far more beat up and used camcorder compared to the folding camera

But real quick, let's first talk about the eye and eyelashes on Alastor's camera. It's pretty weird and creepy. I wasn't sure if this was just an Alastor thing or a Hell thing so I tried checking a few other cameras that appear

And it seems like the eyeball is fairly normal, but the eyelashes are not. As much as I want to say that he just glued those eyelashes on himself, I'm a little skeptical of that since we don't see any glue residue or anything like that on the camera. Though I don't think we see any glue residue on Valentino's gun either, we do see him bedazzling it. But I suspect that maybe Alastor's camcorder is an older model hence the eyelashes. Maybe the newer models don't have it. Or maybe he just prefers the one with eyelashes. Not sure

But also

This camera is pretty beat up. Why is it so beat up? Why did he use a band aid? Did he run out of tape? Is it possible that he, I dunno, maybe threw the camera in a fit of rage or something and then felt bad afterwards hence the band aid? Maybe the band aid is just for decor? It could also be possible that while filming his commercial, he was just really really careless with it, resulting in the camera needing to be tape together? Lots of possibilities honestly

So this next part is just going to be a lot of speculations and assumptions, especially since I couldn't figure out an exact model year for Alastor's camcorder, but let's just say it's from.. I dunno, 2005, why not? I don't know enough about how well the technology from the 90's were compared to the the early 2000's so. And let's also say that Hazbin Hotel takes place during 2020 since I believe that's when the pilot came out. Also these make easier numbers to work with

Now, let's figure out a few more time lines. So if the show takes place during 2020, then that would mean that Alastor was missing during 2013-2020 or so. Velvette supposedly died around the 2010's? And Valentino died in the 70's and Vox in the 50's

The reason I'm bringing up the Vee's is that I wonder if Alastor and Vox were still on good terms when Alastor got the camcorder. It's a possibility. Do we know when exactly Vox and Val became acquainted and what not? Just because Val died in the 70's doesn't mean he met Vox right away. And Val and Alastor are acquainted to some degree. Or at least I'm assuming from the way Valentino said that Alastor owed them more than money, as in both Vox and Val I'm assuming

Though if this is the case then that would mean that Alastor and Vox had their falling out somewhere around 2005-2012 which is fairly recent. I was initially under the impression that they had their falling out for longer, but if it was recent, it would help explain why they're both so... well, like that I suppose? The hurt is still fresh hence why they're both still so agitated with each other

But these are just a bunch of speculations. I don't have any concrete information to say any of this for certain

I mostly just wanted to talk about his cameras honestly. It's so cute how his folding camera has a deer motif! I do wonder if he got it custom made.. Though also his camcorder doesn't appear to have any deer motifs? Is it because it's a newer technology? Maybe it's because he doesn't actually care for the camcorder? Or maybe the folding camera is just a decor piece so it gets to look pretty? Though actually, could it be possible that he doesn't use the folding camera because it's such an old piece of technology? It could be possible that because it's so old, it's more difficult to fix it up and stuff? Since no one really makes that model anymore?

OK, OK, I'll stop rambling now

Oh wait! I completely forgot to take into account Vox's head! Apparently flat screen TVs were made in 2005 so maybe Vox upgraded somewhere between 2005-2010? Oh, but I've talked enough. These are all just speculations
