We're getting goofy with this, but which of your muses would be most likely to fall for the updog joke?

Hello Anon, thanks for the ask! 💜 I love the silly asks C:

Okay, so I've never watched The Office (please nobody riot, I'm doing my best here 😭), but I assume this is what you're talking about.

If I had to choose a few muses I think would fall for that, I would have to say it would be Loki, Thor, Steve, Charlie, Draco, Harry, Luna, and Valerie.

Loki and Thor

Loki and Thor would probably be so confused by it at first 😂😭 Thor would probably take it in stride once someone explained the joke to him, whereas Loki I could see pouting just a little (since "he's supposed to be the prank and mischief person 😤") and still being like ??? I could see Thor running around and telling the joke to Lady Sif and the Warriors Three, having to explain it (although he doesn't mind, he's probably excited to teach them something new), and so on. Loki's so done with him by the end of it, hearing the 'updog joke' a billion times by the end of the week.

Steve Harrington

He's a little... slow to catch on at times. I don't necessarily want to call him a 'himbo', but even Dustin has to correct him several times 😂😭 I don't think Steve would get it at first until he sat with it for a second to process, in which case, he'd probably laugh a bit and roll his eyes. Steve probably thinks the joke is dumb, but he's not opposed to using it on Dustin (who probably playfully ribs him about his sense of humor). He definitely wouldn't let Nancy or anyone he was romantically interested in hear him tell the joke (and would probably secretly die of embarrassment if they did).

Charlie Bradbury

Honestly, Charlie probably loves jokes like this; don't get me wrong, she would get annoyed having to hear the material used repeatedly, but she would probably store it and occasionally use it to break the ice (I imagine her using it on Castiel and he just *squints, tilts head ???*).

Draco Malfoy

Much like Loki and Thor, he's raised to be a little more proper (I use that term loosely, but basically, he was raised as an aristocrat, so he doesn't use as much slang and things of that nature). To be honest, this joke is probably wasted on Draco (he would probably be more annoyed that you wasted his time with something he would consider dumb, although he would probably fall for it).

Harry Potter

The twins would likely pull this joke on Harry at some point. Considering half of his life was a lie and the other half he had to relearn because he didn't know that part of him existed (in this case, the Wizarding World), Harry would probably likely think he missed something in his studies at first. At least until the twins are howling with laughter, anyway.

Luna Lovegood

This girl would probably politely listen to your joke, give a soft giggle, and then proceed to tell you about some creatures that actually used to be called Updog (or something similar). 😂😭 Luna would probably think it's funny to listen to you tell the joke to others, too (and honestly, I think she might dissociate just a little when she's heard the joke a few too many times, letting her mind wander off to whatever creature she's interested in at the time).

Valerie Moore

She's curious about the world and there are always new things, so she would probably fall for this joke, thinking it was something she hadn't heard about yet. It would take her a few seconds or so to process it, then she would probably laugh it off and think it was silly. Much like Luna, she would probably zone it out after a few times of hearing it. Depending on her mood, she might try the joke out on a few people (particularly Eddie Munson and Steve Harrington).

A - A hero who slays the monster still takes a life, still has blood on his hands. (second person pov rewrite of a sanders sides fic)

N - Nikolai.

That’s the name the demon gives, years after their first meeting, when Lethe is the one to accidentally find him instead of the other way around. It is a name that will fall a thousand different ways from his tongue, and few of them good, for how would he ever say the name of the demon blackmailing him as anything but a curse?

But for now, it is simply a demon, who he knows against hope that he will see again.

S - Silence falls then, as he dares not question what the God is doing there, and nothing else is asked of him. When he finally take his chances and looks up, the dog and God are both gone. The only evidence that they were there is the bruise that mars his shoulder, the imprint of the hand both different and the same as his father's. (epic the musical sharpwolf crackfic from antinous' pov)

W - What follows is a cruel prank to play on someone, but he remains standing by the bell, eyes steadily resting on the one that set it up. The ferryman's smile doesn't make it to his eyes; an empty expression to match Jesper's own. The chaos around them fade into the background as black eyes meet. (first draft of ch. 3 of with blistered palms and busted knuckles)

E - Eddie sidles up next to Harrington by the sinks, turning on the tap so that he can use washing his hands as an excuse for being there. Harrington doesn’t react, his reflection apparently holding the answers to all of Earth’s questions. It’s strange because Eddie has focused his high school years on being loud, putting a target on himself that makes him hard to ignore. Harrington is only a grade under him, so he has to be aware of who Eddie is, and he won’t take being ignored by some rich kid experiencing an existential crisis. (the stevie h agenda: eddie's pov)

R - Robin is the first one she tells. Not that she's not a guy, not that she's growing to hate being referred to with male pronouns. Just a simple "My name isn't Steve." as she adds an ”i“ onto her name badge in marker. It's not all that different from telling Hop her preference, but there's something more definite about it. Another step of separation from whom she used to be. (the stevie h agenda)

S - Steve gets it, gets dreaming of something else after what they’ve been through. Gets the idea of moving near the Rockies and getting a ranch. It’s a joke between them now; Steve gets an RV that they all can fit in, and Eddie gets a ranch that they can all live on; the kids, the two of them, Robin (and Vickie), Wayne Munson, and whoever else wants in on it. (horny cowboy-themed steddie)

This was fun! Really had to dig through my WIPs once I got good excerpts from the 3 that I'm focusing on atm (...none of which are stranger things)

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

I would honestly rate my writing a solid 3½. I know that I have lots of room for improvement and growth– I've even seen growth from fic to fic or chapter to chapter and it makes me really proud to see how far I've come. 

2. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

Personally, I think that my setting/world-building and “set direction” helps me stand out. In college I did screenwriting for a bit and that's how I kinda do my rough drafts, writing them in present tense and making sure I’m showing and not just telling. Also making sure my OCs or characters have special awareness of things and people around them. 

3. Are there any writers that inspire you?

SO MANY TO EVEN NAME GOOD LORD. When I was initially invited into discord servers, I was fangirling in my apartment with my cat over basically being in the same room as some of (what I consider to be) the best and biggest writers of the fandom that I had been reading for months prior. There are so many mutuals and people who inspire me, too many to name specifically, but I will say that Hope (aka pilotisms/whirlybirbs) is the one whose works really gave me the courage and motivation to start writing in the fandom for the first time. IWe’ve never talked, but I hope she knows I think about Vacant Mirrors religiously to this day.

4. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

It’s so hard picking between your children! I think it’s a close tie with FOXHUNT and FILTHY, IMPETUOUS SOULS but the latter probably takes the top spot atm. It’s been so well received, even more so than I could’ve ever imagined. I almost scrapped the entire thing and I’m so glad I decided against it.

5. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write and which do you find most difficult to write?

Bucky and Steve both come easiest to me. Finding a good flow for either of them depends on my mood and muse, but I gravitate towards one or the other 99% of the time. I'm terms of difficulties, trying to write OFCs or minor/background OCs is harder for me since they don’t have a “format” like pre-established characters do. 

6. Who or what do you find yourself writing about most?

Bucky. Bucky has always been my muse since Day 1 and most of my little notes or WIPs involve him in some way. Also writing settings in college or around college is a pattern I’ve noticed that, although I will never give up, I have been trying to do different time periods and not involve school since I’ve been out of it for a good two years at this point.

7. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about!

I've had this specific WIP idea/concept going on 2-3 years now and it's coming together… albeit incredibly fucking slowly. It takes place within the 6-9 months between Endgame and TFATWS and involves a lot of angst, healing, and melancholy. I've been including details from the Falcon and Winter Soldier comics along with Bucky’s healing journey through grief and PTSD, amongst other things. It's been in the works for too long, so who knows if it'll see the light of day? 

8. First fandom you ever wrote for?

One Direction. I was 11 and had unrestricted Internet access. I was unstoppable. (If anyone was on Miss Literati you’re a real one.)

9. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?

Omegaverse, hands down. Also poly fics (stucky x reader, my beloved.) 

10. A trope you’ll never, ever write for.

I cannot for the love of God do pregnancies, time travel, or fantasy. Just doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

11. Wildest fic you’ve ever written?

Probably the first time I wrote smut, which was my Ranch Hand!Bucky fic, Impressions on the Inside of Your Thigh. I wouldn’t necessarily call it wild, but to me it was/is!

12. Favorite pairing to write for? (platonic or romantic!)

Honestly? Stucky. There's something about the endless possibilities of their dynamic that makes lil ol bisexual me’s heart swell with happiness. The best thing is, they’re so versatile; you can have them be platonic or romantic and still bring out their unconditional love for one another. 

13. Do you listen to anything while you write?

If I really need to get into the mood of the specific story, then yes. Otherwise, I'll either have a Twitch VOD on for background noise or just put noise-canceling headphones on and zone in on the quiet. 

14. One-shots or multi-chaptered works?

One shots! 

15. Have you ever daydreamed about side adventures/spin-offs from your fic? Tell us about them!        

Literally every time I work on one. I’ve thought about one for Chains Around My Feet where it’s like a prologue leading up to the events in Chains, but it felt more appropriate to leave it as a one shot. FILTH, IMPETUOUS SOULS also gets a daydream sometimes about how their dynamic might be back at home base, the aftermath of the fic’s events, that sort of thing. 

16. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

Omegaverse. I’m slowly working up the courage, but I just don’t feel like I’m ready yet. There’s also another WIP that I had started for Whumptober 2023, but it was just too intense that I scared myself out of finishing it and posting it. HTP is definitely not for the weak of heart and mind.

17. What’s the nicest comment you’ve ever received?

There are legit so so many lovely ones, but I think one that stands out at the moment was when I wrote the weight and someone said something among the lines of “I don’t really read Stucky a lot but this just convinced me to read more” and that felt like such an accomplishment to me.

18. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

Chains Around My Feet was my first Whumptober work and was definitely something I had never done before. I actually was pretty impressed with myself on how well (in my own opinion) I was able to write horror/whump with a Dead Dove ending. Pretty proud of it still. 

19. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?

Merciless Angst!

20. Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!

Not that I can really think of. If an OC counts as an x reader? Then the Reader I came up with for my years-long WIP. 

21. If you could enter the universe of any one of your fics, which would it be and why?

Honeysuckle, hands down. Living and working in Avengers Tower, adventuring in NYC, enjoying the sunsets, all while doing it with the Bucky Barnes? Yes. Fucking. Please.

22. Is there anything you wish your audience knew about your writing or writing process?

When I write, the scenes play out in my head like a literal movie. I see it as scripting everything out and then running through and editing scenes, and then when everything is done, it plays out like a fully fleshed out film. It’s both a blessing yet a curse, but it’s so integral to my process.

23. Copy and paste an excerpt you’re particularly fond of.

From FILTHY, IMPETUOUS SOULS:

He scoffed a laugh. “You weren’t exactly on my list of things t’do.”

“Well I hope I’m a top priority, now.”

“Number fuckin’ one.”

24. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

I wish I could stop time and just sit down for a week and get my WIPs started and edited and DONE. I’m entering my busy travel season for work and don’t have nearly as much time and energy as I did like a month or two ago. I miss it. I miss my muse, I miss being able to sit down and spend time fleshing out all these ideas in my head. The other side of it is lack of engagement (mutuals you’re okay i promise) and lack of feedback. Like yeah, kudos and likes are okay, but whenever I get a reblog– one that isn’t from a minor or bot account– I get so happy. When I get a comment, it’s like striking gold. I just wish that the passive consumption and aggressive demand for our work would die down and readers would take the time to even share our stuff. It’s disheartening to see your favorite authors cease writing because what’s the point anymore, ya know? Anyways, SUPPORT YOUR WRITERS!

I have two H 5-0/MacGyver crossover fics! One is a oneshot, Just the Place to Go, which has a great sister fic by @saintsurvivors, blood so red, it stops a father's heart, which is in Steve's POV.

My other fic is a currently unfinished WIP that is set pre-series, post-army. It may or may not be undergoing a rewrite to fix some characterizations sometime soon, but if you're interested, it's Lighting the Final Candle and has 20k words atm.

Both reference the fact that Jack and Steve are old friends and have some History™️together. Happy reading!

I'm always delighted that after everything EVC went through during the CACW era, with stevebucky AND stevenat shippers saying she wasn't worthy of Steve's white patriotic ass and sending her hate 24/7 because she was no "Peggy", when in fact they only said that bc if Peggy was the love of Steve's life and Peggy was dead then that would up the chances of Steve ending with either Bucky / Nat (and like, I have to laugh that stevebuckies REALLY thought they had a chance there), at the end the Russos Brothers heard them and indeed made Peggy's the love of Steve's life by making him go back to the past and everyone was raging mad about it (and also pretended to be mad because "Sharon didn't deserve this" lmao) BUT ALSO

I really can't believe that MCU Peggy, who they had to give Sharon's personality because in the comics she's literally just mentioned in passing at best, at worst they show how Steve would be miserable if he ever stayed in the past and married her was played by such a vile disgusting woman who FEED to the hate saying stevesharon was disgusting and that if Peggy was alive she would ground her niece for kissing HER MAN and then slap Steve just because she was mad they didn't recast her as Sharon and she couldn't keep kissing Chris Evans anymore like she wanted to

I've been thinking about my MCU preferences since your Tony commentary and I realized something: I would actually love a Cap that lived up to the potential of his CW character. In canon and fanon, Cap is boring and over-sympathized. But the concept of an out-of-time man too human for his pedestal, who would let the world burn just to cling to the one person left from his past life, to the one person who's an even more messed-up version of the same science experiment he is? ~That's~ compelling.

“Hey sweetness,” Steve drops some papers onto the coffee table, hair slightly tousled. He shrugs off his brown leather jacket and slings it over the back of the sofa. 

You smile as he reaches your place on the sofa, his hand cupping your jaw and raising your face. He plants a kiss to your forehead before moving into the kitchen, his footsteps slow and tired. Envelopes flutter onto the island as he leafs through the mail you’ve left for him. You know where he’s going next. 

Thick ropes of worry begin to coil in your chest as you ask, “Good day?” The last envelope falls. 

“I guess,” he says. Footsteps again. “No missions coming up, but I gotta get Tony to lay off of Wanda—“ the fridge door opens and he stops talking, interrupting himself. Half empty jars clatter against it as the door hangs open. He calls your name, but you already know what he’s going to say. 

“There isn’t much in here,” he says, matter-of-factly. You know. The soured leftovers from last week, three lemons and a packet of sliced cheese decorate the inside of the appliance, and you feel a sudden anxiety warped guilt settle into the lining of your stomach.

 Maybe you should’ve nipped out to get some groceries or snacks for him, but you’re sitting on a see-saw of ignoring food’s existence, and scrutinising everything about it; going to the store would only tip the see-saw the other way. 

Steve’s been speaking for a few seconds now, and you’ve missed all of it. The fridge door shuts and he calls your name again. You twist on the sofa as he leans around the corner, eyes slightly narrowed. 

“What’d you have today?” There’s no malice in his tone, nothing to set you on edge the way it does, your fist twisting in the fabric of the cushions. He’s curious, if anything, but you haven’t thought this far ahead. 

“I went out for lunch,” you say, not quite meeting his eyes. He nods, eyes cast to the floor, spins about forty five degrees on his heel before something clicks in his head and he turns back. 

“What’d you get?” He asks, a hint of concern disguised by gentle curiosity. You stumble over your words at first, relief at his exit extinguished instantly, something about a salad automatically falls from your lips. He frowns, approaching the sofa gingerly. You look away, heat heavy behind your eyes because this is in your past, isn’t it? You both know that.

He places both hands on the back of it, leaning slightly over you. You can’t read the expression on his face, and the silence is painful, creeping up your arms and burrowing into your skin. His eyes are sincere, searching both of yours, as if he may find his answer somewhere in them. 

“You okay?” His voice is soft, genuine, no sign of anything other than love. You nod with a forced smile, a safe response. “Can you look me in the eye and say it?” 

He can see straight through you, knows it was a little mean to press, but he cares too much about you to let it go when you can’t comply. He rounds the sofa and you scoot over to give him some space, the silence heavy around you both. He rests an arm over the back of the sofa, inviting you to lean against him. 

You do, but you’re stiff. When his hand falls onto your shoulder, he knows, and tugs you further into his side. His cheek meets the top of your head as he tries to navigate the emotions in his heart. 

“Sweet girl,” he says finally, with an extra squeeze. “You don’t deserve this.” 

You wring your hands together in your lap, not having anything to say that doesn’t feel… artificial. 

“I…” he holds in a sigh, not wanting to sound disappointed. He’s far from it, in fact. “I want to help.” “I know,” you say quietly.  “Let me,” he says, more of a suggestion than a statement: he doesn’t want you to feel cornered or pressured. “Doing this alone, it’s, it’s terrible.” “Steve—“ “All I want is for you to be happy. God knows with my job it’s hard to be.”

He slips his arm under yours, tucking you further into his side as it rests along your side. You smile at your hands.

“It’s not as hard as you think when Tony doesn’t shut up about you,” you say. Steve chortles, then sits a little straighter, as if he only registers your words then. 

“What does he say?” 

“Oh, you know: Rogers just took down five men with one throw of his giant frisbee. Rogers needs to stop being such a smartass because it’s making me look bad in front of the others. Usual Stark stuff.”  Steve chortles, and there’s a light silence. He lightly clears his throat. 

“Will you help me?” He asks.  “With what?” 

“Help me to help you,” he clarifies. “I want you to be happy and healthy, and Wanda tells me that Vision is actually a good cook, despite the, uh, novelty of it. He could teach me some tricks.” He struggles to end his sentence as well as he’d like, but hopes he’s got his point across. You contemplate his suggestion, and then look up; he's watching you carefully, but kindly. Another squeeze of his arms as he realises that you're thinking.

And finally, “I can try,” you say, and his hand squeezes yours. 

“That’s all I ask, sweetheart.”

The way Steve’s heart tumbles and fumbles when Tony calls him his “work husband” in an interview. Like, 🤩 yeah, Steve likes that, not just for the semi romantic element but also the idea of a work family is right up his alley atm. And maybe Steve tries calling Tony HIS work husband and gets away with it

Maybe sometimes Steve calls Tony “work [insert term of endearment here]” and mostly gets away with it.

Maybe once or twice Steve slips and just calls Tony his husband or whatever, haha oops it’s so hard to keep up with all these modern slangs and jokes ha ha h a

OHHH yes I do love mild-mannered troll!Steve and that would be such a great angle to take. It becomes a running joke, like haha old man!Steve has misunderstood modern terminology and no one has had the heart to correct him so they let him just get away with it, so Steve is giving interviews talking about his "work husband", his "work spouse", his "better half.... at work" though maybe by the time he gets to "work sweetheart" some people are like wait a minute, what's going on.

Meanwhile Tony's just like, Steve's weird, who knows what he means with anything. Until Bruce sends him a massive reddit thread analyzing Steve's interviews and he's just like....???

"Hit the three targets at once."

"I can only focus on one-"

"No, no, that's not true. You can do this, (N/N)." You sighed, nodding as you raised your hand, lifting up the three rocks. Clint pointed at each target he had set up. The farm was a great place to practice. You looked at each target, spreading your fingers apart and watching the rocks line up with each target. You thrusted your hand forward, watching the rocks fly forward and hit the center for each one. You grinned, laughing as you heard Laura and Lila cheer from their spot on the porch. Cooper mimicked your movements, feeling Laura pat his head.

"That's what I'm talking about." Clint grinned, ruffling up your hair. You rolled your eyes, looking forward at the targets.

"Now, try out water." Clint said, picking up the bucket and placing it infront of you. You moved your hands infront of you, focusing on the water. The bucket began to shake as the water swirled around.

"Relax." Clint said softly, glancing between you and the bucket. "Don't get nervous or frustrated."

"Okay." You nodded, relaxing your shoulders. You took in a deep breath, eyes closing. You heard Clint let out a suprised chuckle. You opened your eyes, seeing the water in a bubble above the bucket. You slowly pulled your arms apart, watching the water separate into thirds.

"Now, focus on the targets." Clint instructed. You shifted your gaze away from the water, focusing on the targets. You thrusted your hands forward. The water almost reached the targets before falling to the ground.

"Well, better than yesterday." Clint said, hands on his hips. You chuckled, nodding. The only thing you had done was tip the bucket over.

"So.. Natasha mentioned something about you and Wanda." Clint looked at you, cocking a brow. "Do we need to have the talk?"

"Yeah, no. I'm good." You shook your head, chuckling. You rubbed your arm, opening your mouth to speak before you got a notification on your phone. You checked it and sighed.

"New mission?" Clint asked. You nodded, glancing at your mother and siblings.

"I'll try to make it back for dinner."

You fixed your hat, glancing at Wanda as she took a sip of her tea. You heard Steve's voice through the earpiece as you scanned your surroundings.

"What do you see?"

"Standard B cops." Wanda replied, making eye contact with you. You rested your head on your fist, gaze flickering over to the police station.

"Small station.. Quiet street." Wanda added, glancing over her shoulder. "It's a good target."

"There's an atm on the south corner which means-"

"Cameras." You muttered, looking down at the drink in your hand. You listened to Wanda and Steve, looking up when Natasha cut in.

"You guys know I can move things with my mind, right? (Y/N) over here is slowly becoming Father Nature." Wanda said, grinning. You rolled your eyes, shaking your head.

"Looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." Natasha said, shooting you two a look.

"Anyone ever tell you that you're a little paranoid?" Sam asked.

"Not to my face. Why? Did you hear something?"

"Eyes on the target, folks." Steve cut the chit chat. You continued to look over the people around, frowning.

"Go now."

"Why?" Wanda asked, looking at you in confusion and slight panic.

"He's not hitting the police." Steve answered. You and Wanda stood up, ditching the small cafe area. She grabbed your arm, using her powers to lift both of you into the air. She flew over to the Institute of Dieases, letting go of your arm as you shot out a root to a wall. You were able to swing down to the ground, landing beside her. You swallowed, thrusting your hand forward and blinking when a ball of fire shot out, hitting one of the men back against a truck.

"Now really isn't the time to be figuring out new abilities, (Y/N)." Sam called, knocking out a guy Wanda had thrown up into the air.

"I know." You breathed out. You really hoped the new abilities didn't interfere with the mission. Wanda lifted Steve up to one of the floors, glancing at you.

"You'll gain control of them." She assured you as she used her powers to clear out the gas. You ran a hand through your hair, growing nervous. Sam took up into the air, arms extending downward. You raised your hands, roots shooting up and wrapping around his arms.

"Christ, you're heavy."

"Oh, fuck you, bird boy." You huffed, gripping onto the roots as Sam took off. You definitely still hated flying. You didn't look down until Sam got to the marketplace. You followed Sam, spotting one of the men. You clenched your fist, making the ground under the man split off and rise. Sam flew up, punching the guy off and knocking him out when he landed on the ground. You let the piece of ground down as Sam searched the guy. Sam shook his head, standing. He helped Natasha out with 'Red Wing', getting what the team needed. You rolled your eyes as he and Natasha went back and forth, walking through the market to find Steve. You flinched, looking up and seeing a building with a few floors on fire. You looked forward, seeing Wanda with a hand over her mouth.

"Fuck." You whispered, jogging over to her and placing an arm around her. Wanda stared at the building, eyes watering. You swallowed, rubbing her arm.

"(Y/N), I'm gonna need some water." Steve called. You gently let her go, walking forward. You looked at the fire truck, raising your hands and watching the water. You guided it to the fire, a small smile slipping. You took out the fire, a breath of relief leaving you. You turned towards Wanda, approaching her.

"Come on, let's go." You said softly. She gently grabbed your arm, flying back to the aircraft. You entered and sat down, watching her. Wanda gently rested her head on your shoulder.

"I'll never be an Avenger.. I'll never be good enough to be one." Wanda whispered, staring at the ground. You frowned, giving her arm a squeeze.

"You are good enough, Wanda. You did what you thought was right." You said softly, watching her. Wanda sighed, biting her bottom lip.

"What if sometimes doing what you think is right.. Is actually wrong?"

"There would've been way more casualties if you hadn't done that. Cap might've been hurt too." You pointed out, glancing up when Sam arrived. Natasha and Steve arrived soon after. The ride back was silent apart from Steve and Natasha giving out reports.

"Where should I drop you off, (Y/N)?" Natasha asked, looking over at you.

"Home." You answered. Natasha nodded, looking forward again. You gently nudged Wanda.

"Stay for dinner." You said softly. Wanda gave a small nod, avoiding everyone's gaze. You sighed, glancing at Sam. It had been the first mission as a team. It was technically a success since Natasha had gotten what was needed. You stood up as Natasha lowered the aircraft, letting you and Wanda out. You headed towards the house, entering and sighing.

"You two look exhausted." You turned towards Laura, chuckling softly. Laura gave Wanda a smile. After the mess in Sokovia, Clint had introduced the family to Wanda. She was beyond happy when Clint told her Nathaniels middle name would be Pietro.

"Hi, Laura." Wanda greeted her, leaning in and giving her a hug. Laura smiled, hugging her back.

"You two should take a bath. Come on, you can use some of my clothes." Laura said, smiling and pulling Wanda upstairs. You looked at Clint, rubbing your neck.

"I shot fire out of my hands." You muttered. Clint blinked, staring at you with raised brows.

"The mission was a successful but.. There were accidental casualties." You told him softly. Clint sighed softly, offering a supportive smile.

"I'm sure if you could've prevented it, you would've." Clint said, giving your shoulder a squeeze.

"What if I hurt a teammate by accident? That guy I hit with fire could've easily been Cap or Sam." You frowned, arms crossing. Clint gently pulled you into a hug.

"You won't hurt anyone. You just have to figure out how to make your powers come out when you want them to." Clint leaned back, patting your shoulder. You turned your head, hearing Nathaniel coo and blow raspberries. You smiled softly.

"I'm gonna go shower." You said, heading up the stairs. You entered your room, getting a towel and clothes before entering the bathroom. You turned on the water and sighed, looking into the mirror. You wiped at some ash on your cheek, watching the mirror fog. You stripped and entered the shower, relaxing at the feeling of the hot water. You gently ran your hands over your arms, thoughts drifting back to the fire ball. You turned, letting the water hit your back.

"How the hell am I gonna do that again?" You frowned, watching the water. You cupped your hands, letting water fill in. You licked your lips, focusing on it. The water slowly took a circle form, rising up from your hands. You smiled softly, lifting a finger and touching the side of it. You blinked, lips parting as it slowly turned to ice. You caught it as it dropped, hissing softly.

"Jesus, fuck." You shivered at the coldness, giving it a light squeeze and turning it back to water. The water slipped through your fingers, still cold. You finished showering, drying off and changing. You stepped out of the bathroom, entering your room and noticing Wanda brushing her hair.

"How you feeling?" You asked softly, dropping the dirty clothes into the laundry basket. Wanda shrugged lightly, placing the brush on the bed.

"Fine, I guess.. Can't wait to hear what the media has to say about it." Wanda replied, playing with the hem of the sweater. You took a seat beside her, gently bumping shoulders with her.

"Nobody cares about what the media says. They say we're heroes one day and villains the next." You said, watching her. She nodded, fingers going over the brush. Wanda turned her head, giving you a defeated smile. You stayed silent, taking in her tired features. Wanda slowly leaned in, pressing her lips against yours. She leaned back, humming softly.

"That felt weird." You mumbled, chuckling softly. Wanda nodded, smiling as a small laugh left her.

"We're better as friends."

"Yeah, definitely. Plus, I think Vis likes you." You told her, smiling. Wanda's brows rose, looking at you.

"Really?" She asked with a small smile. You nodded, looking up when Laura peeked in.

"Dinner's ready." She chirped. You got off the bed, helping Wanda up from the bed and heading downstairs for dinner.
