originally  i  was  going  to  have  volo  be  fully  aware  of  the  details  of  his  curse,  but  in  hindsight  it's  fairly  unlikely  that  he's  actually  landed  himself  in  a  position  where  he's  been  killed  yet.  he  tends  to  play  things  quite  safe  and  prefers  to  subtly  manipulate  others  into  doing  most  of  the  dirty  work.  i  feel  like  chess  is  a  pretty  commonly  used  metaphor,  but  volo  really  is  just  nudging  everyone  else  around  the  proverbial  board  like  little  pieces.  he  isn't  some  conventional  evil  mastermind  archetype,  but  he  is  very  good  at  playing  the  role  of  a  helpful  but  otherwise  unremarkable  bystander  —  and  that  combined  with  his  sheer  unwillingness  to  give  up  is  all  that  he  really  needs.  when  push  comes  to  shove,  he  can  be  downright  terrifying  to  battle  —  but  volo  would  really  prefer  not  to  use  force  until  he  absolutely  HAS to.  (  once  he  crosses  that  line,  he  can  no  longer  just  pretend  to  be  friendly  and  unassuming  and  harmless.  )  he's  clever  enough  to  realize  it's  more  beneficial  not  to  draw  attention  to  himself.

i  like  to  run  my  blogs  with  a  relatively  chronological  storyline;  every  interaction  builds  upon  the  last,  important  events  have  a  long-term  influence  on  my  muse,  etc.  volo  has  only  actually  been  isekai'd  out  of  hisui  for  about  a  month  or  so  in-universe.  he's  very  new  to  all  of  this.  with  his  tendency  to  play  it  safe,  i  doubt  he's  placed  himself  in  any  real  danger  —  certainly  not  anything  life  threatening.  he  knows  that  he's  been  cursed,  but  he  probably  assumes  being  thrown  across  time  and  space  is  the  end  of  it.  that  it's  an  ironic  punishment.  a  bit  irritating,  though  it  isn't  enough  to  shake  his  revolve.  on  the  contrary,  he's  actually  kind  of  thriving  with  all  of  the  new  resources  at  his  fingertips.

i  feel  like  it's  going  to  serve  as  a  MASSIVE  wake  up  call  if  or  when  he  finds  himself  in  a  situation  that  leads  to  his  death  —  only  to  suddenly  come  back  again,  as  if  nothing  ever  happened.  i  think  it's  the  one  thing  that's  going  to  truly  shake  him,  because  he's  smart  enough  to  understand  the  implications  and  just  how  terrifying  they  really are.  that  a  curse  from  the  gods  is  no  minor  inconvenience  and  suddenly  he's  being  placed  in  a  position  where  his  own  humanity  has been  thrown  into  question.  is  he  actually  prepared  to  spend  centuries  clawing  a  path  to  arceus  like  he  threatened?  does  he  have  a  choice?

he'll  try  to  convince  himself  that  it's  something  he  can  use  to  his  advantage  later,  but  it  will  definitely  mess  him  up  for  a  while.

Can you please help me understand something? I know that everyone says to support L even more during PR stunts - but does that inadvertently show his team that this is working to boost him up? I haven’t been around long enough to know the dynamics of these things so just was looking for some info, not questioning support for him through something he doesn’t want to do of course.

the key part is that we're supporting louis, not the stunt. in fact, part of our support is explaining to others how stunts work, how to spot the signs of a photo being staged, things like that. it makes the stunt less valuable to the people who own louis, and at the same time we never waiver in our overall support of louis as a person and musician.

i havent been here very long either but my thoughts are this: if we support louis all year round, not just during stunt season or music releases, and we, at the same time, dismantle stunts and denounce the industry thats keeping him closeted, our net output is louis support and active harm on the hetero narrative his team is trying to push. i think thats a pretty good net outcome.

what ive noticed with this stunt in particular is that its actively damaging louis' public image. people dont want his clothing anymore, his listeners on spotify are dropping, ect. so our support as larries is mainly helping counteract the lay fans who are turning on him and revoking their flimsy "support" because they dont understand that hes being forced to go along with this.

i support louis always, no matter what hes doing. i dont support the stunt itself, because thats not louis' doing. hes stuck in it. i support who he really is, who hes shown us he is (a queer man), and i support his subtle fight to get out of the homophobic chains holding him right now.

it's a little wild to me still that i am now writing and reading so much yuri

nearly half of my AO3 works are F/F (a mix of traditionally F/M or M/M ships that i've genderswapped and also just traditional F/F ships) and i have plenty of F/F recs in my bookmarks

when i was younger and newer to fandom, i inexplicably had the idea ingrained into me that yaoi was really the only way. this wasn't really said to me directly but i did end up finding straight ships boring and yuri ones just as uninteresting (there was a whole year-ish —actually— when i first got involved in fandom spaces where i did enjoy F/M ships quite a lot but unfortunately i ended up finding those ships boring eventually :( – thankfully i've visited them since then and some of them i appreciate more / write for to this day)

but for years i only read yaoi, only wrote yaoi, only consumed yaoi content – i fed into the idea that all shippers who liked straight ships only did so out of a heteronormative mindset and that all yuri ships were fine but way too boring for me to consume or honestly just as forced as F/M – to be quite honest, i am relatively certain i was one of those people who sexualized M/M quite a bit... i'm not proud of it but it's something i thought about occasionally even back then

but it's interesting to see how far i've come with my history of queer fandom interaction – i honestly love writing yuri and i've even gotten way more comfortable with writing F/M ships alongside that – it's really refreshing and almost cleansing to be free of that negative mindset about gender within shipping because not caring lets me do whatever i want, be creative, have fun, and enjoy writing again with more consistency

i even hated rarepairs back then, dude. i was honestly brainwashed atp – i was definitely one of those kids who would've said "they never even interacted" when presented a rarepair smh – i swear i have grown so much as a person within fandom in the last year alone

it is truly so freeing to be able to say "sure. let them do whatever they want and more importantly i will do whatever i want as well"
