Got a comment about WRF, specifically about it being confusing in terms of lore (as if the reader is meant to know certain things already).

Now I, as the author, know that I'm writing from Sanji's limited POV and that his worldview is small in terms of how absolutely detailed the world of WRF is. The audience isn't supposed to know what he doesn't want to acknowledge or what he himself doesn't know, and he is prone to downplaying things. Or outright lying, because he's an avoidant bitch.

Yet now I wonder if this is the right choice for a story. I wanted the audience to have to interact with the pieces Sanji gives up in order to understand certain things, and to have to make their own assumptions (at least until the truth, or what Sanji believes is the truth is revealed). But if that is lost to the audience and readers are left confused, then does it really matter what my intentions were?
