It's actually really fascinating how we humans - with our brains that trains its entire life to become a shape-recognition-master - decided that the sounds (combinations) we make,

can be represented with certain shapes (combinations) and thus overbring messages to other humans that are not in range for our sounds.

And so, it's fascinating how we become really confused when our shape combinations suddenly don't make sense anymore, because our brain suddenly recognizes the individual shapes within the shape combo.

...

You ever stare at a word too long and now it doesn't look like a word anymore? Yeah, that's because you see the individual letters and not "the word".

At least that's my theory. A word theory!

A little thread I decided to make because of a problem my friend (AND VERY TALENTED ANIMATOR BTW) is dealing with and that is her work being mistaken by someone else (like that meme about people asking PokeTom of continuation of the comics he does not make, only dubs). I understand people can be a little "silly" when it comes to reading the credits after the main video or the description below, but PLEASE! It feels hurt when you're trying so hard doing something and then people think "the work is too good to be yours" or any other thought that makes them think of anyone but author of the animation. So the message is simple - *inhale* ANIMATION ON NEKO'S CHANNEL MADE BY NONE OTHER THAN NEKO HERSELF!(and people that helped her during it also COUNT!) you know it is hard to not feel for caterina a little in my worldstate. she loses sight of lucanis for a couple of months while her other grandson has her in jail for grandmother time-out, and by the time she sees him again he is in full undying devotion mode for the guy she sent to get him back. her grandson finally brought someone home, and it's a fairly low-level elven mortalitasi whose family background is 'idk we found this baby in a crypt and liked their vibes' who will not be giving her any biological grandchildren. not even one of the politically well-connected scheming mortalitasi, which could at least have been useful (nevarra is a bustling market for the crows! twenty contracts on the king alone and still going strong! still a payday baby let the good times roll!), but one of the dutybound earnest little freaks they keep down in the necropolis to wrangle skeletons and write esoteric papers and who frankly don't care that much about murder b/c death comes to us all in its own time anyway trust us on this one. lucanis looks at him like he hung the moon, the sun, every celestial object and glittering star in the sky, like he's the only real thing in the world. and in caterina vision she sees this weird little slip of a goth mage guy wearing too much kohl who cracks jokes at strange times and is so hard to read but also gives her the unmistakable flinty 'I'll try to keep this civil if you do the same. If.' eye contact over lucanis' shoulder sometimes, with the utter grave calm that only someone who's a speaker to the dead (and the dead are savage) and who has killed several gods and wouldn't back down from second deicide if necessary could bring to bear. she sucks and deserves this and more but she also does have a whole Situation on her hands here

(I love that rye's relationship to lucanis' family is basically 'I met some of the most insufferable people. but, they also met me'. he tangoed with the god of lies and betrayal so he could waltz his way through a dellamorte family dinner relatively unscathed)

(still haven’t finished andor season 1) god so in returning to the things that were happening in andor season 1 and the things happening in the actual 1970’s…. The fact that major organized crime groups went crazy during this part of the Cold War (and still are! In different ways) in ways distinctly tied to right wing politics and global paranoia is actually something Star Wars canonically has touched on without actually unpacking - that’s the actual canon plot with Jabba the Hutt!

But the space-mafia is like, heavily implied with davos skuldoon in season 1, given that he magically seems to know ways to launder money without being caught and also is someone mon fucking mothma is worried about getting involved with, and I’m interested in the brutal realities of the fact she not only married her daughter off to a man from the kind of society that in real life has committed femicide, but also…. How good is that money, mon? How reliable? What is he doing to the citizens of chandrila - or other planets- to make it? What will he expect from you and the rebellion in order to channel that money? What will be the fucking cost?

The rebels getting forced into supporting the career and interests of a space-mafioso to keep the new stream of money flowing is brutal in a way the show should have dug into if they wanted to justify mon marrying leida off - it must have been an income stream they could receive in no other way - at the same time it makes everyone complicit if not an active collaborator in a type of organization that is very much imperial on the smaller scale to the people who live under it - that forces them to pay money to stay alive and keep their businesses, that exerts a constant threat of violence, that imprisons through trafficking. If everyone has their own rebellion, everyone also has their own empire. What’s the cost of expanding a local empire to defeat the empire hurting everyone?
