Years ago my friends and I went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show at a community theater out in the middle of nowhere. After the show we stopped at an empty little diner to get pancakes, still dressed up in our shitty hot topic fishnets and thigh high plastic boots. So I've been thinking a lot about the tally

I think it's safe to assume that these numbers cover only their 3 years of high school - Hinata says later on that he hasn't counted his beach volleyball games yet. Meaning, they got into roughly ~2200 competitions over the course of three years, though not all of them were volleyball games (they also compete in races, and other silly things like who can eat faster and etc.)

(It's a little unclear whether the tally only accounts for wins when they're competing against each other, though - I'll assume that's the case since it'd be kinda unfair otherwise lol)

BUT. Here comes the interesting part. This is their updated tally, as of 2022 (the All-Stars special match):

According to the Haikyuu wiki, the Black Jackals vs. Schweiden Adlers game happened in November 2018. The All-stars match happened in August 2022. That's about 45 months later - meaning, they got into another 1852 competitions in the span of almost four years.

But, but.... before, during high school, these morons saw each other almost every single day. They competed on almost EVERYTHING, and averaged a total of 2 competitions per day.

Now, though- they lived in different cities during Hinata's first year in the V.League, and after that Kageyama moved to Italy. As of 2022, Hinata is back in Brazil playing for Asas São Paulo. Meaning, for the better part of these last 4 years, these two weren't even in the same country.

And yet they kept the tally going, counting almost religiously. So that's 1852 competitions over 45 months - average of 1,37 competitions per day. Meaning, on average, Hinata and Kageyama must've talked to each other at least once a day, for four years, to update their tally.

TL;DR they probably talk to each other regularly and that makes me so happy. Even though they're not in the same team (or even the same country) they still keep thinking about each other every. single. day.

Full respect to mxtx and her apparent tall people kink but as much as I believe it's her right to make every single character a fucking tree, I strongly disagree with jiang cheng's canon height being 185cm. Than man should be 179cm exactly. Just barely shy of 180cm. I think even if you do not grow up with an inferiority complex topping out at this height legally requires you to develop it.

179 cm, incidentally, translates to 5'10.5" if my online sources are to be believed. Which, in a beautiful alliance of cross-measurement system solidarity, is also a perfect height to be deeply insecure about! If someone asks you how tall you are and you answer 5'10.5" you sound desperate. But if you round up to 5'11" you are technically lying about your height and any loose shixiong within ear shot may loudly call you out on it, making you look even more desperate. You can't win. Just like Jiang Cheng.

TUA SEASON 4 SPOILERS

i’ve never been so disappointed in umbrella academy. i really had high hopes for this season and they met those expectations but were ruined the moment i watched episode 5. the way they managed to massacre two perfectly good characters and their perfectly good platonic relationship for the sake of more bullshit drama just hurts me greatly. five has been my favorite for all 5 years i’ve been apart of this fandom. and to see him turn from someone who cares greatly for his family and would never do anything to hurt them in any capacity to a literal home wrecker and someone willing to give up on his family so easily. and lila turning from a strong independent woman who is willing to fight for herself into a pawn being fought over by two dumbasss brothers. it just really sucks. these characters had so much love and heart put into them and really could’ve been more if they weren’t given the short end of the stick by terrible writing.

there could’ve better ways to create compelling drama without sacrificing the characters integrity.

so disappointed i don’t think i can look at umbrella academy the same again.

(stayed up till 3am to watch this with a friend 😭 never getting these hours of my life back. such time wasted.)
