♡ struggling to regress?༅
here are some methods that might help!
Tumblr media
♡ sensory matching method ──୨ৎ── focus on connecting three senses that trigger regression! soooo if a childhood cartoon made you feel little, pair it with a scent that gives the same feeling and a texture that also has that comforting feeling, such as a soft blankie!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ familiar senses method ──୨ৎ── focus on nostalgia and familiar comfort items! get a childhood snack, set up soft and gentle lighting, and surround yourself with things that bring warmth and nostalgia! regressing often comes easier for many in an environment that feels familiar & safe!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ baby steps method ──୨ৎ── focus on starting slow and building up little activities! so instead of trying to force it or jump right into it, slightly like the first two methods, start slown! start with a small, soothing action like hugging a stuffie or putting on cozy socks! then maybe surround yourself with familiar regression cues like a childhood show then dim the lights & grab a comfy blankie! once you feel more at ease maybe do smth like coloring or playing with toys!! so this way you slowly feel more relaxed instead of pressured to regress quickly!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ storytime method ──୨ৎ── read a short children’s book or a calming fairytale out loud or listen to an audiobook with a gentle, nurturing voice to help shift your mindset!! there are also asmr videos of people reading children books!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ ritual method ──୨ৎ── repeat a small comforting action every time you want to regress!! maybe it’s putting on a specific cozy outfit, turning on a soft dim or colored light, having a certain drink, or hugging your favorite stuffed animal! associating an action with regression can help over time!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ regression playlist method ──୨ৎ── make a special playlist with songs or lullabies! i like to play disney songs!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ soundscapes method ──୨ৎ── if music doesn't work for you instead of music, try listening to sound effects that mimic childhood nostalgia! so things like playground noises, soft rain, wind chimes, or toy store sounds, whatever works for you that you can find!!༅

The Creator's Guide to Comics Devices is OPEN!!! comicsdevices.com
An online library of visual-narrative devices that are used in the medium of comics and other sequential art.
Happy Halloween! I'm really excited to be finally launching* what is maybe one of my most ambitious, largest work yet. This online library is the next phase of a research project that began in May 2020, when I first mused on how comics as a field doesn't have a resource that catalogues devices used in the medium. Like, theatre has devices, so does literature, and film! So why shouldn't comics? I always had an interest in comics studies and analysis. I love reading, making and thinking comics. However most of my knowledge was intuitive - I learned comics from osmosis and experience. This is true for many of my peers. Speaking about comics as a creator is hard, because we don't have a robust system of language. When we had to speak, many of us tend to reach for the language developed for film by film practitioners. If there is language specific to comics, it's either scattered in multiple blogs or hidden away in academic journals. The Comics Devices library is meant to aggregate everything and everybody into a single hub! After exploring some multiple resources, alongside some original, independent research, here is the first edition! * The Comics Devices project is still a work-in-progress! It's not final, nor will it ever be. This is why I am seeking contributors to help build this library. Translations, comics examples, etc. There is a lot of work to do! If you are interested, reply to this post or submit an expression of interest on this page.  Have fun everyone!! (Now time for me to melt x_x)

"But if college was free, then people would abuse that and get useless degrees" hell yeah I would! If I could go to college without debt I would make it my job to get a degree in every little thing that interested me. I'd get a doctorate in film studies. I'd have a bachelor's degree for every science I like. I'd try to learn at least 5 languages with varying results. I would learn something "useful" like coding and then follow it up with a ""useless"" degree like art history. I'd be the world record speed run holder for getting every degree possible.
But I can't afford college without going into massive debt, so instead I spent the last 5 years trying to figure out what I am passionate enough about to consider going into debt over, because unfortunately being passionate about everything is extremely expensive to pursue.

A library of free-to-use Solarpunk art ☀️
A friend of mine launched this website yesterday, it's meant to promote human-made Solarpunk illustrations, so that we'll see less blurry, wobbly, weird fucking skyscrapers covered in vague green blobs attached to Solarpunk-related articles etc.
All the images available are under some version of the Creative Commons license! You can use them for zines, blog posts, papers, social media banners and so on, as long as you give credit and don't restrict others' access to them either.
If you yourself have an illustration you think would be a good fit, you can submit it here :D
Tumblr media
You can find 7 of my own works there as well!

"The Global North’s political economy relies on the oppression of the Global South in general and of Palestine in particular.
As academic and writer Patrick Higgins noted in late October: 'We’re seeing a blow against the US-led world system. Since, really post-World War II, but especially post-1970 or so, Israel has been the linchpin, the basket into which most of the American chips are put, in order to sustain broader control of West Asia.'
This historical reality places a profound obligation on those in the Global North who would seek to be in solidarity to seriously consider what strategies and tactics Palestinians are calling for in the struggle for liberation, sovereignty and safety.
Such calls to action do not include that we opine on Palestinians’ methods of resistance.
They do include that we understand the history and actuality of that resistance, do all we can to stop the ongoing provision of arms to the occupation, engage in boycott, divestment and sanctions, and fight back against the criminalization of those who support Palestine’s liberation from Zionist settler colonialism.
As Virginia Tech’s Bikrum Gill exhorted: 'Show no fear, no surrender, as you oppose those who support the US-Israeli genocide of Palestinians. Bring your institutions to crisis if their functioning requires silence or complicity.'"

i added this as a reblog but it should get its own post - this little zine is available on ko-fi as a free printable pdf! mini-zines are surprisingly addictive, once you start printing & folding your brain latches onto it & it's hard to stop. indescribable feeling of having something you drew in your hands & being able to flip through it and show other people.

♡ how to handle vent regression༅
paw print: i hope this is helpful to someone in some way!༅ 🐾
Tumblr media
⊹for littles⊹
♡ gentle grounding ──୨ৎ── hug a plushie, sip something warm, play with a soft texture, get a weighted blankie, or listen to quiet sounds to soothe yourself! a popular method is the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding method too! you name 5 things you see, 4 things you feel, 3 things you hear, 2 things you smell, and 1 thing you taste! you can also change it like just focusing on 5 things you can touch, or count how many soft things you can see, or start recalling your stuffies names, etc!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ let yourself feel without guilt ──୨ৎ── if emotions are heavy, allow yourself to feel them!! it’s okay to have these feelings!! don't feel guilt, you have no reason to! you aren’t bad for struggling, and the only time it becomes harmful is if they lead to hurting yourself or others but even then, that doesn’t make you a bad person!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ distractions ──୨ৎ── if allowing yourself to feel the heavy feelings isn't something you want or think is best, use fidgets, squish toys, color, or play with textures! you can play songs and sounds too! maybe even put a cartoon on and try to calm down with a little snack!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
⊹for caregivers⊹
♡ reassurance ──୨ৎ── simple phrases like “you’re safe/okay,” “i've got you,” "i understand," and loving nicknames can be a very biggg help!!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ safe space ──୨ৎ── be patient with them!! and turn on soft lighting, get a warm blankie, get little items nearby!! make the space feel safe! and if they feel okay with it, hugs!!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ assistance ──୨ৎ── if loud noises, sensory issues, etc. ar bothering them, help ground them and help get them what they need!༅
✂ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
♡ encouragement ──୨ৎ── encourage them to do things you know will help!! like watching a cartoon, counting, etc. and just be encouraging in any way you can!༅

Do you know of any other free online libraries like yours? I love QLL So Much and I would love to be able to expand my book possibilities even more :) They don’t have to be queer focused - anything is good! (Of course i’m also signed up w my local library which is great and has a good-size selection, but sometimes holds are very long)
one of the reasons we exist is because there isn’t anyone else doing exactly what we do!
there are quite a few other brick & mortar queer libraries scattered across the continent but most don’t have that digital presence (unless you’re in Minnesota! if so, check out Quatrefoil). there are also a LOT of regular libraries with digital collections on Libby or Hoopla - some public libraries have really specific residency requirements to be a member, others have some flexibility (reddit is actually a font of knowledge if you’re exploring this - r/audiobooks or r/libby to start). If you already have a public library card, there are also a lot of resource-sharing initiatives out there between libraries that you may be eligible for - for example MeL in michigan, or the Brooklyn Public Library’s Books UnBanned initiative if you meet their age window, or if you have any connections to an academic library InterLibraryLoan (ILL) - even if you’re not a student/faculty/staff some colleges/universities have ‘community user’ policies you could explore. you can always walk into your library and ask a library worker if your local system is connected to anything like this (they will be THRILLED to answer that question, let me tell you).
I’d also strongly encourage you to go absolutely hog wild on Open Access resources like Project Gutenberg, which has a ton of amazing things in the public domain. also the directory of open access books or world digital library for the more academically inclined.

Asexuality in science fiction
A resource guide
Tumblr media
Hello! So a while ago, I mentioned a resource guide for asexuality in science fiction. It includes resources for information about asexuality, asexual creators, non-fiction, fiction databases, fiction, writing asexuality, and writing sci-fi. There's a decent amount of aromantic resources included too bc a lot of resources included both. Also, there's a wide variety of types of resources:
Tumblr media
Come and check it out! Both high and lower quality versions included:

Please check out your local library!!
I volunteered at a library this summer where my main tasks were returning books and organizing. Here’s some common books I saw tons of in the library that you can get for free!
Cooking. So much cooking. All kinds of foods, dietary limitations, and cultural specific.
Crafts (sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting, decorating, pottery, drawing, and cross stitching are what I can remember just off the top of my head. So many)
ESL/learning English
Foreign language learning
Financial advice
So many “___ for idiots”
Destinations / countries
Mental health / disorders (and recovery)
Music (including sheet music)
Classics (the ones you see read in high school)
Test prep (including SAT, ACT, PSAT, ect)
Gardening / how to grow stuff
Pet care
Child care
Illness information / coping
Disability information / coping
Both specific and general historical topics (From just the history of America in general, the history of a certain group of people, to history of certain events, ect.)
Most hobbies.
Religion
How-to’s and guides
Audio books and movies are usually available in the hundreds. Popular books and movies are accessible.
It’s usually disability friendly and most are also offering free games and devices to borrow.
Most also have computers where if you are looking for a certain book, it will tell you where it is in the library or which nearby libraries do have that book.
Fiction books are also abundant and usually the genre is labeled on the spine.
Even if you don’t want to take a book out, you can sit there all day and just read a book. It’s a good, quiet place for those stuck in a chaotic situation. It usually has AC/heat, bathrooms, and water fountains too. As long as you’re not a snorer, no one really cares if you even take a nap.
Overall, I cannot recommend libraries enough. People really think why go when you have the internet, but it really has everything and an immediate option so you don’t have to search. And, once again, free!
Libraries, especially in more conservative areas, are getting less and less funding and more and more restriction on books with content regarding LGBTQ+, black history/authors, and safe sex. Donate to your local library. Visit. Check out what is there. There literally is no negative!!
