I knew about top "nullification" surgery where even the nipples are erased from your body, but today I learned about bottom "nullification" surgery. When you think you've seen all the ways in which patriarchy exerts its power, you find another one. Of course it was someone who's female and identifying as non-binary who did it. I saw the pictures. She's in her early 20s, had the option to get the nerves out (so not being able to feel anything down there) but at the last moment was convinced by her mom to keep them. Still, that surgery consists of sewing everything shut except a small hole to urinate. This is the "modern" FGM, the "everything is a choice" option and they (surgeons and people who support this) will try to draw you as the villain for pointing out the issues before ever questioning the ethic of such surgeries. If you're asexual then your sexual organs won't force you to have sex, you can live without using your vagina for sex or delivering babies for that matter. Your body is not a customisable machine from which you leave out the parts that you don't like at some point in your life. The hegemony of capitalism (which dehumanises humans and try to make robots out of us) coupled with patriarchy is what made this horror possible.

You can have a been a young girl raped by a man and getting deeply traumatised for it to the point you want nothing to do with your body anymore, and greedy surgeons will take advantage of this distress and clear ptsd. I am full of rage. I won't ever stop fighting for women's liberation and having this as my priority when the situation for girls and women regardless of how they identify and everywhere around the world is this terrible.

is feeling like you'd rather have a robot or no physical body a trans thing? i've only chatted about it with either very sympathetic people — "you were born at the wrong time!!" — or people who don't understand what i'm on about at all. listening to transition narratives makes me cry because what i want isn't possible obviously, but i can't tell if i'm just co-opting an experience or aomething. i am trans cos non-binary definitely, i just can't tell if "my body is okay because what i want isn't physically possible" is just me kidding myself that i don't want to be on t lol. sorry if you're bored of this type of question, i haven't been on here much recently.

It's a very common nonbinary thing, and a very common Autistic thing. It is also, I must say, a common gender dysphoria cope when one is dissociating from one's body super hard. I would suggest you try doing something to bring your physical life more in alignment with your feelings. It doesn't have to be T, it could be surgery, tattoos, robot suits, latex, body modifications, meditation, robotification hypnosis, learning a new skill, practicing a sport, or something else entirely. My point is that your wellbeing is not a lost cause. Listen to these feelings and explore them. Being dysphoric about having a human body and none of the existing gender options fitting you is a horrible, horrible feeling with no tidy solution, but there are things you can do to address your discomfort and to nurture the creature or object that you are inside. You can attend to that feeling, love it, let it grow and lead you. You needn't give up on yourself and spend your whole life just dissociating from it.

i really like the idea of male/female language as a whole being a foreign concept to cybertronians until they start interacting with organic species and then decide, "oh, hey, this is kinda neat, actually."

"but idw already-" idw had male as the default gender, with female being the extra option. i mean male AND female, as well as other such terms, as very much an organic thing.

i like thinking about it from a linguistic perspective. sure, cybertronians had different sets of pronouns already, but maybe those were moreso about frame type rather than male/female. seekers, speedsters, big grounders, motorcycles, all of them would have different sets of pronouns. (for example, tfa prowl and tfa arcee would have the same pronouns, despite us considering prowl male and arcee female.) when the ark crew came to earth and started learning earth languages, they'd have to adapt their terminology to better communicate with their human companions.

but this leads to the question: how do they decide which ones to refer to themselves and their fellow cybertronians by? the simple answer is to compare cybertronian frame types do human body types. ie, optimus, ironhide, and bumblebee all have stereotypically male bodies, so they decide to use he/him for themselves, while arcee, chromia, and elita one have stereotypically female bodies, so they decide to use she/her.

but then what about the cybertronians who feel more comfortable referring to themselves with the "opposite" pronouns, or those who are fine with using whatever? would they be considered trans by earth standards, or are they just figuring out where they fit in earth culture? what if cybertronians just rejected the idea of conforming to human gender entirely and found ways to translate their language into earth languages? what about cybertronians interacting with humans who speak languages without gendered pronouns, like finnish, iirc?

this is less of a discussion of gender as a whole and more of cybertronian -> human linguistics, but it's something that i find fascinating. because, realistically, why would robots stick to a he/she binary? why not go with something like alt modes or frame types for pronouns, since those are more common? it's something i might play around with more in the future when i have my thoughts more coherently collected.

Cybertron's Location

Okay so Alpha Centauri is named as Cybertron's star system in multiple continuities.

Easy, right? Just make up a planet for Cybertron to be. Plausible enough that there's one out there we don't know about.

NOPE. I found a spot for it.

The Alpha Centauri system has three stars in it. These are Rigil Kentaurus (α Centauri A), Toliman (α Centauri B), and Proxima Centauri (α Centauri C). I'm going to be calling them by their non-ABC names for distinction.

Alpha Centauri, as we see it, is Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman's lights being indistinguishable from one another. Those two are a binary star system of sun-like stars, so their orbit intersects and they look something like this:

Meanwhile, Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf, and orbits at a pretty far distance, like so:

It's still part of the same star system because it still orbits around a common point, but in any planet that orbits Proxima, Rigil and Toliman just look like exceptionally bright stars in its sky.

So the question THEN is, which star does Cybertron orbit?

Proxima's the most obvious candidate. It even has a full planetary system:

Proxima Centauri b is in Proxima's habitable zone (the area where water could feasibly exist as liquid), and it's just a little bigger than Earth.

Generally speaking, Cybertron is depicted as larger than Earth, so let's set that aside for this post.

Proxima Centauri d is a tiny planet that's closer to Proxima and no smaller than a third Earth's size.

Proxima Centauri c is either a super-Earth or a gas dwarf, about 7 times Earth's mass, which is disputed both in its nature and whether or not it's really a planet (it's complicated). Regardless, it's outside the habitable zone.

So it could be Proxima c. That's our default option. The biggest problem is the lack of a habitable zone, because, while giant robots don't necessarily need comfortable heat to live, there's the whole "acid rain" and "sea of rust" deal that'd be hard in a planet that far from its sun.

Granted, sometimes Cybertron is seen hurtling through space without a sun or any of those features to speak of, but I'd like to account for it.

So what about the other two?

Toliman was claimed to have a planet orbiting it in 2012 (α Centauri Bb), but by 2016, it was more or less conceded that said planet didn't exist.

Rigil Kentaurus, on the other hand...

Meet Candidate 1 (α Centauri Ab).

It orbits within Rigil's habitable zone, has a period of about a year, and has a mass between Neptune and half of Saturn, with possible habitable moons.

Does it exist? Maybe.

The thing is about Candidate 1 (yes that is its real name) is that it wasn't observed for long enough to confirm its existence. It COULD be a planet. It could also be dust that got captured, or an artifact of the observational instruments.

THIS is my proposal for Cybertron.

TLDR: There's a (possible) planet that orbits the brightest star of the Alpha Centauri star system in its habitable zone and it's bigger than Earth.

i randomly remembered a fic i’ve read a while back and it was in AO3. and now that i thought about it, i wanted to reread it again. BUT THE PROBLEM IS— i don’t remember the title nor the author. i was hoping you guys could help, it was genuinely one the best fics from the fandom i’ve ever read.

about:

(i’ll give the reader she/her pronouns because i find it easier to storytell)

i don’t remember if it involved romantic relationships, but i remember it being a platonic fic with gregory. basically the reader is a humanoid (extremely humanoid) robot made by henry (she doesn’t know that yet). she was so human that even she herself believed she was

the fic starts with the reader “waking up” in an abandoned building where she’s confused out of her mind. i don’t remember much, but i think she found a tape recorder where she was then being spoken to by henry. it then cuts to the scene where a patrolling police officer(?) spots her and tells her off to leave. frightened, she musters up the strength to run away and out the building. a barricaded window was her first option to escape, and of course, with it being barricaded, she needed a way to get through that. so she runs full force at it. yep. full force. and the scene leaves us off to the police officer being in shock of what they witnessed. that’s our first introduction to the fact that the reader is NOT human. again, she doesn’t know that. (i think)

after running and walking for a while she goes inside this library where she makes it to the bathroom. there, she spots herself in the mirror with BLACK LIQUID coming out of her eyes. i remember she described herself as ‘looking crazy’. now that’s when we really know she’s not human. i think the black liquid coming out was oil(?). i don’t remember.

and now we’re at the scene where she discovers the place where security breach happens—the pizzaplex. i think she was reading a newspaper? or looking through a computer from the library. i honestly don’t know what happens after this or how it happened.

but i do remember that we go through the whole gregory fiasco with, well, gregory. and i also remember that she gets these random binary codes throughout the fic. and they usually say stuff like “protect” and “danger” robotic stuff like that. i’m pretty sure she was made by henry to ‘defeat’ william.

the last thing i remember reading is when she had a ‘nightmare’. that’s all. oh yeah and the animatronics recognize her as ‘one of them’. so they don’t attack when they see her

TLDR:

i’m looking for a fic in AO3 where the reader is a humanoid robot made by henry to ‘possibly’ defeat william. the reader looks and acts like a human with no trace of being a robot, the lack of the need to eat and sleep being the only exception. it is set during the events of SECURITY BREACH where we accompany gregory through the horrors of the pizzaplex all the while finding out who and what we are. we constantly get binary codes throughout the fic telling us to “protect”.

yeah i mean i have definitely had that reading before; as of The Epilogues we know that Jade thinks she might’ve identified as non-binary had that been an option when she was growing up. so from a Watsonian perspective that makes a lot of sense. From a Doylist perspective, however, i’d have to say that i think Jade is in some ways pretty obviously transfem coded — the world’s loneliest girl, raised to be into guns and robotics by her very sexist grandpa, and the whole canonical “oh no i’m a girl with a penis” puberty horror thing she has going on is basically the cherry on the cake, especially with how she leans into that in the Epilogues.

me and my friends have this crack theory that is so dear to my heart it became an inside joke in the group.

The crack theory is that "shin is a robot" or like moreso a doll in this universe. You might say where did this come from, well one day on a call with a friend we discussed shin death, and then i went, "wait, how the fuck did shin run all that way toward the room of rumbles", i mean we are talking about shin, not qtaro, shin. Shin was probably shot in the arms and leg, and a bullet must've have come close to his head to explain the bleeding. How did shin, the weaket character in the game was SHOT in the limbs and was able to run FASTER THAN SARA towards the room of rumble. Shady right well then he's a robot!

Also i have other proofs, shin in his vision sees himself dead, just like he actually has died just before the death game, in none of the minigame do we see shin bleeding.

Some Role swap character lore that I wrote in a group, but bringing onto the main so anyone interested can have it:

Forte:

Wily's son alongside Piano and Yellow Jacket, programmed with a much more empathetic and energetic personality. When Dr. Light started causing trouble with his robots, it was Forte that chose to be upgraded and combat them to hopefully carve a better future down the line.

Piano:

Wily's daughter and Forte's sister, she relied more on intelligence and technology, even creating her own gadgets and tools. Being used to helping Forte out in such a manner, she very quickly became an operator along side Gate and many others.

Quint:

Formerly: Rock or Rockman

A tool originally only meant to kill and destroy based on Forte's schematics, only to be brought to their side much later down the line. Feeling love and affection from everyone else is foreign but not unappreciated.

Yellow Jacket:

Forte's older brother, who was originally meant to be a medical unit. Unfortunately Wily messed up his emotions and he was completely apathetic when he first awoke, even when Light tried to fix him his emotions were still diluted and weak.

Zero:

The first robot able to think for himself, Dr. Cain found him and raised him, research into Zero lead to the creation of reploids. His name was meant to represent the binary code within them all. It's Zero's corruption that awoke Serges and Isoc earlier than intended.

X:

The first Maverick. His name is the action of crossing something out, once and for all. (His lore is unfinished, but I do plan to expand on it.)

Vile:

A Maverick hunter that's gotten into trouble a lot from outside influence, trying his very best but failing miserably. Only for Serges and Isoc to wake up early and take him in, as a result Forte, Piano and Yellow Jacket all treat him like a younger sibling, and set him back on the right track. He's still afraid of crumbling back to that state at square one though.

Dynamo:

A more laid back and relaxed bounty hunter that was hired to help out with Vile and around the base, more often than not its Yellow Jacket preventing him from causing too much trouble while bored.

Luminé:

A reploid completely wiped of his memories that accidentally started a fight between the Hunters with an illegal organization, his calmer demeanor along side his abilities have made him a great help and asset however and everyone appreciates it.

Gate:

After Alia's defence of him ended up with her in jail and him without a job, Gate found himself looking for other job options quickly to avoid getting scrapped. This resulted in his position as an operator for the maverick hunters, more often than not giving instructions alongside Piano and many others.

His only remaining possession outside of his lab coat is a single white cat that used to be a stray at his old place of work, their name is whiskers.

Everytime I click off this blog I come back 5 minutes later with new thoughts AGH!!! ON the topic of gender in relation to the mephones I've always been a HUGE sucker for exploring gender identity and all things like it through the lens of robots who, of course, are not programmed with any biological sex to speak of. As an intersex person who has had to grapple with literally fitting outside the binary in terms of biology, it's so interesting to think about how the meeples would interpret gender roles and. Gender. In General.

Obviously, the only one who assigns them a gender is (presumably) Cobs, but how? Are they programmed with the knowledge they are a 'he' or 'she'? (Which seems like the only two options available, sigh, we're still waiting for that nonbinary mephone line, Cobs!!!) Or are they only aware they're an 'it' before Cobs just decides? Do they give a fuck? I'm guessing most of them probably don't care, other than the more emotionally in tune ones, but how far does that go? Could Mephone7 understand gender? Do they have a REASON to understand gender?????

Something something this is all just my absolutely insane ramblings because these concepts interest me so much and I need to get it out, but I think gender and robots is such an interesting mix because gender is already a societal thing, but robots don't mesh with that society at all, so I love thinking about How Robots would Interpret our little societal cues and necessities!! (They'd probably find it very stupid if im being honest)

Anyways, all of this is to say I think the mephones that do care about gender at all would be very queer. -2G Anon am I a reoccurring character?

HELLO! [sprunki fanlores you]

"Sprunki" is the name of the town that they all live in. Humans died years ago, and in replacement of them were humanoids that were either half-creature (People like Durple or Pinki, who is a dragon and a rabbit respectively) or half-object (like Clunkr and Vinera, who have a cymbal and maraca vines)

They all live in Sprunki, which is very much "old Cartoon Network town" in the way it's built, on a small network of islands with similar creatures on the surrounding ones.

Now, when humans died out, demons and angels decided it was safe to come back to the surface, and they all rose up I'm a forest right by Sprunki. Mysteriously, only a few survived to present day; two demons, being Raddy and Gray (who is premature and doesn't remember anything, while Raddy is fully grown and does remember), and an angel named Jevin, who only survived because he never came down to begin with and was caught by Tunner before he could get killed.

One other thing came up from the darkness, though; his name is Black. He's like..sprunki slenderman, I guess. He lives in the woods by himself and has tendrils that he tends to like killing people with, since he was outlasted by the angels for so long Eventually, this anger comes to a boil, and he mutates Simon (one of the Sprunki residents) in order to have him execute multiple of the townsfolk. He didn't intend for Simon to bite Brud's head off, and certainly didn't expect Brud to just...keep...walking. So, Black took matters into his own hands. He calls it the Rapture, killing and mutating most of Sprunki and the surrounding islands, with the only survivors being Jevin, Gray, Pinki (despite getting her face ripped off), Fun Bot (since he's a robot and therefore immortal), Mr. Tree, and Brud (despite getting LITERALLY HALF HIS HEAD EATEN)

Wenda also survived, but it's hard to count her when she's possessed by Black and keeps killing people, too

Thing is tho I don't think he realizes it. Like. They're from the fuckin 50s there is no way in HELL they have a good enough grasp on the concept of gender to even. Consider non-binary a possibility. Like that's just never been an option to him. Also I don't think he would be particularly gender dysphoric, so there's nothing really pushing them to think about it? Like they feel comfortable presenting as masculine, feel comfortable using he/him, don't feel comfortable in their body but that's literally just a human-turned-robot/demon thing... how could he be anything other then a man? They have thought "hey I kinda don't feel like a man" before, like it's occured to him several times, but he always shuts it down. It's kinda like how, while trying to figure out their identity, people will cling to whatever semblance of a connection they feel w/ their agab(like me when I identified as a demigirl in middle school), except x10 because he's from tHE FUCKING 50S-

“Hello, to all of those listening to this. My name is unimportant, and what is lies in what it is that I do. One week ago today, the world was met with a flurry…of cards.“ 

“Every man, woman, non-binary individual, and seemingly sentient soul upon this earth was given what we’ve elected to refer to as ‘Tarrow Cards’, with a title on the front and a single word on its back.”

“Regardless of age, your card appears to have given you a new fascinating ability, most of which the world has never seen before. The world is changing quickly, it seems. No matter your belief on the state of the world before that day, it is now impossible to deny the supernatural state of this landscape we all live within.”

“Over the past ten years, you’ve likely read about the experimental city being built over international waters in the Atlantic Ocean. In this past week, due to the abilities of certain individuals involved, we’re able to now announce the opening of said city, in one month’s time.“ 

“We will require no passports, and no qualifications for citizenship. We have food, shelter, optional employment, and anything else you may wish to find.”

“I’ve been studying these cards, and the changes humanity has gone through very carefully. And I can state now, without a shadow of a doubt…this is a change for the better.”

An announcement that all throughout the world heard. Through the radio, through the papers. You heard or read it. The world is changing. It’s for the better, then…? 

Followed by an announcement that all throughout the world heard, but none remembered.

The voice echoed throughout the world, seemingly without a source, heard both everywhere and nowhere. Somewhere within all that nowhere, this voice reached a room, lit by a single computer monitor. And in that room, something listened.

“WOW! THAT’S A LOTTA WORDS TO SAY, ‘DO NOT TRUST ME, I PROBABLY SMELL!’”

“C'MON, ‘MY NAME IS UNIMPORTANT,’ ‘NO QUALIFICATIONS FOR CITIZENSHIP,’ ‘FREE FOOD,’ LIKE HELLO? RED FLAG? THAT’S SOME MONDO SUSPICIOUS SHIT.”

One Week: Brand New Life is a discord based 20+ Danganronpa OC roleplay, featuring discord submission trials and an active, plot-relevant deadzone, allowing dead characters to continue to freely interact with the living if they wish. Our cast will be exploring their recently developed powers in an ever expanding city over international waters that you yourself will help define and build. Twenty characters from across the world will get to experience a unique, extended prologue that will cover one year of in-game time, before the actual MKG begins. We aim to bring you a potentially lighter, relaxed environment, both in and out of character; while still being following the typical killing game formula.

The game will feature a flexible 4 to 5 week schedule over 5 chapters, as well as a prologue and endgame, with trials that last several days to accommodate varying timezones and schedules. Our trial system will be submission-based over discord, allowing players to submit their trial posts directly to the server’s trial channel, while still managing a flexible queue. The game will allow for supernatural, alien, robotic, and fantastical characters, as well as normal humans - although no matter your character’s initial status, everyone will be experiencing a new power set, to spread the love! The game will not feature a mistrial system, but will pledge itself into working dutifully with its murder teams to create cases that are both satisfyingly difficult, as well as ultimately solvable, without pushing cast nor killer unnecessarily far.  APPS OPEN / APPS CLOSE 3/10!
