Fun fact: empathy is a lie and you do not need it at all to be a good person or to help someone
#nothing really triggered this just thinking about it#I truly cannot stand the idea that without empathy you are bad#like I hate green olives and would vomit before eating one#and emotionally I think it’s completely wild anyone actually likes them#I don’t have empathy there. but I don’t need it to understand that people DO like them#and the rules to empathy are fucking stupid. first#you MUST have it. second#you must express it. third though#you must express it CORRECTLY otherwise it’s actually bad#and if you can’t empathize with a person it’s their fault#empathy hasn’t done shit for me because i understand that a person who is alive should be allowed to keep doing that#if only so they have the opportunity to try and do good#even if they cannot make up for the horrible things they’ve done in a million life times#a person should be allowed to try#(that doesn’t mean don’t through them in jail)#*throw#also people can be entirely selfish and do good. you can recognize that the only sustainable way to improve your life is by helping those#around you. like sometimes motives do matter#but that’s cause motives can affect outcome (if you do good to look good#not to help) and indicate future actions (if you murdered them in self defense#vs for fun)#in this way the emotional desire to punish someone is unhelpful as it does not better society in any way.#punishment should be to make up for a persons actions and prevent them from happening again.#alright I’m done moral ing or whatever

I have a funny headcanon about Snape's role within the DE circle.
Like, yeah he became a spy because he was really good at being stealthy and unremarkable but before that of course Lucius was talking to everybody about his potions skills. The guy was a malnourished greasy 17yo but also a fricking genius.
And ofc he made poisons or other stuff but my hc is that one of the thing he made consistently for the Dark Lord™ was... handcream.
Because of course old Tomy liked to look good and smell good and he had a handcream he used for years then it was discontinued and he was so pissed off (and everyone heard about it) and Severus made him a new one - even better - with the same fragrance and this is how he got noticed by the DL himself.
And when the Dark Lord™ came back... he made it again (and had to adjust the formula because his skin was different now) and it just cracks me up to imagine Dumbledore with a grave voice being like "So, Severus my boy, any news from your last meeting with Voldemort?" and Severus to be like "Lavender is now offensive to him, I need to find an adequate replacement." and Dumbledore being like "...what."

Obviously we all know this iconic scene:
Tumblr media
I’ve been thinking about it—and, more specifically, about the phrasing of “You were supposed to be a side effect of the drugs” & the significance of that statement from Andrew. He’s not saying “I thought you were…” or “You’re too good to be true,” and this statement isn’t coming from a place of wonder at Neil being real, nor is it just an attempt to deflect Neil’s care for him.
To me, everything hinges on the opening “You were supposed to be…” Andrew has spent years—arguably his whole life—learning how to protect himself, and life has taught him that the way to do that is to rely on himself alone, to not try to reach out to people. He has people he’ll protect, but even they aren’t people he feels willing/able to open up around (with the possible exception of Bee). That allows him to maintain control of the situation, to stay on top of things and handle whatever problems arise.
Neil has never been something Andrew can control. He’s always been a little too interested in Andrew, has refused to stop poking his nose into his business, has been pushy without ripping Andrew’s boundaries apart. He’s not under Andrew’s control, and that’s dangerous to how Andrew lives life—how many times did Andrew justify that to himself, explain away the fact that Neil seemed to care for him by telling himself that was the drugs affecting his perception, explain away the fact that he cared for Neil in return by saying that the drugs made him latch onto strange things, things he wouldn’t card about if he was off of them?
“You were supposed to be a side effect of the drugs” reads like Andrew realizing he can’t explain this away anymore. It’s uncertain, and a little bitter, a little accusatory. There’s a bit of dread in it, because caring about people is dangerous, and it only ever leads to pain and being disappointed, and caring about Neil? Neil caring about him? The idea that they could last? It’s a pipe dream. Neil, standing there and once again refusing to back down, is a pipe dream. And Andrew’s learned not to rely on them to come true.

I find that the recent rise of black and white thinking on the internet has led to an interesting phenomenon in F1 fandom spaces.
Nowadays a famous person needs to unsullied in all respects (morally, ethically, performatively) in order to be deemed unproblematic and worthy of support. It’s become impossible to be a fan of a driver and to recognise faults them in any way, because surely if you’re a fan of a driver and they mess up, then their mess up taints you in the same way it taints them (morally, ethically, performatively).
Putting drivers’ ethical “bad takes” aside, this has impacted even how fans respond to their driver simply having a bad weekend. It’s odd when a driver makes a human error or has a (even slightly) less successful weekend, and a significant proportion of their fans go into a panic and start finger pointing at anyone and everyone - the track, the team, the teammate, the stewards.
The false dichotomy here seems to be that either the driver has “lost his touch” or the driver was unfairly sabotaged or disadvantaged in some way.
It’s so strange. In the guise of supporting their favourite driver, these fans hold them up to an impossible standard where they are either bullied or washed.
In reality, their favourite driver is a human being and he’s going to pick himself up and go again next week.

For half a second, Edwin’s vision was filled with a beautiful, ethereal sight. Charles had turned his face up in surprise, eyes wide and lips parted, and his brown eyes reflected the cloud of golden shimmers hovering above him. He was bathed in a gentle light, surrounded by a galaxy of tiny stars.

this is one of my favourite fics (tied with every single other of their fics, of course!) that i recently gave a reread, and this description is so lovely that i just had to draw it <3

The Justice League, on their way back from a deep space mission that was incredibly successful, received a distress signal from a galaxy they’re passing through.
As they investigate, they learn that a colony of a planet has been wiped out. Completely.
Slowly they piece together that there is some being out there that had been terrorizing planets, starting with colonies and then eventually going after larger settlements and home planets.
The League also learns they are not the first people to learn of this foe, or try to come up with a solution to stop them.
The colony they are inspecting has researchers on it that had fled or escaped from other planets where they piled together all they knew about their enemy, and in an attempt to sift through the mountains of data they had collected, created a device.
If a person was connected to the device, they would mentally experience the number of years required to process the data and come up with an attack plan in seconds. What the researchers had needed was time, so they created it.
As the League pieces this together, Superman sees that there is a being approaching the remnants of the colony and the defense system alerts the “remaining colonists” of the imminent threat. Their failsafe boots up and takes the nearest person, in this case, Batman, who had been studying some of its programming, and activates.
The rest of the team didn’t have a chance to react before Batman blinks and is in motion, setting up machines and dictating code without lifting a finger.
There is no fight, because after the two seconds Bruce was in the machine he was a flurry of motion and the enemy was contained.
They ask him how long had passed for him in the machine. It takes him a full minute to respond.

Little bright colored outfit with a fun vest ~
(shoes from ebay like 10 years ago. everything else is thrifted)
#ootd#jfashion#fashion#fantasy fashion#mori kei#....like... adjacent... lol#no idea what style this would be lol.. makes me think of like whimsical vaguely fantasy themed childrens book character#finally posting one of my aforementioned seven million drafts of actual outfits and costumes i have finished and edited#the photos for but just never feel like posting lol..#I need to find one of those people whos like 'omg i am ADDICTED to social media ugh i wish i could get off of it#im just browsing and posting like 60 times a daaaaay!!!' and take a little magical bottle and suck some of the social media#enthusiasim out of them. for moi. In exchange they can have some of my 'literally just never in the mood to post or interact with the#outside world ever' energy. We can balance each other. huzzah and so on#Though I think maybe it's part of the general thing I've heard of like.. I can't remember if it was in reference to adhd or just some sort#of general execcutive functioning issue type of thing - but the idea that things have to be ''just right'' before you do something. like#'oh i need to do this task. but i have to wait until XYZ first' or 'oh i can do this but only if X specific condition is met' or etc#The fact that I even have to be in a Specific Mindset to post. or sometimes will delay posting on social media because like 'oh well#I'm going somewhere tomorrow. somehow this matters. i cannot spend 5 minuts posting TONIGHT. clearly it will interfere#somehow schedule wise with the doctor appointment i have 15 hours from now. yes. yes. i must wait until my appointment is over#tomorrow afternoon. THEN i shall post' or etc. etc. lol. NOT even taking into account the many days#I just genuinely and physically sick and it's not even a mental thing. I just physically dont feel like sitting at the computer lol..#ANYWAY.. trying to get back into it. trying to get a business bank account.. make a proper paypal so i can start selling sculptures again.#selling clothes and sculptures.. posting about such things then of course as one must. etc... chanting to hype up and motivate myself lol#But yes. this is my favorite outfit out of the bunch so I am posting it first I guess.. maybe others later..#Also the purple dress says its from shein. which I've heard is bad fast fashion stuff. but maybe okay since its second hand? I havent#been to the bins since like 2020 or late 2019 even. and I think stuff like shein and temu has only become poular in the past few years#but I bet if I went to the bins now I might would find a good handfull of that stuff. Probably now not much different than what you#find in a walmart or a forever 21 or actual physical stores you can go to though. I hear quality of clothing is down everywhere no matter#where you get it or whatnot. What bountiful joys unfettered capitalism and exploitation bestows upon us (<being sarcastic).#Wearing one of my favorite little vests though. I love the texture of it and the clasps on it

Any of the plants from Plants Vs. Zombies could kill MacBeth, since they are grown from seeds rather than being born. Additionally, certain plants (such as Cactus and Sunflower) are referred to with she/her pronouns in the Almanac, so they apply for the Gender Clause. And finally, the plants are planted by the player, so if the player is not female, then all of the plants qualify for the Birth Parent Clause (certain plants are planted by Crazy Dave, but he is a male, so they apply for the BPC regardless)
Also, I know it's not part of the curse, but Torchwood and Oak from PvZ: GW2 and PvZ: BfN, respectively, could be used to make Birnam Wood come to Dunsinane
Yes, Any Plant from Plants vs. Zombies could kill Macbeth!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As explained above, the plants in PvZ are grown from seed packets and not born, so they all apply for Unconventional Birth Clause. While some rare individual plants are specified to have been planted by Crazy Dave, for the most part, whether or not a plant applies for Birth Parent Clause relies entirely on the gender of the player, as you are the person planting them in-universe.
For Gender Clause, this is again mentioned above, but almost every plant has specified pronouns, usually in the in-game Almanac, though those that don't are often specified outside of the game by Stephen Notley, who writes the official Almanac entries. Most plants seem to be referred to with he/him pronouns and therefore wouldn't count for Gender Clause, but there are many such as Sunflower and Cactus that are she/her, as well as Dazey Chain who canonically uses they/them.
Thank you for your submission! -Mod Anthem
