If you lie to people about how The Murderbot Diaries "isn't" literally just the harmful, biologically essentialist nonbinary/aspec robot stereotype, you are literally going to accomplish nothing except making people hate you and this series because you've now lied to people about it being more progressive than it truly is, so when they spend money to read these books you've promised them actually care about nonbinary and aspec people beyond harmful, bioessentialist stereotypes, they're going to have to find out the hard way that Martha Wells does not in fact, have a single human aroace character or even aspec character of any type in this series of more than 7 books now.
They're going to find out the hard way that the only human nonbinary characters are literal tokens who are on screen for about 2 mintues before being shoved out of the story again, never to be seen again. Long enough to get people like you to lie and claim the series cares about nonbinary people who are not bioessentialist stereotypes, but not long enough to actually commit to doing so.
Stop telling people that The Murderbot Diaries' representation of nonbinary and aroace people is more than just harmful, tired, bioessentialist stereotypes. You are fucking lying, and you are only going to make people hate you and this series because now you've fucking betrayed them and lied to get them to read something that is exactly what they didn't want to see: More shitty old bioessentialist stereotypes that you pretend are okay this time because you like the character and don't give a fuck that there is LITERALLY NOTHING in more than seven whole books now to make the stereotypes anything more than shallow, cis-minded biological essentialism.
Murderbot and every other actual robot in this series is nonbinary and aroace because they don't have genitals. Because Martha Wells is many things, including an absolute worshipper of biological essentialism.
Stop fucking lying to people and pretending these books are more progressive or ""nuanced"" in their representation of nonbinary and aroace people than they actually are.
Just because you like Murderbot does not mean it is not literally the walking nonbinary / aroace robot stereotype.
(And no, just because Martha Wells is so incompetant that Murderbot is actually a cyborg but she keeps acting like it's a robot because she does not know or care about the differences between them despite bragging that she's been reading scifi since the 70s does not make this any better)

like please for the love of god can i just have aspec characters who want and ache and hate and FEEL. im sick of all aspec rep being either Uncaring Robot or Delicate Sweet Cinnamon Roll. i want aspec characters who have strong feelings and strong opinions and express it. i want aspec characters who fuck nasty and aren't afraid to talk about it and i want aspec characters who yearn in a way that's more heartbreaking than cutesy and i want aspec characters who loathe, really really loathe, romance or sex or friendship and aren't afraid to say it and i want aspec characters who are messy and i want aspec characters who don't know what they want and i want aspec characters who know exactly what they want and aren't afraid to go after it.

So I just finished watching “Blade Runner” (The Final Cut) for the first time after re-reading “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”, and I just feel like…they took all of the best, interesting, thought provoking parts of the book and decided they didn’t belong in the movie?
The first seven pages of DADoES I was constantly remarking “oh this is an interesting thing to say about humans/robots/aromanticism-as-tied-to-robots”, and at that point I had to stop myself from making detailed notes so I could actually finish the book in a reasonable time frame. After BR, I don’t really have anything to analyze or remark upon except “they took all of the roboticism out of the allegedly robot movie, and now there’s no aromanticism either”.

robotfucker but in a nonliteral sense. vibes only. i would engage in acts of extreme, intensely trust-based, emotional intimacy with a robot. however i would rather be killed than have sex with one. im not a coward, im just asexual and it's not my thing as a general statement. the idea makes me feel icky. if anyone or anything tries to make me have sex with it i'll just kill myself on the spot. but in spirit? based on vibes? i would be a robotfucker. does that make sense

I am *sick* and *tired* of non-allo representation where the character is Aro/ace. Like yes, they exist, yes, the representation is a good thing, yes, aro/ace people deserve to be seen and heard and represented, but where's the representation for the allo/aces?The Aro/allos? The demi people? The aro- and ace- flux people? WHERE IS OUR REPRESENTATION?!?

Asexuality, Autism, And The Eroticism of The Machine (but it's a google form this time!)
Hey guys, as we know by now I am totally 100% normal about robots. After the end of my last poll on this topic, I decided I kinda wanted to make a more in depth survey. Once again this is just out of curiosity, I'm not doing any like academic research or anything. If you took the first poll and/or are interested in this topic and/or just like taking surveys, please go ahead on take this one :)
The Google Form Where We Are Normal About Robots
Thanksies!

as an autistic aspec person, i think it's important to talk about how writers (intentionally or unintentionally) using autistic and aspec coding to make robot characters seem more, well, robotic, is incredibly offensive and dehumanizing.
as an autistic aspec person whose special interest is robots..............

aro & ace books: robots, cyborgs, etc
This Golden Flame - one MC is an aroace girl, the other is an automaton (no sexuality)
Hamlet, Prince of Robots - various ai/robot characters, Hamlet is ace mlm and Ophelia is aroace
The Cybernetic Tea Shop - romance between an asexual woman and robot woman
The Murderbot Diaries - murderbot has no sexuality or gender, but also, not feeling sexual/romantic attraction / being repulsed by it is essentially aroace coding. also if I left this out everyone would comment about it !
Heart of Iron - word-of-god ace MC, her love interest is an android
The First Sister (trilogy) - one MC is lightly ace coded, Synthetics (ai/robot people) are a significant element later in the series
Yours Celestially - one of the two MCs is a nonbinary AI, who very lightly references not feeling sexual attraction at the end

Mascot I did for an aro and ace discord community :)
It's a space kirin! It needs a mechanical vessel in order to not endanger the fabric of reality accidentally when interacting with things!
I tried my best to sneak in well Aspec and Arospec symbology to both designs :}

Fun harmless tumblr quiz abt icons has caused some bizarre introspection. We know Papyrus thinks Mettaton is sexy but not to what extent. Is it his personality? Does he have a thing for robots specifically? Is he attracted to Mettaton or does he just find him sexy? Basically would Papyrus Undertale think the animatronics from fnaf are hot. That's where this is going
