this is killing me because i'm still sad about Cassandra but also, i don't know if Matt realized it or not, but Percy/Taliesin has a tendency to make puns so that last part kind of implies it runs in the family

I imagine Father’s Day and Mother’s Day for the de Rolo siblings to be a rather complicated affair. On Percy’s side, he has children and a family to celebrate with, every morning he is reminded that he is a father, a father like his father, and will continue to be like that until he passes.

Cassandra on the other hand lacks that family to distract her, she is no mother, and there is no father to turn the attention to. All she is left with are the memories of their parents, their symbolical graves, pieces of portraits she clung onto since she was a child. There’s also this piece of her that, because she was with Sylas and Delilah for so long, began to almost see Delilah as a mother-like figure, despite her cruelty. There’s the Stockholm Syndrome she likely went through, how Delilah nursed her back to health after ripley drove that arrow through her chest and her own brother abandoned her. For her, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day isn’t just about her grief, it’s about her failures too.

I'm aware this is part of the trend of snarky, snappy dialogue we see for banter on the american television. But I like that it's also Cassandra's little sister instinct shining through - every time we see her in season 3 she's being a leader, a lady, someone who deserves to be at the discussion table; and that's all well and good. Except whenever she's one on one with Percy she's smart mouthing him, being snarky and lovingly annoying him, lol. I think that goes to show how she leans on her big brother, and does so in a way that brings out a more comfortable and youthful side of her. As much as the De Rolos are not huggers, he was clearly all the family she had left :(((

Consider that until Percy had children, the weight of their bloodline rested on Cassandra’s shoulders. Of course it wasn’t for long, but it was long enough that it was probably running through her head. Of course it is shown in campaign that she doesn’t end up having children or settling down with a partner, but what would happen if Percy didn’t have children? What if Percy did end up taking his own life?

Imagine being 18-20 and having to deal with the weight of your entire bloodline dying out.

I don’t believe she wants children, but I think it was likely ground into her from a young age that furthering their family was important. And who wouldn’t sacrifice their own life for the future of others?
