What's the thing that stands out to you the most about albus and by extension his relationship with scorpius?
I'm gonna give 2 answers for this but they technically intermingle: One thing that stands out to me about Albus as a character, and one thing that stands out to me about his relationship with Scorpius.
Albus is a character who wears his emotions on his sleeve, even if he doesn't want to. This means we know alot about the motives behind his actions that run deeper than just "I want to save Cedric Diggory because my dad sucks." He's surly, self isolating, grumpy, and often seems rather anxious.
I think the thing that stands out the most to me is actually his relationships with others.
Albus has one friend, Scorpius. You can clearly see that Albus felt comfortable the moment he talked to him on the train, all awkward smiles and giggles. Then, when his cousin (who he grew up with), deemed he wasn't a good fit to be a friend and told Albus they were leaving, he outright denied her.
Cut to a while later, and Albus becomes a shut in. Its never explicitly shown but I take that when McGonagall called Albus "Isolated and surly" she was referencing to him refusing to make other friends. I don't doubt there were people who did try and befriend Albus despite him having a reputation, I just think Albus refused to give them the time of day. He had been laughed at and ridiculed by other students tons of times before, he learned to rely on gut feelings. If Albus doesn't immediately feel like he can trust you, he won't trust you, and it'll take a hell of a long time to change that due to his relentless stubborn. Plus his general opinion of the student body is already more terrible because he knows how everyone in Hogwarts feels about his bestfriend, who he deems more important than anyone else.
Cut yet again! Rose attempts to talk to Albus on the train to Hogwarts as they enter fourth year. Rose seems like she wants to make amends, trying to get Albus to talk to her and apologise, but Albus is still not having it. He sees through her, he knows his cousin. She'd never apologise herself, even if she knows she's wrong. Albus doesn't want to be pitied, and he also knows how rude Rose can be to Scorpius. So once again she's shut down.
Then we move on to him meeting Delphi, and there's something different. He seems slightly confused at first, but he relaxes as she talks. Albus sees this dorky, quirky lady, who talks about how people would make fun of her as a kid, and he automatically trusts her. It was definetly an odd feeling to have, because the only other person he'd felt that from was Scorpius, but Albus has an issue where he sets people he cares about on a pedestal and finds it almost impossible to imagine them doing any wrong, or expects them to always act a specific way. Delphi was in Albus' circle now, and he wanst planning to lose that.
But... then we notice something. Albus becomes slightly distant towards Scorpius whenever Delphi is around. He thinks he really likes her, and he knows she's practically a stranger but he swears there's this magnetic pull that just makes him want to be around her all the time. Scorpius is sort of jealous, but he's happy Albus has made a friend.
It's been pointed out before that majority of Delphis personality was took from Scorpius because she knew that would make Albus like her more. And it worked. She knows Albus find it difficult connecting with people he cant relate to, so she talked about her issues with expectations and not asking to be born into the family you were. (OK this is getting off topic let's go back on track).
In summary, how Albus finds it so incredibly difficult to connect with people then, when does, holds them so close to his heart, is what stands out most to me. Its crucial! Albus is not a person who trusts easily, but he takes great pride in those he can call his friend, even if it's few (cough ONE cough).
On that note... Answer 2. What stands out to me most about Scorpius and Albus's relationship? (Let's go the romantic route)
For me, its the way they are so different from every other ship. I don't think you can compare them to anything, because it won't be the same.
I see alot of people say its a parallel to Wolfstar but... it isn't. Alteast not how they'd be in canon. Because the Dynamics are completely different, and so are the characters personalities.
I think how unique their relationship is is what makes it so special. They were both misunderstood kids who realistically should've despised eachother just like their parents, but they didn't. They took comfort in eachothers presence and didn't care that everyone bullied them, because atleast they were together. Albus would end the world for Scorpius, and Scorpius would save the world for Albus. And it isn't even a Gryffindor/Slytherin relationship either! Which the fandom seems to like alot!
They are two bestfriends, from the same house, who would rather be with eachother than anyone else in the world. The closest thing to soulmates you're gonna get.
Anywhoooo that's my answerrr thank you for the ask anon I was in my feels beforehand and then I got to rant it all out on my favs
#harry potter#hp#cursed child#hp next gen#harry potter next generation#albus severus potter#albus potter#scorpius malfoy#scorbus#AHHHHHH sorry#AhhhhHHHHHHHH pardon me#me when i see my favourite grumpy awkward boy#Oh my god Albus is going through puberty in Cursed Child why is that so funny to me

Hi hi!
I thought of something else!
I'm wondering if Nickel will join the Lost Light before Remedy goes back to Caminus? The revelation that Remedy is on the Lost Light after the DJD would be something!
Also i think, since they have experience working together, they could be doctor buddies and take over the night shift with Ratchet and First Aid doing the day shift. It just seems like it could be a great friendship for Remedy to have Nickel there, and she'd know what its like being on the DJD ship (something Ratchet/First Aid can't relate to (as far as I know) since they never worked there). I get big sister vibes from her, personally. Is this how their dynamic is in the AU?
I'm totally eating up your questions because they're very fun to think about and answer!!
Okay first- I want to respond to the question I saw you ask in your reblog! (I also hope you share your ocs one day I would love to see them) I definitely have a lot planned for how the relationship and interactions would unwind between Remedy and First Aid. At first, it would be really tense because they both respectfully have a lot of trauma that they need to work through. For First Aid, that obviously has to do with the fact that his boss made a deal with the DJD and killed Ambulon, and for Remedy, it's dealing with the fact that his carrier actually did all those things, and that First Aid, a bot who he idolized, killed Pharma.
And Remedy really does look up to Aid. Although he never got to meet or interact with Aid while at Delphi, he would watch the three all day through the security cameras as his only form of entertainment while Pharma was on shift. He would see what Aid was up to, watch the way he triages and diagnoses patients and the work he was doing to help Fortress Maximus. Remedy would have created this sort of mental interpretation of who Aid is, and how they would eventually interact, and having to reconcile that imagination with reality is more difficult than anticipated.
First Aid would be reasonably unsure of how to feel about Remedy, because, on one hand, he looks very similar to Pharma, is a forged doctor, and is Pharma's sparkling, but on the other, he's an innocent party who bears no responsibility for what his carrier did. Aid would definitely feel some level of guilt for how he approached Remedy, and for how he would have shared such a negative revelation with Remedy. That said, they wouldn't get to make amends for some time, because Remedy would be quick to flee after a certain revelation.
Then there is also Ratchet, who, Remedy does recognize from a single photo that Pharma would have had of him and his old friend on a shelf in his office. As well, Remedy, on a basic level, is aware of who Ratchet is because he's the CMO of the Autobots and a famous doctor in his own right. However, any respect Remedy holds towards Ratchet would be clouded by the discovery of his carriers hands on Ratchet's body.
Okay so now Nickel!! Yes, you are totally spot on with the relationship dynamic I imagined for them. I really came to adore Nickel's character the second time I read through the comics, and wanted to get to use her for Remedy's story.
Remedy will actually have a second stint on the Peaceful Tyranny, which will happen after his first meeting with Ratchet and Aid. Remedy would become too fearful to return to Caminus due to the positive relationship between the Camiens and the Autobots, and as such, he would send his coordinates to Nickel, who was the only DJD member he exchanged comm links with before he disappeared.
He'll end up becoming really close with Nickel during his time with the DJD, and will hold Nickel in high regard. Nickel would similarly enjoy all of her time spent with Remedy, and would sort of become his anchor.
When Remedy does eventually end up back on the Lost Light, Nickel won't initially be with him, and this is because I really love her dynamic with the scavengers, so I've incorporated those relationships into my au. That said, his being there would be one of the catalysts to her eventually joining the Lost Light, and bringing the other scavengers with her.
And I think your idea of them being night-shift doctor buddies on the LL is super cute, and definitely something that could happen. Her eventually joining the LL would greatly help Remedy further his relationships with Aid and Ratchet, and really help the healing, forgiving, and moving on process.

Musings of a 1950s Housewife
In a traditional sense, I suppose we are happy.
Him in me and i in Him
Yet, tradition is upheld on the bodies of the dead, and we are still breathing.
“Are you mad at me?”
A simple question I ask while we lay in bed.
“Yes! My wife is speaking in riddles like an oracle of Delphi.”
He says exasperated. Exhausted.
“More like Cassandra, actually but, nevermind.”
I look at the gardens I tend, barefoot in the grass, and I wonder if the shade is the same as Arsenic green?
Oranges, Patchouli, and Vetiver.
Cherry, woody, amber like burnt sunlight.
I've forgotten how intoxicating his scent is.
And I'm learning the lesson again with how much I crave him.
But his office door stays closed
his ambitions take priority.
Dinner with his friends down at the sushi place.
The men lament how hard it is to find a wife.
Before one goes on a tangent about how silly it is women want marriage.
“If you are that insecure and need a paper to prove my love to you, you're not the woman for me.”
I look at my husband.
The others agree.
My husband simply places his hand on my knee.
I bite my tongue.
In black in white across my phone screen.
New York Times talks about a war.
It's far from home but somehow we are involved.
I think we are always, this country leaves its bloodied hands everywhere.
The blood is never ours.
The doves are posturing for peace but they move outta the way for the birds of prey circling above.
I fear for any potential sons I might have.
The pillow is cold and his side of the bed is neat.
I hear him in his office talking on the phone.
His voice is composed, stoic.
I can see the way his face is in my head.
No emotion etched but the smallest wrinkle between his caterpillar-like eyebrows.
His tell.
A sigh and I know he's quietly pouring a whiskey shot now.
I roll over in bed and bury my face in his pillow.
I wonder if he knows when I lie to him as well?
My therapist told me I needed to go out more.
I told her I do.
She said, interact with others.
I do.
She said, speak to others.
I do.
She paused, looked at me.
How do we raise your self confidence?
I wasn't aware it was an issue.
What does she see that
I don't?
Yellow and red mixed together to bloom on soft petals.
The streaks of orange reminds me of sunset
Which in return reminds me of the crown of gold that encircles his head.
Soft locks, I used to run my fingers through in quiet moments of bliss.
The door to the front opens and he comes out
His hair coiffed and parted, pomade that smells like oranges, cherry and vetiver
His blue eyes glance at me watering my flowers
And he walks to his car.
A lack of warmth, heat, that usually pours and clings to my curves.
Was gone.
He didn't pull out.
Hands holding mine tightly as if he'd forgotten how to let go
Breathing heavily against my neck, careful to not leave a mark.
Yet he left one in my womb.
We didn't talk about it as he climbed off and got dressed.
A woman called and asked for him by his first name.
The pit that gnawed in me, settling in my growing belly; almost killed me.
His office door was closed.
I hesitated.
Before hanging up on her.
his secretary he says when I broach subject.
Maybe I should believe him.
She has his eyes.
Blue, curious like how I remember them being
Big and doe like
When she smiles it's like how he used to.
Her giggles are mine.
I named her but my husband chose another
We settled on his mother's name, Delilah.
Dahlia, is what I call her in my heart.
His hand warms my cheek, fingers wiping away the tears that sting my eyes.
I asked him one too many questions.
Now in our bedroom, he makes amends.
Promising me there's no infidelity
But he smells of rue, tulips, and violets.
Dahlia, I mean Delilah, crawled for the first time
The maids called me over.
And Delilah teetered and fell.
Her chubby cheeks covered in tears while she motioned for me to pick her up.
Like Pavlov’s bell
Almost instinctual
I held her, and kissed away the tears in her eyes like her father's.
There's shadows that linger on my walls
And heaviness in my heart.
I fought it and kept it at bay but my doctors say it's hysteria.
“Housewife Syndrome”
My husband gives me pills now.
I sleep the day away.
Dahlia is crying in her crib a room down the hall.
But I can't bring myself to move.
I hear the maids scurry to assist her and for a moment something akin to regret hits me.
“Speak clearly. Directly.”
I am not?
My voice wavers and I look at the floor.
The ocean waves lick my feet.
Golden sands and blue water.
I'm free for a moment.
“Answer me.”
Dazed, I blink and it all fades to shades of fluorescent light bulbs and greens.
Delilah is here, to help me with Daisy.
Dahlia. I mean.
There's daisies by my bedside, with buttercups and pink roses.
My husband's mother frets over the baby.
I lay here in bed, halfway between life and death.
Gold shimmers through the curtains and I vaguely make out the ring in my hand, resting on the pillow.
His voice is husky. Breath hot against my neck while my fingers claw at the oak wood of his desk.
The tie he wears is balled up, between my lips.
The only sounds are his and our bodies.
There's a waxing and waning like the fullness of the moon.
I quiver and mewl, my walls hold him like a lover.
He spills inside of me.
Gasping my name between sweet nothings.
Nose buried in my hair and for a moment,
I realize I traded my sanity for his hands.

The Locker Room
Delphi finds herself waiting for Beel after fangol practice
Pairing: Beelzebub x Delphi
Word count: 2.6k
Warnings: afab!OC, biting, blood (accidental), cunnilingus, vaginal penetration, (lemme know if there's anything else?)
Notes: Listen. Is it 9AM on a Saturday? Yes. Are we horny on main at 9AM on a Saturday? Also yes.
Delphi had already been getting closer with Beelzebub, thanks to having to share a room with him. They shared midnight snacks, stayed up late watching movies and chatting, and a couple of times he even told her about the Celestial Realm.
She starts going to his fangol practices after they make their pact. At first, it’s just fun to learn the sport and figure out what it is that Beel spends most of his time doing when he isn’t at home or out eating. But slowly, Delphi begins to realize that she’s not just watching the game. She’s watching Beel. She’s watching the way his muscles flex under his skin, how light he is on his feet despite being one of the biggest players on the field, watching how the stadium lights catch his hair and make it glow like embers in the night.
She’s flushed by the time she reaches the locker room. Blaming it on the summer heat and the harsh lights on the field, she sticks to the cool of the shadows near the door as Beel’s teammates file out. Most of them barely acknowledge her. Some nod to her, and still others smile and wave as they pass, recognizing her from previous practices. The final player out the door she recognizes as Seir, a fairly good-natured and even-tempered demon who’d never been anything but kind to her.
He gives her a smile as the door closes behind him. “Beelzebub is in the shower. He waited for the rest of us to leave before he went in, so he may be in there a while.”
“Oh,” Delphi sighs, hefting her bag onto her shoulder. “I guess I’ll just head home, then. Thanks, Seir.”
“Oh, you can go in,” the demon amends, a mischievous glint in his sea-green eyes. “Just make sure you’re prepared for the consequences.”
With that cryptic warning, he leaves with a wave, leaving Delphi standing bewildered at the door to the locker room. She isn’t stupid. She has an inkling of what he meant. But since when is Seir her wingman?
She waits until his vibrant red ponytail swishes out of sight and then cracks open the locker room door. As she slides inside, locking the door behind her, she’s met with a wall of steam. It makes it difficult for her to take in a breath, but Delphi continues on, dropping her bag and blazer in Beel’s locker with his as she heads toward the back. One of the showers is still running, the lights still on, and she can hear his music playing over the spray of the water.
As Delphi makes her way to the showers, she realizes she hasn’t really seen this part of the locker room before. Two tiled half-walls run the length of the room, divided into stalls with their own showerheads and curtains. Only the one at the very end is occupied, the steam she’d been wading through emanating from the stall’s entrance. She can see Beel under the spray, the vast expanse of his freckled back visible over the wall. He’s leaning against the wall, holding himself with one hand, his head hanging under the water.
Maybe she’s entranced by the way the water runs down his back in streams, or maybe she’s emboldened by the fact that he doesn’t seem to notice her presence. Maybe she’s just pent up from being alone for almost a year. Whatever the case may be, Delphi finds herself carefully unbuttoning her uniform top and hanging it on a towel hook she passes on her right. She slips off her shoes and unzips her skirt, leaving them both where her skirt falls on the subway tile floor.
Her bra goes next, being draped inelegantly over the wall to her left, then her tights, which she rolls down and steps out of like her shoes. Finally, standing at the entrance to the shower stall in nothing but a pair of white panties, she takes a deep breath and steps in.
“Beel?” she asks, hands coming up to tentatively rest on his hips.
He whips around, eyes wide and teeth bared. But Beel realizes quickly just who had joined him. Looking down at Delphi’s small frame, his jaw goes slack and his pupils blow wide. She’s standing before him in nothing but her panties, a trail of her clothes leading to the shower. Her big violet eyes stare up into his with an expression he recognizes as hunger, her breath coming in shallow pants as she shakes like a leaf.
“Are you sure about this?” he asks roughly, cupping her cheek with one large hand.
She places a hand over his, smiling and replies, “Yes, I’m sure. I’m guessing it hasn’t exactly been easy with me moving into your room.”
His deep chuckle sends a shiver down her spine and makes goosebumps bloom over her skin. He brings his other hand up to her cheek, leaning down to press his lips to hers in a soft kiss. Delphi smiles into it, her pulse quickening as he buries his fingers in her hair. He grips her curls tightly, pulling her head back and nipping at her throat.
Delphi moans as his teeth graze her skin, more goosebumps pebbling her flesh. Beel takes it as encouragement, wrapping one arm around her waist and pulling her flush against him while he continues to kiss and bite at her neck and shoulder.
“Beel,” she gasps as his hard length presses against her stomach. He only grunts in response. Delphi grips his shoulders desperately, repeating louder, “Beel!”
“Hm?”
“Beel, I want you inside me. Now.”
His eyes go wide as he pulls back. He searches her face for any sign of doubt, any hesitation or fear to tell him to stop. He finds none.
“I may not be able to stop once I start,” Beel warns, brows furrowed.
“I have the pact if I really need to stop,” Delphi reminds him, leaning back in his grasp to ghost her fingers over his mark on her belly.
He gives her a pleading look. “I don't want to hurt you.”
Delphi smiles up at him, cupping his freckled cheek in her hand. “You won’t hurt me, Beel. Just go slow.”
He nods slowly and turns to press a lingering kiss into the palm of her hand. Warmth blossoms in Delphi’s chest at the tender gesture, spreading further as he dips down once again to take her lips with his. She isn’t sure if she’s shaking or if he is as he hooks one arm under her thighs and lifts her up, turning off the water with the other before carrying her into the main locker room. Still one-handed, he takes a towel from his locker and spreads it on the bench, then gently lays Delphi down on it.
His eyes are dark as he crouches over her, one large hand on her hip, his thumb brushing the edge of his mark on her stomach. She isn’t sure if it’s the intensity of his gaze or the heat his touch, but it makes her shiver. His hands are rough but soft against her skin as he hooks his thumbs in the waistband of her panties. She bites her lip as he slowly pulls them down, trailing kisses down her stomach as he goes. He pauses at the coarse hair of her mound, smiling and brushing his nose through the curls before continuing on.
A low growl rumbles from his chest as he kisses down her inner thigh and calf, until he reaches her ankle and the white material he was removing from her falls to the floor. Beel shifts to her other leg, dropping sweet kisses and nibbling along the sensitive trail up the inside of her leg. As he reaches the junction between her legs, he lifts them both to rest on his shoulders, looking down at her once again with a question in his dark eyes.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asks, rubbing a thumb over her knee. “We can stop now if you aren’t totally sure.”
Delphi smiles, reaching up to pull him to her by the back of his neck. It nearly knocks the wind out of her, the stretch in the backs of her legs as he brings them with him, but she still brings him down to rest his forehead on hers.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life,” she breathes. “Let me feel you.”
He lets out a strangled groan and captures her lips once more, this time in a scorching kiss that has her gripping his wet hair and rolling her hips. He reaches between them to drag his thick tip through her soaked folds, swallowing down her moans as he presses slowly, carefully into her heat.
Her breath comes in shallow pants as he sinks into her, little by little, filling her more than she thought possible. Against his lips, she moans, “F-fuck, Beel…so good…”
Beel watches, fascinated, as Delphi arches beneath him, jaw slack and flushed from her chest to the tips of her ears. She quivers, tiny whimpers escaping her throat as he finally bottoms out, his hips resting against hers while she adjusts. He thumbs a tear from her lashes, frowning.
“Are you okay?” he asks, strained.
She nods, more tears falling down her pretty cheeks. Delphi pants, “I’m f-fantastic. Gimme another minute before you move, okay?”
Beel hums his acknowledgement as he wipes her tears, dropping his head back down to place a tender kiss on her soft lips. He loves her lips, so warm and responsive against his. Even as he dips his tongue between them, they part for him willingly, her own muscle rising to meet him as he slides over her teeth and the bead of her tongue piercing.
He feels her relax around him, her breathing even out, and he slowly begins to move. It’s just small movements at first, little rolls of his hips into hers that seem to knock the air out of her, then longer, deeper strokes that make his head spin. Beel tries to be good. He tries to move slowly and let the little human beneath him adjust to his size. He tries so hard. But her warm walls squeeze him so tightly, and every thrust feels like heaven, and it takes everything in him to hold back enough to keep from breaking her.
Delphi grips the bench above her head, crying out with each slam of his hips into hers. She thinks she understands now what Seir meant. The Avatar of Gluttony can’t be stopped once he starts, not until he’s satisfied. She basks in his glow as he bites and kisses her neck and shoulders, his rough hands smoothing over her waist and hips. Everywhere he touches burns like the sun, sending ribbons of warmth to the inferno in her core until she feels as though she might explode.
“F-fuck,” she stammers. “Beel, I’m so close--!”
He can feel her walls fluttering around him, feel her tightening as he continues. The feeling of her squeezing him so completely is almost too much for Beel to bear, but he manages.
“Show me,” he grunts into her ear, nipping lightly at the lobe.
“Oh, fuck!” Delphi cries. With one more deep thrust, she comes undone, fire coursing through her veins. Stars burst across her vision and her head spins, white hot pleasure licking at the edges of her mind.
Beel watches her eyes roll back and knuckles go white with her grip on the bench above her head. The cries that fly from her lips are the most beautiful sound he's ever heard, echoing through the empty locker room like a symphony.
He continues on through her orgasm, hitting her deepest sweet spots on every thrust until he feels her clamp down around him again. Her cries increase in pitch and volume as he fucks her through it, feeling his own release approaching fast.
“’M close,” he groans, breath coming in as heavily as if he’d been doing sprints. “I’m so close…where d’you-?”
“Inside,” Delphi breathes before he can finish his question.
With a growl, Beel bites down on her shoulder and releases deep within her. He tries to be careful not to bite too hard, but she feels so good that he isn't quite careful enough. He's dimly aware of the taste of metal on his tongue and warm liquid sliding from the corners of his mouth, but her cries of ecstasy drown out all else.
As they both come back to themselves, panting and breathless, Beel slowly withdraws from her, being as careful as he was before. She lets out a soft whine at the absence when he’s fully out, gasping as she feels his finger wiping away their combined fluids from her sticky entrance. She watches with fascination as he pops the finger in his mouth, eyes rolling back and a groan forming deep in his chest.
Like a man possessed, Beel holds her by her thighs and pulls her down to the end of the bench, her legs still draped over his shoulders. He kneels on the concrete floor and spreads her open with both thumbs, watching as more milky fluid dribbles from her. Without warning, he dives in, licking a stripe from her entrance to her clit and groaning.
Delphi yelps at the sudden contact, trying to squeeze her legs together, but Beel is too strong. He holds her open with ease, continuing his onslaught as she writhes. Occasionally he dips his tongue inside her, curling it just right to hit that sweet spot that makes her see stars and her head go fuzzy.
Feeling her walls fluttering around his tongue, Beel reaches up with one thumb to rub circles around her clit, grinning to himself at her keening cries. It doesn’t take long before she’s gripping his hair tightly and gushing onto his tongue, her juices like nectar as he laps them all up.
Delphi looks down through her haze to see magenta and violet staring back up at her from between her legs. It’s almost enough to send her reeling a fourth time, but she feels well and truly spent. Hand still gripping his hair, she tugs gently, smiling when he gets the hint and finally drops her legs from his shoulders. He pulls her to sitting and wraps his strong arms around her waist, smiling up at her.
“That was incredible,” Delphi murmurs, gripping his freckled cheeks and dipping down to kiss him. She can taste herself on his lips and tongue as they slide against hers, and honestly, she could get used to this.
---
It’s well past dinner by the time they make it home, Delphi asleep on Beel’s back, his jacket draped over her. He can feel all of his brothers’ eyes on him as he carries her silently up to the room that they currently share. Mammon practically seethes from his place on the couch, but Beel just puts a finger to his lips and points to her, grinning as his brother’s face goes redder than he’s seen it in centuries.
Beel lays her down softly in his bed, brushing the hem of her shirt up just a little bit to look at his mark on her navel before covering her with the blankets. He retreats to the door and turns off the light, looking back at her sleeping face one last time before stepping out. He’ll go down and get them some snacks for when she wakes up…

Lie to Me (Apollo x Percy)
Summary: Percy's got a lot going on: a new apartment, a new job, a new editor for her manuscript, a new ... boyfriend? Can't forget the new army Hazel's been cooking up in New Rome. Oh, and her Dad wants her to get married, preferably to someone immortal, because he just loves her that much.
Apollo ... isn't really into marriage, or that much into Percy, or at all into doing Poseidon's bidding. But he is into revenge. And safety. And maybe into overthrowing Zeus. He's just grateful he's a good liar.
How else is he meant to pretend he loves Percy for the rest of his life?

The Last of a Dying Breed (Apollo x Percy)
Summary: “You do not go on quests, Percy,” Apollo told her flatly. “You assign them. You're the one they come to when they need to embark on a perilous journey.”
“I send them to their deaths, you mean,” Percy snapped.
“If that's what lies in their fate,” was the callous answer.
Percy Jackson grows up during World War II, takes up the mantle of the Oracle of Delphi in a desperate bid to save her fellow demigods – and then watches all her siblings die one by one due to a prophecy she made.
Bianca di Angelo just wants to know why she cannot remember anything except the face of the Oracle sleeping in the attic of the Big House. And why Annabeth insists that Bianca is the hero they need to find Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt.

Summary: Percy never thought he'd say this, but he felt a smidgeon of sympathy for a Titan. If hindsight was 20-20, then there was no way that Epimetheus, with his shoddy vision, ever walked anywhere without crashing into innumerable walls.
For Percy, after all, the clues had been as obvious as a trail of breadcrumbs.
But it still took Daedalus showing Percy, not Icarus, the marvellous mechanical wings the inventor had devised to escape the Labyrinth, for the demigod to notice the arrow speeding straight for his face.
Being stuck here, not in a dream, but in someone else's body, was the wall that Percy had crashed into and brought down on himself.
Percy had landed in the past – and he had no one but himself to blame.

Concealed in the Coriolis (Apollo x Percy)

Blurb: “I just want to have a baby with you,” Coronis screamed at the sky. “Is that so much to ask for?”
Apollon winced audibly behind her. Bedding a beautiful woman was never a hardship. It was just ...
“We need to have Asclepius,” Coronis said, eyes bright with the fervour of a zealot. “A temple to him in every town, where anyone who needs healing can receive it. A system of medicine that will last for millennia. The skill to heal even death!”
And then she pointed a hand up at the blazing Sun overhead. “And a caesarean! You need to cut Asclepius out in the first such surgery.” “After I’m dead,” she amended after a moment before brightening. “Though I’ll live again in the wonderful world he’ll build, so that’s fine.”
Yes, Apollon would have bedded Princess Coronis in a heartbeat. If only she hadn’t opened her mouth!
Or, Percy Jackson never expected to end up in the body of a princess from ancient Greece. Especially not this princess. But as a child born in a hospital from a caesarean, he knows his duty. Lie on his back and think of his mom. No, not that way.
If only Apollo would get with the plan!
Part 2, Part 3, Part 6, Part 7, Part 14, Part 17
Dionysus Presents: The Gods of Olympus
Summary: Where Apollo picks on Dionysus because how come someone other than him is the one allowed to live full-time at his new Delphi? And Dionysus decides to ruin Apollo's life by making a tell-all, ridiculous show about the Gods.
Starring: Apollo the Instrument Shop owner, Zeus the Pilot, Hades the Crystal Connoisseur, Poseidon as That One Surfer Dude Who Thinks He Can Fish, Ariadne the Apple of the Director's Eye (or should it be grape?), and other sundry gods Dionysus is sure will get on his wrong side someday.

The Sand on your Shores (Apollo x Percy)
Read on Ao3
Summary: “Percy Jackson?" Apollon queried haughtily.
The sole human of the trio looked over insouciantly. “Yeah?”
Apollon pursed his lips, inordinately irritated at being ignored by the other two. No creature with the scales of the sea or with the glow of divinity should ever ignore him, even if he was currently mortal.
“You have been granted the great privilege of my services,” Apollon gritted out.
“Which one?” the monstrous son of Poseidon inquired.
Apollon glared in silent inquiry.
“Which Percy Jackson are you meant to serve?” the monster clarified.
Apollon blinked, abruptly shaken out of his terrified fury. “There's more than one?”
“You see,” the demigod explained with the air of one who knew he was about to ruin a person's day, “We're all Percy Jackson. Every single one of us.”
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
Drowning on Dry Land (Apollo x Percy)
Read on AO3
Summary: For a fleeting second, Apollo imagined that he was in one of his gilded marble temples. This was just another petitioner come crawling on their knees for a miracle from the great Apollo. Then the second passed. The walls were the impersonal, antiseptic white of the Apollo Teaching Hospital, not the carved marble of a Roman temple. At his side wasn’t a stone altar but a creaky metal examination table on the verge of collapse. And he wasn’t the Olympian god Apollo but the grandson of Koios, the Titan Lord of the North, eking out his survival by virtue of his mother’s tears and his grandfathers’ forbearance. “Ms Percy Jackson.” Apollo addressed the eighteen-year-old. “As often as you visit, I’m starting to think you just want to see me.” Kronos won the war before the Olympians even knew there was one. Stripped of most of his domains and stuck performing menial tasks for the Titans' entertainment, Apollo is desperate for any change. And then he finds a demigod he just knows will be important.

Fluttering Fireflies (Apollo x Percy)

Summary: Percy stared at Apollo, flummoxed. “I told you that accepting anything from you because you have a crush on me would be taking advantage of you. So you decided you wanted to marry me instead?”
“Yes,” Apollo stated.
Percy ran a hand through his hair, before he turned a beseeching look at his father. But Poseidon just offered him a proud smile.
And why not? The god had just arranged the marriage of his youngest child with an Olympian who had fallen for Percy like a rock off the peak of Mount Everest.
Percy threw up his hands in the air. “I … am done. Just done.” Done wondering just when he’d entered an alternate dimension where Poseidon took pleasure in betrothing Percy.

Between the Heavens and the Embers

Summary: Percy was an eagle. Without wings or claws, Percy had somehow become an eagle. "Focus." “I,” she began haltingly. “I was …” trying to avoid sleep, “trying to detect any pursuers. When my hearing sharpened. And I could suddenly overhear … birds.” The rustle of feathers, the flutter of leaves, the whistle of the wind through the slats, and the screeching of the train wheels on the rails. The metronome beating a steady, artificial rhythm where Apollo’s heart should have been. “I can hear things,” she finished pathetically. “In moments of terrible stress,” Apollo glanced around their banal surroundings and amended, “or moments of great paranoia, demigods are liable to direct their untapped potential into cultivating their senses for a power-up. You’re transitioning – from human to something more … demigodly. You’re literally growing more sensory receptors. But your brain–” Apollo shrugged as if the state of her pitifully mortal brain matter was a foregone conclusion. “Brains are delicate. Elastic, but given to self-preservation. It’ll be a long time if ever until you adapt to your senses.”
Long enough that she might die because of those senses.
Part 1
Ocean of Storms (Apollo x Percy)
Apollo is many things - the premier mage of light on Earth, the director of the Association of Medicine, the son of the ruler of most of the known Universe. He's also, more recently
The killer of his great Uncle, one of the titans of the Titans Corporation.
Exiled from Earth
Stuck on Pan, a watery exoplanet in the Andromeda Galaxy
Falling in love with a smuggler, provider of home-made health supplements, and quite possibly someone who sparks storms across the planet when she's upset
About to get into a fight with the Titans so he can get his exile rescinded and return to Earth.
It's been a busy couple of weeks.
Part 1, 2
My world's gone upside down
A Cornucopia of Surprises (Apollo x Percy)
Summary: A god for a boyfriend brings along a lot of perks: fast transportation, a warm body to leech heat off, and the certainty that this was one guy who was never going to die on her. Sure, Apollo had his issues - chief among them an incomprehensible distaste for Taylor Swift.
But that was no reason to turn Percy into a horror from the deep seas just because she sang a few too many lyrics! (And no, mermaids weren't cute. They couldn't breathe above water, after all.)
Part 1, Part 2
Stuck in your Head (Apollo x Percy, Percy x Annabeth)
Posted on AO3
Summary: Chaos tries to send Persia Jackson into the past because she'd like a few more followers, thank you. The Fates drag her into Perseus's Jackson's world to regurgitate her life story because they'd rather not get wiped from existence, thank you. And Percy? Well, Percy doesn't think reading about the life and times of his alternate is going to prove very useful when the gods have never learnt of a loss they can't change.
Rachel ... thinks the boy in her dreams is creepy. Just not creepier than the guy promising to return her to her home if she only does him a teeny-tiny favour and helps him kill Daedalus before Kronos can possess an automaton.
The gods have also never heard of patience or waiting until they have the whole story, after all.

House of Memories

Tyche really might be into him, Apollo realised as he looked at the arm-length splinter buried into the ground just a couple inches from his foot.
Then he dismissed the notion.
More like, Eris had the hots for him, really, but he was just too good to fall for her machinations.
‘More like, you've already been through this day before,’ an alarmingly familiar voice snapped inside Apollo's mind. ‘This day, this decade, and even this century!’
‘Or more like,’ Apollo’s voice continued, undeterred, ‘I have gone through this century before.’
Yes, his manifestation had clearly undergone some terrible trauma before Apollo had summoned it back if it was labouring under the impression it had time-travelled.

*twirls my hair* soooo you wanna know about mmvstr. let us begin!
basically MMvsTR (Metaphor Mafia VS. The Revolution) is a little rp a few of us from the chaos server started. Basically, the town of Nerdsville (name courtesy of moi) is being secretly controlled by the Metaphor Mafia. The mafia is headed by Delphiniums. Delphy really enjoys committing first amendment violations (sometimes specific words are snatched away from the general populace).
This brings us to The Revolution, headed by The Torchbearer. Torchy used to work for the mafia until she decided being morally righteous was more pog than money, got shot, came back from the brink of death, and started a resistance against the mafia. It's important to note that the Rev and the mafia are decently big organizations in comparison to the third major player:
The Neutralists (who are going to get a new name very soon ;) ), headed by Prometheus. Prom Prom is a bit of a wet paper towel. A pathetic meow meow, even. Just... a wet paper towel with a really variable, not so poggers moral code. She's a decent person tho I swear
NOW with all of that out of the way, we also happen to have like a million other characters and stuff to talk about so I'll let you decide if you want to continue knowing things or if this is enough skfjd
IF you'd like to know more, here are your options:
The right hand trio
Them individually (Epimetheus, Blaze, Indigo)
The left hand squad (Mica, Matthias)
Crazy mechanics (Flare, Cody)
Character relationships (specify if you wanna know about Figurehead Trio, sibling dynamics, or the main cast's relationships, ect)
Backstory stuff!
The individual duos in each organization (Prometheus/Epimetheus, Torchbearer/Blaze, Indigo/Delphiniums)
Or anything else really I enjoy talking about this. sorry that it got so long literally every time I send something like this to your ask box I go insane and just leave a textbook or something.
No, don't be sorry! I love getting long asks and seeing into your brain.
I'd actually like to know more about the Neutralists! If they're a small group lead by someone with the personality of a wet paper towel, how does that fare for them? Is the group likely to survive and how do they feel about their leader?
Ooh, also what are the relationships between the three group leaders? And I'd also like to hear about some sibling dynamics.
#im a sucker for character dynamics forgive me#also this premise is very interesting!!#oh and one more question: what does the mafia stand for? what do they believe in in order for torchbearer and co. to betray them?#my beloved besties#bird likes to perch on the mailbox

Can you explain to me how Rachel was annoying in the series?
Well, I’ll try to keep myself short for this one (lol no, this took an hour to write). Also, let’s not forget that they’re all kids, but I’m basing this off from when I read the series as a fourteen year old because my opinions haven’t changed much (for better or for worse).
I’m not the biggest fan of Rachel. I have to admit that portrayals of her by Simi, Kit, Logan, Apollo and all the others helped to shape her into something cooler than what she had been in my foggy memories but I actually went back to take a look in the books (well, TTC + BOTL so far) to refreshen my mind about events that have happened.
Also, you should browse through @blackjacktheboss's blog as she’s a) hilarious and b) says whatever I say in like a single sentence lol. But your ask is about me and my opinions so here we go:
What I didn’t like about Rachel was that she’s rude and bold (DON’T GET ME WRONG, I love that in female characters!!!), but she doesn’t have Annabeth’s excuse of survival of the fittest (literally running off as a traumatized seven year old) and introducing us into the world of the Riordanverse.
Percy was on his way, had shit to deal with and Rachel pretty much interrupted him from the get-go and thought getting her answers was more important than letting Percy just rush forward. Yes, this is Rachel’s entrance into the series and the net Riordan threw into the sea, to make us little fish adapt to her. But it still didn’t sit right with me, probably because I would never interact that way.
I get why she did that, but it’s the way how she did it that’s just making me go ???
Even if I was seeing weird things, I wouldn’t set out to distract/interrupt someone who is incredibly busy to get my way. Rachel’s dick move seems like a Karen boomer type of thing to pull off, but guess that’s up to you.
If I were her, I’d either film/try to photograph the monsters via phone (if that’s possible) or internet stalk enough to find the other person (note: despite Riordan’s stupid rule of not being able to use phones, demigods still can use computers/the internet, I guess). Percy was national news like a year or two ago in the timeline, so it shouldn’t be that difficult to find more stuff out about him, even in like 2008 or so. Let him have a spot on Perez Hilton's shitty gossip blog, for the OGs reading this.
Annabeth was used as a tool of exposition to introduce us to CHB, the demigod life and how things roll around there. She barged into Percy’s mission as a nuisance first but a necessity second in TLT.
However, in comparison to Rachel, Annabeth was transformed into a fully-fledged protagonist within a span of a chapter or two. Rachel needed another separate book after her first appearance, so we don’t just know Annabeth better, we know that she’s an important constant throughout the story as of Rachel seems… almost random? Is she truly necessary as a character?
This doesn’t come from a shipper perspective, this is coming from a character design perspective and adds to the feeling that the way she has been introduced to me as a reader just seems off.
Yes, BOTL makes sense with her as a reborn Ariadne, but technically Sally could’ve done the job as she’s a clear-sighted mortal as well lol. Then again, Sally is an adult, went to college, had a job, was unfortunately probably working it up with Paul, did the cha cha slide with him and had overall better shit to do.
Then Rachel as the oracle, which is just super weird in general. Wasn’t Apollo himself responsible for issuing prophecies in the OG myths? Or did he both, have the oracle of Delphi as his spokesperson and issue important stuff to Team Olympus? Am I mixing things up? I’m getting sidetracked, my bad.
Either way, this oracle gig might be the only time I’d say Rachel might be important in the future (badum tzz), but Riordan fumbled the bag in the follow ups series so there’s that. Did she even appear in HOO? Can’t remember and also don’t care.
Rachel is used as one out of three choices in regard to his love life that Percy can make. Calypso literally got introduced into BOTL and was admittedly Percy’s biggest what if… But the general gist doesn’t sit right with me. We have three possible routes with Percy and the others:
Rachel: somewhat normality in the mortal realm
Annabeth: the danger and thrill of the demigod life
Calypso: ambrosia and nectar. a hint of immortality
(On one hand, literally why but on the other hand, mad props for Percy who has literally three romantic leads in the same book.) I’d cancel one of them at least out and since Annabeth isn’t going anywhere, I’m taking Rachel. Sally could literally been Percy’s anchor to a normal mortal life as she had intended until it didn’t work out anymore when he became twelve and his monster alerting scent grew stronger.
Calypso and Annabeth would’ve been the perfect opposites where each of them had a strong case. The demigod life within the realms or mortal or the demigod life ascending to Olympus/immortality. Sounds cooler and is way simpler. Three people is way too much, this truly feels like a shonen anime harem thing and it’s defo not my cup of tea (and while some Annabeth sideships aren’t my thing (Lukabeth go cry in the corner, no one likes you, WTF, Connabeth you fugly), it’s super unfair that Annabeth solely has Percy (fuck off Luke) to rely on in regards of romantic endeavors).
Rachel almost feels redundant? The option to walk away from all of that… which isn’t really true as Rachel really tries to push and insert herself into the story the very first time we meet her? But that’s just me, I’m certain that others are saying they’d kill off Annabeth or kick Calypso (I mean yeah) into the curb.
Big ALSO:
Why does Percy need another white and uber-rich love interest?
I semi-joked on Dez’ post (@sawasawako) with this response about Annabeth needing to keep up with powerful Rachel, but the core still stands.
We already have an affluent Annabeth (granted, we don’t know exactly how the Chase’s riches are divided, whereas it’s clear that Rachel can just make anyone drop dead by saying who she is. Annabeth needed that weird lotus casino credit card to make that happen, so Miss Harvard Legacy doesn’t wield that Dare schmoney. Also don’t think Annabeth can just up papa’s money and go…? Idk).
Why do we need another person needing to upstage this?
Like Rachel has to triumph in regards to standard and prestige as if it were a badly written Jane Austen AU. For what reason…? Why not make Percy friends and acquaintances with someone who comes from a normal household for once, not super rich brats (Piper, Annabeth, Rachel, technically the Graces with their TV starlet mother amongst others).
Moreover…
Important question: why should Percy actually be impressed/attracted to that? He’s dirt poor and has been sent to (boarding) schools filled with stupid rich people since he’s been twelve, probably even younger than that. As if that’s the very first thing Percy would look out for or be wowed or something. He’s used to rich douchebags. I think he’s more surprised that someone used their money for his benefit for once and not to crash daddy’s new Mercedes again.
Like seriously… Rachel did that weird art project thing in BOTL with her covered in gold and posing like it’s a super normal thing to do? Even for rich snobbish kids standards? That sounds weird to me. I don’t know, maybe Riordan’s been streaming the new Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max on repeat and thought this girl is on fiyah (performed by Alicia Keys).
Rachel trying to separate herself from her money just comes off as super hypocritical when she’s using the very same funds to finance her lifestyle. I get it, trying to make amends and make a difference with the damage you have done but... your father still doesn't give a shit about the environment or YOU, sweetie. Kick him in the balls for once! Then you can go out about your art projects.
The concept of Percy having friends in the mortal realm is cool, but why does Rachel almost have to compete with Annabeth with her wealth and art stuff?
No seriously, the comparisons are constantly there, out and about. Roaming freely on the finest grass, needing to be feed delicious locally sourced carrots and stuff.
Annabeth is Athena’s kid. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, weaving, justice, warfare yada yada and arts and crafts. So definitely something which would affect Rachel, right (someone write that Athena messing with Rachel because she can AU and tag me please!)?
Annabeth wants to become an architect which translates to fancy building designer who is driving engineers like Leonardo Eugenio Valdez Cortes insane irl because the maths and physics don't work like that in the working field trust me I'm an engineer, which could/should be considered an art form.
They even shared some common ground while talking about architecture and design in BOTL!
Furthermore, they both share broken homes with absent parents (granted that all demigods go through that). Wealthy families at that as well. Shitty fathers that don’t care about their daughters well-being. Rachel however, is super powerful and influential in an unseen level in the mortal world. She isn’t like Matt Sloan (?) who truly messes up by destroying shit to get his father's attention, but she’s still in that circle and can easily demonstrate that. Making deals with her father and what not. We rarely see Annabeth doing that. Did y’all forget the fucking helicopter Rachel brought along in TLO?
Pan saying Rachel is just as important as her father has multiple meanings to me…
(Sidenote: I do think it’s hilarious that Annabeth is jealous/annoyed of Rachel that her remarks were she’s cute right and Percy went??? Or when Tyson said Rachel’s pretty? Or that time when Annabeth actually defended Luke and his weird behavior (because Kronos was slowly taking over, don’t forget that kids!), because f that rich artist nepotism kid that Rachel seems to be, right?)
Another note: Percy thinks Rachel is annoying in BOTL for a while and it took a while for him to admit that and he spent way more time being annoyed/jealous (for once, Lordy) at Luke for him to even notice lol.
I guess it’s really hard for me to exactly pinpoint what’s bothering me. I believe Rachel's persona just doesn’t seem to hit right, because it feels like a knock-off Annabeth who just simply isn’t a demigod, yet has two cool powers, but in even richer who still needs to be part of the story for exactly what reason?
The jumping around from the richest in the series to the poorest in the series is kinda bothering me as if the middle class doesn’t exist, like I’ve stated earlier. Why didn’t Riordan mix it up with Rachel, giving her more nuance the minute they met, not towards the end? Have her be Percy’s platonic friend from the get go. No weird oh wait she is kinda cute in the middle bullshit.
This kinda drifted more into a Perachel vs Percabeth essay, which really wasn’t my intention. Don’t worry kids, I’m criticizing Annabeth (and her stans) enough already.
And I do think that others in the fandom have softened my views on Rachel as a person like I’ve stated in the beginning. So friendship!Perachel is popping! But I do think that there are some valid points that I’ve made.
Also not gonna lie, Rachel issuing the new prophecy in TLO kinda dampened the end of PJO series but that’s more Riordan’s fault than hers.
TLDR: I’m just not a huge fan of this overbearing, uber-rich, excessively flaunting being that Rachel sometimes displays. She’s flawed, she’s broken at times, has a semi-interesting background story (although it has been done over and over again throughout the series and should be changed up for once) which is great, but it is still annoying.
We don’t need an anti-Annabeth who feels like a weird caricature of the real Annabeth.
Also if this seems super incoherent, repetitive, or whatever, I'm sorry, massive headaches + mental health going down the goo lagoon does this to ya, I hope I made somewhat sense!

How do you think lilac is with bryce and sienna's kids?? We always read fics where we see how bryce and sienna are with mc and ethan's kids so what is ur hc on lilac with their kids is she their godmother?
She is definitely godmother to Sienna’s kid (and she is also their aunt because I HC sienna x mc’s brother oops). But... Your ask inspired me to write a piece with Ethan and these kids so here we go...
Babysitter
Book: Open Heart Pairing: Dr. Ethan Ramsey x f!MC (Dr. Lilac Allende) Word count: 950 Warning: Language Summary: Ethan has to babysit 5 children who demand pancakes.
Pale beams of sunshine pour through the window, catching in her hair and bringing out the subtle gold tones in the rich brown. Lilac laughs when he takes her hand and spins her to him, easily pressing her against his chest.
“Don't go,” he commands softly, pressing a sizzling kiss to her throat.
“I can’t skip it. It’s an important meeting,” she protests, the hitch in her breath indicating Ethan’s ministrations could possibly convince her.
“It’s a board meeting. We already know it will be a monumental waste of time.” His voice is pure gravel against her ear, his hands finding refuge under the silk of her blouse.
With a mournful little sigh, his wife gently pushes away, kissing him chastely on the cheek. “I’ll be back before you know it.”
She pauses, astute green eyes surveying his face for a moment. “Are you nervous? Because if you are, you shouldn't be. You’ll be okay with the kids.”
“I know,” he returns, almost too quickly.
Lilac looks unconvinced.
“They’re just kids,” Ethan rationalizes, more to himself than to her. “Not much worse than dealing with interns, right?”
Memories of the previous night's slumber party play out in his mind and all Ethan remembers is a cacophony of shrieks, errant popcorn flying everywhere, and the passionate argument that ensued when none of the five children in their care could agree on a movie.
His wife reads his mind. “Last night was loud because they had ice cream after dinner and some candy during the movie. Just don't feed them that for breakfast and you'll be okay.” Another loving kiss to his cheek. “And if you can't tell them apart again, just remember that Bryce's twins are the ones who will most likely break something. Sienna's son will probably try to clean it up. And Jonah or Lolly will unhelpfully announce what's going on. Though I really hope you can at least tell them apart as they are yours.”
Ethan rolls his eyes, certain he can keep track of every child.
As it turns out, his wife is right. Not even two hours after her departure, the children are wide awake and the first casualty comes in the form of a ceramic vase Lilac's sister had gifted them. It explodes against the floor, and Lilac's prediction comes true all at once, like a prophecy from the oracle at Delphi.
“Malia broke aunt Laurel's gift to mommy,” Jonah announces loudly.
“It was Alani,” his daughter amends sagely.
A frantic little boy rushes into the mess of ceramic, ready to clean it up.
“Don't touch it, Daniel,” Ethan warns loudly, causing the child to freeze, terrified. “You're not in trouble. It's just very dangerous to touch the broken pieces. You can cut yourself.”
After safely disposing of the mess, Ethan miraculously herds them into the kitchen for breakfast. There's a long, almost ominous silence as they decide what to eat.
“I want pancakes,” Malia declares.
The proclamation is followed by cheerful agreement from the other children.
Fuck.
Out of all the foods they could've picked, they had to pick the one that always ends in a burnt, inedible heap in the Ramsey household.
“How about waffles?” Ethan offers instead. “They're basically the same thing, except better.”
And we have a machine that can cook them.
Alani Lahela scrunches her nose in disgust, as though Ethan's statement is the most outrageous thing she's ever heard.
“Can we have chocolate chip pancakes instead, Dr. Uncle?” Danny adds timidly. “Please and thank—”
“Yeah, chocolate chip pancakes!” Alani interrupts enthusiastically.
And then the chanting begins.
“Pancakes, pancakes, pancakes!”
Ethan is convinced he's had this exact nightmare before. Even his traitorous son and daughter join in.
“You two know your mother is the only one who makes those,” Ethan reminds his own children. “Mine never end up the same.”
“We can look it up online,” Jonah offers helpfully. “There has to be a YouTube video or something.”
“Yeah,” Lolly adds. “And if you burn them again, we can give them to Jenner.”
In the end, they adopt Jonah's plan of using the internet.
“You're supposed to flip them when the bubbles pop,” Jonah says half an hour later, parroting what the video said only seconds ago.
The rest of the children watch in wonder as bubbles begin to appear on the shapeless pancakes.
“That one's ready!” Alani excitedly points out.
“Good eye, Lahela,” Ethan commends, relieved when the pancake appears unburned.
“Why do the bubbles form?” Danny wonders out loud.
“Because science,” Malia explains simply.
Ethan chuckles. “You're partly right. When you cook pancakes, the batter undergoes a chemical change. As such, the formation of bubbles is caused by the release of gas.”
As expected, the children erupt into a fit of giggles at the word.
Even Ethan grins. “Not the kind of gas you're thinking. We added baking powder to the batter, which is a chemical leavening agent that makes them fluffy. When it's activated, it releases carbon dioxide, the gas. It's what makes the bubbles you see.”
They all stare at him in amazement, even if it's evident they didn't quite understand everything he explained.
“Cool!” Jonah exclaims.
“You remembered the baking powder this time,” Lilac laughs from the doorway. When Ethan looks over his shoulder, she is watching the scene fondly.
“Mommy!” Lolly cries happily, running into her mother's arms.
When all five children are occupied washing their hands, Lilac wraps her arms around his waist as he cooks, pressing a kiss on his shoulder blade. She inspects his work over his shoulder, sounding impressed.
“Not bad, Ramsey.”
“My life depended on these turning out right.”
She laughs, the sound warm and comforting. Her sultry, dazzling voice is at his ear in moments. “And that mini science lesson was the hottest thing I've ever seen.”
Ethan turns, arching an intrigued brow at her. “Is that so?”
“Mhmm.”
Ethan is unable to resist her charm much longer, kissing her fully.
A chorus of exaggerated disgust interrupts them as the children catch sight of the affectionate display.
__________
Author’s Note: Thank you to everyone for the lovely name suggestions for these kids. Lilac and Ethan’s kids are Jonah and Dolores “Lolly”. Sienna’s is Daniel, and Bryce has twin girls Malia and Alani Lahela :)

More Than Meets the Eye #19- Ambulon and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
We got a major reveal at the end of last issue, and now it’s time to put the rest of the pieces together so we can finally understand the mystery that is the Ultra Magnus situation.
So back when Magnus’ seemingly lifeless body stole a shuttle, fucked off into space and landed on the moon, Tyrest was there to greet him.
And by “greet him”, I mean punch through the windshield and carry him bridal style, as if he weighed no more than a baby bird, into his moon base.
Pharma did his thing with his crazy new hands, Magnus was saved, and he woke up shortly after his lifesaving operation. Then Tyrest punched Magnus in the face, because fuck the healing process. He’s an engineer, not a doctor, he doesn’t deal with the SOUL and FEELINGS or anything like that.
In the here and now, Rodimus is still trying to comprehend the fact that his SIC isn’t dead, and is also actually another, much smaller guy with a mustache. Minimus Ambus attempts to explain just what the hell is going on, and we get back to our flashback.
After some good old-fashioned face violence, Tyrest showed Magnus around the place, specifically the terminal he’d set up for his on-the-fly, real-time law amending. With how many war crimes the Cybertronian race has committed in the last several million years, I’m sure it was needed.
Dang, wonder who pissed off Big Brother.
Magnus is more concerned about how it is exactly he isn’t dead right now, and also why his boss looks like a swiss cheese party platter.
Turns out that Tyrest isn’t actually mad at Magnus, just disappointed. He went and read his diary while the operation was happening, and in the 18 months that the Knight Quest has been running, Tyrest has deemed the work done to be unsatisfactory. Instead of arresting criminals, Magnus had been handling infractions so minor, most people wouldn’t have even noticed them. Tyrest doesn’t know where he went wrong.
Well, Tyrest, it was probably the anxiety that manifested itself as OCD, because you picked someone without factoring what the end of the war might do to them. Magnus needs structure to flourish, and if he cannot find it, he will make it himself. I mean, look at all this:
No wonder he was struggling on the chaos engine that is the Lost Light.
Still, Tyrest wants nothing to do with someone who’s cracked under the pressure (lack of pressure?) and the deal was that Magnus only got to be Magnus if he did what Tyrest wanted. Tyrest divests him with the literal push of a button.
Good grief, he’s naked!
As Minimus Ambus mourns over the loss of his stature, both literal and position-wise, we get back to the present, in a double-page spread no less, as Minimus tells everyone about the storied history of the Magnus Armor. Ultra Magnus was originally an actual person, but then he died, and Tyrest was kind of bummed out about that, so he decided to make up a lie (lying, while perhaps morally dubious is not illegal, so he’s allowed to do that) that Magnus faked his death, and then built the armor. There were at least a few wearers of the armor prior to Minimus, some of who were even known by the other crew members. Whenever someone got offed, their hand would spasm and press a recall button in their palm, which would bring the Magnus Armor, and the dead body inside, back to Tyrest.
You can tell he’s still real shaken up about losing the Magnus Armor, because he’s truncating his words. Poor guy.
Minimus asks what exactly happened after he got stabbed, seeing as he was too busy dying to really pay attention to the Overlord plot. Rodimus tells him it’s been handled. Brainstorm jumps in, wanting to know about the other things on Minimus’ resume, which leads into Minimus revealing the fact that he is a Point One Percenter, and something known as a Load Bearer. Load Bearers circumvent that niggling little issue that we saw presented in the “Shadowplay” arc, where spark strain due to not being able to handle a different frame type would outright kill you. Minimus doesn’t have that problem.
Tailgate wants to know how exactly it is that Minimus isn’t dead, seeing as he was clearly on his way out prior to his grand theft auto. Tailgate may have a personal interest in that sort of information, what with still being terminal and all.
Everyone’s real handsy this issue.
Minimus lets Tailgate know that Tyrest’s medical equipment is off the hook, and we get a reminder that Tailgate’s got basically a day left to live. Harsh, Roberts.
Back in Minimus’ flashback, Tyrest sort-of apologizes for punching him in the face, and laments on the loss of one of his greatest Enforcers of the Tyrest Accord.
Oh, so you DID know that this was a possibility, and instead of ordering your subordinate to go make that follow-up appointment with the only therapist on Cybertron- which, while being borderline sectioning, would have at least kept Minimus from sending emails to Rodimus about how he was spiraling- you just let it happen. The Vector Sigma pulse wave went all over the galaxy, there’s zero possibility you didn’t hear about the end of the war before Magnus loaded up on the Lost Light and didn’t call for a year and a half.
Anyway, so Tyrest’s got a new Enforcer lined up, seeing as he’s going to retire the Magnus Armor after all the shenanigans Minimus got dragged through while wearing it. Let’s see what we’re working with.
I thought we were supposed to have separation of church and state, what the hell?
In the present, Rodimus has questions, mainly about why there are so many people in this prison cell. Minimus admits that he asked to be put in here, to try and prove Rodimus and friends’ innocence on the charge of harboring a criminal, by recording their conversation and proving that they had no idea what SKIDS deal was.
Yep, Skids did a bad, and Tyrest wants him in jail.
Minimus also drops the bomb that everyone else in this cell is going to get he death penalty for that whole “crimes against creation” thing. I mean, all Tyrest has to do is wait for a little while and Tailgate will be dealt with, no sweat.
Minimus pulls a device out of his hip compartment, uses it to disrupt the electro-bars of the cell (it’s cool, he was an undercover cop for this whole thing and can therefore break out of prison without it being a crime), and goes to have a chat with his boss about all the weird new stuff he’s shoved into the Autobot Code in the last year and a half. Rodimus doesn’t really want him to leave, but there’s no time for that, because the cell just got a little more full.

Uh oh, Swerve’s badge has gone missing again. Rung, why don’t you slap yours on his crotch, that way Minimus won’t try to murder him when he gets back?
While this is happening, Whirl and Cyclonus are standing on the rim of a smelting pool, absolutely not having a dick measuring contest.
Luna 1 said Bi Rights.
There’s a structure built over the pool that looks an awful lot like living quarters, but is probably actually a prison that violates the Geneva convention. Whirl suggests they find some weapons and go hog-wild, but Cyclonus is more concerned about finding something. When Whirl asks what in the hell he could possibly be looking for in this sort of crisis, Cyclonus turns into a moody teenager.
Well, at least he’s respecting Tailgate’s wish to keep his looming demise under wraps. Not that Cyclonus tells anyone anything anyway.
Over in the Luna 1 medibay, Ratchet is being subjected to having his very fucking soul threatened with a paring knife. Pharma’s having what probably an inappropriate amount of fun, especially since he’s realized that Ratchet took his goddamn hands after the shitshow that was Delphi.
It turns out that every single piece of tech that Ultra Magnus ever repossessed is floating around on Luna 1, even the stuff that really ought to have been destroyed. This is why they were able to save Magnus from certain death at the start of the issue. Somehow I’m not surprised that Tyrest kept all those toys for himself. Corruption of an authority figure? In my Cybertronian Justice System? It’s more likely than you think.
Some of the little art quirks in MTMTE are added in by Milne- see Brainstorm holding any handgun ever if you’d like an example- but I know for a FACT that Pharma humping Ratchet’s headless body was specified by Roberts.
Ratchet, unimpressed and likely mildly queasy by the display going on before him, proposes that Pharma’s afraid of failure, which is why he hasn’t taken his hands back. Pharma disagrees, and a wager is set to see who the better doctor is- winner gets to keep the hands.
Over with the fly boys, alarms are going off in a deserted building, as Whirl struggles to open a door with his claws. Cyclonus takes over on door duty, and asks why Whirl hasn’t gotten his shit fixed yet.
Whirl’s worried that if he gets help for his trauma, he’s going to lose a huge part of himself as a person, and then where will he be? Of course, he says it in a much more Whirly fashion, full of vitriolic self-blame, but reading between the lines is fun. Whirl fires the “let’s get into each other’s personal issues even though both of us hate talking about ourselves and also each other” missile right back at Cyclonus. He wants to know about Cyclonus’ facial situation.
Cyclonus doesn’t like this question.
Then he gets stabbed with a sword.
Back with the docs, it’s apparently much later, as Ratchet’s just woken up from surgery and has a body again. He gets up from the operating table and finds that Pharma’s gone ahead with setting up their gentleman’s wager.
First Aid seems less than pleased with the current situation. Ambulon’s arms are long as hell in this panel, and he doesn’t seem entirely present in the moment. Maybe he’s practicing Rungian Re-Experience Therapy.
Pharma wants to cut both of the boys in half to see who can put the pieces together back the fastest. Ratchet tries to deescalate the situation, because he’s usually pretty good at it, but Pharma’s set on using his chainsaw attachment on someone today.
Ratchet attempts to console his coworkers, saying that their Springer-on-Pova treatment be over soon, and they’ll get a nice lollipop at the end for being such brave little robots.
Then Pharma cuts Ambulon in half, in a way that Ratchet hadn’t accounted for.

We’re gonna need a little more than some bandaids and a kiss to make it feel better for this one. It’s amazing what censorship laws will let you get away with when the blood isn’t red.
Speaking of blood, Cyclonus is more or less okay with being stabbed, because Whirl did him a solid and chopped his assailant in half- lengthways- with a super sweet sword he found in the armory they just opened up. Cyclonus pulls the blade out of his midriff and we finally find out what happened to the Circle of Light.

Back in the prison cell, Perceptor’s been given the job of doctor, even though Rung, Swerve, and Chromedome are all here and at least somewhat closer to being general practice doctors than our science sniper.
Seems like Swerve filled everyone in on the situation on the Lost Light off-panel, which is good, because they’ve been in the dark up to this point.
Chromedome hypothesizes that the reason Skids is a wanted man has to do with that mysterious gun he was holding when he fell out of the sky all the way back in issue #2. This is the point where Skids wakes up from his stabbing and admits that this is probably what happened, even though he still has no recollection of ever stealing the gun or even it existing up until he entered the story, but he apologizes for the trouble anyway.
Shh. Someone’s coming down the corridor. It’s Star Saber, and he’s brought yet another prisoner to stuff in this cell.
And there’s something else. Can you hear it?
Is… is that music?
Are those the beginning synth riffs of “Tainted Love" by Soft Cell?
Over with Minimus, we’re treated to a taste of Tyrest’s personal brand of disinterest, then get a quick run-down of the birds and the bees. The forging process is a little more convoluted than originally implied, needing Primus to send out a pulse wave through Vector Sigma in order for the Hot Spots to be ignited.
Then the pulse waves started to slow down, Nova Prime had a little freak out, and cold construction was invented to prevent the Cybertronian race from becoming an endangered species.
Minimus of course knows all of this, because he, like basically half of the cast of MTMTE, is old as shit. What he DOESN’T know is that cold construction isn’t managed the way that anyone thought that it was, because there was a government coverup going on about the whole thing. You don’t splice sparks to make a new one, you use the Matrix to create new life.
I know, it’s crazy.
Tyrest was on the team that fiddled around with the Matrix until it started spitting out robot zygotes, and he’s now convinced that they bled the Matrix dry. Nobody tell him what happened to the thing after the war ended.
Wait. If the pulse waves have stopped, and the Matrix is busted beyond repair, doesn’t that mean they can’t make any more Transformers? Once they finish up on their stockpile of sparks, that’s it. No more. The Transformers are a protected species now, we’ve got to treat them like giant pandas.
One of his team members stole the Matrix and hid it in the black market, so its strange, mystical baby powers could never be used again. Except someone obviously found it later on, because we have half of it on the Lost Light. Minimus isn’t sure why any of this is actually relevant to the current situation, or why Tyrest feels guilty about pulling a Eugenesis Fulcrum and finding out where babies come from.
Tyrest is convinced that by draining the Matrix, his team somehow corrupted it, and all the sparks made by this corrupted Matrix are straying further and further from Primus. This is why Rodimus and friends have been charged with crimes against creation- some of their party were created in a way that predisposes them to crime. Or so Tyrest thinks.
I thought we were supposed to have separation of church and state, what the hell? This is still the same guy who was appointed as Chief Justice by the space pope because of his levelheadedness, right?
Yes, actually, but this sudden flip in priorities and personality has been induced by the guilt he felt during the Aequitas trials. Tyrest turned to self harm to deal with the weight of it all, and one day tried to go for what in most species would have been a suicide, by drilling with his drill fingers into the spot between his eyes. Instead, he most likely gave himself a lobotomy and became a religious zealot, fully believing that the gods are real, and he can go visit them by using his super-cool space portal.
Outside the moon base, Whirl and Cyclonus have freed the Circle of Light, and everyone’s ready to kick some ass. Both the fly boys have found themselves a Great Sword to play with, further cementing Cyclonus as our replacement Drift. Rodimus will be so thrilled.
Dai Atlas, the leader of the Circle of Light, tells our boys that there used to be a lot more of his group, but a lot of folks ended up being used to build Legislators.
Hm. I’m sure that’ll never be brought up again, and won’t paint future events in a much darker light. Nope. Absolutely not.
Cyclonus thinks that they need to get a move on, because if that sort of horrific shit can happen to the Circle of Light, it can also happen to Tailgate and the others. He does specifically name Tailgate in his dialogue, but it’s not like he actually cares about the guy, right? Feelings are for nerds.
Then the Legislators show up and it’s party time.
Wonder how that’s going to work out for you, Whirl.
Back with Tyrest, it’s revealed that Tyrest’s plan has a small snag- only people completely absolved of their guilt can go to Cyberutopia to hang out with Primus and the gang, and Tyrest is feeling awful guilty. Not about his weird space-eugenics thing, but about inventing cold construction. Now, how in the world is he going to handle this?
By committing a genocide.
Minimus is, understandably, not a fan of this plan. Tyrest had anticipated that the Universal Killswitch wouldn’t be universally appreciated, and has some of the new law come into play.
And that’s a series wrap on Minimus Ambus! Let’s give him a hand, folks!

What are your opinions on visions and prophecy's from a narrative standpoint? For example, I'm not a fan of prophecy's because A) it gives stuff away (we know Jon is one of the three heads) and B) I think gives prophesied less agency because the supernatural already decided their fate. For visions, I like the kinda muddled ones that are harder to make out, unlike the ones like in ACOK where the Red Wedding was given away.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but the answer is always a big “it depends on how it is used.”
When prophecies are introduced in writing, the idea of it not being what people expect through misinterpretation is almost guaranteed to happen; that’s how common the trope is. When Croesus, King of Lydia, received the prophecy from Delphi: “if you march you will destroy a great empire,” he marched, thinking his victory was assured.” Croesus was defeated by Cyrus of Persia, and when he was returned to Delphi, the oracle remarked that Croesus did destroy a great empire: his own. If he misinterpreted the words, that was his own fault, not that of the gods that bestowed it. Arthur Dent met Agrajag, a being by which Arthur Dent killed accidentally through almost every reincarnation, Agrajag fumed at, among other indignities, that Arthur killed him at “Stavromula Beta,” a planet that Arthur had never visited. After this encounter, Arthur believed he couldn’t die because he would have to visit the planet first as per the rules of causality. Instead, the place was a club called “Beta” owned and operated by “Stavro Mueller,” which Arthur visits incidentally in the fifth book. An Aes Sedai in the Wheel of Time series, “never lies, but the truth she speaks may not be the truth you think you hear.”
When a prophecy is used, the best way to use it is to give multiple interpretations of the prophecy, either multiple people who fit the criteria, multiple ways the criteria could be interpreted and still qualify, or both. A prophecy “a child born on a new year will deliver us from the So-and-So Empire” is as you say, it gives stuff away and delivers less agency to the character as their destiny is set in stone. Something more vague elicits the joy of speculating and discovery. “Beware the she-bear,” for example, could mean literal danger from a female bear, but it could mean danger from say, a noblewoman with a bear on her house’s heraldry, a woman whose name means “bear” in a foreign tongue, or perhaps a great chieftain who wears the pelt of a female bear, and that doesn’t even begin to cover what exactly the danger is.
Your B scenario does have its own problems. I’ve never been shy about my dislike of Chosen Ones in fantasy. I’ve never liked the idea of heroes as the chosen few, unique and intrinsic, it stinks to me of dull power fantasy almost as much as an Author Avatar. It dulls the story because in some sense, the character’s victories are unearned. If the exact same character, unbound by a destiny, commits the exact actions, they’re not going to succeed because destiny. Some people simply aren’t important because they do not bear the weight of a special blood or destiny. Certainly, there have been great stories written about Chosen Ones, but I personally like ones that involve some sort of rejection of the destiny and a forging of your own place within it.
A good example would be the Baldur’s Gate series, where a good-aligned character must struggle with their destiny as the offspring of the Lord of Murder. The divine destiny drives much of the plot, but the player must struggle against it. Sometimes this is true in the most literal sense, the Tears of Bhaal challenges in Hell at the end of Shadows of Amn is incredibly literal, and Sarevok is explicitly trying to kill Bhaalspawn to assume the power of the Lord of Murder and struggling against him is as much self-defense as it is proof of who is the better murderer, but the destiny of murder makes itself known in other ways. Even as the holiest paladin you can play, you still murder your way through the population of a small nation in direct combat and indirectly cause even more (a great way of having mechanics reflect plot given the game engine). Planescape: Torment turns the idea of a divine destiny on its head, where the player learns that the inheritance the Nameless One has is being an eternal blight on the planes as a result of powerful magic that he orchestrated via Ravel, and coming to terms and making amends with all the harm you’ve caused over the course of your many lifetimes, from major character like Dak’kon to minor ones like Finam, is the character arc for good-aligned Nameless Ones.
Of course, that’s my opinion. Plenty of people like Chosen Ones, and if they want to write it, that’s their prerogative.
Thanks for the question, Bruin.

Wish someone smarter than me could do a write-up about the structure of MTMTE/LL. It nominally takes on the episodic sci-fi build of Star Trek. Each week is a new planet or a tech malfunction, the cast react, shenanigans and plot ensue. Nominally. But the episodic plots are interspersed with single-issue arcs that completely change the status quo. By the second season the episodic plot structure switches. Instead of each week bringing a new planet, each arc resolves a different thread from the first season. Season 3 is a special case since it’s highly compressed, but it broadly follows the season 2 structure of picking up and resolving hanging threads. So the structure is Episodic Inciting Incident -> Plot + Mysterious Hinted Problem -> Status Quo Shifting Single Issue -> Explore and Resolve Mysterious Hinted Problem.
Which is just an expanded version of the episodic plot, but that doesn’t even start to cover the role each new planet takes. Inciting incidents never offer an opportunity to explore new worlds, they offer opportunities to resolve past events. Ratchet goes to Delphi to investigate fatalities, but he actually goes to recover his will to live. The team goes to Luna 1 to follow Magnus, but they actually go for Rodimus to make amends. The team goes to Troja Major, but they actually go for Nautica to find closure. I’ve said before that the true setting of MTMTE is the past. Few of the locations are really new or relevant as enclosed worlds, each one is just a reminder. Rather than an adventure into the unknown, it’s an opportunity for each cast member to revisit the sites of their sins. The one-offs have more impact than the major arcs and they crop up reliably. Two-issue arcs are strategically deployed to break up the pattern and just when you think you’re safe—the DJD and Scavengers crop up once a season! The structure is more TV show than comic but it’s too serialized for Monster of the Week and too episodic for premium TV. It repeats itself each season almost exactly but you can’t track it in arcs like with podcasts, it’s probably just me thinking it’s special because I like it but I do like it and I do think it’s special

Tezos upgrade reduces smart contract fees by 75% to attract DeFi
Top-20 crypto asset by market cap Tezos (XTZ) has successfully completed its latest upgrade, “Delphi,” which aims to reduce smart contract gas fees by 75% to attract decentralized finance (DeFi) developers to build on top of its blockchain.
Delphi was proposed on Sept. 3. It’s a joint undertaking from Nomadic Labs, Metastatic, and Gabriel Algour intended to “help individuals developing smart contracts on Tezos.”
According to a joint post from Delphi’s developers the upgrade is “crucial to enable novel applications on Tezos that target areas like DeFi, collectibles, and gaming.”
“The size and complexity of smart contracts is limited by gas constraints and so people attempting to build contracts with rich functionality have needed improvements to those constraints for some time.”
Tezos is a fourth-generation blockchain platform that utilizes proof-of-stake and facilitates smarts contracts and decentralized applications.
Tezos’ core value proposition is that it’s a “self-amending blockchain,” which formally utilizes on-chain mechanisms for proposing, testing, and activating protocol upgrades without requiring the network undergo a hard fork.
The Delphi upgrade included optimizations to gas computation, including a reduction in the base cost of manager operations from 10,000 to 1,000 gas units, and implementation of new cost models for type checking and IOs.
With the update, Tezos blocks can now include three-and-a-half times more simple XTZ transactions and four times more multi-asset transfers, while contracts can perform 10 times as many internal calls as was possible prior to Delphi’s implementation.
Delphi also reduces Tezos storage costs by a factor of four, from 1 XTZ to 0.25 XTZ per kilobyte. XTZ is currently trading for $2.06 each.
“The benefits will be most visible in large and complex contracts involving multiple calls to other contracts and substantial computation.”
Further upgrades building on Delphi’s new features are expected to be proposed by Nomadic Labs before early December.
Tezos conducted an initial coin offering in July 2017 — raising $232 million in what was then the largest ICO to-date — before launching its mainnet in beta one year later.
