Discovering Math Through Playful Problem Solving
By Ariel Math is everywhere! From ancient pyramids to space travel, numbers shape the world around us. We use math to measure time, construct buildings, and even design video games. This week, my homework was packed with multiplication, division, fractions, patterns, and rounding! But instead of just solving equations, I decided to turn math into an adventure! Alice peeked over my worksheet and…

Harem AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates into one of Bingge’s wives shortly after he returns from the other world. After a brief (and frantic) realization that’s she’s a woman (and always has been, but we’re not getting into that right now), she delves deep into this harem drama she’s been thrust into. It’s not until she comes face to face with Luo Bingge that she realizes just WHICH harem drama she’s living, and immediately sets about making his life as good as she can manage. Oh, harem infighting is causing strain on his containers? Simply nudge Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing into working together to manage the harem. The Northern Desert is hinging on disaster because of clerical neglect? One of her harem sisters has a brother who’s in need of a job, no stress. Luo Binghe’s kids are unruly and there’s no clear successor? She has a college degree and a little sister, teaching a dozen or so demonic children is a breeze! All in the name of giving Luo Binghe the time to find a new wife, of course, one who will disperse with the need for this sprawling harem, and once that happens she’s free to travel and document monsters to her hearts content.
#it’s all fun and games until one of her students calls her ‘mom’#Eventually Luo Binghe comes to realize that he has the time to… relax?#His wives are no longer fighting at every possible convenience mostly due to Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing ruling with an iron fist.#Their fathers and brothers on his council are less pushy less demanding and he hasn’t had to behead anyone in weeks.#Mobei-Jun has sequestered himself in the Northern Desert with the clerk he picked up a month ago#but he doesn’t need to deal with that right now#And… his children are going to school?#sure he had teachers before#the best money could buy#but none of them could get his kids to behave#now they’re… sitting in a full day of lessons#and learning both human AND demonic cultivation??#and politics and etiquette and biology and math and and and#They’re being taught by one of his wives who never gave him a child but treats every brat as if they’re one of her own#And… hey that’s a familiar smile half hidden behind a fan isn’t it?#wit writes#bingqiu#svsss#bingyuan#binggeyuan#trans Shen yuan#I just need to make that my calling card lmao

Math, Algebra, free time activity

In mathematical statements, the word "is" stands in for an equals sign (=).
Recompose this tawdry platitude as an algebraic statement, identifying which elements can be designated as constants, variables, coefficients, operations, etc.
Once you have created a mathematically valid equation, apply graphic design to give it any aesthetic that you feel is appropriate.
#mathematics#middle school#high school#algebra#fun project#free time#do now#sponge activity#teachblr#I saw this written as a car decal on my ride home today and my brain greats just started spinning#by the time i got home I had with half a children's book about:#math is the truest hybrid of science and art#math is rules#math is not made of physical things#but the rules of math can be applied to physical things‚ if you use a little imagination#but that's for another time

Action Park reminds me of another story much like this... The RIPline, the Machine That Kills Children. Behold:
https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1018965087074177024.html
i’ve seen a lot of really messed up images in my time on the internet, weird fetish shit, even a few IRL gore images but nothing. NOTHING evokes such a deep seated, gut wrenching fear in me like this image of the fucking water slide from Action Park with the loop in it

How to Teach Shapes to Kids Ages 4 to 8

Teaching shapes to kids is an important part of early learning. Shapes are everywhere, and learning to recognize and name them helps kids build essential math, problem-solving, and spatial skills. Whether you’re a teacher or a homeschooling parent, this guide will give you practical tips and activities to make learning shapes fun and effective.
Why Learning Shapes Is Important
Math Skills: Recognizing shapes lays the foundation for geometry and math concepts.
Language Development: Kids learn to use descriptive words like “circle,” “square,” and “triangle.”
Observation Skills: Identifying shapes helps kids notice patterns and details in the world around them.
Creativity: Shapes are the building blocks for drawing, art, and design.
Steps to Teach Shapes to Kids
1. Start with Basic Shapes
Focus on simple and common shapes first:
Circle
Square
Triangle
Rectangle
Once kids master these, introduce more complex shapes like ovals, diamonds, and stars.
2. Use Everyday Objects
Point out shapes in daily life, like a round clock, a square window, or a triangular slice of pizza.
Ask questions like, “What shape is the plate?” or “Can you find a rectangle in this room?”
3. Play Digital Games or Watch Educational Videos
There are many apps, videos and online games designed to teach kids about shapes in an interactive way. Here's a video that uses a story to teach kids about shapes.
youtube
4. Create Hands-On Activities
Shape Sorting: Use cut-out shapes or toys and ask kids to group them by type.
Shape Tracing: Give kids worksheets with dotted outlines of shapes to trace.
Shape Collage: Cut out shapes from colored paper and let kids glue them to make pictures.
5. Incorporate Movement
Play games like “Jump on the Shape” where kids jump onto large paper shapes laid on the floor.
Use sidewalk chalk to draw shapes outside and have kids hop from one to another.
6. Use Songs and Rhymes
Kids remember better when learning shapes is fun. Sing songs like “The Shape Song” (“A circle is round, it has no end…”).
Make up your own rhymes about shapes.
7. Introduce Shapes Through Art
Use shape stamps, stencils, or sponges for painting.
Encourage kids to draw simple pictures using shapes (e.g., a house with a square and a triangle).
Practical Suggestions for Homeschooling Parents
1. Set Up a Shape Station
Dedicate a corner of your homeschooling area to shapes. Include puzzles, books, and flashcards.
2. Go on Shape Hunts
Take kids outside for a “shape hunt” where they identify shapes in nature or buildings.
3. Use Multi-Sensory Activities
Use clay or playdough to mold shapes.
Let kids feel textured shapes like sandpaper cutouts.

4. Tie It to Real-Life Skills
Teach shapes through cooking. For example, cut sandwiches into triangles or cookies into circles.
When shopping, point out items like cereal boxes (rectangles) or cans (cylinders).
5. Be Patient and Repetitive
Learning shapes takes time. Repeat activities often to help kids remember.
Engaging Activities for Teachers
Shape of the Day
Focus on one shape each day. Talk about it, find it, and create art with it.
Shape Matching
Use cards with shapes and have kids match them to items in the classroom.
Group Projects
Create a large class mural using shapes.
Play a group game where kids pass a ball and name a shape before passing it.
Storytime
Read books about shapes, such as Mouse Shapes by Ellen Stoll Walsh or Shapes, Shapes, Shapes by Tana Hoban.
