'forgive my intrusion' and platitudes and subservience from a small being appearing at your side that needles their way into your psyche until you agree, and by then they're a giant and you're a small being in the palm of their hand. and then they crush you.

SU Future unironically goes hard in most episodes and it's a shame that it's panned by both rantsona antiwoke youtubers AND by online gays for being "for cringe white shitlib tenderqueers (unlike me, I watch black sails)"

it's sooo effective in what it does. I'm not going to pretend it's the most hardcore emotionally gritty media out there, it's still a colorful musical cartoon for a target audience of middle schoolers, but it pushes the tonal boundaries of that medium about as far as is possible, maybe more, I straight up don't know how rebecca sugar got the go ahead for half of those episodes. hey kids, do you wanna see your beloved protagonist try to make amends with his late mother's abuse victim, get diagnosed with pstd, fall out with all of his friends and parental figures, accidentally kill someone, and have a four episode long complete emotional breakdown with psychotic features as he spirals into believing he's beyond help? so do we! it's even got a character leitmotif that gets more distorted as the character it symbolizes deteriorates!
