Posting Identities and What They Mean: Part 2: Lesbian

Lesbian is a sexual orientation, most commonly seen as women who like women, or women loving women (wlw) and while that is a good chunk of lesbians, not all lesbians are women. You can identify as lesbian if you are under the trans or non binary spectrum. A lot of people see being lesbian as no-men loving non-men, which is generally more accurate. There are some men (trans and cis) who identify as lesbian, and as long as they experience their love for women as sapphic, that's valid too!**There are many stereotypes that all lesbians are butch (present masc) but not all are, and you never have to conform to stereotypes! Sapphic is a term that encompasses all non-men loving non-men, ie bisexual women, etc. The term comes from Sappho, our lesbian goddess, the original lesbian, and an amazing poet, She lived on the Isle of Lesbos, which is where we get the term lesbian. All lesbians are 100% valid, and they all matter!
