green - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 178
"A bite?" Regulus murmured, hardly looking up from his book, gesturing to the mint-chocolate-chip ice cream James was currently enjoying while spread out on the grounds of Hogwarts.
All eyes turned to the Gryffindor. Sirius, himself, was shocked that Regulus had the nerve to even ask. James was generous to a fault, but he did not share ice cream. He'd almost bitten Sirius's head off in first year when he'd tried to steal a bite out of his bowl at dinner, once.
But even as Remus, Sirius, Peter, Dorcas, Evan, Barty, Pandora, Dorcas, Marlene, and Lily all stared, scared for the fallout, James just willingly passed the green cone over to the other boy, an adoring smile on his face, seemingly oblivious to his audience.
"What the fuck?" Marlene whispered, her back rested against Dorcas's chest and her jaw on the floor.
"Did he just-?" Lily asked quietly, turning to Remus, who was chuckling.
But Sirius just rolled his eyes. "You two are disgusting," he complained, shaking his head to remind Remus to keep playing with his hair.

3. out of control | words: 2,325 | M for some mild sexual content | jegulus, platonic prongsfoot, some polyamory, implied bartylus, subtle "really read between the lines" rosestarkillerchaser | [early morning <- previous part | next part -> home]
(October, 1982)
James knows that something will go wrong the moment he sees them walking in. It begins when all the blood in his body immediately pools south the moment he lays eyes on Regulus. Regulus with his pale-yet-flushed cheeks. Regulus with his silky hair that falls into his eyes in loose curls. Regulus with his half-unbuttoned shirt, which should be illegal because James can see his chest.
James wants to debauch him.
But he can’t. He can’t because Lily is across the room. He can’t because Sirius is here, and everything is already fragile and incredibly loaded. He can’t because…because…because everything. And he doesn’t know what to do. James has managed to keep everything so very, neatly separate and compartmentalised for so very, very long.
But now he feels like everything is about to explode.
It’s Dorcas’s birthday; the one time when their social circles overlap. Marlene, being Marlene, planned this elaborate event with promises of ‘much lubrication’. Because she’s filthy like that. And because Marlene is Marlene and really likes drama, and Dorcas obviously has her own friends, they’ve managed to convince Regulus to make an appearance.
Regulus, unfortunately, comes attached with Barty Crouch Junior and Evan Rosier. It was the only way they could get Regulus to agree to attend.
And James knows: everything is going to explode.
The music is loud; Marlene has amplified it with a Sonorus charm and James can barely hear himself think. Across the lounge, through the throng of bodies, Lily is behind the makeshift bar brewing cocktails. The ‘Lily Special’, Marlene calls it, tinged with magic that makes you sing or breathe bubbles. Mostly harmless stuff. But Barty has been fighting to get his ‘Barty Special’ behind the bar, which James knows isn’t the best idea. Mainly because of where the ‘Barty Special’ got him last time.
“Lookin’ morose, Potter. All broody.” Marlene elbows him between the ribs. She drops herself down onto the couch beside him and passes him a drink: one of the Lily Specials. James’s agitation is giving Marlene far too much of a thrill, because Marlene is a little shit who gets joy out of other people’s discomfort.
James cautiously sets the drink aside. Though he wants to down it to try and drown his worries, he knows he’s going to need a clear head to avoid future fuck-ups.
“What’s got your pants in a knot?” Marlene asks, conversationally. “Let me guess. Your ex-girlfriend is behind the bar brewing drinks, getting everyone lubricated, a strong, independent woman. Your best friend looks like he wants to murder someone. Maybe you. Maybe his brother. Your boyfriend, his brother, who you happen to be shagging also looks like he wants to murder someone. Maybe his brother. Maybe your ex-girlfriend. More likely you, because you, James Potter, have been avoiding him all night.”
Fuck it. Because she’s right. He has been avoiding Regulus, and Regulus has been furious about it, hitting him with icy-cold stares of death all night. And James? James is weak. James is a coward. James’s Gryffindor lionheart has wilted and died.
Sirius has never seen them together, and James is just not prepared for the fallout.
James downs the entire ‘Lily Special’ cocktail in one go, a smoking, pearlescent concoction. Swallows too much air. Hiccups a glistening, shimmering bubble. The bubble smells like lemon. The cocktail tastes like peach. It’s damned confusing.
Marlene is right. Sirius sits on a the bench by the bay windows with the darkest, angriest expression James has seen on him in a very long time. He’s watching someone across the room. From the looks of things, he’s been watching that someone for a while. Intensely. Hands gripping his cocktail glass, which surprisingly has yet to shatter under the pressure of his grip.
“Does it bother you, Potter, that they actually look like they’re about to fuck,” Marlene asks casually. She takes a sip of her drink, all innocent like, and smiles up at him sweetly.
“They who?” James asks. A bubble escapes his lips when he speaks.
Marlene elbows him again and nods across the room to the spot Sirius is staring at. She’s right again, he realises. They do look like they’re about to…fuck.
Barty has Regulus in his arms, holding him so closely they may as well one one. All tangled limbs. Leg between Regulus’s. They’re kissing. They’re moving together to the music. Grinding. Barty has his face buried in Regulus’s neck. Regulus has his head thrown back. He’s getting off on it, James knows, because James knows that look.
He has taken something. Most likely a ‘Barty Special’.
And of course Sirius wants to murder someone. James had been wrong; Sirius wants to murder Barty. There's darkness, there's anger. He’s most likely plotting just the murder might go down.
“Huh. So I was under the impression that Crouch is dating Rosier. And that you’re dating…baby Black…but that…” Marlene seems to note that James is not upset, he’s merely annoyed, because she shrugs and holds a hand up and says, “Hey, look, I’m not about to judge your sex life. Whatever kinky shit’s going on in your bedroom…or their bedroom…”
“Fuck,” James mutters. The song changes to ‘Back in Black’. He feels the beat pounding like a pulse in his chest; it gives him the internal boost he needs. “Shit. On a disaster scale of 1 to 10?”
“12,” Marlene says firmly. “I reckon, if you don’t want anyone losing an eye or an appendage, I’d intervene, like, ten minutes ago.”
James sighs and scans the room. Evan is leaning up against a wall by the door, shadowed, like he’s trying his damndest to avoid human contact and ensure his own ability to flee. James shoves his way over. “You go get your boyfriend,” he says, “and I’ll go get mine.”
Evan snickers and leans back against the wall, folds his arms over his chest. “Why? I’m enjoying the scene.”
“Look.” James grits his teeth, feels the heat of a memory flush in his cheeks, draining down his neck. He’s probably tinged red, and maybe he could pretend it’s the buzz of the alcohol, but he knows it’s not. And Evan knows it too. “I don’t need anyone…asking questions.”
“Embarrassed?” Evan drawls. “Hogwarts is a distant memory, and yet you’re still…such a Gryffindor. Besides, not the scene I’m enjoying. Not that it they’re not hot and all. How long do you think it’ll take before his head explodes?”
He means Sirius, who is still staring intently at Barty and James. Every once in a while, Sirius looks over at James like James will have a lot to answer for later. After Sirius is done freezing him out.
“I’m not emb—” James groans, frustrated. “I just mean, if you don’t want Sirius having a go at Barty…”
“Barty can handle himself. I’m pretty sure he’s taken Sirius on before.”
James rolls his eyes. He can handle this himself. When he stalks off, he sees out of the corner of his eyes Evan reluctantly following him.
Barty and Regulus are still wrapped around each other. Barty practically hisses when he see’s James. It is not unusual for the territorial heart that resides inside the little freak. It’s more than likely, James figures, that Regulus is upset with him and Barty is protective on his behalf.
Evan wraps his arms around Barty’s waist and pulls him backward, and James carefully works on untangling Regulus’s limbs. Regulus sighs and lays his head on James’s shoulder.
“You’re a bitch,” Regulus says into his neck. They sound like Barty’s words.
He’s drunk, James knows. He’s also some level of high. Cheeks flushed, Regulus kisses James's neck and James has to cut off a moan when Regulus’s hand dips between them and he cups James’s crotch and he massages gently.
“Hey, hey, no. Not here. Sirius is watching,” James murmurs by Regulus’s ear, pushing his hand away. When Regulus makes a fussy sound and tries to leave, James traps him in the circle of his arms.
“You taste like fireworks,” Regulus says, nipping at his chin. He smells sweet, like coconuts and vanilla. His tongue, his lips work a pathway up James’s neck, causing James’s breath and heartbeat to quicken. He can feel it pulse between them.
“Love, what did you take?” James tries not to groan, but Regulus is so damned handsy, which is unusual for Regulus. And stress and arousal have been James’s companions all night. “Let’s go get you a drink…some water.”
James pulls Regulus over to the couch, where Marlene is still planted watching everything unfold with great interest. He tries to deposit Regulus onto the couch, but Regulus doesn’t let go and they go tumbling forwards together.
When Evan arrives with Barty, planting himself between Regulus and Barty for good measure, James notices Sirius storming off across the room.
“Fuck,” he swears, “Evan, get him a—just make sure they don’t do anything stupid.” James races after Sirius, pushing his way through the crowd.
Sirius is sitting on the door step outside smoking, a terrible habit he’s picked up recently. It’s dark outside and the autumn air is fresh with a slight bite to it. Sighing, James drops down next to Sirius and draws his knees to his chest.
Wordlessly, Sirius passes James the cigarette. James takes a drag, coughs up a lung, and passes it back.
“It’s…” he hedges. “...he’s plastered. I think…Barty gave him something.”
“Barty Special,” Sirius comments. Takes another long drag from the cigarette. “He’s such a fucking arsehole.” He casts a sidelong glance at James and rolls his eyes. “I’m not mad at you, so you can stop looking like I’m going to rip your head of. I know what they’re like. Everyone knows what they're fucking like."
Letting out a long breath, James leans back, laying down on the ground, half in the house, half out of the house. He can hear the beat of the music in the distance, the chatter of voices merging into a single, shapeless blob.
“I gave you my blessing, didn’t I?” Sirius says solemnly.
James blinks up at him. “Um…no? I think your words were, 'I don’t want anything to do with this'?” Sirius had frozen him out for a long time when James had admitted that he was quickly and hopelessly falling for Regulus.
“Well, I maintain that. I am not in the least bit interested in details.”
“And I, too, am not in the least bit interested in giving you any details,” James agrees eagerly, sitting up.
“Good, I’m glad we’re on the same page.”
“Okay, so, what’s eating you, Pads?”
Sirius lays his head down on James’s shoulder and sighs a long, drawn out sigh. He tucks himself under James’s arm, snuggling close, staring up at the night sky, which is clear and speckled with stars. “Can’t see me, this time of the year,” he says.
He doesn’t want to talk about it, James knows. He’s bothered about Regulus—Regulus, who still won’t talk to him—and it has nothing to do with James, apparently. Maybe it doesn’t even have anything to do with Barty? It likely has to do with whatever occurred between the brother way back after their parents died. Something they won’t talk about.
James nudges Sirius and Sirius makes a fussy sound, so remarkably like Regulus that it leaves a weird, uncomfortable feeling in the pit of James’s stomach. “Well, what did you go with? Boils? Bat-bogey? Good ol’ fashioned quartering?”
“Death by a thousand lashes,” Sirius says darkly. “Slowly.”
James hums. He pulls Sirius down over to the lawn and they lay on the ground again. The sky is clearer like this; it gives Sirius comfort.
It gives Regulus comfort too. They’re similar like that, though they’ll never admit it.
“Barty isn’t half-bad,” James comments. “Sometimes I think you guys’d get along smashingly if…if you didn’t hate each other so much.”
“You’re nuts,” Sirius mutters. “That doesn’t make any sense. Too many blows to the head in quidditch practice, Prongsie. Gotta get you guys helmets.”
“He’s just…weirdly loyal.”
James doesn’t need to look at Sirius to know that Sirius is rolling his eyes. “Tried to literally murder me kinda loyal. Or you forgotten that so quickly?”
“Violent tendencies aside, he’s okay,” James says. He can’t explain it. Barty is insane. The kind of chaos where you’ll always see him coming, you just won’t know what he’s about to do. He’s territorial. He loves to bait people for the drama.
But James…sometimes he just doesn’t mind Barty. Sometimes he likes him. And maybe it’s…
James clears his throat and tries to shake the images away. It feels wrong thinking about it around Sirius. The way he can feel the heat in his blood rising and spreading and pooling. Feel the heat in the memory of those hands on his skin.
“I won’t say anything,” Sirius says quietly. He’s staring up at the sky, tracing the constellations, James knows. He won’t look at James because Sirius does not do feelings. He's practically allergic to them.
“He’s okay,” James says. “He’s good. Regulus is good. He…got the job at the apothecary. Still plays quidditch on the weekends. Oh, he’s trying to grow this rare herb at his house for these potions he’s brewing at the apothecary. And then his cat ate it, and we had to take it to the animal healer. It was this whole thing.”
James turns, looks at Sirius, who’s resting with his head on James’s arm. “I tell him about you,” he says gently. He talks to Regulus about Sirius, and Regulus doesn’t say anything. Much like Sirius, he is always quiet, but he always listens.
Sirius hums and closes his eyes. He rolls into James’s arms. He smells like smoke, and he’s a little bit tipsy. Sirius won’t say anything, James knows. The way that Regulus won’t say anything. Because both brothers are too stubborn. Too proud.
And maybe that’s wherein the problem lies.

One thing I’ve come to understand about the Marauders’ era via writing it is that it will implode. So long as it’s cannon compliment everything will fall apart. Almost every single character is a ticking time bomb.
And with that in mind, some of these characters are worse than others. Barty, the unfortunate soul, has one of the longest counters as he turns to the darkside. Evan has insurmountably less time and he follows Barty into the darkside. Regulus will only pull himself out of it before he himself explodes. Pandora has her own timer, ticking at a different speed as she stays out of the war and yet is her own downfall.
Then there’s the good side: Marlene a grenade with ten seconds left after the pin is pulled with the final picture, thrown away just to destroy, the first to go and unable to save anyone. Dorcas follows in an explosion so furious she has to be contained by Voldemort. Mary was the lucky one, the dud of the group, does not go but has to watch before she disappears.
Remus and Sirius have the gut wrenching time that freezes for too many years until they’re rewired and set to go again, then when they do they take the other down with them.
Lily and James, the two most tragic souls, have had the timer on them since they were born and were not able to outrun their own implosion. Their detonation not by accident but by the malevolence of someone they once loved. What did they do for their fate to be simply a few seconds from happening?
And then… you think about it. Some are worse than others, right? What happens when you take everyone else down with you? What happens when you ruin everything by simply running out of time? And so I thought, if some are worse, than there must be a worst.
Peter, an atom bomb in a field of dynamite. Detonating above the ground, destroying everything in his path before he even meets his fate, then rolling wave after wave of slow, agonizing fallout everywhere he didn’t initially raze. If there was really only ever one ticking time bomb, it was Peter. Peter was their downfall, every single one of their deaths and horrors and pain was Peter. The second he was set to blow every single fate was sealed. Barty could have never been forgiven; Evan could have never grown old; Regulus could have never revealed the Dark Lord’s secrets; Marlene could have never protected the others; Dorcas could have never gotten revenge; Mary could have never died with the people she loved the most; Remus could have never been happy again; Sirius could have never found real love again; James and Lily could have never lived out their stories. All because of Peter’s destruction, his own timer set since he was placed with the Marauders. The atom bomb in dynamite, waiting to destroy more than could have ever been conceived.
Every single one of them were time bombs… but Peter. Peter was the worst.

Thinking about Harry choosing Sirius’s side instead of James’s in the Prongsfoot infidelity post-bathroom fallout & eventual Jily divorce. Refusing to acknowledge his dad, living exclusively with Lily, and spending weekends with Sirius while James is left with his guilt.
Yessssssss this is DELICIOUS. Maybe at first he doesn't know what happened, all he knows is that Mum and Dad aren't talking to Padfoot anymore and Padfoot isn't coming around and what the fuck???? So of course Harry steals his dad's cloak and sneaks out in the middle of the night to go to Sirius's, but he finds out that Sirius isn't even there, it's just Marlene and the kids. Harry does eventually track Sirius down after a few nights of sneaking out, and refuses to leave even when Sirius says he can't be there because James will be upset.
Eventually the whole truth of what happened comes out, Jily eventually divorce, and Harry is so ANGRY. He absolutely moves in exclusively with Lily but spends as much time with Sirius as possible, even when his mum doesn't want him to. And he refuses to speak to or visit James, who is heartbroken. DELICIOUS.

“I think,” said Marlene carefully, a smile slowly growing on her face. “I think we’re going to be the biggest band in the fucking world.” or  It's the summer of 2005 and MARAUDERS is headlining Warped Tour. Humid, hungover, and ready to start writing their next album, Marlene’s dreams of a semi-relaxing summer evaporate when an unexpected sibling reunion throws a wrench between two of the biggest bands on the tour. Outside of cleaning up the emotional fallout of their band-mates, Marlene and Dorcas forge an unlikely friendship in greenrooms and rest-stops, their bond evading claims of being strictly platonic as they fall for one another in a blur of sound-checks, shows, and sunburn. Between states and cities and behind make-shift stages, the pair traverse the great expanse of America as the clock counts down to the end of summer, and to the cold hard return to reality.

The Story of Us
pairing: remus lupin x fem!reader
genre: fluff
el's thoughts: this is apart of my speak now event! requested by @cheezydarling
Tumblr media
Y/N walked into the great hall, eyes scanning over the Gryffindor table looking for Remus. She skipped to him with a smile and placed her hands on his shoulders. “Hi, darling.”
“Hey.” Remus didn’t turn around and smile up at her, he just kept his focus on his plate.
“I thought we were going to the Black Lake for lunch?”
“I changed my mind.”
Y/N’s smile faltered but she composed herself quickly. Not quick enough for the other boys not to notice. “Okay, no worries. I’ll go sit with the girls then. See you at the library?”
Remus hummed and went back to eating.
Y/N walked to sit with the girls and sighed.
“What was that?” Lily asked.
“I don’t know… He’s been acting weird for a while. I don’t know if I did something wrong or what.”
Marlene rolled her eyes, “He’s being a jerk. You two are the lucky ones. You’re supposed to be in love and get married and have little Lupins running around the place.”
“Marls, shut up,” Mary sighed, “please.”
Lily placed a comforting hand on Y/N’s. “Just, take it one step at a time… I’m sure it will work itself out.”
~
Y/N stood in the back of the class, her face a canvas of emotions. Her usual seat next to Remus was taken by Peter. Taking a deep breath, she pulled her shoulders back and walked to the front where Marlene sat.
“What happened-”
“Don’t even ask right now. I’ll tell you later,” Y/N muttered and rested her chin in her hand.
Slughorn droned on and on about amortentia and assigned each pair seated together to make the potion before class ended. Marlene stood up to get the ingredients and Y/N turned a few pages in her book to the instructions.
Marlene came back with her arms full, she placed everything down and asked for the instructions.
The pair got to work, adding and crushing ingredients in turn. They knew they were done once the liquid turned pink and started steaming.
"You go first, you have the problems."
Y/N rolled her eyes, "Thanks, Marls." She leaned closer to take a deep breath of the potion. The strong, overwhelming scent of chocolate, parchment, and a distinct aroma she could only describe as Remus. "Yeah, as I expected."
"Well, we know nothing has changed on your end."
"That was my concern, to begin with. I wonder what his potion smells like." Y/N sighed and turned back to look at the boy in question. Remus was already looking at her but quickly looked away once she turned around. She felt frustration bubble up inside her.
Marlene placed a hand on the girl's shoulder and gave her a warm, sympathetic smile. "Your story will play out the way it needs to be. And I have a feeling it's meant to include him."
Y/N smiled, "I don't know, relationships will come and go I guess. I just don't know what went wrong or what page he's on anymore."
"Have you tried talking to him?" Marlene asked.
"Yes… No. Kinda," the y/e/c-eyed girl sighed and rested her head on the desk next to the cauldron. “He just keeps avoiding me.”
“Talk to him. That’s all I can recommend. Miscommunication will lead to a fallout. Don’t let it get that far.”
~
Y/N walked towards the Black Lake and smiled softly at the sight of the marauders all sitting together, laughing at some, probably stupid, joke. Once she got close enough to the group she called out for Remus. He turned back to look at her and his bright smile dimmed slightly causing James to smack him over the head. “Mate, just go.”
She smiled at the bespectacled boy in thanks as Remus stood slowly, dusting his pant legs off from the grass. The pair walked further away from the group with a heavy silence over them.
“So…” Remus said as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
“Let’s not beat around the bush, Rem. What’s going on?” Y/N chuckled slightly to ease her question. “‘Cause I miss you like hell and it hurts not having you around. You trying your hardest to avoid me like that… Wasn’t a very cool move. Did it hurt you as much as it hurt me?”
“Yes,” he blurted out. “Yes it hurt, and I’m sorry. I know I’ve been a complete twat.”
She snorted, “That’s an understatement.”
“I know, I know. Forgive me, Y/N/N. Please.”
“You know I will, but I need to know what caused you to do such a stupid thing in the first place.”
Remus stared down at her intensely, his mind racing at the thought of telling her his secret. Before he could convince himself otherwise, the words tumbled out of his mouth nearly unintelligible. “I’m a werewolf.”
Y/N stared blankly at him for a moment before smacking his arm. “You idiot. That’s why you were avoiding me?” His voice was raised and loud enough for the other marauders to barely make out what she said.
“Well, I didn’t know how to tell you… It’s not every day someone finds out their boyfriend is a monster.”
“First off, werewolves are not monsters. Secondly, I already knew you were a werewolf, my love.”
Remus’ eyes widened, “What?”
“It wasn’t hard to put together in all honesty. We’ve been dating for a year and we’ve been friends even longer. I pieced it together quick enough.”
“You knew and still said yes to dating me?”
“No, you actually misunderstood me. I said no, but you dated me anyway.” Y/N gave him a dead stare and rolled her eyes with a smile. “Yes, Rem. I knew and said yes to being your girlfriend.”
“Why?”
“Because you, Remus Lupin, are the kindest most bravest person I know and there isn’t anyone else I’d want to call my boyfriend. There isn’t anyone else who I’d listen to as they talk about the latest book they’ve read. There isn’t anyone else who’d I like to get piggyback rides through the halls.” She leaned closer and wrapped her arms around his neck, causing him to bring his head closer to hers. “I love you, Remus, for you. And being a werewolf doesn’t change that.”
He sighed in contentment and brought his lips to hers in a sweet kiss.
“I love you,” Y/N hummed against his lips.
Remus smiled, “I love you.” He pulled back and groaned, “I owe James five galleons now.”

Okay, hear me out.
I want to write a fanfic where Remus is the one who goes horcrux hunting and dies drowning. First of all, romantic moonwater where Regulus talks about Kreacher to Remus, and in an attempt to stop Regulus from doing it, he goes before Regulus. He thinks he's stronger and more competent since he's older and a werewolf. Obviously he dies and Regulus is fucking devastated.
Unrequited wolfstar, too. He hears about this from Regulus, and he's so mad at Regulus for letting it happen. His moony. Dead. Because his incompetent little brother, whom he trusted to date his moony, let the guy go on a suicide mission, so they had an even bigger fallout. In the midst of his grief, he found comfort in Marlene, who helped him stand up back to his feet. James and Peter helped, too, of course, but the way Marlene held him was so different. After graduating, he went on to marry Marlene and fight in the order.
On the other hand, James was just as upset at the death of his friend. But he couldn't do anything about it. He did a lot of thinking and observing. He watched Sirius cry and scream at the mans death, and he watched Regulus walk the halls like a zombie. He made it his mission to kill voldemort with his own bare hands.
Peter was worried and torn between joining the death eaters and the order. He lost his best friend's in some way or another. To death, to revenge, and to grief. He decided that he's going to follow James, like he always had. Just not on the same level, as he was kept grounded by his other slytherin friends. Who knew what's going on and persuaded him into being the rational one in his friend group for once.
Marlene tried to get the marauders back to their feet. She slapped James out of his muttering about vengeance, told Peter to man up and help his friends, and helped Sirius out of his mourning. She would push them all into the correct path, even if one of them would eventually stray away. Yet her mother went on and on about her involvement in the war, telling her to just settle and let the men do it. She will marry Sirius, discarding her past with Dorcas for a play pretend household.
Lily and Mary would also help the marauders collect themselves after their own moment of mourning. They would help gather information and resources for the order and make sure that everyone else knows what's going on and doesn't push the wrong buttons. They would date secretly, because being in love and happy would be selfish of them when their friends were at their lowest.
Meanwhile, the slytherin skittles aside from Regulus would move on from Remus' death quickly. They knew Remus, but Regulus was the one who's alive, so they're more thankful for his death than anything.
Regulus would slowly go insane. Everything reminds him of Remus. He lost the person who understands him, who he loves the touch of, someone who was connected to him by soul and mind. Now he's empty. Just a shell of what he used to be. All of him gone, following where Remus was. He would go on a rampage, getting incredibly violent and unstable. He would then start killing people. Whoever he decides deserves it, he would kill them. He will marry Pandora to continue the Black lineage, but she would only be helping him hide all the bodies he killed. He would be against voldemort for pushing Remus to death, and would hate the order because Sirius would be in it and it would be a constant reminder of Remus. He would rarely attend the meetings and never go on the missions voldemort tells him to go. He would only start going more often when Barty and Evan join and swears to himself he's going to protect the both of them at all costs.
Evan will become a death eater as well. He at first would gaslight Peter into joining them, but when he hears about Remus' death and watched the way it affected Regulus, James and Sirius. He makes Peter think through his actions, and forces him into helping James. He will marry a pureblood woman from obligation (Genevieve my beloved), and do the bare minimum in playing his part ad a follower.
Barty would become a death eater too. He would be absolutely obsessed with the dark lord, which only makes Regulus mad and Evan annoyed. But if it means he could ruin his father and everyone around the man, he would do it. He was incredibly excited when he received the dark mark and kept on talking about all the things he would do in the name of the dark lord. But at one point, he would watch his mother cry when she saw the dark mark and soon regretted his decision.
Dorcas will join the order. As a half blood, she valued her life over anything else. She has a little sister to protect, and a friend group to look after. But she would dread every order meeting. Because Marlene is right there, as beautiful as ever, but she was not the one who held her hand. She would be active in the order, helping Lily manage everything while still keeping touch with her friends. Despite their differences, she still respected them and cared for them. Regulus and Evan were suffering in their forced position, and Barty had regret his decisions after all, why would she hate her best friends? She would help comfort Pandora, who often times struggled. All while ignoring her own health.
Pandora would be passive. She wouldn't join the death eaters, but would be a follower by association. She was deeply concerned by Regulus' violent tendencies, though Regulus would rather kill himself than hurt Pandora. She was worried by the tired expression Evan constantly had and felt pity for Barty whenever he would stare at his mark and talk about his mother. She will make sure that all her friends were safe. She will take care of Regulus, check in on Barty, and have talks with Evans wife. Pandora would fall into deeper pressure, to bear an heir, to spread the Black family influence while her dear best friend repeats a generational cycle.
The fic will tell all about their relationships and time during the war. The struggles, the fighting, the betrayal, the deaths. All in different perspectives. Its a simple retelling, and a show of curses.

Daisy paused as she stepped over the threshold. The house was quiet, shrouded in an eerie stillness which was only disrupted as Remus stepped in through the door behind her, shutting it with a click. It was an odd feeling, one she hadn't felt in months, as number twelve Grimmauld Place had become unrecognisable since she and Sirius had decided to give it another go. They no longer danced around one another, no longer made clunky excuses to not spend too long in a room in case it got awkward, and no longer spent their nights in separate bedrooms.
Or at least they hadn't been, though something told her as her eyelids begged for her to find something soft to crash into that it might not be the soft scarlet bedspread she’d come to know that she’d be sleeping on today. It hadn't been easy. Sirius still had his frustrations about being forced to stay home, and she still felt put out by being on the verge of a second war, feeling like an unfair lot given they'd barely survived the first, but they were making it work. Or they had been until last night.
‘It’s quiet,’ she remarked. It was an obvious statement. Remus, who’d been right behind her as they’d headed into the kitchen, was sure to notice the lack of people, or rather one person.
‘S’pose everyone’s at work,’ he said as he moved to make himself a cup of tea, washing his hand down his face as though that would stimulate him enough until he could crash again. It wasn’t even that guard duty was an arduous task; it was just a boring one. Normally she would’ve spent it talking to whoever she was with. And she was sure if Remus had gone with Tonks last night as he was supposed to, they would’ve spent the night doing more than sitting in silence. But she’d begged Tonks to swap and fled the house to try and avoid another argument or avoid the feeling of being shut out, only to find Remus wasn’t in the mood for entertaining her either, an errant stray insult he’d caught in the crossfire seemingly stinging him.
Daisy wanted to point out that no one usually dropped by in the morning, their pretences at keeping on with normal life imperative until war really descended, but she didn’t bother. Though he’d mellowed as the night had waned on, Remus seemed to want nothing to do with their fallout, and so getting him to speak about Sirius, what he was doing, and if he was mad at her felt like trying to get blood from a stone. Instead she muttered something about going to bed and left the kitchen, trudging up the stairs like a man headed for the gallows.
The only sound was her own breathing and the creak of ancient wooden floors beneath her feet as she took herself to the top of the house. It was only when she was between the Black brothers’ bedrooms that she hesitated after all; did she have the right to barge in there? It was ultimately his room; she’d merely moved in. And what if he was sleeping? She’d run away to avoid the consequences, and was she now really going to waltz back in like nothing had happened and disturb him? Or worse, was she setting herself up for round two? As a yawn crept up on her, she wondered if she had the capacity to go through another one.
Then she heard movement, shuffling beyond the door which sounded like Sirius moving around his room, probably getting up for the day, and without thinking she darted inside Regulus’ room and closed the door. The room was in darkness. The green velvet curtains pulled shut for God knows how long, but she didn’t care; darkness hid the wave of tears as they started to trickle down her face. She brushed them off; after all, what did she have to be sad about? It was her fault she was in this mess.
If only she could keep her big gob shut. As she peeled off her jeans, leaving them in a heap on the floor, she thought about the order meeting last night, where everything had derailed.
Sirius was tidying up, or rather, he was directing the various cups and plates that littered the long kitchen table into the sink with a flick of his wand whilst he peered through the crack in the kitchen door, trying to spy Remus, who’d keenly volunteered to see all the order members out, which was no surprise given Daisy could hear Tonks's voice still in the hall.
However, she wasn’t focused on that. She was too bothered about what she'd learnt at the meeting. That Harry had given up on his Occlumency lessons. She knew why, of course. After all, she wasn’t sure that she’d like to spend an hour a week having her brain fiddled with by someone she didn’t like, but Dumbledore had made it explicitly clear what was expected of him, what was important for him to do. He’d been fighting to be heard and included in the war effort, and he’d fallen at the first hurdle. He’d let himself become vulnerable, and that terrified her.
Her mind was still on it when Remus slipped back in, scowling as Sirius straightened up and pretended like he’d not been spying on them.
‘What are you, thirteen?’ Remus said, rolling his eyes as he took a seat back at the table.
‘Let’s hope not because you didn’t have any pull when we were thirteen,’ Sirius retorted, taking a seat opposite them, ‘right Dais?’
‘Mm,’ she said, her gaze still locked on the cabinet behind him, though she wasn’t really seeing it.
‘What’s up with you?’ Remus said, nudging her with his elbow that made her come to, trying to shake those endless worries flashing through her mind as she said, ‘nothing.’
‘Oh yeah, pull the other,’ Sirius said, concern dancing across his face as the weight didn’t lift from her shoulders. Daisy glanced between them and sighed, ‘I think I'm going to write to Harry.’
‘Why?’ Sirius asked, though he was sure he knew where it was headed.
‘Why?’ Daisy scoffed, ‘he ditched his Occlumency lessons!’
‘It’s not that big of a deal,’ Sirius shrugged.
‘’Not that big of a deal?’ Daisy baulked, ‘it’s the only thing Dumbledore insisted he do! Do you know the risk-’
‘Of course I know the risks!’ Sirius snapped.
‘Daisy’s right. Maybe we should speak to him,’ Remus said tentatively, earning himself a scowl as Sirius said, ‘And making him go and grovel to Snivilly is the way to go?’
‘It’s not grovelling,’ Daisy scoffed.
‘No? Are we forgetting he’s the grown-up here? That Dumbledore insisted he tutor him, and he’s the one who’s backed out of that? You heard him, ‘If Potter chooses to continue his lessons, I will be there until then he knows where to find me,’ like he was in the same year as Harry. It’s pathetic!’ Sirius said.
Remus shrugged in agreement, and Daisy looked between them, infuriated. Didn’t they get it? It wasn’t about how things looked anymore. Who was right or wrong. They'd done that in the first war, and it had barely won them anything. Voldemort wasn’t thinking about what was right, whether using a child for his own gains was right morally. And she’d be damned if she let pride stop Harry from getting the protection he needed.
‘I don’t care about what Snape said. He might be a dick, but he holds the cards, and if it means Harry will be protected, I don’t care. Or have you forgotten Christmas?’ Daisy said. It had been a good one, time for the three of them to spend together. The only thing that had marred it was seeing Arthur’s broken body trying to smile through Christmas pudding and charades. It had been sitting with five terrified children as they waited for news, good or bad. It was seeing Harry scared, fearful he’d hurt him even though he was four hundred miles away at the time of the attack. The connection between him and the dark lord was evident; he didn’t need any more help when it came to exploiting it.
‘I haven’t forgotten anything,’ Sirius said tightly.
‘Well then you can see why—’ She attempted to reply, but he cut her off.
‘But neither has Snape. And if he wants to win this war as much as he says he does then he needs to suck it up just as much as Harry. Why should my godson have to beg him to do his job?’ Sirius said.
‘Your godson?’ she mocked, ‘this isn’t about your stupid male egos –’
‘This isn’t about ego,’ Sirius said angrily.
‘Let’s just calm down, yeah,’ Remus said, but they ignored him. Their eyes locked on one another as if he wasn’t even in the room. That was the thing about rekindling romances. Everything fit back into place in an instant. Kisses felt familiar, embraces felt as if they’d never gone away and arguments were easy to slip into as old issues evolved into new ones. It just irked Sirius that it was Severus Fucking Snape who was still causing friction between them this many years on.
‘Isn't it?’ Daisy challenged, ‘you’re really trying to tell me you’re not taking this one bit personally?’
‘No,’ Sirius lied.
‘That this isn’t something to do with you being stuck in this house and putting up with Snape’s digs when he should be helping Harry?’ she said disbelievingly.
‘No,’ Sirius said, ‘I’m not taking it personally because it’s Snape. I’m taking it personally because he’s letting his issues with us stop him from helping a child.’
‘Can you blame him?’ Daisy asked.
‘What?’ Sirius replied, his brows knitting together at the insinuation.
‘We weren’t exactly nice to him,’ she said.
‘You mean me and James,’ he corrected, his jaw tightening as he finished.
‘I didn’t say that,’ Daisy protested.
‘But that’s what you meant,’ he grunted.
‘I’m just saying I understand why he doesn’t like us –‘
‘You realise you’re defending a Death Eater,’ Sirius spat.
‘Ex-death eater,’ Daisy said, though he had a point.
‘Debatable,’ Sirius snorted.
‘Dumbledore trusts him,’ Remus added, making her defence feel more excusable.
‘Because we’ve never been wrong about someone before,’ Sirius said darkly. Both of them shifted uncomfortably, flashes of Peter flooding Daisy’s brain as she tried to push it away.
‘Anyway,’ she said, trying to ignore the guilt gnawing at her, ‘you saw how affected Harry was after seeing that memory of us by the lake. How do you think Snape felt reliving it?
‘He hexed you! Called you mudbloods, remember? Not even your own sister defended that, and now what? You’re holding a torch for him twenty years on,’ Sirius shouted, pushing back from the bench as anger bubbled through him. He couldn’t believe his ears, how she could defend him after everything. Suddenly he felt sixteen again, watching her storm away from him and James as the reality that they’d gone too far this time sank in. That feeling came back as she pushed the bench back and stood too, fury in her eyes at his mocking.
‘Really?’ she scoffed, ‘and you talk about Snape acting as if he's Harry's age. This isn’t about who did what!’
‘Look, let’s just stop, yeah,’ Remus said, tugging on her sleeve in the hopes that breaking their eye contact would melt some of the tension. Instead Daisy merely looked his way with a scowl as she spat, ‘of course you’ve gone quiet again.’
‘Oi, don’t take it out on Moony,’ Sirius warned. Remus said nothing, folding his arms across his chest as he took umbrage with being chastised.
‘I’m not taking it out on Moony!’ she shrieked, ‘I just want to protect Harry and –’
‘Grovelling is the way to do that?’ he scoffed.
‘Newsflash: taking the high road doesn’t get you anywhere. The other side isn’t sticking to morals or etiquette. That’s why Harry's a target in the first place. And I'm not going to let pride stop him from getting help!’
‘Like me, you mean?’ Sirius said.
‘Would you stop with the pity party? This isn’t about you; it’s about Harry!’ she challenged, her tone begging him to see reason.
‘Yeah,’ he challenged, his eyes narrowing as he watched her, ‘or is this about you hating the fact someone else other than you has a say in Harry’s life? Or that he actually listens to me.’
‘He listens to you because you see each other as James.’ Daisy spat, venom coating her words so that they hit like barbs. Sirius faltered, his scowl softening enough to be noticeable; otherwise, Remus wouldn’t have whispered, ‘Dais, stop it.’
But Daisy wasn’t listening. She was too hurt. Hurt that no one seemed to be listening to her. That trying to keep her family from falling apart only seemed to be like screaming into the void. All she had ever wanted to do was keep Harry safe, and it was becoming increasingly harder to do so, made harder by the fact that no one seemed to be listening. Harry seemed to get himself into trouble at every turn and she couldn’t even steer him in the right direction because he didn’t listen to her anymore. He listened to Sirius because he filled a void she couldn’t. Sirius wanted to keep Harry safe the way he’d wanted to keep James safe, by fighting alongside him. That hadn't worked. And she was terrified it wasn’t going to again.
‘I actually see him for him. Not an extension of them. Probably why I didn’t go running off the moment we lost them, defending my hurt pride and ego by being stupid,’ she ranted. Though the moment the words fell from her mouth, silence descended.
There was no quick retort, no challenge to her argument, just silence. Sirius looked as though she’d slapped him.
‘Pads, I’m sorry,’ she whispered hurriedly, but he was already climbing out of his seat and headed towards the door, ‘I didn’t mean it; I just –’
‘Let him go,’ Remus said, tugging on her sleeve to stop her as she tried to follow. Sirius slammed the door behind him, causing a thunderous rattle to echo throughout the house until it petered out, leaving silence in its wake.
That silence was all that could be heard throughout the house now as she lay in Regulus’ bed trying to block out the memories of last night in the hopes of some sleep. Eventually it became too hard to keep her eyelids open, but as she fell into a fitful slumber, Sirius’ broken expression was the only thing she could keep her mind on.
When Daisy awoke, it was dark, the curtains still doing an excellent job at blocking out the world enough for her not to know if it was day or night, though the clock on the bedside table told her it was well into the evening. That didn’t surprise her given that most of the morning had been spent tossing and turning until she’d finally hit a deeper sleep. But she was wired again now, the moments of peace fleeting as thoughts of Sirius and their argument returned. With a sigh she got up and pushed the curtains open, peering into the empty, overgrown backyard. It was still light out, and a glimpse at an old, broken patio set made her yearn for days gone by when they’d spend summer evenings in the Potter’s vast backyard until it got too cold to sit outside.
There’d be no dining al fresco tonight. In fact, she found she wasn’t even hungry, her stomach too knotted to contemplate keeping anything down. No, the only thing that would settle her would be fixing this between her and Sirius. So, with trepidation, she made her way across the hall and knocked. There was no answer, but her heart sped up again anyway.
She knocked again. Nothing.
Either he wasn’t in his room or he simply wasn’t answering her. Which was worse; she didn’t know. Yet to her surprise she found herself feeling relief. When she’d run last night, she’d figured it was because she was avoiding him, but now it felt as though it was because she wanted to fix it so that when she did eventually throw herself on his mercy, she’d have a solution to their problem. And that gave her an idea.
Once her bag was packed, she headed downstairs. She didn’t find anyone around, unless one counted Kreacher, whom she could hear pottering around down in the pantry, whittering away to himself with a glee that was rather out of character, but that was what she was hoping for. She was going to leave a note.
It wasn’t very long, but she hoped it would explain it all as she placed it on the kitchen table and headed towards the front door. She was quiet as she went, hoping not to draw attention to herself.
‘Going somewhere?’ she heard a voice say as her hand touched the latch. Daisy turned to find Sirius standing at the bottom of the stairs watching her, his eyes flicking to the bag on her shoulder with suspicion.
‘Oh, um, yeah, actually… I was thinking of going to Hogsmeade,’ she admitted, stumbling to explain as he looked at her sceptically, ‘I thought I might be able to sort this Occlumency problem. I figured Harry might ignore my letters, and Snape too.’
‘Of course,’ Sirius said, ‘what’s best for Harry and all that.’
‘Look, about last night I didn’t mean anything by—’
‘And sneaking out was for whose benefit?’ he asked, cutting her off. Daisy faltered; whatever argument she’d had locked and loaded was knocked off kilter for a moment before she recalibrated and retorted simply, ‘I thought you weren’t talking to me after last night.’
‘I haven’t seen you,’ he protested.
‘I knocked on your door,’ she said, leaving the door behind as she was pulled into the argument.
‘This morning?’ he queried, ‘I heard you outside, but you didn’t knock.’
‘I meant this afternoon,’ she said, cringing at the fact that he’d heard her lurking about this morning.
‘I’ve been down here looking after Buckbeak; he’s hurt himself. Did you bother checking if I was in my room or not?’ he asked.
‘No, but—’
‘No, you just thought the worst of me, obviously,’ he tutted, heading into the kitchen with her hot on his heels, her bag slung by the stairwell all but forgotten.
‘No, I didn’t,’ she snapped, watching as he moved around the kitchen nonchalantly, filling the kettle as if they were about to sit down to an evening cuppa and not have a slanging match.
‘Well, I don’t know why not,’ he retorted as he moved past her, putting the blackened kettle on the hob and turning the flame up, 'I mean, you said as much last night.’
‘I didn’t mean it!’ she replied as he turned back to her.
‘Didn’t you?’ he asked, folding his arms across his chest as he rested back against the countertop top and watched her. ‘I mean I did think it was too good to be true how you just forgave me.’
‘There was nothing to forgive,’ she said, ‘I said I never believed what happened. And I know you weren’t thinking straight then. The grief, it got to us all; I know that.’
‘So why don’t you trust me?’ he probed, grey eyes scrutinising her face closely.
‘I do,’ she vowed.
‘But not when it comes to Harry?’ Sirius said quickly.
Daisy sighed and dropped her head back, closing her eyes so that she didn't have to see him, if only for a moment, so she could think. She trusted Sirius with her life. She trusted him to look after her and Harry, but if she was truthful, she was struggling. Because she’d been there. Harry’s whole life he’d had her in his corner, trying to do what was best. Even if she had made missteps, it was only ever through trying to do what was best for Harry. And though she knew Sirius adored his godson, sometimes she worried he didn’t see the boy in front of him.
‘Well?’ Sirius pressed, her silence worrying him.
‘It’s not like that,’ Daisy said finally opening her eyes and looking at him, her voice hesitant, ‘it’s complicated.’
‘Is it?’ he asked, his heart sinking, ‘or are you his parent, and I’m just his godfather?’
‘I’m not trying to shut you out,’ she said, moving towards him, her hands resting on his folded arms as he looked away, his jaw tight and his lips turned into a scowl. ‘I’ve just got so used to being it. Mum and Dad. The only thing each other had.’
Sirius looked at her guiltily as those words slipped out.
‘I’m trying, honestly I am, but it’s not easy. He’s all we have left of them, and I’m just trying to keep him safe,’ she said. At that whatever sympathy she had elicited from Sirius dried up, his eyes narrowing as he scoffed and pulled away and said, ‘and I’m not?’
‘No, that’s not what I meant,’ she sighed as he moved to the kettle, which was whistling for attention. Daisy proceeded, ‘but you think that telling him not to carry on with his Occlumency lessons is safe. You saw what happened to Arthur, what Dumbledore said – if he can see one way, so can Voldemort –
‘I know that,’ Sirius said, taking the kettle off the hob and turning it off with a flick of his wand. Daisy wished he would look at her, that they could get through this without shouting or ignoring each other, and her frustrations played out as her voice got shriller, protesting, ‘so he needs protecting! We all do!’
With that Sirius turned, slamming the kettle onto the table so hard it spattered water onto the wood. Daisy jumped, watching it spread out before she looked up at him, his eyes hard and his jaw tense. They both fell quiet for a moment, their chests heaving as they tried to keep civil. Though his voice was still tight as he grunted, ‘It’s war, Dais.’
‘Yeah, and last time I lost everything,’ she said, her voice breaking at the end. Sirius dropped his gaze, but she moved into it, placing her hands on his chest until he looked at her, his grey eyes sad and sorrowful. ‘I’m trying my best to keep you all safe. You’re safe when you’re here. Harry is safe at school as long as he keeps up with his lessons.'
‘And what about you?’ Sirius challenged, ‘When you’re going out on order business? When something might happen and I’m here on the sidelines. Don’t you think I worry? That I care about Harry being safe. I have concerns too, Dais.’
‘I know that,’ she said.
‘Do you?’ he said, stepping from her grasp, ‘because it feels like I’m second fiddle. That we’re not a team.’
‘We are,’ Daisy protested.
‘But at the end of the day, you get the final say; is that it?’ he challenged, raising an eyebrow as Daisy struggled to give an answer. Sirius scoffed, ‘I knew it. And I suppose, why not? What am I gonna do stuck in here?
He was starting to rant but at that moment the door swung open, hitting the wall with a bang as Remus appeared looking frantic as he said, ‘there you two are!’
‘Rem now’s not a good time,’ Daisy said.
‘Why’s that, Dais?’ Sirius mocked, ‘scared he’s going to side with me.’
‘No,’ she snapped, glaring at her other half, ‘I just think we need to discuss it alone, that’s all.’
‘We don’t have time for discussions,’ Remus said, perplexed at their lack of haste. When they stared at him blankly, he looked between them confusedly, offering a, ‘Hello? We’ve got to go.’
‘Go?’ Daisy asked, ‘go where?’
'Haven't you heard?’ he asked with a frown. Sirius moved in behind her, watching the other man closely. Something was up.
‘Heard what?’ Daisy asked.
‘Harry’s missing,’ Remus said flatly.
‘What?!’ Sirius exclaimed, but Daisy fell silent. She could feel her stomach drop, her heartbeat hammering in her ears, which made it hard to hear anything that was going on as worries flooded through her. She barely registered it as they went on talking.
‘Snape sent a message to the order,’ Remus explained, ‘he said Umbridge caught Harry in her office trying to call here through the Floo Network. He seems to think Sirius has been…taken hostage.’
‘Why does he think that?’ Sirius asked.
‘I don’t know. I’m assuming he’s had another vision or something. One like Arthur’s maybe,’ Remus speculated. Daisy was barely listening until that point. She was too busy looking at Sirius, who was locked in, ready for whatever was being thrown at them calmly and rationally, whilst her brain went into overdrive. She could tell it was serious from the fact he didn’t make a face or remark when Snape’s name was dropped into the conversation. Though at the mention of the attack, she snapped out of it, shaking her head as if that was ludicrous information. Because Arthur Weasley had been attacked and Sirius was here, standing in front of her. Living, breathing and safe.
‘But Arthur was in danger,’ she reasoned, causing both of them to finally look at her. It was as if they’d forgotten she was there; she’d been so quiet.
‘Yeah, that’s true,’ Sirius said, placing his hand on her arm in an attempt to reassure her.
‘Maybe Voldemort has figured out a way around that. Maybe he doesn’t need Sirius there to put the image in Harry’s mind,’ Remus said gravely.
‘Okay, but where is he then?’ Daisy reasoned, grasping at anything that would shake this feeling of impending doom from her core, ‘Harry’s a smart kid; surely he knows that Sirius would be here even if he didn’t get through the first time. This house is hidden; Sirius wouldn’t leave for no reason. Why not try and get a hold of someone else from the order? Me, you –
‘He got hold of Snape,’ Sirius grumbled, ‘Harry knows Snape’s in the order. Maybe he waited for him to tell him it wasn’t real, and he didn’t.’
‘Probably couldn’t,’ Remus reasoned, ‘not in front of others.’
‘And even if Snape told him the truth, I doubt he’d believe it,’ Sirius said, ‘not exactly like he likes me.’
‘But Harry must’ve known that. Surely he’d wait for one of us,’ Daisy reasoned.
‘Panic can make the best of us a little impulsive,’ Sirius said, looking at her guiltily.
Sirius’ words were loaded, and he had a point. After all, Harry was just like James and Sirius. Impulsive, yes, but not through stupidity, but through love. If he thought someone he loved was in danger, there wouldn’t be any stopping him. But he had Lily in him too. Lily, cautious and clever and brilliant. Who felt that love run deep but played it smart. She hoped that part would be the part that won out.
‘Okay, say he has gone looking for you,’ Daisy said, trying to shift the terror from her brain to think rationally, ‘how would he even get out of the castle? He can’t apparate, and the Floo Network mustn’t be an option if he got caught.’
‘Broom?’ Sirius asked.
‘Possibly,’ Remus said, ‘but where would he go? Here?’
‘No,’ Sirius said, ‘not if he knew the place Voldemort was supposedly holding me. He’d go there.’
‘Snape didn’t know where that was,’ Remus said.
‘It doesn’t matter. Harry wouldn’t assume,’ Daisy said disbelievingly, ‘he’d come here right. If he didn’t get through, he’d try here, I’m sure of it.’
‘Dais we’ve been here all day and nothing,’ Sirius reasoned, the darkness descending outside the windows not reassuring him.
‘Yeah, sleeping,’ she reasoned.
‘I’ve not,’ Sirius said, ‘I’ve been with Buckbeak all day, and I haven’t heard anything. If I had, I would’ve…’
Sirius trailed off; his eyes narrowed with suspicion. Given their argument and Daisy’s fleeing to avoid it, the house had been rather quiet, so much so that he was sure that any disturbance he would’ve heard, especially if Harry had got through the Floo network.
‘Did Snape say he got through?’ Sirius asked Remus.
‘I’m not sure,’ Remus said, ‘but he said Harry seemed sure you were taken.’
‘Just because he didn’t answer?’ Daisy asked.
‘Because someone told him I wasn’t,’ Sirius said, and before either of them knew what was happening, he was across the room in a few short strides, wrestling something onto the table with anger. It was Kreacher, who’d apparently been listening at the door but was now cowering at the end of his master’s wand, a glare on his haggard face.
‘What have you done?’ Sirius demanded. The elf didn’t answer, though it looked as though he was fighting to be disobedient, as if Sirius’ demands were pulling the words from his mouth without him wanting them to. Sirius continued, determined to get answers, ‘it was you, wasn’t it. You hurt Buckbeak to keep me out of the way, didn’t you? Didn’t you!?'
‘I only did as mistress asked,’ Kreacher grunted.
‘Your mistress is dead,’ Sirius spat.
‘I serve many in the noble house of Black,’ Kreacher snarled, his rotten teeth glinting in the kitchen light. Daisy and Remus shared a confused look but pressed on.
‘You serve me, you little wretch,’ Sirius shouted, ‘tell me what you’ve done.’
Kreacher smiled menacingly as Sirius tried to stand straighter, hoping to enact some form of obedience from his servant, but everyone knew Kreacher held the cards. The only hope was that he’d be bound to tell Sirius. No matter who he’d been obeying on the side, he was still his master.
‘Tell me!’ Sirius demanded.
‘You look worried,’ Kreacher smiled, ‘so did the blood traitor when he called, like he was going to cry, but don’t worry mistress will show him what tears really are if he doesn’t obey.’
‘Where is he?’ Daisy asked, panicked.
‘Don’t talk to me, you filthy mudblood,’ Kreacher spat.
‘You’ll tell her, and you’ll tell me now, Kreacher,’ Sirius demanded, ‘where is Harry?’
‘Mistress told me not to tell,’ Kreacher said smugly.
‘But I am your master,’ Sirius said, prodding the tip of his wand into the elf’s neck, ‘and you’ll tell me where he is and what you have done; otherwise I’ll give you clothes.’
That made the elf straighten up, a wicked grin dancing on Sirius’ lips as he said, ‘I’ll throw you out. A disgrace to your ancestors, and you’ll be locked away from my mother’s things forever.’
They waited, every second feeling like an eternity as Kreacher fought an internal struggle before the words fell from his lips in defeat, ‘She…they want him where the treasure is. They needed him to get it.’
‘The department of mysteries,’ Daisy whispered, cursing herself. If she hadn’t swapped duties, she’d be headed there now. She’d have been awake when Harry got through; none of this would’ve happened.
‘You sure?’ Sirius asked as he grabbed Kreacher by the scruff of his old rags and tossed him towards the door. The elf hobbled away down towards his room and no doubt his mistress’ belongings.
‘It’s gotta be,’ Daisy said, ‘why else would they need Harry?’
‘She’s right; they must be going after the prophecy,’ Remus said, ‘we thought they would at some point.’
‘Right, then we need to alert the order. Tell them we know where he’s headed,’ Sirius said.
‘I’ll send a Patronus now,’ Remus said, heading off from the kitchen so that his message wouldn’t be disrupted.
Silence fell between the pair of them, and suddenly they realised just how close they’d been standing to one another, the stress of the situation making them close ranks. Daisy pulled away, moving into the hall where she found her discarded bag still slung by the stairs. She bent down and pulled a hair clip from it before moving to the mirror in the hall. Sirius watched as she swooped her golden locks and twizzled, trying hard to get it out of her line of sight, though no matter how she styled it strands kept falling into her face. He could tell that she was ignoring him and so he moved until he was standing beside her, which made her hand stall before she continued to fiddle with the strands.
‘You’re probably better brushing it back altogether,’ he said, producing a hairbrush he’d fished from her bag on the way to her. Daisy looked at it and nodded meekly, taking it from his hands as she brushed through it quickly, twisting it in a loop before it was secured behind her, her face now obstruction-free.
‘Thanks,’ she said, handing it back to him, though he placed it on the table beside them, his grey eyes never leaving her face. Daisy swallowed, ‘Sirius.’
‘Dais, I’m not gonna stay here,’ he said firmly.
‘You can’t,’ she started.
‘Harry’s missing, and it’s my fault. I’m not going to stay behind and worry,’ Sirius reasoned.
‘But it’s dangerous!’ she protested.
‘It’s dangerous for you too,’ he reasoned, his hand ghosting along her face though she moved away angrily.
‘What if this is what he wants? What if Voldemort or whoever Kreacher was on about wants you to come to his rescue? It’s obvious they know how much you care about him. What if it’s a trap?’ she said, trying to will tears not to show as she swallowed them down.
‘What if I’m running in headfirst, no thought, just that ego and pride bursting out again, you mean?’ Sirius said, though his tone wasn’t mocking and angry like last time. It was understanding. He could see the worry on her face, the terror in her eyes which grew as she whispered, ‘What if that puts Harry in danger? What if it puts you in danger? I can't lose you, Sirius. I can't lose Harry.’
‘I know,’ he said quietly.
‘I just want you safe,’ she whispered.
‘I know,’ he agreed, pulling her to him, ‘but dais this is war. We don’t have a choice… Harry's already in danger, and wouldn’t you rather us in the firing line than him? I mean, isn’t that what you keep saying: ‘Keep the kids out of it and let us do the work.'
‘What if you get caught?’ Locked up and thrown in Azkaban. What if –
‘What if something happens to Harry and I could’ve stopped it? Believe it or not, I can look after myself.’ Sirius said. He understood she was scared that this was just him being impulsive and reckless. But the last time he had charged into battle had been through pride and anger. He’d been looking for revenge as an afterthought; now he was trying to stop something happening. He had to do something.
‘I know that,’ she sighed.
‘So let me come… Or don’t you trust me?’ he reasoned.
Daisy looked at him, chewing on her lip. She knew he was good in a fight. That he, like her, would only be thinking of keeping Harry safe no matter what. She knew the feeling of needing to help. She understood how grief gripped you, how determined it made you not to want to go through it again. Above all, she trusted Sirius Black with her life.
‘Everyone’s headed to the ministry,’ Remus said as he appeared at the top of the stairs, running down them in bounds as he headed to the door, shoving a jacket on as he passed them. Sirius let go of her, still awaiting a decision as she looked between him and Remus, who was watching them like he’d missed something.
Finally Daisy looked at him and sighed, ‘got your wand?’
Sirius nodded, his mouth turning up in a smile as she rolled her eyes and said, ‘Come on then. Department of mysteries it is.’

Context
Scenario 1.
To Ellie and Riley's surprise, they both lived. It's a miracle. They are both the key to the cure.
We get TLOU, but with Riley joining Joel, Tess and Ellie.
Joel would have still done what he did, and I think Riley would have backed him up, so that, plus the fact that Ellie’s first friend/girlfriend would still be around could very well save Ellie from her PTSD/survivors guilt that made her push Joel away for so long. Which could have resulted in a better outcome at the end of 2.
With Ellie and Riley together, Ellie confronts Joel and he admits the truth. "I was given a choice. Either I would sacrifice Riley to save you , sacrifice you to save Riley or sacrifice you both for the vaccine. I chose to save you both" At first, Ellie is disgusted but Riley talks to Ellie and eventually they all make amends.
With Ellie and Riley together, Ellie does not get with Dina or alternatively, poly!
Instead of Jesse in the "you think I'd let you do this alone" scene, it's Riley.
Ellie and Riley spend the majority of hunting the WLFs down. But with Riley being smart, they don't leave a map that could lead Abby back to them. But Tommy leads them to the theater.
Jesse dies, Tommy is paralyzed and Riley loses an eye.
You choose between Riley and Dina. Either hunt Abby down or give up revenge and stay with Dina and JJ.
Scenario 2.
Riley takes Abby's place. She kills Joel for Marlene and The Fireflies. Then suddenly, she sees Ellie and it sets up her redemption arc with Lev and Yara(Yara would live) Only one problem. Ellie killed her friends and this sends Ellie and Riley against each other.
Scenario 3.
Riley is all in on killing Joel and getting revenge for Jerry and Marlene. However, Riley pleads for Abby to just "be quick and be done with it, that's what he did to Marlene" and stops the moment she sees Ellie crying for Joel. And before one of them knocks Ellie out, Riley slams them against the wall "Touch her and you join him" Abby demands an explanation and Riley tells her she does not know the hell they've been through. Yeah she wanted Joel dead for what they did to Marlene and the Fireflies, but if they kill Ellie, they are no different than Joel. Abby agrees to let her live, but it's clear the tension will continue. As they leave, Riley leans down to Ellie and says "I'm sorry" and kisses her goodbye. Riley is not happy with the direction of the WLF and is still shaken by her encounter with Ellie. Riley plans on leaving. Abby is sent to either stop Riley or kill her. When she catches up to RIley "You betrayed everything my father and the Fireflies stood for" "I DIDN'T LOSE THE LIGHT, YOU DID" Abby lets her go and this helps set off Abby's redemption, meanwhile Riley learns to "find the light" aka finding The Fireflies on Catalina Island.
Scenario 4
If there is a chance Ellie is immune, maybe Riley could be too or maybe she’s living on borrowed time. Riley is leading what’s left of the Fireflies. Her goal is to finish what Marlene started and make the cure. If we go with the option where both Ellie and Riley are immune. Then Riley needs to convince Ellie that they both must die so everyone else could live. This could explain why so many people died in the Fireflies pursuit of the vaccine. You can’t just use one immune persons, you need two. If we go with the option where Riley is living on borrowed time. Could Riley do it? Is Ellie willing to sacrifice her life to save the life of the friend she thought dead? Does Ellie choose Dina or Riley. Do you choose life or self-sacrifice? All these things could be an emotional rollarcoaster. As for Abby and Lev. In option 1. Abby will attempt to make peace in order for Ellie to cooperate. But Dina would try and talk Abby into saving Ellie. In option 2. After learning that there is a 99% chance this will kill Ellie without results, Abby realizes her father was wrong and understands why Joel did what he did. So Abby, Dina and Lev saves Ellie and kills the Firefly remnants. Ellie would have a tearful goodbye with Riley and ultimately end with forgiving Abby and welcome Abby and Lev into Jackson. They finally come to an understanding and put revenge and violence behind them.

Meet Arlen Glass from Fallout 4!! He might just have the saddest story for me!
Tumblr media
“We made toys. We made children happy. That's all that mattered.”— Arlen Glass
Arlen Glass is a ghoul living in The Slog in 2287. Cofounder of Wilson Atomatoys, Arlen was the lead toy designer until October 21, 2077. He worked tirelessly alongside his friend George Wilson to make toys to help children dream and to imagine a better future. Their flagship product, the Giddyup Buttercup (created by Arlen), became a smash hit on the market, eventually bringing in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue per year, in spite of its excessive price tag ($16,000 per unit).
When the bombs started dropping, Arlen tried to make his way back to his family in Cambridge, but when he came home, he only found a massive, irradiated crater. Traumatized, he lay among the ruins, wanting nothing but to die and join his family. Instead, he survived, and the radiation from the crater turned him into a ghoul.
Best Mission: If one takes Marlene's holotape from Arlen's office at Atomatoys HQ, a new dialogue option will be unlocked that allows the Sole Survivor to give him the tape and caps will be given as a reward, as well as a unique version of the Giddyup Buttercup toy called Buttercup toy.
