This drawing is both feeling like pulling teeth and validating my efforts during 2024. Weird.
#a shadow's rambles#I feel I'm pulling through the worst of the initial stages of shading at last so that's good!!#tbh most of those initial stages was me crying over wings ngl#I still have some Crying Over Wings left but it was getting hard to do without a shaded body to reference values#Still I really needed to text if my approach to shading them had legs#That said I do feel this is the closest i've gotten to How Nela Is Supposed To Be in my head#her glowing everything has always made her so damn hard to shade lmao#I think i'm also getting better at being able to tell when the shading color is the problem and when the flat/base color is the problem#which is huge when fine tuning colors#i prefer to Not See how many color palettes i've ruined because i approached the problem the wrong way

It’s so funny seeing the problems people have with this show and just going *shrug*. The show itself is so ambitious that it was bound to have holes in the narrative, but like. “The adults only remember what’s convenient”—yeah, kinda? Kinda the idea? Do you remember every instance of what you did when you were eighteen, decades ago? I don’t. I definitely do not. And there is so much I know I’ve wallpapered over out of shame and regret and embarrassment—as a very normal person with a terribly boring upbringing.
Imagine spending two years where every day bleeds into the next, where you’re doing unimaginable things just to get by, where you’re sometimes reveling in the worst shit you could possibly be doing because it makes you feel alive? You’re telling me you’d cast that all in stone, memory-wise? Nah, dude, you’re pushing that shit down. You’re fine-tuning it in your head so it’s fuzzy at best and flat-out erased at worst. You think at forty these woman have just been chilling with their most reprehensible memories? Shauna absolutely did not. Taissa canonically repressed everything she possibly could. Natalie sank into drugs. Van ran away. It’s only when they’re together and they’re forced to actually interact that they start behaving like their teenage selves again. It’s only when you come back upon your old classmates that you fall into old patterns. Because doing otherwise for twenty-five years would have undone them completely. They did forget. Not completely, but the way you always forget huge swathes of your childhood. And then it’s easier to make the story what you can live with.
Shauna? Oh, she was kind of always writing, good with a knife, feel like she stressed me out sometimes, but I had my own problems. Oh, Tai? She was intense and ambitious and…did that ever damage me directly? Can’t recall. Van? She was sweet and funny and told stories. That’s probably it. Misty? Yeah, she was the outsider, she wasn’t even on the team. I remember making fun of her, but haven’t we all been there? Lottie? Where did she even go? We just lose track of old friends sometimes. Nat? Nat’s been in and out of trouble for years. Hard to remember what she even looked like when she was small and blonde and…and…rough? She was rough, right? Yeah. Yeah, the yearbook pictures back that up. Jackie? A tragedy. Just so sad. Anyway: life to live, groceries to buy, work to do. Anyway: don’t need to waste any more mental energy on that. Anyway: wait—why is someone sniffing around the story? What even is the story? It’s bad. It’s bad, why would we want to remember? It’s bad, and the details are coming back, and oh no, oh god, we can’t bury it any deeper.
What we’re watching in the adult timeline is far from flawless, but they are remembering as they go. And they’re coloring their own memories, which are really just memories of memories. Like Nat seeing Travis in the dead-wife light, they are still writing the narrative the way they can live with. But their stories are going to start butting up against one another. And the only way through is to be the last one standing: because then you can believe whatever you need to. Whatever lets you keep standing tall.
#yellowjackets#yj spoilers#yj meta#shauna saying I was a warrior is exactly this#van hating her younger self when there was so much to love is the opposite but equal reaction#taissa is only now letting the two parts of herself merge#Misty’s been rewriting the narrative the whole time pretending she was friends with these people#it’s all telling a story. it’s all telling DIFFERENT stories of the same events#no dude they don’t remember and that isn’t a bug. it’s intentional.#they have never once looked at the full truth of their lives#they only see what they’re capable of handling#anyway you can like it or love it or hate it or whatever but#i fundamentally disagree with anyone claiming the writing is trash or the writers are stupid

Announcing Disney Villains Cursed Café!
After nearly three years of work, I’m really proud to announce the release of Bloom Digital (@bloomdigital )‘s newest game, Disney Villains Cursed Café. I art directed this game, and I’m so excited to get to share the results of all our hard work!
youtube
You’ve probably heard me talk about Bloom before – we’re an indie game company, known for our beloved visual novels LongStory and Later Daters. We are a team of people who love telling stories! Getting to put all that energy towards the Disney Villains was a real privilege.
Working with Disney helped all of us hold our work to an even higher standard, and push ourselves as game makers. There’s a real responsibility attached when you get the chance to work with these characters, and it would have been impossible to navigate that nearly as well without the constant guidance and feedback of the team we worked with at Disney. Thanks to everyone there for helping make this game happen!

I have to brag about my coworkers – I don’t think I can imagine a better team than the lineup we have at Bloom. When you have a team that becomes more than the sum of its parts, you get to make games that are also more than the sum of their parts! Huge thanks from me and the artists to Miriam Verburg for steering the ship the whole time, Heather Jackson for making it effortless to bring the narrative into the art every step of the way, Keana Almario for keeping us all accountable to the players experience, JP Stringham for tackling the game design inside and out, and Danielle Russell for facilitating all the communication and oversight necessary to make something like this happen.

It’s important that I tell you how wonderful the art team in particular was! It might be counter-intuitive, but, you’re not going to see a single pixel of my own drawing in this game. As an art director, it was my job to find the best artists possible and then direct them towards bringing this game to life. I had the privilege and responsibility to lead a team of incredible artists towards making this game, and whatever you see in there, I want you to know one of these people made it happen.
Yi Pan was our senior game artist, which means he and I worked together on concepts from the beginning; you can see his brilliant painting and immensely appealing design work up front and center in all our potions, gifts, and in so much of the overall color design of the game. Jey Pawlik (@jeypawlik ) was our character artist and I think it’s impossible to understate how charming they managed to make our modernized villains, no matter their moods! Janiel Lo worked with us across many disciplines, laying out and painting our complex, amazing environments, as well as helping us make sure our beautiful UI felt both integrated into the world and also comfortable and easy to use. Ally Rom Colthoff (@varethane ) made it possible for us to have the environment art of my dreams by coming in and painting the heck out of that cafe! And the game wouldn’t be what it is without Sara Mena‘s concept work, and the contributions of many artists on the Disney side who contributed not only character art, UI, and identity designs, but helped us fine-tune everything that went into the game.
It’s the biggest team I’ve ever had the chance to work with as an art director, and I’m not kidding when I say that these professionals made it easy and fun to come in every day and see what brilliant new artwork awaited me.

Something extra special about this team was how excited the artists were to work with, brainstorm with, and sing the praises of each other. I’m so grateful for this team not just for their ability to make beautiful art but their ability to collaborate with each other, myself, and with the team at Disney. Everybody should be proud of themselves, not only as artists but as game makers.

I want to shout out the narrative team, who made time to be in the art meetings with me and the artists, making it so easy to keep everything absolutely on point narratively throughout the whole development. Heather and Mike took the time to get to know the art team, and made themselves available for quick questions, brainstorming sessions, and pep talks. I think what this did for the game was make it possible for every visual joke and narrative joke to play off each other in ways that could not have possibly happened without that kind of open communication.

To talk a little bit more about the UI process, one of the things that we decided to do early on was make this game’s UI very diegetic, to keep the buttons feeling as magical as everything else that you see and do in the game, and that would not have been possible without Keana’s expertise and dedication to solving complicated UX flow challenges. Her hard work let us get away with so much more by way of magical props, framing devices, and sparkles.

For me, as the art director, I don’t always get the chance to put my own handiwork into a game, and as I mentioned, all of the amazing drawing and painting that you see on screen is thanks to our art team. But what I did get to do, very much thanks to the support of JP, was tackle the majority of the VFX. Getting to be a VFX artist for a chunk of this project was a dream come true, because if there’s one thing this game is full of, it’s magic! Figuring out how to bring life and mystery and humour to all of the magic in this game was an amazing challenge that I am so glad I got to tackle.
As a game dev, launches are always special, but this launch has been outright overwhelming in such a good way. Thank you to everybody who is streaming the game, sharing lets plays, drawing fan art, and just generally yelling about getting to hang out with their faves in our magical Cursed Café! I hope as you play this game it feels like you’ve gotten to visit somewhere magical alongside the villains.
Thanks again to everybody involved for this opportunity. Drop your fav villian in the comments, and stay in touch with me and with Bloom to find out more about what else @bloomdigital has lined up!

At Wembley for rehearsal and the concerts, June 30-July 2, 1967. Photo 1 by Bill Chadwick, photo 2 by Michael Putland.
“Certainly the best-produced pop-music presentation I’ve ever seen — that’s a summary of the Monkees in concert at the massive 10,000-seater Wembley Pool. Constant changes of costume from the boys, with color stills and movies shown on a huge screen, and a tremendous amount of verve and apparent improvisations from the four boys. But the noise from the fans was so tremendous that it was virtually impossible to judge exactly how good they are on their instruments. Even so, Mike Nesmith produced some frantic guitar sounds; Micky Dolenz hammered his drum with total abandon; Davy used maracas, tambourine, mini-organ and (once) bass; Peter Tork moved from bass to organ and back again. Vocally the boys were fine — in movement and style and sheer dynamic presence.” - Record Mirror (July 8, 1967) “Peter Tork seemed to be happy whether he was on organ, bass guitar or banjo.” - Beat Instrumental (August 1967) “It’s very flattering of you to say that my solo banjo piece at the Wembley show was one of the highlights. It’s a facet of me that I would like to flower — though I don’t know when it will.” - Peter Tork, Disc & Music Echo (January 13, 1968) Times: “You were my favorite Monkee. And I’ve been taking a poll with women today and you’re getting lots of votes.” Tork: “(laughs) I wear well, I think. But I was way down in the pack in the early days. I was always, like, third.” […] Times: “Everyone says you can tell about a person based on which is their favorite Beatle. If the same goes for Monkees fans, describe the person who likes Peter Tork.” Tork: “I think people who preferred Peter Tork to the others were people who did not know if they belonged in life or not. The other three as characters were so self-assured, you believed that they didn’t have a problem. If you saw yourself as having a problem with life, you probably went for the Peter Tork character. Offbeat. Not quite mainstream, somehow not quite in tune.” - St. Petersburg Times (June 23, 2000) Regarding the remark, “I was always, like, third”… in the UK, at least, that was apparently the case in 1967: “Thousands of votes [for the 'Most Popular Monkee' poll] are still pouring in, but at presstime the state-of-the-Monkees Poll was: Davy Jones — 53 per cent Micky Dolenz — 22 per cent Peter Tork — 8 per cent Mike Nesmith — 7 per cent” - Disc & Music Echo (April 22, 1967) …except for the results of a poll conducted by a reader… “With your help, I conducted a poll to find the most popular Monkee. Here are the results: 1. Davy Jones with 1,361 votes; 2. Peter Tork, 183; 3. Micky Dolenz, 129; 4. Mike Nesmith, 124.” — Marilyn Ventham […], Dagenham, Essex“ - Record Mirror (March 25, 1967)

Pink goes well with Green
Summary: Going to see Wicked 💚🧹🩷🫧
Included: Leo (ROTMNT), Stanley Pines (Gravity Falls), Rapunzel & Eugene (Tangled), Verosika Mayday (Helluva Boss), Justin Russo (Wizards of Waverly Place), Captain Hook (Peter Pan), and Gwen (Total Drama)
💗Masterlist | AO3

Captain Hook (Peter Pan)
He was not excited about it. Sure, he enjoyed musicals, but not about witches and animals losing rights. He only agreed to go because: one, he wasn't entirely sure what it was at first and two, you had asked so nicely. He thought it was okay, but you find him humming the tunes here and there.
Favorite song: One Short Day - enjoyed the look at the new world, though he would be lying if he didn't enjoy Something Bad as well.
Leo (ROTMNT)
He did not need any convincing to come with you because he already bought pre-sale tickets before he even thought of asking you to join him. He will bring all the snacks into the theatre as it's the only thing that will stop him from singing along to ALL the songs. He cried during like 60% of the movie along with you.
Favorite song: Dancing through life (bc Fiyero)
Verosika Mayday (Helluva Boss)
She wasn't going to go with you unless you dressed up. And she means DRESSED up --- none of this just wearing pink or green shit. Verosika expects you to show up with her dressed up as Elphaba. She's Galina, of course. If you refuse, she will NOT see the movie with you and will go by herself or with someone else.
Favorite song: Says that it's Popular, but you found her singing I'm not that girl even since watching it.
Rapunzel & Eugene (Tangled)
Rapunzel has been preparing and singing the songs for months leading up to the movie. Eugene was happy to come along after seeing more about the movie, especially when he caught wind of Fiyero. They both have been singing the songs around the palace. You even caught both of them trying to master some of the dance moves.
Favorite song: Rapunzel has been trying to hit the high notes in No one mourns the wicked for weeks. Meanwhile, Eugene is rather partial to A Sentimental Man, surprisingly.
Justin Russo (Wizards of Waverly Place)
Of course, he's gonna tell you any inconsistencies with the magic in the movie. Though, he's made a promise not to do so at the theater, but rather during dinner afterwards. He wasn't against dressing up, especially since you've done so for his movies, but preferred to just stick to wearing the colors pink or green. Which was fine with you because you got to be the Elphaba to his Galinda. He is PISSED about it ending in a cliff hanger and having to wait a year until Part 2.
Favorite song: The wizard and I (Justin deeply understands Elphaba's desire to be seen as powerful and important. Not that he has admitted that to you. He also just finds the belts to be crazy).
Gwen (Total Drama)
She is not as excited to go, as she's not a huge fan of musicals, but is onboard to go with you since you want to see this. She isn't huge on dressing up for the movie, but agreed to wear black with some green to oppose your pink attire. Even though it was long as fuck, Gwen didn't hate it. And you will NOT let her live that down, blasting the soundtrack.
Favorite song: She thought that the final part in Defying Gravity was metal as fuck and wishes so badly that she could hit those notes tbh.
Stanley Pines (Gravity Falls)
He didn't see the big deal in two witches singing for 3 hours, but agreed to go along with you if you got the tickets and if you allowed him to sneak in food. While you two almost got caught by staff, Stan had to admit that he did enjoy the movie, crying at a part here and there. Plus it didn't hurt that it earned him some cool grunkle points with Mabel for knowing the songs.
Favorite song: What is this feeling? - Stan has so many people that he loathes, but none that he would sing this with (Though, he did get an offer from Gideon).

Hiiii I love your bugs soooo much! Which one(s) have been your favorite to work on so far? Also I was wondering- what program do you use to do your pixel art? I'd love to hear a bit about your process! <3
Ooh that's tough! It's hard to choose favorites, they're all my children haha. But I think I am really happy with my butterflies so far, perhaps because they are larger sprites so I'm able to get more detail on them, even though that means they take much longer to make. I think I especially love how my swallowtails turned out.

All of my sprites are made with the touch screen on my phone and when I told this to my brother (who is a professional artist) he was horrified and starting looking up cheap tablets for me haha. Start to finish it usually takes about 40 minutes to 2 hours for large sprites like these butterflies and a generally much shorter time for beetles and other small sprites. The majority of the time I spend on beetle sprites is finding a natural position to draw the legs in, which is something I've gotten a lot better at after making a lot of them. Butterflies have the benefit of not having visible legs to draw 😅 For all bugs I usually start with a black outline (starting with the head and a pair of blue eyes) and then fine tune the body shape before doing any coloring. For complex butterflies I have found it very useful to draw the wing venation (I am a huge wing venation nerd) even if I end up making the veins the same color as the wing bc it helps me compartmentalize the wing pattern into segmented zones. Honestly often while I'm making a sprite I'm thinking to myself "there is no way this is going to work" and then an hour later I take a step back and think "huh. I can't believe I did that" 😅

I hope non-Black and non-Asian fans who might also ship Reylo quickly come to understand that while Reylo did get a lot of push back for both valid and bullshit reasons… Oshamir shippers do in fact get to celebrate some of the hypocritical arguments working on our favor, because Black/bi-racial femme presenting and Asian male actors are almost never the leads in popular television and film.
They are either paired off with a white partner or they themselves are the sidekick to a white lead, and usually only date people within their ethnicity. The latter of which is neither bad nor wrong, but adds to the misguided belief that Black women and femmes and Asian men are not bankable or attractive outside their own demographic.
So I’m sorry to say, but if you are a Reylo shipper who feels slighted or even frustrated, that’s fine. Feel how you feel, I’m not saying you can’t or shouldn’t make posts about it, but white people being in corruption arc romances or etl is not a rare occasion. Meaning, when yet another one exhibits traits that are toxic or not so great, it is fine for people to not like it. It’s fine for people to call it annoying or repetitive, because it is. When it comes to non-white characters who either match ethnicities or are in an interracial relationship without a white partner, it automatically becomes something new.
Why? Because we do not often see it play out that way on screen. And no, Osha won’t be dealing with anti-Blackness or misogynoir on screen nor will Qimir deal with Asian stereotyping, because race and ethnicity aren’t played the same in Star Wars as far as I know, but that doesn’t mean their casting matters less in reality. At the end of the day, it’s all fiction, but that doesn’t change the fact that Black people and Asian (Filipino men to be exact) people shouldn’t be allowed this opportunity to seem ourselves reflected back on screen in the same genre based shows white people get.
Star Wars, science fiction, and fantasy in general is so overwhelmingly white and creatured/alien, that people don’t even realize how uncommon the tropes and cliches they’re tired of seeing, really are. Osha and Qimir would kikeky still work yet not be as thrilling if either one of them were white, because a white woman being corrupted by the evil man of color has very racist connotations, and a woman of color being corrupted by a misunderstood white man is very common on screen. And if they’re both white… then it’s just a Reylo do over, isn’t it?
So like I said, I understand people will be frustrated and want to know how Oshamir is different regarding the character journeys themselves, but it’s not always just about what’s on the written page. The Acolyte needs fine tuning in terms of the writing, but it’s not the worst show on tv by far. And the fact that Oshamir is interracial and non-white in the classic sense, is a huge part of why they work and why people are more interested than what may have been for Reylo.
#the acolyte#oshamir#not actually indirecting anyone but a post#in the tag did spur this since I also saw#people saying similar stuff on Twitter#also if there are typos… sorry I’ll fix later

Hi! I wanted to request a matchup of My Hero Academia romantic and platonic✨️ if I can include Spiderverse I'll be grateful too💕
I'm 25 years old, woman and heterosexual, but lately I wonder if I'm pansexual (with preferences on man, so, I don't know ;;;)
Anyways, I'm 1.59 ft tall, almost dark-brown hair with hazel eyes and subtle freckles on the upper part of my cheeks, two moles in my face (under one side of my lip and the other on my cheek), but it's funny because I have patrons of two moles in a few places of my body like my legs and arms
I started aerial silk to replace my other sport that I used to train, which it was karate (so much lore), but I started it to get rid off part of my vertigo and because I thought that I could use my entire strenght and not lose it. I tend to use pants almost all the time until summer comes, which I use shorts and baggy shirts to feel comfortable, I want to use dresses more often, but I keep avoiding them because I feel sexualized and I hate it
I love to hear Aurora, my favorite color is light blue and red; something that I can't stand is rude/mean people and sudden shouts or raise voices. What I love the most in the world are huge trees, even if I have megalophobia, gigantic trees are the only thing that I'm not afraid to looking at since it fills my chest with such happiness and peace
I don't know if it's too long, if it is I want to apologize ;;; and say thank you for your time!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello!
I would love to write you MHA and Spider-verse matchups (both platonic and romantic)!
<333333
I really hope you like your matches!
Enjoy!
<33333
Romantic and Platonic Matchups; My Hero Academia and Spider-Verse
~~~
Platonic;
~~~
My Hero Academia;
Anan Kurose (Thirteen) -
You met Anan Kurose - Thirteen - on your first day as the pro-hero's assistant in Search and Rescue, fresh out of an intense transition period in your life
Though you were confident in your abilities, there was still that lingering nervousness about meeting someone so respected
You walked in, and Thirteen turned toward you in her hero suit, her voice gentle but bright
"Ah, you must be my new assistant! Welcome. You'll find I prefer warmth over rank here."
And with that, your partnership began - not with rigidness, but with mutual respect and steady trust
Working with Anan was peaceful
She was thoughtful, organized, and always checking in to make sure you weren't too overwhelmed
She noticed your dislike of shouting quickly and never once raised her voice
If something needed correcting, she'd guide you softly, always calm
She admired your strength, especially your dedication to aerial silks, and watched your training in awe one day
She was the kind of person who remembered the little things
Like how you preferred light blue folders to put your assistant notes in
She'd leave you little notes on your desk
"Great work today!"
You, in turn, started leaving her star and space-themed stickers
You'd practice silks or combat skills, and she'd help fine-tune your landing techniques
After long days, you'd both unwind by watching nature documentaries or space ones
You'd curl up in a hoodie or something, sipping something warm
Knowing your complicated feelings about clothes, Anan offered to help redesign your hero costume into something more comfortable and powerful
Anan gradually became your anchor
Someone who balanced your emotional expressiveness with her calm
She never shut you down, never told you to be "less"
She listened, truly
When you vented about how certain outfits made you feel watched or judged, she sat with you, understanding
“You deserve to feel safe in your own skin, always.”
In return, you began noticing the little signs when she was tired
You'd gently tug her away from overwork and make sure she rested or at least had something to eat
You cook together during quiet evenings, easy meals that were warm and comforting when you both hung out for movie nights
You both try painting classes, before gifting your pieces to each other
You put together a karaoke night, since songs from AURORA
At your door, Anan always knocks softly, as not to scare you or stress you
You hug her unexpectedly one day, and though she froze at first, she slowly wrapped her arms around you, tight but warm
She gives you gentle encouragement, never pressure
You keep her grounded when they get caught up in life and hero business
~~~
Spider-Verse;
Hobie Brown (Spider-Punk) -
You first met Hobie at HQ after a particularly messy interdimensional assignment
You were tired, sweaty, and covered in this strange green goo (from Green Goblin from Universe 17-B79)
Hobie had just walked in from a mission, spotted you, and smirked
He bantered, you bantered a bit back, and from that moment on, Hobie knew you were his kind of people
You were the quiet storm
Disciplined from your karate background, focused from aerial silks, but with a personality sharp enough to slice through his dry sarcasm
HQ didn't stand a chance
You and Hobie became the definition of ride-or-die
Where he was loud, chaotic, and anti-authority, you brought precision, patience, and that soft, grounded energy that balanced him out
He was the first person to cheer you on when you started aerial dancing
He respects your past in karate deeply
You've shown him a few moves
You two would spar playfully sometimes, too
And do not fret!
Hobie may be loud and crazy chaotic, but he's pretty chill with you
He understands how much you dislike loud things and loud people, so he makes sure to be quiet and calming when he hangs out with you
You both sneak out into alternate versions of London or New York, even to the Redwood forest, to see the tall Redwood trees
He sends you playlists, some are his favorite songs
You send him your favorite songs as well
He likes 'Your Blood' by AURORA
He never judges your style
If you're wearing a baggy shirt and shorts, he compliments your style
If you ever get overwhelmed, Hobie will give you his headphones to wear so you can block out the outside world and listen to some good tunes
There's a kind of soul-bonding here that runs deeper than anything
This is 'that person gets me, sees me, protects me' bond
You and Hobie are the best of friends
Hobie likes to just show up in your dimension to hang out
He will humor you and try aerial
He's okay at it
You're the one he comes to when he gets overwhelmed
Hobie practically lives on your couch at this point
You've stopped questioning how he gets in without keys
(Your windows are always locked, too)
He brings you bagels and leaves band stickers on your fridge
On rainy days, you both cocoon yourselves in blankets and watch old movies
~~~
Romantic;
~~~
My Hero Academia;
Keigo Takami (Hawks) -
You and Hawks were first introduced during a high-stakes joint hero operation
A collapsed city block following a villain's quake-triggering attack
While most heroes were clearing debris or fighting lingering threats, you were already six people deep into the rubble, guiding civilians out with calm focus and creative use of your Quirk
Hawks noticed immediately
He perched casually on a broken building overhead, watching as you directed chaos into order with just your voice and body language
When you caught him watching, he flashed a lazy thumbs-up
You rolled your eyes and went back to work
That's when he knew he had to talk to you
Keigo loved how grounded you were
While he was zipping around cities and skimming headlines, you were down in the dirt, pulling people from tight places, staying calm even when your heartbeat was racing
You didn't buy into his charm like others did
That fascinated him
You didn't flatter him, didn't chase after him
You kind of teased him, slightly
He, in return, called you "his hummingird/hummingbird" because of all the times he caught you humming AURORA songs
You became his go-to person when he wanted to talk without being judged
He was exhausted, burnt out, and just needed someone to say, "you did enough today"
He'd drop by your apartment uninvited, flopping dramatically onto your couch
He never raised his voice around you, and if someone else did, he'd make his way between you and the person
Late-night food and snack runs after rough days
Him always insisting on paying, you trying to argue, never works
He joins your aerial practices, mostly flying around you
"You're like a bird up there."
You both take hiking trips on your rare days off
There's a moment when a young child says, "Are you and Hawks married?" while you're treating a cut on their leg
Hawks smirked, and you felt a bit flustered
Your friendship is full of small touches - his hand steadying you after the end of a battle, your arm brushing his when you both walk side by side
He started leaving you feathers
When you get overwhelmed, he's instantly calm and soft, never pushing, always present
"Want me to sit with you, or fly you somewhere quiet?"
"Can we just stay here?"
"Then here's where we'll be."
One rainy afternoon, after an exhausting rescue mission, you collapse on the floor of your shared temporary hero HQ
Keigo sits beside you, "You're one of my favorite people, you know that?"
You smiled softly, "Yeah... You're one of my favorite people, too."
Silently, Keigo just rests his head on your shoulder
Keigo wasn't used to feeling out of control
But sometimes about you turned his world upside-down
He caught himself seeking you out before and after patrols, not just to talk, but to be near you
He noticed your freckles when the light hit your face just right
The way your eyes softened around huge trees
The slight stiffness in your posture when someone raised their voice
And he adjusted - his naturally teasing tone dipped into something gentler around you
He gave you space, but started showing up with small comforts
He gifts you light blue hair ties for when you have aerial practices
Soft praises that are only whispered to you
"You got this."
"I love that shirt you're wearing, really brings out your eyes."
"You're so kind and caring, don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
The confession came one late afternoon, after you finished helping children after a heroic battle
You were covered in dirt and dust, hair a mess, and heart full
Keigo landed beside you as the sun dipped behind the trees
He watched the way you stared up at them, and in a flurry of red feathers and wind, you were swept up into his arms
"Keigo! Where are we going?"
"Somewhere you'd love, of course!"
He flew you to a forest full of large, tall trees
He watched the way you stared up at them, quiet awe on your face
"I think I'm in love with you." He spoke up suddenly
You blinked, and he continued, "You make me want to slow down. You make me want... Something real."
You bit your bottom lip, cheeks warm, "I think I'm in love with you, too."
He kissed you tenderly, a little unsure, but full of love and hope
Dating Keigo means quiet mornings, fun afternoons, and nights filled with stargazing and wing-wrapped cuddles
He's still Hawks to the world, but he's Keigo behind closed doors, and completely yours - softer and utterly smitten
He's obsessed with your aerial talents
Will watch every practice or show you may do
You buy him new gloves when his old ones wear out
He writes cheesy notes on post-its and sticks them to your water bottle, mirror, or even your pillow
You help him stretch after missions, fingers gliding over tense muscles and feathers, his breath hitching every time
Will massage your poor muscles after your practice
He makes you breakfast in bed almost every morning
You fall asleep on his chest during movie nights, and he wraps a wing around you like a weighted blanket
You fall into a quiet routine: morning tea, shared skies, soft smiles that say 'I’m glad you’re here'
Picnic dates under the shade of large trees
He speaks more softly to you; he never raises his voice, ever
Loves getting you new baggy clothes you'd love
(And loves whenever you wear his clothes)
You patch up his wounds after battles
~~~
Spider-Verse;
Johnathon Ohnn -
You were assigned as Johnathon Ohnn's assistant at Alchemax, meant to help organize his files, assist in lab work, and, unknowingly, become the only person who actually treated him like a person rather than just another awkward genius tucked away in a lab
He was clumsy, mumbling to himself, constantly misplacing pens, and wearing mismatched colorful socks - yet he'd light up when explaining particle theory or a new hypothesis
You found his rambling charming and his enthusiasm endearing
You never laughed at him - only smiled when his ideas sparked something extraordinary
He noticed how expressive and emotionally vibrant you were, how you could joke and be spontaneous and tease him without it ever feeling mean
You noticed how gentle he was behind the mask of disheveled professionalism
He once told you, "You make the lab less... Stifling, y'know?"
Before his transformation, you were his favorite part of the day
While others ignored his ramblings, you listened, even leaned into them
You'd bring him snacks
(He never remembered to eat)
You'd organize his desk, and leave sticky notes with small reminders and doodles
He'd shyly bring you coffee every morning
You got him to actually do a few stretches to help him after sitting at his desk and at his computer for hours
You’d talk about trees, colors, song lyrics - he found the way you described the world intoxicating
Johnathon fell slowly, then all at once, when you brought him to a park and pointed out a massive tree that made you tear up because of how peaceful it made you feel
He watched you instead of the tree, awestruck
After the accident, everything changed - and so did he
The first time he appeared in front of you as The Spot, he panicked
“I, uh… It’s me. Johnathon. Surprise."
You didn’t scream
You didn’t run
You looked at him with trembling awe and whispered, “You’re still you.”
That broke him
He had to sit down - or rather, collapse into a swirling portal of awkward emotion
Your presence remained his anchor
You talked to him like you always had
Teased him
Touched his arm like it still had his usual skin
He started showing up at random places through little portals just to be near you
Bringing you small things: a sketch of you he drew with shaky hands, your favorite snack from a place halfway across the city, a flower he risked ripping a hole in the universe to get
You started feeling it too - this slow-burning ache for the man you once worked beside… And now couldn't imagine life without
There was this silent understanding even before the accident, just neither of you said anything or did anything about it
But now, that overwhelming longer had reached its peaks
You were all for starting something new with him
But Johnny... He...
"I'm not... Human anymore. I'm all spots and- and I don't even have a face!"
“You’re still you, Johnathon. You’re kind, brilliant, and awkward, and you’ve never made me feel unsafe. That's got to count for something, doesn't it?"
You looked at him, teary-eyed, and leaned in, kissing just near one of the “spots” on his face
He didn’t breathe for a full minute
Your love is a soft, slow-dancing anomaly in the fabric of space
He’s a mess of limbs, portals, and endless insecurity
But you choose him
Every day
He somehow knows when you're upset and will portal over to you
He often traces your freckles and moles with his fingers
You curl up under massive tree canopies together
He opens a portal above the tallest one in the world, just so you can look up and feel peace without fear
You sketch together
Baking together, even though he can’t eat much
You never flinch, never look away
You remind him that he's more than what he has become
(Maybe it was your love that actually stopped Johnny from going into villain mode)
“You’re still you. You’re still my Johnathon.”

Yevette Heiser - Shares Expert Photography Tips to Elevate Your Smartphone Images
Smartphone photography has come a long way, allowing everyday users to capture professional-quality photos with just a device in their pocket. But how can you take your smartphone images to the next level? According to renowned photographer Yevette Heiser, it's all about mastering key photography techniques. Here, Yevette reveals how small adjustments can make a huge difference in your smartphone photography game.

1. Understand Lighting for Stunning Photos
One of the most important factors in photography is lighting, and this is no different when shooting with your smartphone. Yevette emphasizes the significance of natural light. "Natural light helps to capture the true colors and textures of your subjects," she says. For optimal results, shoot during the golden hours — early morning or late afternoon — when the light is softer and more flattering. Additionally, she advises avoiding harsh midday sunlight, which can create unwanted shadows and overexposed highlights.
For indoor shoots, positioning your subject near windows or soft light sources like lamps will also produce beautiful results. If you're shooting at night or in low-light conditions, consider using your phone’s built-in night mode or experimenting with external lighting sources such as ring lights.
2. Focus on Composition
Composition is key to any successful photo, and Yevette Heiser encourages smartphone photographers to pay close attention to how they frame their shots. The rule of thirds is one of the simplest and most effective composition techniques she suggests. To apply this rule, imagine dividing your frame into three equal horizontal and vertical sections. Place the subject of your photo along these lines or at their intersections for a balanced and engaging image.
Another useful tip from Yevette is to experiment with different perspectives. Instead of always shooting at eye level, try different angles like from above or below the subject. This can give your photos a unique and dynamic feel.
3. Use Your Smartphone's Manual Settings
While most smartphone cameras offer automatic settings, Yevette Heiser advocates for taking control of the manual settings to create more personalized, high-quality shots. Many modern smartphones allow users to adjust aspects like exposure, ISO, white balance, and focus manually. This can result in more creative control and help you capture the perfect shot in any situation.
For instance, by manually adjusting the exposure, you can avoid overly dark or bright areas in your photo. Adjusting the ISO can also help reduce noise in low-light conditions. Yevette recommends experimenting with these settings to understand how each element affects your final image.
4. Editing is Key to the Final Touch
Once you’ve captured your photos, Yevette suggests spending some time editing them to bring out their best features. While it's tempting to rely on filters, she emphasizes the importance of fine-tuning adjustments like contrast, brightness, and saturation to enhance your image while keeping it natural.
Editing apps like Lightroom or Snapseed are popular among smartphone photographers because of their advanced features. Yevette advises using these apps to sharpen details, correct colors, and remove any distractions from your image. A little editing can turn a good photo into a great one.
5. Experiment and Practice Regularly
Finally, Yevette Heiser stresses the importance of practicing and experimenting with different techniques. “The more you practice, the more you'll discover what works for you,” she explains. Whether it’s playing with different lighting setups, trying out new angles, or experimenting with editing tools, constant experimentation helps you develop your own unique style as a photographer.
Conclusion
In summary, Yevette Heiser - Reveals How Photography Techniques Can Elevate Your Smartphone Images by focusing on understanding light, mastering composition, using manual settings, and refining your images with editing. By following these expert techniques, you’ll be well on your way to creating stunning, professional-looking photos with nothing more than your smartphone. Remember, practice is key, so keep experimenting and have fun capturing the world around you in beautiful new ways.

wail the siren incorrect quotes. 😭
Keef: *about Zim and Dib* They make a cute couple, huh? Skoodge: They certainly are standing next to each other.
Zim: Look at me straight in the eyes and tell me the truth, Dib!
Dib: You can’t expect me to look into your eyes and be straight.
Dib: The stars are so beautiful...
Zim: They're just giant balls of gas.
Dib: You know what, if you're just going to ruin this, then-
Zim: And yet none of them are as huge as my love for you.
Dib: Oh...

Keef: Why do you look like that? Zim, laying face-first on the floor: Like what? Keef: Like you’re dead. Zim: It’s because I’m dying. Leave me here to perish. Skoodge: Zim accidentally called Dib “babe” in front of everyone today. Zim: *sobs into the floor*
Keef: *sees Dib and Zim together* Keef: They're cute. I would put them on a boat. Skoodge: You mean... you ship them?
Gaz: I don't need to go to bed. I'm not tired, I'll be fine. Tak: But, darling, I'll be so lonely without you. Come curl up in my arms so I can feel whole again. Gaz: O-oh. Well. Are you trying to seduce me into healthy sleeping patterns?? Tak: Is it working?
Gaz: Since we're in a relationship now, your clothes are my clothes too. Don't ask me why I have your shirt on, this is our shirt. Tak: Fine, but when I come strutting in with your fuzzy socks I don't want to hear shit.
Tak: I’m in love with you. Gaz: We called off the prank war last night at midnight, dork. Tak: I know. Gaz: Ah. Okay. Um. Cool. Neat. Very cool. Cool. Cool. Coolcoolcool-
Tak: Fight me! Gaz: *gets on one knee and pulls out a ring* Gaz: Fight me for the rest of our lives.

Tenn : Are you sure Keef’s going to be able to handle that IKEA furniture? They’re not very good with technical stuff… Skoodge: Why are you worried? IKEA was never complicated; these days, it’s even easier! Everything’s color coded, numbered, and there’s even an assembly robot option to make it even easier for Keef, which we’ve obviously opted in for. All they need to do is press the clearly labeled ON button, scan the QR code on the front of the box, and it’ll take care of the rest. Even a monkey could do it! *Skoodge’s phone rings* Keef: Hey, so I’m at Lowes… Tenn : … Tenn : I should have gone with the monkey.

Zim: Dib kissed me! Keef : Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Zim: It was unbelievable! Keef : Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! Skoodge : Okay, we wanna hear everything. Keef , get the wine and unplug the phone. Zim, does this end well or do we need tissues? Zim: Oh, it ended very well. Keef : Do not start without me! Do not start without me! Skoodge : Okay, alright, let’s hear about the kiss. Was it a soft brush against your lips or was it like a, you know, “I gotta have you now” kind of thing? Zim: Well, at first it was really intense, you know? And then, oh God, and then we just sort of sunk into it. Skoodge : Ohh... So, okay, were they holding you? Or were their hands on your back? Zim: First they started out on my waist and then they slid up and then they were in my hair. Keef and Skoodge: Ohhh. *meanwhile* Dib eating pizza in their house: And, uh, and then I kissed them. Tenn: Tongue? Dib: Yeah. Gaz : Cool.

Keef : What time is it? Skoodge : I don’t know; pass me that saxophone and we’ll find out Skoodge : *Plays sax loudly and extremely out of tune* Tenn: WHO THE FUCK IS PLAYING THE SAXOPHONE AT TWO IN THE MORNING Skoodge : It’s 2 am

Mimi: You know, I'm starting to regret showing you how that blender works. Gir, drinking toast: Why do you say that?
Zim, tending to Dib's wounds: How would you rate your pain? Dib: Zero stars. Would NOT recommend.

Dib: Crushes are the worst. Whenever I’m near mine, I start acting stupid.
Zim: You always act stupid.
Zim: Wait.

Zim: Goodnight to the love of my life, Dib, and fuck the rest of y'all.

Gaz about Dib: he’s going to go jump in the water and cry now.

this is the only social media website where I feel like I can talk about this without getting hated by teenagers with no media literacy, but I watched (pirated) Hazbin Hotel. And while I'm still very critical of Viv herself and the decisions she's made about her staff and her public statements and her past actions, some of which are very gross, for what it's worth, I think Hazbin is alright.
There are things I'd do differently sure, but it's like... aggressively average. The music is hit or miss, with mostly catchy tunes accompanied by lyrics that often made me cringe a little by how they already feel like outdated references to current slang. I also really don't enjoy when they have a big musical number come out of nowhere and have other characters acknowledge that they're singing. It really takes away from the musical numbers themselves. it's like musical writing 101 to NOT do that.
I know this is something people tend to criticize, but I'll be honest I like most of the character designs. They have fairly distinct silhouettes and it's kinda what drew me in enough to watch it in the first place. I'm particularly fond of Nifty. I do think some of them are a bit too complex, too busy to be super appealing, and must be hell to animate. I also think there's not really much cohesion in character designs of the world other than color, and even that's a stretch. I wish we'd at least been given some sort of reason in the show that some demons are furries and others aren't.
The animation is pretty nice, though the camera movement tends to make it a bit hard for my eyes to focus when there's a lot going on.
I've seen a lot of people complain about the pacing and while I agree that things are moving too fast, that we need time to get to know these characters and this world and earn these, what are supposed to be, hard hitting moments. I also acknowledge that I like fast pacing. I want it to slow down, but not astronomically, just a smidge.
I'd say the writing is also hit or miss. Sometimes it's got me fairly entertained, but other times it's making me uncomfortable and not on purpose. Again, slang that will quickly become or already is irrelevant is a major issue for me.
Contrary to what I've seen many people saying, I actually thought episode 4 was handled decently enough. Honestly the pacing is really the only thing holding it back for me. It doesn't feel like it's glorifying or romanticizing sexual abuse or domestic violence. It frames Valentino as the abuser he is when it's most important, even when he is a bumbling idiot in other scenes. Scenes of abuse between angel and Val are taken seriously enough. I wasn't a huge fan of the song Poison, but I also don't think it's romanticizing SA. I mean it literally ends with Angel sobbing on the floor so... I dunno how anyone came to that conclusion. There are times when the show jokes about sexual assault which I do think is distasteful and is one of my gripes with the writing overall, however when it comes to the topic of angel and val, it's handled well enough.
I'm interested in seeing where the plot goes with how episode 6 ended even with it's flaws. It's going in an interesting direction so far and I think the music of that episode was pretty good, calling back to the first episode's song with Adam in a clever way.
So overall I'd give Hazbin like a 6/10. It's fine, but it's got flaws. I'd like to see the kinks ironed out in season 2 and have Viv acknowledge some of her mistakes or at least take criticism well for once.
Anyway, stan Nifty, she's best girl.
#hazbin hotel#vivziepop critical#tv review#Also I'd like to clarify for anyone that does wanna say I'm invalidating the SA survivors that dislike episode 4#Your allowed to dislike it#If it's triggering that's totally valid#While I haven't experienced exactly what angel is going through#I have been manipulated and I was sexually asulted#though mine was a 1 time thing and also in a medical setting#so pretty different#Point being#Not every SA survivor is gonna feel the same way about it#It's okay to not like the show#But let others find comfort in it's portrayal of Angel as a victim because they might just relate to it#It's okay to depict victims that aren't perfect#Peace out yall

@technicallycleverdetective here's the IKEA! Jance version <3
8: what happens if one of them gets sick?
Nace is a natural caretaker so he'd be running back and forth doing whatever it takes to make Jan feel better. He'll cook soup, take Jan's temperature and stay with him until he falls asleep.
Jan himself isn't used to having to take care of other people but if Nace is sick, he'll make sure that his boyfriend doesn't try to do everything himself. He'll keep Nace stuck in bed by immobilizing him with blankets (+Igor and Ollie) and take care of whatever errands Nace was supposed to do that day
11: do they try to hide their emotions if upset?
I do think that would be a bit of a struggle, at least in the beginning of the relationship. Jan already isn't the type of person to open up easily while Nace struggles with feeling safe enough to be vulnerable. They're very considerate of each other tho and they don't pressure the other into talking about their feelings if it's too soon
12: do they have many heated arguments? How do they smooth things over?
This is a lill spoilery because there will be a chapter containing an argument and I don't wanna spoil their way of handling it yet haha But in general, no. Jan is extremely careful not to escalate arguments into fights and Nace is conflict avoidant so a huge fight is unlikely to occur
15: do they always say I love you before leaving?
They're the type of couple to use love confessions more sparingly so I don't see them saying it every time before leaving. Actions are a more meaningful way of showing love to both of them than words anyways
17: who's more likely to pull the other in by the waist and kiss them passionately?
Neither are very likely to do this as they enjoy casual intimacy and don't do big dramatic acts of affection. But I can see Nace picking Jan up in an enthusiastic bear hug and giving him a lill kiss <3
20: choose one song that perfectly describes their relationship
Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby-Cigarettes After Sex (the vibes are very much IKEA Jance)
Nothing's gonna hurt you, baby As long as you're with me, you'll be just fine🎶
22: what reminds them of each other?
Jan: Djungelskog/teddy bears in general and the color purple Nace: leather jackets and cats <3
36: who's most likely to fire up the stove at 2AM because the other is hungry
Nace <3 Jan finds it difficult to take care of himself sometimes so it wouldn't be uncommon for him to go to bed on an empty stomach only for Nace to make him some food once he's awoken by Jan's stomach growling
41: which one would take off their jacket and drape it over the other's shoulders?
Jan has the tendency to assume that he'll be fine wearing just a leather jacket instead of a coat lol. Nace will always share his scarf and jacket with him <3
44: who would dance in the kitchen making dinner?
I think they'd dance together :D Cooking is supposed to be kind of a silly relaxing moment for them so if a good tune comes on they'll each do their own groovy moves lol
51: what's a non verbal way they say I love you?
Jan comes to visit Nace at work often to give him kind of a break from an occasionally stressful day which allows Nace to snap out of customer service mode if only for a few minutes. Also he'll take small plain snacks with him in his pocket whenever they go out in case it's hard to find some place to eat
Nace is already very attentive in their day to day life, but if Jan is struggling through a depressive episode, he's got his full attention on his boyfriend. He'll wash Jan's hair when he can't find the energy to do it himself and he'll motivate Jan to go outside at least a few minutes a day. He'll just show Jan even more love than usual and reassures him that he'll stick around even when Jan isn't doing too good mentally
55: do they like watching clouds or star gazing?
They're more into cloud watching <3 They'd definitely point out weird cloud shapes to each other haha
60: who pulls the other closer when they're sleeping?
Jan finds Nace to be super cuddly so he often can't resist just squeezing his big teddy bear against his body. Nace tends to get overheated easily at night tho so the squishing might be met with a dissatisfied whine 😅

Fucking Fuckery
Hi to all, As said when my computer broke "by magic" last Friday, I can't work on photo anymore (except with a camera ? Well there's also something - nevermind) nor post on sites with images that appear with ten levels of overexposure and all colors pale as an ass that hasn't seen the sun for 20 years on this fucking Hewlett Packard.
Artists working on Microsoft, if you have this problem and you keep these shitty comps, YOU have a problem. This is valid for galerists, museum staffs, art journalists, etc. Gates has created a sick world which is clearly NOT for us, in spite of his permanent "philanthropic" declarations - and this will take you to one of my last French texts about another "huge philanthrope". This computer stuff is literally unbearable as it's available - not available - I understand myself and the interested too. What is the panorama of my websites ?
-Instagram : Has been unavailable because of a technical problem since November 2 021. 500 followers lost, you know, when someone is not here anymore even if somewhere else, people act like that. I'd never think of doing this, but people are people. -YWAMag Fb : unavailable, as our shared Fb with Anne, which was largely used for the Fb Choice of the Day of the mag, since Anne's kidnapping (August 2 021). Yes she's free now, but the boxes are full of forced prostitution stuff and she refuses that I see this. -YWAMag Tumblr : unavailable since a technical change by Tumblr (last September). I don't know, as explained there, how to change the template that Anne had installed, and she's not able to do this for the moment. Anyway what will the mag be with about 50 of the best photographers of the mag having been clients of Anne as a forced prostitute, the gang's goal in this field being to destroy the mag ?
-Flickr : fine, just waiting for my computer to be gotten back -My Fb : writing, information, shared art, etc. Don't go there if you hate facts and are a collaborationnist with zero desire of getting out of your psychosis.
-Twitter or X : same as my personal Fb, though, not very used except on some periods as the current one, but always essential informations in several languages. Very few personal posts by me. Again, not interesting for collaborationnists.
-My Lens Culture : currently unfed but you have a part of my bio (half of the photo one), reduced by half by the staff without consent
-My Cargo Collective : a high level selection of my photo work, stopped ten years ago. I was more spectacular and accessible then.
Brilliant text about me by David Gibb Smeaton
-My Fine Art America : again, a collection (larger than the Cargo one) which is more spectacular than my latest production. Published between 2 013 and 2 014, for works (or photos, call them as you want, it doesn't matter) between 2 011 and 2 014, which is to say the start of my pro photo career.
The site is sale cheat - contact me for prints, not the site. Because, yes, I sell photos outside the exhibitions, I love and need it. -My YouTube : gathers a collection of the tunes broadcasted on my sites for years, currently about 700 songs or pieces. A single look by the shitheads who say I'd be "racist" and "anti-Semitic" to these collections should calm them - or not, we're speaking about fanatics -Our ISSUU : some of the mag's interviews, plus some before the mag - Graphic design Anne Pangolin Guéno under my supervising
Thus, this Tumblr, which is the only one technically available as long as I don't get my computer back (another technical reason linked to a mailbox), has become a writing one. I'm hoping to get it back, but when the fucking fuck ? And little by little put the texts on my main Tumblr so that this one is "lemmings' adapted". Indeed this 2nd Tumblr has for only goal to be a nice, ideas-free, truth-free cocoon for lemmings. I care for lemmings. They are nice. Or not. Basile Pesso, Land of Somewhere, 11 July 2 024 The Beatles, Get Back Modification 28/08/2 024 : 1. No forced prostitution, nothing of the kind. It was a strategy. The facts are about paedo-satanism, Anne having been hostage. I'll tell more later. 2. Lens Culture bio fine again now. As said in French on Fb a few days ago, thanks.

Finally got these guys' official refs done(technically finished this the other day, but didn't have time to upload before work)! :D After first sketching their concepts a few months ago(minus Zaira, who was already made), I finally got around to figuring out everyone's colors and especially in the boys' cases, their personalities and such!
I hope you like them! ^w^ Here is all of their bios again, just-in-case!
================================================
- Zaira Oldest child and daughter of Mai and Callum. She's a kind of awkward and nerdy girl, but she is very passionate with a big heart and energetic nature when she's in her element. She has some slight healing powers as inherited from her dad, Callum, though is nowhere near his level of power. In terms of regular talent though she can play the saxophone, specifically tenor sax, as she's a pretty prominent member of her school's marching, wind ensemble, and jazz bands. Despite her more Chinese heritage, even if she herself is only a 1/4 Chinese, she's actually a huge fan of Japanese culture. She's a bit of an otaku in that aspect, having gone to quite a few anime and cosplay conventions, with her favorite manga/anime being Sailor Moon. Aside from her siblings she is quite close with her cousins too, especially Vera as they have similar interests in magical girl and romance animes and often go to conventions together. - Hannah Second child and daughter of Mai and Callum. She is a kind-hearted and total firecracker of a girl, who always tries to help out with any problems but tends to get in more trouble with her reckless nature and random powers. These powers are inherited from Callum, being luck-based but more random, with her also being able to summon things that can be helpful in whatever situations she is in. She is a very outgoing and honest person, always up for a fun adventure, but she is not without her own insecurities. As a younger child a lot of them were centered around her dyslexia, as she had a lot of reading and learning difficulties that made it hard for her to feel like she was on an even learning field with her peers. Though she has received plenty of tutoring and help since her diagnosis to perform better than she had before, there are still moments where she struggles and feels like she can't measure up to her classmates' levels. - Porter Third child and oldest son of Mai and Callum. The only child seemingly without any sort of powers, but he tries not to dwell on that fact too much. Comes off as the most responsible and "sane" one of his siblings, often acting as the voice of reason that tries to pull them back when they go to far with something. Generally regarded as a good, studious "golden child" by his peers and adults alike, but truth be told he has a quiet wild and rebellious side deep down. Always bottles up his more negative feelings inside, causing him to come off as quite scary when he finally does unleash his emotions. Gets along greatly with his "Aunt" Alana, as she also knows what he goes through is like and often encourages him to just be his own best self. Perpetually exasperated by his cousin Korey's antics, often having to calm himself from starting a fight when all the cousins are hanging out together. - Westley "Wes" Youngest child and son of Mai and Callum. Being the youngest in the family and quite sickly as a child, he was often coddled growing up which has caused him to become quite an anxious young lad. He is more of a people-pleaser and always craves other peoples' approval, becoming so stressed out when things aren't going good and often forgets to advocate for his own interests. He has learned overtime how to relax and take care of himself, primarily getting a lot of his thoughts out through journaling and creative writing. He has inherited his mom's love-sensing abilities, having a fine-tuned and almost psychic ability to know when love is around or notice the slightest of change in someone's love. Often gets roped into shenanigans with his sisters as they try to use their powers together to help people, and his cousin Vera as she finds his useful for her match-making. Ironically for him, despite have love powers he has no interested in romance for himself, identifying as ace.

Tired of Dropping Picks Mid-Song? Here’s How to Find a Guitar Pick with Better Grip, Balance, and Feel
Every guitarist—whether performing on stage or jamming at home—has experienced the moment of panic when their pick suddenly slips from their fingers mid-song. One second, you’re immersed in rhythm or a solo; the next, your pick is flying into the crowd or lost in a carpet. It disrupts your flow, affects your performance, and can even chip away at your confidence. The good news? Dropping picks doesn’t have to be a recurring problem. In fact, the issue often stems from using the wrong type of pick—one that lacks proper grip, feel, or weight distribution. That’s where custom made guitar picks from Pick World come in—designed to deliver the grip, balance, and personal touch every guitarist needs to play their best.
Grip Starts with the Right Material
The surface texture and material of your pick plays a huge role in how securely it stays in your hand. Smooth plastic picks often feel great initially, but under heat and sweat, they can turn slick—especially under stage lights or intense practice. That’s why celluloid remains a go-to material for many guitarists. It offers just the right amount of grip without feeling sticky or abrasive. At Pick World, celluloid picks are available in an array of finishes—glossy, matte, and marbleized—that let you find the feel that fits your best. Other textured materials, like Delrin or specialty rubberized surfaces, are also popular for players who need added grip.
Shape and Size: Designed for Control
Grip is about more than just the surface material—the shape and size of your pick directly impact your control. Smaller jazz-style picks are often used for speed and precision but can be harder to grip if your hand tends to sweat. On the other hand, larger triangle or standard 351-style picks give more surface area for your fingers to grab onto, reducing the chance of accidental slips.
At Pick World, you can choose from a wide variety of pick shapes including:
Standard 351
Teardrop
Jazz
Triangle
Shark fin
Custom die-cut shapes
This range ensures you can find a size that not only complements your playing technique but also fits comfortably and securely in your hand. The pick you choose should match the natural motion of your playing—whether it's aggressive strumming, fast picking, or subtle fingerstyle articulation.
Thickness and Balance: A Pick That Feels Right
Weight and thickness affect how your pick responds to your grip. A pick that’s too thin might bend too easily, making it hard to maintain pressure. A pick that’s too thick might feel bulky or heavy, especially during fast passages. Pick World offers picks ranging from extra thin (0.38 mm) to extra heavy (1.52 mm), giving players the ability to fine-tune their playing experience. Medium picks often offer the best of both worlds—some flexibility with enough stiffness for accurate control. But what really matters is how balanced the pick feels between your fingers. Proper balance reduces the need to over-grip, which in turn decreases hand fatigue and the likelihood of dropping the pick.
Texture and Personal Touch: You’re Pick, Your Way
In 2025, guitar picks aren’t just tools—they’re personal. Customization is no longer reserved for pros with endorsement deals. Every guitarist deserves a pick that feels unique. One of the best ways to enhance grip is by adding texture or print directly to the pick’s surface. Logos, names, band designs—even light surface printing—can actually improve tactile feedback while playing. At Pick World, our custom imprinting services let you personalize every detail of your pick, from the font and color to the placement of your artwork. And because the picks are printed in-house in the USA, you can expect fast turnaround and consistently high quality.
Pick Packs and Variety: Finding Your Fit
You don’t have to commit to one pick right away. Many players discover their ideal grip and feel through variety packs—something Pick World makes easy with bulk and combo options. Try out multiple shapes, sizes, materials, and thicknesses to see which ones suit your playing best.
Performance-Ready Picks for All Players
Whether you're performing live, recording in the studio, or just practicing at home, a high-quality pick with the right grip gives you peace of mind. You shouldn't have to think about your pick once it’s in your hand—it should just work. That’s the philosophy behind every product at Pick World.
