So many people have assumed that area 51 in nevada was the place the government took aliens and experiments but they'd be wrong. If one truly though about it Nevada just doesn't have the enviroment, the history or myths to hide these endeavors no the true place the secrets are held in lies in Virginia deep in the Appalachian mountains after all who would question the missing people the weid sounds and sights in a place considered so haunted.

The mc ends up going on a magical adventure in the forested hills behind the village and past the shrine. A grand epic through the eyes of a child fully experiencing nature, perhaps for the first time. I may do this one.

*edit* Orrrr it could be a horrific journey through the haunted forest behind the shrine of a disrespected god. You're in his domain and reality means very little here.

*Edit of the edit* Alternatively it could be a story of both. Siblings, perhaps twins, who, after being bullied and taking refuge in the forest during a field trip, were inevitably separated and have VERY different experiences, the point of view switching between their paralleled juxtaposed circumstances. In the end both having come out of it for the better, having learned exactly what each needed to.

Wholesome Pov child 1: is jaded and believes nothing will help them. But ends up believing in magic and that at least trying to ask for help is worth it. They aren't alone and should stop acting like it. Things will get better.

Horror Pov child 2: is frightened of EVERYTHING and so is too afraid to fight back. They come out of the forest learning to fight for themselves, destined sword in hand. They realize that blind fear and cowering won't help them out of their problems.

I'm definitely writing this one.

A cruel prank by your bullies leaves you separated from the rest of the class. Instead of finding your way back, you decide to “go missing” and let the consequences catch up to them.
