Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 1 + 172 + Anime Episode 80

Another parallel! Due to technological and worldbuilding differences. 

On Earth. Lucy is fascinated by the idea of Ability-type magic, because you can’t buy that in a shop! That’s so cool, isn’t it?

While on Edolas, the idea of people just naturally having magic doesn’t quite make sense to Lucy, because Holder-type is all they’ve got. 

There’s also only one magic shop in this town, though, for darkly different reasons. There’s little people buying them either way, but they both acknowledge that travellers need them. 

The anime takes it one step further by making the shopkeeper this familiar old man. 

And you know the most important thing? The total both comes up to 20,000J. Lucy couldn’t even haggle a 5% discount in Earthland, the storekeeper in Edolas unhesitatingly gives her a cut down to 18,000J. Then when he finds out they don’t have money, he gives it to them free of charge!

That is a cool parallel to show us just how different Lucy is, down to the way she has influence, a good reputation, and a name that people love and admire enough to give free service to. 

It’s a contrast to our poor Lucy who keeps getting snubbed by Jason. 

Anyways, big win for the anime!!!

❗️SCHOOL BUS GRAVEYARD SPOILERS EP80❗️

I feel like no-ones been talking about this moment and how much it shows Tyler’s growth. Like especially if you compare it with the the earlier episodes where he was the first to blame Ash for problems:

No wonder most of the group thought he was the asshole because he literally DID act like one, which now we know is due to him being closed off and very overprotective of his family (who he only used to care for).

And I love how we’ve seen in real time (thanks to Red’s brilliant writing) how much these guys have grown on each other, like not only are they a team but they’re genuine friends and are all people who have never really had intimidate friendships because due to either being loners, horrible in social situations or just closed off. And like now they’ve come to think of each other as family.

His way of comforting people is also intentionally aggressive which is most likely an attempt to keep his whole ‘nonchalant’ façade but the words itself have such reassurance, they’re firm and grounding with no room for debate. The way he behaves is silly and childish sometimes yes, but thats because it’s the first time he’s been allowed to behave that way after being a carer for so long (I don’t think he was the only carer btw but that’s a whole other thing).

one of my most immediate post-200 thoughts was how much tma has. improved? [extended sounds of brutal pipe murder] from ep80 is iconic but to be honest moreso for the phrasing i always felt the scene itself coulda had more oomph soundwise. THE MURDERS IN MAG200 WERE PROPERLY BRUTAL SHOUTOUT TO WHATEVER THE FUCK THEY MADE BEN MEREDITH DO WITH HIS MOUTH THERE BECAUSE IT WAS DISGUSTING. 10/10

Assuming episode 83 is going to be an amethio solo mission type of episode, I wonder if we’ll get to hear his inner thoughts? In the series so far we’ve only been allowed into Liko’s thoughts and briefly Roy’s in episode 67. We have had A plots before that don’t centre on Liko and she isn’t there to observe it (friede in ep54, Sango in ep80) but if this episode is going to pull away from rvt for the majority of it I think there could be a chance we’ll actually get Amethio as a narrator for the episode? It’d be really interesting to get a peak inside his head, there’s been multiple instances in the show where he’s paused in thought so it’d be nice to get an episode where we actually get to hear said thoughts.

I’m also very curious as to what the truth being revealed will be. My first thought was his ancestral connections with Liko, but I think that’ll probably come in ep85 because amethio and liko have had a pattern of getting closer every 20 episodes. So if it’s not that, I think it’ll probably be about the rakruium? Amethio was shown to be investigating it in ep78, so maybe he’ll find some sort of lead…an abandoned research facility perhaps?? The only other truth I think it could be referring to is amethio’s backstory, but I don’t think they’ll touch upon that too much in this ep especially if liko isn’t around to hear it. Backstories have only ever been told to liko at this point and i’d be very surprised if she didn’t get to hear his considering she seems interested in understanding him.

If you’ve been following a lot of my writings/theories for amethio this arc you’d know i’m pretty fond of the idea of him and carmine befriending eachother, and if it is going to happen i think it would definitely have to be in this episode. Seeing Briar being brought back for entei has given me higher hopes that Carmine would be brought back for something too as it seems to be the pattern the game characters on the poster are following (Perrin helped with kleavor, Briar is helping with Entei). I’m not entirely sure how she’d help him aside from being a fun character for him to bounce off of, Amethio getting to make a friend whose an outsider to all the explorers and rvt drama just means a lot to me tbh.

Eagerly awaiting the episode regardless. Amethio is long overdue a focus ep like this and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for him!!
