You know I've always been bothered by this but never really thought about why and it is definitely the insinuation that being dead would be the better option than what I have to do. That's a fucking stupid thing to say and people need to stop.

When you have a chronic ailment, you hear all the time “I could never.”

Oh, you cut out dairy/gluten/ect? I could never. Oh, you do self injections? I could never.

I could never deal with that much pain. I couldn’t live with all those doctor appointments. I could never stay in bed all day, I’d just get so bored! I couldn’t do it, I couldn’t live like that, can’t couldn’t wouldn’t…

Please stop implying to people with something chronic that you’d rather die than go through what they’re going through, and take a minute to understand that their treatment isn’t a hobby. It’s survival.

Yes, people with chronic ailments ARE incredibly strong. They ARE doing things you think you couldn’t ever do.

But they’re the same things that they likely thought they couldn’t ever do until they had no other option.

Yes. Often, someone with a chronic issue sees a notable decline in their quality of life.

That doesn’t make it less worth living.

You could do it if you had to.

“I could never” is not the empathetic response you think it is.

I can't stop thinking of an AU where instead of killing Lenore Dove, Snow has her arrested for her 'crimes' and sent to the capitol to become an avox. A fate that, to her at least, is probably much worse.

Maybe Snow has her work in the tribute center too. Every year she can see Haymitch, and he can see her, but they are not able to touch, or talk. No comfort, just a reminder of what you can't have.

It is a threat, how he keeps Haymitch in line. The reminder that he can, at any time, make Lenore Dove's life worse. Haymitch spends years and years trying to think of a way to get her out, to save her, and keeps coming up with nothing. At least until the main trilogy.

Wouldn't that be, like, the worst, most fucked up, and tragic AU?

Oh yeah this is so true I have cried many times because I needed to eat and didn't want to and it's so dumb but after I got the closed loop my hypos dropped significantly and I've dropped 5kg with no effort just from literally not having to pump myself full of calories to stay alive all the time

guys if i'm being so real. being diabetic IS having an eating disorder. like, there is no way of being diabetic that does not include disordered eating. and that's not even counting the diabetes-specific eating disorders that we have names for, like diabetic bulimia. like i feel like there should be a name for the relationship between the diabetic, the food that they eat, and the body they put it in. but right now we just call it "diabetes" and it's just a washed over part of the process of being alive with this shit

last year i found a wii at goodwill for 25 dollars and it came with everything except a wiimote but it was in such good condition i was like hell yeah ill take it how hard can it be to find a wiimote. the answer is it's nearly impossible to find them at thrift stores now so i've spent like 8 months looking for ones in thrift stores but there wasn't a single one and then online but i just couldn't bring myself to spend 30 dollars on one single wiimote so i waited so. patiently. and then 2 weeks ago i finally found one at goodwill for 9 dollars but it was absolutely disgusting and the battery cover was missing and the compartment was all corroded so i put it back and regretted it the whole week but then this last weekend i went to savers and there was an absolutely perfect wiimote just sitting there with no corrosion and a jacket and the wrist strap and motion plus and the nunchuck was there too and i got it all for 10 dollars so the moral of the story is that sometimes things seem right for you in the moment but you have to recognize that they aren't and leave them behind so the things that are meant for you will in fact find you when the time is right. peace and love <3
