the new post button calls me, whispers seductively that I should post all my hot takes on atonement theories, even though I have literally been a Christian for less than a month and know almost nothing about anything

I'm thinking a little bit about atonement tonight and there's so much support on tumblr for the humanist view of the crucifixion as God's act of solidarity with humanity. and I don't disagree with this. I think that's part of it. but I would ask: what is salvific about the crucifixion and resurrection if it's only an act of solidarity? if it's just to feel our pain, how are we redeemed? without atonement, without redemption, without salvation, we have a Good Friday that never rises into Easter. so there is atonement. but it's not that God demands blood, or exactly penal substitionary atonement, or divine child abuse. it's that sin, the abuse of our free will, has consequences. natural consequences: inequality, broken relationships, pain, death. it's not just our own sin; the sin of all humanity is like a web that we can't free ourselves from, and the spider is coming.

until God steps into those consequences and bears them for us, because God can bear the weight and remain God. we cannot. this is why Jesus has to be fully human and fully divine: if he's not human then we aren't saved. and if he's not divine he is destroyed. it's not just solidarity. it's a saving act. it's something only God can do. and God does it purely out of love for the creation that God made good and will make good until all is perfected at the end of time.

My Sonic 4 Villain Theory

I know logically the villain will have something to do with Chaos, but let me offer an alternative: Stone.

Stone being the villain is an idea I've seen thrown around, but let me put my own hat in the ring of what he would be doing.

An angry and grieving Stone wants vengeance on Sonic and friends for not saving his Doctor. He decided the best way to enact his revenge is to fight fire with fire. He knows that the only one who was able to soundly beat Sonic was Shadow, so he goes searching. He either finds a grievously hurt Shadow that he puts in a healing stasis or a bunch of Shadow's quills (either in military wreckage or amongst Gerald Robotnik's belongings), and proceeds to build an army of metal Sonics powered by Shadow's quills.

I personally lean more towards Stone finding a weakened Shadow and forcing him to produce energy, maybe using special inhibiter rings or something. I think having Shadow-who's completely done with the revenge business-be an angel on Stone's shoulder could be an interesting concept, especially since Shadow was was both loved and used by two different Robotniks.

We could also have Omega be Shadow's prison guard who comes to care for him and actually help Shadow recover.

uniquely in the First Splinter Timeline (book canon), i think kathryn would regain all of her lost/hazy memories from all that happens to her in the Q Continuum when she's brought back from death. which, GOOD OR BAD, would allow her to remember those three hyperevolved glory days. :)

(multiple timelines allows me to enjoy playing in both sandboxes of kathryn can/can't remember how the triplets came about haha)

also i think everyone just assumes she'd be fine and well-versed in having a baby but she actually isn't and she's terrified of the whole ordeal and it's way harder than laying eggs haha.

I was sick this entire day, but before bed, my daily theory.

Thank Saints that the event is on a Saturday, I would have actually skip school to watch it(/j)— but let’s talk about what we want to happen on the 4th.

Obviously, the eggs coming back is a major one. While not confirmed, it would line up if they did come back since we know that their all stuck somewhere completely different to the main island. And, with the most recent Quackity tweet, we can assume they were stuck in a place called Purgatory.

How they got there, no clue, but we know that Purgatory just by the name alone is no bueno. And apparently, that’s where the islanders are going. They all have a one way ticket to Purgatory, yay.

The thing is, where and what the fuck is it? Is it another island? Is it a dimension? Is it genuinely the afterlife? The tickets themselves were given out by Cucurojo, or black Cucurucho, who was thought to have no connection to the Federation. But, at the same time, the Federation obviously knows about Purgatory given ElQuackity had stolen the ticket from Quackity to go there. Describing it as “a place worse than torture .” (Loose translation I’m tired lmao)

Not to mention the black concrete, which was probably Purgatory leaking through onto the island. But, what does it fucking mean? Here are my 2 working theories.

1) It’s a place where, like it’s name, we get to see the islanders pay for their sins. What sins you may ask? Well, breaking all those rules of course! It could be a mass punishment to the islanders going through many challenges, from harder mods, to harder enigmas, to fucking “survival of the fittest” type bullshit all while protecting the eggs that have been living there for the past 2 months!

2) Like the 1st theory, expect this time instead of island, it’s a different dimension entirely. That’s why ElQuackity was sent there to give feedback to the Federation to explain how they could get rid of it while also keeping an eye of the islanders to make sure they don’t die.

Who knows at this point, but I hope Etoiles gets that fucking Periodite! He’s gunna need it! I’m excited for the horrors that are gunna unfold while I most likely do my laundry while watching the streams lmao.

I was debating giving Angelo a tiny braid.

(Pherhaps his parents or that kid that became his friend for the summer made it. One of the few things he has to remember his family and, dare I say even home planet, by. Really it's part of why he's drawn to stargazing. He loves his brother's, but the chance he actually get's to go home is near zero, and sometimes the longing for his first family strikes him)

As a neophyte, he used to fidget with that thing when he got nervous. Grew out of that habit at some point, but he does touch it when he needs to think.

He looses that thing either when:

- he dies for the first time (big 'fuck this guy in particular' in addition to Dad dying and also a couple months later finding out you got spit out about two centuries to late)

- he's lost his helmet, is delirious and about half feral (imagine a bio-titan but in miniature, he get's caught in that things gas cloud, his healing factor just bearly enough to repair the damage he takes), trying his utmost to get the geneseed of his fallen brother's home (*can't* fail. *won't* fail) and at one point he get's swallowed by an oversized tyranid (perpetual tyranids. Now that's terrifying)

Point being, in both scenarios he misses when he looses his braid and he's only going to notice once he is far enough removed from the situation that he won't even be able to recover the lost braid.

(Like the first scenario takes place on a ship in a room, potentially the braid get's shot off by a stray bullet, either way that thing get's cleaned up with everything else after he gets put down like a rabid dog.)

(The second is possibly, lost in an active warzone burried under several Mt's of debris to be added to the tyranid biomass, dissolved by corrosive gas, dissolved in tyranid stomach acid or spit, or just plain burned or cut of)

Angelo's usually pretty cheerful. Keep your chin up, take joy in the little things wherever you can; quick to rouse to laughter; remember those who died, because their memory deserves to be remembered, even if it's just by one person.

My gut reaction says he would be angry. A single moment where he would be furious.

But probably more likely he'd just be stunned speechless, absolutely devastated for sure and just plain sad. Anger might come later for now he mourns this piece of what he lost.

He wouldn't withdraw physically but he becomes quiet and melancholic.

Does a lot of star gazing, the stars in the rough direction of his homeplanet can hold his attention for hours at the time (would be a shame if that place got exterminatus'ed, they do have that warp portal).

Puts on a smile whilst performing his duties, but an outside observer can see that his heart is not in it, despite his efforts.

He was already a good listener, but during this time especially he enjoyes to just sit in a crowded space and listen. (Bit like a drooping flower.)

(When deep in thought, he still reaches for the empty space where the braid would be, catches himself most times, but briefly presses his lips into a tight line every time it happens)

give your whumpee a comfort item.

give them a doll, a stuffed bear, a photo, a book — anything at all. regardless of what it is, give them something that means the world to them. even if it seems small or insignificant to others.

perhaps it’s the only comfort whumper allowed them, or a gift from a deceased loved one. whatever way whumpee ended up with this possession, have them become so completely and utterly attached to it that they can’t be parted from it. make that simple object be the only thing they’ve been able to cling to through years of torment. have it act as a reminder of safety, of being loved, of anything whumpee holds dear.

then tear the item from their arms and destroy it.

I HC that Dick's family endangering themselves is one of the only things that really pisses him off, so this is how Robin: Son of Batman happens in my head:

Damian: "No, you are not coming. This is something I have to do alone."

Dick: "Agreed, this should stay between us. I won't even tell Alfred."

Damian, frowning: "No, you are not listening to me. Only I am going."

Dick, nodding: "Mhm, just you and me, like the good ol' days."

Damian, seething: "You are being obtuse on purpose."

Dick: "Yes, yes I am. Because you are twelve and as important as it is, you are definitely not allowed to go on this trip. So either you let me come along or you're grounded."

Damian, bewildered: "What? You cannot ground me! We do not even live in the same house anymore!"

Dick: "You want to test that theory? :)"

Damian, sensing danger: ".........On second thought, I will let you tag along."
