Obviously no pressure to post this, but wanted to offer a resource/action-item for the like-minded, since your politically-adjacent posts get a bit more reach. And this seems as good a time as any?

The group is called VoteRiders, and I volunteer for them. We help people (for free) to get the identity documents needed to vote. If you live in a state with voter ID laws (or it's your first time voting in a federal elelction) and you don't have a photo ID, they'll help. If that means getting your birth certificate from out of state, or a social security card, getting you a ride to the DMV, paying the document fees, etc. They can (usually) help with name change documents, if you got married or transitioned. Maybe you just have questions about voter ID in your state, or are confused about how to get your absentee ballot. We have a phone number you can call OR: you can text! Facebook message us! There is a chatbot that will get some info until a volunteer logs on! You don't need to talk to a human person. You can access the chatbot/insta messenger on voteriders.org, or call/text 866-ID-2-VOTE (8664328683).

The other reason I'm promoting this: obviously you can volunteer in the usual ways (being the person helping/answering questions). But if you want to get involved and you have anxiety, there are ways you can volunteer that don't/barely involve talking to a live person! You could answer the FB messages/chatbot, where you say "let me look that up for you" if you need more time (the drawback: you have to get comfortable clicking around secretary of state websites). OR: they have letter writing campaigns! They send you a document with the voter ID laws for a certain state printed on it, and you write a little personal message about why you think it's important for people to vote (drawback: finding a place to print (i use the library) and you have to provide your own envelopes/stamps).

Anyway, i just wanted to offer options for people who both need help and want to help. A few ways to feel in control of our destiny.

This sounds like an excellent resource and I am happy to boost it. So yes, for anyone who is feeling freaked out by the media kerfuffle/terrible SCOTUS immunity decision, here is something you can do to make important change in an easy way, and doesn't even require you to interact with people directly! Hi friends!

I recently saw the cover of this book posted to a group on FB, with a LOT of vitriol aimed at it there. I ambled over to the Amazon page to see it (and have a look through the reviews) and it's LARGELY reviews by bigots (as I suspected it would be). I just spent half an hour going down the list reporting inauthentic and/or hateful and/or off-topic (not about the product) reviews, and ticking the "helpful" box on the 5-star kind reviews (and as a warning, not all the 5 stars ARE kind, I saw at least one that was vitriolic sarcasm).

If you have a few spare minutes and an amazon account, it would be nice, I think, if you could pop over and select "helpful" for the kinder reviews. I don't think reporting the bad ones a second time will be helpful (it may just slog the queue down), but boosting the positive reviews to appear toward the top of the list may be. If you have purchased/read/otherwise own or will own this book now, feel free to leave an authentic review of it. Be kind, do not get yourself in trouble trying to be mean to other reviews. The point is to add some support to the page that will actually stick around.

Okay, I am NOT going to reblog the OP because I’m not going to directly boost engagement for this, but this “article” about the supposed parallels between The Sandman and Tales from the Flat Earth is currently floating around in the tags:

Please do NOT take this at face value. I strongly suspect someone clobbered this together with the help of AI, because most of it makes no sense whatsoever:

Half of the characters and story beats mentioned don’t even exist while important stuff is totally missing. Some of it is hilariously wrong as well: Sivesh is a boy/man, not a woman.

It’s honestly comically bad if you actually know Tales from the Flat Earth.

Since there are affiliate links at the bottom of it, it looks as if someone who has never read Tales from the Flat Earth spotted a business opportunity and quickly jumped on the bandwagon.

As someone who actually read both and thinks Matthew Boroson’s FB post is a bad faith piece that’s often factually wrong, or at least very embellished, I can only say: This is not it.

I’m currently sitting on a post to dig into what’s been said in that post and why it doesn’t really hold water if you do an actual comparison, but this is even worse than Boroson.

Ableism but make it leftist

Maybe I'll think of a catchier title later but rn I need to talk about this before I boil away with rage.

Context: someone in my local queer community FB group asked for volunteer opportunities. They expressed particular interest in working with the elderly or "people who need the most help". There were only a couple suggestions when I saw the post so I added mine, that there's several underserved young (younger than elderly anyway) queer people in our community who are severely disabled and housebound. I'm one of them though I didn't mention it but the Leftist Bully knows this.

Another disabled group member I've interacted with before thanked me for bringing this up and I felt good about it until a couple days later when I got a new notification. LB, as I'll call them, was smugly concerned that we (me and my Disabled Acquaintance) were taking resources from queer elders.

Point #1. We weren't using any resources, we were just expressing a community need to someone who asked who in the community has needs...

LB continued that there are "so many" resources we could be using instead which is news to me! They then made a point to tag both me and DA and tell us that "if we're so lonely why don't we just meet up with seniors". I considered going over point by point why they were being ignorant at best but I decided to save my energy and politely asked them not to speak so condescendingly about topics they aren't familiar with. Cue the laugh react. So we're not even pretending to care anymore, great.

They respond with a lengthy paragraph about how they are qualified to determine who gets resources or not because of all the organizing they do. They insisted again that there are other resources, and pay attention to this, "for young queers". Dude... There sure are resources for young queers but

Point #2. THAT'S NOT WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOU CHUCKLEFUCK. We were specifically talking about housebound queer people who aren't old enough for social security resources.

Point #3. You can't cry tone policing when you were the one who butted into a conversation to "correct" someone over what was allegedly a resource management dispute. I mean apparently you can and they did but it's pretty ridiculous

Re: citing their community organizing record and heavily implied that DA and I are not contributing to the same degree

Point #4a. DA and I are both very active in disability organizing. We both run pages/groups for raising awareness and connecting people to resources as well as one on one assisting people.

4b. We're both severely disabled and housebound, that kind of gets in the way of a lot of activism. I used to do a lot more when my health was better.

4c. Leftists like to talk big, "your productivity doesn't define your worth" until someone isn't able to do whatever type of labor that supposedly makes people respectable.

Point #5. Concern trolling. If they really cared they would have kindly directed me to some concrete resources instead of lecturing me to shut up

Point #6. They didn't have a problem with the person who brought up volunteering at the animal shelter.

Point #7. LB requests rides from the community on a weekly basis. The community rallied around them when they lost their home to a fire last year. They are absolutely in their right to do this! It's just telling how it's ok for them to ask for help. And to top it off I've been consistently signal boosting them and recommending their freelance services, expending my limited resources to help them. I thought we were becoming friends.

I am due on and having period pain... someone called me today just to complain about their circumstances and I told them 'that's not my fault' bc literally... it's not. I think its come to a point where I have to clarify a few things.

To start with , to everyone who reached out , thank you I am doing ok, I am just busy, I have a lot of work related travel in the next two weeks and I am preparing for my deadlines and dealing with real life . I promise I am fine.

As far as people who have doxxed me and have put my username on display subjecting me to bullying and harassment, the irony of the entire thing is not lost to me .

The fact that Elriels accused me of threatening to subject someone to harassment, when I specifically did not mention any username or individual .... while simultaneously displaying my username not only on several public FB groups which I have SS of, but also in several posts on both Tumblr and Twitter is baffling . Don't they see that they literally did what they accused me of "wanting" to do?

Who is the only one who is being subject to harassment and bullying ? Me and somehow I am the person who is in the wrong here ?

Now , coming to the part of character assassination, this isn't about fictional characters or books anymore , these people have written horrible things about me as a person ... twisted something I said on a post which most certainly wasn't said in a serious manner its dumb to think it was ( How would someone force someone to write an English exam ? The entire thing was exaggerated and ridiculous) and have called me different things varying from a Psychotic bitch to a creepy person aka defamation thereby posing a threat to my emotional and mental well-being.

I have been in this fandom long enough and I have interacted with enough people that it should atleast give most people that I have interacted with a general idea of what I really am like.

I have mostly kept well away from Elriels , I don't engage with them in any manner if I can avoid it and I have gone ahead and blocked as many of them and their tags. So , I clearly have no intention of interacting with them irrespective of whether they are decent people or not , I simply don't see the necessity and its not my preference. This is the reason most of my interactions usually revolve around Gwynriels and they are the only ones I usually address even in my posts.

I am a part of this fandom for myself and I commission art because I like the creative aspect of it and I love interacting and supporting artists. This much everybody knows about me.

The locus of my identity is internal to me and my circle of validation is a total sum of 2 people - My husband and my child.

So for anyone who thinks they can bully me into going away from the fandom by twisting things and saying mean things about me... you are really wrong.

I honestly wasn't feeling right about BB milking the ship war and preying on vulnerable people while also not lending their support to artists who are integral to the fandom... which is why , I literally stated 2 days back that I would be stepping back from the SJM fandom till we have news on the next book.

But .....

If this is the sort of shit people try to pull with me then it's not about BB anymore, My priority now is bullies in the fandom. My priority is people who thought they could manipulate my people against me.....

daily notes - april 18-19, 2025

I'm at the phase in my cycle where tonight (Friday night) is when I usually have a depressive phase. That and reading friends' reactions to a political press release*, it makes sense that I've sought out happy things today. I spent the afternoon and evening enjoying audio and music stims. (Discussion for that is under the cut.)

Monday and today, I drove the truck and the car (respectively) between the auto shop and home. I hadn't driven since November (same route), so I struggled with distractions on Monday. Today, I did much better, though that was also due to limiting sensory nonsense.

Main takeaway: I'm still hanging in here, riding out the waves. Mostly positive, working to stay calm.

This afternoon, I laid in bed and listened to nsfw "ASMR" videos, which was... enlightening. (Not reeaally ASMR, though I did get chills and tingles, haha. It's voice actors doing dialogue, rather than tapping or the usual stuff.) Some of it was cheesy, some of it cute, some of it breathtaking. Found a couple voice actors I really liked. One man had quite the range from highs to lows, though I don't think that scenario was... acting. *cough* (I am not immune to smut.)

I'm already picky about the regular ASMR videos I listen to, with what sounds are squick and which ones give shivers. For the nsfw audio, I had more issues with accents and tone, rather than whether the acting was good or not. Someone was too playful and flippant; another was too youthful; many just made me laugh.

I almost started exploring the F4F videos (with femme voices), but I realized that'd be even tougher for me. With men's voices, I have a better idea of what I like.

There was one actor who reminded me of someone I sometimes hear on a podcast. Podcast-person's tone is more flat, but he has mentioned doing some voice acting work, separate from the podcast.

Also, I think some of these guys boost the bass for these audio productions. It feels a bit unfair, since it made me feel weak. (I also love heavy bass in music and in ASMR.) My god, they're almost purring with those voices, sometimes. Well, there was one who actually DID purr, which was cute but distracting. I'm glad the ones without American accents weren't appealing, or I might have melted into a puddle.

So uh, yeah. Voice kink. I knew I was weak to certain voices, but damn (positive). ================

After dinner, I ended up listening to Sleep Token's music. I started with their latest songs, from the upcoming album. Then I got on a playlist with all of their music, including instrumentals.

I was a couple hours into the list when I realized how self-soothing it was to seek out this band tonight. It wasn't really a conscious choice, though I am trying to be more conscious of sensory coping-techniques lately. Their music feels comfortable, like worn-in clothing, yet I can still pick out nuance and detail sometimes.

When I had first listened to them in 2022, I was using my BOSE corded headphones. I'm currently using JBL bluetooth ones, and I've been noting the difference in sound quality. Even listening through my phone versus through my computer (same headphones) makes for an interesting difference. ==========

*I purposely live under a rock, hiding from current events and news reports as best I can. In this case, 2 friends on FB posted reactions to the RFK-vs-autism thing of late. I'm not letting myself consciously process things; it's not worth getting upset over, at this point. Especially when I'm already in a precarious situation.

first up, MC and kane are sent to a private sleepover as her prize. what was the point of this ?😭 i mean, i do see the appeal, but they might as well have opened the hideaway again (and wlw players could actually spend time with their LI, not the guy they’re forced to be with 😒)

during the sleepover we also have to choose one person from each couple to be tested. i don’t think it actually matters but i chose anna, jace, reid, kenzo, and sonya. my rationale was just picking the messiest person in each couple (side note: i wish LIs had their own thoughts on these kinds of situations, like in season 2. kane just went with whatever MC said. the only time LIs have differing opinions nowadays is *holding the opposite view of MC* for some cheap “i don’t think we’re compatible!” drama 😭)

we return to the villa & have to talk to the girls separately. apparently zac and anna just left ?? these past few seasons have had issues with important events happening off-screen. however, it seems FB’s new thing ("thing" as a shorthand for “last minute bullshit to wrap up the plot because they’re using AI to write this drivel”) is that MC is never able to get proper revenge on those who've wronged her because they’re just dumped off-screen, e.g. sofia and tristan. i miss when LITG had competent writers. imagine if cherrygate and operation nope were off-screen events you had to pay to learn about

anyways, RIP zac, what a waste of a sprite. his dino themed clothing was so cute

it all kicked off because sonya was trying to flirt with kenzo. dominic didn’t GAF because he’s still obsessed with MC (can we talk about this season’s issue with boundaries and consent ⁉️ i won’t get into it right now, but maybe in my overall season post)

next up is some love in the fast lane challenge. im not even gonna question how dominic knows all of MC’s answers. (my fav ice cream is mint but shout out to kenzo for the basil & lychee flavour. it’s unfortunate that one of the few guys i’d actually vibe with in this game isn’t an LI)

what was the point in having a diamond scene to motivate our partner/boost our chances at winning, only to have a second diamond scene, aptly named “cheat to win,” to actually win. 😭 at least they’re self aware, i guess

i chose to spend time with ruby in the diamond scene ! we talked about our hypothetical dream wedding (her dream wedding is at the beach, if you choose the beach for your honeymoon she mentions how it ties in with her dream. very cute) somehow MC and ruby pulled the ingredients for their hypothetical wedding cupcakes out of the ether

i think the whole reid letter thing is adorable…if you aren’t romancing ruby 😭 we can’t even tell him to back off. it felt like FB remembered she’s our LI at the last second and threw in that “i could be friends with this guy, and not want to block his number” line. so yeah, this was annoying as hell for me, but i like his character development. (if only FB put this effort into our partners. i feel like i learned more about reid in that scene than i have about kane and ruby in this entire season…)

all this discussion about weddings has me thinking that jace/esme will upstage MC with an actual proposal at the finale 😭 (unless there’s gonna be a wedding spinoff, but among all the recent seasons, this one definitely does not deserve it)

esme has us play some bowl game. i actually ship reid and dominic. (maybe one day i'll churn out some fan art) anyways, dom and sonya win for having the exact same answer. nobody acknowledges that MC and ruby’s answers were very similar (outdoor wedding & forest wedding…i would complain about how that conflicts with what ruby said in the kitchen scene, but to be fair, maritime forests are a thing !)

that whole fake wedding thing was odd...and the fact that it was happening to the objectively worst couple in the villa made it even more strange. i did object “just to be funny.“ i was actually a little bit jealous, heavy emphasis on little bit. dominic leaves sonya at the fake altar to confess his feelings for MC, ruby and kane end up confessing to MC as well. i’d just like to point out how the LI convo with esme didn’t lock us out of dominic’s route, but it locked us out of maisie’s 🙄🙄🙄

MC makes a gesture in the treehouse for ruby, but i was staring at the scroll on the bed the whole time 😭 unfortunately my laziness means i can’t show a screenshot of what i’m talking about, but i was like, “is that kane’s map ??”

final recoupling time…except not really, because it’s a cliffhanger 😭 first of all, the fact that we only have 2 or 3 options is absurd. even EX IN THE VILLA had more love interests. considering that we’re going second, there’s literally no reason we shouldn’t be able to choose anyone besides jace (let me remind you of the most hilarious route in season 2, where you can couple up with ibrahim after he asked jo to be his girlfriend)

overall…thank goodness this is almost over, because this is genuinely the worst season i’ve ever played. the only aspect in which it's better than s5 is that MC isn’t constantly a punching bag. 🫠

everything else, from the harassment, to the delusional rivals, to the poor LGBT rep, to the villainised black women, to the half assed attempt at suresh 2.0, to the unresolved plotlines, to the lack of love interests on love island, to the fact that we, the MAIN CHARACTER, are completely sidelined, makes this 100% worse than ex in the villa
