you stared back at the text on the screen. the words in the bubble staring right back at you.

happy birthday and all that.

there was a line of texts following but your eyes were only on that one.

you didn’t even know he knew it was your birthday. you didn’t even know he had your number. and if it hadn’t been for the unnecessary adding of the name— extra— at the end (which you ignored among the other names he included in his mass of messages) you probably wouldn’t have known it was him. there was only one person who said that.

it very much bakugou katsuki.

your eyes couldn’t look anywhere else but the screen. your fingers gripping the phone just a little more as if to make sure it was actually there and that the text you were seeing— was real.

you guys barely spoke. probably because he wasn’t the most approachable, a permanent glare always held on his face. and the times you had spoken, the words exchanged were always short and in some a lot of instances, you were told off. it was expected with bakugou.

but this— this text was not expected.

happy birthday and all that.

it had been the first birthday text you got.

your finger slid over the bubble before tapping and sending a thank you! (a message that despite how quick it was to type out, was not as quick when it came to trying to think of what to say back)

you put your phone facing down and stuffed your face in your hands. something unknown to you, that bakugou had done right after he sent you the very message you were squealing over.

when he got the text back, his throat bobbed as he stared at the words. the last one in the bubble causing his ears to tint.

thank you katsuki!

bakugou katsuki told himself he could care less. he told himself it was just a fucking birthday. but it was your birthday. and it was that exact thing that kept him up so he could send the damn message.

and you called him katsuki. not bakugou. but katsuki.

yeah, bakugou katsuki could care less about it all.

was talking with a friend about how some of dunmeshi fаndom misunderstands kabru's initial feelings towards laios.

to sum up kabru's situation via a self-contained modernized metaphor:

Jason’s met and memorized every facet of Bruce Wayne. He knows Bruce by the way his eyes melt when he looks at him, to the hard lines of his cowl. He knows where Bruce starts and Batman ends.

When Bruce rips off his cowl to give her the deepest glare Jason’s ever seen, he’s reminded there’s no difference. Fear hits his stomach when he swallows,

“Hey, old man, don’t fucking blame HER. She has NO obligation to you—“

Bruce’s eyes are unblinking, wide, jumping from her frozen form to him. And Jason’s suddenly 10 again, running from hungry stray dogs cornering him in a place with no exit.

Bruce’s voice is shadow and whisper, “Quiet.”

“…Okay.”

“Damian,” he rasps, pointing at the small figure with dark hair and green eyes, who looks at neither of them. He looks at Talia. Jason thinks it’s fair. He’s never seen her scared, either. “Car. Cave. Stay. “

There’s something incredibly bitter in Jason when he just does. Doesn’t ask. Doesn’t rebel. He wants to, with every fiber and matter and crumb in his body. And his body says no.

He grabs Damian like he’s an angry cat, not the small assassin he knew since he was born. He doesn’t look back. He doesn’t want to, he realizes.

“Did you know?” Bruce asks, such a deadly calm to him, too calm for the winter in his eyes. Talia would’ve preferred a blade to the neck.

She can’t meet his eye. Almost like if she doesn’t face his hatred, his disapproval, his disappointment, it doesn’t count. “I did. “

“…Whatever you do,” she’d take it as pity if he didn’t sound repulsed , “you’re still his daughter.”

I’m really enamored with the dynamic of two characters who work perfectly in tandem, like pacific rim drift compatible level, but they don’t like each other. It’s not even as strong an emotion as hate it’s just a very neutral-negative dislike, but they still act in perfect concert and their individual abilities are fully complementary

i love being late to trends. my new years resolution is to be late to every trend ever. and you know im serious because im even late to new years.

mydei having a library is absolutely heartbreaking symbolism. it's a running gag that the kremnoan language doesn't have many words; there's no word for flee, no word for fear, even no word for love. i know the library was his family's, but still -- it is such a distinct symbol of how mydei wants to break kremnoan tradition. how he openly rejects the idea that violence is the only valid form of communication. how he always dismisses the baseless rumours surrounding his abilities, proving that he values truth over glory. we see mydei try to talk his people into reason. we see him apologize to tribbie for being rude. we even see him (begrudgingly) admit to phainon that he knows how to interpret poetry. time and time again, mydei chooses language -- and truth -- over violence. so when he invites phainon to visit his library in the next life, he's not just expressing hope -- he's asking phainon to remember him by what he really believes in. even if i become the avatar of strife, he's saying, even if you have to kill me one day -- in the next life, please see me as the person i've tried to become.

mydei knows the power of a name, perhaps because his language has so few of them. and that makes it doubly ironic that he personally has so many titles: son of gorgo. the patricidal crown prince. kingslayer. godslayer. the undying. but as krateros points out, the name he prefers is the one he uses with the chrysos heirs. and although mydei doesn't talk much, all his actions seem to say the same thing.

remember me as mydei, not mydeimos.
