✧ THEORY: ON ABEL & ADAM'S FAVORITISM ✧
Tumblr media
⚠️ Spoiler Warning: This post contains confirmed canon information from Hazbin Hotel S1, as well as discussion of leaks & narrative implications that may hint at future plot developments. Proceed with caution if you’re avoiding spoilers or unreleased material. Please keep in mind this is all speculative <3
In a nutshell, here is what I’m arguing: Abel is not Adam’s biological son, & his existence reframes everything we understand about Adam’s legacy. If Abel came from Eve & Lucifer, then Adam’s claim to moral authority collapses. Sin came from his line.
It’s been confirmed that Abel was not Adam’s favorite son... that he’s nothing like him, he’s pleasant & ‘is his own rockstar’. In the leaked episode, we see that he’s also soft-spoken, polite, & generally more joyful. In contrast, Adam is a narcissist: vulgar, sexist, fanatical, disgusted by sinners, & fully willing to kill them for sport. He displays a restrained yet persistent fixation on punishment [ I say restrained because I don’t feel he’s as obsessed compared to Lute. ] He doesn’t merely fight sinners: he enjoys it, & he makes that clear to Charlie in S1E1 [ “And for those of us with divine ordainment, Extermination is entertainment!” ].
In the same [ leaked ] episode, Abel shows very little concern over his father’s death. He acknowledges it, makes a cross gesture, & says “Rest in Peace” during Sir Pentious’s trial, but… that’s about it. In contrast, Lute is visibly shaken & furious. Adam’s death is clearly destroying her both mentally & emotionally. When she snaps, “Adam never even fucking liked you!” Abel simply agrees, saying “I know 🥺” before quickly redirecting the conversation to Sir Pentious, showing more interest in how a sinner was redeemed than in processing the loss of his father. Later, he even joins in singing with Emily & Saint Peter during Sir Pentious’s introduction to Heaven, behaving as if nothing is wrong. This boy gives no care about his father's death [ in my opinion ]
It’s worth noting that Abel is formally named the new commander of the Exorcists [ effectively demoting Lute. A decision made by both Emily & Sera since he is seen as more fair, ] & he seems just a little smug when confirming this to her. [ There’s also a brief, strange smirk before he departs, which might support the circulating rumor that he’s “a little shit,” but more on that another time. ] Later, he casually asks for one of Adam’s guitars “to remember him by,” but the tone is so nonchalant, calm & even pleasant, like Adam’s death wasn’t something that affected him in the slightest. [ Lute screams at him to leave, which he does. She performs her song, & when she looks toward the door, she catches Abel watching who looks shocked, likely because, from his perspective, she’s destroyed Adam’s office like a crazy person while singing along with a hallucination. ]
Despite the fact that we don’t have the real Adam around [ seemingly, ] we can tell by Abel’s behavior & general attitude that their relationship was strained to some degree. There’s no grief, mourning or reverence. When he agrees that Adam never liked him, there’s no bitterness either. It feels like he accepted long ago that he was never truly wanted, & now that Adam’s gone, he’s simply moving on, maybe even relieved. He doesn’t carry Adam’s wrath, fire, or ideological rigidity. There’s irony in that: the new leader of the Exorcists doesn’t care about punishment or vengeance. When Sera asks how Heaven should respond to Hell, Abel says: “I don’t much like confrontation, so I don’t love the idea of going down for revenge or anything… buuut they did sorta kinda kill my dad a little bit so… maybe? I’m pretty okay with either option to be honest.” Lute’s hallucination of Adam reinforces the point: “I never liked that kid,” before calling Abel a “major pussy.”
One theory suggests that Abel is the product of Eve & Lucifer. There are religious texts & interpretations, particularly in some strands of Jewish mysticism & early Christian apocrypha, that suggest Eve slept with the serpent [ Satan ]. In some readings of the Zohar & Talmudic Midrashim, the serpent isn’t just a deceiver, he’s a sexual tempter, implying Cain [ or by extension, Abel ] may have been fathered by a corrupting, external force. Notice the ‘eating out gesture’ Lucifer makes when referencing Lilith… but when it comes to Eve, he switches to the other gesture & that’s when Adam gets really mad. Lucifer is often not given enough credit, in my opinion. Yes, he’s nicer, he’s trying to be a good father to Charlie, & he’s painted as good, kind, & “misunderstood”… but he’s still the literal devil. Fandom often prefers to uphold the previously established dynamic between him & Lilith [ that they’re like Morticia & Gomez, that he’s only ever fallen for her & wouldn’t cheat on her — which, he didn’t have to in order to sleep with Eve, but I digress... ] & that’s exactly why many dismiss the idea that he would ever sleep with Eve in the first place. But I don’t personally believe that gesture was truly random or simply a provocation for its own sake. Perhaps Lucifer is implying something Adam refuses to acknowledge. He hit a sore spot, & I don’t think he’s referring to the fruit.
Another popular theory is that Adam didn’t eat the fruit [ “I’ve never made a mistake in my fucking life!” ] But if that statement is just an attempt to paint himself as untouchable & unfallen, then his hatred of sinners may stem from personal failure. The first true sinner after Eve wasn’t an outsider; it was Cain, a child from his bloodline, & if Abel was indeed not his child, then Abel’s existence becomes more than a disappointment, it becomes a direct challenge to Adam’s authority over creation, legacy & spiritual purity. In that context, Adam doesn’t hate sinners simply because they defy Heaven; he hates them because they reflect his inability to enforce control. They remind him that sin began inside his own house.
Abel being Lucifer’s son reframes everything. Adam was never the sole architect of mankind, nor the moral gatekeeper he claims to be. The order he fought to preserve was already fractured. There’s a reason he calls Charlie & her group, “You ungrateful, disgusting, fucking LOSERS!” with such vitriol, such hate & disgust. That wasn’t just him lashing out in the moment; it was absolutely personal & full of genuine contempt. It also exposes a contradiction: if Adam truly despises sin, if his hatred for impurity is so absolute, then why would he favor Cain, the first true sinner after Eve, over Abel, who was pleasant, joyful, & seemingly harmless? Unless what truly enrages him is the fact that sin came from his bloodline, while that true / genuine goodness Abel possesses may have come from Lucifer, who he calls “the most hated in all of creation!” While mankind, which he furiously reminds everyone “came from these fucking nuts!” turned out disgusting, sinful, & imperfect.
Abel is the reminder that Adam may have been the beginning, but he was never meant to be the blueprint. Why did Adam reject him? Why would a man obsessed with purity favor a murderer over the brother who did nothing wrong? Why would he call Abel a coward, when he was the one murdered by a sinner? Maybe Adam didn’t reject Abel because he was weak. Maybe he rejected him because he wasn’t his. He claims dominion over all of humanity, yet speaks of it with nothing but contempt. Maybe he never had control. Maybe that’s why he’s so desperate to erase the reminder [ sinners, ] & why Exterminations are “fun” for him.
To recap: Abel is confirmed to be nothing like Adam — he’s calm, soft-spoken, pleasant & generally uninterested in punishment. He doesn’t inherit his father’s wrath or fixation on judgment. If Abel isn’t biologically Adam’s son, it implies that sin, violence, & control may be tied to Adam’s bloodline, while empathy, grace, & the capacity for redemption could stem from an outside force, potentially Lucifer. Maybe that’s part of why Adam never accepted him: not necessarily because he was weak, but because he was never his.

I'm just kinda throwing shit at the wall now but, have we considered if Lucifer *knows* that Lilith is in heaven and that's why he still wears his ring? Not much thought behind it, he could very well still be reeling from the separation like everyone else thought.

Things I Noticed While Watching Hazbin Hotel High
Part 2
Tumblr media
Carmella tells Vaggie she made the connection to her having been an exorcist from the X on her eye and her yielding an Angelic spear.

You can't convince me that Alastor did not see this in her himself THE MOMENT he met Vaggie.

Ramblings ahead:
Being a Hazbin fan with deep religious trauma and a love for philosophy is a wild ride. I keep seeing a lot of fan discourse deciding who is redeemable and who is not among the cast. One prime example is Alastor. As much as I like him as a character, he is evil, and was a terrible, twisted person when he was alive. A large amount of discourse says he is irredeemable (Vaggie even says this in the pilot) and even IF he does gain redemption, he will never be deserving of it. I also think of characters like the Vees or even Husk when this take is brought up.
But then I think back to the soup litmus test made by Rev. Oliver Snow and how it not only applies to the whole concept of Hazbin Hotel, but to real life.
The test is one simple question: Does every person in the world deserve to have their favorite soup? (i.e. Does every person deserve to be fed and comforted whenever they want?)
If your answer is “Everyone but X person or X group,” or flat out “No,” you’ve failed the test and cannot move onto more nuanced questions about said soup, and you are stuck at step 1. If you answer “Yes” just so you can deny people soup in step 2, you move back to the initial question because you haven’t moved past your prejudices and biases.
I am someone who recognizes that they were not the best person for a large amount of their adolescent and young adult years. This test has helped me realize that even though I have issues seeing myself as a person deserving of redemption or forgiveness, I do deserve mercy and basic human rights, no matter the opinions of others. But that’s because every human deserves it.
The whole point of Hazbin lines up with the Soup Test. Yes, all of the characters (save for Charlie, Lucifer, and Vaggie) are in Hell for a reason, meaning they all did terrible things. But they, and by extension, we, deserve second chances and the chance to have our needs met so we can hopefully become better humans.
Everyone deserves to be treated like human beings. Everyone deserves redemption. Yes, they have to want it, but inherently, everyone deserves a second chance. That’s entirely what the hotel is there for…and it’s the initial jumping off point of the Soup Test. Because if everyone is shown the humanity they deserve, then we actually have a chance at real, actionable change and helping those who may need it most. It is step one of humanizing everyone in our communities and in our activism in real life.
A final question I ask, even to myself: if you don’t think fictional characters (that don’t actually exist) deserve rehabilitative or restorative justice, how are you treating real people?

Theories with Fizzie: Is Lilith the one holding Alastor's leash?
Ok, so I was thinking that it's Zestial but it has to be Lillith. Just hear me out on this.
Back in episode 3 ("Scrambled Eggs"), I noticed that there's a flash of fear on Alastor's face when Zestial appears in front of him. Alastor is powerful, and he doesn't seem to fear much, and since this recent episode Mimzie talks about how Alastor appeared in hell and completely changed the game by making powerful overlords just vanish and broadcasting what was thought to be their screams over his radio show. Given the fact that he seems to be rather powerful in that sense, it was slightly odd to me that he was kinda a deer in headlights (hehe) when an overlord who seemed to be friendly enough with him...
Tumblr media
At first I wondered if maybe Alastor and Zetial had once been enemies, but given that Vox is still holding his grudge against the radio demon after his 7 year disappearance, I'm assuming all the overlords in hell would be rather quick to hold a grudge, especially since it could be seen as a sign of weakness if they were to just forgive an enemy or something, and since Alastor was so quick to recover, I realized that there can't be anything too big between the two.... But Zestial says something that kinda pointed me toward something going on between the radio demon and the queen of hell. Zestial tells Alastor that there were rumors of him "falling to holy arms" and I took that to mean Lillith since technically, had she submitted to Adam in the very beginning, she would have been one of the first angels allowed into heaven alongside Adam. And given that Charlie says its been 7 years since she's heard from her mother and Alastor was awol for 7 years as well, and according to Husk, Alastor is also bound to someone, it would make sense that he was with the person he's indebted to in the time he was gone, right? And everyone says that Alastor just kinda popped up and was automatically powerful to take out overlords who were "heavy hitters" in Mimzy's words... I think Alastor made a deal with Lillith for the power he has, and I think Husk may be the one who actually knows this, he might even know where Alastor was all that time he was gone. If that's true, it would make sense that Alastor was so quick to pop off the way he did; he can't have Husk not only step out of his place as Alastor's underling, but possibly expose Alastor's little secret to everyone, which I think could potentially cause a lot of drama, so of course Alastor had to remind him that he may be on a leash, but he also holds his (Husk's).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So who could Husk be referring to here? Who is Alastor working for?
I bet it's Lillith.

Ok- listen to me on this one.
Tumblr media
I find it surprising how the authorities arresting I.M.P. were from the sloth ring (the candles). Considering the fact that sloth = lazy. I’d expect the authorities to be from the wrath or even envy ring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if- and this is just a theory..
What if, Belphegor is always sleepy because she sleeps for the sinners and inhabitants of the sloth ring.
Belphegor is a sheep. When you can’t sleep, what do you do? You try to count sheep to try and get some sleep. Maybe, what Belphegor does is to help her subjects, she helps sleep for them and in return her subjects aren’t ever sleepy and always energised to do their work. All the energy she gains from sleeping, she gives it to her people so they dont require to sleep. But of course, this takes a toll on her because now she’s always sleepy.
I know, not alot of proof to go around this theory. But look at this guy,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks like some kind of anger therapist for Satan. He’s definitely from the sloth ring (the candle). And look back in S2 E4,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The guys are also from the sloth ring (the candles). Seems like all medicine/drugs comes from the sloth ring. And for a ring where you’re supposed to be demotivated or lazy, they do ALOT of work. From careers such as a therapist or an officer, these jobs require ALOT of energy. Some even time consuming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Belphegor seems to sleep ALOT compare to her own sinners/inhabitants in sloth. Thats why it got me thinking, how can her own people do all these jobs and yet Belphegor herself cant get through a trial without falling in and out of sleep? It makes you ponder.. why would she do that to herself?
Tumblr media
Maybe because, her ring is at the lowest in the hierarchy. Its isn’t the most deadliest sin like pride or wrath. I also think she fears her ring might fall behind the other rings because her people will be too lazy to get anything done. So to avoid any mockery from the other Deadly Sins, she decides to give them energy by sleeping for them. It doesn’t matter is she’s oversleeping or not present when a meeting is being held, as long as her ring is prosperous, she’s sleeping peacefully.
I feel like the downside to all this is that, the sloth ring is ALWAYS awake. Nobody sleeps which means sinners and inhabitants are always finding something to do. Which is why her ring ends up being the ring with the best medicine/drugs, hospitals and maybe even security service.

Something I wanna talk about that don’t think anyone else has noticed; during the Lucifer VS Adam fight, when Lucifer brought up Eve, Adam’s face went from this
Tumblr media
To this
Tumblr media
Hazbin Hotel Theory! Adam genuinely loved or at least cared about Eve waaaay more than Lilith.
If that’s the case I really hope Adam ended up in hell the same way Sir Pentious ended up in heaven, so when Eve does get introduced in the the show, we can see how they interact with each other and learn more about their relationship.

Something I think often goes unquestioned [ even by myself ] is the assumption that Abel died first. It’s canon to the Bible, so it's almost treated as a given when applying it to Hazbin’s universe. But Viv is clearly reworking biblical lore in her own way. It’s already been confirmed by Sera that Adam was the first soul in Heaven, which raises a real question: what if he never lived much longer past that point? What if that’s why he still looks so young? & now that we know Abel wasn’t even Adam’s favorite, it’s making me reconsider what else we’ve accepted by default. Maybe Abel didn’t die first; maybe Adam died first...

masculine angel dust theory???
a lot of the time i see angel dust fanart, he's in a stereotypically feminine outfit, and while i love seeing him look babygirl, i noticed something
when he's with valentino, he's dressed very feminine
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
however, when he's not, he dresses more masculine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there are touches of femininity, yes, but he does look more masculine than usual
i think a lot about the scene in "masquerade" where angel tells husk his flirty, showboating persona is "who he needs to be" and i figure that valentino is the one making angel dress feminine. he probably doesn't mind it (or didn't used to) but i wonder if he ever gets freed from valentino, would his usual outfit be more masculine?
this is a really long way to say that i want to see fanart of angel dust in suits because 1. he absolutely slays in them and i never see him in a proper suit outside the show 2. him dressing more feminine might be the works of valentino and that bald ass moth bitch can shove rocks down his throat
draw what you want tho :3

That's fucking ahhhhhhhh🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
But low-key what if he made a deal with Lilith because his mom didn't make it into heaven for some reason. He wouldn't be able to let her live in hell, he wouldn't stand for it.... So wouldn't he do anything to make sure she made it to what's supposed to be paradise? I mean it's just a theory, but think about it. No wonder he can't talk about it & he would never risk breaking in a way that would jeopardize his mother's well-being.
Tumblr media
Saw a theory that Alastor made his deal with Lilith(?) in order to see his mother again.

What if Vox ruined Alastor?
I've seen it countless times that people said Alastor just 'used' Vox and even rejected Vox proposing, or even trying to date him, but what if we switch it?
Alastor truly thought that his friendship with Vox was genuine. He spent time with him all the time. Vox was one of his first friends in hell. (Mimzy doesn't count as they knew each other before they died) Alastor even shared everything with Vox, secrets, personal things, insecurities, everything. Unfortunately, Vox was only 'using' Alastor to be friends for a little bit, so they'd jump right into a sexual relationship.
One night, Vox, thinking they were finally in the 'romance zone' tricked Alastor into coming to The V Tower, to his room to spend time together, but in reality, he only wanted sex.
That's when Alastor finally realized, all this time, Vox never really wanted to be friends, he only viewed him as a sex toy.
This was also the same time Vox and Valentino were friends, and Val could've been involved in this a little as well.
The very next day, after Alastor found out how Vox really viewed him, he could've asked Alastor to join their team. Of course, Alastor denies it, and that's how their fight truly took place.
This whole time, Vox never cared for Alastor, in a friendship way. Their whole friendship, gone. Alastor swore to NEVER get manipulated into a relationship like this ever again.

One of the things I'm most looking forward to in a potential crossover is the Morningstar family + Vaggie outside of the Pride ring. I know Sinner characters most likely can't leave Pride, but seeing the ones who can move freely throughout the other rings intrigues me.
Imagine Charlie and Vaggie on a date at Ozzie's or Bee's. Lucifer ACTUALLY doing his job attending a trial of the Sins. Lilith performing a sold-out show in Greed to a crowd of slobbering, doting fans.
The possibilities are endless. 💖
