The kind of person I'm referring to is an individual who is there for you under all circumstances, no matter how difficult. A gem like that is rare nowadays, so be grateful if you've found someone who TRULY knows what it means to be a friend! Having given my definition of "friend", I'll give you some dictionary definitions of this word in the next paragraph, InshaaAllah إن شاء الله (God willing).

It was narrated from Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever says, when he hears the mu’adhdhin: ‘Ash-hadu alla ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu wa anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa Rasuluhu, raditu billahi Rabban, wa bil-Islami dinan wa bi Muhammadin Rasula أشهد أن لا إله إلّا الله وحده لاشريك له وأنّ محمّدا عبده ورسوله رضيت بالله ربّا وبالإسلام دينا وبمحمّد رسولا (I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner or associate, and that Muhammad (SAWS) is His slave and Messenger; I am content with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion and Muhammad (SAWS) as my Messenger),’ his sins will be forgiven.”

She is our second madre ('mother' in Spanish) and our best comadre ('friend' in Spanish). She is our "queridita abuelita" ('darling grandma' in Spanish). Most of us see an ideal grandmother, as someone whom we can learn practical life lessons from. We envision a nice sweet old lady, who greets us with a vibrant smile, that stretches from ear to ear whenever we visit her. We may also think of an elderly woman, who can give us pertinent advice when we are faced with tough situations. These are just some of the characteristics which the perfect grandmother possesses.

Not long ago, one of my bosom buddies lost her maternal grandmother. This made me go back to 2003, when I lost my last surviving grandparent, Granny Bella (short for 'Isabella'). I didn't cry initially when she died, because we were not that close, but I knew I was going to miss her. About three years after her demise, I found myself weeping as I remembered the times I spent with her. Yes, I  finally let it out, and I was glad that I came to terms with it, Alhamdulillaah الْحَمْد لله (thanks to God). La vida es así ('life is like that' in Spanish), sometimes you cry years after the passing of someone who was dear to you. I guess some people grieve differently.

When I found out about the death of my friend's nana from my sister, she had already offered condolences to her and her family. I knew how she felt about her gram, so I wondered what I could do to comfort her. I came up with the idea of putting together special condolence e-cards in the form of a PDF book for her and her relatives, Alhamdulillaah الْحَمْد لله. Today, I would like to share those sympathy e-cards with readers who have recently lost their grandmother(s). I hope that these RIP messages help to chase away your blues, InshaaAllah إن شاء الله (God willing). Please cheer up! :)
