Lizzie is a sacrificial lamb in the sense of. A wounded animal fighting against its bindings, because it isn't fair for its life to be reduced, time and time again, to what cleansing flames can offer other people.

On the other hand, Scott is a sacrificial lamb in the sense of. An animal who follows you and lays down in your lap as you prepare to slaughter it, because it's accepted that it's only worth is in the gain of other people.

Okay, but what if, after graduation, all the students band together and create a gigantic contract that states that, after their deaths, their respective UMs are to be given to Malleus, so he'll never be alone?

The contract's paper received protection from Vil's Fairest One of All, so it's basically indestructible (it can only be broken after Malleus himself dies).

Future Malleus tries to use everyone's magic at least once per day.

It's a Deal, Off With Your Head, Bind the Heart and Split Card are very useful for his daily activities as a ruler, he uses Oasis Maker to water his garden and help in times of drought, I See You is mostly used to keep prized possessions in check and Sleep Kiss has saved plenty of people.

The more destructive abilities like King's Roar are mostly used in times of peril (or when he wants to be petty and dramatic), and the same goes for Bet the Limit. Shock the Heart, Laugh With Me and Snake Whisper are very useful for intel gathering or pranks.

He uses Unleash the Beast whenever he visits a colder climate or just wants to change forms without turning into a dragon (he becomes a black wolf with green eyes, very fluffy). Doodle Suit is often used to make food taste terrible (he misses Lillia, even his atrocious cooking), while Fairest One of All protects all gargoyles frim erosion.

Far Cry Cradle is used to reminisce fond memories, and he likes to use Meet Me in a Dream to visit Ortho, who is still alive. He LOVES dashing around with Living Bolt.

He can't exactly use Gate to The Underworld, since it's hereditary and troublesome, so Idia gave him an indestructible tablet with a custom gargoyle game and a "Idia Mode" (the tablet makes annoying remarks, like "GG Folks" or "This RNG really is awful").

PL More Evidence of Gem Betraying Grian

Adding onto my ep2 theory: Gem passively urging Grian towards spearheading escalated action, leaving him to trigger the trap, and choosing a quiet approach during the ensuing witch hunt, continues setting Grian up to ultimately take the fall for ALL of Villy’s actions.

Gem and Grian were nearly inseparable this episode: demonstrating how others look to Grian first, his reliance on her making the decisions, and Gem pushing him even further into the spotlight. Etho elevated this by following Gem's cues as well and hamming up inter-team drama. Bdubs interprets his clinginess as Gem being “the cool kid” (reputation/status symbol) while Grian is the explicit schemer. Generally, Gem and Grian check in with each other on actions, but she pushes back on his ideas where he folds against hers.

This culminates in the trap. Strategically and somewhat nervous, Grian asks Gem to be the one to trigger the trap, rightly arguing that she’s the least suspicious (+ famously strong at deflection.) However, Gem makes her disapproval very clear, doubting he’s in danger and expressing her own discomfort, and he backs down. This keeps her hands clean while making it seem like Grian was asking something unreasonable and cruel, and cowardly second-guessing their agreement — “do you want me to do it?” He has to double down on villainy, or she’ll think worse of him. It’s episode 1 all over again.

Once the accusations start flying, Gem lets the mob process through their ideas uninterrupted, only stepping in when it’s going too far (calling for an execution.) While manipulation would be tougher fighting against the noise, Gem doesn’t prepare a scapegoat or take attention off Grian the same way she backs up Etho. Her “we’re easy to frame” argument is well delivered, but broad and only truly clears her and Pearl. Gem rushes to stop the mob from outright murdering Grian, but Pearl’s the one to target Martyn first. Grian offers Scar, and Gem uses the idea to deflect (ex: interrupting Skizz/Joel) but again — flimsy, coming off as Villy’s defending each other. In Among Us, Gem’s entire bit is throwing out names and adamantly backing up any accusations that stick. This is her specialty, and she’s letting Grian take the hit.

However, her ultimate goal is hiding the Secret Society, including her involvement. Despite being at their base with the other two Villy's present, blame is firmly attributed to Etho and Grian alone. They need Gem to dissolve suspicion. It's completely expected for Gem to loudly defend her teammate -- at that point nobody assumed she was in cahoots w/the boys -- so why does she wait? It's possible delaying arguing with the Mob was to make the accusations unreasonable (executing Grian) and force them to run out of steam. She has practice letting Joel talk himself out of ideas, and knows most others will be satisfied walking away thinking "probably Grian or Scar." Whatever the reason, Gem took a quieter approach to controlling the situation, prioritizing keeping attention off herself and downplaying the consequences (aggrieved victim's feelings.) That will recoil back on Grian later.

Pearl’s role is altered this session as we see how they keep her tangibly out of the loop, yet still value her input. Gem suggests that Pearl covering for Grian may make the difference in public opinion, which Grian outright rejects. Pearl rarely lies especially with her moral code on the line: although in the actual event she defends him absolutely despite her doubts. (Pearl's POV in general is it's own post.) Gem also ensures Pearl is sent away on errands to avoid intervening in the Secret Society, also distancing her from any backlash and continuing to build positive relationships with other teams. She's keeping her in the Villys (resources, base plans, group convos) but at a drastic arms length away. Very curious, especially since they haven't had another 1 on 1 talk about feelings yet. In any case, Pearl and Grian are still isolated from each other.

In the best case, Gem is letting Grian take the entire fall for his actions, not intervening to lessen the blow or blame, keeping herself removed from the consequences. In the worst case she’s actively guiding him into incriminating situations, sending the tide of public opinion to ruin him. Either way, Gem doesn’t want to be attached to his maliciousness, only known for her loyal backup and personal status to gain or lose favor with. These aren’t the actions of a ride-or-die teammate: she’s using him as cover. For her grand victory, or another, deeply personal goal? The damage is the same.

Another disclaimer that this is tinfoil hat speculation territory: I'm very biased and it's likely the normal Grian Gem partnership seen in GIGGS/HC. Worth noting that Grian chooses to depend on Gem -- he's on board, malicious scheme or not. There's just something deliberate in how Gem is handling Grian, and I'm gonna figure it out.

SVSSS idea #2

In PIDW, Airplane had taken inspiration from Steven Universe and Land of the Lustrous and added gem people into the novel, near to the end of the novel so there wasn't much to learn about them- merely a throwaway paragraph of their creation hidden in 5 chapters of papapa.

So Shen Yuan was surprised when he wakes up with bubble-like green crystal skin and copper seeping from his 'skin'.

Shen Yuan groaned as he blearily opened his eyes and pushed himself up from the silky bed he was laying on. He sat there for a few moments, sleep clouding his head in a pleasant cotton feeling from a good nights sleep-

wait a minute...

DIDN'T HE DIE?!?!

Hands fly up from where they were fisted in blankets to his throat- he was sure he had been choking on a too-big piece of steamed bun while raging about the final chapter of that damned novel!

Clink? Shen Yuan pulled his hands from his throat at the sound, only to see his hands no longer had their typical sickly pale tone, nor the fleshy feel they were supposed to have.

No, instead his hands were a deep green in colour, with bubble-like bands of other shades of green while also having a copper colour in some of the bands. It wasn't just his hands either, it was all the way up his arms and his entire body from what he could tell from a single glance over-

The door to the room creaks open before Shen Yuan's thoughts could run off on their own, revealing an old man [in the sense that anyone above 45 was old in Shen Yuan's eyes as a 19 year old] and a person.... that he honestly couldn't tell the gender of.

"Ah, you're awake." The person spoke first, a clipboard in their hands as they stepped into the room with the old man, walking over to Shen Yuan and pulling out a stool from under the bed. "Good morning, my name is Moisannite. You are in the medical compound of the Lustrous Sect."

As the person spoke, they busied themself by reaching into a desk drawer by the bed and pulling out what looked to be a tin, kind of like the foundations that his meimei used to put on for her make up. Moisannite soon started brushing whatever was in the tin onto his arms, a pigment sticking to his body and covering him with a pale skin-like colour.

The old man who had also entered the room had sat himself down on the opposite side of the bed. Shen Yuan's attention was brought to him when he started speaking, "You must be very confused." He sounded kind, so he probably wasn't some xianxia villain or something like that.

"Let's start from the beginning, shall we?"
