Kinda obsessed with the way that Jon (<- guy who literally probably couldn't have done anything differently bc his whole life was orchestrated by an eldritch horror manifestation of the actual fear of being manipulated) blames himself for everything that ever happened actually and Martin (<- guy who was the reason behind so many big decisions, honestly was the one making the choices that really mattered pretty often, who almost became an avatar of the aforementioned fear of being manipulated and i struggle to recall a moment when he himself would seem like he was in fact being manipulated by it to a similar degree as Jon, therefore leaving me to believe that the Web just. Let him do his thing. And trusted that he would have enough of an influence on the world for its plan to work) genuinely believes that he's not important. like. at all. They're so neat I think.

in the final episode of the show, Vanessa tells Doofenshmirtz "you're basically a nice guy who's pretending to be evil" and it changes his entire view on his life. she points out it's not actually making him happier to be "evil". that end to his character is something I think about almost every week. Doof is such an unexpectedly-popular part of this zany cartoon and they chose to point out the most obvious thing about his character only in the last episode, and it makes you look at every rewatch differently with him. it's so great. it's great that Doofenshmirtz stops being evil at the end of Phineas and Ferb. growth is essential to characters. Candace had to grow, and Doof had to grow, and they were the true main characters of the show. the only ones who needed to learn, and they learned. and now in this new season they're choosing to retcon that for the sake of the formula? weak. weak. I hate that

we got through five episodes in our buffy watch today! that being the initiative, pangs, something blue, hush, and doomed

general consensus is slowly becoming divided between us as the girls are having a great time, but our boy friend has been picking this season apart viciously. it's been a very fun new way to look at things

so far, and this is when everyone is in agreement, nobody is well liked this season except for buffy, xander, and sort of spike. even adding him, spike isn't exactly high on the list, he's just one of the only tolerable/entertaining bits of the season for us

here's the rundown for main opinions now:

we all still miss oz terribly and think his episode was stupid as hell

my friends HATE willow. neither of them can stand her anymore, and I think it's kind of fascinating, because I did not have this same reaction upon my first watch alone. they're sick of how little repercussions she gets, and the way she turns every problem into something about her. they also think she's a terrible friend to everyone around her and I agree

we also all hate riley, but not perhaps for the typical reasons I see online. none of us think he's done anything particularly wrong himself and it's more-so because none of us are enjoying him with buffy. I personally think he has a million times more chemistry with willow, and all of us just find buffy and riley saying lots of words and absolutely nothing to each other all of the time incredibly boring

we're sick of the failed buffy romances being her biggest most important plots recently

harmony is so funny. we don't really want more of her but whenever she is on screen it's a good time

xander is definitely gay why is anya with him lol

also him and buffy are the only good people in this season and it's becoming increasingly annoying having to watch them interact with everyone else

what the hell is giles doing. he's slacking on watcher duties when buffy needs him, and being a pain in the ass otherwise. he should be mentoring willow or at the very least helping her with her magic so she's not just doing whatever she wants to and ruining everyone's lives. we don't like giles anymore

this season is so boring we've just started talking over the episodes as we try to piece together how we would "fix it" instead. it feels like you have to turn off your brain to enjoy these episodes, and none of us like that at all

what even IS the overarching plot rn? the season just feels aimless despite the stuff we've seen and guess will be important

for smaller and more differing opinions between us: us girls love anya and spike and think they're adorable, our boy doesn't mind spike but HATES his plotline and doesn't like anya bc of her inconsistent writing, our boy thinks kathy should've been a reoccurring character as just an proper non-hostile demon they have to coexist around, us girls are excited to see more of spuffy

hopefully we'll have another session next tuesday, so we'll see if our opinions change enough to warrant another update

I’m very intrigued by the lifesteal stuff on my dash courtesy of you but I have no idea where to start with it. any chance you could share some recommendations for getting into lifesteal?

I've actually had this question answered before and I'm still just as unsure if I'm the best person to consult (I am going to just copy most of what I said with minor changes bc Ive learned more ✨)

Ok so disclaimer time! I pick favorites and stick with them and have accepted the consequences of not knowing anything outside their povs (also I'm a yt girlie at heart so i lowkey rely on videos than livestreams)

So Lifesteal is still very much a half foot in, half foot out deal due to most of the events usually happening on livestreams so I’m always a bit late on the current happenings.

If you dont mind just throwing yourself into the lore without knowing jackshit, I'd recommend watching PrinceZam, Kaboodle, Pangi, or Derapchu (for livestreams specifically) - I'm sure there's other folks, but I do know that they tend to stream fairly often.

In terms of youtube videos (and slightly being able to catch up on lore) I'd recommend Squiddo (who is a personal favorite of mine, most of her videos tend to be within the half hour mark and are incredibly entertaining the whole way through) as well as Rekrap, JumperWho, Roshambo (though not much for s6), Spokeishere, and Flamefrags. (There are others, as well I'm just listing who come sto mind that)

If you want to get into older seasons I'd recommend watching Branzycraft as he had a fairly regular upload schedule. A lot of lifesteal folks also tend to post longass videos detailing their server journey - though this is often towards the end of seasons or even a bit after. I also recently discovered that saints exist within the fandom and some important events of arcs (such as the eclipse fed/wormhole from s4 have been clipped together into one video).

I have realized (and this may be my own doing) that there’s usually gonna be unexplained gaps in knowledge which is something I’ve just kinda accepted tbh. (Like in general, especially considering the nature of the server and everyone playing 5D chess)

I also tend to doomscroll through character specific tags on tumblr and usually people can be found rambling about events/characterization which is a bit like putting together a puzzle but it slowly comes together (which a piece or two missing)
