@linked-disability
the best part about being an artist is that i’m able to draw characters suffering from the same exact issues as me.
and so, because my own joint pain has been flaring up, here’s a very self-indulgent drawing of legend wrapped in kinosio tape!
i took a lot of inspiration from risograph printing for this, which means i only used 3 colors on separate layers to make this. i think the individual color layers look pretty cool, so here they are :)

If you want to support Ukrainians, DO NOT donate to Red Cross. Can't speak about their work in other countries, but they're useless in Ukraine. The only trustworthy international organisation I can think of is World Central Kitchen.
Donate to World Central Kitchen
Tumblr media
And it's even better to donate directly to Ukrainian organisations. Here are a few good legit places:
hospitallers.life - "Hospitallers", Ukrainian paramedics on the frontlines
savelife.in.ua - "Come Back Alive", assistance to the army
prytulafoundation.org - "Prytula Foundation", assistance to the army, humanitarian causes
starenki.com.ua - "Starenki", helping elderly people
everybodycan.com.ua - "Everybody Can", helping disabled children, elders and hospitals
uanimals.org - "UAnimals", saving animals

The leftism/anticapitalism leaving people's bodies the zeptosecond you imply that disabled people who aren't "productive" still matter in society and need to be treated like intrinsic equals who have a place in this world:

So I have had a friend who has gone above and beyond in helping me with stuff, and I am super appreciative for that. I need some more help this month, though, and I don't want to overburden them, so I'm hoping I can get some help from others.
My friend helped cover my overdraft and a $430 loan payment that would have overdrawn my account if I'd put anything into my account, so I can now put any donations in my account to pay off the $238 electric bill.
We still need to clean out our storage unit of the big items we're not bringing to the apartment, and it's going to be around $800. So we need to try and raise that ASAP so we can stop paying for two units every month.
Any help would be amazing, whether it's with donations or reblogs. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: If you don't mind waiting a bit to get them, as my chronic fatigue has been kicking my ass more lately, I'm willing to write fic or make fic covers if you can help. Here are examples of my fic and graphics work!

tumblr users will have the most inaccessible, unreadable, low contrast, flashing carrd you can possibly imagine, with a dni full of insider acronyms with no translation and numerous link buttons labelled with cryptic captions, and then go ahead and put “ableists dni and kys!” on that carrd

In recent years, there has been a rush on the internet to supply image descriptions and to call out those who don’t. This may be an example of community accountability at work, but it’s striking to observe that those doing the most fierce calling out or correcting are sighted people. Such efforts are largely self-defeating. I cannot count the times I’ve stopped reading a video transcript because it started with a dense word picture. Even if a description is short and well done, I often wish there were no description at all. Get to the point, already! How ironic that striving after access can actually create a barrier. When I pointed this out during one of my seminars, a participant made us all laugh by doing a parody: “Mary is wearing a green, blue, and red striped shirt; every fourth stripe also has a purple dot the size of a pea in it, and there are forty-seven stripes—”
“You’re killing me,” I said. “I can’t take any more of that!”
Now serious, she said it was clear to her that none of that stuff about Mary’s clothes mattered, at least if her clothes weren’t the point. What mattered most about the image was that Mary was holding her diploma and smiling. “But,” she wondered, “do I say, Mary has a huge smile on her face as she shows her diploma or Mary has an exuberant smile or showing her teeth in a smile and her eyes are crinkled at the edges?”
It’s simple. Mary has a huge smile on her face is the best one. It’s the don’t-second-guess-yourself option. My thinking around this issue is enriched by the philosopher Brian Massumi’s concept of “esqueness.” He exemplifies it by discussing a kid who plays a tiger:
One look at a tiger, however fleeting and incomplete, whether it be in the zoo or in a book or in a film or video, and presto! the child is tigerized… The perception itself is a vital gesture. The child immediately sets about, not imitating the tiger’s substantial form as he saw it, but rather giving it life—giving it more life. The child plays the tiger in situations in which the child has never seen a tiger. More than that, it plays the tiger in situations no tiger has ever seen, in which no earthly tiger has ever set paw.
Just as the child and an actual tiger are not one bit alike, the words Mary has a huge smile on her face have nothing in common with the picture of Mary holding her diploma. Yet the tiger announces something to the world, its essence, and a kid can become tiger-ized and be tiger-esque, their every act shouting, I am a tiger. The picture of Mary at her graduation is shouting something, and the words Mary has a huge smile on her face are also shouting something. It is at the level beyond each actuality, in the swirl that each stirs up, that the two meet.

@linked-disability prompt 5: sensory impairment (specifically time’s decreased depth perception)
although people with monocular vision (only one eye) can still perceive depth and distance, it’s less accurate than people with binocular vision (and especially with close objects)
time probably doesn’t struggle with this as much as he would’ve when he first lost his vision, but this isn’t the first egg he’s lost and it won’t be the last. he’ll have occasional issues like this for the rest of his life, and it’s extra difficult since he lost his eye relatively recently (every time jojo draws him as a young adult he has both eyes, so it happened in the past 5-10 years)
all of the posts that i’ve made for the linked disability event so far have been about things that i or a family member experience. legend’s joint pain is from me, four’s migraines are based largely on my brother, and time’s depth perception is my dad!
this comic actually is based on a somewhat common occurrence in my house: my dad was born blind in one eye, and although he says it doesn’t affect his day-to-day life in huge ways, it does mean that he has to pay more attention when cracking eggs.
time would probably experience more problems than my dad, but ultimately monocular vision is something that the brain can adapt to! time will just need to be more mindful, and probably relearn some things about fighting.
i have a couple more little comics that i want to make inspired by situations with my dad (my siblings and i loved to mess with him and i know the chain would 100% do the same) but no promises on those lol

If you're disabled in the US and have medicaid, you might be able to get approved for free home care services through your state's Home & Community Based Services! You can have someone come by and help you with chores and/or nursing care once or more every week for FREE! I've had it for 2 years and it's been life changing. Someone comes by to do chores for me twice a week, saving me from constantly feeling bad not being able to clean. You can select form a list of approved companies, or you can even have someone you know get paid by the state to help you out!

for people who want to write jiaoqiu's blindness, here's some research links that i think would be useful for research! :)
a fantastic master post on writing a blind/visually impaired character by mimzy-writing-online, a visually impaired author
a blindness simulator that shows how various forms of blindness can look like
a video of christine ha cooking, a chef who lost her vision. it's posted on her personal channel, where she sometimes posts vlogs about her everyday life as a blind chef
another post by mimzy-writing-online about writing characters with sudden blindness
hope that these links are a good starting off point for people who want to write him! ^^
