Hear, hear, fellow peeps. 'Tis I, your humble scribe, once again. Seeking for... 🥁 beta readers. This time for True Devotion that Remains Constant a.k.a TDRC's first draft.

This is my third search at beta readers. And suffice to say, throughout my search in 2021-2022, only one (1) reader managed to complete it. Readers have dropped out bc they were busy or the story wasn't for them, which understandable. I need people to be clear in whether they're capable of being up for it or not. 'Cause it's dang long and is probably a lot of pressure for some.

If you’re in, you can approach me in my inbox. And we can hash it out in DMs or discord. i don’t mind either way, and there’s pointers you have to check before reading. bc i did have some feedback, I’m aware of a few issues, which is slowly fixed in draft 2. I'll have to prepare the links before delivering it to you.

My simple goals are just: grammar mistakes, any inconsistencies, whether things make sense, and all the basic details I'd have missed. Just know I’m not publishing the story bc I might read it only for me. I guess for ppl interested in it too but not publicly. just a private link for them to read in.

I'm not expecting you to complete beta-reading within a month or so, you can complete it at anytime. It’s over 100k-ish words and 40 (i took out some chapter bc i changed it and removed some already in the second draft) chapters. I want 5 (five) beta readers at most. That way, I can have enough varied responses.

EOA Discord Server Ship Appreciation Week Day 4: Writing

a/n: hi everyone! you may notice today’s entry looks a bit different, and that’s because it is! for day 4, i was simply stuck on an idea for a fic, and to be honest, i was a bit worried i would never figure out an idea! i was determined to contribute something for each day, though, and on the first night of the week, an idea suddenly came to mind!

so, without further ado, introducing a Ship Appreciation Week poem of sorts! in my family, my aunt has made a mini tradition for important anniversaries where she writes a poem all about the couple, and over the past couple months, i’ve picked up her skill, which is what inspired this! a very special thank you to all who told me a bit about their favorite ships after seeing my post about this the other day, if you are among this group, i made sure your ship was included :)

Naomi and Mateo are a possible pair.

Naomi could learn magic, Mateo could sail the seas,

These two amigos bring up endless possibilities!

I won’t write, reblog, or like any posts re: Endgame until 1st May. I don’t want stuff spoiled for people, and whether I will even see it myself is up for debate. That depends entirely on what Loki’s story (if he has any role at all) is like.

Regarding Loki spoilers specifically:

I plan on knowing these at my earliest convenience by dipping into DMs with people who have already seen the film. Feel free to message me about this once I know — I’ll have no problem privately telling people if they want to prepare themselves before going to the cinema. Please don’t DM/send asks about any other characters/spoilers, because I don’t plan on knowing those ahead of time! Pretty sure @lokiloveforever will also be allowing people to jump into their inbox regarding Loki info...

Regarding blog activity and story updates:

☆—Announcement: Mod Applications

Good evening, everyone!  I’m so glad to be able to announce this tonight!

The National Park has been around for nearly four years now, isn’t that amazing?  I never thought our little group would become a staple in the community, a place that’s established itself among its members as being more like a family than as a number on another group’s roster.  When I first opened the group, I never wanted people to have negative experiences in groups like I used to.  I didn’t want people to hop from one group to another, struggling to find a place to belong, or to have a thread you don’t have to beg to get.  I’ve been there, and it sucks.

Our group’s only mission is to let people know they matter.  Your opinions, characters, and everything else are worth something, even if other people want to make you believe the opposite.  I want you to know that you shouldn’t feel afraid to want to write about the things you love.  This will never change.

Before Psy, our beloved Meowth-mod, joined our modding team, I ran the National Park alone.  For the longest time I thought I could handle it—even as I was running myself ragged.  I believed that I could do everything alone, but I didn’t have to.  Having someone else help out was the best thing to happen to our group!  We were able to flourish, and try new things that I hadn’t thought of before.

Which is why I’m bringing this to you all today, my lovely friends.  With new responsibilities hanging on our shoulders, and with the Park becoming as large as it is, two people can no longer support the group.  We need someone else to join the team.  We need you!

That’s right!  We’re opening a new moderator position!

Running a group isn’t as easy as it looks.  There’s a lot of nuances and behind-the-scenes work that goes on that requires a lot of effort from everyone involved.  You need to know what’s expected of you, and what your job duties will be.  You don’t need to have experience in order to be considered.  I will go over all of your training before you officially join the scene.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM A MOD—

Please read the following carefully, because these are very important.  

Respect for the individual.  This includes when participating in our Discord chat, in private DMs when you’re acting as a mod, and on the dashboard.

Patience.  Sometimes things don’t happen quickly, and that’s okay.  It takes time to figure things out.  Mods must have patience in order to make informed decisions.

Good decision making isn’t easy.  You must be a good listener, especially when one or more parties have something to discuss.  If you don’t know the answer, say so, and let them know you will get back to them.  Discuss the situation with the other mods.

You must remain impartial.  Treat people you don't necessarily like the same way you would your friends: with respect.  As a moderator, you cannot let your negative feelings influence how you talk and act to other members.

Act with integrity.  Be honest with yourself and others, and treat people the way you want to be treated.

Now that you know what’s expected of you in regards to how you should act, let’s move on to your job description.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES—

All mods have the same duties, so you will not be expected to do any one task alone.

Check and respond to messages in the inbox according to our guidelines.

Check and update the hub’s pages as needed.

Posting our promotional images on our promo blog (daily).

Help with preparing for Activity Checks.

Be knowledgeable of our established rules, and answer questions to help others abide by them.

Discuss hub activities with other mods in our mod-only Discord server.

Be able to enforce group rules, both in the chat and on the dash.

Help plan and write seasonal events.

Contribute to writing resources and pages to help players.

Sounds easy, right?  Right!  It’s better when you work as a team, that way you won’t suffocate under the feelings of guilt and pressure by doing it alone.  Let’s move on to the application.

maig, it’s so rude that your message to me came through my inbox at the very moment that i went to start writing yours, because now i’m trying really hard not to be emotional about it! so rude! i had to pause in writing this and go do something else so i wouldn’t just sit here and feel overwhelmed with gratitude. buckle in, this is going to be a long message for literally no good reason except that i have a lot to say. 

it’s wild to think that in the month of may it’ll be mark my 1-year of being on your team. once i got picked as a new admin, i had to read that dm a million times because i was sure it was wrong, but i was so excited to start helping out! and when i got invited to the admin discord, i was a little apprehensive, just because 1) i wanted to do a good job and make you all proud and 2) i was nervous about coming into a situation and being the new cog in the wheel when all of you were already so close. (especially because after a certain point the only “new” admins were me and cherry, and cherry didn’t count as new because they’d been in your d&d campaign and friends with you all the whole time, haha.) my nervousness was probably evident in my silence in the non-work chats for so long, lol. but EVERYONE was friendly right away and i really shouldn’t have been nervous at all. getting invited to jackbox game nights is still always one of my favorite things, and the first few times that happened i finally started to feel like, ok it’s fine, i’m not intruding on a pre-established group of friends, these people do actually like spending time with me and aren’t just inviting me to be nice about it :’) and in general, basically what you said in your positivity message to me about me feeling more confident now is really true, and that’s definitely due to all of your guidance and your endless patience. i am slowly distancing myself from feeling like i have to ride on admin training wheels, though i know that when i inevitably do have questions, i can still come right to you all because you’ll be happy to help me figure out whatever it is i’m confused about. SO i suppose what i want to say is just-- thank you for believing in me, and for trusting me to help make decisions. and for appreciating my contributions, too! when you and sunny came to talk to me about your concern that i felt overloaded by monitoring the inbox so often, that was really sweet and kind of you and i hope you believe me when i say that i do really enjoy it and i’m not stressed about it at all. i truly like doing it and i’m thankful that you all let me keep doing so, haha.
