Is There a Chance Mike and El Were Swapped? Who are Mike's Parents?

This is a part 2 to my "Mike isn't Biologically Related to the Wheelers" theory. However, after some new things I've found, I wanna revoke my previous statement lol. I do believe Mike is technically related, he's just not their son. He is possibly a nephew, Henry's son. El is a Wheeler. Holly could be Jane (which I think is already something theorized). This could be part of some timeline fuckery thing, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to talk about that so this is all I can offer lol

The Wheelers Have Photos of El as a Baby

I'm like... 90% sure these are photos of El/Millie.

If I am correct, then that also means both Mike and Holly do not have photos up in the Wheeler house other than photos taken at the same age they are in S1. They have no photos of them any younger, whereas Nancy does and supposedly El too.

Holly and Mike are the odd ones out... Hence why they're matching the same shade of blue and white collar in the family photo. They're likely family, just not their kids.

This means that all these photos are Nancy -> Nancy -> El -> Nancy... And right above is a painting of 4 birds.

They Literally Are Telling Us Straight to Our Face What's Going On

The Duffers love a twist that's right in front of you. If I'm on the right track, then it really was right in our face this whole time. Like, it really is such a Duffers thing for them to display El's baby pic right in front of us because "Nobody's gonna think twice, right?" WRONG BITCH

Mike introduces his family to El. "That's my sister Nancy. And that's baby Holly." Holly isn't a sister? "What are your parents like?" No response because El doesn't know, but also.. Mike just said it already. "Do they live close?" Closer than the both of you are probably thinking, buddy lmfao.

Later in the season, the kids pretend Mike and El are cousins. Connect this to when Mike tells El that once everything is over, she could live with him and his family. She'd have a mom, dad, sisters. El asks if he'd be like her brother, and he tells her no because "it's different." Well yes... Since you guys are cousins.

Mike tells El that she could have his room since he's in his basement all the time anyway. This is odd considering Mike owns a bunk bed. El is replacing his spot in the Wheeler family. This also another example of Mike not fitting in with the rest of his family.

El wears what Mike wore in his first scene, symbolizing that she's meant to be in Mike's place. She also wears other pieces of his clothing like his jacket. El wears Nancy's dress. El wears a blonde wig matching Holly's hair. She's meant to be part of their family.

El spends the whole show searching for her family, whereas Mike doesn't fit in his.

Karen tells Nancy that she must've been swapped at the hospital because there's no way she gets her good traits from them. Hopper tells Enzo that his son Mikhail is not his son because Mikhail is smart, therefore there is no way Enzo could be his biological father. alright.

Who are Mike's Parents?

While his mother would be unknown, I'd say it's likely Henry is Mike's father.

• Star Wars is the most referenced film franchise in ST and it's by none other than Mike. It's his top 3 favorite films. Star Wars is also a new poster in his room for S5.

Everyone knows the twist. The big bad is Luke Skywalker's father. Luke and Leia realized they're twins after being romantically involved with one and other. I don't think Mike and El are twins, though. There are more implication they're extended family to each other.

• Argyle calls Mike "Romeo." During the monologue, there is something that says "Montague" behind Mike. This could be implying the antagonist (Henry) is Mike's father.

• They share very similar dialogue to one and other. Here's a great post that compiles a lot of the parallels in their lines made by the one and only @heroesbyler !

• And outside of their similar dialogue, they're still very alike to one and other.

Will and Henry parallel because of their experiences with the Shadow Monster/possession and being outcasted from society.

El and Henry parallel because of their experiences with growing up abused in a lab and being outcasted by society.

Mike and Henry parallel because they are different within their family and feel outcasted by society/family. But, what I've also noticed is that their similarities are based on very specific things... Things so specific that it's honestly just giving father and son. Here's what I've found:

Mike and Henry both hold a special place for things that are different and rejected from society. They both put them on a pedestal. Henry finds comfort in spiders because how people are often afraid of them, but Henry believes they are just misunderstood. He resonates with this as he feels rejected from society and outcasted. In a recent panel, Finn tells us that Mike trusted El so much and wanted to help her because he naturally gravitates towards outcasts, as he is one himself. This is literally basically what Henry felt about El.

They both were very keen to helping El for basically the same reason. Like father, like son.

They are both different from their family, isolating themselves from them in their own safe space in their homes. Henry had his attic, Mike had his basement. Both are depicted as lonely individuals, with Henry arguably struggling much more with that due to having nobody at all. I go more into how Mike is isolated from his family and struggles with a sense of loneliness in the first part of this theory.

Henry's wardrobe consists of mainly browns and oranges. Mike's closet in S1 is completely blue and so is almost all of his wardrobe throughout the whole show. Mike in his photo is basically wearing basically the same shirt as Henry just blue.

• They look alike. The same facial structure and sunken cheeks. Young Henry's actor has the same wider smile and I think also has freckles, which I missed. Mike's nose looks more similar to Victor, which would be his grandpa. He gets his eye color from Virginia or his biological mother. His darker hair would likely come from his biological mother as well.

He even has the same comb-over in the epilogue leak.

• Mike has a very, VERY Henry coded song in his playlist. It's Mad World by Tears for Fears. I mean... Come on. This is insane.

• There's shadow that follows Mike throughout the show. It covers his left eye and left side oc his face. This only occurs to Vecna/Henry in Dimension X/Vecna Victims. @wheeler-things also has a bigger post about this, which is what introduced me to this detail!

Mike Being "Part" of Henry/Vecna

If Henry is his father, that could explain some things like how he saw El in the void and how he reached into the UD/Will's vision during Trick or Treating. He is weirdly intuitive about things he shouldn't know related to the UD.

I do believe Mike's monologue was influenced by Vecna to some degree. Not only does the lighting suggest he's being controlled by him, Vecna also.. Pauses? For god knows why?? Vecna literally tells El he wants her to watch and then proceeds to let Mike's monologue go on.

Mike tells El she's a superhero -> El stops smiling -> El looks over to Vecna, who we then learn has been frozen in place this whole time -> El realizes that too

Mike and Vecna could be fighting for control. Makes sense since considered this is all being called a "Mind Fight"

Now let's talking about Will and sensing Henry/Vecna.

Mike walks in the background ominously as Will talks about what he's experiencing. Will tells him he's here....

Here in the house and in Will. There's a separation.

While Mike has the ability to pull him out of his visions easily, he also happens to be there every single time Will senses something in S3 and in S4. They even emphasize it to remind the audience that "Mike is, in fact, there... Just thought you guys should know. No big reason."

Just before that last shot of Will sensing near Mike, we get this shot of Mike while Will talks about sensing Henry:

Will is completely out of focus and nearly out of frame by the end. It's pushing in directly towards Mike. His left eye is completely dark and gets darker throughout the whole scene as well. In scene from S2 I just talked about, Mike's right eye is actually pitch black. Hmmm

Mike and Realizing Henry is his Father

The stories underneath the Mike photo in this S5 bts could possibly be giving us a glimpse of how Mike would react to Henry being his father and his arc.

(I'm going based off what I find on google here btw so i'm so sorry for these likely butchered sumamaries lol)

I won't go too much into The Swiss Family Robinson because there really isn't anything that stands out to me to connect to the actual story, but it follows a big family that got stranded on an island. They all grow up there basically. There's themes of family unity and independence.

Treasure Island is a story about moral ambiguity. It follows a boy named Jim Hawkins who goes on a coming of age journey while on a mission for treasure across seas. He does what he feels is right and moral. He is very brave, intelligent and courageous. Sounding a lot like Mike lol.

Long John Silver is the complex antagonist of the story. He is a charismatic leader. Despite being the antagonist, he's still someone the MC can end up sympathizing and learning from. While he's cruel and manipulative to get what he wants, he still has moments of kindness and genuine care.

Jim is consistently foiling John's plans, much like Mike did in S2 and S3 with Henry. In the end, Jim and John learn a lot from each other and develop as characters as a result.

Mike is a character that thinks very black and white. He loves superheroes and dislikes the bad guys. He has a very "Us vs Them" mentality. While he's the only one not afraid to carry Dart besides Dustin, the moment he realizes it's connected to the UD, he wants to kill it. This part of Mike could use a bit of development because even the show itself doesn't believe in this logic. Bad Guys vs Good Guys isn't the point of this story.

I think him discovering his true parent(s) to be Henry could be an interesting way to explore this aspect of his character.

El looks nearly identical to Karen

I know some people theorize El is Henry's daughter, but she looks more likely to be Karen's daughter just by looks and the evidence I already shared. Mike looks more like a son than just a nephew to Henry.

Just like Henry and Mike, El and Karen share the same exact cheekbone and face structure. El also has the same exact dimple.

Karen's speech to Nancy matches with El perfectly.

"People are always saying that you can't, that you shouldn't. That you're not smart enough, not good enough. This world - it beats you up again and again until eventually... Most people just stop trying. But you're not like that. You're a fighter. You always have been [...] I'm proud of you that you stood up for yourself. That you stood up to those shitheads. And if you believe in this story, then finish it."

El always being controlled and held down by men in her life, always told she can't go somewhere or do what she wants to do. She's relentlessly bullied in Lenora. El stands up for herself regardless in the end. She is a fighter.

The Wheeler Parents have Yet to Actually Meet El

I mean... Don't you think that's interesting..?

She's found family in all her friends. She's found family in Hopper. She's met or is known by every single main character except the two that are likely her bio parents. Mike literally keeps her from his parents for the whole show.

While his parents are aware he's dating a girl, they don't know who she actually is. Mike hides all this supernatural shit in general from them. They've stayed out of the plot the whole show while still being relevant. Like I said in the first part of this theory, this is all for good reason. There is an important reveal.

What Does This Mean for El?

Now even though El could be a Wheeler, I don't think she's gonna choose to stay with them, or maybe this is all some timeline fuckery shit. I think the point is that she will choose for herself what's home to her and where she belongs. I don't think that's with everyone else though. Judging from the leak of Mike and Hopper, I think she's no longer with them. Not dead. She's alive!! Just somewhere else. That's what I think. They wouldn't ever kill her. That's stupid and cruel.

With Mike, I don't think he's gonna suddenly leave his family because of this and hate them, although it'll be hard for him at first when he realizes he's been lied to. But I think if anything, in the end this could finally bring them closer. Every single truth will finally come out.

Jikook and boats

We've established that JM loves the sea, and even more so he loves being there with JK.

As a whole we've seen Jikook on the beach or on boats together.

We know the two might have not planned the whole trip but they certainly were involved in the planning and came up with ideas for activities. So no wonder we get them on a boat in CT and we will be getting them on a boat in Jeju as well.

There is something to be said for that calm of the sea, more so when they have the opportunity to do so when it's just the two of them.

A sense of freedom.

From day to day life, expectations, pressures. Just being there in the middle of nowhere 'alone'.

Even with half a dozen cameras shoved in your face including cameramen behind those cameras.

And when I talk about day to day life, expectations and pressures I'm talking about all those as an idol. Because what we know as all of those are so different than what they do. These young men have been working since their teenage years, JK since he's been 14. They don't know another kind of life (they are experiencing a bit of that now in the military). And even now, years later, being famous - worldwide superstars, super rich, their lives are busy, their schedules chockablock, so much so that while on their solo journey found it hard to spend enough quality time together. And time is not everything. Pressures are not everything. It's also the expectations. Living their lives under that constant criticizing public eye. Not 'allowed' to basically have a private life, as in date, have a long term relationship, love another person, because they 'belong' to their fans.

Look at what's happening with Yoongi.

This latest development utterly disgusting. Ridiculous, and yet hurtful and disgusting.

Point being that is their reality. And getting away from that, to be in the middle of nowhere just the two of them just ocean and them is a dream for them.

So, they took the time.

For JM to catch up on his sleep, seeing that he didn't get much if any the night before only to go on a hike in the morning (no wonder he was taking it slow), JK just being there by his side.

For the two of them to just relax.

And with that sense of freedom, just letting go.

JM climbing JK like a tree not new. Nor is them playing out Titanic.

Obviously Titanic is JK's fave movie, not JM's, and I guess JM is used to be the one JK holds onto when they do this, cause that was no Titanic hug. More so JM just finding that carved out place for him on JK's back and getting comfortable there, lol. JM's closed eyes show us just how comfortable (not wincing because of the sun in his eyes, given that the sun was behind them).

Obviously there was a cut right there and then. Can't help, as usual, but wonder what ended up on the editing floor with this one.

Speaking of freedom and joy, their playfulness was next level (notched up a level higher at the house later on), if it's the way they talked to each other and if it's getting all handsy with each other, again, with the cameras rolling, says it all.

Btw, what bites was JK looking for there? The mosquito bites or his own? He was promised a taste of JM's blood, no?

Look, they knew that a. they wouldn't be taking things too far because of JM's leaking faucet and the staff on the boat (yes, they have signed NDA's, but these are still not company staff and the level of trust is as such); b. there was a whole bedroom under deck where they could be free of prying eyes if they wanted or needed (and they might have just taken advantage of said bedroom - to nap - get out of your dirty heads); c. even if they did go a little too far that's what editing is for. And we did see much of said editing in the show. Just a couple examples of sus cuts: when JK was feeling up JM's nice probably smooth bare leg talking about eating something, when JM climbed JK like a tree, and one example not on the boat - when JM was climbing JK's shoulders while brushing their teeth, laying on the bed, cutting to JK continuing to brush his teeth with his back to the camera. Makes you wonder if there was something he didn't want us to see. You know what I mean. Same thing he ran to the room to grab his big ass coat to cover in BV4.

And believe me, BH editors know exactly when it's time to cut. Not first time at that rodeo for them.

Funny thing is that they know it's curious, and they let us know they know as well, lol.

They had so much fun on that yacht. Even with JM being sick and basically sleeping through much of it. The fact that it was so peaceful and they felt so free allowed him to get the much needed rest and get some of his strength back.

And JK just being there with him. That's exactly what he wanted and needed.

I think the concept of personal space in parkour civilization is different compared to the regular world.

People here have at least one block distance from eachother and even bigger of other levels. Everyone stays on their own block and don't dare to jump on a block person occupying. Mostly because because you just risk to fall off ot with that person, but if you do happen to share this space with someone intentionally it meens something special.

Sharing an already small space with another person? Risking to fall on to the lower parkour lever or even straight into the abyss? That meens you trust them, know that they won't betray you and push you off the block, that they will be careful to not jump straight on you and not fall into your demise. And this person trusting you to give them enough space, that you will catch them if they tip over the edge.

But the highest form of showing trust and connection here is probably jumping together on one block in sync, especially if you're doing it fast and without much effort. When to people move like a man and their shadow, not hesitating in their jump and being able to change direction without any delay on anyone's part - that takes skill and time. Time that they spend together, skill that they grew together.

It wouldn't be surprising if Parkour God and His Champion would also to do that, considering how devoted they are to eachother and ready to risk everything just to be always by their side

As I tend to do I am going to analyze this and give my take; I am going to break this down point by point. First when we come to your idea of personal space being different in Parkour Civilization, I think that is a super fascinating idea. In their world one wrong jump at least if you are a pro or a noob spells death, before evbo took over. As you said this would explain people having a different idea of personal space, the more room you have from other people gives you a more controlled environment for making jumps. Also while not a directly violent society it is shown that people don't view death the same way; they will kill you in a parkour battle if they need to or you refuse to surrender. This idea then can very easily be grafted onto people wouldn't have many reservation of pushing you into the void if it means they get to live; kind of like when people are ice skating and they start to fall so they grab the people around them, stabilizing themselves but causing others to fall. All of these points would imply or at least lend credence to personal space being a much bigger deal in their world; however, there is one thing this argument is neglecting there are places in the world without parkour.

In this universe the outside world is a majority parkour, this is of course reflected in other parks of their society with things like transactions being parkour and in the architecture. However on the note of architecture while parkour is incorporated there are still large area's with zero jumps. This raises an interesting issue. While outside people want as much space as possible, so would this also be reflected while inside where jumps aren't as plentiful? Would people let down their barriers if they think they are safe, or does life harden them to never trust the people around them even when they don't pose a threat? Honestly I don't have an answer to this that satisfies me; I don't know enough about behaviors or habits and how they form to give a well informed answer. One would assume that when you are almost always in a situation of life or death a moment of peace wouldn't make you drop you walls, however the people in this world don't act normally.

Evbo for example loves parkour, everyone does, and death is seen as not really something that is important even back when it was permeant. So would these people view this as a life or death situation or just another day? I think a parallel to real life would be driving, by all measures it is very dangerous but a huge number of people do it everyday; every time someone steps behind the wheel of a car their chances of dying that day skyrocket but we don't care. This might also be the way people in their world view doing jumps. Of course its dangerous but its life and they don't know anything different than it. Of couse when we drive we follow rules, more or less. I could see this being the same as traveling with parkour there are rules you follow but once you get to solid ground then you can relax. This is all to say that while personal space is important outside, once inside it becomes more akin to how we view it. I feel like i've bled this point dry so I'll move onto another thing you brought up which was doing parkour simultaneously or on the same block.

Even if doing parkour is just a common task to these people I still think they would see doing it on the same blocks as someone a very personal thing. If I once again make a parallel to the real world and automobiles this might be something similar to riding on a motorcycle. It is a much more dangerous thing to do and requires close contact, if you have any sense you would need to have a huge amount of trust in the person you are doing it with because if either of you screw up it could mean certain death. As a certified Mavbo shipper I of course think this would translate into their relationship. However, I'm going to take it a step further.

I don't think EMF would fear doing any jumps. His best friend, his love, is the god of parkour. He is loved by the very concept, so would he ever be hurt by it? Would he believe that Evbo would never let his domain bring harm to him, even if he makes a mistake does he have complete faith in his god to make it okay? I would think so. I think this is especially true when we consider the type of person Evbo is. He is someone that does dangrous insane things knowing the risks but has faith that he will succeeded. Seeing this same philosophy being practiced by his most devote, I don't think he would let that trust in him, in his idea be misplaced.

While I do have more to say on this topic I have to return to doing work. My books on arbitration law wont read themselves, sadly. I hope this was an adequate response. Also I was being serious earlier assume you are the same person as all of the other askes your writing has a lot of emotion in it and is very compelling. I could def see it doing very well in fanfic spaces, but you do you.

Silent Salt and White Lily cookie prediction

Silent Salt will NOT be a romantic or an obsessive character, in my opinion. If you simply look at his name and his character design, it would be odd for his story to go in that direction at all. I would expect him to be a very quiet character (obviously, lol) who might only have a few lines for White Lily cookie alone. He probably will not talk to her at first though, if she tries to get him to. He’s most likely the type to only speak in the moment of heat, for example, during a battle where him or his opponent is about to die. I think that the story will speak for itself a lot in their episode, due to them both being introverted characters, likely to say more through their own actions or personal interactions with the other characters/environment. If they have a lot of contact and dialogue with each other, I’d be surprised. 

I think they will have the most parallels and the most in common between all of the ancients and beasts. Their arcs will also have a lot of similarities in comparison to each other. I can see the possibility for themes of guilt and DEFINITELY existential dread or severe identity crises. The topic of life and death will be prevalent, since that has been a reoccurring concept in White Lily’s cookie (the creation of cookie kind, the witches eating them- killing them, her rebirth as dark entrance cookie when she “died”). If you look at Silent Salt’s design, he is carrying a single sword, likely with the intent to execute using it. I imagine he is a very devoted character (soldier imagery) and will hold strong beliefs/ideals, just like White Lily cookie does. Solidarity: unity or agreement of feeling or action. That is what he resembled in the past. There’s a large possibility he also wanted to help cookiekind, and bring them together, to foster community through his own actions. This is akin to White Lily’s studies and her taking the responsibility of discovering the truth of cookie’s creation, to build the perfect cookie, to assist in the building of a better society. Only it went horribly wrong. Silent Salt will likely have a very similar arc, with the same hopes and dreams at the start, to everything taking a turn for the worst, and then becoming a symbol of silence - the absence of hope and fostering community. Once again, this is perfectly paralleled with White Lily’s transformation into Dark Enchantress cookie, a symbol of mass destruction with the absence of hope- in favor of the truth, no matter how cruel. 

I can’t really predict their interactions with one another, but if I had to guess, Silent Salt will be very difficult to reach, and even harder to communicate with. Dramatic moments will happen, and lots of support may be required on White Lily’s end, since she has cut ties with Pure Vanilla and will most likely be separated from all of the other ancients. She also, of course, feels a lot of responsibility, and thinks handling situations independently is something she must do to make up for her crimes. It’s in her own nature to keep to herself, too. There will be powerful solo moments for her as a result. 

Her transformation into her awakened form will be a very significant one, as it is her ascending into someone better, instead of descending into someone worse (Dark Enchantress). I really hope we get another beautiful costume for her lol

As for what comes of Silent Salt, I feel like he will be very physically impaired by the end. His identity will likely be exposed, and his guilt on display for everyone else to see. Redemption probably isn’t something that’s impossible for his character. But, it’s arguable too that any of the beasts could redeem themselves if they really desired to. I mention redemption for him specifically though, because I have a very strong feeling his arc will have a lot to do with his identity, much like White Lily cookie. She feels strong bouts of guilt- and I could consider him also experiencing guilt as a possibility to mirror their characters. Anyways, I say physically impaired because his current design looks like one of great strength and resilience. Behind the armor, he might be much more vulnerable/weak, especially in comparison to White Lily’s power. That’s not to undermine his abilities or say he won’t be dangerous- it’s likely that White Lily will also end up being severely injured in one of their interactions. Whatever violence occurs won’t be emotional, though- like with Burning Spice (excitement/joy), Shadow Milk (pleasure, fun), Mystic Flour (to make Dark Cacao devoid of his values and become apathetic- a lack of emotion), or Eternal Sugar (to keep her second half for herself, out of “love”). Silent Salt’s violence will feel dutiful and emotionless, making him more fearsome than the other beasts. Many things White Lily does is also impersonal- her accidentally shutting others out, a result of her isolative dedication to her studies, for example. I can’t see White Lily and Silent Salt yelling at one another, or having any strong releases of emotion, at least not in front of others. 

However, the beasts and ancients also have lot in contrast with each other. If Silent Salt isn’t a guilty (in private) character, then I’d assume he’ll be a character with a complete absence of guilt, which will make for lots of scary interactions between him and White Lily. He may question her guilt, make her wonder if her guilt is actually wrong- and make her consider the possibility that Dark Enchantress cookie’s actions were justified, according to his worldview. Like Pure Vanilla’s temporary transformation into the Truthless Recluse, she might turn into some semi-evil form of herself due to the return of doubt and despair. That would surprise me, though, as she already underwent a major physical change (her transformation into Dark Enchantress). Even if that doesn’t occur, his lack of a guilty conscience will likely have a negative influence on White Lily. I don’t imagine he’d play any mind games, he’ll probably take a hands-on approach to fighting, much like Burning Spice (less reveling in the battle itself though, of course). 

I look forward to the direction they take with their dynamic! With what we currently have seen regarding White Lily’s character, I think they’ll have a very interesting relationship.

HAJAHAJSHISHWJD IM!!!! SO GLAD YOU ASKED bc honestly I had a period of time where I put a lottt of thought into KC for the purpose of blending him into my fix-it au!!! I'm gunna treat these asks as one bc tbh I'm just bad at distinguishing the two BSJABDJD

Ahem ahem. adjusts tie. I'm gunna start off with lil one-off headcanons and then I'm gunna delve into deeper thoughts and analysis.

I think the reason KC talks with such a deep, slow drawl is due to the fact that he was never meant to be a person + he specifically formed through being pushed down over and over. Due to the fact he was never meant to speak or think or exist, his vocal processing is slower and harder to force out compared to others who were actually programmed with it.

I've never drawn KC like this bc I've never properly put it to paper, but I think KC's early lava theming was everything. I love to imagine early KC with a red-orange-yellow-black color scheme, but as he changes, he quite literally "cools down", his color palette turning into an obsidian purple-grey-black scheme instead.

Tbhhh I used to be an it/its KC truther but I realized he's probably not the type to own the "I'm an object, a force of nature" vibe. I moved my it/its tsams truthing to Solar Flare <3

I'm, of course, going to focus on KC! However, it's important going forward to note the 3 major ways I've noted the kill code manifests: through the need for death, the need for injury, and the need for disorder. There is more nuance, but that's how I've mostly boiled it down! Then, beyond that, these urges can either be tamed, quelled, or ignored.

KC is an example of the need for disorder, but not death or injury! He's said before that he doesn't desire the bloodshed, merely "the thrill." (Sources here and here) This also applies to why he treats people like pawns rather than people! He manipulates them to get the thrill of control, of being intimidating enough to make people listen rather than fight back.

However, notably, KC is also an example of someone with ignorable code urges. So ignorable, in fact, that he just... stops. He literally just decides to stop being evil! Not even Moon could do that, who is the only other person with ignorable urges. Moon could ignore them, yes, but it took monumental amounts of effort and he was very prone to caving if something went slightly wrong.

(I'm... not including Eclipse in this because he is a thorn in my side the moment he comes into the picture with the kill code. He's dubious as fuck and if I touch on that, this post won't be about KC anymore 😭)

This detail has always deeply fascinated me because... why? Why is it that those derived from him can be so powerless to the code, while he himself was able to walk away so easily? Now admittedly I never actually came up with a fully-baked reason when I first came up with all this, however! These are my impromptu theories from least to most plausible:

Because so many people stemmed from him, it sort of "chipped away" at certain parts of the code that left him as a technically incomplete version of the code. [Iffy bc isn't part of the kill code that it would "regrow" when taken apart?]

Because he is the kill code, rather than someone living with it. It could potentially be that being the direct source has a different effect than having it woven into you. [Maybe, but then it'd beg the question of why "direct source" vs "added-in" makes such a difference. Could potentially explain why Eclipse is also not as violent bc he's also directly the code split off?]

Because his ass didn't change!!! That this was another facet of his manipulation craving!!! We never saw him after his redemption so do we really know if he wasn't doing kind things with the intend to get more praise, more power, more respect? His intent matters still, just because he was feeding the poor doesn't mean he wasn't smug that so many humans were dependent on him. [This is honestly what I lean for, I just didn't know how to put it into words until now LMAO]

When I used to subscribe to more dadcode headcanons, I used to wonder of he'd endure shitty humans whispering behind his back about how scary he looks, how it's suspicious, but they wouldn't actually know anything. He'd just feel scared because they're skirting too close to the truth.

Now though? I think he'd find that to be the perfect opportunity to lean into their fear, to do something right then and there that'll make them shriek and flinch back. Like. I genuinely don't know why he'd be able to just, flip on a dime! I think he worked a soup kitchen to have people to control and be respected. I think he made friends so he could have a disposal of people to do what he wants. I think he'd get a thrill out of all the humans around him being intimidated by his presence—his red eyes, his claws, his toothy smile.

That idea is also a very big basis of KC in my previously mentioned fix-it au!! Because when he reunites with Bloodmoon, it's not a sweet father-son moment. KC, subconsciously, still views Bloodmoon as the perfect and most loyal tool! So, he immediately falls back into promises of comfort and glory through telling them "stop eating. look at me, i've ignored my code this long and been fine, no? your hunger will go away eventually. the pain will go away. stop eating."

I just. augrhegrhegr. I honestly adore KC's potential he's so fascinating to me. what's wrong with him!!!!!!

100% my Fav, if my Tumblr wasn’t an indicator of that lol. A major reason being that he has so much more to his character than first glance (especially in terms of angst for fics) he very clearly has some self worth issues and puts that into his personality by making himself more palatable to a larger audience would enjoy. (Mean Rockstar persona) Also him looking for validation from Sera was already a huge indicator that there’s more to him than ‘Haha funny evil fat man >:)’ But I do really like Angel, Lucifer, and Vaggie a lot.

Adam ships are complicated for me. Let’s get the obvious ones out of the way, I LOVE AdamsApple, GuitarSpear, and more recently GuitarGate. But While AdamsApple is my major one, I only like it if it’s done right. I dislike when they make, for example, Sinner Adam get treated like garbage by Lucifer and he’s in charge of ‘punishing’ Adam or something like that. IDK the concept just seems toxic, which I know, the ship itself WILL have inherent levels of toxicity, but it still rubs me the wrong way. Just my opinion tho

As for ships I don’t like, I’m pretty open with his ships but one I’m not a fan of is GuitarPrincess. There’s nothing illegal with it, so I’m not going to attack you for it. Im just not a fan of it. Another one is probably Alastor x Adam. I just don’t see it. They both oppose eachother in literally everything. Adam hates Jazz, Alastor loves it. Alastor doesn’t seem to like people more powerful than him and only respect them because he’s afraid of them (just my theory) and he clearly didn’t respect Adam because he completely underestimated how strong the first man would be. but ship what you want within reason OFC

Sigh I wish. I LOVE the concept of Sinner! Adam because IT JUST MAKES SENSE! The whole show is about redemption and how bad of a soul can actually be redeemed in the hotel. Him being reincarnation as a sinner would be both the perfect karma for him, but also the perfect test for Charlie. She couldn’t turn him away, even if she hates him. She’d be a massive hypocrite for letting Alastor work with her and also just general defeating the purpose of a hotel being completely open to all sinners.

But…. Something I’ve had a constant fear for about Adam coming back as a sinner is, that Lute might kill him. I just feel like it’s something that COULD happen as her view of sinners becomes even more warped. I just wouldn’t want that to happen, to bring him back only to kill him would be worse than just not bringing him back at all.

As for what I would want to happen, I’d like to see him and Lucifer ‘reconcile’ and to know more about what actually happened in Eden. With them reconciling, I also don’t want it to be solely on Adam to do, Lucifer also has to be able to accept that he hurt Adam and pretty much fucked him up for life. I don’t want the entire blame of the issue to be on Adam because it just seems like a waste of character development for BOTH of them.

Whether or not Adam will return in season 2… I would say he won’t. I think Abel is there to fill his absence BUT I do think we’ll get him in Season 3 (maybe even teased in the end credits of season 2 maybe?) I do want him to return, but I want it to be handled with care. I want him to have a redemption arc because it’d suck if characters like Lucifer, Vox or LILITH are given a slap on the wrist for what they’ve done in the show. And I ESPECIALLY don’t want them to kill him after he returns or make him a joke character to be bullied 😔

Hmmmm, I’d like to think he’s a good dad for the sole reason that I love Dad! Adam content, but I can see it going either way TBH. Abel seems more open to people and less of an asshole, so he probably thinks of Abel as a Wimp. But I think that his view of Abel was heavily affected by what happened with him and Cain. He could potentially see Abel as nothing but a child because he see’s him as helpless after witnessing his death. (Similar to how Sera sees Emily)

My main and only hope is that they don’t make him an Abusive deadbeat or something (if they do I WILL ignore it lol)

YESSSSSSSS. How can anybody call him ugly, I SWEAR. Mask, hot. His face? Hot. Everything is hot. As for the main thing attractive with his design, with the mask, definitely the LED face, don’t know why, it’s just so NWAOHSKAIAB. And without mask, I loooooove his eyebaggs/eyeliner and also his stubble. It’s just those subtle details of character design that shows that he’s definitely not in the best head space (eyebags, stubble, and paler skin being big indicators of men’s physical indicator of their mental health not doing so hot) so I just love him a lot!

I would like to see him interact with Saint Peter and Emily (they HAVE to have the most hilarious interactions. Those innocent angels meeting the vulgar first man would be a dream come true 😭) and also Abel and/or Cain. If they make him a sinner, it’s more than likely he would have interactions with Cain at some point. Not to mention, I’d like to know how Abel died. Cause in the Bible he was the first human to die, but in Hazbin, Adam was the first. So maybe Cain killed Adam then Abel? Or maybe Abel was sent to purgatory and was only let out after Adam died? Who knows!

I actually kinda wanna talk about a common trope I've seen a lot in tmnt 2012 + rise crossovers involving interactions between the two Donnies, specifically about 12 Donnie's romantic feelings and stalkerish tendencies towards his April, because I do think there's actually room for analysis in there about how rise Donnie would feel about it. I personally don't think it would be the "lol ew you're weird" that I typically see in these kinds of crossovers (I know it's supposed to be a joke most of the time but still).

To begin, let's start with the fact that rise Donnie is no stranger to keeping tabs on his bothers without them knowing.

He admits that he "records everything" in The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle, and that he at some point before the events of the movie put subcutaneous tracking devices in his brothers (and possibly even Casey too despite not knowing him for that long), and in both of those scenes, none of them seem to have known about it up until those points.

So he's perfectly fine with spying on people, but unlike 12 Donnie, he seems to keep tabs on his family and friends through more indirect means like trackers and recording them instead of just straight up stalking them. You could argue that using more isolated methods instead could be a way for him to justify it, since tracking devices and recordings that you don't particularly have to be present for are a few steps removed from physically following someone around, but given how Donnie seems perfectly willing to resort to violence and murder in many instances I genuinely don't think it's an issue of morality for him. I think he just believes spying with his tech is simply more effective and time saving

So he's fine with spying on his brothers, but we don't exactly know if he'd do the exact same thing in romantic relationships. I do think it's likely, since him placing trackers on them is most likely a way for him to ensure their safety without being upfront about it, so if he cares about someone romantically he'd probably do the same thing too.

Rise as a series doesn't have too much romance in general but there are at least two hints in the show about Donnie and how he feels about romance, particularly in War and Pizza and Mascot Melee.

He calls Cherry Tomato "cute and mean" and asks himself why he always goes for her type, and calls Atomic Lass his childhood idle before asking her if she was single after their dance fight. He's clearly capable of having romantic feelings for certain people, but these examples aren't real people in-universe, so it's entirely possible that he only experience romantic attraction to fictional characters. That's also another degree of separation since April in 2012 is a real person whereas Cheery and Atomic Lass are not.

So I think that's it for rise Donnie. On to 2012

One other thing I've seen that's pretty common with this trope is people making 12 Donnie act all...proud for how he acts around April? Where he admits to stalking her like it's some casual thing? Which...he absolutely would not do.

In Mutagen Man Unleashed, he looked embarrassed—almost ashamed even—to admit here that he was following her before hand, meaning he knows it's wrong and quite possibly wishes he hadn't done it in the first place. I would say it's probably likely he feels guilty because he got caught, but given the fact that he voluntarily admitted that he knew April was at the park with Casey, I personally doubt it.

Since it's very likely Donnie's feelings towards April potentially stem from his self-hatred of being a mutant, I honestly don't think he'd be that proud of the fact that he's stalked her in the past.

This crossover trope ESPECIALLY wouldn't work after season 3 episode 2.

A Foot Too Big's entire overarching plot revolves around Donnie's feelings towards April, and him being confronted with the truth of how he's been acting around her.

(Now in my opinion this episode didn't even do a good job of that anyway considering that Donnie never followed her around LITERALLY all the time or grabbed her or kissed her without consent, which—by the way—is considered sexual assault, but this isn't the point I'm trying to make here. Maybe for a future analysis)

Point is, at that point Donnie has already learned his lesson, so it would make justifying the whole "12 Donnie would lovingly talk about stalking April as if it's normal" even harder to justify.

Tl;dr: I honestly doubt rise Donnie would care about 12 Donnie's behavior towards April, especially considering the fact that 12 Donnie is not proud of it and has learned from it. In all honesty I can see the most likely outcome of them meeting being 12 Donnie nervously admitting that he used to follow her around only for rise Donnie to tell him that if he's really worried that much he should just put a tracker on her, and that it'll save him half the effort.

that’s it that’s the title i’m going with. this is a long one folks o7

most of this isn’t sourced or canon at all it’s just personal interpretation/headcanon/whatever else u wanna call it, but!! since more people are seeing my deranged gravity falls ramblings now i figure i should probably give some perspective as to why i like/defend ford as much as i do

(in my other gf posts i do try to stick to canon to back up whatever point i’m making - this is just about my personal opinion of ford as a character, and should be able to be thrown out in regards to my other posts)

so for some background/setup/whatever (it’s important i promise bear with me), different people have different instinctual responses to anxiety/stress. i come from a family (genetics are fun) where the default response is to start (metaphorically ofc) biting and hissing like a cornered animal. this doesn’t necessarily mean there’s any actual hatred or malice or anything towards the people that end up getting scratched - they might just be at the wrong place at the wrong time, they might’ve done something super minor and insignificant that added on to a preexisting pile of stress, etc etc

i cannot stress enough that i am not saying this is ok. you dont need me to tell you that hurting people who don’t deserve it is a bad thing, lol. what i am saying though is that sometimes people can kind of suck for reasons other than just genuinely wanting everyone around them to be miserable

this is the last “background” part i swear BUT another thing thats less genetic and more just me being weird is that i’m the type of person where like. any minor environmental change can really stress me out lol. like even just reorganizing my desk can be pretty emotionally taxing

SO. finally back on topic. stanford pines. i see a lot of the behavior/patterns i just described in him. like i’ve spent my entire life around people like this, and while i understand why a lot of people see him as just some asshole, i can’t help but see him as a guy who’s just kinda going through it lol

just talking about the more recent events as of the series, he’s just spent 30 years god knows where doing and seeing god knows what, he has an abusive ex who wants to murder him and his entire family (plus the whole dimension, really), and in the three decades he’s been gone the entire world - including his own house - has changed and left him behind. add onto that that he went missing in 1982, way before we had all of the emotional/mental health resources we have now, we all saw what the stans’ childhood was like, and that ford is terrible with people - including, imo, himself. if there’s anybody out there who would have Feelings and not understand what they are or where they’re coming from or what to do about them, it’s this guy

this entire setup is the perfect circumstance for fear and anxiety and stress and uncertainty to all get translated into anger. a really big example of this, to me, is how he talks about dipper in journal 3. i’ve talked about this before somewhere so i’ll try to summarize as fast as i can lol

reading his initial entry about dipper would make u think he like. hates this kid lol. but i really don’t think he ever did - he was really excited to meet the kids in the show and already seemed to care about them just by virtue of existing, and his opinion on dipper in journal 3 seems to do a complete 180 pretty quickly which ,,, doesn’t really fit ford as a character. like i love the man but that guy can hold a GRUDGE

here’s how it reads to me:

ford gets back to his home dimension after 30 years and everything is different

he’s subconsciously kind of struggling with the fact that he doesn’t really have a “home” anymore - the sense of familiarity and comfort that would normally come with the word is gone. (i specify that it’s subconscious because, like i said earlier, i do not get the vibe that he’s particularly aware of his own emotions)

he finds out that journal 3 - something he made with his own two hands and considers part of his life’s work - has also changed in the decades he’s been gone. this adds to the feeling of unfamiliarity with the world around him

it’s easier to blame that “final straw” and say that he’s just upset about his work being tampered with rather than address the actual root of the problem, so that’s exactly what he does. this still doesn’t mean that there’s any genuine hatred towards dipper. anger in the moment, yeah, but not hatred

again, this is entirely personal interpretation, and i completely understand if u don’t see it like this!! this is just a pattern of thoughts/behavior that i’m very familiar with, so it’s easy for me to apply it to situations like this even if it’s not really part of the canon

i also think there’s a big problem in this fandom with just ,, not seeing ford as a Person with Emotions? idk how to explain it but it feels like people expect him to always know exactly what to do in every situation just bc he’s old and academically smart. like whenever another character does something objectively bad it’s “well there were extenuating circumstances,” (which is usually true and i agree !!) but ford never really seems to get that treatment. if he does something bad it’s just because he sucks

a big example of this i think is the fight between him and stan (y’know the “you ruined my life”/“you ruined your own life”). you cannot look me dead in the eyes and, in full seriousness, with the context of everything ford was going through with bill at the time, say that he was fully mentally/emotionally stable during that conversation. “oh so you’re blaming stan-“ NO!!! stan was also going through it!!! that’s the entire point - they’re both people with their own lives and emotions and everything else that comes with that, they had very human reactions to their respective situations, and they both ended up hurt!! hopefully i’m explaining this right but i just don’t like it when people pin everything on ford, like there was a lot going on and at the end of the day he’s just a human

wasn’t really sure how to work this in so i’ll just put it here - i don’t think ford ever truly hated stan, either. familial bonds are complicated, and there can be a whole lot of anger towards someone without true hatred being present. i briefly mentioned the stans’ childhood sucking earlier, and i don’t just mean stanley - it’s easier to pinpoint him as a victim of abuse/neglect, but that doesn’t mean ford had it great either. their parents (specifically filbrick, but caryn didn’t exactly do a fantastic job with them either) expected nothing of stan and the world of ford, both of which would weigh heavily on any child. plus, ford being the favorite doesn’t mean all of his emotional needs were met - filbrick seeing him as an opportunity to make money doesn’t mean he was suddenly an emotionally present and caring father towards him. WCT wasn’t just an opportunity for ford to go be a famous scientist or whatever - it was a chance for his father to love him, something both of the stans desperately wanted. (WCT was also on the opposite side of the country from where they lived but i’m sure that’s completely unrelated !!!)

do i think stan deserved anything that happened to him after the science fair incident? no, absolutely not, he was a child. do i think it was right of ford to just stand there as his brother got thrown out? no, absolutely not - but he was a child too. as for them not speaking for a decade after that, like i mentioned earlier ford can hold a grudge like no other. (this doesn’t just apply to stan, either, ford dedicated half of his life to trying to kill his ex lmao.) i think ford’s ability to hold on to anger like that is actually a pretty major part of/flaw in his personality, but again, anger - even the strongest, most long-lived of it - is not synonymous with hatred. stan, who ford has always gone to for help when he truly needed it, it not what ford’s hatred looks like. bill, who ford actively wants to die, is

anyways!! i never know how to close these things lol. ig in summary i just see ford’s behavior (in the show at least) as more of a sign of internal struggle rather than like ,, genuinely hating the people around him and wanting their lives to suck. did/does he have an ego problem? absolutely. is he incapable of love and human connection? no. is he immune to manipulation/abuse/neglect/etc and everything that comes with that? also no

The xavier x lady of the lake!reader piece had a subtle medieval tone and that mini mention of 'lumiere/magic' left me mystified - I was expecting him.. quenching his thirst from his lady of the lake but the finger action was most appreciated hahaha The rafayel x bloody mary!reader tidbit had me cheering on the inside because dominating rafayel is like a guilty please of mine I swear x3 bloody mary! reader about to make his blood pump (by pumping his dick ^_~). The combinations of the lads love interests and monsters were quite well matched when you think about their in game lore. For example, the gorgon!reader paired with sylus who has his own power stemming from his eyes and ties to Onichynus. The lady of the lake! reader paired with xavier who's basically a crown prince. I imagine Sylus is immune to her stare because of his red eyes (something so rare, that he's the only one who possesses them). lore wise, I would like to think that a gorgon would know when to find her soul mate when she meets "a man with red eyes." awwww and yes! the snakes do give him little love bites, but they also like to nuzzle up against his neck because he smells amazing all the time. our poor gorgon!reader hates her own body for betraying her in this way in the beginning, but she grows to love the reactions. regarding xavier, I definitely wrote this out where he loses his control over his own temptation towards the lady of the lake. he was honoring his duties, he just got swept up by such beauty, you know? "pumping his dick" is correct with rafayel! hahaha I just want him blushing red and begging her to stop. but believe me when I say that he summons bloody mary!reader quite often after that. I have a pretty light ask but this is something ive been trying to work out recently.

Basically I have a friend - lets call her A for the record - and she's a really nice person! Like a motherly-ironic type. However, no matter how nice she is, she has actually no filter in what she says. Whatever she thinks she will say. While this is a good thing a problem i (and other friend K) have with her is that she never says nice things like that. For example, we all have a mutual friend who is really into her. Not only romantically but also as a person and he geniuenly cares about her and her opinion. His parents are divorced and he has two sisters so his mom works extra hard to afford the food and everything. Because of that she works late hours and the house isnt messy but its a bit chaotic (it actually is far from being messy but theres just a lot of things happening). But his house is really comfy and its our place to just chill. When he wanred to invite us over for his BIRTHDAY she said she wont come because (in her opinion) his house holds (and here i quote) "bad energy" & its dirty. (Its really not)

Im a pagan so im into witchcraft anf the house was really fine, so im not sure where the comment came from but it was very hurtfull for him.

Another thing is that she really likes helping. Shes the type of person to help a random girl whos crying on the street. Its really sweet but it is a bit annoying. Example: i did my homework badly because i really wanted to be done with it and she asked if she can copy it. I gave it to her but didnt really want to because (as i mentioned) it was done wrong (which she knew about) and because last time i gave her homework she gave it to other people which did made fun of me so i was taken aback. Again as i feared she gave the BADLY done homework to other students in out class. I asked her why did she do it if i asked her last time not to do so and she just said she doesnt thinj she did anything bad. After all she just helped our friends by giving them homework. Except it was mine and i didnt want to share cause IT WAS WRONG.

Yeah so i basically wanted to ask for advice how to gently imply to her that her actions & words are actually hurting people and she doesn't realise it. She also never apologise on her own and when she does say 'sorry' then its only because me or K told her she was rude and she just should admit to that.

Honestly, this is the type of thing that you have to be honest about. You have to tell your friend that she's hurting people. I mean, you can even show her a version of what you wrote here, or tell her something similar: That you know she's caring and likes to help, but sometimes her actions hurt. I know you're afraid of upsetting her, but the alternative is that she continues to act this way, you continue to get hurt, and your friendship eventually fails. It's okay to be honest with people when they've hurt you <3 Just make sure to sit her down and approach the conversation seriously so she knows you're serious. If she gets angry from there, then it might be a sign to take a step back from the friendship.

I'm so confused right now.. so I just saw a Pro Snape post and it was about the prank and how the Marauders were wrong and everything right cool,but my problem is the post had "SA is wrong no matter the victim" (which true) and basically the Marauders fans are protecting perpetrators. And I'm confused cause I've never read the books, so I don't know the exact specifics of the prank, but I've never heard anything about SA up until now. Was everyone not talking about this, or is the person who made this post just lying, or maybe I didn't understand the post?? I don't know. Please clarify if you know what's going on here. Yeah, I like to think I have a pretty good knowledge of canon and the marauders never SA'd anyone, nor did Snape SA anyone. They were all awful to each other in canon, absolutely, but not like that. The main instance in the books that I can think of is that Merope, Voldemort's mother, used love potion to seduce Tom Senior, Voldemort's father, which a lot of people consider SA. But yeah...people can correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of anything. I'm wondering if maybe they were making a comparison? Like saying bullying is wrong, no matter the victim, just like SA is wrong, no matter the victim? Which...bullying is wrong, a thousand percent, but comparing it to SA is wild, imo.

Edited to add: okay someone wrote in to remind me that in the fifth book, in the chapter titled "Snape's Worst Memory" when Harry sees James and Sirius bullying Snape, there is a moment when they have him upside-down and they take off his pants with magic. They then threaten to (but Harry never finds out if they actually) take off Snape's underwear. I re-read it to double check. According to wikipedia, which I acknowledge can often be wrong, "Pantsing, also known as depantsing, debagging, dacking, flagging, sharking, and scanting, is the act of pulling down a person's trousers and sometimes underpants, typically as a practical joke or a form of bullying." It also says "Pantsing can be used as a form of bullying and is technically the crime of simple assault." So it looks like legally, pantsing someone is considered a form of simple assault, not SA. At most, if the intentions were different, it sounds like it might be considered sexual harassment.

I have mixed feelings because I'm not a survivor of SA, so I can;t completely understand. So part of me wants to argue that this is not SA, and saying it is minimizes actual instances of SA. BUT given this context, I can see why someone might personally feel like this is SA because it is very exposing. Legal definitions aside, it was a very horrible and violating thing to do, obviously. I'm open to hearing thoughts, but please send them to my DMs, not in the comments here!

Yes! She very much is. When she goes off the rails punishing the kids it’s in situations that remind her of her prior failures! She loses her head over the dragon incident because as far as she can see, James Potter’s son and his friends have lured their petty rival out of bed in the night with the notion of getting them into trouble for their involvement with a dangerous magical creature. Which. Like. This has in fact happened before, and the last time it happened she helped sweep it under the rug. (And I do think it’s on purpose by JKR — she mentions Sirius as someone close enough to the Potters to have tried to go to their home after they were killed right at the start of PS, I bet she had at least the general outline of the werewolf prank/the Snape vs. James and Sirius backstory in mind when she wrote this.) In PoA she flips out at Neville … again, because she can’t punish 1975!Remus for letting his friends run rampant and can’t punish Sirius or anyone who’s actually at fault. IMO she does as bad a job as Severus does when it comes to separating Harry from her memory of James lol, she just was fairly fond of James so it usually comes out in Harry’s favor.

The text makes direct parallels between Minerva and Severus quite a few times. They both struggle with stress management and are biased sometimes. The major differences in their teacher personas are that Harry likes Minerva, and Minerva likes Harry. And if Severus is at his worst in the books, which I'm pretty sure he is, then who would call him an inherently cruel person?

But actually, I wonder if Minerva had known that Remus was a werewolf? I think it's confirmed that Albus and Poppy knew about it among the stuff, but that's all. Yes, she was his head of house, but as we see in Harry's time, it doesn't exactly mean a very significant investment in the life of each individual student. For example, she (like all the other teachers) doesn't notice that something is wrong with Ginny. It's kind of a little dumb to not notice a thing that major, but the fact that none of Remus's classmates except for the marauders and Snape (and maybe he got it only after the Prank) had known that he was a werewolf is generally stupid. So might as well add all of Remus' teachers to the pile of oblivious people.

Considering that Minerva doesn't mention Remus at all when talking to Fudge about the Marauders, although he's been working with her this year so it's unlikely that he just flew out of her memory, indicates to me that she didn't notice him much. There are also no hints during PoA that Minerva knows Remus is a werewolf. Of course, she had no reason to try to sabotage his appointment and tell everyone about it, unlike Snape, but nevertheless there is no indication of this. I can see Albus keeping this as private as possible, actually.

I think that Minerva was majorly unaware about all the shit Marauders did. Maybe not about everything, she clearly knew they were troublemakers, but maybe not the raging bullies they'd been. James ceased to "hex people in the hallways" on his seventh year for Lily, not because his teachers did something about it, and he kept bullying Snape. And I get it that Minerva probably often saw a likable side of James and had her own perspective, but honestly, I don't understand how she could be so fond of him if she actually knew a lot about the way he and Sirius were. Another indicator for me is that she tells Peter was incomparable in talent with James and Sirius, but to be honest, he is quite impressive? Maybe he was shit at theory (which we kinda see at SWM with him barely knowing the indicators of a werewolf) but he had enough magical talent to become an animagus as a kid, kill 12 people (later Cedric too), and overpower Jorkins. He wasn't so useless, after all. To be honest, I'm not sure that Minerva experienced significant stress or remorse regarding the school years of the Marauders, just because she didn't pay that much attention then.

i personally think the inclusion of nod-krai is very interesting lol

as a concept, the idea that there are some civilizations and villages not under complete jurisdiction of the archons is very cool - it's been done with past civilizations and ruins but we've never actually been to one. i feel like it'll maybe have a "traveler village" vibe at least from the teaser images we have so far.

reality wise - i think it's better that they actually are trying to make up for oversights that they missed early on in development - genshin was their second big project so of course they mess up, everyone does lol. i dont think its entirely fair to developers to bash them for making a "filler" region to fix mistakes years in the past when they had to divert their whole ideas, plans resources, and investments into creating an entirely unprecedented area to OWN UP to mistakes they made.

they basically said "yes we made mistakes, but we see that now, and have gradually shifted the story to allow ourselves to correct those mistakes and bring everything together."

and i immediately see the community basically (not everyone who criticizes, but its common among arguments against nod krai) go "okay so why didn't you do this sooner, you are horrible developers and never learn from mistakes" (which by the way, when Hoyo does make mistakes, they get bashed anyways)

this might just be the analyzing part in me, but i see a LOT of deflection and defense whenever someone says something that criticizes another person's opinions. i dont know if this is limited to just the genshin fandom?? or anyone in general?? but someone will say they didnt like natlan, and list valid reasons why. a good response would be counters and explanations for why you don't agree with that. that's okay!

and then there are... the others. the ones that whenever someone says something that contains anything negative about what they're agreeing with, its berserker (4-piece set probably) mode instantly. pointing out why everything is wrong and how the basic fundamentals of how an individual thinks. like bro??? are you not allowed to be wrong?? there are so many genshin players i see that are just... completely unable to admit their faults. like come on man.

its not even one side which is the great part. like take the natlan debate for example.

there are those who loath its very existence (any enjoyment of this region gets you ostracized forever - by the way?? im not entirely sure if ostracized is a word that most genshin players possess in their vocabulary /j im just joking guys)

and the glazers (criticizing one thing will have people go ham and say the most intense glaze you've ever seen in your life. i could glaze a whole bakers dozen of donuts 14 times over with the amount they glaze)

and so i dont appear biased - i personally ENJOYED natlan. does that mean that it was good? not really! i enjoy a lot of things that are flawed or not good. as long as i have FUN is whats important, and i definitely had fun playing through natlan

ARCHON QUEST RANT SECTION

while the quests were fun yes, does that mean the story was peak?? not at all lol. there were tons and tons of mistakes and forgotten lore points and mavuika (while badass and cool as shit) is not the best written character!! do i still love her? yes!! its entirely possible to enjoy something while acknowledging flaws in design and writing. also idk if i lack comprehension but i thought forging traveler's ancient name would kill xilonen. why is she not dead?? (nothing against her i love her lazy ass)

i also just think a lot of genshin players fail to interact with and enjoy media that isn't "perfect." take one of the most controversial anime out there - sword art online. i have indeed watched the entirety of it, and i know and take into account the negative parts of it. (kirito's overpoweredness, harassment scenes, etc.) was it perfect? no!!! did i overly enjoy myself watching it? yes!! same thing with Mobile Suit Gundam - The Witch from Mercury!! it was obviously cut and rushed and concepts weren't as fleshed out as they could've been. did i enjoy the show? hell yeah!!! the lesbians live on in my brain forever

point is - a lot of this community needs to be more accepting, whether to devs, new updates and features, or other players opinions. they also need to be more open to criticism, and understand that while someone disagrees with your opinion, it doesn't undermine how you feel about it. if you enjoyed natlan, that's great! from a factual standpoint, it isn't perfect. none of the regions are. (which is the reason for nod-krai if readers here haven't figured it out already), and if you didn't enjoy it, you don't need to disregard the things that entertained people who liked it.

TL;DR: people should be more accepting and less defensive, attacking devs for not trying to fix their mistakes earlier (which is when they made the mistake to begin with) is kind of mean/morally wrong, and genshin players should try to enjoy imperfect media rather than endlessly telling others how it could be better

if that TL;DR was too long uhhhh treat others how you want to be treated and learn some goddamn reading comprehension i swear i see some of the most illiterate players in this fandom

I had coffee my thoughts are all over the place it's not gonna make sense and I'm probably gonna change my mind about some of the things I said later but here's my ramble.

I'm so mad right now. There's so many things that piss me off with Peter B. I keep thinking about all the mess he keeps pulling throughout the first and the second movie. The fact that he betrayed Miles not once but twice BUT THREE TIMES (typing Miles up in ITSV, not telling him about the Spider Society or that he was an anomaly, CALLING HQ ON HIM BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SAVE HIS FATHER. Technically that's 4 but moving on.)

He refuses to acknowledge Miles as a fellow spider(which is probably why he didn't feel bad about finding Miles was an anomaly now he has a reason to not take Miles seriously.) And he keeps trying to insert himself into a mentor role when he's yet to do a whole lot of mentoring. What also throws me here is how he had the audacity to say the trauma builds character while being a mentor to help guide Miles into becoming Spiderman so Miles' could avoid the mistakes that Peter made.

I WILL NEVER BE OVER THAT CHAIR SCENE IN ITSV. How is it you as a grown man. A grown white man no less took a black teenage boy who you viewed as so much of a liability that you had to tie him up. And I know multiple people have talked about everything that's wrong with this scene but there's still something so haunting about watching him just nonchalantly be tied up kicking and screaming about how he wants to be let go that bothers me so much. And I find it hard to believe that this was just a scene we're supposed to just move on from. Did they do this on purpose? Was this supposed to showcase something about Peter's character that I'm not picking up on? Because I find it so hard to believe that the writers who made sure to explicitly show how Gwen's Peter is Christian because he later turns into a lizard wouldn't understand the implications of this scene.

I also don't think he's a strategic as he thinks he is. What do you think was going to happen when you forcefully tied this boy to a chair? You thought he was going to sit still? Also would you think the boy who's trying to save his father was going to do? Actually listen to your words? Sit back and be like, oh you're right I should just let my father die. (This is me going off my reasoning that he didn't plan out that one scene in ATSV. I think that he thought that because he's Miles' "mentor" he could get through to him in a way others can't. Which pretentious much?) His actions do more harm than good and it just works out for him somehow. (For instance Miles saving them in ITSV because he came late.)

These are my thoughts do with this what you will. All the stars decided to align today ig because I haven't been able to come up with coherent thoughts like this in a minute.

(I really need to rewatch itsv. So if there's anything here that I'm wrong about regarding itsv it's been like 5 years since I've seen it.)

I GET THISS SOOO HARD (I waited until I had coffee to answer this lol)

BUT YESSSSS Because like I can understanding giving Peter the benefit of the doubt, it makes plausible sense for a movie to have a certain amount of wiggle room plot wise.

But with writers who clearly understood punk enough to accurately show it in Hobie's arc, repeatedly put in the work to respect Cockney and Puerto Rican culture, who wrote every one of Hobie's lines with PERCISION - would just overlook the glaring hole in their story that is Peter.

Because we as a viewer are continually told we SHOULD look up to him and we SHOULD trust him - but in doing so they accidentally make him the exact opposite. Like.. It doesn't make sense to me.

The Focus on Jess & The Absence of Peter:

aka GODDAMN I hate Peter B. Parker [yet another rant about 'bad' writing, plotholes, and Peter not showing up for Miles or Gwen.

For example,

Jess is Gwen's mentor, and we see her mentor style is extremely different from Peter's and that's suppose to be a contrasting dynamic between them and the relationship between Miles and Peter. Okay, makes sense.

But by NOT having Peter be Gwen's mentor, the writers are implying that he didn't step up as an emotional mentor when all this given - HE SHOULD. Because he's the only adult that she knows, and she a freshly homeless teen who needs to be around people she trusts, rather than working at a society with an auditorium of adults.

But by trying to show off how much we should judge Jess, the writers have inadvertently given us a Peter who just..didn't take responsibility. That's what they're implying - that Hobie and Jess were the ones who came to get aid. And we're suppose to look the other way. I... can't do that, sir.

"Look at how mean Jess is, why not blame her-" Jess is doing her job. Where's the adult she actually knows and trusts. Can we get some dialogue about what he did for her? Or did he just do nothing?

Did they just forget to include that, or did Peter just forget to help?

For me, that's two points in the bucket. Not housing Gwen, and not being her mentor. He could've done one, the other or both.

But because he didn't, we're left asking "What WAS he doing in the Society?"

Missions, I assume. Cause he wasn't mentoring her, so he must have been off putting in legit work for Miguel, I assume.

If we're looking at the characters as full-rounded - which I would hope they are considering the depth of Gwen, Miles and Hobie, it's not a large jump to ask 'How involved was Peter in Gwen's time at the Society? Why is he not her mentor, or why is she not living with him?"

Gwen..should be staying with him. If you're an adult who knows a teen and they become homeless, and it is within your means - yeah, I do think it's a moral obligation to open your home to them, at least temporarily. If you care about them. But that aside, let's extend the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Gwen didn't want to see him.

But then the ratting Miles out thing. This, I can't get around-

Some may say that it was simply for plot development and that Lyla spoke suddenly as a mistake on her part.

And I gotta call bullshit.

Firstly, because this is the same movie where we're shown Hobie stealing parts prior to learning what the parts are for. The same film that literally animated a fight accurately to Bushwick down to the very street. Let's cut it some slack here.

And moreso - I could understand the justification that it was a mistake on Lyla's part.

If Lyla was human. She's not.

She's an AI, and a very sophisticated one at that. Lyla runs on protocol, because that's AI's do. She's made to do things the way that is mathematically most effective, based on her analysis and her code.

It's easy to see Lyla as just an avatar, and a comedic one at that - but Lyla is literally one of - if not the - smartest 'person' in the multiverse. She's the only one who can track Spot in real time. If Jess and Miguel need aid on a mission or with Spot, they call Lyla. And she's handled every Society mission prior to the chase.

Her speaking out of turn suddenly and giving Peter away is an understandable plot mistake, if she was subjected to human mistakes.

So far, Lyla isn't. It doesn't make sense, based on what Lyla is.

I think Lyla would know better than to give Peter away suddenly by detecting Miles' presence and still speaking out loud.

A lot ask 'What motive does Peter have for ratting Miles out?', but we also should also ask "What motive does Lyla have for ratting herself out?'

It's her goal to find Miles no matter what. She doesn't care, she kinda can't - she's an AI. She just has to find him and send Miles' location to Miguel. Her objective.

So her locating Peter without his knowledge and then giving herself away to him doesn't make sense - especially if Lyla knew Miles was that close, from a human standpoint and definitely from the standpoint of the most sophisticated AI in existence.

So I was under the assumption that - like you mentioned now, that before when he gets Miles alone, he may genuinely be trying to convince him still, but by the time they get into that space, I think that's around the time that it becomes a 'Okay, let's just get Miles back to HQ and talk about this' situation.

He genuinely ratted Miles out. In my eyes.

Because at this point, Miguel hasn't assaulted Miles. That comes later. So realistically speaking, his goal was probably to calm Miles down, and get him back to HQ however he could, and talk to him there.

Peter could've helped WAYYYY earlier.

People give Peter credit like 'Oh but he came over to Miles' side at the end-'

NO. YOU DO NOT GET A COOKIE.

Peter could've helped SO much earlier, and if anything, he was THE ONLY ONE in a position of helping.

Gwen can't do anything, like they physically restrain her when she tries to. And there's no point after they come to HQ that Gwen has the chance to turn around and help Peter.

Gwen doesn't get that chance. Peter DOES.

Had Peter helped Miles HERE, IMMEDIATELY, Miles would've gotten away without being assaulted by Peter.

If Peter had turned around and changed course in this moment, Miles would have been better off.

Fuck Peter B. Fuckkkkk hiiiimmmmm. NAWWWWWW

If Peter had let him go here, or helped him escape - Miles wouldn't have been taking hits up on that train. That's crazzzy.

But he wasn't trying to help Miles escape. If he wanted to, he would've. He could've just said "Matter of fact Miles, I think setting the WHOLE Society on you is a bizarre move and you should probably get out of here until Miguel can calm down and I can talk to him."

But he was like 'Nah, hold my baby. Matter of fact lemme tell you story in this pivotal moment when you're actively in danger. Here, look at me. What do you mean - I'm not stalling? I didn't rat him out on purpose.

Like either you did. And even if you didn't you didn't help him when you were literally the only person in the universe who could. In fact, he got away slower because of you. Lovely.

Peter is a grown man. He's not an idiot.

He knows Miles is in active danger. Why would an adult turn the conversation in that direction - about his baby - KNOWING Miles has no time.

As soon as Miles got his hands on MayDay, Peter is trying to change the conversation. Suddenly he's joking and laughing.

Even though Miles is freaking out. Why is Peter joking? He knows this isn't a joking situation. But here he is wasting Miles time, either accidentally or intentionally.

Because that'd be some good ass stalling.

There was nothing stopping Peter from helping him leave. But Peter was still on The Society's side, so he didn't. If he was on Miles' side, he would've helped him. He should've, but he was still for Miguel, because at this point Miguel hadn't assaulted Peter yet.

Congrats, Peter. Big L. Humbling Reality Spider-man everyone.

Like combine all this. AND THEN THE SCENE IN ITSV.

LITERALLY AND PHYSICALLY PETER IS ALWAYS HOLDING MILES BACK.

You cannot expect me to believe that the writers of a movie I can write 10k+ words about, just so happened to leave these two glaring plot holes for ONE character.

That I'm just suppose to ignore that Peter restrained Miles, a black boy, in ITSV. That he betrayed Miles for months, wasn't very active in Gwen's time at the Society, and he actively hinders Miles escape - if not actively ratting him out.

It baffles my mind.

It doesn't make sense, that these writers can write Hobie, Jessica, Miguel, Officer Stacy, Rio, and Jeff as fully rounded, well-thought characters. But for some reason, when it comes SPECIFICALLY to Peter B. - they just forget how to write. They just stop thinking about him the second they don't look at him.

IN BOTH MOVIES?

I don't buy it.

To have every other character be thoroughly thought through but have one of, if not these most iconic character full of plot holes...

I think the likely answer is they wrote him that way on purpose and he's just a bad person.

I'm sorry, and I'm laughing while writing this but like.

Either Peter is the ONE singular character who has a series of emotional plotholes - or he's just a bad mentor. It's one or the other. And it's open to interpretation.

But I wanna cut the writers some slack and say, No - they thought it through. And No, Lyla did not just randomly speak out of turn, he contacted her first off-screen before she replied to him.

And by waiting till the very end to come around, waiting until the person who looks up to you is deeply wounded to finally turn around - that's the same arc Officer Stacy goes through.

And we're not supposed to clap for him. It's lovely, but he doesn't get an award. And neither does Peter, not at all.

Maybe if had helped Miles escape in that moment. Maybe if he was Gwen's mentor or he housed her.

But as far as we know he spent those months of Gwen in the Society doing fuck all. We've seen no sign of his contribution anywhere.

And in a story about mentorship, that says something.

Once again, Fuck Peter B. All my Hobies hate Peter B. (not a typo)

He's worse than Jess.

And he's not worse than Miguel but I like Miguel more and it's not because of the ass that's just a bonus Miguel is cool (but also very wrong. but like personality wise we're cool).

Ummm I feel like I got off track here. Oh well!!

Damn he be doing Miles dirty. SMH
