I think I've finally figured out my biggest grievance with 911

I know there's a huge amount of suspending disbelief necessary to watching this show but the ongoing tendency to focus episodes on one or two characters singular arcs essentially freezes what the other characters are going through in a way that is honestly infuriating at times

eddie's relationship with chris and the aftermath of the kim debacle was basically sidelined for half a season as if he wouldn't be desperately trying everything he could to reach out to his son and I'm sorry but the small glimpses we got (a few facetime calls, the priest, shaving the mustache, the talk with brad) were not enough to convincingly overcome what happened in s7 when s5 showed eddie's healing arc in a far better way

them completely dropping the hook-up and the morning after between buck and tommy after buck explicitly said that he wanted to call tommy only to (presumably) pick it up again in 8x14/8x15 as if weeks/months haven't passed in the meantime is so unrealistic, as if buck isn't the kind of person who wants to make things right immediately and as if he wouldn't be tearing himself into pieces every day

brushing off denny's NDE in 8x05 and refusing to show the wilson family healing after something that truly traumatic is frustrating, especially since they sacrificed a good chunk of screen time for the main characters and their families on the altar of fucking brad

chimney has mostly been a sidelined character all season when I suspect the man has fair bit of trauma from idk seeing his pregnant wife bleeding out from a neck wound in his arms

there's a way to do an ensemble show that leans focus towards certain characters in certain episodes without sidelining the rest and I just think that 911 used to do far better in that regard

Everyone's mad at everyone! Heather, Cherry, and Kirsten are mad at Matt! Kirsten's mad at Cherry! Luca's mad at Fisk! Daniel's mad at BB!

Matt, STOP using sex as a distraction, please, I beg of you. It's sexy but it's unhealthy. Also: holy crap, he flat out said it to Heather!! His life feels fake. He quickly followed it with an "uhh not u tho sweetie, ilu <3" but like, wee all know that's not true. Goodness.

Everything out of Fisk's mouth makes me laugh. He's so absurd. "Blue collar millionaires", gtfo of here. And his little rant about "Daredevil beat up my friends 😡😢", like he didn't murder many MANY people over those first 10 years of business.

Detective Kim remains the MVP of the current police roster. She got that Muse ID so damn fast and she didn't need to be part of Fisk's task force to do it. ("Thin dark line protecting the city" BARF)

Meanwhile Matt is just rubbing his DNA all over active crime scenes. Just how much of his blood is in that lair, do you think?

Once again, to my ultimate dismay, Kirsten gets little to no screentime. Ugh. She does seem pretty close to fed up and firing Matt from the firm, though, which would honestly be deserved.

What game are Vanessa and Wilson playing? Was she playing Luca in that final scene? I really can't tell and it's making me nervous. The show is holding those cards very close to the chest.

Finally, is that the end of Muse? Feels... too fast.

Bonus laugh: Daredevil crashing through the window! I was literally thinking of making a post about all the windows getting smashed in the comics, but didn't want to commit the time to find the panels. Trust me, it's a lot! So I laughed extra hard.

i love how the writers of this show only know like. 3 names. the baby is almost named amber. instead she is named max. max is also the name of the liver donating girlfriend in sleeping dogs lie. this show also has about six roberts, two chis, 5 rachels…

honestly love this episode. i wish the series had more "everyone pulling a 3 day shift, the only thing that matters is solving the Mystery" episodes, they're so good

i just looked up who wrote this episode to see if it was the same writer who wrote sleeping dogs lie re: the max thing. it isn't. instead it's peter blake, aka the chase whisperer: he also wrote the mistake, cursed, the itch, the tyrant, lockdown, and chase. (a couple shared credits but. damn. apparently this dude just wrote all the greatest hits for our useless nepobaby and his divorce. coincidentally, chase is great in this episode too. god now i want to do a tangent because the same writer wrote cursed/the mistake/lockdown/chase makes perfect fucking sense to me, because in each - when i say chase gets angry and resentful and shuts down when he's upset. when i say it's consistent. him lashing out at rowan isn't that different from him accusing cameron of never loving him, of accusing house of changing him. there's a throughline of these episodes: chase vulnerable, chase angry and upset, chase refusing to open up no matter who begs. and throw in the tyrant, his bonding with dibala and the way the murder is framed as chase lashing out in betrayal rather than moral imperative - man!!! ANYWAY)

i've always loved wilson's little "i can get you a key to the oncology lounge… we're getting TiVo" line. because when i was a kid, my dad got tivo. and when i say he bragged about it. when i say he would bring visitors into our house and show them the tivo and demonstrate the wonders of dvr in those olden days (of the early 2000s) (even if i was watching cartoons). so you know what wilson. i appreciate the flex. it is cool you're getting tivo.

in the script, it notes that chase is taking a nap while foreman studies and cameron reads houses mail. in the episode, chase is still taking his nap, but the other two are just standing around. i mention this just because it's interesting to see what character details are written and which are acting choices. to me.

the script also notes that the gays who lose their son are "comp lit grad students." not sure why we need to know this but i'm glad we do

foreman stepping up and lecturing cameron on bedside manner is. very funny. not that she doesn't need the lecturing in this episode (it's a Theme), but… considering how as time goes by, one of foreman's defining traits is terrible bedside manner… it's very main character of him lol. he truly is the best of the group in these early episodes. no weaknesses, only strengths.

cameron's "it's easier to die than to watch someone die" is so fascinating. it's so loaded with implication. what was her husband like? how much emotional labor was she doing for him? was he in denial of his prognosis until the end, meaning that cameron was stuck both taking care of him and pretending everything was okay? or is cameron, unwittingly, exposing her own selfishness here: does she actually kind of believe her pain is worse because she has to live with it?

that said i do like how even in this scene: cameron freezes up and is awkward at telling the patients bad news, but she's quick to (and good at) reassuring them a moment later. "kim is right," she says, using the patient's name. she's good at bonding with patients and comfort, just not when it's bad news. which, unfortunately, in her job…

i find the differential portions of this episode really interesting because it sets up as foreman has an idea, cameron has an idea, they argue their ideas, they want different treatments, house referees. they each get "assigned" a family and baby. neither are treated as more wrong or more right (although i guess cameron technically is — "her" baby is the one that dies because her treatment is wrong, but medically she did nothing wrong, it's more a larger theme about cameron struggling this episode). and meanwhile chase exists. this has been the case every episode so far lmao: foreman is the main ideas and treatment guy, cameron sometimes chimes in to back him up, chase offers no useful input or contributions. the difference is, this episode chase actually very much pulls his weight with the treatment and his work in NICU; he really is the Procedure Guy, not the Ideas Guy. which makes him a really interesting hire on house's part tbh - chase is almost useless in differentials (so far), he was hired just for his practical skills.

again, it is so weird to see foreman, champion of talking to patients. i mean, i do buy he knows how and is perfectly script accurate. but it was dropped as a trait so quickly

speaking of early installment weirdness: wilson calling cameron allison will never not be weird.

and likewise cameron's angry insistence that the women would rather have hope than truth is. very telling. like yes, we know she deals terribly with loss, but this is… what was her husband like? when did she find out he had cancer? does she wish she had been able to be ignorant longer? it's very clear – to the viewers and everyone in universe – that cameron is seeing this all through her perspective, that she's talking about herself at all times, but… (also imagine this perspective mixed with s6 and dibala. you think part of the reason chase didn't tell her for so long was because he really did think she'd prefer to be ignorant? how wrong or right was he in that?)

in the script, when the baby dies and chase is trying to revive it, there's a note that house puts his hand on chase's arm to get him to stop. not in the episode :( but i like their little interaction here: it's not much, but chase is clearly upset and house lets him go, doesn't scold him. house can in fact be pretty understanding about this stuff! he doesn't like wallowing but he has moments of being a good boss. and then he turns around and has zero sympathy for cameron lol.

cameron trying to foist the "inform the parents" thing on chase is very. hahaha. i always think of chase in forever trying to foist baby duties on her. it's not a great moment for cameron (it's not meant to be), but it… hm. i wouldn't say it's out of character; she never really gets better at dealing directly with death, but trying to weasel out of telling the parents by saying chase (or whoever) should do it seems… off, you know? her freezing up and wilson stepping in feels more on brand. but she's not supposed to be right this episode. she's lowkey supposed to suck.

(and from house's perspective: chase is sad about the dead baby. so is cameron. chase is still doing his job, he can be sad, it's not getting in the way. cameron is sad, and actively avoiding her job/trying to get others to do it for her. that is getting in the way.)

fascinating, too, that cameron is therefore stated in this episode to be bad at talking to patients (compared to foreman being good, and chase being a little awkward but fine).

"chase, you're the intensivist" -- love when the show tells us people's specialties. no one has called cameron an immunologist yet, but we have the guys now. and flash forward a few years, i don't think we technically ever learn thirteen or kutner's specialties (on screen).

in the lab end of the episode, cameron and chase are sitting way too close together. it is very funny how often this happens. i know it's because the actors were dating were not paying attention to body language but still. this is why everyone thought you were dating in s3, cameron

another good moment for cameron at the end of the episode, calling in the surviving baby's parents to hold her for a bit. (love that chase then reported this to house: it's not clear if house asked him how cameron was doing — he asks foreman, so it makes sense he'd check with chase too — or if chase reported it on his own, which also makes sense because chase telling house every bit of gossip he hears is a very consistent character trait lol)

speaking of foreman, his insisting that cameron has everything handled just fine is a) a blatant lie and b) very funny from foreman. which makes him sound like a douche but. he really did gain his ruthlessness later, didn't he?

actually, if house asked both the boys how cameron held up, and foreman lied and chase told a story of cameron having a Good Idea, that's kind of sweet. they're both covering for her/sticking up for her…

i haven't mentioned it but the clinic patient this episode always makes me laugh. shoutout to the actress, she just keeps saying this stupid stuff "oh man! wow!" but with this sincere, no brain cell enthusiasm that is so funny to me.

"do you think you could — " "no." "do the prenatal?" "no." "or deliver the baby?" "that would be no." "oh - kay!"

even though it's probably just a pillow they stuck under her shirt or something, i actually appreciate wardrobe remembered to have the woman who gave birth two days ago have a very noticeable stomach while sitting around in street clothes. realism!

house is oddly gentle with cameron in this scene at the end. "you look tired… you had a hard time this week." i know you can read it as oh, he's in love with her, but i don't think we're supposed to; i'm pretty sure it's a fragment of his nicer s1 personality. because we really don't see it again after s1, even with people or in situations where he's trying to be gentle. ("oh, it's because he's in love with cameron" i'm really not convinced that was the direction of this episode.) it also make's cameron's angry reaction a little odd - not that she wouldn't be defensive, but… house is being so nice, lol. he's not being a bastard at all! just wait until he really starts meddling in your life, cam!

i find it very unlikely that cuddy, tearing apart the hospital for days, didn't notice the old lady loitering around the maternity ward coughing constantly. i find it unlikely no one mentioned her. i get that we're not supposed to worry about these facts

Jessie's friends create a new superhero group, and Michelle becomes a new hero being a spy. (Like in Totally Spies & the character of Kim Possible)

Now did I cry when Eddie said goodbye to Chris? Yes, yes I did.

But here's my thoughts about the last two episodes:

- Eddie Diaz : the whole thing with Kim was actually crazy of him, but her playing Shannon?? That man has a reason to act like a mad man but girl what are YOU doing?? That was a quick expedition out for Marisol too, Buck and him see to have a way to make girlfriends disappear this season.

- Chris Diaz : valid. I get why he thinks it's better for him to be away from his father for some time, it's probably a good thing actually for them to have space to breath and accept what happened. But the Diaz parents?? Ramon shit talking about Shannon every chances he's giving (he literally did it at her funeral that man has no shame), and Helena acting like she just won lottery, please at least ACT like you're not happy to take Chris from you son. Honestly if my own mom wasn't sitting right next to me I would have been insulting both of them so MUCH.

- Hen Wilson : I'm mad that they were all going to be happy and then that woman whose son hasn't been mentioned since like ep2? comes to take her revenge out of nowhere. When I saw Mara all closed on herself and quiet when Hen visited her that broke my heart😭 then at the end the emotional whiplash of Chris leaving, instantly followed by the Wilsons getting reunited with Mara, ouch (is it like 'a soul for a soul' but with family, like they CANNOT be happy at the same time??), also I know the plot was for Gerrard to come back, but I love Captain Wilson, and I wanted her to take after Bobby

- Chimney and Maddie: they're relatively absent from the final 2 eps so I don't have much to say, I loved Chimney calling Gerrard trash to his face, and I loved Maddie. I just love Maddie.

- Buck : such a good husband for his chaotic dating-the-doppelganger-of-his-deceased-ex husband... He was just so supportive and trying to help, gosh he's just so cute. But MORE IMPORTANTLY where's my angst?? You're telling me Bobby's in a coma, and all we got from Buck (who's basically his son) is one line of dialog AFTER we know Bobby's going to be alright? Sentence immediately followed by an awkward sex joke argh!! My favorite thing about 911 is Bobby and Buck's relationship and I don't know if it's just an impression but i feel like they barely had any interaction this season, I missed them, I need more of them!! Also all things considered Buck had quite a quiet and calm season, which does feel weird and not something that will stick

- Athena : she mentioned Emmett and I was just woop crying incoming! I'm not gonna dwell on the whole cartel thing, I'm sure people already express so many opinions on this, my real question is how many times can Athena break rules before getting a problem with the hierarchy? (ik she did in s1, but since then she's been pulling some sketchy moves from time to time with no problems afterwards). Also ik the house was going to burn but I hadn't thought of the implications, that they would loose all the memories and stuff and that's so sad, I totally get her panic about wanting to get everything that's on her phone to still have SOMETHING.

-Bobby : please bobby never leave the 118, maybe they could handle it but I couldn't, so please don't leave ever.

(-Tommy : whether you ship them or not, the last scene we got of them together (dinner at Buck's) should start an alarm in your brain about their future together, specially once you consider Gerrard's come back. Tommy literally says that Gerrard's the closest things he got to a father figure when he was in the 118, and that it didn't help him be a better person. (ik he's not saying he saw Gerrard the way Buck see Bobby but he still acknowledge that he saw him as a model of some sort), that's the online line 'acknowledging' Tommy's past actions, but also showing that he followed Gerrard's lead, and we know Buck is not going to appreciate Gerrard's way of leading and this definitely could be a big cause of conflict between Buck and Tommy...)

It feels weird to finally be up to date, and to know killer bees will attack LA in two days😭

In the files, Coyote Nelson is the name of the fisherman you meet at fishing spots.

A bright kid of Blackfoot heritage and the go-to person for all things computers and arcade machines. He keeps it on the down low.

The character’s full name apparently is Morris Aubrey. He’s the person who’s always near Far Cry Arcade machines and telling you how “awesome” the game is.

Scooter

A supply runner for the Whitetail Militia.

All I know about Scooter is that, according to a deleted mission objective, this character (who was also cut) was supposed to be escorted to the Wolf’s Den at some point.

7x10 Speculations

So, today we got stills (x) and I have some theories. It’s going to be multiples theories at once, so buckle up.

First, I think the episode will pick on the same night when Athena’s house burns.

The dinner date – The aftermath of the Kim/Shannon situation

I think Buck’s night starts by him cooking dinner for his dinner date with Tommy. Tommy wouldn’t be here maybe because he’s still on shift. Then, he receives a phone call by Eddie who is losing his shit after the Kim/Shannon incident. Buck talks with Eddie who explains to him everything. Maybe Eddie will explain that Chris has locked himself in his room and both Kim and Marisol broke up with him. Then, the Diaz Parents are here. Why are they are? Same reason that Abuela was there for the wedding, YOLO. Maybe the Diaz parents are there to visits family, don’t forget that Tia Pepa also lives in LA. I think they invite themselves or Chris called them since he knew they were coming. But I think they invite themselves and they feel that something is fishy. Just after they arrive, Buck gets a phone call from Tommy and is happily leaving. Then the Diaz parents look at Eddie who has no one in his corner. Eddie explains the situation and even shows them the photo.

Buck then has his date with Tommy and everything seems to go well. Either during dinner or after, Buck gets a phone call telling him that Bobby and Athena are in the hospital. Tommy goes with him; Lou has been seen wearing the same clothes that he is during the dinner dates.

The Madney – Henren scene:

From interview, we have seen JLH wearing the same outfits that she’s wearing on the still and on that same interview, Aisha was wearing the same outfit that she’s wearing on the hospital stills. It seems to be a happy scene full of smile and sunshine. We know that’s not going to last. JLH had said either in interview or in a story that Chimney and Maddie will do something romantic for a couple. My guess is that after the Mara situation, Chim and Maddie invites the Wilson at their home and try to find a solution. There’s a theory that’s roaming around and I agree with that theory. I also think that the solution find would be Chimney and Maddie proposing to become Mara’s foster family until she gets permanently placed at the Wilson’s. Will they succeed on the episode? Not likely. The episode seem packed but I think they will be one step closer and that will set their storyline for S8. Then either Chim or Hen gets a phone call.

The hospital:

I think Chim and Hen would arrive alone and first. Upon seeing that neither Buck nor Eddie are there, I think they will call them and ask them to come. Then, the four of them are. Athena wakes up and asks for Bobby. Bobby is not doing well because well the guy is on a ventilator. So, not fun. Then the chief comes and informs them of Bobby’s retirement. Which is why they are shocked. I also think that Gerrard might replace them, we saw the actor on set. I have another theory so more on that later.

The day after: I think most of the episode will be spend during the morning after and I have multiple points.

The 118 will stay all night and the scene with Chief Simpson might be the day after.

All the 118 have a moment with Bobby. Eddie has one and will pray using the Bible gave him.

Hen might leave first, maybe to confront the congresswoman or to have a meeting with Dedra. She will then call Chim to explain the situation.

Buck and Eddie will go home and change. The next day, Eddie will have a talk with Christopher who will say that he’ll leave with his grandparents. Eddie will not take the news well and will have a talk with his dad. Since the previous season, Ramon became more and more supportive of Eddie so I think he will try to recomfort Eddie by telling that Christopher leaving for the summer might be a good thing. If one of the Diaz parents will attack Eddie, it would be Helena.

Before Chris leaves, Buck goes to say goodbye to Chris. Before leaving, Eddie and Chris will have a heart to heart and maybe Chris will tell that he’s mad at his dad and leave without forgiving him.

Athena will leave the hospital and goes to Amir. She feels that something else happen in the desert will find a photo that would prove that. She goes to Amir to asks for question. But then, the troubles come. I think that the Cartel are the one that burned Athena’s house. They have the resources. Also it won’t be the congresswoman; Bobby has no tied to her son’s death. Hen was in charge that night. Not Bobby. Bobby was away.

What about Gerrard?

The fact that he was bought from the flashback is interesting. The guy will for sure come back in S8. I think he will replace Bobby as captain. Gerrard is just one lucky son of a bitch.

Why wouldn’t it be one of the 118? Let me explain

We know for Chim that he doesn’t want to be captain. The guy had the job and prayed the Lord for Bobby to come back.

I think Eddie doesn’t want to be captain. He seems content in his position and might not want to be captain.

Buck is not ready to be Captain. Buck is the one that is more captain material. He was shown to have leadership skills. But he also lacks rigor and discipline. He would be a great captain, could even be better than Bobby. But now is too early and he still has a hot head temperament.

But then why not Hen? She was acting Captain twice while Bobby was gone, one in S6 when Bobby was in Florida because Athena’s dad had a heart-attack, once in S7 when Bobby was on a cruise. So, if Hen had been already been acting Captain twice, why not a third time? Two possibilities:

One. The chief refuses because of disciplinary reasons. She might got a medal because of the cruise ship situation. She still disobeyed orders. She might not be awarded because of that.

Two. The congresswoman. I don’t think we will see the last of her in S7. She is razor focus on ruining Hen’s life and she pulled out the Mara situation pretty easily. Who said that she doesn’t have another card in her hand?

Guide to all charts on this blog

The "most popular ships" and "most popular tags" charts are most often connected to a certain character.

Please not that the number of percentages in my pie charts correlate to the numbers in the chart and NOT the overall number of hits I got.

Meaning: All the hits displayed in the chart make up 100% and if I get many hits off Ao3 not all the hits will be displayed in the charts and the 100% will be made up from the most popular hits only (which are then displayed in the pie chart).

Long story short: I let Excel convert the real numbers I make the pie charts of into percentages.

I try to make my charts as easily accessible as possible. This includes:

writing that isn't too small

numbers and writing in black instead of grey etc.

colours that are easily distinguishable (no too dark colours next to each other etc.)

no colours from the red/green spectrum directly next to each other because some Tumblr users might have red-green colour blindness

colours that won't make you fall asleep

colours that (in combination with each other) won't give you an epileptic episode from looking at them

everything written outside of pie charts instead of outside and inside for easier comprehension

the same kind of chart for the same categories (pie charts for ships, bar charts for the most popular tags etc.)

I cannot account for everything though and might make mistakes. Some of my earlier charts might also not really conform to the above in all aspects.

I finally was Willkommen'ed into The Kit Kat Club yesterday and took as many notes as possible... so here they are in no particular order.

Space / Atmosphere + Prologue:

From the moment I walked in it was chaos and it felt like a movie. The energy and music were very reminiscent of David Lynch. The dancers were perfectly marvelous, and the musicians were so jovial. The general transformation of the August Wilson was UNREAL.

Performances:

Eddie Redmayne's Emcee -

Eddie's performance was UNBELIEVABLE. His interactions with the cast were brilliant and he brought a surrealist monster almost Pennywise The Clown meets The Child Catcher quality to the Emcee. So gleefully evil. He was so mesmerizing on the stage. No Alan Cumming, but I definitely felt some Joel Grey echoes in his performance.

Gayle Rankin's Sally Bowles -

Gayle's Sally is far more vulnerable and feels almost like a young adult trying to figure herself out. She's got an incredible voice, too. I laughed a lot at some of her quips.

Ato Blankson-Wood as Clifford Bradshaw -

Ato's Cliff seemed a little sidelined, which I don't know was a directorial choice or what. His Cliff seemed more anxious and confused. It's not a role you can really do much with. He had some really touching moments with Sally.

Bebe Neuwirth's Fraulein Schneider -

Give this woman a Tony. Jesus Christ. I loved the chemistry between her and Steven Skybell's Herr Schultz, very sexy, funny, and reminded me of my aunt. She gave such a beautiful performance with such complexity.

Steven Skybell's Herr Schultz -

He gave such a heartbreaking performance. He was funny, honest, and had such authenticity. It was remarkable. He also deserves a Tony Award.

The Kit Kats Girls and Boys -

I had a couple of interactions with the Kit Kats one being Mimi Scardulla as Texas who enjoyed my outfit. All of them were exquisite, and the costumes were deliciously colorful, and the makeup was amazing!!! 😍

Their choreography was energetic and lively until the very end when it became more controlled like strings were being pulled which was very jarring. The lighting also showed this.

Favorite Moments:

Before the show even started I had a couple fantastic interactions with the prologue dancers and musicians one being Sun Kim who grabbed my Playbill and introduced themselves through it to us.

A few songs into the first act Eddie Redmayne was in within feet of us and walked by us I think before or after "Don't Tell Mama" waved and creepily smirked at me, whilst giving me direct eye contact. I was thinking to myself "Dude, get the hell away from me!" 😂😳

Eddie Redmayne's rendition of "Money" was pure nightmare fuel and reminded me of "Be Prepared" from The Lion King. Especially, when he was risen up to the top. Then, the use of the same costume later on during the reprise of "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" was horrifying and brilliant.

Bebe Neuwirth's "What Would You Do?" destroyed me. The staging and lighting of this song was so impactful and altered me and left me feeling feelings on still having trouble describing.

Gayle Rankin's "Cabaret" reminded me a lot of Jane Horrocks's in her vicious delivery of "Cabaret" which will forever be seared into my brain.

THE. ENDING. It was haunting to see The Emcee go back into the same physicality as in the beginning during "Willkommen" but with a twist it and from where I was sitting it looked like he was trying to form the shape of a swastika with his arms.

Experience Overall -

I'm still trying to process everything and the performances. This blew my mind and I hope to go again!!! This was literally the best thing I've seen on Broadway in a very long time!!! The reviews don't seem to know what they're talking about!!!

-Style: I’m open to a variety of styles, I roleplay everything from one sentence “text message” style to multi-paragraph advanced lit. Though my preferences tend to lean towards lit/advanced lit.

-Expectations: One of the things I loved about Omegle were the casual vibes when it came to when an rp needed to end. So, while I hope for some long term rps, I’m looking for people who will be okay with rps ending when interest dissipates. Without the need for big explanations as to why. This goes both ways! I won’t expect such explanations from you either if we start any sort of storyline and you end up wanting to drop out. The way I see it, this is meant to be a fun pass time and ideally shouldn’t feel like a stressful obligation for either of us.

So I've decided to rank the episodes from s7, and here are my list

1. Step Nine, best episodes of this season hands down! Bobby's backstory was already tragic and the writers just love to make him suffer

2. Abandon Ships, also an iconic episode, started the season with a bang, its a shame it went downhill later on. Showcased the team's dynamic in its finest, had great moments for everyone!

3. Rock the boat, Athena and Bobby were perfect in this episode, loved seeing them being badasses! The 118's storyline was good to, but I dislike how they played out the councilwoman storyline later

4. Capsized also iconic, all episodes of the cruiseship arc were great! The banter between Lola, Norman and Julian was soo funny and I wanted Julian to stay on the show. Bobby and Athena were great, I loved that Hen decided to rescue them, I need more of her and Maddie!! Still kinda mad that we didn't get Lucy

5. Ghost of a second chance, it was an okay episode, Maddie and Athena working together is always great, I loved the scenes between Maddie and Chimney. Bobby carrying the baby while Amir is watching them was also great! I loved the moment between Buck, Eddie and Chris, my only complaint about the episode is that it introduces Kim

6. There goes the groom, I wasn't totally happy with this episode, I wanted the Madney wedding to actually focus on them, but Doug had more screentime than Maddie :/ loved Chimney's parts (also the Buck and Eddie moments in the beginning). Maddie and Chimney deserved to have their dream wedding, not this

7. You don't know me, the only saving grace of this episode is Mara! I love her and the Wilson family! Also the moments between Maddie and Eddie and Buck were good, but the Marisol's nun storyline and the date ruined it for me

8. Buck, Bothered and Bewildered. Nope, i disliked this episode, it wasn't the 100th episode I wanted. Buck being confirmed as a bisexual is the only good think about it, but I hate the way how they did it. I wanted the episode to focus on the 118, maybe a BBQ at Bathena's place. They brought Harry back, but acted like he disappeared after this episode.

9. Ashes, Ashes... Only thing I liked was the converstation between Buck and Eddie which showed us how well they understand each other and Ravi being back for a minute. I hate the councilwoman and Mara being taken away storyline, how Bobby said goodbye to everyone because he wanted to kill himself, Kim showing up cosplaying as Shannon and Bobby getting a heart attack

10. All fall down. This episode was a mess and not in a positive way. I'm happy that Mara is with Madney, but thats it. The pacing was weird, the order of the scenes made no sense (looking at the date scene) and everything was super predictable.

Immediate Post-Episode Thoughts - 911 S8 Finale

I honestly didn't hate this episode as much as many people seem to. It was a bit anticlimactic, yes, and we missed out on a lot of conversations we should have been able to see, but we did get some good moments. I think with maybe one or two more episodes they might have been able to tie things up a bit better than doing this episode with the 5-minute montage at the end-- there were clearly a lot of things cut out that we missed.

Here are some of my thoughts:

Baby Bobby: I'm obviously extremely pissed about Bobby being gone and about the way it was handled, as I think most people are. I expected Maddie and Chimney's son to be born in this episode, and for his name to be Robert, and I loved the moment with Athena holding baby Bobby, and though it was heartbreaking, it was sweet. If Bobby's death had been handled in a better way and he got a proper exit, I would have appreciated it a hell of a lot more. (If he comes back, well, it might be a bit obvious of a retcon, and I don't quite know how they'd pull it off, but it wouldn't erase the trauma that everyone went through, and it could possibly even add some more for the characters while still giving us our Peter Krause and Bobby content that we so desperately desire. Would I judge them for it? Yes. Would I judge them as much as I'd judge them for keeping him dead? No.) Also, I'm not touching the whole 'how long was Maddie pregnant for?' thing, because I honestly have no idea but I know this show loves fucking with timelines. (And also how they tend to write as they go)

"Copy that, Cap- uh, I mean, Chim." : Chimney as Captain is a good move, in my opinion. I expected Hen, like a lot of us did, including the other characters, but I'm very happy with Chimney, too. A lot has changed since the last time he was in charge, and I think he could be a really amazing captain. How he will manage being captain while also having a newborn and dealing with a ton of trauma, I'm not sure, but I do believe Chim can do anything he sets his mind to. I also desperately need to give props to Kenny Choi because that man is absolutely incredible every single week, and I love him so much.

Eddie coming back: Yes it was rushed and a little dumb and I'm begging for Eddie to have some things happening actually on-screen for once after this season, but I'm glad Eddie listened to Chim about staying. I think Chris is happy with that decision, especially since he is excited to be with his friends again. I would have loved to go more in-depth with that, and to see a lot more of Eddie and Chris in general this season and how they got over everything that happened with Kim last year, and I will hold a grudge about that, trust me, but fingers crossed we get some more of them next season, and I'm getting a feeling that we will.

Buck 'moving out': Honestly, this didn't really surprise me as much as you might think. Buck has been saying this season that his house is Eddie's house, and he's been feeling abandoned and like Eddie doesn't love him as much as he does, and while we know that's not true, and Eddie knows that's not true, Buck doesn't. His self-doubt will almost always win out. Besides, it makes logical sense for him to start looking for a new place instead of just living on Eddie's sofa forever, right? But that doesn't mean he's moving out right away, and it certainly doesn't mean we lose hope. When Buck is talking to the realtor, he says he wants something that feels more lived-in, like his last place. He won't be able to find the feeling he's looking for in another apartment, and I think that could lead into some new understandings for him next season.

Mara Wilson, officially: I'm so happy for the Wilsons and for Mara finally being officially adopted. I've been waiting for it all season and I obviously wished it wouldn't have been rushed, but I was more worried it might happen off-screen instead and that we wouldn't get the most adorable family scene of them in the courthouse, so I'm content.

Listen, do I have super high hopes for the next season? No. I know well enough not to. But am I closing? No. There are a lot of people working on this show who genuinely love the characters and their stories and want what is best for them, and no matter how pissed at Tim Minear I might be, I want to continue to support those people. I hope that maybe TPTB will see the response to this season and make some changes to the way they're doing things, and I'm not holding my breath for that, but I'm not completely giving up either.

The point of this, I guess, other than just being a diary post for me so that I can sleep tonight instead of thinking about all of this, is to say that we lost a lot this season, but we got some good moments, and we can mourn what we lost and celebrate what we have at the same time. All I can hope for, I suppose, is that next season, we gain more than we lose.
