Creep Minecraft World

I've mentioned before how they have a Minecraft world they all play on, and I wanted to actually just randomly talk about it :p

At least several times a month, they all get together to play on their Minecraft world together. Sometimes a few people might be missing or absent, but they try to have as many people playing at a time as they can. Things I've already established, BEN is the one who builds cool houses for everyone (I'm adding on that they're all set up like a villager village, so they're all connected by paths and near each other like a housing development), Jeff helps people the most with mining, and Toby and Sally are both working together to make a zoo for all of the animals they come across with nice surroundings so they can all be happy in there. Now, back to my expanding on it.

I think that they all probably split into groups on who does what, and some people will just tag in whenever they want to. BEN, Liu, Helen, and Brian are the designated builders of the world. They're really good at building and have an eye for making pretty designs, so generally, that's what they spend their time doing. Jeff, Natalie, Kate, and Tim are the designated miners in the world. They had built like a whole mining system and are constantly expanding it to collect more and more materials together. Both groups work together to help each other out, and the rest of the creeps are free to join a team if they'd like to so that they can help out more, but they usually just follow the instructions of the established team members. Toby and Sally as I said earlier are committed to building a zoo, and they name every single animal that they put in there. Sometimes others will help with building or getting animals in there (they have also been allowed to use creative mode to get animals or build something if they need to), and it's situated near the housing area so that everyone can just walk over and look at the progress when they want to. Generally, they all work really well together in their teams, but sometimes they do have disagreements.

Speaking of disagreements, one of the world rules is that keep inventory has to be on, mostly because there was a point when they kept going around killing each other and then they'd get mad because they'd lose their stuff, and fights would happen, so keep inventory has to be on so that now if they die or kill each other, nobody can be upset. (That started because Jeff and Tim would push each other into lava whenever they were in the mines and disagreed on something). They haven't even gotten very far into the Nether yet because they all keep dying or killing each other. Also, nobody is allowed to alter or destroy anything that someone else has made (even if they think it looks really bad and they want to change it to make it look better, cough cough, Helen, cough cough) so that everyone can have their own little area that they build in and they don't have to worry about the safety of the work. I think they also all have an "open chest" policy where they each have one chest with a sign above it that says open, so that if someone is missing or really needs certain supplies they can take from someone else's open chest that has extra stuff they don't really need in it. I'd like to think they also go on like planned attack expeditions, like if they find an area that has a warden they'll all team up to try to fight the warden together (they rarely succeed because everyone is just screaming and yelling and running and laughing), or they'll all fight the ender dragon together, or a wither. Also??? So many mods. BEN has added so many mods to the world and he and everyone else get so much enjoyment out of it. It can be chaotic sometimes, but the Minecraft world is one of the few things everyone can actually usually get along with about, so it's a good bonding experience for them.

oooo okay this is an interresting question. First i think they play modded MC specifically farmers delight, which introduces a ton more crops and cooking recipies and createmod, which introduces a bunch more industrial machines.

Cole farms and cooks for the team and he gets REALLY into it. he catches jay eating raw chicken and immediately starts attacking him. How dare you squander all his hard work. go eat beef stew NOW. he also likes to go fishing and take care of the bees they have

Kai builds the houses, sets up the villager trading hall, makes a garden and a zoo, etc. anything that's like decorative he ends up doing. Jay places torches in some fucked up messy pattern and kais like STOP. I MADE LANTERNS THESE TORCHES ARE UGLY!!!!!!!!!!

Zane mines and his mines are actually insane. like he mines out entire chunks all the way down to bed rock. just absolutely massive uniform pits. Jay offers to build him machines in create mod to help him mine but hes like no, i like doing it this way. it's relaxing. He takes care of all of the animals in kai's zoo and coles farms. He also makes Kai rebuild the villager trading hall to be kinder to the villagers lol- no one block stalls.

Lloyd fucks off completely and just explores. he'll drop coordinates into the chat of important structures he finds like underwater monuments, villages, different biomes, and the stronghold if he finds it. he makes them turn keepinventory on so whenever he's 1million blocks away and wants to come back to the base he just jumps off a cliff and revives back home. he has 17 different horses tamed

Nya and Jay are basically the only ones who actually do any of the big stuff. They go to the nether and get netherite, they enchant all the items, they do all the villager trading, they defeat the ender dragon and bring everyone elytras. any 'progress' in the game is all them. they have an underground bunker in one of zanes mining pits where they put all the createmod stuff

Before Kai built all the houses he designates plots to all the others to give them the opportunity to make their own. Coles make a cute little farm house. Zanes is a very simple wood square with all the different kinds of flowers planted in the front. Nyas is a dirt hut. jay just has his bed and 12 chests in the middle of an open field. lloyd just sleeps in others popels houses and uses any available chest to put stuff in. Kai goes back and makes them all better houses because they're really ruining the aesthetic he's curating

∘₊✧──Luficer──✧₊∘ ~ He is very strict with the rules he set up for you; making you go to bed on time, making sure you eat and drink water, not letting you eat sweets before bed, etc. ~ He will take time off of his schedule to make sure you are happy and taken care of. ~ When he is working he will set up coloring books, puzzles, and toys for you to play with so he can work. ~ Doesn't let his brothers know that he will cuddle with you until you fall asleep while in and even sometimes out of little space to make you feel small.

∘₊✧──Mammon──✧₊∘ ~ He would spoil you with everything you wanted as long as it wasn't too much Grimm, even stealing small things for you. He would even buy some small things for himself without telling you or his brothers. ~ He would take you out for ice cream and a day to the park and any demon that would look at you weirdly, he would try to scare them off without you noticing. ~ He would help you annoy Luficer while he is working and get away with it for the most part since you are in little space, but sometimes he gets in trouble for it, but never in front of you. ~ He would get you head pats and hugs as often as he can without making you uncomfortable since he wants to show love but only when you two are alone. He doesn't want his brothers to know how much he cares about you. ∘₊✧──Leviathan──✧₊∘ ~ He would let you sit in his lap as you two watch kid-friendly anime shows way past your bedtime inside your pillow blanket fort the two of you. He would even let you pick the anime from the list, even if he didn't like it that much. ~ He would print out game and anime coloring sheets for the two of you to color while listening to anime music. If he got done before you he would let you watch him play Minecraft or Frogger while you finish coloring. ~ He would preorder different stuffies and onesies for you and him as well as any new good kids' books that come out. ~ He would play dress up with you all the time and didn't care if he had to wear a dress since it made you happy. He also will drink angel milk with you before bed.

∘₊✧──Satan──✧₊∘ ~ When the two of you are alone he will let you curse in little space all you want but won't curse himself. If the two of you are around his brothers he won't let you curse at all. ~ He gives you cat stuffies, coloring books, toys, and even ears to wear. He even lets you bite on his arm. He even puts on the cat ears when you ask him to. ~Just to make his brother Lucifer mad, he lets you eat ice cream before dinner unless he is the one cooling that night. ~ When he takes you out, he holds your hand and stays very close to you, getting you small things you want and taking you to cat cafes and petting zoos. ∘₊✧──Asmodeus──✧₊∘ ~ He would play dress up with you but unlike Levi, you two would put on a ridiculous amount of jewelry and he would do your make-up. You two would go out like this and even if people stared at the two of you, he would tell you it's okay, they are just jelly, making you giggle. ~ He would brush your hair and give you a bath with a pretty bath boom, candles, music, and toys while he plays kid shows from his D.D.D. ~ If you started crying he would hug you softly and start to hum lightly to try to calm you down. He would then wrap you in a blanket, give you some ice cream, and give you your favorite stuffed animal, talking to you as if he were your stuffie and moving him as if it was alive to try to cheer you up. ~ He would be the one to design your paci with glitter and charms on it. ∘₊✧──Beelzebub and Belphegor──✧₊∘ ~ Beelzebub would make you food that you wanted and would even share some of his food with you. He would make sure your bottle/sippy was full and that you ate and drank water every day. ~ Beelzebub would carry you on his back everywhere the three of you went as well as give you hours back rides around his and Belphie's room. ~ Belphie and Beelzebub cuddle you every chance they get, you have normal nap times and Belphie loves watching kid shows with you and loves watching you play games with Beelzebub. ~ Belphie is the one that normally wakes up to your nightmares and helps you calm down by singing you a song and Beel wakes up and joins him, sending you straight to sleep again. They try to make sure you sleep and eat well. Should I do Diavolo, Barbatos, Simeon, and Solomon next?

Liveblogging Scar Stream 6/8/24, Part III

1:15:00 The witch is in place. It continues poisoning Scar. Scar polls the chat about taking it out of the minecart, but reaches no consensus.

1:16:50 A wild Zedaph appears (signs on)! Scar comments he is almost never online with Zed because their timezones are so different. Same with Joel. Scar begins to compliment the Imagineers at Toyko Disney Springs. He likes very many things about Tokyo Disney. While he talks, he disassembles the witch track. He also likes the themed Disney food, and Disney food in general.

1:23:30 Scar attempts to remove the witch from the minecart. It poisons him again. He accidentally hits it with a shovel. A chatter suggests invisibility potion, but Scar is skeptical. The witch kills him. He respawns in the train engine.

1:25:20 Scar returns to the villain car and collects his bits. He drops a bow, which concerns the chat, but it is not the HotGuy bow. Scar teases the coming TCG set and says the art is going to be very cool. He checks to see if a shield blocks potions. The witch poisons him again.

1:27:40 Scar successfully frees the with from the minecart. It poisons him again. He flies away and scolds the witch from a safe distance for throwing potions on Frank.

1:29:30 Chat demands lava for Frank. Scar says Frank will get lava. Scar takes the chat to his creative world and warns of spoilers ahead. He shows chat several potential designs for villain cars, but the one he wants isn’t there. He is confused. Chat suggests that maybe the other tower was the friends we made along the way. Scar shows off some of the train designs he used while preparing to build the zoo train, including trains he build in Scarland, Empires, Season 7, etc. The original engine design for the circus train was much more compact and cartoony. There are at least 20 trains and partial trains floating in this area.

1:33:45 Scar says that this test world is extremely old. He flies over to an area where he learned how to make beds and pieces of furniture back in 2011 or 2012. He shows us what he believes may be the first-ever Minecraft toilet. He gives chat a tour of some kitchen and living room designs from 2012 and the introduction of terracotta. He shows chat the first “realistic” house he tried to build. It is perfectly fine, but he does not like it now. He counsels chat that everything takes time, practice and commitment. He flies past a boat he hates and commands chat not to look at it. He shows mockups of the courthouse from Season 4, planes from Season 7, and HotGuy HQ from Season 9. Many recognizable builds from various seasons are visible. Scar tells chat that you need to fail and fail and fail before you ever get where you want to go.

1:38:45 Scar tries to find a particular build and cannot, detours to show his experiments with ghostly glass from Season 6. He shows a mockup of his Season 5 roads from Scar City. He shows the prototype of a never-enacted prank on False involving “Jelliefish.” He shows some redstone experiments from back in the day, including a scrapped enchanter from the first Scarland survival world.

1:42:00 A chatter suggests Scar make the creative world available as a world download. Scar says he wishes there was more in it, that he often uses a HC world download these days. He shows off a Kingdomcraft build he designed while he was in the hospital but could not complete because the series ended.

1:45:20 Scar shows off many prototype Swaggons and describes trying to figure out the scale of the very large wagons. He encourages the chat to persevere through times when everything seems ugly and wrong, because things will eventually start to click.

1:47:10 Scar shows off a half-built structure he liked and never built. He shows off two building prototypes for the Pirate Cove. A chatter asks about world edit, and Scar shows how he uses World Edit to copy and paste in process builds so he can make alterations to builds he likes without risking ruining the structure in the process. He talks about how working with Bdubs has made him more willing to take extreme design risks and see what happens, and World Edit helps him do that.

1:51:45 Scar says most World Edit tools don’t make sense to his creative brain so he doesn’t use brush tools or things like that. Being in creative, chilling, building and having fun are one of his favorite things to do. He shows off gradient tests from when tuff and dripstone were new. He says he practices shapes and color patterns in creative so he can do them quicker and better in his survival worlds.

1:55:00 Scar shows off a set of color and gradient tests from the beginning of the nether update. He interrupts a trio of villagers talking, one of whom is wearing a dragon head. He finds a redstone device but cannot figure out what it was supposed to do. He gets very excited when he finds “something very interesting,” the original color layout for his magical crystals. Red crystals were supposed to be health before he turned it into a rage crystal for Tango. He says the saddest thing about Season 7 was that he wanted to take the crystal thing way further, but is happy that he was able to use the idea again in Last Life. He shows off the prototypes of his bell prank on Grian from Season 8. He finds several more ambiguous redstone pieces.

1:59:40 Scar shows off several more prototypes from early season builds. He is charmed by finding an alligator he does not remember building. He pop quizzes chat on one prototype, chat correctly guesses “haunted mansion.” He finds his mockup of the “modern fishing cabin” from 2014 and is very excited about it. He shows off mockups of ‘digital trees’ from Mumbo’s Season 6 landscaping.

2:04:00 Scar returns to Hermitcraft. He asks chat if they liked the visit to the test world, chat is enthusiastic. Scar says that sometime he will do a tour of Scarland, the survival world he built before joining any SMPs. He returns to contemplating the villain car and wants to get an evoker and/or a ravager. He is also going to build some farms under the train. He says he’s still going to build a roller-coaster in Magic Mountain even though now it’s destined for volcano-hood, and also that he’s going to add some villagers. He envisions a train barn design that houses either a super smelter or a villager trading hall.

2:08:00 Scar explains that he wants all his cars to have functions, but he is not sure of a function for the aquarium car. He solicits ideas from the chat. A chatter asks about the recording studio and Scar tells them to go watch the most recent video. A chatter suggests putting a dolphin in the aquarium car. Scar says that’s probably a bad idea. He says he may flood a portion of the land near the train to remove unused land, then terraform a new shoreline.

2:11:40 Scar returns to studio view and draws the stream to a close. He says his next step is to trigger a raid to get the ravager and evoker, and contemplates getting help from Doc, so long as Doc has his mini pizzas first this time. He admits that he’s going to need to go get new headphones and is sad about it. One headphone cup appears to be actively trying to escape his head. Scar raids into Ren and ends his stream.

Silly thoughts: first, I have this thought since yesteraday because of this whole minecraft epidemics, but my god I want Warden so bad. Not just for the sake of monsterfucking, although his design is peak sexy, but also for the sad lore potential.

Now that my block game mob thirsting is out of the way, I am also bringing you a thought sparked by Rem's wonderful piece they did for my dadler+baby Graves zoo day ask, and that is that baby Graves could totally chill with a lynx. Like, Mowgli style. Imagine a giant fluffy cat lazing about and this little bean sitting between its front paws, grabbing at the soft fur and trying to reach for the brushes on its ears. And if he gets too handsy, the lynx just puts its paw on his face and pushes him on his back pressing him down like a misbehaved kitten.

Honestly his mama lynx would totally do same shit even after he grew up in the bastard he is now. He just needs someone to push him over from time to time.

so i havent started the aboveground portion yet butttt you go down the stairs and to your right is the aquarium room called A Wave Away Exhibit!! on the left is an axolotl enclosure designed like their natural lush caves and i have 4 (all except true blue) named after the konosuba gang. then on the right is gonna be a wall-length reef aquarium with tropical fish and such!! on the back wall is a waterfall and it leads to a below-floor tank in a sort of -> arrow shape with glow squids (and 1 normal) named the Seven Deadly Squids (the regular is Sloth bc they didnt wanna sparkle hehe) and i'm gonna put "benches" in there and its just so soothing its all dark oak floors and the blue nether wood walls and black terracotta inside the tanks

and then right outside A Wave Away & to the left of the enterance is a big glass wall underwater !! the museum is right beside a dock of sorts where i wanna build a BIG OL SHIP so you'll be able to see the ship underwater!!!

then you can go forward way down the twisty stairs to the dinosaur room (currently unnamed) or right down to the Creeps and Baddies Exhibit!!! they connect up tho dw

the Creeps and Baddies is a big room with enclosures for hostile mobs!! not sure what all we wanna put in it yet tho so ideas absolutely welcome. i'm thinking i want an endermite tho those are cute. and a charged creeper!! at the back of that room is the entry to the Hall of Honor Exhibit where i'm gonna put all the mob heads we can get!!

in the dinosaur room there's a giant triceratops skeleton on the right and a parasaur sorta looking skeleton on the left, and a square in the middle for a torch flower! there's gonna be a hall from between the two skeletons on the back wall to a room just dedicated to pottery and then the other enterance will come out under the triceratops so you can walk under it !!

i've really been making this like an actual irl kids museum and i want to put benches and signs with fun facts all around and its such an experience to just walk through and see all the dedicated exhibits as opposed to just a big showcase in 1 big wall or whatever like a lot of people prefer to do. aboveground is going to be a petting zoo with some rarer mobs like mooshrooms and sniffers and (HOPEFULLY) a skeleton horse and then a greenhouse with all the types of flowers/plants i can find and an area dedicated to patterned things like banners or glazed terracotta!!

OH AND I JUST REMEMBERED i gotta make a room probably underground for a mining exhibit to showcase every type of ore (I FOUND MY FIRST DIAMONDS IN OUR WORLD ON MY OWN TODAY I HATE MINING :D) in its regular, deepslate, and block forms!!

Liveblogging Scar Stream, 6/8/24, Part 1

I missed the first 15 minutes, I'll backfill it later.

16:00 Visit to the train, Scar explains the change in design of his train. His previous caboose idea wasn’t working, so he came up with the “villains” (hostile mobs) car. We get a look at Frank, who is having about as good a time as the hanging blue bird in the garden car. Scar says that the new design for the caboose will be with the caboose tethered to the train but floating in on balloons.

18:00 Scar finds Tango’s copper farm and “helps” with the redstone. He then goes to visit Tango at his factory. Tango admires the on/off light Scar has added, and they discuss The Emperor’s New Groove and the fact that Scar’s headphones are very broken.

22:00 Tango shows Scar how the drowned farm works, Scar is unable to escape the water current and dies in the farm while Tango watches in bemused disbelief from two blocks away. He respawns at his chest monster and returns to the farm. Chat asks whether he produced copper. Scar asks if that was on purpose and Tango said he assumed a human would simply walk out of the farm. Cub shows up and presents Scar with a water breathing potion. Tango retrieves and returns Scar’s things. Tango makes a joke about Scar’s ability to escape the water, Scar jokes that he must be losing the ability to walk in Minecraft as well. Tango has no response to that and Scar, triumphant, returns to his train.

26:30 Scar catches up with donos, a chatter makes a donation to “wheelchair fund” and Scar says he has so many wheelchair rants stored up that he is dangerously close to a mega-rant. He takes Chat to the villain car to get critique about whether the dragon actually looks like a dragon. Chat is generally encouraging. Tango (in game chat) says it looks like a dragon who went through a blender.

29:45 Scar wants to put a ravager in the villain car, but eventually turn the car into a mob farm. He says he has been relying on guilt-tripping the Maple Prince (Etho) into giving him gunpowder by sending him requests in the mail, but he can’t do that forever.

30:00 A chatter encourages Scar to leave Ore Mountain in place as a monument to Scar’s dedication. Scar still has not decided whether to keep it. He begins hunting for witches in the dark part of the train tunnel. A chatter suggests asking Doc to catch a dragon for the zoo, Scar is worried about the level of maintenance a captive dragon requires.

so i watched this video today about horror minecraft mods, and i really liked it. it's a decent analysis and it kind of made things click for me vis a vis making horror in video games.

my impression was that these horror mods fail because they're too "creepypasta". there's an adage with horror that you "don't show the monster" because whatever the viewer is imagining is worse than anything you could actually make, and i think this rule is in full effect with these horror mods. they'll scare you at first but once their hand is revealed, all impact is lost.

which is kind of ironic, since the premise of the initial cave dweller mod is "what if the cave noises corresponded to an actual monster," but the cave noises are kind of scary only in that they set your imagination to work, but i digress.

despite this, the mod idea is still fantastic in my opinion, since you can become desensitized to these sounds. it's true that "the unknown" is a huge part of what makes things scary, but it's also true that minecraft still manages to be scary even though we're completely desensitized to creepers and endermen. why is this? well, probably for the same reason you'd be scared to death if you came across a hungry bengal tiger in the middle of the jungle, regardless of whether you knew its scientific name, or how many whiskers it has on its nose.

because of this, i think if you're going to make a scary modded creature for minecraft, you should play into minecraft's strengths and come up with a design where the scare-factor doesn't rely on the player not seeing it. you'll get more mileage if you create something more animal-like. you want it to be scary even if they're able to capture one and put it in a zoo. you do this by letting the terror emerge from its interactions with the player.

like when they're deep underground, bag full of recently mined diamonds, and then they hear foot steps behind them.
