I’ve been skimming over the discussions regarding the latest SMG4 episode, and I gotta say, it’s been an incredibly interesting read.

I think what made me so surprised seeing folks’ reaction to Meggy and SMG4’s argument were that so many folks were quick to jump on Meggy for comparing SMG3 and Bob to Puzzles.

And while they’re completely right to disagree with her and even argue against her points; I’d like to toss in my two cents and offer up the idea that the reason she did so was because they ended up redeeming themselves despite their crimes.

She’s not trying to justify the actions Puzzles did, or even “choosing” him— just trying to give him the opportunity to prove himself, much like Bob and SMG3 ended up doing.

Obviously comparing the severity of their crimes is one thing— but what makes their actions different than Puzzles’? What exactly makes them— the situation at hand, so different from Puzzles?

Puzzles probably the most complex villain we’ve seen thus far; with Meggy being the only one to see Puzzles for who he was when she went into his mindscape; the only one to see that depth after the events of the meme factory; and while that doesn’t justify his actions or what he put the crew through for years— it shines a light on just why Meggy is so insistent on doing this.

Both SMG4 and Meggy bring up good points regarding this entire situation, and as someone who’s loved writing the nuance and complexity behind this particular arc, it’s been very intriguing to watch these discussions unfold.

I dunno, that’s just my very rambly perspective from a fan— not as a writer, haha.

Remind me, exactly how many of your casts of characters all coexist in the same setting?

While they generally stick to their own lanes, you can kinda think of Sanction (superhero setting), ActiRangers (tokusatsu setting) , and Rumble After Dark (fighting game setting) as all take place loosely in the modern day / near future setting. Meanwhile, The Gingerwood Monster Research setting is a whimsical pseudo-medieval RPG fantasy world that doesn't really crossover with the others. I have a handful of other OCs who I don't draw super much that are a bit unmoored, like Ollie and Velvet.

it’s so. good. that buffy has to feel self loathing about what she’s doing with spike specifically because the underpinnings of the show require that vampires be Bad Monster Creatures who Cannot Feel and are just Lifeless Demons otherwise everything comes into question. about everything. except that spike is the crack in the foundation of the show itself and in that, he makes the show better! he’s the only end that makes sense for her because he sets her free!!!
