What To Do When It Happens
Tumblr media
Write it down. The date. The time. What they said. What you said. What you couldn’t. This isn’t overreacting. It’s documenting.
Tell someone you trust. Not the one who explains it away. The one who believes you.
Save everything. Emails, DMs, texts. Rename the folder something boring.
Find the policy. It’s probably buried under “Respect in the Workplace.” Highlight it like your job depends on it—because it might.
Pay attention to what happens next. The silence. The cold shoulder. The missed invites. That counts too.
If it gets worse, you're not imagining it. Retaliation is common. It’s also illegal.
Don’t quit just to make it stop. Not before you talk to someone. A lawyer. A hotline. A friend who’s been there.
Crying in the bathroom is not unprofessional. Neither is dissociating. Nor surviving.
It’s okay to stay. It’s okay to leave. Either way, you’re strong.
What happened to you matters. Even if you stayed quiet. Even if you laughed. Even if you stayed quiet for a long, long, time.
NOTE: I wrote this on paper first (pic above) but realised my handwriting is mostly indecipherable trash. Didn't want to put you through that. Also, can people born after 2000 even read cursive nowadays? I truly have no idea.

a small reminder that...
...not every problem can be solved instantly.
...not every problem is real.
...not every problem is a roadblock.
some problems can be temporary. others can be based on our assumptions, while some can be a blessing in disguise.
take a deep breath. you've got this ✨

It would be hilarious that my fully grown coworkers a decade older than me are talking shit about me if it didn’t also hurt my feelings

I'm so goddamn sick and tired of people asking me "are you okay???", "you can tell us anything if somethings wrong" at work.
Like, fuck no lol. First off, I'm just relaxing my face and I guess I just look pissed off/sad when I do that (which I suppose I am but that's none of their business)
Second of all, if I was actually honest about the fact I'm having an utter identity crisis, that I'm severely depressed, that I drink to cope basically every night, that I can't come out of the closet right now, that I feel like an utter goddamn failure in just about every aspect of my life...None of these stupid fucks would either know how to handle that or just look at me as the insane fuck I actually am.
Can we normalize leaving people the hell alone sometimes? It's fake as shit anyway when it comes to REAL mental health issues, so stfu and let me do my goddamn job.

I need to talk about the oven at work. It's been "fixed," like, ten times in the past month, but this time they have to fix it for real.
It was going strong for about two weeks, and I thought we were in the clear. Then there I was at my little prep table, doing my thing. I turned around to see how much time was left on the baked goods in the oven.
The set temp was 350 (this is in Fahrenheit, btw). The temp in the oven read 319.
Okay. That's a problem, but this is what it was doing before. All I have to do is turn it off and turn it back, and it'll slowly start to climb back up. The manager happens to be passing by. I inform him that the oven is doing The Thing again, and he goes off to tell whoever. All is well.
Or, so I thought until the temp continued to drop. 306. 280. Staying around 280 for a while.
Guys, there were a couple dozen cookies in there. And, some muffins. I had to pull out the cookies before the muffins. I just timed it and pulled the cookies out as fast I cook to keep as much heat in the oven as possible so the muffins could finish baking.
The manager saw the problem, made an "oh shit" face, and told me to do my best while he went off to tell whoever the gravity of the situation.
I hadn't baked a single bagel or loaf of bread yet. And, I knew that when I steamed that dough, the temp was gonna drop even more. And, I knew it wouldn't climb back up this time.
In maybe half an hour, the temp had dropped from 350 to 262. I knew it was hopeless, and the manager reluctantly agreed.
I pulled all the dough out of the proofer and stuck it in the cooler. The manager said they would (hopefully) bake it all before we opened in the morning. And, that they would save the leftovers and collect the leftovers from nearby Paneras for the next day. I ended up going home early because after putting the finishing touches on the pastries (which I was able to bake all of) and cleaning up, there was really nothing left for me to do.
I had never been so happy to have the next two days off. Pray for me that the oven works on Wednesday.🙏🍞

I don't know whether to be proud of this or feel called out. A guy at work asked if I knew where the nearest gay bar was...
This guy guessed I was gay(not wrong but I live in the midwest and people are dumb) and immediately assumed I had the money to drink🤣🤣🤣

So if your manager
Threatens to cut people’s hours for not reaching production goals
Calls someone the R word behind their back
Calls someone a “stupid b-word” under their breath
Tells a kid to go home and not bother working just because he showed up late even though he talked to them about the reason why he’d be coming in late, thus causing the store to be understaffed on its busiest day
Actually does cut people’s hours
Puts the list of people not reaching their goals on the bulletin board for everyone to see
Doesn’t go over the monthly safety protocol but just has everyone sign the form saying they understand it even though it was literally never demonstrated
Do you think that’s reason enough to go to HR?

So, I pissed off dispatch yesterday.
I work as a public transit driver in a rural area. We are a door to door service, but we aren't a cab service because we can pick up multiple passengers heading in the same direction.
A single driver can drive a minimum 200 miles a day. Because of this, each driver is assigned a walkie to stay in communication with dispatch. However, the walkies are pretty much hot mics, the passengers can also hear everything that is said over the walkies because we aren't given any ear pieces to keep the walkie discussions between driver and dispatch only. Ear pieces would also make communication a bit more hands-free, but what do I know, I'm just a driver, and that's not the real issue of this post.
Yesterday was a particularly long day. They had me on the road for 9 hours, and I was only allowed one 10-minute break. Needless to say, when it came time for me to pick up my last passenger, I was cranky and hangry.
Each vehicle is assigned a tablet, and on those tablets, we can see each passenger we have to pick up along with their form of payment. This last one said he was paying with a physical punch card. The company had moved away from the physical punch card system long ago in favor of electronic payments. I've picked this passenger up before, and each time dispatch would tell me to just give him a ride. Last time, his ride was a 20-mile ride. For free? Cause he didn't have a physical punch card on him, so that ride was free, right?
Well, this time, I walkied to dispatch that his ride was again put in as a physical punch card, and all they told me was, "Thank you for letting us know, proceed with the ride." I'm thinking, everyone else has to pay for their rides, people who make way less money has to pay for their rides, and if they put their ride in as a physical punch card dispatch accuses them of lying because they just didn't have enough money in their account. But this guy who quite literally lives in a mini mansion on a lake can just keep getting free rides?! So, I ask, "Are we just going to keep giving him free rides?"
Apparently, he has an "agency" account, and he chooses to schedule his rides in the app. Then they have to go behind him later and manually bill his agency account.
I, of course, got an ear full later about discussing passenger accounts over the walkies. However, I didn't have any passengers on board at the time. So, the concern comes from the fact that other passengers on other vehicles could have heard. So, maybe if we had ear pieces, our walkies wouldn't be equivalent to a hot mic? Also, we wouldn't have to risk causing accidents every time we have to reach for said walkie. Again, what do I know, I'm just a driver.

im so serious when I say it should be illegal for jobs to post job positions, and then turn around to say they’re actually full. Like no, fuck you, do NOT go online and say “nobody wants to work!!!” actually they do you just want to make an excuse to get sympathy from people

(This is also posted on X)
Im ranting. Losing a lot of motivation due to my coworkers today. My colleague says a lot of demeaning things to me at how I work or do things.
We work things at our own pace right? Ig my colleague didnt like the way i did it :/ She gets "pissed off" and idk what i did wrong
I do customer service. I have my own way of greeting ppl and being nice to them. I can get things done fast. Sure I made mistakes, but colleague just didnt like how I do it apparently.
Super discouraging. Idk how i kept my smile up..
Sorry guys, it seems its been affecting my writing after all. I cant seem to focus when I let those discouraging thoughts affect my mind.
Any suggestions on what should I do to stop my colleague from doing this? Theyre subtle in saying those words, but I can sense its cruelty.
