Fave moments in comics part whatever
Bruce Wayne telling Cassandra Cain that she isn't broken... then hugging her! ❤ Bruce always knew she was never a monster because he faced them every day. This backstory is so heart breaking. Cassie was never allowed affection or positive affirmation and Bruce can tell exactly what she needs.

[Jason and Steph hanging out at Jay's apartment]
Jason: So you and Tim are like, done, right?
Steph: Oh yeah, it's definitely over. It was pretty mutual, too.
Jason: Oh, thank God. I didn't wanna say it, but it was a bit annoying whenever I invited you over, and you dragged Tim with you.
Steph: yeahhh sorry about that
Jason: It's just nice spending quality time without the rest of the bats butting in. I already have enough to deal with whenever I visit the manor.
Steph: Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore. I'm gonna be 100% batboy/Robin-free from now on!

Hey full offense but if your excuse for not including Duke as Bruce's son and in Batkids/Batboys/Robins lineups is 'he already has parents' and you 'don't want to erase them',maybe you should consider Duke's parents literally can't take care of him and that you can have multiple parental figures.......and that Bruce and Duke have literally refered to eachother as father and son in the comics and even official arts frame them that way too.Duke was bullied all the time, kicked out of multiple schools, had a hard time making friends and keeping them too,was targeted by the cops AS A MINOR(which he still is!!!!),lost his parents or rather his parents lost their sanity to The Joker and now he's expected to self-rely when older and less good people were given more grace and care than him.I think y'all should drop the respectability politics and just let the black kid have a dad💀If DC stands for 'Disregard Canon',then DC also stands for 'Duke Counts'

Just a little something that popped into my head and I wish someone wrote this.
Can you imagine Jason reaching out to Tim after the Bruce lost in time shenanigans?
Sincerely apologizing and talking about all the shit he did to Tim and them slowly but surely becoming partners?
Jason slowly connecting the puzzle pieces and not liking what he concludes.
1. Constant degradation/verbal abuse from Damian.
2. Bruce never contacting Tim except for case work/Wayne Enterprise.
3. Dick getting hissing mad whenever Tim tries to defend himself against Damian.
4. Alfred not doing *anything* about all of the above.
So he confronts tim and learns about the shit hand he has been dealt with.
This leads to both Jason and Tim making a deal and going to therapy.
Slowly but surely Red Robin is stopping working with the bats and spending his time with Jason in Gotham or outside of Gotham with his team who are very happy to see him taking care of himself.
Kate/barbara/steph/cass see all of this happen and decide to not interfere as their relationships with Tim are stronger as ever and they are happy for him. This also leads to way more teamups between the birds of prey/batwoman and Jason and Tim.
Maybe as a cherry on top, the rest of the Batman only noticing his glaring absence when it literally slaps them in the face and it being a realistic slowburn for fixing their relationships.
So yeah, I wish I could write but ohh well, daydreaming is awesome too.

So much could be said about the depiction of mental illness (and chronic psychophobia and ableism in dc) but here are the sparknotes:
ACCORDING TO DC!!!:
> Some people (not all!) are born with a genetic factor which we will call gene X. Gene X has two possible variants: evil potential and hero potential. The X gene is dormant, and will only activate when environmental factors brutally shake the neural system, aka in highly traumatic situations. A person with the hero variant, upon being traumatized, may trigger a biopsychosocial chain reaction that will lead to them dressing up in unusual costumes and fighting crime, while a person with the villain variant, in the same situation, may go from a normal person to a crazy mass murderer in the laps of a day.
> The presence of the evil factor has been shown to be correlated with poverty, ethnicity (higher prevalence in non-caucasian populations), queer identity/sexuality, amongst other factors (which could mean nothing). Please note that this is not a causation, as traumatized people with these characters can still be bearers of the hero factor.
> Some researchers have theorised that the nature of trauma may play a role (though results are not yet conclusive across all data). Specifically, being upset/not able to get over trauma that hurt us specifically is associated with an increased risk of becoming a crazy evil mass murderer, while trauma associated with grief/watching other people get hurt is associated with heroism. This is probably because of the inherent weakness of getting hurt and selfishness of being upset about it, VS the inherent nobility of being upset about other people, especially your loved ones, getting hurt. Furthermore, amidst people who have trauma happen directly to their person, the evil and hero variants allow us to distinguish between two cohorts: the hero variants, who will either not complain about their trauma nor mention it or get over it in a manner that doesn't upset the established system too much, and the bad victims, who challenge the system that allowed them to get hurt instead of understanding that it was their fault, actually; these people also happen to be crazy murderers, so it's fine.
>A correlation has been shown between bearers of the X gene and a higher occurrence of trauma. In bearers of the evil variant, this is known as the "doomed from the start" effect, or "natural born killers".
>In extreme situations, there exists a risk of contamination from the evil variant: specifically, if someone with the X gene kills a particularly intense and virulant evil crazy mass murderer, this crazy murderer may release spores that will contaminate the killer's cells and turn their hero variant into an evil variant and activate it.
In conclusion: please talk to actual therapists and trauma specialists before writing about trauma and psychological disorders before your world building begins to look like that. And no, reading Freud does not count. (You should have stayed in school, Scotty.)

honestly, reading aus where dick has to become batman and one of his siblings becomes nightwing pisses me tf off bc dick grayson was never meant to stay in gotham forever. it's not who he is. he's not a gotham kid. he grew up there for 8-10 years, and yeah its his home because bruce-alfred-jason-tim-damian-steph-cass-duke but that's the manor.
in my eyes, dick grayson being forced to stay as batman, long term, stuck in gotham while one of his siblings just stays in bludhaven? doesn't have the oppressing shadow that dick just keeps getting dragged back to honestly feels disrespectful to who dick wanted to be. i'm sure dick would love for his siblings to be nightwing if he dies but making every position dick has ever had be a mantle to be passed on is just-
no.
dick grayson's meant to be nightwing, the free spirit that comes with him having his own city, because gotham isn't meant to be the end of dick grayson's story, and his siblings just taking his position in bludhaven like they'd be able to fill that role easily is laughable.
if they're free to be nightwing they should be able to be batman and for some reason they aren't, and dick grayson has to keep returning to the cowl he doesn't want.
i can't describe how i feel when i read fics like this, just some terrible sadness for dick, especially when people write it like dick is just fine with being batman and his siblings treating nightwing like a mantle, like something they can just take, like bludhaven wasn't his city, like he didn't do everything for it, and treating nightwing like something they can just take. like something they can easily fit into.
i dont think any of the batsiblings can be nightwing, and writing it like people dont notice the difference is honestly laughable.
i read a fic where jason todd is nightwing, and honestly, if bro has to go to bludhaven he can easily choose a different name. IT IS NOT THAT HARD GUYS? it is NOT that complicated to choose a new identity name like babes... nightwing is NOT A MANTLE, and i dont think it every will be.
dick grayson is nightwing. full stop. only him.
and besides, i feel like only two of the siblings really should be in bludhaven, and thats cass and dick. cass didnt get any time at all before chemo happened, which is depressing af but dick put his heart and soul into helping that city and just straight up giving it to one of his siblings like he hasn't worked to protect it for so long? i honestly dont believe any of the other batsiblings would care even a little bit about bludhaven.

Twitter's negativity towards Harper Row is very odd, lol.
Like the amount of time I've spent on that hellsite and have seen people just drag her through the mud for no reason.
She's a relatively harmless character.
I especially hate when actual Cass fans hate on her too, like that's her second girlfriend after Steph, fuck off.

Duke Thomas really gets talked about like he's some irrelevant one-off side character and a generic black best friend and not one of the most unique Batkids who embodies the Robin mantle(the light of Gotham)as well as Dick Grayson himself does and was the only person able to being Jason Todd back to the Batfam without even meaning to and has some of the most autistic tboy swag ever and more material as a main Batkid than just an 'honorary' one and everyone wrapped around his finger be so fr

”Please Don’t Leave Me”
A little Cass and Steph thing because Stephanie’s Robin run was interesting and it breaks my heart that Stephanie did the same thing the boys did but got into trouble for it because Bruce saw another Jason and didn’t have the patience to help her like he should’ve. (He kinda just yeeted her off to Barbara which might’ve been a good thing considering how most of the kids he directly had an influence on turned out).
Cassandra Cain-Wayne was a dancer; lithe, precise, silent. She was also Batgirl. Stephanie Brown was Spoiler; intentional, confident, clever. Now she was Robin. Cassandra tried to tell herself it suited her friend. Her lovely, loud, bright best friend (her first friend). But she couldn’t convince herself of it. Not really.Spoiler had always run with Batgirl; next to her, near her, behind on a bad day, and ahead of her on occasion, but she always returned to her side. Or at least looked back. Robin ran ahead of her, always. Robin did not look back, not like Spoiler had. Spoiler had always checked in with Batgirl (when she realized she was there) and helped her practice speech, laughed with her—never at her—and paid far more attention to her than she really should’ve. It had made Cassandra feel special. For herself. Not her abilities or accomplishments.—————————————————————————————————Batgirl watched as Spoiler Robin ran. She ran ahead of Batgirl, not once looking back as if she regretted anything at all. Spoiler had no regrets either. But Robin regretted nothing simply because she didn’t have time for it, Spoiler regretted nothing because she understood that she had done what she could and she was doing things to change what she hadn’t. “C’mon Batgirl! Keep up!” Robin shouted, not looking back to acknowledge that she had been heard, she was just a red-green-yellow blur in the distance. She sounded so happy… Cassandra knew what those colors meant to Stephanie. But she also knew what they meant. The first Robin had flown the nest, he had survived enough to become the colorful blue bird, full of spite and scars and love. The second was not so lucky, he was six feet under and his loss had broken the bats that had known him. The third was forced to give up his position. He wasn’t always trustworthy to Cassandra and she hadn’t always liked him, but he was still family, he should’ve been theirs, not whatever he was now. What would happen to Stephanie? Would she die and break them all? Be forced away from this life? Or would she survive? Survive and leave them all behind to grow up into something new and and clever and scarred and lovely? “Please don’t leave me behind.” Cassandra spoke into empty air that night. They were her first words all week. Robin hadn’t heard. She was too far ahead. But Spoiler would’ve. Spoiler would’ve stayed by her side.
