"Vagabonds" Chapter 22
"THE TEMPEST"
Ongoing fanfic Hunter x Reader/Fem Reader/OC
Hunter meets a smuggler Nomaadi Star Woman with a powerful force sensitive teen who changes the trajectory of CF-99's lives...as they ALL try to escape from The Empire together.

Word Count: 1.6 K
Background: What is Mad's fate? Can Hunter, Tech, LOVE, Tiggy, and newcomer Jeb escape the CX Trooper? Has LOVE's Force Powers gone too far???
MORE ACTION IN THIS CHAPTER!
For anyone new to this series: "LOVE" is the nonbinary/genderfluid neurodivergent/nonverbal Force sensitive kid of the main OC of this series named Mad. Mad is an older single mother, close to almost 50 years of age (not many older female protaganists in stories, so I decided to make one.)
Warning: SW Canon violence, blood, dog mauling human (defensive move for the doggo), swearing, angst, tragedy. Disclaimer: I wrote this chapter WELL BEFORE the mudslides and flooding in the south occurred. Hopefully this plot device is not offensive.

Tech attempted to comm Hunter.
No answer.
He heard and FELT an explosion.
Tiggy screamed loudly, causing Tech to jump out of his skin. She immediately ran for the open hatch. Tech leapt catching her by the collar.
“DAAB, TIGGY! STAY! STOP!!!” No command helped as she dragged him across the Marauder’s floor.
She sensed something was VERY WRONG. Tech managed to engage his remote access closing the gangplank via arm link, then bearhugged Tiggy with both arms. Her strength, even for a now medium sized canine, surprised him.
Tiggy screamed and struggled violently as Tech wrapped his long gangly legs around her to prevent getting loose. Committed dog that she was to her people, she never bit him, but alligator rolled growling.
When the gangplank closed, Tech let go launching himself into the pilot seat starting up the Marauder’s engines.
Tiggy continually threw herself at the closed gangplank.
Over the noise of the Marauder’s engines Tech heard the strong rumble of thunder. A fat raindrop splattered across the ship's windscreen.
Taphao Kaew’s weather patterns SHOULD’NT support rain in THIS season...
The Marauder took off from the forest floor.

LOVE caterwauled over Mad’s body.
Hunter sensed a HUGE electromagnetic front forming quickly above them. The sky ROILED as dark clouds blotted out the sun. He leaned down over Mad and attempted to pick up her bloody body. It was difficult to tell her status through the thousands of cuts she sustained from shrapnel during the blast.
Though unconscious Mad was STILL breathing.
LOVE started to cry HUGE wet tears. They ran down their cheeks...
The sky opened and a DELUGE of rain fell.
Jeb appeared next to Hunter. “The HELL this storm come from???
“Blame it on us.” Hunter remarked as he eyed LOVE.
Rain fell upon Mad’s body, washing the blood away temporarily. He leaned across to shield her and drew his weapon. Jeb drew his as well. Both stood their ground...waiting.
A blaster bolt rang through the smoke. LOVE blocked it one handed.
The CX Trooper stepped out into full view, leveling his rifle at LOVE, Hunter, and Jeb.
He spoke in a hauntingly distorted voice “The clone, force sensitive, AND Jedi asset. How convenient.”
“I WON’T go willingly” Hunter growled. “Won’t let you take ANYONE else, either.”
“It’s not YOU I’m after.” CX sneered through his helmet.
Hunter’s eyes widened. This Trooper KNEW who he was...and about Omega too.
Good thing she was safe on the Beldame.
“Hand HER over and I’ll go easy on your squad.” CX nodded in Mad’s direction. “That one too.” Nodding to LOVE.
LOVE’S head slowly rose up to face the CX Trooper. Eyes no longer yellow green...but bright CRIMSON RED!
Hunter’s long hair slowly rose up and strained to stand on end. His bandana held most of it back. He could FEEL an electrical charge building.
“LOVE...DON’T do it.” Hunter tried his darndest to keep calm.
They weren’t listening. NOTHING was getting through. His skin TINGLED!
OH...SHIT!” Hunter grabbed Jeb dragging him to the ground, then threw his own body over the boy and Mad.
LOVE struggled to speak...”Nnnn...nnn...naaAAAHHHH!” Then SCREAMED “NNN...NOOOO!!!” Face flushed as red as their eyes.
A bolt of lightning made explosive contact next to the CX Trooper. He flew back with several trees falling and igniting into flames.
LOVE, unhinged screamed outwardly over and over and over and over. ALL of the fear, anger, and sadness emanated outward VIOLENTLY!
More lightening strikes.
Hunter heard the distant sounds of people SCREAMING...unsure if in fear...or injury...
The rain picked up threefold, wind WAILING through the trees!
Taphao Kaew’s soil couldn’t handle the sudden volume of water raining down. The ground underneath gave way. Hunter grabbed Mad with one hand and, LOVE with the other, then attempted to catch Jeb with both legs around his midsection.
They splashed into a torrent of watery mud with a wickedly strong current. It pulled them all downhill as a huge swath of earth cleaved away from the forest. The water swallowed trees, land speeders, pushing parked ships up against the Rebel Base...collapsing the outer wall. Then flowed around the building further downhill.
Their group were pulled downhill towards the clearing...and the mess of trees, equipment, ships, assorted flotsam and jetsam.
Hunter knew they would all be crushed in the wreckage or swallowed up in the mud.
LOVE laid back, watery mud coursing around them. The grey sky rained down into their eyes blurring everything in sight. Mind clouded and FULL of anger. Hate burning hot while the waters around them couldn’t cool their volatile emotions.
“LOVE! SNAP OUT OF IT!!!” attempting to get to them. “WE NEED YOU!” Muddy water washed over Hunter’s helmet, silencing his pleas. Luckily it was sealed tight to prevent leakage.
A dark shadow blotted out the rain, as they slipped quickly down the ravine. LOVE’S vision cleared as Tech brought the Marauder above them.
The best he could do was drop rappelling lines to Hunter and hope he could reach them. Tech opened Marauder’s bottom hatch...fully realizing Tiggy might jump out of the ship. Tiggy was beyond listening and Tech needed both hands on the controls.
He opened the doors and hoped for the best.
Tiggy scrabbled across the deck flooring, sliding straight to the open space. Tech grit his teeth.
Miraculously she held onto the edge of the hatch, barking down into the gloom for all she was worth.
The roar of the engines reached into LOVE’S ears. Beneath that...barking. LOVE realized Tiggy was on board the Marauder! SOMEHOW she had managed to get aboard with LOVE unable to detect her presence.
To LOVE’S faraway brain, it seems Tiggy was barking in Basic Standard...
“BARK, BARK, BARK...WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!!!”
LOVE’S eye widened, their head snapped up to see...
...Hunter’s fist firmly gripping the front of LOVE’s tunic, his other arm disappeared under the water...
...a long, wet shock of silver hair bobbed and flowed up from the watery depths...where Hunter feebly attempted to keep Mad’s head above water...
Hunter’s legs wrapped around... a STORM TROOPER!
The Trooper held on for dear life to Hunter’s right leg. LOVE could hear his screams ringing out from the comm in his helmet.
“LOVE!!!” Hunter yelled.
The group suddenly bounced off immense tree roots, pushing Hunter’s head under the water again. Mad’s head bobbed up above the surface, still unconscious.
Hunter popped back up, while NEVER letting go...neither did Jeb. Mad’s head disappeared underwater again.
WHAT AM I DOING??? LOVE SCREAMED inside their head!
They reached out with the Force...pushing...rising...
LOVE levitated out of the water, pulling Hunter with them. It took some work...he was heavier than he looked. The violent current dragging their bodies made it even more difficult.
Tech held The Marauder in place just above.
In their mind, LOVE called out to the Force for help. PLEADED even. HELP ME...PLEASE!!!
LOVE PUSHED...Mad emerged from the water where Hunter had a hold of the back of her robes...
They pushed HARDER. Muscles tensing to fever pitch...feeling as if they would split apart...
Jebith emerged from the water, still grasping Hunter’s legs.
LOVE pulled the group up, up, up...
A strong JERK pulled the group down again. There was another weight added...
The CX Trooper grabbed onto Jeb’s legs scaling him like a rope! He climbed up Jebith’s body, then Hunter’s...stopping to hold on and address Hunter eye to eye.
“You shouldn’t have left your OWN behind!” CX taunted him.
“Who the fuck ARE YOU???” Hunter shouted.
“YOU chose THEM over your BROTHERS!” The voice, while distorted sounded Reg-like...mixed with another familiar voice.
“...Crosshair???” Hunter grasped at straws...the body type wasn’t thin enough...but he hadn’t seen his brother for some time...
“Your misguided alliance will COST you!” CX refused to answer Hunter’s question.
Instead, he viciously kicked Jebith free from Hunter’s grasp. The young trooper screamed as he fell, then hit the water, disappearing into the muddy rolling depths.
Hunter kneed CX in the crotch while headbutting him.
CX’s grip released. He slipped down...
Drawing his vibroblade unthinkably quick...
Stabbing Hunter’s upper thigh just below the hip expertly between the armor. Sinking it deeply into soft tissue.
Hunter SCREAMED in agony! CX pulled himself up on the blade, grabbing the hair on Mad’s head, flipping her head up to face him.
“Pity. She’s dead.” He scoffed at her pale face and blue lips.
He let go of her then proceeded to climb up Hunter towards LOVE.
LOVE had almost reached the bottom hatch of the Marauder. Hunter sensed LOVE needed to be free of the weight of the bodies below them.
Hunter yelled out to LOVE “I’VE GOT THIS! DO WHAT YOU DO!!!”
He let go.
CX slipped back down, holding onto Hunter’s shoulders.
Hunter sensed a large presence arrive and blot out the Marauder as he punched CX in the throat.
He and Mad fell, as Hunter caught the rappelling cable attached to the Marauder. He never let go of Mad.
CX gagged, letting go of Hunter, then engaged his own rappelling line upward. He kicked away and zipped upward quickly towards LOVE.
LOVE, still levitating, reached out to push CX away as he stunned them.
He caught LOVE’s body as it fell...
Tiggy leapt out of the Marauder, hitting him like a ton of bricks. Biting, scratching, mauling the CX Trooper.
He screamed and swore as he zipped away towards his ship, still holding LOVE.
Hunter rode his line up through the Marauder’s bottom hatch, setting Mad down.
“TECH, FOLLOW THAT SHIP!” He barked. “TROOPER HAS LOVE AND TIGGY!!!”
“On it!” Tech closed the hatch, engaging the Marauder. As he watched the CX Trooper zipline into his ship, closing the hatch.
Ignoring the searing pain of the knife buried in him, Hunter leaned over Mad. He fumbled at opening her mouth to scoop out wet debris clearing her airway. Then started breaths and compressions...

EARTH PULSE: July 14, 2025
MAMA EARTH CHECK-IN
Today's biospheric signal shows a planet in active transformation.
THERMAL PATTERNS
Northern Hemisphere experiencing widespread +3°C to +6°C anomalies, with Arctic regions showing +8°C above baseline. The fever isn't breaking; it's redistributing.
Heat isn't disappearing—it's migrating, pulling climate zones northward at ~1.5km per year.
ATMOSPHERIC FLOWS
Jet streams wavering in amplified patterns, creating stalled weather systems and persistent omega blocks. Earth's circulatory system is kinking and rerouting.
When wind falters, we see asphyxiated urban zones, toxic haze, and failed pollination cycles.
HYDROLOGIC PULSE
Water vapor increasing (+7% per 1°C of warming), intensifying the rainfall where it falls, deepening drought where it doesn't.
Moisture is the fuel for chaos—superstorms, cloudbursts, and flash floods.
CRITICAL INTERPRETATION
Earth isn't dying—she's reorganizing, metabolizing an energy imbalance created largely by human activities. But the rate of change now exceeds the adaptive capacity of many species, ecosystems, and human infrastructures. This is a phase transition from Holocene stability to Anthropocene volatility.
SOMATIC INVITATION
What to do when everything shakes? Let your nervous system sync with Earth's respiration today. When you feel destabilized, place your hand on your heart and remember: disruption may not be collapse—just skin shedding. The Earth remembers through your body.
FIELD QUESTION
"What's being shaken loose in you as the planet recalibrates?"
This is not alarm. This is attunement.
We are listening. So is she.

Super high cape index after Omega/Rex blocks means any storm in that area could turn deadly
So while I predicted that 2024 would be the deadliest/most active tornado season on record, I've stayed pretty quiet about 2025. We did have a huge spike of tornadoes in 2025 that surpassed 2024 in spots. But the Omega and Rex block patterns slowed the spike down a little bit. But these cape indexes kinda indicate that those block patterns are shifting and are on the move again. I haven't seen that ALL of the conditions for a really terrible tornado are present today. But this cape value is far above normal because of the abnormal stagnation/sudden shifting of the jet stream. A CAPE value of 2000 can produce a tornado if other storm elements are present. But a cape value of above 6000 is *part* but not all of the recipe that you'd need if you were trying to cook up an F5. If you're in or around texarkana tonight and a weatherman says "don't travel" then maybe ... don't travel. Get somewhere safe and chill if you can. But if your weather guy is chill, enjoy the warm weather!

Weekly Highlights May 11th to 17th
This week as we have gone away from the omega blocking pattern of last week and will see several days of severe weather, and wet and stormy weather in the east. On Sunday into Monday showers and thunderstorms will continue in the Southeast and parts of Florida. That area will have seen 2-6’’ of rain over the last few days. Localized flooding and the chance for some severe weather today and on…

[ad_1] The relentless rounds of torrential rain and thunderstorms will continue across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast as we close out the weekend and get into a new workweek. FOX Weather Meteorologist Jane Minar breaks down the forecast on Sunday, May 4.NEW YORK – Tens of millions of people in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic are facing a flash flood risk as we close out the weekend and begin a new workweek due to relentless rounds of rain and some thunderstorms fueled by a stubborn Omega blocking pattern over the U.S.An "Omega block" is named after the Greek letter Ω and disrupts the usual zonal flow of weather systems. The FOX Forecast Center said the blocking pattern has caused a so-called cutoff low-pressure system to stall over the Ohio Valley. This system is feeding moisture off the Atlantic Ocean, funneling precipitation into the region."A cutoff low means that it’s cut off from the main flow, meaning that there’s nothing around to steer it, meaning that it doesn’t move very fast at all," FOX Weather Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari said. "So, this thing is going to linger around the East Coast for a couple of days."This graphic shows the forecast in the Northeast on Sunday, May 4, 2025.(FOX Weather) On Sunday, scattered downpours and thunderstorms are likely across much of the region, but especially near the Catskills of New York and Poconos of Pennsylvania. It won't be a complete washout on Sunday, so there will be breaks in the rain – which, in some cases, could be a few hours. It will be cool and rainy in places farther north, such as Burlington, Vermont; Portland, Maine; and Buffalo, New York.Farther south, however, it will be warmer. Temperatures in Boston, Philadelphia and Washington will be in the 70s with rain. This graphic shows the severe weather threat in the eastern U.S. on Sunday, May 4, 2025.(FOX Weather) NOAA's Storm Prediction Center (SPC) said severe weather is from Florida to interior portions of the Northeast on Sunday. The SPC placed those regions in a Level 1 threat on its 5-point severe thunderstorm risk scale."We're down to a Level 1 risk today," Sarsalari said. "It's a pretty large area. I mean, it goes from the interior Northeast down through eastern Pennsylvania, parts of Virginia, parts of the Carolinas, even down along the Southeast coast."This graphic shows the forecast rain totals in the Northeast through Wednesday, May 7, 2025.(FOX Weather) Several inches of rain is likely across portions of the Northeast through Wednesday, with some of the highest totals expected in New York's Hudson Valley and Capital Region, as well as in Connecticut, western Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire in New England."This is a needed rain," Sarsalari continued. "The other thing that’s going to come along with this is a flood threat. It’s not the highest flood threat we’ve ever seen."This graphic shows the flash flood threat in the Northeast through Tuesday, May 6, 2025.(FOX Weather) NOAA's Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has highlighted a flood threat across portions of the Northeast, New England and mid-Atlantic through at least Tuesday. So far, the risk is relatively low – only a Level 1 out of 4 threat of flooding. However, flooding can be dangerous and potentially deadly if safety precautions aren't taken. Never drive over a flooded roadway if traveling, and listen to the advice of local officials if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.Omega blocking pattern fuels flood threat this week Weather forecast map for the week ahead. (FOX Weather)A rather unusual weather pattern for early May is setting up across the U.S., one that meteorologists warn will lead to a stagnant pattern with prolonged periods of warmth in some areas and steady rain in others. This so-called Omega block will cause two distinct regions of precipitation to dominate the workweek: one stretching from the southern Plains to the Gulf Coast and another affecting the Northeast."Plenty of moisture will be underneath those lows," FOX Weather Meteorologist Jane Minar said. "It's a slow-moving pattern that will kind of keep us locked in place with rain." [ad_2] Source link

SPC Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
SPC Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook https://shelbyohwx.com/wp-content/uploads/day38otlk_fire-13.gif"/>
SPC Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook
Day 3-8 Fire Weather Outlook NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0432 PM CDT Fri Aug 16 2024 Valid 181200Z - 241200Z ...Synopsis... An extended period of elevated fire weather concerns is expected across portions of the Great Basin through D6/Wednesday. During this time a highly amplified omega blocking pattern will remain in place, with an upper-level ridge over the central CONUS, and troughs over the East and West Coasts. Persistent hot and dry conditions under, and on the fringes of, the aforementioned ridge will continue to result in poor fuel recovery. This will especially be true across the Great Basin, central and southern Rockies, and portions of the Southern Plains. ...D3/Sunday-D6 Wednesday... A mid-level shortwave trough, within a broader Pacific trough, will lift northward across WA and into British Columbia D3/Sunday. Although the mid-level flow is expected to weaken south of it over the Great Basin, a well mixed boundary layer will still allow for momentum transfer of some stronger flow aloft to translate to the surface from the northwestern, to central, and southern Great Basin. In particular, the highest sustained wind speeds are expected across south-central NV D3/Sunday where an enhanced pressure gradient will reside. Morning moisture recovery will also remain poor across this region. Similar weather conditions are anticipated for D4/Monday across south-central NV, with even poorer RH recovery in the morning. Widespread elevated surface wind speeds should decrease slightly across most of the Great Basin early next week as SSW mid-level speeds do the same. However, persistent terrain driven wind speeds, in conjunction with well mixed boundary layers, will continue to support small areas of 40% risk probabilities through at least D6/Wednesday across portions of the Great Basin. ..Barnes.. 08/16/2024 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov/fire for graphic product...

I thought I remembered something about the omega block weather pattern actually being related to heat suppression, so I tried to look it up. however.

even with adding "weather" to the search the first result was STILL a 1D fic. hello????
but oh okay, that second result is actually about the weather. let's click on that.

oh. "stuck in a rut". okay
"this is what's called an omega block" I am watching the WEATHER CHANNEL with my FATHER
#vero requested I add the results of my research so now yall get to see it too <3#suggestive text#<- in image?? not sure how better to tag that. sorry

3 and 6 for your personal takes on post-war Cybertron? owo
3. Climate or weather
So during the war, especially after the Energon wells started getting dried up or diverted, Cybertron's atmosphere developed into a bit of a dustbowl due to many of the mechanimal macrofauna that had critical atmospheric and geological maintenance functions suffered from a lack of access to fuel and the widespread habitat destruction. Static storms weren't actually that common outside of the Sea of Rust and Mithric Sea before the war, but with the fine dust in the air not being filtered out anymore and the ground layers being subject to more erosion due to a lack of maintenance, there was at one point several electric storm supercells just, like... roiling around the planet.
They died down once the Allspark was removed and Energon production on the planet stopped -- meaning that after the activation of the Omega Lock, surviving Cybertronians had an opportunity to start from a neutral system with little established weather patterns to deal with. This was not good! This was, in fact, a huge issue because none of their solar and wind power would work, with unshifting air and high vapour clouds stopping a lot of the radiation. They had to start rapidly reintroducing macrofauna and try to get some kind of a climate going before the population grew too large to support all over.
6. Architecture or buildings
The basic.... thing, the basic building block of Cybertronian construction, is a bent metal sheet riveted together with another metal sheet, because a lot of the ground is either thin metal sheets with little gaps, big metal sheets with big gaps or mixed metal gravel that is easy to melt into sheets. A lot of lower-end Cybertronian housing looks like origami, because the sheets aren't even riveted, they're just stamped together in features that look like folds from a distance. Post-war this kind of decorative stamping and clever use of scarce material meant that a lot of the newer buildings were designed to have their visual appeal be in the cleverness of the construction, the illusion of being made out of a single sheet of metal despite having impossible dimensions for it.
(It's debated whether this was some kind of a political statement about the unity of the species. Of course, you'd probably have to ask the architects, but reconstruction era architecture stayed popular well into the second golden age, for being both economic and aesthetically pleasing.)
#re: still weather -- I wanna say this was caused by Cybertron starting to spin slower after the Allspark was removed somehiw#but I'm not sure how yet#I need to look into planetary geophysics a little bit before I can say anything#I just like the idea#they were away from Cybertron for a fairly short time in the timescale of the planet#but if they'd stayed off it for longer the planet would have eventually essentially disintegrated#the white hole that is the spark of Primus was doing a lot of work keeping it together in the first place#so gravity just legit started getting weaker#Transformers Meta#Maccadam#Also yes this is technically#Transformers Prime#but IDK how Cybertron gets revived in the comics#plug in your own plot points I'm not the boss of you#van's answers#red the dragon

'Omega Block' Weather Pattern Will Dominate US This Week
May 1, 2023 - Weather.com
A weather pattern known as an omega block will dominate the United States this week, bringing wet, cool weather to parts of the East and West and mild, dry conditions in between...
The meteorologists are using orgonomic language, saying the weather is “blocked up” this week. The weather is truly weird today in Southern California, with a cold, rainy system coming in, but clearly there is a force fighting it hard. Although the sky looks clear with puffy clouds, the presence of DOR can be felt and seen to the trained eye. The rain in the forecast has been removed because they have been able to reduce the chance, but have not entirely succeeded. Whenever we see a jet stream that isn’t straight, that means there are energetic blockages causing issues.
Because of all the disabled weather weaponry throughout the west, they only have Colorado’s arrays to fight this one, and they just happen to know (because they follow our work) that Denver is next on our agenda. This is their last chance to use it. We plan on neutralizing Denver and anything we haven’t yet neutralized on the way within a few months.
It is not the parasite’s goal to have rain anywhere, so these rains in the west and the east are not the desired outcome of using Denver to block the jet stream. They are just using the only major array they have left in the west and it’s not really working very well. You can see in the video how the jet stream is being forced up at Colorado. The meteorologist says something revealing too, indicating that this is being done on purpose: “It is really blocked up across the United States... we’ve got the omega block in place.”

Aurora forecast diminishes; Omega Block makes for dry last week of April in the Maritimes
There was quite a show in the night sky for the Maritimes this past weekend! A severe geomagnetic storm (G4) produced a widespread viewing of the aurora borealis Sunday night into early Monday morning.
Some great pictures in the region of that are available here.
Don’t expect a repeat performance Monday night. The Space Weather Prediction Center branch of the NOAA has only a minor geomagnetic storm forecast (G1) for Monday night/Tuesday morning, making it much less likely to spot the aurora.
I also had reports of a few “fireballs” associated with the Lyrid meteor shower. The Lyrids reached their peak this past weekend, but may still be visible, cloud cover permitting. The radiant point is near the bright star Vega in the constellation Lyra, which move high in the eastern sky near and after midnight. More cloudiness and fog is expected in the Maritimes Monday night compared to the weekend. That is likely to make night sky viewing more challenging.
On to the weather story for the week, which is going to be the lack of rain in the forecast. A blocking pattern in the jet stream -- faster moving winds high in the atmosphere -- will allow a ridge of high pressure to remain in place much of this week, giving us a very low chance of any significant amount of rain. This particular blocking pattern is known as an “omega block” as it resembles the Greek letter omega.
Omega blocks are infamous for producing extended periods of dry weather. Aside from only a low chance of some very spotty, light showers Tuesday and Thursday, rain looks like it will hold off until at least early next week.
While the dry weather has been favourable for the freshet in New Brunswick, allowing river water levels to continue to come down this week, getting too dry for too long this time of the year can create other issues. The fire weather index will need to be watched in the Maritimes. While that isn’t being rated particularly high yet, it is important that people continue to adhere to any provincial or municipal burn restrictions in effect. A complicating factor this year could be debris left by post-tropical storm Fiona adding to ground fuel available for wildfires. At the end of March, the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada drought monitor only had a small area of southern New Brunswick rated as “abnormally dry.” March wasn’t a particularly dry month for the Maritimes. The organization should have an update to the drought monitor out in early May.
More on the omega block, the dry weather, and regional weather conditions on CTV News at 5, 6, and 11:30 p.m.

An omega blocking pattern is developing across much of Canada and will be good news for some, but bad news for most. Blocking patterns mean that the same type of weather is repeated for days or even weeks.
An upper low over Hudson Bay is what's responsible for the early June snowfall in northern Manitoba and will also drive the cooler air expected across most of Eastern Canada in the days to come.
A second upper low is sitting off the coast of Mexico and a ridge is stretching along the Rockies and into the Yukon, and this will feed off Pacific and coastal air.
If not, the city will likely break the record for the longest wait for the first 20-degree day. The current record is June 10th and it’s been over a month since then.
The real winners of this weather pattern are likely to be in the north of Canada, where temperatures could reach up to 25C. Whitehorse will be the warmest capital city in the country on Thursday, with a forecast high of 24°C, according to the CBM.
The foothills in the Northwest Territories will be provided with some downsloping warmth and will likely be the location for Canada's warmest temperature. The Mackenzie River Valley could also reach 30°C, only seven weeks after sitting at -20°C.

He opens his eyes to see a ceiling painted white. He blinks, slowly shifting in order to lay on his side in a futile attempt to block out the bright light which streams through the open windows.
His attempt encounters resistance, however, and Arthur barely manages to stifle a gasp of surprise. His gaze falls upon the amused blue eyes of one Alfred F. Jones, and the Alpha’s lips pull up into a wicked smirk.
“Morning, beautiful,” he drawls, and the Omega can’t suppress the shiver which makes its way down his body as the taller man drapes an arm over his waist. Alfred leans up, resting his weight on his free arm as he looks over the silent man. His fingers linger upon the base of his spine, tracing nonsensical patterns on the bare skin. “I hope you slept well.”
Arthur barely has any time to respond before the company president’s son leans in, and those devious lips capture his own in another one of his intoxicating kisses. He nips at his bottom lip, waiting for the opportunity to sweep in and claim every crevice in the Omega’s sweet mouth. It gathers the wanted response: the Briton’s lips part in a breathless whimper, and Alfred delves into his opened prize. His fingers trace along the man’s naked form, caressing the curve of his waist, his gentle touch lingering as it ghosts downward.
The flare of his hips, the silken smoothness of the inside of his thighs—the Alpha grins privately to himself as he maps out every centimeter of his beautiful Omega. His. His and his alone, and no one could take him away.
A stifled cry rushes forth from the Briton’s throat as Alfred pulls away with a gentle kiss to his cheek. Arthur looks at him, an unparalleled beauty to those green eyes as they blaze with unrepressed annoyance. And the American smiles to himself, catching a whiff of the arousal coming from none other than the Omega lying before him.
He leans forward, allowing his hand to travel down, down towards the evidence of the smaller man’s undeniable wants. A gasp and a muffled curse confirm his suspicions, and Alfred smirks. “Impatient, aren’t we?” He breathes into the Omega’s ear, earning the smallest of shivers.
“Shut your trap,” he’s pulled his lips down into a scowl, the Alpha notices, and amusement sweetens his scent even as it becomes thicker, richer, with the undertone of his desire. “You and I both know that—“
Whatever acidic retort Arthur wanted to hurl upon him, it’s ultimately lost as Alfred starts upon his downward sojourn, leaving soft, lingering kisses upon the once porcelain skin, now marred by the marks he’d left the night before. Arthur grits his teeth, unable to stop himself from curling his fingers into the still stained sheets as the Alpha’s mouth closes around the tip of his urgent problem down there.
And oh, does he cry out—loudly, brazenly—when lips, teeth and tongue begin to unravel his tightly wound self-control.
“Jones—“ he pants softly, breathlessly, and those hands finally give up their futile grasp upon the sheets in favor of curling into the American’s blond hair. “S-stop teasing m—ah—“
He hums, and the vibrations send countless jolts of pleasure rippling through the Briton as he releases a loud moan. “Alfred—“
Thick and sickly sweet, the scent of roses assault his senses, and the Alpha pulls away from his current project, glancing up through hooded eyes at his lover. The Briton manages an irate huff of his name, irked at the sudden pause in his pleasure as he raises his head to glare at the company president’s son.
“I should’ve known,” Arthur all but snarls, “that you’d be such an absolute git about this.” He’s scowling, splotches of an angry red painting his cheeks, and Alfred can’t help himself as he grins, pushing himself up so that his weight rests on his forearms.
“Come on, sweetheart,” he says with a matching teasing smirk as he allows a hand to trail almost unnoticeable patterns upon the Omega’s straining erection—which makes the recipient utterly mad, in both senses of the word, “haven’t I satisfied you enough last night?” His blue eyes glimmer with intent, and he sees the color drain from the salaryman’s face.
Oh, this is fun. He can’t even begin to comprehend how utterly amusing he finds the fluctuating emotions made apparent through the constantly changing undertones to the Omega’s scent. The Briton possesses one of the toughest masks to crack, after all—it is interesting to see that even beneath it all, such a lovely, obstinate Omega is not any less susceptible to carnal pleasures.
His chest heaves with every shuddering breath he takes as the Alpha moves to lean over him, perfectly straight white teeth bared in a mischievous grin which all but proclaims of his lustful desires. “It’s my turn to play, darlin’,” he coos, and the Briton shivers. Alfred takes note of his reaction as he leans forward, allowing his lips to brush against the edge of the smaller man’s jaw. “I’ve yet to punish you for being late after I called you up yesterday.”
His words seem to fan the almost forgotten embers of the Omega’s ire into a raging flame.
“You swore,” Arthur hisses irately. The American shifts in order to meet those poisonously green eyes as they stare at him with a mixture of barely repressed anger. “You swore that you wouldn’t let anyone in the company know of this dalliance. And yet look what you’ve done—congratulations, you brat, everyone in my department, no, the entire bloody company knows that I’m the heir’s whore.”
Such bitterness lacing the smaller man’s voice takes him aback, and Alfred pauses, carefully reaching up in order to cup his cheek. A sour undertone to his scent warns of the Omega’s apparent ire and sadness, further attested to as Arthur turns his head away from the other man.
“I‘m not your toy, Jones,” his voice has shifted from its aggressive bite into a quiet whisper, yet an almost imperceptible tremor is there—Alfred immediately responds, shifting so that he lies beside the distressed salaryman, arms wrapped in a gesture of comfort around his slender frame. “I told you that when you first coerced me into your bed during your fit of selfishness in order to satisfy your libido. I told you that I‘ve no intentions of repeating the mistake that was that night—and yet,” he laughs, his voice acrid in its sarcasm, “and yet now I still find myself in your bed, in your arms, wanting you despite the fact that I know very well that I shouldn’t—hell, I shouldn’t even be saying this, but I am, and I—I just—“
He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath. “What am I to you, Alfred? If all I am is a quick shag, a hussy you want to play around with—I apologise, but—my pride cannot allow that any longer. I am worth more than being an Alpha’s mere plaything.”
The silence falls between them, tangible to a point that it gradually becomes oppressive, and Arthur, unable to take it any longer, moves in order to release himself from the Alpha’s embrace. Alfred allows him to, watching him with an unreadable gaze as he sits up, the blankets falling away to display the tableau of marks across his once unblemished skin. He knows that he should say something, anything, and yet the American refuses to do so; in its stead, he sits upright, resting a hand upon the Omega’s shoulder. He leans forward, brushing his lips against the back of the smaller man’s neck.
It’s fleeting, yet gentle all the same, and Alfred murmurs a breathless litany of his Omega’s name against his skin. His hand falls to rest atop the salaryman’s own, and, wordlessly, he intertwines their fingers in a loose hold.
“I’m sorry,” he says softly, and he closes his eyes, whispering these words and wishing that they might be enough to let this man look at him with those green eyes again. He knows that it’s a long shot, he knows that it seems insincere. He knows that he is undeserving of the hand he holds in his own atop these white sheets of his bed, he knows that he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven for how he’s played with this man’s emotions.
And yet he tries. He tries, and hopes that it will be enough.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers, his voice a hollow remnant of his obnoxiously deceptive confidence.
“My dearest.”
