Sex with Hange had been amazing recently. Well, sex with Hange was always amazing, even if sometimes awkward, the awkwardness added to the sweet and tenderness of the moments. But it had been different as well. Hange had suddenly started suggesting more and more… erotic positions and adventures.
One day, out of the blue, Hange had proposed to Y/N that they eat her out while she sat on the kitchen table and them on the floor. They had really only kept their sexual activities to the bedroom before, maybe with the occasional tryst in the shower or the couch so it threw her off for a second. But being able to place her knees over Hange’s shoulders, with her thighs resting comfortably on their shoulders had brought her an orgasm so intense that she lost her hearing for a good 15 seconds at least. And that was only the beginning of Hange’s sexual schemes and Y/N’s complies with them.
Hange had also increased the variation of sex toys they possessed. Where once it was only a handful of different toys, that had the simple vibrating features, Hange had insisted on adding a few more “in the name of science” they had claimed. There was the addition of a small hand held toy that instead of vibrating, created a small suction sensation. That one had particularly drove Hange a bit insane as Y/N dutifully attended to her partner with it. She loved how it had caused their whole body to spasm with pleasure and wrap their thighs around her hand, mankind her wish it was her head instead.
That kind of train of though started to make Y/N miss her partner even more, as she pouted while cleaning up. Cleaning up was an overstatement, she was just tidying up so that later they could both do… other things.
Y/N took the stack of books and papers that had accumulated on majority of the surfaces in their house and took them into Hange’s office. Usually she didn't go into the office, mainly because she had no need to, but the papers were the grading papers for Hange’s students, and so she didn't want them to accidentally get ruined or lost. She knew all too well the stress of waiting for ones grade and not getting it because a professor had mistakenly lost your paper. When she did enter the office, the space was also a mess which caused Y/N to shake her head.
It wasn't her space so she didn't really care how Hange kept it as long as it was behind closed doors. She set the stack of papers on the messy desk, however in doing so, she accidentally had knocked a book off the surface, causing it to open face down, cracking the spine open.
Y/N reached out to pick up the book, and when she did raise it from the ground, she thought nothing of it until a word caught her eye. She quickly flipped open the book, and her eyes widened at the large, red printed words that said ‘Cowboy position’. She gave a small gasp as a flush came to her cheeks. Was this-? She skimmed through the pages quickly, noticing the different, racy sex positions titles on each page. This was a sex tips book.
This book had sticky notes in it, and so Y/N reluctantly flipped to one of the sections with the mostly green sticky notes on the page. In that section it mainly consisted of graphic descriptions of how to use a squirting dildo- holy shit. Y/N quickly slammed the book shut and took a seat on their bed to try and make sense of it. She couldn't help the image of Hange roughly grabbing at her hips and taking her like the book had suggested definitely got her mind racing with other ideas.
She needed to calm down, this wasn't anything that she should be ashamed or abashed about. They were both adults and had had sex with one another more times than she could count.
She opened the book once again, more cautiously though, as if opening it would set off a weapon. She decided to look at some of the other book marks. She was in awe of how organized the sticky notes actually were, and the color coding of the system Hange had used, as it seemed that the purple sticky notes represented things they had already tried, the orange represented things that would pique Y/N’s kinks and interests and the green were things Hange would like. She would have continued to read the book, now fascinated by its contents, but she heard the familiar jingle of keys, and closed the book. Her face had since calmed down and she stood from their bed, making her way to the living room to greet them.
When they opened the door, they were met with a grinning Y/N, standing near the hallway entrance. Her hands were behind her back, and Hange took note of that rather quickly. “Hello darling, how was your day?” Y/N asked.
Hange set their bag down near the door, kicking off their shoes and taking off their sweater as they answered her. “It was good! In one of my classes half of the students didnt have their research paper done so I had to push the due date back-” They sighed, still not catching on to Y/N’s gaze. “-Aside from that though, everything ran smoothly. I got to finish my lecture without going over class time or not finishing so that was nice-” They turned to her now, and stopped in their tracks “Angel? Whats going on?”
“Hans-” Her voice was sickly sweet, and the grin she sported on her face caused a small chill to run down Hange’s back. Had they done something wrong? They had heard of stories where husbands came back home, unsuspecting that their wife was plotting their murder because the wife had acted so kind to them in their final moments. Y/N was always charming to them, but the tone in her voice was off. ”… Whats this?” Y/N removed her hand from behind her back, and much to Hange’s relief and horror, she did not have a knife. No, she held something way worse- A book- many would see it and be unassumed by its cover, however Hange knew what it was.
“Oh yeah, that-” They gave a nervous chuckle “Yeah, I… um-” The book in question contained the most carnal, lewd tips and positions, half of which Hange had never even heard of. It had started off as a joke when they bought the book, as they had wanted to spice up their bedroom life, leep things as exciting as when they had first met Y/N all those years ago.
When Y/N had first met with hange, and they had had sex for the first time, Hange knew that they were her first and didn't have to worry about anything else but making her cum. However that wasn't the case after they had reconnected years later, knowing that Y/N had had multiple partners in the time between their break up and their reunion. They would also admit, they were slightly insecure about their bedroom performance, as after they had spent so much time with Y/N in the past two years, they were worried they were boring her with the same few positions that they knew of. And on top of all of that, ever since they had lost their eye in the lab accident years ago, they had not had a sexual partner nor felt as confident or sexy as they had before.
After a quick online search of the best techniques to making a partner orgasm, they had come across the book that was recommended by a popular sexual health website. After a short search of the book and its reviews, it seemed legitimate, and Hange couldn't help but be intrigues by the reviews that people had written, so they bought it. Worst case was that it was nothing special, which is actually what Hange had expected.
When it finally did come and they opened the package, they were glad to see that the cover looked ‘normal’ with just the name of the author and a simple picture of a woman on the front. From the outside, no one would ever assume its contents, not even Hange, until they opened it up later that night while Y/N was asleep. They had almost choked on their own spit after reading the first few pages after the acknowledgments. It wasn't… graphic, but the detailing in the book caused Hange to really sit up in bed and read it with such intensity that by morning they had memorized the same first 5 to 10 pages.
The enthusiastic moans that Hange had received the night after the book had finally arrived at their doorstep, was all they needed to know that whatever the author had written of was magic. For the first time in almost a year, they had fucked Y/N to sleep that night, with her too out of it to even say anything coherent to them. It had been the ace up their sleeve for the past 4 months, with almost every time, them trying a new position.
There had been positions and certain toys that the both of them had enjoyed more than others. For example, Y/N had seemed to be very fond of the double sided dildo that Hange had one day brought home. Since that day, it was one of the more ‘requested’ toys that they played with. Hange had taken a special liking to competing with Y/N to see who could get the other off quicker in the 69 position.
“So… how did you find that..?” Hange laughed, still nervously eyes Y/N. She gave a side grin as she stalked back and forth on her side of the living room. They could have sworn they left that in their office, but maybe they had accidentally left it under their pillow or somewhere else around the house. After all, it was easy to get distracted by the book when its contents were so captivating.
“Well, its simple really, I was doing some light cleaning around the apartment and stumbled across it. Imagine my surprise when I accidentally dropped it, and when I picked it up and looked at the page it had opened up to a section on the cowboy position. Then I got curious and, would you look at that-” She opened the book dramatically “Where you placed the most sticky notes, its describing how to best incorporate a squirting dildo into your nightly activities” Y/N tilted her head a bit, and Hange could feel themselves growing wet at just the sight of her. “No wonder why you suddenly became more interested in adding fake cum. I mean- I thought it was just your kink that gave you the idea, since you always liked to make a bit of a mess when we go at it, but wow, this is a whole new step-”
They blushed at her words now. If they were not ashamed before, they certainly were now. Her words were true, they had wanted to try a scenario or two where they pretended like they could get her pregnant, seeing her a mess beneath them, covered with the synthetic liquid that had the same consistency as cum. Their clit ached at that thought even more, as they grew more and more agitated in the clothing they were wearing. It also didn't help the small amount of degradation that was going on right now, even if it was unintentional. “When have I ever been one to shy away from new experiences, especially in the pursuit of knowledge.” Hange approached her slowly, every one of their steps holding purpose behind them.
“Experiences you say? Or do you really mean experiments?” Y/N cocked an eye brow as she approached them as well, with the both of them meeting in the center of their living room. “I don't mind being your experiment dear, but usually you tell the participants beforehand of what it might entail. If you had told me sooner of this book, I imagine we would have already been done with all of them by now-” There was a hint of attitude in her voice and Hange realized that she wasn't angry or mad about them buying the book, she was agitated because they hadn't shared it with her.
“What im hearing is, you want to experiment with it yourself then?” Hange, sly as ever, gave her a grin that was akin to that of something like a fox. Y/N narrowed her eyes for a short second as she thought it over. She hadn't really thought the direction of their conversation would turn out this way, though she also shouldn't be surprised. How else was this supposed to play out when she was confronting them with a sex guide book they had bought to try on her?
“I am.” She stated and Hange internally raised their fists in the air in excitement. “Who else wouldn't want to be filled up by their partner after all?” Oh, okay so they were talking dirty now. Without a warning, Y/N tugged on the collar of their button up shirt, pulling them towards their room in a rush and flinging them down onto the bed. They knew she had some strength in her, but didnt realize it was that much- but maybe it was just because she really wanted to-
“You are sure in a rush-” Their hands roamed over Y/N’s shoulders as she climbed on top of them, admiring the beauty of her before truly starting. She placed a rough kiss on their lips, her legs spreading so that her knees were on the bed and she was straddling their hip. Their hands found the fabric of her shirt and started pulling on it, eventually achieving their goal and removing the piece of fabric. Beneath that however, Y/N still wore her bra and Hange internally grumbled as they pushed their head into Y/N’s chest to momentarily enjoy her breasts, before wrapping their hand around to her back and unclipping the last article of clothing that separated them from Y/N’s chest.
As they did so, Y/N answered their earlier mentioned statement: “Duh, I literally have been horny for about an hour before you got home.”
“We’ll have the whole night- don't worry.” With all the strength that Hange possessed, they flipped Y/N over, so that her back hit the bed and they rolled to be on top of her. Her legs around their waist had kept them locked there, and so it was Hange’s turn to be the one on top, between her legs. They placed a kiss to her cheek quickly before sliding a finger into the waistband of her pants and tugging them off of her. Y/N assisted how she could, easing the process by slipping her legs out of the pants, and kicking them away from her body as she laid back. Her legs below her knees rested off the beds edge, allowing for Hange to stand up for a second to go towards their side of the bed.
They reached into their bedside drawer, and wrapped their hands around an oddly labeled bottle. Y/N could see the blush on Hange’s cheeks as they returned to their spot between her legs and showed it off to Y/N. “Is this-”
“Fake cum.” They confirmed. “Bought it a week or so ago after finding the best brand online.”
“Hans…” Y/N wasn't sure weather she should take Hange’s internet access away from them or give it to them more often, as so far, all of their research using the internet has resulted in the kinkiest shit Y/N has ever heard about. “Remind me later to have a discussion about your internet search history-” They flipped the cap open, and angled it onto two of their fingers.
“Hopefully I screw you hard enough to where I wont have to remember to remind you-” The liquid came out of the bottle, and Y/N’s first impression of it was that it was more watery than she first thought it would be. She had always imagined that the liquid would be thicker, however it dripped down onto Hange’s fingers as if it was syrup.
Y/N licked her lips at that thought, and Hange too notice. “Want to try it? Dont worry- its edible. Don't know how it tastes though-” Hange tapped at Y/N’s lips, leaving a sticky string behind, and Y/N reluctantly opened her lips to take their fingers into her mouth. She tried to look as sexy as she possibly could, but her face most definitely had a look of intense concentration as she swirled her fingers over their digits to taste the substance. It wasn't terrible… but it also wasn't amazing to taste. One could argue that it was edible, it was bittersweet, not salty like Y/N had imagined.
Hange removed their fingers from her mouth, their eyes full of curiosity and questions: “So? How did you like it?”
“Wasn't bad, but I also wouldn't purposefully drink it.” She responded.
“If it was in me would you still eat me out though?” Hange asked and Y/N laughed.
“Yes- though there is a very low bar of reasons on why I wouldn't eat you out-” Y/N leaned in to kiss Hange and then laid back down against the bed as they positioned themselves onto of her.
“Here, im just gonna start off with some of this to prep you.” Their arm reached between her legs, and she could feel their breath on her cheek as they watched her expressions at squeezing some of the liquid onto her cunt, and then inserting their pointer and middle finger into her. A chill went down Y/N’s spine as they added the bit of the fake cum onto her cunt, and then messaged it so that it went inside her. It was cold at first, but as Hange continued to finger her gently, she grew used to the odd feeling. “Next time- let’s warm it up beforehand-“ Y/N whimpered out, as she tried to keep her voice steady. She liked Hange’s fingers and could get off easily on most days to just them, but right now she wanted something so much more.
“Next time- I agree…” All Hange heard was that they might be doing this again, as they tenderly leaned down and gave a small flick of their tongue on Y/N’s clit. She flinched, causing Hange’s fingers to slip out of her. “Wow, so sensitive already?”
“Well that tends to happen when-” She paused her sentence as she tried to catch her breath “When a person reads erotica before getting fingered by their partner-” She chuckled. Hange leaned upwards to place a kiss on her lips, before pulling back, giving Y/N enough room to move. “Lets get rid of this-” Y/N sat up and started eagerly pulling at Hange’s shirt to get it off. She wanted to see their bare skin, feel it on her’s as they made love to her. They complied with her request, and helped pull of their button up shirt, taking it off over their head (as they didnt want to take the time unbuttoning each button) and tossing it somewhere onto their bedrooms floor. She would make them pick it up later. She then struggled for a moment to remove their binder, as it was tightly pressed to their chest, and only with Hange’s help did she finally manage to get it off. She tenderly rubbed their breasts, massaging them as she was sure they were sore after a full day of wearing the binder. And finally, she came up to their face, brushing a hand tenderly against their cheek before untying their eyepatch, and setting it off to the side on the bed. She knew they had a bad habit of not allowing their skin under their eyepatch to breath, as they were insecure about it, and she kissed their eyelid, feeling it flutter beneath her lips.
They leaned back down, their breast brushing against Y/N’s own, and she sighed at their touch. They then started placing tender kisses to her neck, each of them being so soft that she internally laughed at how pleasant they were being. They were acting as if this was just another day of them lavishing their wife’s neck rather than they were about to fuck her. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the sensation before they finally placed their first bite mark in the space between the base of her neck and shoulder. She yelped out in shock, and then shot a look to them.
“You like it-” they mumbled into her skin and she didn't deny it as they continued their ministrations. After about 5 minutes, she was sure her neck had discolored marks all around it, and that she would need to wear a scarf if they went anywhere for the next week or so.
It was then or so she shivered and remembered just how wet and sensitive she still was down below her waist line, still being able to feel how the fake cum stuck to her thighs and cunt. “You better finish what you started.” She groaned as they placed a hand on her thigh and gave it a small reassuring squeeze, which only made her more irked that they still hadn't token care of her.
“Bossy bossy-” Their voice was light and playful as they stood up from the bed and walked into their shared closet. Y/N couldn't see the impish smile that graced Hange’s lips as they realized they had full control over what they would be doing to Y/N. Perhaps it was finally time to try their favorite page in the book? No point in trying to conceal their kinks now, as Y/N had just read all about what exactly they wanted to do.
When they did come out of the closet, they had finally removed their pants and were wearing the all too well known harness that would hold the dildo that Hange had picked out. They hid it behind their back, and now it was Y/N that was anxiously waiting to see what her fate would be. When they did finally pull out the toy they had decided to use, she realized that it wasn't a toy she had seen before.
They sat on the edge of the bed, grabbing the fake cum and- inserting it into the toy? “Wait- you actually have one!?” Y/N’s mouth almost dropped open to be as big as her eyes were, as she bewilderedly stared directly at the toy. Hange beamed in proudness,as they started setting it in its place on the harness, careful of the contents inside of it. Y/N’s staring made them rush to lock it in, as all they wanted was for Y/N to be under them.
“Bought it recently-” the dildo finally clicked in place, assuring Hange that it wouldn't move from its place. “Was gonna wait to warm you up to the idea, but it seems like fate had other plans” They shrugged and guided Y/N to shimmy further up onto the bed so that her legs were not falling off the ledge like previously. As she laid her head near where their pillows laid, Hange tapped her hips so that Y/N would open her legs even wider, inviting for Hange to get between them without saying anything. “This is okay, right? I don't mind putting it away and doing whatever you want to do-”
“Trust me Hange, this is exactly what I want to do. You can continue-” Y/N’s right leg wrapped around Hange’s waist and gently pulled on them to lower themselves into her, reassuring her comfortableness with them. The toy went in with no resistance, as the artificial cum acted as a lubricant as well, which Y/N was grateful for. She breathed in, and the released a sigh as Hange slid the toy out of her so that the head of it barely rested against her clit.
“Good job Angel,” Hange praised, angling it so that it slid back in once again, receiving a more enthusiastic moan from Y/N. They moved their hips in rhythm with Y/N’s breathing and moans. The louder she moaned, they harder the thrusted, using her sounds as their own tune.
They could see how her thighs shook, as they continued to fuck her, not strong enough to do much of anything but occasionally tremble. Y/N placed one of her hands over her face to hide the obscene expressions she was sure she was making, her mouth wide opened as all that could escape it was unidentifiable words that sounded similar to ‘don't stop’ and ‘fuck’.
“Come on Angel, let me see your pretty expressions-” They took hold of her wrist, guiding it away from her face and to rest above her head, stopping in their motions for a few seconds. “I love watching your face when you orgasm.” Hange breathed out, their voice airy as they started once more. Y/N could do nothing but watch the way their hips rammed into hers, and how their breasts looked. That gave her an idea as she adjusted her body and leaned upward, taking a hold of one of Hange’s nipples into her mouth and flicking her tounge over it as they fucked her. That seemed to get their approval, even if they couldn't see her face, as they wrapped a hand into her hair and keeping her head there (not that she thought of moving it anyways).
They had fucked her to sleep more times than they could count, but they now had a new goal: to fuck her until she was stupid. Fortunately for them, Y/N was a very smart woman, so it would take them a bit of time to get her to that point. They say fortunately as making Y/N moan and plead with them to let her finish was one of their favorite pass times.
It had not taken much thrusting on Hange’s part before Y/N was orgasming. The way they knew wasn't that she had told them, but because of the small quirk that when she is about to do so, her hands tend to spasm and reach for them. Her mouth released from their chest and she laid back completely, so that her body could enjoy the feeling. When she did so, Hange reached their own hand downward towards the toy and squeezed on the base of it, causing its contents to spill out into Y/N, and for her to throw her head back in absolute pleasure.
“Hange!” Y/N’s hands continued to twitched against Hange’s skin and the sighed as they buried their head into her chest, breathing in her skins scent. Whatever perfume Y/N had put on that morning had long since disappeared from her skin, and so all they took in was the unique and captivating smell that could only come from Y/N- just the way they liked it. She rolled her hips underneath them, eventually leading to her stilling and relaxing against the bed. They had been successful in making Y/N climax, however as they settled into their spot on top of Y/N, it made their own cunt ache even more. They had actually been rather close themselves, grinding their clit on the harness in time with their thrusts into Y/N.
They gave a kiss to one of her nipples and brought their head up to her neck. “Just one more, please…” Hange whined into her neck, and Y/N chuckled. Even with the artificial cum leaking out of her that they had just placed, they were still being greedy. “I want to ensure you’re pregnant by the end of this-” Y/N’s eyes widened once more (for what felt like the 100th time this evening), slightly turned on once more by their words. “And I was close while fucking you like this-” Ah so they were also close to an orgasm. Y/N rolled her eyes, as she guided for Hange to now lay on the bed besides where she had just been, with them removing the toy from her accompanied by a small ‘pop’ sound, and the feeling of the sticky substance leaking out of her.
When she sat up and went to climb on top of Hange, the feeling only increased as her cheeks grew red with the sight of their bedding. Maybe they should have prepared in advance for this, as their sheets were now soaked and dirtied with the fake cum. Y/N would most likely be frustrated later at having to clean it, but right now she couldn't bring herself to care as she straddled Hange once more, just as she had earlier, taking hold of the dildo and rubbing it over her vulva before taking it into her.
She had to steadily and slowly sink her body down onto the toy. Despite having just taken it while laying down, it was a different feeling from sitting up and taking it, making her feel more filled as she finally reached the base of it. One of her hands clutched onto the sheets below, while the other placed itself on Hange’s shoulder to balance herself and ensure she didn't fall over from the pleasure that coursed through her body. Hange could see the concentration on her face, and they wanted to help, holding her hips with both of their hands.
She gave a small roll of her hips that earned her a groan from Hange below her, and she started laughing. “You are a needy one.” Y/N breathed out as she maintained a constant pace of her hips. She could tell with the way she was moving, she was pressing just right onto their clit, hopefully providing enough stimulus but not too much. Luckily, this position also allowed for her clit to be tended to, as it rubbed against the harness as well.
“Says the woman who was just fucked and still is-” Y/N stilled her hips and Hange gave a pathetic whine. Y/N smiled at the sound, reveling in the power she now had over them.
“I can stop now if you’d like-” And Hange just about cried at that.
“NO!” The word came out louder and quicker than they had meant it to, as they pressed their fingers into Y/N’s hips. It would leave a mark later no doubt.
Y/N laughed as she rolled her hips once more, and Hange tilted their head back, enjoying the continuation of their pleasure from Y/N’s movements and the way her body looked above them as she did so. She looked so determined, and Hange bit their lip, moving their hands from her hips to her thighs, gripping them roughly to keep them as wide and open as they could.
Y/N could hear the sounds of the cum aiding to the slapping of their skin against one another, and she had no doubt that that made Hange get off even more. They loved the mess of sex, the loud sounds of all of their body parts meeting each other and moving in a way that would eventually bring the both of them pleasure. Hange did not shy away from the aspects of sex that might make most people uncomfortable or insecure about, and that turned on Y/N so much more.
When Hange finally sighed out, their knee raising off the bed, halting Y/N’s movement, Y/N was sure they had finally orgasmed. As she helped them ride out their own orgasm, her hips moving gently, she also climaxed, stopping her hips and propping both her hands against the bed as they twitched, trying to regain her composure while her body still rang with the pleasure that had just occurred from her orgasm. She pulled herself off the toy, a trail of the cum sticking to the toy and her cunt, she sighed at the sight. She collapsed on top of Hange, her body trying to fit into the curves and small areas of Hange’s body.
“You did so good- I love when you take control like that.” Hange mumbled, trying to regain their own energy from the climax that had just racked through their body. Y/N simply hummed out as she closed her eyes, her cunt still twitching here and there from their rendezvous. For just a moment, she allowed herself to regain her senses before raising herself back up to move off of Hange to start cleaning up after them. She needed to get their backup sheets from the closet, needed to start removing it from the bed before their mattress got ruined.
“I hope you don't think we are done yet-” Hange roughly grabbed her hips, pulling her back down onto them, making her yelp out and angled the dildo so that it sat between her thighs, just skimming her labia.
“We are a mess Hange-” She whined out, and looked to their bed once more. There was no way they could go another round or two with their bedding like this- they needed to clean up. Hange finally took note of what Y/N was talking about and hummed in agreement.
“You are right- we are a bit of a mess right now- so is the bed.” Hange looked to the bathroom. They let her go and sat up themself. “Guess we are taking this to the bathroom then! Good thing the surfaces in there are wipeable-” Y/N raised an eye brow, her neck jerking roughly to look at them and gasp at their suggestion.
“What!? More?” Y/N breathing quickened, and she internally groaned at feeling herself getting excited and wet again, her clit twitching at the notion.
“I told myself I would fuck you until you were stupid, and from the looks of it, you can still talk-” They leaned over and licked the tip of her nose, while grappling with her breasts, causing her to give a small gulp. Despite the sexual layering of this conversation- Y/N took a moment to really talk to them, as she still had questions
She placed a hand on Hange’s shoulder as she stilled their hands on her chest, and they wrapped them around her waist. She started off slowly, as she asked them: “Dear, why did you buy the book? Was it genuinely because you wanted to spice things up?” Y/N had a feeling in her stomach that there was much more to it than simply just wanting to try new things, and she knew she was correct in that assessment as Hange bit on the inside of their cheek.
“I- well, I will admit I grew a bit insecure-“ their eye looked off to the side, unable to look at Y/N’s face as they were being vulnerable. “You’re younger than me, and have been intimate with more people than me. I just worried that you would grow tired of the same sex. And let’s admit- I’m not the most… attractive partner you could have-“
“Awww Hans-“ Y/N cut them off, placing both of her hands on their face, as she comforted them. She felt slightly guilty that she had not verbalized to them just how much she loved them and her feelings on their sex life. Not only that, but the fact that they didn’t think they were attractive internally killed Y/N. “You know that regardless of what, I love being intimate with you.” She reassured them, making them look into her eyes. “It’s always exciting for me, because it’s with you. There is no one else in this world that has ever looked or touched me the way you do, even before you bought that stupid book.” She smiled softly “not to mention you are also so hot, that it was easy to get off even before you added all of the kinky stuff.”
“Really?” She nodded, and Hange’s face became warm underneath her hands as they leaned in and kissed her on her lips, savoring in the taste of her lips. “I love you so much Y/N. I worry I dont say that enough-” Y/N shook her head.
“Well you only tell me 10 times a day-” She wrapped her arms around their neck, bringing them into her chest for a hug.
“And it should be 20, or more!” Hange argued, closing their eye as they hugged her, laying their head on her breasts. “If you ever grow tired of me, will you tell me?”
“You wont have to worry about that happening Hans. You’re stuck with me now, and im stuck with you, so just deal with it.” She murmured.
“Well, you'll only really be stuck with me if you get knocked up. Maybe ill baby trap you-” They started by were cut off once more by Y/N, who rolled her eyes at their idea.
“Hange- thats physically impossible.” Y/N felt as Hange pulled her body up with them as they stood, causing her to squeal.
“Thats what science is for though. To figure out the impossible- now, lets continue this in the bathroom. I have a feeling that it might just work-” And she couldn't say no to their adorable face as they pulled her by the waist with them towards their bathroom. She had no doubt that by the morning, she wouldn't be able to walk or talk just as they had planned.

"There you are!"
You turn around to see Hange enter the office and shut the door promptly with a loud thud. You flinch upon the sound. Curious as to what you’re up to, the Commander strides toward your station, where rows of microscopic slides sit for preparation.
Standing behind you, Hange rests their chin on your right shoulder and hugs your waist loosely. They watch you place a cover slip on a wet sample.
They hum.
"Just seven minutes ago, your squad was looking for you at the dining hall, which led me to think, 'Hmm… what could my beautiful wife be up to on this fine afternoon?'" You roll your eyes, snickering. "I would have never guessed that she'd be scholarly working at my office when she could've worked at hers."
"Oh, Hange," you say with a shake of your head. "Who am I to pass up on the opportunity of working at a larger space during my free time?"
You pipette a drop of infusion to a new slide.
"I admit it's messier here, but the Commander always has nicer things, and I happen to be married to them."
Hange pinches your cheek before kissing it.
"Ha-ha, cheeky. That's why you’re my wife."
Hange leaves you to your devices and walks around their desk. They pour themselves a glass of water before looking out the window. They watch a pair of new recruits walking in the quadrangle.
Hange smiles to themselves. The sight reminds them of when you first met, back when you couldn't even stand within three feet from them out of embarrassment. Hange was from the graduating class two years above you, and by the time you joined the Scouts, they had already earned their spot in the regiment's chain of command.
"What are you thinking of?" You appear beside them, having left your work on the counter. Hange giggles and points at the two suspecting love birds in the courtyard below. "Ah. From the 107th?"
"Yep! Looks like us, huh?"
You snorted.
"No way. They don't even seem to talk to each other. You, on the other hand"—you elbow Hange gently—"ran your mouth all day long until my ear fell off."
"You loved listening to me talk!" Hange retorts. You look at them, unamused. "Alright, I might have annoyed you at first, but you secretly loved having me around."
"Unfortunately, I did," you say with a sigh. Hange pats your head, laughing to themselves.
Suddenly, a knock sounds on the door. Hange orders them to enter.
"Commander!" A soldier from the 106th Training Corps calls with a salute. “Captain Levi requests to see you.”
Patting your head turns into combing your hair. Hange continues the endearing action as they raise an eyebrow at the soldier.
“About what?”
“About a prospective meeting with General Zackly, sir.”
“I’ll be there in a few.”
The soldier salutes again. Before leaving, he sees the Commander tell you something before kissing you on the lips. When the Commander looks back at the door to see him still standing there, he runs out in a hurry and shuts the door sheepishly.
Scurrying away from the scene, he runs into a friend.
“Hey, Holger,” the soldier greets. He looks at Holger worriedly as if he’s seen a ghost. “You okay, man?”
“Yeah, Wim,” he replies. He looks over his shoulder, gawking at the hallway he just came from, the one leading to the Commander’s office. “I was wondering…”
Wim squints his eyes at Holger’s mumbling. He tilts his head to the side.
“I can’t hear you.”
“I was wondering…” Holger mumbles the other half of the sentence.
“I still can’t hear you.”
Holger steps forward. Wim follows. Leaning closer to his friend, Holger whispers into his ear.
"I was wondering, is the Commander seeing someone? Maybe one of us, the Scouts?"
Wim is taken aback.
"How would I know that?"
"Because!" Holger hisses. He takes a cautious look over his shoulder to make sure that no one else is around before proceeding. "The Commander... They were with the Squad Leader of the Fourth Squad when I entered their office."
"Hmm..." Wim thinks to himself, rubbing his chin. "Why would you suspect a relationship over that?"
"Because the Commander kissed her!"
Wim's eyes widen. He stands there speechless, but he communicates with Holger through his eyes, asking for an affirmative answer to a question he never spoke: "Are you telling the truth?"
Suddenly, you emerge from the end of the hallway, humming a melodic tune as you flip through the yellowing pages of a book. The two soldiers stand there, unmoving. They cannot run to save themselves.
"Why, hello there," you greet with a sweet smile upon passing them. You close the book. "Do you need anything?"
They salute. Holger shakes his head.
"No, Ma'am! We were on our way."
You nod.
"Great! Because trust me, you don't want the Commander finding you dilly-dallying in the hallway of their office." You laugh lightheartedly, but Wim and Holger can't find it in them to laugh along as they fear their superior more than anything. "Anyway, off you go, and have a nice day, you two!"
As you walk along your merry way, the two soldiers look at each other dumbfounded before tending back to their duties.

Locomotives are great Marleyan inventions.
It turns out that locomotory wheels are conical in shape to avoid derailment when the tracks turn at a certain point. Connie remembers Armin mentioning something about centrifugal force, a concept he doesn’t understand enough to engage in intellectual discussion, but something he wants to ponder on to find out if it's worth learning in order to build the tracks from the Walls to the harbor.
The last time he checked, he doesn't really need to account for "centrifugal force" when laying steel on the ground. Connie may not be as intelligent as Armin, but he can understand that far. So really, he doesn't understand the need for Armin to ramble about "centrifugal force" under this scorching heat.
Mikasa hauls ultrahard steel from the cart to the end of the track. As she works on the welding, Armin chases Sasha around who has called dibs on the last pint of water. Connie and Jean curse behind Eren's back for suggesting they work on the railway instead of the new recruits who probably have nothing better to do.
Connie wipes the sweat off his forehead. Catching his breath, he decides to slack off for a few minutes. He watches Jean defeatedly sit on the ground panting, his fedora hat shielding his face from the sun.
Connie snickers. He finds the fedora hat on Jean funny. He looks like a rich snobby civilian from Wall Sheena.
To his left, Mikasa lays the blocks of steel neatly on the railway. Connie notices the scar she got from the Battle of Trost four years ago and the bandaging around her right arm that covers a tattoo of the Azumabito's crest.
Everyone has tiny details of themselves that normally go unnoticed, it seems.
As Connie wonders what his would be, he hears the clopping of hooves from the distance, followed by you, Hange, and Levi on horseback.
Connie helps Jean back up and they form a circle around the new arrivals.
"Ah! Working hard under the sun, I see?" Hange teases the group while Jean complains. You laugh beside them, bringing your left hand to cover your mouth. Connie notices.
"Since when did you guys get so tall?" Levi clicks his tongue, peering up at him with an irked expression. Connie continues to stare.
He doesn't know if he's seeing things correctly. For all he knows, it could be the heat messing with his brain. On your left ring finger, however, sits a metal band with a sparkling stone on its bed. Even as you put your hand down, Connie ponders on this discovery and zones out for the entirety of Hange's chattering.
He only manages to hear they cannot count on Hizuru to negotiate with other nations before staring at your hand like a creep. No one seems to notice his gawking, though, because he gets lost in his thoughts for a solid minute.
The last time he checked, you didn't wear a wedding ring, and you weren't into wearing jewelry at all for the fear of losing them at work. Although Connie isn't your closest friend, he believes he would have never missed out on this very important information about your life, given that you have survived many battles together along with the crew.
"...The world can't see our faces. Why would they ever trust us?" Connie snaps out of his thoughts and watches Hange throw their hands out. "So... let's meet them ourselves. If they don't understand who we are, we just have to teach them."
Meet them ourselves? Connie thinks to himself. We're going outside?
As the others reflect on the idea, Connie thinks of what he would do and should do upon arrival at the Marleyan mainland. He once again zones out, now staring at Hange as he does so.
Wait, what's that?
Closing his eyes, he shakes his head. Beams of sunlight bounce off Hange as they wave their hands around while speaking.
He narrows his eyes. Hange stops moving. They drop their hands to their side.
He sees it.
A metal band fits perfectly on their left ring finger, slightly different from yours in design, but too similar to conclude one thing.
Hange and (Y/N) are married?!
Connie looks into the distance, wide-eyed. He begins to rack his brain for clues, idle instances and memories that could have hinted at your relationship.
He focuses too much on his searching that he doesn't even notice you, Hange, and Levi retreating to the Walls and leaving him and the squad once more.
It must have been the heat yet again when he sees Hange put a discrete hand on your waist as you pass them on horseback.

Ever since the formation of an alliance with Paradis military, Onyankopon has been running around non-stop with Yelena to speak for the Anti-Marleyan volunteers. As expected, he rarely gets a day off without running into trouble, but when he does, he makes sure to enjoy it all by the ocean, where the Marleyan chefs have set up a dine-in food service by the dock.
He's sharing a table with Yelena when he hears a familiar voice fast approaching. His face lights up.
"Hange!" he greets the Commander with his hands up in the air. Hange sits on the chair beside him. "What have you come here for?"
"I ran an errand nearby, so I decided to come." Hange waves at one of the Marleyan chefs and shouts their order. The chef nods silently, his anger for the island devils long gone. "What are you up to?"
"I was thinking of some improvements for the gear you use to move around." Onyankopon hums, thinking if it would be a good idea to bring it up now. "Although that could be a discussion for another day."
"I would love to hear it!" Hange looks at the blonde woman sitting across them. "What about you? I take it that you've explored the island by how much work you've been doing."
"Unfortunately, nobody can beat the Commander in that sport," Yelena replies. Hange laughs bitterly. "I've been doing well, thank you very much. The people at Shiganshina are surprisingly welcoming, but I prefer the ones at Wall Sheena much more."
Yelena sips on the green tea in front of her. Hange stares blankly.
"O-oh! I'm guessing it's the weather or the district architecture?" they assume. Yelena shakes her head.
"While I fancy those things, I believe Wall Sheena has much more interesting… women. Some of them I eye particularly," Yelena remarks. "Has that ever happened to you, Commander?"
"W-well," Hange stutters, unsure of what to say, "no, it hasn't."
"Oh." Yelena smirks, placing her chin on top of her hand as she leans forward, studying Hange. Suddenly, she looks at their left hand intently, making them follow the direction of her stare. "Then what could possibly explain the new band on your finger if it weren't for a charming man who sought after you in the richer districts?"
Hange mentally sighs. They roll their eyes inside their head.
Onyankopon clears his throat.
"I believe I should stay out of this," he says, leaning back on the chair.
"It's alright. This is just small talk," Hange reassures him by giving a joyful response. They look back at Yelena. "Anyway, I find the outer districts more homey than the inner ones, but to each their own. I would have to correct you on two things, though. First of all, I was never sought after. I chase."
Yelena tilts her head to the side, intrigued. It seems very Hange-like to busy themselves chasing after people.
"And the second one?"
As soon as the food arrives, Hange grabs the big glass of water and downs half of it in one go.
"I have never felt interest for a man. Surprising?"
Yelena chuckles.
"Right, I should have detected it that far. No, it isn’t surprising," says the blonde. "I find women endearing as well. I apologize for my assumptions."
"I apologize, too." Onyankopon bows his head in guilt albeit being a spectator. Hange waves their hand to dismiss them.
"That's one lucky woman, I would say. It isn't often that you meet and marry a Commander," Yelena continues. Hange doesn't know how to feel about her persistence, but they've observed Yelena to be very persistent over the past two years. Her nagging is expected. "So? If she doesn't live in the inner Walls and the Commander doesn't have the time to roam civilian grounds... do we know her?"
Hange saw this coming. They knew Yelena would be able to deduce that far.
Instead of a proper response, they shrug.
"No idea, but as perfect as she is, I can tell you that you wouldn't get along well." Hange looks at Yelena's plate, steaming with food. "She would pick at your food if she had your meal, then she would give me the rest."
Hange invites Onyankopon to take the first bite and they begin to dine. Yelena is left laughing at herself.
"You got me, Commander Hange. I'm sure she is beautiful like the ones I'm fond of from your regiment."
"Of course she is."
As Onyankopon shifts the subject into something else, Yelena eats her food piecemeal, thinking of the mysterious identity of the Commander's wife. You must be a soldier yourself, but Yelena hasn't noticed anything out of the ordinary from the many people Hange surrounds themselves with. Yelena can usually tell when people are together thanks to her keen eye. It should be generally easier to find out who you are since there isn't a lot of women Hange is associated with, but her radar is still deeply challenged.
She shrugs. She'll figure it out in time.

Months later, the new gear comes in.
You open your trunk. As expected, the gear is similar to that of the Anti-Personnel Control Squad's. The main components of the vertical maneuvering gear are still there, save for the blade compartment replaced by single-use cartridges and pistols. The gas cylinder is wider than the ones from the previous gear, now attached to two axles strapped to the back harness.
You look to your right. Mikasa's equipment is missing the set of firearms in favor of blades. She stares at her trunk.
"We need you at the forefront in attacking the intelligent Titans," Levi speaks behind her. "No use in giving you stupid pistols. You can kill humans even with blades."
Mikasa nods. You look at your gear once more. No blades, just pistols.
"I'm guessing this makes me in charge of the human killing?"
Levi thinks to himself.
"Not quite."
You knit your eyebrows.
"Hange has other plans for you. Ask them."
Later that day, the Scouts are ordered to try on their gear and practice zipping around the Forest of Giant Trees to get accustomed to them. You and your squad watch as Mikasa flies around, flawlessly carrying four Thunder Spears on each arm.
A hand rests on your shoulder. You look behind you to find Hange in the new gear and the complementary black suit, their oval glasses replaced by goggles. You nod to your squad and they disperse promptly, leaving you and Hange alone.
"Looks like you've done it again, Commander. At long last, there are no major issues with the gear."
They sneer.
"It wouldn't be possible without the Anti-Marleyan volunteers. I owe half of it to them." They examine you in your uniform, eyes scanning your entire body like they haven't just done so a couple of minutes ago. "That sure suits you. Have you gone around?"
"No, actually," you tell them after muttering a shy 'thank you'. Suddenly, you place your hands on your hips as you remember something. "Hey, wait a second. Why don"t I have blades in my trunk? Are we not letting the Fourth Squad attack?"
Hange looks at you, unsurprised, as if they expected such a question.
"I need you to stay on the airship as backup," they reason.
You look at them dubiously.
"Just me?"
"And your squad."
You shake your head.
"I don't know. There seems to be a hidden motive behind that."
"Are you questioning my decision?" they challenge.
"I'm questioning you as your wife," you say, another one of your tricks to dodge insubordination. Hange scoffs. "What exempts my squad from this?"
"Squad Levi will be at the frontline if we're up against the Nine Titans. Your squad will only attack when things go astray. Until then, your job is to scout aerially and make sure that nobody intrudes."
You open your mouth to argue, but Hange hooks their gear to a nearby tree.
"Last one to get out of the forest is a loser!"
"Hey—!" Your words are interrupted by them flying away at top speed. You grumble. "Ugh, Hange!"
Launching a grappling hook on the nearest tree, you propel yourself forward as you chase them with all your might. Hange takes a sharp turn halfway through, but you predict their actions a second too early. They whiz past trees in random directions, passing fellow soldiers in the same uniforms that camouflage them all too well, but your agility allows you to keep up.
"Wow, you're getting too close," they remark upon looking over their shoulder and finding you only two trees away. "Maybe I should keep you with Levi at the frontlines— (Y/N)!"
"HELP ME!"
The operating device that controls the right grappling hook of your gear stops working the moment you dislodge the left hook from the tree behind you, sending you free-falling from 70 meters in the air. You press on the right-hand device again but to no avail. You try the left, but the steel wire is visibly stuck after immediate retraction.
The wind blows the hair away from your face as you free fall. All it takes is approximately 3.8 seconds for you to hit the forest floor, but when you protect your head and brace for impact, you are caught by Hange just in time.
"O-oh my gosh—" you try to process your thoughts as you clutch your heart.
Hange settles you down on the ground. The Scouts nearby halt their training and land on the surrounding tree branches, observing the aftermath of the incident. Members of your squad and Levi's arrive moments later, followed by numerous soldiers with inkling curiosity at your desperate shriek.
Still shocked, you tug at Hange's suit to thank them, but they look furious.
It's not your fault, but you feel small under their gaze.
Hange is a different person when mad.
"Are you okay?!" they ask frantically, one hand patting your body for any signs of injury as the other holds you tightly. Hange repeats the question, but you can't answer properly as you try to come into terms with the shock. You've used broken equipment before, but none of those instances were as life-threatening as this.
Hange notices your body trembling, and they take it as a sign to stop asking you any further.
"I'm sorry, love. I'm not mad at you, I just... ugh!"
Their face contorts into frustration once more. How is it possible that everyone else's gear is working perfectly fine, but yours isn't? Hange made sure to keep their instructions clear as the new equipment were distributed among the soldiers: keep the Fourth Squad's and Squad Levi's the most defect-free.
As Levi approaches, Hange remembers the engraving on the body of the device that should be present in everyone else's gear: a unique serial code that should differ from each one. They gently turn you on your side to check the engraving.
Their blood boils.
"Everyone, stop whatever you are doing!”
In the far distance, you can hear the soft whirs of the anti-personnel maneuvering gear coming to a halt, clearly hearing the voice of their Commander.
“Alright, now tell me which USELESS DIMWIT in the Walls decided to give MY WIFE the broken gear that I instructed MANY TIMES to get rid of before coming here?!"
The entire forest remains quiet, possibly even quieter than before. The Scouts stare at the Commander, reflecting on their words with mouths agape.
They collectively don't know which piece of information to process first: the fact that Commander Hange is fuming in anger of a possible sabotage or the fact that they had just revealed your marriage. Somewhere in the crowds of soldiers, a few gasp at the latter detail.
Albeit still trembling, your face heats up at Hange's outburst, feeling a hundred different pairs of eyes looking down at the both of you.
You shake Hange's arm.
"I-I'm okay, you were there just in time, Hange—"
"Until I find out the idiot who did it, nobody is leaving this stupid forest!"
"Oi, Hange. Have mercy on your wife." Levi points at your shaking form. Your head faces the ground, afraid to look up given the commotion. Two of your squad members rush beside you for comfort. "It could have been intentional. Don't act rashly now."
Hange inhales deeply to respond to Levi's statement, but they hesitate as rationality strikes them. They momentarily let go of you to push their goggles to the top of their head before squeezing your hands tightly.
"I'm so sorry. Change out of your gear and leave with your squad. I'll meet you later."
You find it better to follow than to disobey them. Standing up from the ground, you immediately lean in for a hug. Although not as intimate as you normally would, Hange embraces you back and you feel even more eyes peering at the two of you.
"Thank you so much. I love you."
"I love you, too."
As you leave with the Fourth Squad, Wim and Holger stare at each other, their jaws reaching the floor. They can't communicate freely in the environment they're in, but their wide eyes are enough to articulate the incredulity and satisfaction of knowing that they were right all along.
By the foot of the trees, Connie stands in between Armin, Jean, Eren, Mikasa, and Sasha, who are equally dumbstruck by the revelation.
Connie looks at Sasha, whom he has amazing telepathy with.
Did you know this? Sasha asks. I did not know this.
I think I knew this, Connie replies.
How do you 'think that you know this'? Sasha asks again. Either way, that's not fair! I didn't know!
Connie shakes his head. Nobody did for certain. Maybe except for Captain Levi.
Tumblr media
The ride back to the Survey Corps headquarters is silent. You're too shameful to talk to your squad members as close as you may be, but you're grateful for their understanding of your boundaries.
On your way to the headquarters, you pass by the Anti-Marleyan volunteers with Yelena notably in the crowd. Her face brightens up the moment she sees you in the new maneuvering gear; she thinks you look a thousand times prettier than your day-to-day style. She makes her way to your sauntering horse, then tries to catch your attention with a friendly wave of her hand.
Before she can speak with you, one of your squad members taps her shoulder and shakes his head. Yelena slows down her pace and decides to lag behind with the man who had tapped her.
"Squad Leader (Y/N) doesn't want to speak to anyone at the moment," your squad member explains. Yelena raises her eyebrows, awaiting further explanation. "She is following Commander Hange's orders."
"What does the Commander have to do with whom she speaks to?" Yelena asks, finding it ridiculous that Hange would impose such a dumb rule for you to follow.
The man looks panicked.
"Well... she is the Commander's... wife," he replies, unsure if he should be spreading such information that was only revealed to him not more than 20 minutes ago. Yelena nearly stops walking.
What the hell did he just say?
A random memory from many months ago occurs to her.
Onyankopon, the Commander, and the Marleyan chefs. The dining service by the harbor. Yelena noticing the wedding band on the Commander's finger. Commander Hange mentioning their preference, making their interests clear.
Yelena deducing that they were married to a fellow soldier.
"Apologies, but I will be on my way," the man bids goodbye and commands the horse forward to catch up to the rest of the squad. Yelena is left by the side of the road, alone in shock.
She chuckles bitterly.
Out of all people, she thinks to herself.
At the very least, Hange was telling the truth. You are beautiful.

Textbooks Couldnt Prepare me for this
Chapter 5: Fading Light
Pairing: Professor Hange x Student Reader/ Roommates AU
Warnings: Sexual Content
Tumblr media
The light hurt Y/N eyes- that was all she was able to register at the moment. It was too much, and the headache that throbbed in the back of her temple did not help contribute to anything good. She groaned as she rolled over, away from where her window was, and rolled right into something.
Actually… That didn't feel like an object. She could feel arms and legs, so that meant it was someone-
Y/N’s eyes shot open, scared that she might discover some random person in her bed, before seeing the familiar glasses and brown hair of Hange. Her body released the tension and she sighed, relieved she had not been so drunk out of her mind to sleep with some random person. Hange’s eyes were closed, their breaths were deep, and they had fallen asleep above her covers. Y/N tried to remember the events of last night, though only small flashes came to her. She remembered throwing up so her friends took her home. She remembered Hange helping her to her room and then…She had asked them to stay with her.
They were so close to her now, that if she leaned over she could kiss them… They moved in their sleep and Y/N quickly sat up in her bed, not wanting to be caught being so close to them. She already felt shame at her thoughts thinking such a thing; That she could kiss her professor. That was a terrible thing to fantasize over.
“Y/N?” Hange’s eyes fluttered open, and Y/N could feel her cheeks heat up.
“H-Hange?” Her voice was more unsure, as she addressed them “Sorry ‘bout last night… I didn't mean to…” Her voice trailed off. What exactly was she sorry for? It could e she was sorry for asking Hange to sleep with her, or that she came home so drunk… Both of those things deserve an apology.
“Dont worry about it.” Hange groaned as they sat up from the position they had fallen asleep in. “I understand that sometimes those parties get wild. Im just glad you were safe and your friends brought you home.” Ah, so they took her apology that way.
“Yeah, but sti-” and her headache radiated through her skull, causing her to lower her head to her legs and clutch it in one hand. “Owwww” She moaned out.
“Here, lets get you some Aspirin…” They got up, walking to the kitchen and returning a second later with the medicine in hand, as they took her glass of water that they had placed on the bedside table the night before and offered her both. Y/N took it with no question and flopped back down on her bed as she waited for it to take effect. Hange sat at the edge of her bed, and for a moment, there was a silence between them before hange spoke out.
“Sorry for falling asleep on your bed.” Y/N looked at them, slightly caught off guard.
“What? Don't apologize. Im sorry I asked you to stay with me while I slept-” She sighed “I didn't know what I was doing- I didn't mean to… I didn't mean to ask you to sleep with me-”
“No, its fine. I should have said no, I was the sober one.”
“How about we just call it even?” Y/N suggested. “I don't want there to be any awkwardness between us, Hans.”
“Hans?” They turned their head, with a large smile on their face and Y/N froze.
“Yeah, is… is that okay? Its a nickname I thought would… Well im not sure-” she started and Hange cut her off.
“I love it.” They said. Y/N smiled back at them. They loved her nickname, and her heart soared with pride at that thought. They stood up, and sighed “Here, ill go make us some breakfast and them you can tell me how the party went?”
“Yeah, I would like that.” ‘Hange would be the perfect partner if they ever dated someone’ Y/N thought in her head ‘They were so kind and thoughtful. Always taking care of her and making sure she was alright…’ Y/N could only hope to meet someone like Hange. And then she felt an ache in her chest as the sun hit Hange’s face perfectly as they turned and left her room, leaving her there with her thoughts to herself.
No. There would never be anyone else like Hange. It was hard for Y/N to perceive that as possible, but she knew it was. She would never find another Hange, and that thought pained her. It made her want to cry even thinking about what will happen once she finishes College. Not living with Hange was too agonizing of an idea, as she had grown an immense connection to them. She wanted to stay with them, even though it was childish to think so. She didn't want anything to change, she just wanted to live in their apartment with one another, with their rabbit seasoning shakers, and movie nights.
Change was sometimes good, but Hange leaving was a change Y/N never wanted to experience…
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
Things had returned to the same as they had been before that Halloween party. Y/N had been out of the apartment more often as she had started picking up more shifts at her job to start saving up for christmas presents, and Hange had been busy more often with grading assignments, especially since they had somehow gotten behind on them. Novembers usually went this way. Students would be more busy with assignments, professors would struggle to catch up, and there would not be any peace until winter break was there.
They knew that on top of work and homework, Y/N had been going to study groups with that one boy, Jean Kirstein. They had made it a point to memorize his name due to Y/N. It was actually surprising how much of their life and work had come to revolve around Y/N. What they once thought was some silly infatuation with the young girl, was slowly becoming something more… intense.
Maybe it was just because they needed to get back into a lab setting, and then they would have something they could dissect and actually make sense of. It was pointless to try and evaluate their ‘relationship’ with Y/N because it would not only get them no where, but it would lead to nothing. They couldn't become involved with her. Not like that. Just living with her was already crossing so many boundaries, that the school set in place for reasons like this!
They just needed to sleep with someone to release this stress. That was it. They were just sexually repressed, thats what it came down to. They had never cared for power dynamic kinks like Student x Teacher and Submissive or Dominate themes. They were sure this would pass as well.
They stared at their computer as their fingers didn't move from their spot on their lap. They couldn't bring themselves to grade or lesson plan like they normally would. Not when they were thinking of… Y/N. Goddamn it! They threw their hands up in the air in frustration.
They finally gave up. Closing their laptop and placing it on the coffee table in front of them. They laid on their side on the couch, grabbing one of the pillows and placing it under their head as they thought for a second. They just needed a minute to clear their head and then they would finish their work.
They pressed their face into the pillow, as if it might squash any of their previous thoughts, only to breath in and…It smelt of Y/N, like so many things in the apartment. Why couldn't she just leave them alone for one second? Why did all of their thoughts have to revolve around her and her sweet sweet smile, and soft skin, and beautiful eyes…
They didn't even get a moment to calm themselves before closing their eyes and slipping into the blissful sleep that would hopefully clear them of their thoughts…

(Recommendation: for more accurate reading experience, listen to Fading into Light by Michael Kim-Sheng for the remainder of the chapter.)
What were they doing here? They had not been in this library since they were studying for their masters program a few years ago. They associated the rows and rows of shelves of books with the many sleepless nights they suffered, and the shots of coffee they had to take in order to stay awake. It even smelt the same- with the old book pages and faint scent of dust. They would never forget this place.
“Hange-” Though that voice being here was new. Hange whipped their head around, and there stood Y/N.
“Y/N… What are you doing here?” Their vision was distorted, which was odd because they were wearing their glasses. The only thing they could make out was Y/N and her face, which seemed to practically glow with the rays of the sun that illuminated from the windows, radiating off her skin. She was more beautiful than they had remembered, like a goddess. That wasn't the only thing they noticed, as they looked at what she was wearing. Y/N, dressed in a mini skirt that practically was ridding up her thighs, with a large button up shirt that they could swear was one of theirs. The top buttons undone a little too far down where they could see that Y/N wore no bra underneath. Hange didn’t mind it though, as Y/N could be wearing nothing and they still would struggle to find anything imperfect with her.
“Hange, I need you…” She pleaded as she walked towards Hange. Hange stumbled back, trying to put space between the two of them, though it was useless as they backed themselves up against a lab table that they could have sworn was not there before. “Please don’t leave. I want you to stay with me-” her words came out as smooth and sweet as honey, and Hange had a difficult time listening to reasoning. There was something off about her, about the way she spoke specifically. However, when Y/N pressed herself against their body, they felt their thoughts go blank. Their mind argued one thing but their heart was quick to shut it down.
“Y/N… You know we cant-” But Y/N was quick to place her hands on Hange’s shoulders, leaning her body onto theirs, invading all of their senses.
“Why not? No one else is here-” She had a point there. There was no one else around them, and Hange knew no one would interrupt them- So why shouldn't they just savor this moment? Just have their way with Y/N like they had been thinking about for weeks now. “No one has to know… Right, Professor?”
That one word quickly sent them spiraling, as they closed the distance between Y/N’s face, latching their lips onto hers. Y/N’s lips were softer than Hange could have imagined. They felt her melt into their body, as Hange supported Y/N’s weight to have her lean even more on them, being as close as they could to her. They quickly flipped her around, so that Y/N could lean against the table as they set to work on her.
She was warmer than Hange thought she would be, though that shouldn't be a surprise- She gave them a light that they had not felt in a long time. They had been lonely after the death of their friend Moblit. That’s why they had taken this job to begin with- they kissed Y/N’s neck and made their way down towards her shoulders then chest. She took away that loneliness in more ways than they had previously realized. Y/N was there for them, day in and day out. They unbuttoned her shirt and places a plethora of kisses and bite marks on her breasts, and listened as her breath hitched.
They raised once more, to kiss Y/N’s lips, bringing their thigh between her legs.  “Hange-“ It was almost like they could feel the warmth from between Y/N’s legs press into their thigh, as she rocked herself slowly. They wanted more from her. More of her warmth, and protection. It was selfish but wasn’t something they wanted to deny any longer. “You should wake up-“
“What?” Their head looked down at her, and it was hard not to focus on the trail of bite marks they had left on her body.
“I said- I think you should-”
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
“Wake up, Hange” Hange groaned and rolled in their spot as they slowly opened their eyes to see Y/N’s face inches from theirs, her hands on their shoulders. Shit- they had fallen asleep on the couch while grading. “You’re gonna hurt your back sleeping like that, and crinkle your clothing.” She scolded.
“Y/N!?” They slightly jumped up, causing Y/N to take a step backwards. They had started her, though in hindsight, they way she was that close to the, had reminded them too much of the dream they had just had.
“Whats wrong Hans?” That nickname did not help the fire that radiated between their legs, they wanted to hear her moaning out the nickname, pleading with them. They needed to do something about it- but they couldn't. Not yet, while Y/N was here. Oh how they imagined her lips on their- Wait- they needed to focus. “I… Just had an intense dream.” They said slowly, becoming more sure of their words.
“You look really hot Hange.” Y/N got closer to them once more, pressing a hand to their face. Y/N had taken notice of the red tint on their cheeks and grew concerned that her roommate was coming down with a fever. “Are you okay?”
“What?!” Hange blushed even more at Y/N’s words. Did she just call them… hot?
“Are you getting sick? Its unlike you to fall asleep while grading or looking so red-” Y/N pulled back her hand and Hange leaned forward, wanting to keep the contact. “You also don't sound too good…”
“No, Im okay…Im not sick, my dream was just very unexpected. I think I just need to go lie down in my bed.” They stood up. “I didn't mean to worry you Y/N. Ill be fine-”
She seemed to accept that answer as Hange could see her shoulders relax and her sigh. “Okay… You’ll let me know if you need anything, right?” It was cute how she worried about them. They nodded, and briefly passed her, though stopped when they were shoulder to shoulder.
They looked down at Y/N, and couldn't help themselves. They needed to somehow claim Y/N, even if only for a brief moment. It was supposed to be a forbidden thought, something that would never be, but they needed it to be real. They so desperately wanted it to be real.  “Thank you for worrying about me.” They placed a soft kiss on Y/N’s cheek, quickly pulling away. They wanted to retreat to their room, not wanting to face whatever they had just done. They would deal with the consequences in the morning, after they savored the sensation of kissing Y/N. They knew they could never have her- not only because they were her professor but because they were also way older than her.
But to be able to kiss her cheek, as if they would if they were a couple soothed something fierce within them. As if Hange had any right to do so.
“Wait-” Y/N was quicker than them though, as her hand shot out to grasp onto the sleeve of their shirt, being strong enough to stop them in their tracks. They expected her to get angry at them, to slap them, to do something in retribution for their actions. They would have rathered she get angry, but the silence they were met with killed them. They didn't want to look at her face, didn't want to see the disgust. They immediately regretted what they had done, and scrunched their nose at the memory now.
Y/N didn't let go of the sleeve of their shirt, instead pulling them towards her roughly. They stumbled on their footing, and couldn't help looking back down at her. They watched as Y/N reached her hands towards their face, and instead of the sting of rejection they were expecting from her, were met with her hands grasping at their hair. In Y/N’s eye’s was nothing else but pure determination as she tugged Hange’s lips to her own and kissed them.
Y/N knew this was bad, knew they should stop, but she couldn't help herself. This crossed so many boundaries and rules they had set for each other in the apartment, but rules always changed. She could feel Hange’s chapped lips on hers, the way they lightly tugged at her bottom lip, as they continued to kiss. Her hands had softened in Hange’s hair, gently holding on to the back of their neck to keep herself steady. It was intoxicating. She had never kissed anyone for this long, this much, but she had also never wanted anyone else so much either.
“This is so wrong.” Hange was the first to pull away, and Y/N felt her confidence slowly deflate at the words. She could do nothing but look down at her feet. She tried to dispel the tears that wanted to form and spill from her eyes at the rejection, she would save them for later. “But…  I cant say that I havent been thinking of you Y/N. What I did right now crossed a line, we both did.” They cupped their hands around Y/N’s face, to make her look at them “I don't want to take advantage of you. You’re young, and sometimes young people don't always know what they are doing or what they want.” Y/N could see them biting the inside of their lip “And I don't want a split second decision you make to be something you regret later on-” Y/N could practically hear their thoughts. They didn't want to be something she would regret.
“I… I know Im young Hans-” There was that nickname again. “But, I've been thinking of you for weeks now. This isn't something I just did right now because I felt like it, but because… for the first time I thought, maybe, you wanted me too…” Y/N reached to cover Hange’s hands on her face with her own, and breathed in. She hadn't realized she had stopped breathing with how close they were “I do want you Hange, if you’ll have me.”
“I will…” They would allow themselves to have just this. To have Y/N. They placed a gentle kiss to the tip of her nose before returning to her lips. It felt like they belonged there. The world felt right in that moment. Like for the first time since they had moved there, there had been a reason for all of the pain they had suffered. There had to be a reason they were placed there, in that moment, with Y/N in front of them, soothing all of their thoughts with just her voice. It couldn't all be a coincidence. It was too good for it all to be a coincidence.
Y/N pulled away from the kiss, though this one was less intense, it still had Y/N feeling light headed. “Come on- I want to… go to my room…” Hange gave a airy and small laugh, pulling Y/N towards them, as they buried their head into her hair. They would follow her anywhere at that moment. If she had asked them to run away with her, they thought they might have, just because of how happy they were.
“Lets go then.” They replied and Y/N felt a shudder run down her back at Hange’s words, as they breathed on her neck. She could feel the intense pulsing in her lower abdomen that yearned for Hange to sooth it, for Hange to do anything to her. She would do anything or Hange… This would be a long night for the both of them.

Chapter 4: Explanations and Important Conversations
Pairing: Professor Hange x Student Reader College AU/Roommate AU
Warnings: mentions of throwing up but not graphic
Yup, another chapter only a day after the third one came out. I already had parts of this written, as in this chapter we start getting into the heart of the story/ Hange and Y/N attraction for one another. Hope you enjoy and like always I’m taking requests right now on Tumblr!
Also- adding the playlist once more:

Y/N turned to Hange, who she noticed was also blushing at the accusation, however, they stood up “Y/N, explain everything to her, I'll head to my room to give you two some space.” Y/N winced at their words. Great, this was just great. Things had been amazing between her and Hange for the past few weeks, and Y/N hoped this wouldn't change that.
“Come sit down with me…” Y/N sighed. She hadn’t even had coffee yet, and here she was trying to defend her honor to her best friend. What if Sasha didn’t believe her when she said nothing had happened between her and Hange? She hoped Sasha would have enough faith in her to know that that wasn’t Y/N.
“So… Y/N are you sure nothing has happened between you two?” She asked, “I mean- this is an unusual conversation to even have with my best friend, but it’s also unusual circumstances.” Y/N didn’t want anything between her and Sasha to change either and the idea of losing her friend worried her.
“Sash, I swear, nothing is happening between me and Hange. Ask your Dad. We are roommates and this is just honestly, a whole mistake…” Y/N babbled, with Sasha reaching out and placing a hand on Y/N’s shoulder to calm her. Y/N breathed in and stated, “Nothing is happening between me and Hange.” Y/N reiterated, and Sasha nodded.
“Okay…” Sasha was quiet for a second and then said “I know Y/N. Sorry, I just freaked out for a second. I know you aren't the type to do something like that.” Sasha sighed and clasped Y/N’s hands in her own, as Y/N calmed down. She was glad Sasha believed her.
“Look, Sasha, you cannot tell Jean or Connie about Hange living here. Especially Jean!” Y/N squeezed Sasha's hands “He would freak out if he found out that the professor we share is living with me. We just became friends and I don't want him to think less of me because of this.
“I promise I won't Y/N! You have my word.” Sasha then stood up “Ill also have a word with my dad- I can't believe he set you up as a roommate with a professor from the school!”
“I don't think he understood that it would be inappropriate-” Y/N started and then added “And I don't think he could have imagined that they would be my professor as well. I mean- there are a lot of psychology professors at Shiganshina University, and technically they don't even teach psychology as their major, I think they do Biology. The university just couldn't find a teacher to teach Biological Psychology.”
“Well still, I'll see if there are any solutions we could come up with.” Sasha looked to Y/N, then asked “Do you mind living with them? Because if so, you could come to stay in my apartment. I wouldn't mind having you as a roommate Y/N especially for as long as we’ve known one another.”
“No- it's okay Sash. Actually… I've grown used to their company. They are fun to be around, and everything has been fine between us. No awkwardness, no fights, nothing. It worked out better than I could have hoped.” And it was. Y/N couldn't have thought of a better roommate than Hange, surprisingly. “I will take you up on your offer if something does happen between us, and I need to move. But right now, everything is good.”
“Okay... I'm down the hallway if you ever need me Y/N.”
“Thank you. Y/N relaxed in the seat, glad that that was settled. She felt slightly bad for Hange now, who had ‘retreated to their room in shame’. She would offer them an apology later on for the whole situation. “So, what did you come over to talk about?”
“Oh yeah, yesterday!” Sasha’s eyes widened “Guess who just got an invitation to the most exclusive Halloween party?”
“Halloween? That isn’t for another month Sasha…” Y/N needed coffee badly if they were gonna start talking about Halloween now. Y/N stood up from the couch and motioned for Sasha to follow her to the Kitchen, which she did.
“Yeah, but this party happens every year and is so big that invitations get sent months in advance! I just happened to get an invitation because Jean buddied up with the frat house that throws it every year, and extended the invitation to Jean and his friends- which is us.” Sasha sat on the counter “I've been trying to get into this party since Freshman year, and now it's finally happening. The clout for just attending can be huge.”
“Well, I don't care much for ‘clout’ but if it's a fun party then, sure, I will go.”
“Yay!” Sasha cheered and quickly started her planning. “Okay- we need to have a matching theme!” Y/N could imagine the boys in whatever theme Sasha picked for them, and she laughed.
This would be good…
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
A week had passed since Sasha had come over and things had slowly returned to normal. There was still a small tension between Y/N and Hange whenever Y/N mentioned Sasha’s name in a passing conversation, and Y/N felt for them. She knew they were worried about Sasha’s ability to not share the information with another person, however, they had told Y/N they trusted her so they would have to trust Sasha too.
There was also the whole idea of how Y/N and Hange were accused of sleeping with one another, which hadn’t even been a thought in either of their heads until Sasha put it there. Luckily, Hange had not bright it up to Y/N- either out of the need to keep the peace within their apartment or out of embarrassment.
Just like every other day, Hange and Y/N both stood in the small kitchen, as they worked together to start preparing dinner. Y/N hated touching raw meat, so Hange was handling that while Y/N prepped vegetables for their dinner.
“Hm? Where did we get these?” Hange asked as they took out the pepper and salt, which were in the Rabbit Salt and pepper shakers Y/N had bought that day at the store.
“OH- I bought those when we went to the store!” She said excitedly, as Hange admired them, turning them in their hand. “I thought they looked like us- Because this one has floppy ears and it looks like my hair” Y/N took the salt shaker, which was painted white. “-and this one has its ears up and sticking out, and it reminds me of your ponytail.” Y/N smiled as she looked at the black-painted rabbit that Hange held.
“I like it!” Hange raised theirs to the light. On the rabbit, they both held signs that read ‘salt’ and ‘pepper’ and Hange got an idea “Why don't we name them?”
Y/N tilted her head “Name them? Hm, fine.”
“I call pepper for mine-”
“Pepper? That's too basic-” Y/N countered, and Hange argued.
“It fits though-” They looked at the sign their rabbit held that read ‘pepper’, and they couldn't imagine another name for her.
“Yeah, it fits cause it's a pepper shaker-”
“I don't care, that's what her name is.” They obviously were not gonna budge, so Y/N sighed and shrugged.
“Fine. I'll name mine…. Chai.” She placed her rabbit shaker on the counter.
“Chai? For the salt shaker?” They asked, and Y/N shot them a dirty look.
“I think it's charming.” She huffed the explained “I had a pet rabbit named Chai when I was little.”
“Well, I can't argue with that. Alright, Cha,i it is. Welcome to the family you two.” Hange smiled and sprinkled some pepper onto the beef. There was a silence that they shared, as Hange focused on the meat and Y/N helped peel the potatoes and zucchini. Eventually, Hange raised their head, turning to Y/N. They wanted to know more about her- their information about her and her background was so limited that the scientists in them needed to correct that. “Did you ever date?” They paused and then realized how their words may sound. Most likely creepy, considering they are her professor and roommate. “I'm asking cause I know you grew up in a strict family, right?”
“Right- Well, I've dated two people, and have only been on one official date.” Y/N finished the zucchini she had peeled and moved on to the potatoes, which were quite a few considering it would only be the two of them eating.
“Oh,” they said, and were slightly shocked.
“Yeah- First dated a boy in middle school. He was the son of my father's best friend and he insisted we start dating to ‘finally bring the two families together’. We both dated for a year surprisingly before he figured out that I wasn't… straight…” Y/N paused and then peeled the last potato and placed it to the side. She stood up and took the pot of potatoes before running them under water to rinse them off.
“Oh, so you-” Hange was cut off by Y/N though, as they cut the beef.
“Im… Queer” Y/N confirmed. It was still hard to admit to herself as through her youth, she was always taught she shouldn't be and it ‘wasn't natural’ but she could never change, nor see herself with a man. “My second relationship was with a girl, who I dated back in high school. We did it secretly until someone caught us and told my dad. When my dad found out, he pulled me out of all the classes I shared with her and forbade me from seeing her again…” Y/N sighed. “That was the first and last time I was in a relationship that I wanted or enjoyed. Ever since then, I haven't dated 'cause it wouldn't be worth it to me to be in a relationship if I wasn't happy.”
“I know what you mean-.” Hanges words caught Y/N off guard as she turned to them.
“What?”
“I also am not straight.” Hange threw the ingredients into the pot and opened a can of chicken broth. “Figured that out when I was in college, though that was only after I started dating.”
“Oh-” Y/N knew they had to have been part of the alphabet mafia, as they went by they/them pronouns, but she didn't know they would be interested in women. Y/N smiled and placed the pot of cleaned potatoes and zucchini next to Hange. “Well, at least we have one thing in common that isnt related to class.”
“Yeah, that's always nice…” Hange nodded their head. At the same time, both Y/N and Hange reached into the pot to grab the same potato, with Y/N and Hange ending up touching with their fingers. Y/N blushed and pulled back.
“I- I should go clean up before dinner.” Y/N took a step back.
“Yeah- it should be done in the next hour anyways. Thanks for your help-” And with that, Y/N rushed off to her room and shut the door.
It was odd. Ever since Sasha had come over and assumed that Y/N and Hange had slept with one another, Y/N couldn't get that thought out of her head. The idea played in her head that same night, and then over and over again. Her and Hange being… Intimate. It was a forbidden thought that Y/N secretly relished in, as she had never kissed anyone, much less slept with someone. Maybe it was because they were so forbidden and closed off from that scenario ever taking place that Y/N thought about it. How would that even go? Hange seemed much too kind and thoughtful to top her, and from what she had heard about sex, usually, one person needed to be dominant and one submissive. Correct? She was so clueless…
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
Classes had gone smoothly despite it being almost halfway through the semester now, and the work getting more difficult. The amount of papers that Y/N had written was absurd but it also made sense as she was going into a very research-based career and would need to know how to write them.
“Hey-” Y/N said, as she sat cross-legged on the floor in front of the coffee table, with the long couch behind her. She had a small hand-held mirror in front of her, that she was looking into as she applied eyeshadow. The setting sunlight streamed through a window from a kitchen, casting the perfect amount of light into the living room for Y/N to see. When Y/N tried to put on her makeup in her room, it was either too dark, or she couldn't tell accurately whether her makeup was blended due to the lighting, so she moved into the living room.
Hange had entered the living room, partially surprised to see Y/N in there and seated on the floor. “Hey. What are you up to?” They asked as they watched her from the hallway entrance.
“Gonna go out to a Halloween party in a few hours, so I'm getting ready. Sasha invited me, and I know Connie and Jean are going so me and her will be okay.”
“Okay, be sure not to drink too much and be careful of your surroundings.” Hange came up behind Y/N and sat on the couch behind her, as they looked into her mirror to watch her focus on her eyes.
“I’ll be okay Hange, you don't need to worry.” Y/N glanced at them through her mirror for a second. “What are you gonna do this evening?”
“I'm gonna stay behind and hand out candy to any trick-or-treaters that make their way up here. I've seen kids around the apartment complex so I wouldn't be shocked if we got a few…” They leaned back and crossed their leg over the other.
“That's so sweet Hange!” Y/N placed down her mirror as she grabbed for her eyeliner next “I'm sure the kids will love that.”
“I hope so. I’ve never done this before so I only grabbed a bag of candy.” Hange quickly took a look at Y/N’s outfit. It was a short Black dress that looked like it was meant to be lingerie of some sort, with a grey bow tied around her waist. “So… what are you supposed to be?” They asked when Y/N looked up to them. She grinned and then shuffled in her spot for a second before producing a headband with a pair of ears on top of it.
“I'm a mouse- duh.” They choked for a second, as they started cracking up. They had not expected that answer.
“Mean girls reference I assume.” They asked and Y/N scoffed.
“Of course.” She responded and picked back up her eyeliner. “I'm going as Karen Smith, Sasha is supposed to be Grechen… and we made Connie go as Cady and Jean as Regina.” She applied her second wing, struggling for a minute with a look of concentration on her face before she approved of it. “I think Regina really fits Jean’s character actually-”
Hange sat in silence, watching Y/N apply the rest of her makeup with ease. They had never been so close nor had the time to just sit and watch the process, and they grew to appreciate it. They thought Y/N was beautiful, with or without makeup, hell, anyone with eyes could see how beautiful she was, but they were impressed by her patience and precision with the process it took to just do it.
“-Hange” Y/N said and Hange snapped out of their momentary trance, and then blushed. They had only caught the end of the sentence when she had said their name
“Hm? I'm sorry, I didn't get that-” Y/N giggled and repeated herself
“I said- It's been nice living with you Hange.”
Why were they feeling these things? It was wrong. They shouldn't be trying to hold themselves back from flirting with Y/N. They shouldn't be admiring how intelligent she was, they shouldn't be feeling jealous at the idea of Y/N one day dating someone if she chose to do that, And most importantly: THEY SHOULDN’T BE LOOKING DOWN THE GAP WHERE HER CLEVAGE WAS. They felt like an absolute pervert just thinking about Y/N in that manner, and disgusted with themself. “Dido.” They replied calmly, masking their internal freaking out.
“Yeah- I always know when my homework and papers are gonna get graded, You make good food, and you are pretty good company.” Y/N put on her mascara now, careful not to get the want on her upper eyelid or her cheek
“Love that you know when I grade things is on that list-” They rolled their eyes, amused at her words. “How do you know when I grade things?” They asked and folded their arms. They didn't care that she knew, but more so were curious how she knew.
“Ah, I noticed that whenever you drink coffee in the evenings, my grades are updated.” She grinned again, and Hange nearly swooned. She paid so close attention to them, to even notice something like that.
“Are you staking me Y/N?” They gave a fake gasp and placed a hand on their chest.
“You wish.” she stood up, gathered her makeup in her pouch, and walked to her room to put on her shoes.
Yes, Hange did secretly wish that.
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
“Sash… I love you- but I genuinely thought this would be a smaller party.” Y/N sighed and shook her head. They had entered the house, thinking the inside might look different despite the dozens of people who were in the front yard already and drinking away. Inside was just as crazy to maneuver through the crowds of people “It looks like the whole campus came-”
“I mean… there are probably some party crashers in here, but it's hard to keep them out so they usually are allowed to stay” Jean shrugged as he walked into the house more, quickly being surrounded by the large group of people in the living room. He was easy to pick out as not only was he tall, but the white shirt that said ‘a little bit dramatic’ and pink cardigan made him hard to miss. He had fought and fought with Sasha on the costume until he realized he would be the only one left out if he didn't wear it. Yes, Sasha, Connie, and Y/N had peer-pressured Jean to be Regina George.
Connie- wearing a large pink shirt and saggy jeans- waved his hands towards Y/N and Sasha “Come on- let's go get some booze-” And they both shrugged and followed him. Y/N doubted they were gonna have anything she liked considering this party was thrown by a Frat house, but free alcohol was free alcohol, no matter if it was shitty.
The party didn’t get any better like Y/N had hoped, especially with the way Sasha had hyped it up, however, Y/N couldn’t complain about the decent music and free alcohol, so she stayed. They all stayed. Most of the night, Connie was with Sasha while Jean and Y/N paired up. It wasn't until Jean noticed the sway in Y/N’s steps that he decided to intervene, taking her cup from her and guiding her over to a couch.
“You okay Y/N you dont look to good…” Connie said over the music, as Sasha chatted to a group besides them.
“I don't feel too good…” Y/N replied and then looked at her friends. “I think… I think I'll be okay-” She started saying and then felt something in the back of her throat. She jumped up from her seat and tumbled out the front door and onto the porch where she leaned over the side and puked into the bushes below. At least she had made it outside, even with the few bystanders looking at her like she was odd.
Her friends had followed behind her, also breathing a sigh of relief at Y/N not puking in the house. “Oh shit… yeah we should get Y/N home…” Connie tossed his own red Solo cup’s contents out into the same bush Y/N had just finished throwing up in. “We don’t want her to puke here again, or on us.” Y/N walked down the porch steps and sat down clumsily on the cool grass and lying down. She could feel her body heating up and the nausea started to begin, even through the tingling that the alcohol caused.
“Hey Sash, ready to go?” Sasha gave a thumbs up, also drunk but not as drunk as Y/N.
“Yeah let’s bounce- I think some of the food in there wasn’t good anymore-“ she held her stomach and Connie and Jean sighed.
“You get her left, I’ll get her right, and we will both lift together” Jean placed an arm under Y/N’s armpits and guided her up from her spot on the grass, with Connie’s assistance. They all piled into Connie's car, which Jean was glad they decided to take instead of his as he was a much older model and in rough condition anyway. Connie was also the most sober out of them all (surprisingly) so he drove. (author note: don't drink and drive guys. I do not condone it and will find you and break your knees if you do /lh/jk)
When they pulled into Y/N and Sasha’s apartment complex, Jean and Connie helped Y/N out of the car, with Sasha climbing out behind her. The alcohol had kicked into full force by that point, and Y/N practically didn't assist them as they helped walk her towards the stairs leading up to her apartment.
“What is Y/N’s apartment number again?” Connie asked
“Hm- um Number Five,” Sasha remembered when Y/N first moved into her apartment. “I know there was something I was supposed to remember…” Sasha said as she walked up the stairs first, holding onto the railing and helping to guide Y/N up.
“It’ll come to you eventually-” Jean assured the brown-haired girl as they climbed up the stairs. Surprisingly, Y/N’s legs moved while they were going up the stairs, with her helping them and making it easier, however when they got to the top, she slumped back in their arms and both boys sighed.
“Is this the apartment?” Jean pointed to the Apartment with the 5 over the door, and Sasha gave a nod. He could see the lights were on and was not about to go searching through Y/N’s purse for her keys, so he opted to knock on the door, hoping her roommate would come to the door. And sure enough, he heard the door lock, and unlock, and a figure open the door- though he was quickly surprised when he locked eye to eye with a familiar face.
“P-Professor Zoë!?” Jean could feel the alcohol exit his system as he was face to face with his Biological Psychology professor. “W-We must have the wrong door…” He turned to Sasha, hoping that was the case, however Sasha, in her still half-drunken state, snapped her fingers.
“Oh yeah… that's what I was supposed to remember…” She said as she looked to Hange. “She told me not to tell you…”
“Bring her inside” Hange sighed, ignoring the situation for now. This was bad for them- another student figuring out that Y/N and they were roommates- especially one of their students. It had been one thing when it had just been Sasha, as she wasn't in any of their classes, but Jean was, and he was in the same class as Y/N. However, Hange couldn't exactly worry about that when Y/N was slung across Jean and Connie's shoulder with them holding her up “I told you not to drink too much Y/N.” They scolded gently as they took Connie’s place and leaned most of Y/N’s weight onto them, guiding her over to the Sofa for now.
“In all honesty- she didn’t. The alcohol was just… stronger than we thought it would be “ Connie intervened as he took a step back.
“Frat party?” They asked and all three of the students nodded. “Yeah, I can get why you thought it would be shitty. Well good on them for not watering it down, but now Y/N is forced to suffer the consequences-” Y/N was lying on the couch, her face flushed red and hair messily surrounding her face.
“Professor Zoë? What's going on?” Hange sighed and turned to Jean now
Hange wasn't sure whether they should give the full truth, or lie. Somehow Lying seemed like the worse option of the two. “Me and Y/N are… currently living with one another-” They forced out of themselves.
“Are you two-” Jean started but Hange cut him off.
“No. We are not… with one another.” They gritted out. Why was that the immediate assumption? “We can talk about this another day. Right now, I think it's important to get some water in Y/N’s system so she can flush the alcohol out of it and get her to bed.”
“Can you handle it from here? We still need to get Sash home-”
“Yeah, I've got it from here…” Connie and Jean gave Y/N one last look before they turned to Sasha, and started guiding her out the door to take her home. Hange watched from the door frame as the boys made sure Sasha got inside her apartment, locked the door, and then left. After they had left, Hange closed their apartment door and turned to Y/N. “Alright, let's get you to bed.”
“Bed?” She mumbled out, with a small slur in her words. They would be surprised if she remembered anything of this night tomorrow morning.
“Yes, bed.” They went to the kitchen quickly to fill up a glass of water and then went into her room to turn on the light and set the glass of water on her nightstand before returning to the living room for her. When they entered the living room again, she was sitting up, though still a little slouched against the backrest of the couch. Hange walked towards her and wrapped their arm around her waist as they helped her up.
Y/N lifted her arm to fling it around their shoulders, clutching onto their shirt. They helped guide her to her room and laid her down on her bed. They wished they could make her more comfortable, though they were not about to start undressing her and putting her in her sleepwear.
They did let her drink some of her water before she officially rested her head on her pillow, earning a small: “Hm. Thank you Hange…” At least she knew it was them. As they turned to walk away and turn off her light, Y/N grabbed onto the tail end of tier shirt, causing them to turn around. “Wait- can you… can you just lay down with me?”
“I shouldn’t.” They gently removed their shirt from Y/N’s hands but replaced it with their hand. Her hands were so soft to them, that they genuinely wondered how anyone in the world could be so perfect.
“You could… I think you should.”
“You do?” They chuckled and sat at the edge of her bed, the bed dipping a little under their weight. They still held onto her hand, as they thought of how cute she was.
“Mhm.” Y/N nodded her head the best she could in her pillow and scooted over in her bed. Hange sighed at the antic, but eventually gave in, laying beside Y/N.
“Fine. I'm only staying until you fall asleep though.” Y/N hummed in response and Hange finally said “Good Night Y/N.”
“Good night Hange.”
Hange tried to stay awake like they had promised themself they would. Tried to keep their eyes open, as they listened to Y/N’s breathing slow down and her light snores. It reminded them of ASMR, sometimes when they had too much on their mind they would put on ASMR in the background to fall asleep. That, combined with the sweet scent of Y/N and her comfortable bed contributed to their downfall, as they closed their eyes and fell asleep with Y/N.
They wish they could say they regretted it, but they couldn't.

This was what Y/N had looked forward to when she had dreamed of college when she was younger. The school workload had been relatively light as it was only the first few weeks. Y/N had managed to lock down a job at a nearby Coffee shop, with the manager praising her interview and letting her know she could start work on Monday, which gave her money for rent and other expenses. And here she was, sitting with her new friend group, eating at Carla’s Diner, and getting to know one another better. She and Jean had briefly chatted after class and through text messages, with Y/N asking for clarification on a few of their homework problems and discussions. Jean- who was ever confident in his answers- helped her. She appreciated it, and wished she could help Jean one day.
“Carla’s is the best!” Connie exclaimed as he dug into his burger, taking a rather big bite. It did look rather good, and Y/N was slightly envious of Connie’s food, as she had just gotten a basic BLT. She hadn't been hungry when she ordered, though with all the food at the table, she quickly grew hungry. She couldn't resist, especially with the way the food looked and smelled.
“I’m so glad you both got to meet beforehand,” Y/N told Jean “Though I was a bit surprised and confused about who you were when you came up to me after class. I got kinda scared during the lecture because you kept staring at me-” Y/N laughed.
“Also- sorry Y/N for not warning you.” Sasha jumped in, and then she took a big bite of her baked potato. In between bites, she added “I didn't know you both had a class with one another and thought you wouldn't meet until today-”
“It’s fine Sash.“ Y/N assured the girl “I'm relieved that someone I know is in one of my classes. I was nervous that this semester, it would just be me alone on a new campus but now there is someone I can talk to in my class.” Y/N smiled and Jean blushed.
“Yeah, same.” He quickly answered and then ate a bite of his pasta. “So what do you think of Professor Zoe?” Jean asked Y/n, and Y/N immediately perked up a little bit.
“Why do you ask?” She responded a little too quickly and internally winced at her immediate defense.
Jean, picking up at the slight tension, tried to explain. He wasn’t sure why Y/N was suddenly tense, but he would try his best to ease her nerves “I think they are a cool Professor, and there are much worse ones. I’m taking Professor Ackerman and he’s a pain. Doesn’t post the lecture slides and talks way too fast to get proper notes.” he sighed as he picked at his pasta.
“Oh yeah! H-“ Y/N stopped herself. She wanted to tell Jean how Hange had told her that Levi was a strict teacher but then stopped. She revised her original statement “Heard another student talking about him. But I heard he does provide a lot of support for students not understanding it…”
“Well, yeah, I can’t argue with that…” Jean trailed off his words.
“Jean just hates asking for help.” Connie offered the explanation and Sasha laughed.
“Connie!” Jean snapped his head at Connie, and that made everyone but Jean laugh even harder.
“It's true dude! You can't ask for help to save your life!” More laughing ensured, and now Jean joined in. Yeah, this was the life Y/N dreamed of when she was little. Good food, sitting at a table with friends and enjoying time with one another, joking, making memories. It had been hard to see when Y/N was younger, but now she could see it.
This was who she was meant to be.
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
“Okay, repeat the mission to me.” Y/N and Hange sat in Hange’s car Y/N didn't even know that Hange knew how to drive, much less have a car. They had explained that they kept it parked in the designated parking spot and usually only used it for grocery runs, gatherings with their friends, or small road trips.
Y/N had gotten home from Lunch with her friends when Hange had asked her if she wanted to go to the store with them. She had said yes, as she needed to pick up some of her things, as well as didn't feel right leaving the chore to Hange alone. She needed to contribute to the household in some way, and paying for half of the groceries felt like a good start.
Y/N looked over at their outfit, noting how they looked comfortable today. They were dressed in a white tank top with dark blue jeans, a cardigan, and ankle-high boots that looked almost like they could be used for hiking. “We are splitting up to get groceries we need for the week. I have the list you gave me right here-” Y/N held up the list. They had made a list together and had split the cost. Y/N would pay for whatever she needed or wanted and the agreed-upon groceries that they would need to meal plan for the next two weeks, and Hange would do the same. “If we run into one another while in the store, we don't even look at one another. Pretend we don't know each other.”
“Good. Make sure to stick to the game plan Y/N.” They took the keys out of the ignition and grabbed the water bottle they had brought to drink while in the store. Wow, they did act older than Y/N, and then Y/N reminded herself they were older than her, of course, they acted like it.
“You don't have to worry about me.” Y/N grabbed her purse from underneath her feet. “We meet back in the car after we are both done?”
“Yup. Okay- let's go.” Y/N got out of the car quickly, looking around as she rushed ahead of Hange, with them staying behind to make sure the car was locked up. Y/N entered the store and felt the air conditioner hit her when she entered. It was nice, as the weather had been hot and so had the car while they were driving there.
“Okay- I should get what I need first…” Y/N looked at the additions she had made to this list, the first of them being skincare. She had needed that for the past two weeks but had yet to go to the store. Y/N walked toward the convenience beauty section part of the store, looking down the aisles before reaching the section she needed. Since she was rebuying everything she needed anyway, she decided to splurge just a little bit. She needed it, so if she spent only $3-4 more on things, then it was like she was getting a deal on it. Girl math.
She grabbed face wash, toner, moisturizer, and some face masks. Y/N also decided to get some pimple and nose patches and threw in a matching body wash and lotion in her favorite scent just for the sake of it. Y/N also picked up everything she needed from the makeup section, including an eyeshadow palette with some crazy colors. Halloween was coming up in a month anyway, so it would get used.
After leaving the beauty section, Y/N made her way to the home goods section. She stumbled across salt and pepper shakers in the shape of rabbits and noticed they were only a dollar. She threw them into her basket immediately, not even thinking about if she would use them or not. While walking towards the cooler section, she looked back down at the rabbit shakers and smiled. They kinda looked like her and Hange.
In the frozen section, Y/N grabbed a chicken and 2% milk, and then also decided that some eggs were on the list. Y/N gawked at the price of the eggs and then cried inside her head at the price of them as she tossed them into her cart as well.
While looking at frozen pizzas, Y/N felt a tap on her shoulder and turned around to expect Hange, however, when her eyes met with an individual who was not Hange, she was startled.  “Oh-!” Y/N jumped back in the aisle as two more people approached her. “Hello- do we know one another?”
“Ah, you and I take the same English class?” The blonde offered and Y/N blinked a few times, trying to recall his face. He wore a green shirt with a black undershirt with long sleeves, and Black glasses.
“I-I’m sorry. I don’t recognize you- but that’s nothing against you! I just have a shitty memory when it comes to faces and names-“ Great. Making lots of new friends with that excuse…
“That’s okay! I only remembered you because you told Professor Zacharius with an intuitive opinion on your paper’s thesis.” And then it clicked.
“You sit near the front, right? I remember you! Armin, right?” Y/n snapped her fingers, excited at her remembrance. “You’re a sophomore, a marine biologist major!”
“Yes! And these are my friends-“ Armin motioned to the two people he was with “This is Mikasa and Eren.” Y/N took note of their appearances. Mikasa dressed more darkly, with a red plaid skirt and black long-sleeve shirt. Y/N loved the necklaces around her neck. Eren on the other hand was rather plain, with no notable characteristics about him.
“Eren Yeager?” Oh- “Is your mom Carla? Like- the Carla who owns the Diner near campus?” Eren blushed at Y/N’s question.
“Yeah.” He responded, and Y/N deduced that maybe he didn't like to talk about it given his closed-off body mannerisms.
“I see.” Y/N said as she turned her attention back to Armin “So, What are you doing here? Picking up some groceries?”
“No, we were in the area and our movie doesn't start for another hour, so we were gonna grab snacks to sneak into the theaters.” He said and pulled out his phone to show her the movie. It read: Attack on Titan: The Last Attack. Y/N remembered it was some movie about a war that happened a while ago, and internally thought of how it was interesting that this group of young kids wanted to go watch that.
“Nice. I wish you luck with that.” Y/N opened a freezer door, the cool air hitting her face as she grabbed a simple pepperoni pizza “By the way, did you finish the paper outline that we have due on Tuesday?”
“Yeah, did you have trouble with it?” He asked, placing his phone in his back pocket.
“No, but it did take me a while to write about my topic since it included some heavy research.” She sighed “I'm just glad I got it done and turned it in on time.”
“Yeah, same.” Armin nodded “Well, I'll see you on Wednesday Y/N!”
“Bye!” Y/N waved and then went back to the list in her hand. hange's handwriting was messier than Y/N had previously thought, as she struggled to make out whether Hange wanted three Potatoes or Tomatoes. Y/N gave up and just grabbed both, as she went to check out and paid.
When she went outside, Hange was already in the car, and Y/N could see the groceries they had gotten in the backseat. “Sorry if I took a while. I ran into a classmate-” She opened the back door and put in her bags of groceries alongside Hange’s and then got into the passenger seat beside them.
“That's okay! Did you get everything?” They took a sip from their water bottle, finishing up the remainder of it, as Y/N put on her seat belt.
“Yeah… but I got kinda confused on whether you wanted Potatoes or Tomatoes,” Y/N admitted as she showed Hange the list
“Y/N… That says Alfredo…” Hange said, their face serious as they looked at her. Y/N could feel the blood leave her face.
“YOU ARE LYING!” Y/N sat up in the seat, as she grabbed the list back from Hange and looked at it again.
“OKAY OKAY- I am lying!” They broke out into a laugh as they patted her on the back “It said Potatoes. I was gonna make a soup with the chicken and potatoes.” Y/N calmed down and then rolled her eyes.
“Okay…well, you can add Tomatoes to that soup because I got both.” She crossed her arms and Hange started the car, driving forward and leaving the parking lot.
“No problem. I think that will be a nice addition to the soup.” They had calmed as well, and the rest of the car ride was filled with the music from the radio.
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
Finally, it was Sunday. Sundays were a great day for Y/N, as she used that day to do laundry and mostly relax. Now that she had her skincare, she could also do that today, and read a book. And then later, after dinner, she and Hange could watch the second Twilight movie- which in Y/N’s experience was the stupidest one, but also the best one.
However, when Y/N awoke, she was surprised by the knock on their front door that could be heard. She groggily got out of bed and made her way to the living room to investigate, slipping on her slippers so that she wouldn't have to worry about the cold floor on her still warm feet.
“Someone is at the door? This early in the morning?” Y/N asked as she walked towards the door. Her slippers made loud flopping noises as she walked and they slightly slipped off and back on her feet. Hange, not having any classes this morning as it was Sunday, simply shrugged.
“Maybe a package? I did order a few things this week but they said they weren't coming for at least another week.” They said, scrolling on their phone as they drank their coffee in the living room. It was most likely they were reading the news, as they did every morning, and Y/N found it funny that they did so. When Hange had asked how Y/N gets her information and news, she had told them Tiktok and they laughed at her.
“Hm.” There was no peephole for Y/N to look out the door and see who it was, and no windows near the door to determine whether she should open it. She figured Hange was right there watching her, less than 5 feet from her, and they wouldn't let anything bad happen to her so she opened the door.
Unfortunately, she wished she had just pretended that she wasn't there, as when she opened the door, she was greeted by a familiar and friendly face, though not a face she wanted to see right now.
“Y/N!” Sasha beamed “Sorry to wake you up, but you won't believe what happened yeste-” Sasha looked into the apartment, and stopped mid-sentence as she locked eyes with a messy Hange, still in their night clothes and hair down. “What the hell?!” Sasha jumped back, her ponytail swishing harshly. She had a look of horror as she loudly asked “Professor Zoë? Are you guys fu-”
“Sasha!” Y/N could feel the blood rush to her cheeks at Sasha’s question- even if she didn't finish it. “We are- We are not sleeping together” Y/N answered the second portion much more quietly, as she pulled Sasha into the apartment to explain the entire thing to her…

Never Ever Getting Rid of Me (Hange Zoë x Reader)
Just a simple one shot I decided to write 😭
Based on the song: "Never Ever Getting Rid of Me" From Waitress the musical (I love that musical sm and this song reminded me of Hange).
Hange is a very persistent suitor.
(thats it- they just wanna date you 😭✌️)
Words: 3.7k
Warnings: slight cussing, other than that none
Tumblr media
“I went on a date” Y/N threw the multiple Keg mugs down with frustration. She had just gotten to work and was cleaning up the multiple cups that had been left on the tables from the nigh before. Another one of the tavern girls said she would close and clean up for the night since she worked the night shift, but she had apparently gotten sick towards the end of her shift and figured she would leave it for the morning. How lucky of Y/N to be in the morning shift the next day.
Another girl- Hannah- smiled upon hearing Y/N’s words. “Really? How was it?”
“About as good as a date can go with a member of the Survey Corps-” Y/N started but Hannah’s head shot up and slightly startled Y/N, causing her to stop
“No-” hannah gasped. “Y/N you didn't!” It was an unspoken rule that the girls who worked there agreed upon. With so many of their customers being Scouts who either wanted to drink away the memories or have a genuinely good time before they might die on the next expedition- it was a silent rule that the girls there were not to get attached to or romantically involved with any scout members. It saved them from the pain of possibly never seeing their beloved customers again.
“I did, and now my poor taste in dating is coming back to haunt me! They are in my section-” Y/N subtly pointed to a certain scout who remained seated at a table. Their back was turned towards Y/N and Hannah, leaving Hannah unable to see their face. “We ran into each other while I was out buying paper for the book im writing, and they asked me out. I know I should have said no, but they were so charming it was hard to…” Y/N pouted, as she explained the story to Hannah. “The date was not terrible in all honesty, its just… Their profession- You know why we don't get mixed up with the Survey Corps.”
“Here, ill go cover for you. I wanna see what made you agree to go out with them in the first place!” Hannah chuckled as she grabbed a clean mug to bring to them. It was rare that people came into the tavern without drinking in the first place- so Hannah had figured the same would be true of this customer.
There were few people actually in the Tavern, especially so earl in the morning. The few who were were either travelers who were enjoying a basic breakfast, or those who needed a morning drink (and most likely an afternoon and evening drink as well).
“Good Morning, How can I help you?” Hannah put on her best customer service voice as she looked down towards the Brunette soldier.
“Where is Y/N?” Hange asked, taken aback with Hannah coming up to their table. Hannah, paused for a section as she examined Hange. They weren't anything special in her eyes, possibly seemed like sort of a nerd, and she internally laughed at how predictable Y/N was with her type in dating. Hannah also noticed that in their hands they held a cute little bouquet
“Ill be taking your order for today” Hannah smiled. “She’s busy cleaning behind the counter since last night the cleaning didn't get done.”
“Thank you, but I really need to see Y/N” Hange answered. “I really don't mean to bother her, but wasn't sure how else to find her. She mentioned she worked here, and I wanted to speak with her about our date a few nights ago-“
Hannah looked to Y/N, which caused Hange to catch sight of her. Hannah shrugged and internally Y/N could hear her excuse ‘I tried’. Y/N sighed a rolled her eyes as she walked out to Hange’s table and slammed her hands down, making those around the table go silent. Before she could say what she initially was going to, her eyes caught the flower bouquet and she blushed. “Please just take the mixed bouquet and leave- just leave!” Y/N practically shouted, as the silence in the tavern made it carry throughout the establishment. She needed to scare them off (even if a part of her didn't want to), so that whatever feelings were developing between the two of them would cease.
Hannah and Hange both looked taken aback by her response. “You get 5 minutes before the boss gets back. Ill cover your section-” Hannah says as she places a hand on her shoulder in a reassuring manner. “Either settle with them to do this later or get them out of here and Be quick.” She shoots Hange a glare as she walked behind the counter where Y/N had previously been to continue the task of cleaning.
Y/N sat down across from Hange, her arms folded on the table as they stared at one another: “Go ahead.” She sighed “What’s your argument?”
“Im a Section commander-” They started and Y/N interrupted.
“So that means you’ll die sooner?” Y/N tilted her head, as Hange’s face didn't even shift at the question. They must have come to terms with their (probable) death if they were so unfazed by Y/N’s unfiltered and rather morbid ask.
“Well yes- but I get better pay as well. I would be able to take care of you-” They responded. Y/N brushed that off, waving her hand.
“Tch, I don't need anyone to take care of me-” Y/N huffed out. The gall of this- this- Y/N couldn't even find the words to describe them! “Thats why I have this job. I get by just fine Section Commander.”
“I would be a great lover” They grinned and added “and consider myself pretty decent to look at.”
“That sounds rather cocky of you, don't you think?” Y/N was now smirking as Hange continued to go on. She had to give it to them, they were persistent. “But you also look like you dont shower regularly. You admitted as much to me a few nights ago.”
“I did for our date-” Hange argued and Y/N laughed at that. What a very soldier thing to say. “Would hygiene be something you would want me to improve on before you considered dating me?”
“Hm- well maybe more regular showers.” Y/N admitted “But thats besides the point! You’re in the Corps. I dont- I cant do that to myself. That would be like shooting myself in the foot! What? I get attached to you only for you to die by the hands of a titan and leave me a sobbing widow?” Y/N raised an eyebrow “Not gonna happen.”
“Hm, you make a hard bargain” Hange now folded their arms, as they started to really think “Would it help if I said I research titans and what they are?” They asked
“Thats nice- but no.” Y/N shook her head now having a genuine smile on her face. Hange sighed and just as they were about to continue, Y/N’s boss (the owner of the Tavern) approached the table, an irritated look upon his face.
“Y/N!” He said, and she stood as her eyes widened. She had been caught. “Say your ‘I love you’s’ and get back to work!” He said and Y/N blushed once more.
“N-No its not like tha-” She didnt finish her sentence though as he cut her off, raising a hand to silence her.
“I dont care.” He said, and turned to walk away and speak to another customer.
Y/N, frowning, turned to Hange. “You should be heading out now, i've got work to do.” And with that, Y/N went on about her day.
•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•★•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•
It was silent the next few days, nothing eventful happening. She figured Hange had gotten whatever they had in their system, out, and had moved onto the next poor tavern girl that would give them a chance. That’s how it usually went with soldiers. They would flirt and go on a date or two with a town girl, then get over them quickly if they weren’t exciting enough.
Y/N yawned as she exited the tavern after a particularly slow day. The sun was setting, and she held the door open for the closing shift as they entered. The door closed and just as Y/N was about to start walking, something was caught in the corner of her eye.
“Huh!?” Y/N Jumped backwards, barely landing on her feet as she slightly stumbled, catching herself. To the right of her, right outside the door, was none other than Section Commander Hange Zoë (which did have a nice ring to it now that she thought about it). They were sitting on the floor, head down, as they looked up when Y/N addressed them, “Wha-What are you doing here? Are you stalking me now?”
“No!” Hange stood to attention, almost as if they were in front of the commander. “No No, I swear Im not! Its just…I was in town with a few friends and… Levi took my horse.”
“Took… Your horse?” She asked, incredulous at the response they gave her. ‘You have to be kidding me…’
“Yeaaaahhh…” They scratched the back of their head “I pissed him off and he left me here… I was just about to start walking back to the base, but its at least a two hour walk.”
“Thats the stupidest thing i've ever heard.” She replied, her face deadpanned “Maybe you shouldn't have pissed him off. Fortunate for you, Im off work.” She looked the other way, down the pathway that would take her home.
“So you wanna go on another date is what im hearing?” They seemed to perk up.
“What?” Y/N snapped her head back to them “No- Stay focused! I can help you get back to the scouts base-” She shook her head, turning to start walking in the direction she had previously been looking towards. “You're helpless.”
“How?” Hange followed after her, now more hopeful at their predicament.
“Ill just get my horse.” Y/N said like it was no big deal “I've been riding since I was a little girl, so I could take you back to the base and get back home in less than 30 minutes.”
“You would help me out like that?” Y/N tilted her head
“Yeah, but you have to promise not to show up at my work again…” Hange reached their hand out, and Y/N took it as they shook.
“Deal.”
•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•★•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•◌•
Y/N had been quick to go into her house and inform her parents of her quick trip, and then came back outside, unfortunately being followed by her mother. “Ah, and who is this Y/N? You've never brought home a customer so that must mean this one is special right?” Her mother mused as she stepped off the porch and towards Hange.
“Mama, im just doing a friend a favor” She paused and the asked “Please go inside-” She didn't listen though, as Y/N’s mother, walked up to Hange, visibly shorter than Hange especially in her older age. She seemed to examine Hange, adjusting her own glasses.
“Nice to meet you Maam. Im Section Commander Hange Zoë of the Survey Corps” And very quickly, Y/N’s mother grabbed onto Hange’s arm, pulling them towards Y/N with strength Y/N wasnt sure where the hell she had gotten. Her mother had always been a frail woman, could easily be blown away by a strong gust of wind. It must be that mothers strength that Y/N had always heard about in stories, she guessed.
“Mama! Your manners!” Y/N blushed at the display, and her mother ignored her.
“You’ve found yourself a nice strong soldier Y/N! A section Commander!” She said happily, and Hange also blushed. “I prayed this day would happen- having someone to take care of you. You work way too hard for how young you are-”
“Me and Hange are not together Mama-” Y/N tried to dispute her mothers claim “They are just a friend” she said, walking towards her mother.
“Really?” Y/N’s mother looked towards hange and shook her head “What a shame, you would look so cute together.”
“Okay Okay, thats enough. Im gonna get Buttercup and take Hange back to the scouts base. Ill be back before dinner okay?” And as she said that, she pulled hange towards herself and away from her mother, trying to lead them toward the horse stables. Y/N’s mother nodded and waved off Hange and Y/N.
“I am so so sorry about that- I didn't know she would do that-” Y/N apologized as Hange followed her once more.
“No, its fine. Its sweet how your mother cares about you and hopes for a good future for you.” Hange smiles. For a second, Y/N turns around and wants to question about Hange’s own parents, but she felt the question was too personal for how recently they met one another.
Y/N cleared her throat, as she approached Buttercups stall. “Here she is-” Y/N smiled and opened the wooden gate. Buttercup, a beautiful friesian mare with a black coat.
“Rather interesting name for a horse, considering buttercup flowers are dangerous for horses to digest” Hange noted and Y/N petted Buttercups mane, as the horse leaned into her touch.
“Yeah, when she was young my father got her for super cheap from a guy in wall Sina who had no idea what he was doing with horses and had fed her some buttercups.” Y/N recalled “The guy sold my dad her, thinking she would die within the next few days and might as well get whatever he could for her before she did. My dad though, who came from generations of farmers who had always cared for horses, knw just what to give her to make her feel better and she was healthy within the next 6 weeks. He then gave her to me for my 7th birthday, since she was such a beautiful horse. Too beautiful to do hard farm work, and worthy of being shown off around town.” Y/N smiled “all the girls in town were so jealous of her. And luckily she is still young- she has another 15 years in her with the way her health is” Y/N smiled and then turned to hange, seeing as they were intensely watching her.
“S-sorry” She looked down, as she started guiding Buttercup out of the stables “I just really love horses” She says.
“Don't apologize Y/N.” Hange stated firmly as they walked towards Y/N and behind her, reaching out to pet Buttercup as well. The sweet sweet horse simply tilted her head towards Hange and accepted the pets. “You should never apologize for what you love. Its what makes you, you-”
“Thank you.” Y/N said earnestly, and then went to grabbed the saddle for Buttercup. She placed in on her back, and adjusted it so that it wouldn't slide off. Y/N then mounted Buttercup, making sure to check and see if the saddle was placed correctly and she wouldn't slide off, before turning to hange once more.
“Its not the most comfortable position, but she could carry the both of us comfortably and is the only horse I have experience with.” Y/N said as she held out a hand for Hange to grip onto. They were fluid in their motions as they mounted the horse, sitting behind her, though she figured that was because they were used to ridding horses themselves.
“Its more than fine.” Hange responded as they gripped onto Y/N’s hips. Y/N shuddered as she scolded them.
“Move your hands higher, I know you can and I know you know that-” Y/N grinned, glad that Hange couldn't see it.
“Ah, right-” hange gingerly moved their hands a little more upwards to a comfortable position around her abdomen.
“Right, lets get going while we still have sunlight-” Y/N pulled on the reigns as she guided the horse into a quick canter. She didn't want to push Buttercup, as she was just used to either Y/N riding her short distances or helping with light farm work. As they cantered towards the scouts base, making great timing considering they were not hitting max speed, Y/N finally asked : “so, you’re a titan researcher? How does that work?”
Y/N could feel Hange perk up once more at the line of questioning. “Yes! Its fascinating work I assure you, and so fulfilling.” They started “I actually have two of my own-”
“Titans!? Are you mad?” Y/N asked, trying to turn her head to look towards Hange. They were crazy- she had almost gotten with a crazy person- she thinks in her mind.
“Perhaps a little. At Least, thats what most tell me” Hange shrugged, again unfazed. Y/N wished she couldnt give a fuck like they did.
“Alright- So what are their names?” She asked and then added “I hope you named them at least-”
“Sawney and Bean” They clasped their hands together as they recounted their experiences. Y/N listened, enthralled at actually hearing what titans were really like and reacted to certain things (aside from how they wanted to eat people). “They also were hard to get approval for, but eventually Commander Erwin relented with my unorthodox methods. Still, they are heavily watched since they are still a risk for people if they got out-”
“you didn't tame them then?” Y/N clutched onto the rope, now concerned for Hange’s safety (great- she thinks sarcastically).
“Who said I wanted to tame them? I think they are perfect just the way the are!” Hange smiled, seeming genuine in their response. “If I were to tame them, then I wouldn't get as much information as I needed out of them”
“But… they could eat you- They want to eat you!” Y/N argues “what if you get hurt?”
“Perhaps,” Y/N could feel Hange’s hands tighten on her waist. “I think thats a risk regardless though of if I kept titans or didn't. My chances of getting physically hurt are reduced, sure, but emotionally, us humans hurt each other all the time-” Hange said, and Y/N could feel the mood shift- “it doesn't mean I shouldn't stop loving people in fear of getting hurt, or not care about things. If anything, the chance of getting hurt but continuing to get another day to prove myself makes loving more rewarding every day. And in the end, some things are worth getting hurt for, even dying for.”
They… had a point, Y/N mentally admitted to herself. Why should she stop loving people in fears of getting hurt? She didn't stop loving her mother or father despite their old age and that they would eventually die as well. It didn't stop her from loving Hannah, even though the chance of something happening to Hannah was just as high as Hange’s or any of the scouts was because of her gender (Authors note: because men suck and terrorize women no matter what they do).
Y/N just nodded her head, not saying anything else the remainder of the ride to the base. She had a lot to ponder over for the evening. They didn't have to wait long as in the distance, Y/N and Hange could make out the lights from the scouts base, coming to life as the last rays of suns dipped beneath the horizon. As Y/N pulled into the gates, slowing down into a trot as she examined where to stop, they both took sight of three figures.
“You cheated.” Levi states as he, miche and Erwin stood outside, seeming to be… relaxing, and waiting for Hange’s return.
“You never said I couldn't get a ride-” Hange responded, obviously triumphant as they dismounted the horse and landed on their feet smoothly. Y/N repositioned buttercup so that she could see off Hange better. “You just said to figure out how to get back to base myself.”
“Tch. Whatever.” he responded as Hange laughed.
“You better go and check on those friends of yours to make sure they didn't get into any trouble-” Y/N said, smiling as Hange continued to laugh. They stopped for a second to look up to her. Y/N felt her heart start to flutter in excitement, just seeing how they looked to her, a way she hadn't noticed before.
“Ah, so they told you about Sawney and Bean?” Erwin mused and walked towards Hange and Y/N.
“What didn't they tell me about them? Don't worry, ill keep it under wraps from the town” Y/N reassured him. “I want to thank you all personally for your dedicated work. If you ever stop by Henry’s Tavern in town, ask for Y/N and ill give you four some food and drinks, on the house.”
“We appreciate that, and look forward to getting to know you-” Erwin stopped “What is your name?
“Y/N L/N” Y/N responded, reaching down to shake his hand. “Nice to formally meet you Commander Erwin.” Y/N readjusted herself as she noticed it was now nighttime. It didn't matter as she was on horse back and could get back home in no time now that there was only one rider and could gallop her way home. “Hey Section Commander-” Y/N called out from where she sat on Buttercup. All four of the scouts turned their head, intrigued by what she had to say “Ill take you up on that offer for a second date after all. Maybe you were right- Might just be rewarding to fall for you after all…”
“Ill make it rewarding for you. I promise.” And with a shake of her head and grin, Y/N rode off, back to her home to eat dinner and sleep.
“Im gonna marry her.” Hange states as they turned back towards their friends. “I promise you all that.”
“Only in your dreams, four eyes” Levi responded, though he also did not doubt that Hange could and would somehow accomplish that. He also knew that they were one to keep their promises, and that gave him hope for Hange’s future.

Notes:

To say Y/N really really did not want to come out of her room was an understatement. It was only when she was sure that Professor Zoë had left for their morning classes that Y/N came out to rush to her own classes. Luckily, her classes were closer to the apartment than the classroom Professor Zoë was currently in, so she could leave later and get home earlier than them. She had even gone as far as to check up the classes they were offering and at what time, on her computer so that she could ensure that she would not have to cross their path, and could ignore the situation for now.
Y/N had just finished a class and arrived back to the apartment. It was a wednesday, and barely 2pm. Professor Zoë wouldn't be home for at least another hour given the time finish up the class and walk back to the apartment. That was enough time for Y/N to make herself something quick to eat and take it back to her room. She pulled out the stuff she needed to make a sandwich and got to work, putting in her headphones so that she could unwind for the rest of the day. Job hunting was something se needed to focus on today after eating, as her savings wouldn't last her for forever.
As Y/N focused on assembling her perfect sandwich, she did not hear the jangle of keys outside her apartment, nor the turn of the lock and the opening of the door. She didn't even hear the footsteps that approached the kitchen or the person leaning in the door frame and examining her. It wasn't until she turned around to throw something away that she noticed her roommate standing there.
“AH- You scared me! What are you doing here? I thought you had a class this afternoon?” Y/N asked, as it was the first thing that came to her. She quickly took out her headphones and set them on the counter as she tossed her trash into the trashcan near the door frame.
“I figured we needed to sit down and have a proper conversation, and well, its only syllabus week and we ended early so I let them go- wait, how did you know that I had a class this afternoon?” Y/N did not respond, her face turning red upon the question. “Did you check my schedule online?”
“Well, how did you know I would be here?” Y/N shoots right back, answering their question with one of her own. “What if I had a class? Did you check my schedule?”
“Yes, I will admit I checked your schedule since I have access to it through the school records- but thats something I do anyways to be considerate of my students and not assign too much if I know they are taking heavier classes.” Thy shrugged and took off their blazer, revealing their cream colored button up underneath. They always looked so formal going to classes, but even Y/N couldn't help but picture them back to the moment when she saw them in only their shirt and sweats. “Listen, I was hoping to catch you before tomorrow, so that we could properly discuss… well our living arrangements. Its highly inappropriate for us to be staying under the same roof together, and if we are going to do this- seeing as I don't think either of us has many options, as most of the apartments around campus are either way too expensive or already rented out- so I would suggest setting some boundaries.”
Y/N blinked for a moment, them two moments before she gave a small nod of agreement. “Great, please sit down, lets start off with some boundaries you want to set with me.” Professor Zoë asked and Y/N listened obediently.
“Boundaries? Well…” Y/N thought for a moment. “I haven't actually given it much thought. I suppose I would ask that you not give me any directions for any actions I take outside of school? Regarding my personal life I mean.”
“Are you referring to when you walked in and admitted you were hungover from drinking the night before classes-” Hange asks and Y/N nods.
“Yeah that. Look, I don't do that, that was actually my first time ever drinking- not that I have to even explain myself to you- but yeah, I don't want you reporting me to the school for stuff I do outside of it.” Y/N leans back, finally starting to feel a little bit less on edge. “And I don't need you babysitting me either. Just… treat me like you would an equal. No “Professor and student” power vibes within the apartment, that will just remain in the classroom or regarding school.” Hange hummed and nodded.
“Those seem like perfectly reasonable requests. I promise I wont insert my opinions or thoughts on your personal life within this apartment or outside of academic responsibilities.”
“Thank you.” She nodded to Professor Zoë “now its your turn Professor. What are your asks?”
“Well To start: I think it would be easier if you just call me Hange- Only inside the apartment though” They started, and Y/N tried it out on her tongue.
“Hange… Thats.. Yeah I can do that.” she responded. She knew what their name was, but this different level than reading it on her computer and referring to her own professor by their first name. Not even in her own mind did she refer to them by their first name. “What else?”
“Well, I think that something important to bring up is that outside of this apartment, aside from you not referring to me by my first name, we do not know each other personally.” Hange raised a hand to stop Y/N from agreeing, and adding “However, that doesn't mean I don't want to get to know you, especially now that we are going to be living together. I do want to be your friend, or at least an acquaintance of yours.” Wow. This conversation just kept getting more and more interesting. Hange- her professor- wanted to be her friend.
“I think I would also like that.” Y/N admitted, as she then looked at her sandwich. It looked really good, and she forgot she had not eaten anything yet. She also felt kinda bad that she was favoring a sandwich over this conversation with Hange right now. “I have Sasha, and I know im supposed to be getting together this weekend with two of her other good friends, however I aside from that I don't have many connections in the city. I think I would appreciate having one more friendly face around. I also wanted to say that im appreciative that you are giving this a shot. I cannot afford to rent out a whole apartment by myself, and on top of that, i've never lived by myself, so having someone I trust and isn't a total stranger living here is nice.”
Y/N could see the small blush on Hange’s face and it took everything in her to not blush herself. It really sucked how much older Hange was than Y/N (and their position as her professor), otherwise Hange would totally be Y/N’s type. A little nerdy, brunette, passionate about their work and caring for their students. It really couldn't get any better than that-
Focus. Y/N reminded herself in her head.
“Okay, how about household tasks?” Y/N asked. She had been thinking of those for the past few days “How do you want to divide those? Ill be honest and admit im a great cleaner but cant cook for shit-” Y/N shrugged. Even when she was at home, her mom had always cooked for her, and so far, living here in the apartment, she has only eaten basic things such as sandwiches or frozen food, or gone out to eat with Sasha. She hadn't even been able to figure out how the coffee pot worked, as pathetic as that was, and she didn't want to ask Hange how to use it in fear of sounding even more pathetic.
“Ah, well if there is something I know how to do, that is cook. I cant say its the best tasting food but its not bad. Definitely edible.” They looked off to the side as they played with their fingers “So this might work out. Ill do cooking and you cleaning? Cleaning referring to dishes and vacuuming? We do our own laundry and clean up our own rooms.”
Y/N hummed in approval “that sounds good to me.”
“Great, im glad we finally worked this out. Now you don't have to hide away in your room anymore.” hange stood up and pointed to her sandwich “Ill leave you to have lunch now. Ill start making dinner around 6ish. I think we have enough ingredients for stew-”
Y/N ignored Hange’s dinner plans and started defending herself “I wasn't hiding away-”
“Sure.” It was sarcastic and Y/N sighed. They were right of course and she quickly let it go.
“Alright maybe a little” Y/N shrugged “can you blame me?”
“Well… no.” Hange gave one last smile before leaving the kitchen so Y/N could eat her sandwich.
It was very good sandwich.
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
Y/N awoke to her alarm going off. Despite sleeping until a reasonable time, she could still feel her eyes wanting to shut and to silence her alarm for at least another 10 minutes. She resisted the urge and slowly rose from her sheets to stand up. She slipped on her slippers, which looked slightly ridiculous given she was 20 years old and wearing bunny slippers, and walked out to the living room. She had enough time to grab some toast and throw on some clothes, she figured.
She entered the living room to see Hange sitting on the big couch, their plate empty of food and a cup of coffee in their hand. They looked up for a second before returning to the book in their hand. “Good morning” they chirped “I made some coffee if you want any, and was just about to leave to get to class”
“Class isnt for another hour and a half.” Y/N said, rubbing her eyes, and yawning. It was apparent she had just woken up and Hange felt almost envious of her. Still being able to remain in her PJ shorts and tanktop, hair messy around her face almost like a halo.
“Unfortunately, Im a professor so I like to show up early to the classroom to make sure the lecture is put together correctly and will actually project onto the screen. Some students also like to ask questions before class so I offer that option as well. Besides, now I need to make sure that me and you are not seen together and showing up at the same time, otherwise that may look suspicious.” Y/N yawned once more, as she walked to the kitchen to grab her own cup of coffee.
“Oh yeah. Being seen together: big no no.” Y/N said and Hange nodded as they took a sip of their coffee, smiling as they drank.
“Big no no.” they affirmed as they set their cup on a coaster so that the coffee table wouldn't be ruined. It was a rather nice one with a glass top and made of dark wood (similar to the rest of the furniture in the room). Y/N soon walked into the living room as they had said that, grabbing a coaster and setting her own cup down as she folded her legs under her on the single seat couch. “Thank you for the coffee” she made sure to say and Hange hummed back in response. They set a bookmark in their book and finally faced their full attention to Y/N.
“So… where did the furniture come from?” they asked, and Y/N looked up to them, slightly taken aback. “Didn't you mention that you just moved here only a few days ago?”
“Oh, my friend furnished the apartment for me before I moved in. Her and her dad, who owns the apartment buildings, have been like a second family to me… They've both always helped take care of me since they both knew that my own parents didn't. They figured I would need some stuff to start me off and found some of these things online for free or cheap, to help give the apartment some life.” Y/N smiled more to herself as she thought back on the many good memories that her and Sasha had together since they were young. Y/N would always go to Sasha’s house for Dinner on friday nights, and would spend the night often. She even went on vacation from time to time in highschool with Sasha. “If you don't like any of the furniture, you are more that free to bring in some of your own things, or I could make some room in here for your stuff.” Y/N said, now concerned. She didn't even think about her own roommate and if the would even enjoy the furniture like she did.
“No, no that was very sweet of your friend. I've always been terrible at maintaining an apartment and decor. My last place had the bare minimum and nothing else” They laughed and Y/N joined in “All the walls had my master notes all over the place, textbooks littered across ever surface. It was bad, so im glad there is someone who knew what they were doing in here… And Im glad that you have connections here in the big city and wont be alone.” They placed a hand on the arm of the couch, and traced patterns into the fabric.
“How about you? Do you have any friends here?” Y/N sat forward just a tiny bit more in her seat. This was one of the first genuine conversations that the two were having between them, a conversation that had nothing to do with the stress of living with one another or their situation. Just simply getting to know one another.
“Yeah, I have a few. Have you met Vice president Erwin Smith?” Hange asked
“No. I mean- i've heard of him and saw him at orientation, and also sees that he signs off on some of the newsletter emails that the school sends out, but i've never personally met him” Y/N tilted her head to the side as she asked “You are friends with Vice President Erwin Smith?” She took a small sip of her coffee, just how she liked it. This was her first time having coffee in the apartment, though it was only because Hange had made it.
“Well I just call him Erwin, but yeah. Me and him go back to our college days. Have you gotten a chance to meet Professor Ackerman? He teaches psychology tests and measurements.” Y/N shakes her head in response.
“No, I don't think I have to take that class for another year or so.” Y/N tilted her head “Is he fun to be around?”
“Hes a real… fun guy.” It was sarcastic and Y/N grinned. “Unfortunately, you will eventually have him as that is the only class he teaches and its a requirement.
“Damn.” Y/N had hopped she wouldn't have any..troublesome professors while going to school there, though it was hard to avoid them she supposed. “Guess ill worry about that when I get there, huh?”
“Nothing to worry about honestly. He cares about all his students and wants them all to do good. Provides a lot of supplemental material as well for people who cant attend every class, are out sick, or just need additional support.” Hange said and then added “He just doesn't smile or laugh a lot in class. Not too much of a joy”
“And you are?” Y/N took another sip of her coffee.
“I am an amazing teacher and you will learn that soon enough.” Hange said “At Least I can crack a joke and make it slightly more entertaining.” Y/N agreed though wouldn't say that. From hat she had experienced so far, they seemed like they genuinely enjoyed what they were doing, and cared about others, which is more than she could say about some of her other professors. That wasn't to say her other professors were bad, but they lacked a certain flare that only Hange possessed and that almost made her sad to think about the end of the semester.
And only Y/N alone would have the privilege of coming home to see Hange, wouldn't have to worry about that flare, that spark, leaving her, and that comforted her more than she could say.
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
Class had gone just as expected. Despite Y/N’s constant paranoia that people would figure out that her and Hange- she mean Professor Zoë (constantly forgetting that thats what they were to her in the classroom)- that they were roommates, no one even gave a single glance to Y/N.
Well that was except one boy.
She had tried to ignore him, thinking that maybe he just thought she was pretty, or maybe her hair was sticking out funnily, all of which she could deal with. There was no way this guy knew her personally or knew that her and the Professor were rooming together. She had made sure to sit a few rows back from the front of the room, avoided even looking at Hange, and Hange had done the same. There was nothing that could link the two together.
When class ended, Y/N noticed that the line of students going up to the front of the classroom to ask the Professor questions was shorter than usual. She sighed as she closed her computer and notebook. She preferred hand written notes as it helped her memorize words and phrases easier.
“Are you Y/N L/N?” She looked up to someone- the guy who had been staring at her, startled. She hadn't heard him walk up to her, and class had just ended, there were still students packing up.
“Ummm depends who is asking I guess.” Y/N responded, slightly guarded now.
“Sorry, I should have introduced myself first: Im Jean Kirstein. Im a good friend of Sasha Braus. She mentioned you were in this class as well and showed me a picture of you. I just now recognized you half way through class.” Y/N felt the tension from her body dissipate. She was still cautious of him, but less so now.
“Oh sasha? Yeah, me and her grew up together.” Y/N gave a slight smile. Before Y/N had the chance to say anything else, both her and Jean looked to the side, being interrupted.
“Is everything okay over here? Do you have any questions?” Professor Zoë looked between the two of them, and Y/N got hit with a pang of gratefulness. They were coming over here to subtly check on her, that much was apparent when they kept looking to her, looking to her body position and her mannerisms. She was just slightly awkward so her mannerisms were being interpreted as her being uncomfortable-
“I believe im good professor. Great lecture today, I got down some good notes.” Jean smiled, and motioned to his bag.
“Im glad to hear that…” Hange smiled as they trailed off. It was clear they had forgotten his name so Jean cleared his throat and replied
“Jean. jean Kirstein, Professor Zoë” and Hange snapped their fingers, as if it had just came back to them.
“Ah, im sorry about that. Im still learning names- and how about you Ms. L/N? Were you able to get everything you needed?” Yeah, of course they knew her name by heart now. She hoped that Jean wouldn't question how they remembered her name over his.
It took Y/N a moment to formulate the response in her head, in fear of making a mistake: “Yeah, I got everything. Thank you Professor Zoë” And Hange gave a smile to her and nodded.
“Alright, thats good to hear, well if there are no questions im going to head out to lunch now. If you have any questions, either of you, feel free to email me and ill try to check it when I get back to the classroom.”
Both Jean and Y/N said thank you, as Hange walked out of the classroom, leaving the door open on their way out.
“So, Me, Sasha and Connie were gonna go out and grab some food this weekend. Sasha was gonna call you later on and ask, but Ill just ask while you are here. Do you want to join us? Me and Connie have heard so many great things”
“I would love to! Here, let me get your phone number and you or Sasha can send me the details?” Y/N asked and held out her phone to Jean. He smiled and took it as he inserted his phone number and name into a contact. “Ill get in touch with you later. And we can even start studying together? Im already starting to struggle with some of the material- biology has never been my strong suit-” Y/N stood up and started walking to the door. Jean followed her.
“Im also struggling actually” He admits and both of them laugh “But yeah, we can study- it will hopefully help both of us. We can talk more later? Ive got to get to work”
“Yeah yeah! Ill see you on Saturday.” Y/N said and he waved back to her as he jogged off towards the back exit where the student parking was. Y/N turned around to head towards the front doors of the building so she could start walking to her next class. As she turned the corner though, there was a figure standing right around the edge, and she walked into them. After a small stumble backwards, Y/N looked up to a familiar face.
“Professor Zoë?” Y/N looked around, making sure no one was listening. There wasn't anyone in the hallway or around the corner, but she still made her comments subtle “I thought you said you were leaving for lunch? Why haven't you left?”
“Ah well, there was that thing I needed to talk to you about.” They said, and Y/N tilted her head, an oblivious expression on her face
“Thing?”
Hange leaned in closer to Y/N, slightly whispering. Y/N could hardly call it that though, because they kinda sucked at it, but it was quieter than their normal tone of voice. “Are you okay? What was that about?”
“Ah, Jean. He’s friends with Sasha. We both didn't realize we had classes with one another until right now. He just invited me to lunch with him, Sasha and Connie this weekend. Everything is alright… professor.” Y/N felt something swell in her as she felt the comforting gaze of Hange on her. They had been concerned about her welfare, which was rare because only Sasha and her father had ever been concerned about her. Her own parents never made it a point to check in on her, and had always dismissed her discomfort as “new experiences”. So Hange, patting her back, and then pulling away, made a difference in Y/N’s world. A difference that she doesn't think Hange even realized.
Hange sighed “Thats good. Well, now you’ll have a study partner if you need any help.” They took a step back, realizing how close they were “So, Ill see you in class tomorrow?” They now were speaking normally and Y/N chuckled
“Yeah, yeah tomorrow” She agreed- knowing damn well that she would see them
later that afternoon. “And… thank you Professor, for making sure I was okay.”
Hange gave a small nod “Ofcourse Y/N.” And with that, Hange made their exit, running into a shorter male figure with black hair. He seemed to be a professor as well, and Y/N watched as they walked towards the student union. She hummed and went on to walk to her next class (which wasn't for another hour, but she could work on an assignment while she waited).
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
Back in the apartment, later that evening after dinner, Y/N knocked on Hange’s door. She had just gotten out of a shower, and had applied some skincare that Sasha was letting her borrow until she could grab her own at the store. Most of the skincare was foodbased, including watermelon scented drops, an avocado cleanser and a plum moisturizer? Y/N didn't mind the scent of any of it, but it was definitely new to her.
Hange looked up from their paperwork, and looked almost delighted to see Y/N. Before Hange even said anything else, they pointed out: “I can smell fruit. Is that your body wash or perfume?” They asked. Their face was serious, and Y/N gave back the same energy, serious in her response as well as she replied.
“Its my skin care actually…” and shrugged.
“Skincare? I didn't know it could smell like that. I've only ever smelt skin care that either smelt like nothing or like florals mixed with chemicals.” Hange closed her laptop slightly- most likely working on work and not wanting Y/N to see.
“Yeah its-” Before Y/N could say ‘its a younger person thing’ (which sounded rude now that she thought about it- actually how old was Hange?), she paused and readjusted herself “Its supposedly trending. Im just borrowing it from Sasha until I can pick up my own at the store.” Y/N was also going to say how her father had completely recked her own makeup and skincare products before she left but felt like that was just too much information for how long her and Hange have known one another. “I actually came in here because have a question regarding the chapter review? Is this a good time to ask you?”
“Email me to ask me” Hange replied looking back down at their work. Y/N lifted an eyebrow.
“What?” Y/N now inserted her whole body in the room, getting a better look at Hange’s space. It was the same size and shape as her own room, with a window overlooking the parking lot rather than the street, like Y/Ns room. It was also slightly more messy in here, and Y/N also noticed the lack of furniture besides a bed and a desk.
“Email and ask me.” Hange repeated, and Y/N put a hand on her hip. She knew where this was going…
“But… youre right here, literally only three feet away from me. Why would I need to email you to ask?” She asks, and Hange finally looks up from their computer.
“Because right now is my personal time, and other students would not have access to me to ask me that question so to remain fair to everyone else, neither can you.” They pause and the add: “now… if you want to talk to Professor Zoë, then you'll need to wait until tomorrow morning around 9am, or until i've had my coffee. However, if you want to sit down and chat with Hange well, im more than free to go and hang out with you in the living room in 15 minutes.”
Y/N thought about it for a second. Then she sighed and asked “Do you like twilight?”
“I've never watched twilight but i've heard about it-” Hange couldn't even finish their sentence before Y/N cut them off.
“You've never watched twilight!?” It came out louder than Y/N meant it to, and it startled Hange that they jerked backwards a little bit in their seat. “Oh, you better be in the living room in 15 minutes, cause we are watching the first movie tonight. I’ll pop some popcorn-” And with that, Y/N stormed out of the room in a rush. Hange pushed up their glasses, which had slightly fell after being startled, and turned back to their computer. They supposed they would have to quickly finish up the creation of one of this semesters assignments, because they had a feeling if they were not out there in 15 minutes like Y/N had said, she would come back and forcibly drag them out.
══✿══╡°˖✧✿✧˖°╞══✿══
“Wow.. Ill never get back that two hours.” Hange says as the end credits roll. They took off their glasses to blink a few times and adjust their eyesight as Y/N turned off the TV and the living room darkened. The only light source was coming from the kitchen, and barely gave enough light in the living room to see where everything was (at least for Hange, as they definitely had worse eyesight than Y/N).
“I mean… yeah the movie is a little bad, the books were definitely better, but I love it cause its nostalgic.” Y/N then added “And its funny to watch. Also it gets better in the second movie.”
“Yeah, I can understand that- and it was entertaining.” Hange rolled their head to Y/N. They used the end of their shirt to clean the lenses of their glasses. “...so when do we watch the next movie? There are four more correct?”
Y/N grinned “Oh don't worry, we are watching all of them. Not tonight cause we both got class in the morning, but maybe this weekend?” She suggested as she placed the remote on the coffee table. Hange stood up, placing their glasses back on their face and adjusting them.
“How about after you come back from grabbing lunch with Sasha on saturday?” They asked. “Thats when you also get together with Jean and her other friend right?”
“Oh yeah, I've got that thing. I almost forgot- thanks for reminding me” Y/N stood up and stretched out, feeling her arms and wrists crack in satisfaction. “And maybe next weekend we go to the store? I know we have enough things for food this week, but we do eventually have to go pick up some groceries, and I need to pick up some of my things as well.”
“Yeah, Im free next weekend.” Hange answered, cracking their own neck. It sounded
uncomfortable to Y/N but she was sure it probably felt nice to hange as well- twilight was a slightly long movie after all. “Well, im going to go to bed now, good night Y/N. Don't stay up, I wont excuse you if you are late tomorrow.”
It was a joke, and Y/N chuckled “Good night Hange, im also heading to bed right now”
Y/N knew this was wrong, knew she shouldn't be so casual with one of her teachers, but something about living with them just felt right. It felt like it came naturally, the joking, the simplicity of it all. She had never felt this way before.
Y/N shrugged it off, ignored the feeling in her stomach. She could figure it out later. Her and Hange had more than enough time to get to know one another even better.

Textbooks couldn’t prepare me for this
Chapter 1: Starting over
Holy shit, a NEW Y/N x Hange fanfic from me in the year of 2025? on top of that it isn’t a one shot? The gods blessed me with this idea (aka Tumblr) and I felt it was my duty to see it through. Its been since 2022 since ive posted a new AOT fic- so I hope you guys like it. To not get discouraged/ to keep it exciting, I’m keeping it under 10 chapters, but yeah, I felt it was long overdue considering I’m a college student and literally have first experience what it’s kinda like. Also- I hope ya’lll appreciate me going back to my psych notes to actually insert factual psych info/ experiments. Ik Hange would most likely be a chem teacher, but I genuinely don’t know anything about chemistry and I wasn’t about to try 😭
If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to add any or reach out to me through DM. Thank you so much for reading!

It was an irrefutable truth that large crowds of people always relied on those around them to determine what was a socially acceptable way to behave. Y/N had always hated large crowds for this reason, as the human mind perceived and recognize patterns in behavior as the “status quo” and to conform to those to avoid being a target. Fortunately for Y/N though, the bus was not crowded, with very few scattered through the rows of seats, also leaving Y/N to have her own row. The drive had been peaceful, and had allowed Y/N some time to clear her mind as the bus turned a sharp corner. Large buildings loomed overhead, and when Y/N glanced outside her window, she couldn't see where they ended and the sky started.
When her stop approached, which had taken Y/N looking at her phone for at least 10 minutes before hand to determine that that was in fact her stop, Y/N stood from her seat and grabbed her luggages that had been in an compartment above her head, and walked to the front of the bus. The drive had only been 4 hours, but it had felt like 24 hours, as the stale air in the bus had been all that Y/N could breath in for those 4 hours.
She stepped off the bus, and as soon as the bus had left she breathed in a deep breath, instantly being hit with the smell of foods from multiple restaurants nearby. This is what freedom smelt like, this was what her freedom smelt like, and it was glorious. For the first time in her life, she was finally away from her family and it felt like an anchor had been lifted off her chest, one that had kept her down for so long. While Y/N loved her family, there was also a part pf her that was willing to admit that they were also constricting. Coming from a small hometown that only had one Elementary school One middle school, and One highschool, the nearest hospital being 20 minutes and everyone knowing one another, there were no secrets, and so it was no secret to herself and her whole home town that her father believed that she shouldn't even attend college and simply get married and start a family.
When Y/N watched as her older sister succumbed to this fate, having her first child at 19 years old, Y/N watched in horror as her once vibrant sister became a shell of herself. Y/N knew it wasn't from having her child, as her sister loved her daughter, but from simply never being able to leave, to explore, and to be forced to be content to live in their small town for the rest of her life.
Right after Graduating Highschool, Y/N was able to get a job as a teachers assistant, all the while attending the community college that was just a few minutes from her home. Her father believed that this job would allow Y/N to become more accustomed to the idea of being a mother, and to finally settle down, but this job instead offered Y/N the opportunity to save for her true future: to afford community college and then leave this town and move to the city of Shiganshina.
She had watched as 2 years earlier, her friend Sasha move to the big city, being able to live in some apartment buildings her father owned that had been passed down to him from his father. They had called and talked every week about the new experiences that Sasha was able to make and the new friends she was able to meet. And now it was Y/N’s turn. She had been accepted into Shiganshina University, and had saved enough money to pay for the first few months rent and first semester tuition.
Her father had tried to threaten her, to cut her off completely from the rest of the family, as she packed her few belongings that she had into two suitcases. But no matter how much he raged and threatened, she didn't need him. She never had. And so sure enough, as soon as she walked out that door, that would be the last time she spoke to him.
“Y/N!” She recognized the voice from the hours of phone calls the both of them had made to one another over the span of the 2 years, as well as the voice belonging to someone who had been a lifelong friend for Y/N.
“Sasha!” Y/N quickly turned around, immediately spotting Sasha on the side walk across from her. Y/N looked both ways and made sure to check for cars before crossing the street with both luggages being towed behind her. As soon as her feet hit the sidewalk pavement, she reached out her arms to hug Sasha, who returned the gesture. “Its so good to see you! I missed you so much-”
“Oh gosh Y/N, its been so long since weve seen one another, look at you! You look good!”
“You too Sash. Its great to finally be here, in person. We wont have to have long Phone calls now, and can just see one another-”
“Especially since you'll be in the apartment underneath me” Sasha smiled, and reached for one of Y/N’s luggages to help pull it. The apartment was only a block down from the bus stop, so the both of them made quick work of walking towards the apartment. “Oh, with that, my dad told me to tell you that your roommate is late and had some problems while moving, so they wont be getting in to the city until later tonight.”
“Aw really? Thats a bummer- I really wanted to meet them.” Y/N says with a sigh “At Least ill have time to make the apartment more presentable before they move in. Maybe go search for some furniture so it at least looks cozy and more livable.”
“Actually about that- I knew you would need to do all of that so, over the past few weeks I found some items on Marketplace for cheap and put them in the apartment already!”
“Really? Are you serious sasha?” Y/N asked excitedly and Sasha nodded. Y/N felt her heart beat faster and a large smile reach her face “Thank you so much! Thats such a big help, you don't know how much I appreciate it-”
“Of course, think of it as your homecoming gift. Besides, it wasn't that hard, my dad helped me go pick up some of the pieces in his truck that I couldn't carry alone, and we had the renovation men help bring it in. All I really did was find the things online.” She explains “If you don't like anything though-”
“Stop there- im sure ill love everything. You know me better than anyone else, and you know im not picky about things like that. I just want to thank both you and your dad so much for this- for this chance to actually live here and for caring so much for me.”
“I've got you Y/N. Im just glad ill finally get my best friend back.” Just as Sasha had said that, they both arrived at the Apartments. Sasha dug into her jacket for the keys, and slid them into the lock- Apartment 5- and smoothly, the door knob twisted and opened. The inside of the apartment was nicer than Y/N could have ever imagined. The building was older- with there still being frame molding along the edges of the walls, reminding her of something from a 50’s home. The white frame molds contrasted against the fresh grey paint of the walls. Y/N then looked to the living room. The dark green couches and glass coffee table all had a very classy feeling to it, which led her eyes to roam the walls again, with there being matching paintings of various scenes. One looked like the beach, with three figures roaming it and looking towards the sun on the horizon, another painting looked like a hillside with a tree on it, the background looked unclear but some parts of a wall behind it could be identified. “Wow- you really went all out Sasha, its so pretty in here!” Y/N traced her fingers on the coffee table and then walked into the kitchen.
The kitchen was simple, and actually very small compared to the living room and hallways leading to the rooms. Two people would be able to fit in here comfortably, but no more than that. With the sink, oven, refrigerator and microwave all being pushed along one wall, and half of the other side wall having a small counter for things like a coffee pot or toaster. A small two seat table fit in the small area along the last open space of the wall.
It was perfect.
—-
Y/N unpacked her things as sasha layed on her bed, talking about how her classes have been in the past, about the city in general and the nightlife of it: “There isn't many parties surprisingly, considering its a college city, but the few that there are during the semester go really hard. In terms of clubbing and things like that, we cant really go yet cause we are only 20, so our only options are either drinking inside our apartments and dorms or going to the few social activities and parties during the semester.”
“That might be for the best honestly. We are here after all to focus on College, and not partying.” Y/N remarked which earned her a laugh. YN reached into her suitcase to pull out more clothes. She really only had either clothes or sentimental items, as while she was packing, her father had taken it upon himself to smash some of the few items Y/N had in regards to makeup and hygiene essentials. She would need to go to the store…
“And I agree with that, but its also nice to get out once in a while… for establishing social connections, don't you agree psych major?” Y/N smiled a little as she put away the last of her clothes.
“I agree to a certain extent. Cant you also do that in a coffee shop? Or perhaps in class?” Somewhere less crowded, Y/N thought in her head, “Im just thinking of the peer pressure at parties like that, and how such a small thing such as someones approval can get someone into a lot of trouble…”
“And when has that ever been proven?” Sasha asked and Y/N was quick with her response.
“Many experiments, including but not limited to Asch’s Studies of group pressure” She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. “The experiment asked a group of people questions in which most of the group were confederates and said the wrong answer on purpose, and even though the one participant knew the answer was wrong would select it just to fit in with the rest of the group.” Sasha rolled her eyes and Y/N added There is also Normative Influence which is when People conform because they fear the consequences of appearing deviant.”
“Okay okay, I get it- The human mind is a crazy thing.” She says and Y/N hums in agreement. “So- now that you are unpacked… let’s go over to my place and crack open a new bottle of champagne that I’ve been storing”
“Champagne? I’ve only been here for two hours and your already trying to get drunk?” y/n asks and then answers “cause if so, it took you long enough- let’s do this. I’ve never drank before, but it can’t be that bad right?”
“No- it’s totally fine Y/N, besides we will have each other to keep each other in check and make sure neither of us drink too much.” Sasha assured her, and Y/N nodded along.
That was the last thing Y/N remembered before they cracked open that bottle…
—-
Y/N awoke sometime later, unable to understand where she was or what was going on. That was until she turned her face from the pillow to look at the alarm clock that sat on Sasha’s messy nightstand.
8:54 AM
Y/N shot out of bed, immediately almost tripping over a shirt that was on the ground.
“Sasha!” Y/N tried to shake Sasha awake but it was a failure, as the brown haired girl slept through the shaking and yelling coming from Y/N. Y/N even tried to take the blankets off of sasha to wake her, but it was a failure as sasha clumsily reached back for her covers and draped them over herself again.
“‘We’ll have each other to keep eachother from getting too drunk’ I guess that plan fell apart…” y/n muttered under her breath as she gave up trying to awaken Sasha and rushed to straighten up her appearance, borrowing some of Sasha’s makeup to make herself appear less hungover. The circles under her eyes unfortunately couldn’t be erased with concealer, still leaving a noticeable outline but it looked better than the discolored mess it had been a few minutes ago.
Y/N had ran to her class, weaving and dodging the many doors and crowds of students entering different buildings. She would once again restate in her mind: she hated crowds.
Y/N entered the classroom, her hair blowing in her face and sticking to the chapstick she had applied that morning, causing her to need to awkwardly brush it out of her face. She was greeted by a voice, which caused her to jump, a little startled. “Good morning”
“Im so sorry im late-” She rushed to say, as the figure that stood at the front of the room looked towards her. She assumed it was the professor, with their dark brown hair placed up in a high ponytail. They wore a white button up with simple black slacks. Y/N could notice their brown coat hanging off their chair as well.
“Its fine, you're not the only one. Its the first day of class and there are plenty of new students struggling to find the building or find parking. Nothing has started yet, and we are just reviewing the syllabus, please find a seat.” Y/N sighed, and turned around before hearing the Professors voice again “Im sorry, I just finished attendance, could you please let me know your name so I could mark you present?”
“Hm? Oh, im Y/N L/N.” The professor looked down at their attendance sheet and traced a finger over it before finding her name.
“Thank you, and nice to meet you Y/N. You can call me Professor Zoë.” They smiled to her, their glasses hitting the reflection of one of the lights in the room, which blocked their eyes from being seen, but their smile seemed genuine and Y/N felt good about this class already.
“Nice to meet you as well.” Y/N smiled and then turned around once more to find a seat in the middle of the class. She pulled out her computer to look up the class on Canvas and open the page to view the Syllabus just as Professor Zoë had said they were doing. Biological Psychology- Y/N read as they went over some of Professor Zoë’s background. They moved to the area very recently, and their background was in Biological science, that was until the college hired them because of the lack of professors available to teach Biological Psychology.
Y/N found the class go by very quickly as some other few students walked in late after her, and they continued to just cover the standards for what the Professor expected of the class.
After class, Y/N had received a text to meet Sasha at a small diner that was around the corner from the university and a few blocks down from their apartment. Y/N saw the bright yellow and red painted building from down the street, with the distinctive name Carla’s Diner written on the front of the building. The diner looked like any other diner Y/N had been in before, nothing special about it, but Sasha continued to rave about the food and how the diner was a beloved spot for the students of the university. Y/N did enjoy the classic feeling of the diner, and how it would make for a nice study spot.
Carla was also personally there and serving food, bring them their plates with a smile “here you are girls” she said, and Y/N thought she looked rather maternal weirdly enough. It reminded her of home.
“Thank you-” was all they both said as they ate their food. Sasha got one thing right: the food was amazing. She would definitely be coming back here for more than just a cup of coffee or pastry. The walk back to their apartment was very calming, with the both of them basking in the last sun of summer, as the season started to change into fall. When they both arrived to the complex, they went their separate ways, with Y/N pulling her keys out of her bag.
Y/N walked into the apartment, and sighed, happy to finally be home and now, with a full belly and now having the chance to relax within her own space. A space she wouldn't have to share with anyone else- aside from her roommate. But that would be fine-
“Hello?” A voice rung from the hallway, and Y/N froe for a second before putting a smile on her face. Her roommate was home it seemed. The voice sounded… Familiar, but she couldn't put her finger on it…
“Hey-” Y/N called put, as she took off her shoes by the front door and hang up her bag on a hook along with her keys. “Sorry im barely getting back. I was here yesterday but then went and crashed at a friends apartment after drinking a bit too much…” She walked into the apartment more, towards the back area where the rooms were, including her own “Its nice to meet yo- P-Professor Zoë?” Y/N stopped, her mouth falling open and her eyes widening. Professor Zoë stood in her door frame, equally as shocked.
“Y/N, right? What are you doing here?” She asked, trying to appear calm but Y/N could also she was internally freaking out.
“I live here now- I just moved in yesterday… What are you doing here?” Y/N asked, though she could feel in the answer in her heart. This couldn't be happening…
“I- I also live here…” Professor Zoë confirmed her worst fear, and Y/N felt the blood drain from her and goosebumps raise on her arms. How could this happen? Why did this happen? Why did it have to be her? Y/N had a million questions running through her brain but felt frozen in shock, like she had been caught committing a crime.
There was a tense silence between the two, both unsure what to do or say. This was a line that wasn't allowed to be crossed when it came to university, a Professor was supposed to remain a distant character, an unattainable person, who a student would never truly know aside from professionally, not… your roommate?! Y/N was glad she had hardly met Professor Zoë this morning, otherwise seeing them in a large T-shirt and sweats, with their hair messily down and surrounding their face, after taking a few weeks of their class would have messed with her head. They looked… good. NO SHE COULDN'T THINK THAT WAY. The only thing Y/N found she had the strength to do was turn around quickly, rush to her room and shut the door, embarrassed.
This would be a long semester.

Would anyone be interested in reading a Hange x Reader College AU fic?
I realized I’m almost done with my bachelors and through the three years I’ve been in college, I’ve never written any college AU fics. If so, what would you like to see/read?
Is a professor Hange overdone? I’ve only read one or two on AO3 of a College AU, so I’m unsure honestly…
Also am just taking any other requests in general, doesn’t have to be a Hange x reader but I would prefer an x reader with another AOT character-

Pairings: Hange Zoë x Reader/(Y/N)
Word Count: 9.2k
Warnings: Mentions of Miscarriage and graphic detail of blood, Explicit content/consensual Smut, Character death (pls let me know if I’m missing any).
Summary: In the year 852 you are brought to Paradis as a way to introduce a new way of theater to the people on the islands, in the form of music. Yes, you are a famous opera singer back in Marley, and are more than happy to accept the offer made by none other than Zeke Yeager. However, what becomes of your life and the fates of destruction which follows you as you make the journey across seas, and become obsessed with perfecting your art to impress those around you?
Tumblr media
Part One:
The sea’s wind whips your hair back and forth as you stare at the island in front of you. Excitement bubbles in your stomach just by staring at it.
Paradis.
How exactly did you get to this moment though? Well it all started with your birth, unsurprisingly.
You had been born into quite a wealthy and powerful family in Marley. Your mother being the daughter of a successful general whose name did not matter. Actually, your whole family's name would soon be wiped away by history and end up not mattering, however that's a story for another time. You father on the other hand had been of Eldian descent, being raised in the internment zone with the rest of people who possessed Elidan blood in their bodies. To be forever abused and ignored by those fortunate enough. It had been one mistake your mother had made, you had been a mistake.
And so imagine your mothers surprise and horror to hear that she was pregnant with you. She did just about everything she could to discard you from drinking a herbal tea which should have killed you, to bumping onto sides of the table in hopes you would pass along, or come out dead already. Nothing proved to be helpful however when you were born, as healthy and strong as a baby could be. In her anger and despair, your mother committed suicide, drinking a poison from off the black market. Your grandparents had been devastated, with the loss of their daughter and the birth of yet another child with Eldian blood. It wasn't until your grandfather had decided that they would raise you as their own in your mothers place, that the real story starts.
You had caught on very quickly that your very existence was nothing more than a replacement for your mother. It didn't help that you looked like her, inheriting her eyes, to the exact same color of her hair. And as your grandparents' minds fell to time, they started calling you by the name of your mother. Not out of malice but out of confusion , as their minds were placed in the past. Your uncles and their children also looked down on you, as they were also in on the ‘big family secret’ as to what exactly you were, and usually kept their distance.
When you were 12, you were enrolled into singing lessons, meeting with a tutor for 3 hours 2 days out of the week. The more years went by, the more those lessons started to take up more of your time, turning to 3 hours a day 6 days out of the week. It was no secret after all and had been discovered from a very early age, you had a beautiful voice. A voice that could be rivaled by no others around you.
And oh how you loved to sing! The way it lit a fire in your voice and gave you a reason to continue the life you were currently living. It's what kept you from running away and making your own destiny. You had started to perform at a local theater, becoming somewhat of an uprising star in Marley, not only for your voice, but for your beauty and wealth. The odds were really stacked in your favor, with generals, elites, celebrities, nobility even from all across the world, coming to see you perform. The elegant outfits you would wear, always paid for by your grandparents whose wealth seemed almost infinite. You truly were a primadonna.
It was soon enough however that an offer had arised from someone nobody would have expected. You did remember this day clearly, replaying in your mind every now and again.
You had just finished your first duet, a collaboration with another famous singer, and had retired to your dressing room that you had found someone already in there. The other person being Zeke Yeager. Though you had never been properly introduced, you had heard talk of him from your grandfather. He was a titan shifter, part of the warrior unit. Someone of great respect as well.
“Ah! You frightened me.” You said, entering the room. He stood there awkwardly, seemingly unsure as to why exactly he was there, though he wouldn't miss this single opportunity to speak with you. “What are you doing in my dressing room?”
“Please forgive me ma’am. I was in the crowd at your performance, and I just wanted to say that you were truly lovely.” He smiled as he spoke his well mannered words, almost seemingly rehearsed. Though you didn't buy them quite easily. There was something off about his attitude- there was much more to him than just some fan who enjoyed her performance.
“Thank you, I appreciate that very much. If that is all though, then I recommend you to be on your way, I will be out shortly to greet fans.” Your voice was even, though you became slightly nervous. After all, this is a titan shifter in front of you, not only that but the lingering fear that he was there to drag you to the internment zone was in the back of your mind.
“Well that is not all… Ive come with a proposal of sorts.” He started and as you stayed quiet waiting for him to continue, he did so “I'm looking for a musician to send to Paradis island, and I think you are the perfect candidate-”
“I- Am shocked to say the least, but i'm uninterested in your offer. Actually, I am truly offended by it! If you leave my dressing room right now, I will not report you to higher ups about your traitorous behavior.” You seethed at him, pointing to your door, urging him to leave immediately . You wanted no part in this conversation anymore, just hearing the words Paradis sent a chill through you-
“But why? Through research of mine it seems you also have Eldian blood… Imagine the scandal that would result from that-'' he started, though you quickly cut him off, knowing all too well where this was going- or so you thought.
“Where did you hear that from?” You quickly frown. You wouldn't let him throw away any chance at a future you had with his words. “Actually, it doesn't matter. Are you trying to threaten me with baseless rumors?” You laughed a little, trying to appear relaxed and sure of yourself, however you couldn't help how your fingers twitched as they were folded in front of you. You felt out in the open with how he so casually spoke of your secrets.
“No. But think of it as a small nudge. Think of all the knowledge you would learn, being connected to your roots. The experience of going across the seas and becoming the first Opera singer from Paradis. You would go down in history.” Now that did sound alluring, you wouldn't lie to yourself. His pretty words sounded too good to be true though, How would you even get to paradis? The island is supposed to be full of titans, which not only kept the citizens in, but kept forces like Marley out.
“It's not my decision. I'm sorry but my grandparents are extremely ill, and I'm their main caretaker, I can't just leave them. Not only that but the island is heard to be surrounded by titans! I can't imagine how you wish to take me there, with those monsters roaming.” you quickly approached your dresser and started stripping yourself of your gloves, as the conversation was becoming quiet irking to you. How dare he come in here, threaten you with a secret and then blackmail you! Not only that but wanting to send you to a dangerous island that your country has been at war with in the past and roaming with enemies? There was no way!
“You don't need to worry about the titans, they are no longer an issue and have all been discarded. The eldians on the island also mean no harm and only wish to learn from us. As for your grandparents, I'm sure you wont need to worry about them, I promise to take care of everything regarding them.” He assured, which only made you more suspicious of him- of why he was so egar to help you and earn your trust.
“And what do you gain from this?” You whipped around, staring him down from across the room. “I know how the world works. What good comes to you from doing this good deed for the people on the island? What do you get from this arrangement?”
“The satisfaction of strengthening a possible alliance to people who share similar blood. Not only with myself, but you as well. Isn't there a part of you that's always wondered what it would have been like to instead grow up on the island instead of here, restricted by a government who would Crucify you if they knew what you were? You wont need to worry about me releasing any information about your past or lineage, but please do genuinely think about it.” And with that, Zeke Yeager exited your room quickly and quietly, slipping out into the hallway, and leaving you to wonder about his words.
Pretty quickly after your first encounter with zeke, your door was being knocked upon by a caretaker who specializes in elderly. When you asked why she was there, she simply informed you that she had been hired to take c are of your grandparents for your “Vacation away”, with their care being paid for in advance. With the sudden solution of your grandparents receiving the proper care they needed, and your schedule opening up, you were left with no other options but to accept Zeke’s offer. However this was far from pitiful, especially for you. In fact, you were beyond yourself. You were so well admired and desired by zeke to bring the beauty of opera to paradis, that it had made you feel as if maybe you were getting somewhere in life. Like you would have the chance to become famous. And no one would miss you or your disappearance. As soon as your grandparents had started forgetting who you were, people had stopped paying attention to you. A part of you did feel slightly bad though, as they had become so adjusted to you, and truly believing you were your mother, they had loved you like a daughter, and all you felt was great relief at no longer having to care for them. Did that make you a terrible granddaughter? It didn't matter in the end, as you left the only home youve ever known, and never turning back. Now all you could do was try your best to become somebody big, not only for yourself or even your grandparents, but to repay the favor zeke had done you.
The rest was a whole blur. The months leading up to this trip, the sweat and pain, and the way your vocal cords softly ached, none of it mattered. You were here now, at the island of Paradis.
You noted that it wouldn't be long before the ship docked, and so you went to gather the luggage you had carried on, not minding the extra cases of outfits you had below deck, knowing that someone would eventually carry them off for you. You also changed your outfit, the former being an old jacket and pants that you had been wearing for most of the ride to the sildand. You changed into a knee length blue skirt adorned with lace at the bottom, and a white button up, finishing off with heeled boots. It wasn't much, but at least made you look more presentable and respectable. The boat was now officially docked, with other passengers, mainly soldiers, exiting off the ship with luggage and cargo. You stood at the exit, as you noticed a rather small crowd had gathered, Ah so they must have been expecting you! You made your way down from the deck to the solid floor to be greeted by a woman with a blonde bowl cut styled haircut. She stood tall, to tilt your head back just to clearly see her face, though it should have been usual for you seeing as you were rather on the short side.
“Welcome Y/N! We’ve been waiting for you ever since Zeke informed us of your arrival date. We are so happy for you to join our efforts to modernize Paradis. My name is Yelena, and this is Onyankopon” She motioned to the man who stood on her right side, showing you a soft smile that made you feel a bit more at ease.
“Thank you, I appreciate you for arranging my journey and welcoming me, I hope I can make you all proud.”
“Oh we should introduce you to Hange Zoë- They are the commander of a scouts, a section of the government which overlooks foreign affairs outside of the walls. Meaning they are also taking care of you and where you will remain for your stay here.” Onyankopon spoke, walking closer to the crowd that marveled at you. It wasn't hard to tell after all, as all eyes fell on you. A person in an olive green outfit, with a white button up underneath and a gem that hung around their neck, approached you.“ Welcome to Paradis! I am commander Hange Zoë, and you must be Y/N!” Their smile seemed genuine as well, making you feel more welcomed already. If you weren't going to lie, they were also rather attractive, as you barely noticed how one of their eyes was covered by a black eyepatch, though that didn't take away from the warm aura they radiated. It was at this moment you were able to tell that they were truly a trusting soul, and would take you very long to become friends with them.
“Yes, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” You nodded your head, grateful for their enthusiasm and attitude towards you. It made you wonder why people in Marley made them out to be devils, when your experience here had already been so pleasant.
“No, the pleasure is mine. We are so pleased to have you come to Paradis and share your knowledge in the art of singing. We have theater here as well, however much like everything else, it seems a bit outdated and we would really like to push Paradis and Eldians into the present in every category we can.”
“Of course, and I find that extremely honorable commander. I'm truly thrilled to be meeting all of you!” You introduced yourself to the crowd of soldiers and civilians. It wasn't very hard to win them over, with your Charming looks and polite manners, people always seemed to swoon at your feet. And as you walked towards the train car waiting for you, and as you did so stepping off the doc and almost tripping, hange quickly reached out for you, taking your hand and steadying you before letting go.
“Careful there! Well let's get you settled in then so that you can get acquainted with the area and surroundings as well as the island.” They let out a small laugh with a grin and placing a hand on your back as they helped you board the train.
You had settled down into the room provided for you, and it was most definitely a furnished and lavish room, provided by the queen herself. Wow, You had even caught Queen Historias attention, it was amazing what an ego boost that was. After setting down your things, you quickly approached a guard in your area, which happened to be a boy you had saw earlier when you arrived:
“Hello! Armin was it?” You waved, with your other hand behind your back. It was a little awkward given you hadn't been here for long yet, and felt slightly bad for bugging already “Where might I find a place to do my warm ups? I suppose I could do it in my room, but that’ll bother anyone in earshot.Especially since it gets quite noisy at times.”
“Oh- I'm not too sure actually- well there is one place I can think of… Though it's outdoors, is that ok?” He asked. Luckily he seemed rather polite, and you nodded
“More than perfect.” you responded eagerly.
And so you had spent the last few days practicing and warming up your voice to be able to handle the higher and lower notes that didn't come naturally to you. You had nearly perfected the pitch that was part of a certain song you were to perform later on tomorrow evening when you stopped. You hear a rustling in the bushes and are immediately put on guard, slowly approaching it, and pulling back the shrubbery. To your shock you find Armin and a few of the other scouts who were first there to greet you. If you were correct, their names were Sasha, Connie and Jean.
“Um hello- May I help you?” You asked nervously. Why were they hiding in a bush? And more importantly, if these were truly soldiers and used to slay titans, how were they so terrible at keeping quiet in a bush? It almost made you laugh at the sight of Sasha and Jean slapping the back of Connie's head, with Armin shaking his head. Shasha quickly shot up, holding her hands up.
“Please don't mind us! We thought we would get a glimpse of the artist in her natural environment. We’ve been so excited! We had seen your poster when we visited Marley, and it feels so unrealistic that you're standing in front of us now.” Sasha gushed to you, and so you gave a small chuckle at her excitement.
“Wow! I never would have imagined that you had ever taken notice of me at all- i'm also extremely delighted to be here, and to be able to perform for you all. You can sit off to the side if you sincerely wish to watch me practice instead of in a bush, though I can't promise that it will be anything special.” you said. They decided to sit at the base of a nearby tree, sitting on their knees or crossed legged, laughing with one another and then becoming quiet as you started your practices once more. As you began to sing again, something felt off about you- about the way you hit the notes. As they continued to stare at you from such a close distance, you became nervous. By why!? They were kids and you had performed for theaters packed with people before- You shouldn't be feeling like this.
You can do better- be better dammit! Your voice isn't loud enough, Your timing is off, those stares at you are from horror at what you sound like. You aren't good enough-
It's almost as if you could hear him in the back of your mind. His deep voice, replaying those words that seemed as if they were from so long ago, when in reality it has been at most a year since you had seen him. Though you quickly came to a pause of your aria- as you felt something in your throat, though no matter, you continued.
The feeling persisted however, which you had tried to clear and were unsuccessful, as you ran off to the side and crouched down, hands on your knees and started to spit. It's difficult to ignore the crimson red splatter that fell from your mouth and onto the dirt, with you whipping your mouth with your sleeve. You didn't stay for long, as much as you would've liked the rest, standing up and placing that smile back on your face as usual. It was all just a big play anyways- what did it matter if it destroyed you in the end. The curtains would close on you, and you would remain perfect as usual.
“Ah! Please forgive me!” You say, the concerned looks of the scouts apparent on their faces. “I just need a cup of tea. Afterward I will return and continue on practicing.” you didn't break in your act, remaining calm and unaffected, even though your throat burned like absolute hell.
“Please- I'm sure it must hurt. You should rest-” Armin stood up and approached you, the others following and approaching the small clearing which you had been using as a stage.
“No! No, I don't need rest, it's just a small thing- I just need some hot tea and it will be better.” You quickly raised your hands and stepped back. You weren't weak, and wouldn't act as such. You had gone days and days without breaking before while maintaining those higher notes, so why did your throat decide to betray you now? Especially in front of an audience, of all things!
You felt as if they were perhaps pitying you- or seeing you as less than in that exact moment. No, You were chosen to be here, you had to be better!
“Why don't you and I grab some tea then?” A voice came from the entrance of the field, causing everyone to turn their attention from you to said voice. The voice belonged to no one other than the commander themself- Hange Zoe.
Part Two:
Commander Hange had brought you to a small cafe that resided right outside of wall sina in a smaller town. The town didn't have as many people as it had used to ever since Shiganshina and Wall Maria had been reclaimed, and so they liked to spend any breaks of time off there, at least that's what Hange had told you. You must admit, it was a rather pretty place, with it being mid-summer season, besides the fact that there wasn't a lot of sun out at the moment, and allergies seemed to not be as big of an issue on paradis as it was back on the mainland.
“Allergies?” they asked, curious as to the new word when you had mentioned them, as you sipped on some sort of tea you were unfamiliar with. It had a very fruity taste, but it didn't taste familiar at all, and so you had assumed that maybe they had their own type of fruit on the island as well. You looked up at them and nodded.
“Yea? You don't have them here? It's like when you keep sneezing and can't stop sneezing, and your eyes water up and sometimes get red.” You described, using hand motions to motion to your eyes.
“Do you mean… when you get sick?” They asked, looking at you as if you were speaking a foreign language- which you suppose you kinda were?
“Eh, not exactly. It doesn't happen because you're sick, but because of the pollen from things like flowers and trees, because they are blooming.” you say
“Ah- then no, I'm not too sure. We don't really have ‘allergies’ then.” They shrugged and you gaped.
“That is so unfair! Do you know how many of my springs and summers have been ruined due to something as stupid as allergies?”
“Well, hopefully now that you are here, it won't be ruined anymore, at least not this one. Which is great because if you and I are going to be spending more time, we won't have to worry about these allergies” and at their words, a blush crosses your face. Luckily because you were in a more shaded place, you hoped it was less apparent on your face. Their words were not very much, but for some reason they made you happy
“Now, all that leaves me wondering is why are you pushing yourself so hard?” And their sudden question catches you off guard. It was true you had been working way harder than you originally had back in marley, but you had never really thought about it. Was it because your conscience had been a lot clearer ever since you no longer had to worry about your grandparents? Or could it be that… possibly… you wanted to impress the people on the island a lot more than people in Marley?
“I-Because I want to become something.” You state plainly, and don't elaborate too much. However Hange didn't yield, they kept at it, their curiosity becoming apparent.
“But you are still young Y/N, there are so many years ahead of you, you don't need to be perfect-”
“No-I want to be great or nothing- And I won't be some second class singer! I refuse! Even if that means sacrificing a few things, like my throat-” You said, as a matter of fact. They gaped at you, causing you to blush “Im- Im sorry, please forgive my outburst-”
“No- please don't apologize. I know how you feel in a sense…” They then looked down at their empty cup, seeming to have drunk it all already as the both of you talked “It's just that I thought the same way when I became commander… It was after the death of my close friend, who was the commander of the scouts before me. I also thought that I had to be great or I would be considered nothing, and it's hard to follow that kind of logic. What I'm trying to say is you shouldn't be too hard on yourself Y/N.”
“...Thank you Commander.”
“Please- Just call me Hange.” And just at that moment, you felt the sun really shine
The tea between the two of you was two weeks ago, and mainly due to both of your busy schedules, you rarely saw each other. You did see each other during dinner, which you would frequently eat together unless you sat with Armin and Mikasa, or passed each other through the hallways. However you just couldn't get your conversation out of your head. You two had actually related- someone knew what it was like to constantly try to be perfect- what more, is that they didn't expect that from you. Ever since you had arrived on this island, you felt that your whole being from your appearance to your personality, was one big lie. A continuous play that you had simply memorized the lines to.
However that one conversation, the day you spent with hange- the tea. It all felt so real and warm. You wanted more of it.
You had only had alcohol once, and when you had taken that one sip of it, you cringed and put the cup down. It was awful- how could people become so addicted, so attached to a substance like it. It was only after talking with Hange that you understood exactly how addicting something could be. How addicting they were. And you had barely had a taste of them.
The only time you were able to dispel Hange out of your head was when you were performing. Your performance always had your full attention, the audience and their fractions, it was all so thrilling that Hange was a distant thought, however they always hovered in the back of your head.
Constantly.
It was actually quite irritating if they were so cute.
They once more were back at the center of your thoughts once you reached backstage. The bustling and business or it didn't help, as you tried to make it back to your dressing room. It was only once you were inside of it, that you slumped your shoulders and relaxed a bit. This being one of the only rooms that you had to yourself and don't have to worry about seeing other people.
You sat at your vanity, and started to take off the layers of makeup on your skin. The heavy makeup was needed, especially for people to be able to see your expressions from afar. The harsh contouring and blush looked rather freaky up close. Once it was all off, you hear a knock on your door, and get up to open it.
And then there they were, standing before you with a bouquet of flowers in hand. What kind were they? You were unsure, since you had never had a knack with plants, and paradis had different types of flowers than Marley was able to grow. But it didn't matter. They looked at you as if you were the most beautiful thing they had ever seen, which wasn't hard to doubt since you had brought with you some of the most exquisite dresses you've ever performed in, the current one you were adorned in green, the colors of the scouts. At that moment, you were also extremely relieved that you had had the time to take off your makeup.
“Hange.” you spoke softly, standing straight up as you were taught to, and approaching them. They were dressed in a suit, the same color as their regularly uniform outfit, only more in a fashion style that people in Marley wear- more modernized to the outside world.
“I brought you these- I was informed that this is the polite thing to do for a performer, and may I say, you were absolutely fascinating on the stage! I've never heard anything like it. It's something I'm sure not only I, but others will never forget.” Their words sounded genuine, and you couldn't help but the blush that spread to your face. I mean what else were you supposed to do when such an attractive commander praised your art?
“Thank you, they are beautiful, and much appreciated.” You took the flowers that they held out, and took a small sniff of their fragrance. It was a habit you had become used to, even though you particularly didn't care for floral scents, however these smelt absolutely amazing, and so you were extremely delighted. “Please, come in. It's a bit of a mess in here” You held your dressing room door open for them, allowing them to pass you and enter.
As they entered, you mentally shamed yourself for not picking up and folding your outfit from before, however you were in such a rush you figured you would fold it after the performance. It also didn't help that you had shoes and other belongings thrown about- You were never a tidy person, something your grandparents had scolded you for, but soon stopped after they were too old to climb the stairs and as such no longer able to come into your room.
“What brings you here commander?” You asked, with a small smile, and they could see you were just teasing them, so they didn't even bother to correct you.
“I've just come to visit and see how the most Exquisite singer on Paradis is doing?” They said, rather casually despite the small blush on their cheeks that give away their thoughts
“I've been doing fine. How about you? Its been a while since we've spoken like this.”
“Much better, now that I've seen you. It's always relaxing to hear you perform.” They step a bit closer to you, and you take a step back. It's really a game of teasing, and you weren't about to let them win, despite their competitive nature. “ You have such a way with music.”
“Well…I am simply doing what I love and value close to me.” You say, and it wasn't one hundred percent a lie necessarily.
“Still it's truly admirable.” They continued on with their compliments towards you.
“Ah please commander- you continue to praise me.” You hid your face behind your hand, glancing away from them. You turned towards your dressing room vanity to double check your face as well as hide it from them, however the footsteps that approached from behind you, and the figure looming over you, so close you could feel them breath down your neck, stopped you.
“Beautiful- your devotion to what you do… it’s stunning.” It’s almost as if you could feel their words enter your mind, your very soul, though that should have been impossible given you had tried very long ago to close it off. “We are nothing but the same, you and I. I know you feel it as well.” Their whispers tickled your ear, igniting something deep inside you. You quickly turn around to face them, their imposing form standing over you, though not at all deterring you away from staring straight into their eyes.
“I do. I do feel it-” And just as quick as those words had exited your mouth, their lips crashed onto yours, hard and warm, soft and light all at the same time. Their lips were also slightly chapped, however you couldn't find yourself really caring, all you could focus on was not falling over as the world had started to become more and more dizzy.
It seemed that you had been the loser in this game.
They broke from your kiss, to pay attention to your neck, going down further and further until they reached the start of your dress.
They tried to remove the backing of your dress, however it was becoming extremely hard with the way you kept pestering them for kisses. Kissing their face, their forehead, their hair, neck and shoulders, anywhere you could reach. Their very smell was intoxicating, the smell of white tea and earthy undertones, drawing you to pull them closer. Eventually they were able to get the buttons on your back undone, pulling off your dress. Before you could even cover your chest, they were on you, absolutely covering your body with theirs, and you found that you didn't mind it at all. They slipped the rest of the dress off and threw it off to the side.
“I'm sorry darling, as much as I adored the way you fit in that dress, I absolutely adore your bare body even more- '' They quickly wrapped their arms underneath your bottom and picked you up, releasing a squeal from you. They then set you on the couch that resided in your dressing room, and climbed on top of you, being that was the only way for you to both fit on the couch.
Your hand quickly shoot up to your mouth to silence your moans- It was bad enough they were able to bring you to an orgasm so quickly, you didn't need their ego to get bigger with the idea that they were just that good, even
“I want to hear that pretty little voice- don't deprive me of it.” they whined and gently removed the hand you had placed over your mouth, holding it with theirs as they kept the other between your legs.
“I-I would hardly…say Im depriving you of it! You come to every performance.” The words tumbled from your mouth, but were getting increasingly harder to say. They didn't respond, instead deciding to elicit another noise from you by moving their fingers a certain way inside you.
“Oh! I liked that one! here lets try it again-” They once again repeated the action, resulting in the same noise coming out of your mouth. Your face was absolutely red, and there was no hiding it with the way hange held down one of your hands and was sitting over you. You were absolutely ashamed with yourself
“You sing so beautifully-” They sighed into your chest, pressing kisses into the skin, and paying special attention to your nipples “Such a pretty little thing” The words they spoke only turned you on more, causing you to squeeze your legs together and keep their hand from exiting you.
“So you respond to praise? Wow- you truly are something else huh? No matter, I'm more than happy to comply with your wishes.” They kissed the top of your forehead, only making you bury your face into the crook of their neck to avoid them seeing the absolute sinful expressions on it. They didn't try to move you however from your possession, which you were thankful for, and more relieved they didnt stop any of their administrations on your lower half. It wasn't long before they were making you scream almost at the top of your lungs for them to bring you to your release, which they did happily.
As you laid on the chair, head tilted back and eyes closed, relaxing in the post haze of orgasmic bliss, did you start to feel them adjust their position and their lips once more back on your collarbones and chest.
“You seem to like a particular spot-” you commented smugly, finally lifting your head to look down on them.
“I could think of some other place I'd like to kiss more- if you catch my drift…” They grinned, a wide grin that made your stomach bubble with excitement and fulfillment.
“You are a dork! The way you can just say that so casually-” you scoffed, clearly amused by their attempts at flirting with you. They chuckled as well, bringing you in for a kiss once more. Your night with them didn't end there, it actually was just the start- however as it went on, it became so consuming and felt so good that it had just become one dizzy blur after the other in your memories.
After that night, You and Hange were practically inseparable from each other. When your time wasn't filled with practice after practice of new musical numbers, Hange occupied it. It just so happened that the both of you contained a fairly busy schedule, and so no hurt feelings came from either of you when the other was unable to be around. But when you were both together, you had the most amazing times in your life. Their voice had become one of the only things you would genuinely listen to besides those of melodies, And your moans had become their favorite type of music.
Which is why you had made the ultimate decision. You truly wanted to be with them- to spend the rest of your life like this. You could see them being an attentive partner, and they brought so much relaxation and calmness to you, all while making it fun and exciting- you'd never felt this way about anyone. This must be what people described as true love in Marley! And that's when it hit you: you would need to inform zeke on the news, the change of plans, and that you probably would bring a stop to your career- at least for now. The letter wasn't easy to write, constantly rewriting it over and over and over until it all blended together and all the letters sounded the exact same to you.
Part Three:
Zeke,
I think you will find fulfillment in what I've done. It's exactly as you have asked, I've bought music, opera to the people of paradis. Along the way I've become a better musician as a result, learning more and more about the art in it, and I'm extremely grateful for it, however I believe that after the upcoming performance, I will take a break from it all. I've worked hard to get to where I am, and am content. Please don't think of me as selfish for deciding this without first confiding in you. I want to let you know by my own writing before you hear any rumors- I am currently romantically involved with someone, the commander of the scouts actually. They've inspired me so much throughout this whole process, and I've found myself wanting to grow closer to them. I think I could have a happier future than my dreadful past, with them in it. I thank you for all that you've done, and hope that you could forgive me one day and stay acquaintances.
Forever your friend,
Y/N L/N
You had finished and sealed the letter, looking it over one last time from the outside. Did you truly want to send this letter? You thought you were doing what you had earned, a peaceful life, however some bittersweet feeling lingered behind it. What if you were making a mistake? You were at the peak of your career and it was no doubt Zeke would not be pleased with your choice either. You didn't even receive a response from Zeke until roughly a month after the initial letter you had sent. This didn't alarm you, as mailing systems to the island were very limited and took roughly a few weeks to even go through and boarded onto a boat that would be heading this way. However, as you opened it, you felt something twist in your stomach as you glossed over the words.
Y/N
You are exactly as I imagined you were. You pushed yourself to become better, however you are still far from it. I warn you, If you are to take this break there is no guarantee you will ever return to the stage. You know as well as I do that if you stop now, you are losing all of the potential, the fame that you had worked so hard for, and letting it all go. Do not make that mistake. Don't be distracted by those around you, especially the commander of all people. You have a duty, doing something you love, and to give it all up now for something as trivial and forever changing as love is foolish. Fame is what will immortalize you in history, to be forever young and beautiful, don't forget that I said that. I hope that you make the right choice Y/N, But for now I will be unable to continue on this journey with you. I wish you the best with whatever you do.
- Zeke Yeager
You read the letter again and again until the words just jumbled inside your head. You decided then that you were correct, you had made the wrong decision. Zeke was correct as usual- why ruin all that you've worked towards in favor of love? It didn't make any sense… had you truly written and sent that letter? You stood from your desk in a hurry, alarmed and frightened. You felt as if maybe you were losing it. Pacing your room was all you could do as you debated on your next move, whether or not you would stop your career for Hange, or continue on. You had already come to the swift conclusion that you could not have both, Hange though lovely, was extremely distracting and too soft on you. But they have also become your main muse of inspiration. What a tricky situation indeed.
As you passed by one of the mirrors in your room, something caught your eye, and you backtracked quickly, horrified at what faced you. In the mirror stood your mother, But why? What was she doing here? As you turned around lifting a hand, she followed the same motions, her eyes blinking as yours did.
“Stop… please.” you whispered under your breath and backed away, with her following your motions “Im sorry ok? I… Why are you here?” she didn't answer though, as she stared back at you with the same angry and scared expression. You wanted it to stop- why couldn't she just leave you alone!? She had always followed you growing up, with you being in her constant shadow, and here she was to cast you in her shadow once more. “Leave me alone!” You screamed and grabbed the vase that held the flowers Hange had first given to you, throwing it at the mirror, and shattering not only the mirror but the vase as well. When her gaze was gone, you returned to reality, and noticed the shards of glass from the mirror and vase around you.
Shit, I have to clean this up before somebody comes in…
As you rush to cover up your accident, you feel a sharp sting in your hand as you pick up one of the glass shards. Only when the warmth trickles down your hand do you realize youve cut yourself. Not deep enough to need a stitch luckily- but just enough to where it hurt like shit. As if luck wasn't on your side, you hear a knock on your door. The famous Hange-like knock that left a little tune. And before you could yell out for them to not enter, they were opening the door.
“Dear- Wha-what happened!?” They ran to your side to inspect you and make sure you weren't seriously injured, and as they looked you over, they caught sight of your hand. “Come on-” they picked you up “We need to get that cleaned and bandaged”
“Hange- the glass-” you looked down at the mess, and truly started to feel awful for the scene and mess you had created. They didn't deserve to be dealing with this.
“Don't worry about that for now- I'll carry you so you don't cut your feet on it.” They replied, and carried you to your bed. “I'll be right back, I need to go get some bandages. Don't move.” And soon they were gone.
You sat there, trying to make sure the blood did not drop onto the floor and instead holding it in your lap, where it sank into the nightgown you were wearing instead. Something like that could be easily replaced. It was only once they came back, you felt tears stream down your face. How could you have such selfish thoughts? Here they were, helping you without any anger on their face, only concern. And you were doing it to them. You were hurting them. They returned promptly as they said they would, bandage and towel in hand.
They took your hand that was cut, applied the damp towel on it and tried to clean most of it as they then applied the bandage. “Tell me if i'm wrapping your hand up too tight-” They said as they continued on, and all you could do was stare at them blankly and respond with a small:
“It's fine. Thank you.”
They looked up to you, nervous about your quietness, and what could have caused the mess in your room. Luckily, they knew better than to just start asking questions, especially if it was something that had affected you to such great lengths and keeping you reserved.
“Come on. You can come stay in my room tonight- This probably won't be able to be cleaned until tomorrow and I don't feel comfortable with you sleeping in your room with broken glass on the floor.” They lifted you to your feet, grabbing one of your robes and draping it over your form, and leading you out into the hallway. You just leaned onto their arm and followed them, soundlessly. It wasn't until you were in their room, and placed into bed with them at your side that you started talking though, placing your head into the place where their neck and shoulders connected and placing some rather suggestive kisses-
“Y/N- I don't…” Hange started but were cut off by your words. You knew what they were going to say- that you should get some sleep, that you weren't in the right state of mind right now, but it didn't matter.
“I'm sorry- please though… I want you.” you whispered to them, and they allowed you to have your way with them that night. After it was done, and both of you were satisfied, you laid in their arms, thinking about how this was the last time you would ever lay there again.
—-
It had been nearly one week since that incident.
You looked at your reflection in the mirror very slowly. Lately all you had been seeing was visions of yourself as your mother, and had blamed the lack of sleep as a result. Nothing a little makeup powder couldn't fix though, as you applied it to your face evenly. This was one of your biggest shows yet- just then you heard that knock on your door- the one that you had once would do anything to hear, only made you dread what was to come now. They were here, and you needed to get things over with…
The door opened and they let themselves in, hearing a gasp as you turned around in your seat to face them. “You look beautiful… like something from a dream-”
“Thank you Commander.” You gave them a small smile, however they could tell that it wasn't genuine as it usually was. You were smiling through the pain, like you usually did with others, and it pained them to see you like this.
“Y/N” They said softly, stroking your face, and you almost wanted to lean into them. Just let them take away the pain. But you couldn't. You had a focus, and that was to apply your makeup so you could go out on stage and sing. Give the damn best performance of your life if you had to- “maybe… you shouldn't go up tonight. You look utterly exhausted.”
“I have to. It doesn't matter what I look like, with enough makeup and the distance of the seats the crowd won't be able to tell. The show must go on regardless of how I feel anyhow-” You state,
“Y/N-” they started, however you were quick to cut them off, tearing their hand away from you and backing up. You weren't strong enough to resist them, unless they were away from you. You backed yourself against your dressing room vanity, your hands on the edge, gripping it hard.
“Don't! Don’t try to convince me of anything else. I've decided that this is what i'm going to continue to do hange- and… and we cant be together anymore if i'm going to fulfill my dreams.” The desperateness could be clearly heard in your voice- that if you didn't say these things to them now you may never be able to. You were too tired to even try to cover it up as well, thinking it didn't even matter given Hange had seen you at your worst before.
“Please… you are destroying yourself, can't you see?” they sounded so broken, so hurt and desperate. You wanted to embrace them, tell them it would be ok, but the truth is you were no longer the person you were when you stepped foot on the island. You had learned the ways of your art, the things you would have never achieved back in Marley, or with Zeke or your grandparents. No-
You were better.
“I would have thought you of all people would have understood Hange…” Your voice is almost unheard. Though you knew they had heard you, and they had to have understood you, Afterall you knew better, you knew they would also sacrifice everything for their cause, for the people of Paradise. And you would sacrifice your very being, just to be heard. To be remembered as the most delicate singer in Paradis history, even if that meant leaving them. Even if that meant their, and your own happiness. For what other contentment could you feel besides the one that stemmed from music?
“I…” they were silent for a moment, recollecting their words and thoughts, unsure of how to approach the situation. You could see the realization of failure, of loss in their face as they give up on their attempts to stop you. “I love you.”
And that's it. Your whole world stopped at that moment. You blame yourself for letting them get this close to you in the first place, because you knew. You knew that you would love and value your art, above anyone. Above them. And it wasn't fair to them.
“I'm sorry…But you can't.” you shake your head and look away from them. You can't bear to see their face in pain anymore, knowing you caused it.
“...I know…” They looked down, and placed the flowers that they had brought off to the side, on an empty desk. “I'm sorry too Y/N.” and with that they were gone.
You felt too numb to cry. Too numb to do anything. You had just let go of the person who had meant more to you than anyone could. And you knew you would never love another like them ever again, but you did what you had to. For their sake and yours.
You could hear a voice down the hallway, screaming 5 more minutes until the start of the show, and so you swiftly gathered yourself together- as much as you could, and exited your room, making your way towards the staircase which would lead you right to the stage. Your dress shimmered in the lowlights behind the curtain.
I'll write to zeke after this is over- he’ll most certainly be pleased to hear of my choice. You think to yourself as the curtains open, and as usual, you are met with a packed theater. People dressed in all sorts of outfits, sitting, and watching your every move.
The notes tumble from your mouth, having a mind of their own as the melody starts. You’ve rehearsed it almost a thousand times, know the song by heart, as it was picked with the idea that you would be able to dedicate it to a certain commander. However this song now represented all that could not be between the two of you…
◤─────•~❉᯽❉~•─────◥
Who knows when love begins?
Who knows what makes it start?
One day it's simply there
Alive, inside your heart
It slips into your thoughts
It infiltrates your soul
It takes you by surprise
Then seizes full control
Try to deny it and try to protest
But love won't let you go
Once you've been possessed
Love never dies
Love never falters
Once it has spoken
Love is yours
Love never fades
Love never alters
Hearts may get broken
Love endures
Hearts may get broken
Love endures-
◣─────•~❉᯽❉~•─────◢
The song wasn't done though- but you stopped and took sight of the hooded figure that approached the stage, dressed in black, and pulled something out from their cloak. The whole world then seemed to move in slow motion. You felt something hit you like a sack of bricks, and then another, and then you were falling. Why were you on the floor?
You gingerly touched your stomach where you had felt the pain at first, not horrified at the stain of crimson that painted your hand, and was soon soaking your once pristine white dress. You had seen and become quite acquainted with the color, smiling softly as you heard screams from the audience, and the sounds of more gunshots. But you were fulfilled, a feeling you thought you would never achieve, though you had been wrong. All it took was…
That's it. You had been perfect. You had become the perfect singer, something nobody would ever forget. I will die Young and Beautiful- Be remembered as such.
You saw from the corner of your eyes Hange being held back from running to your side, pushing away Armin and Levi, all just to reach you. The warmth of their hand stroking your cold cheek as all the color faded from it and exited where the two holes in your abdomen were.
“H-Hange… Did I do it? Was I good enough?”
“You were stunning darling. Please, just stay with me a little while longer, help is coming-” Their voice faded in and out of your hearing, as the persistent screams in the background made it harder and harder to hear them.
“I-” You felt yourself become extremely tired suddenly ‘I'm really tired Hange. I'm tired.”
“You need to stay with me- You can't sleep yet dear.” They pulled your head onto their lap, stoking the strands that had fallen from your pinned up hair, brushing some of them away from your face. Tears were present in their eyes, and you wished you had the strength to wipe them away.
You moved your focus away from their gaze, as it wandered to the burning lights that continued to focus on your dying body. Nobody remained in the theater any longer, meaning your performance was now brought to a completion, you could now fade away as you had always meant to. And as you stared into the bright stage light, you wondered why it seemed to fog your entire vision.
End.

Sat by the water close to the embers
Missing out the lives that they once had before”

“And what happens after that?” A small face looked up as she tugged on the apron of her mother. She couldn't clearly remember what her mothers face looked like, so she roughly filled in the gaps.
“Well… that's up for you to imagine Y/N. It is your favorite story after all, so I feel it's only right for you to decide what happens.” Her mother looked down at her softly, before putting away the last of the dishes they had used for supper that night.
“Well, I'm not deciding if it's based on a true story! I know what happens next, but I like to hear it from you.” Y/N admitted, looking down now at her shoes.
Her mother gave a small chuckle “yes well, the man and his wife ended up settling down in a small town inside wall maria, that sits beside a quaint river, and had a daughter.” she closed her eyes, as if remembering it as if it were long ago.
“Do you ever regret it? Leaving wall sina?” Y/N asked. Her little voice almost made her mothers heartache. Could Y/N have had a better life if her mother had stayed? She would never know.
“No. I was able to marry your father, and we were able to live a quiet life, away from the chaos of politics and greedy men.” She said firmly, as she leaned down to pick up Y/N and carry her.
“I miss daddy.”
“I know. I do too. He died a hero though.” Y/N’s mother laid Y/N down in her bed and tucked her in. “He was able to do what many cannot say they have done. Seen sights that others haven't. He lived a life to the fullest, and loved you with all his heart. What was there to regret? He now sleeps eternally, in peace.” Y/N’s mother always had such a way with words, it was no wonder she had been able to make a living for the both of them. Her father had been a scout with the scout regiment, and after 11 long years of service, had been killed on an expedition outside the walls. After her fathers death, Y/N’s mother had become a writer to be able to provide for herself and Y/N, and surprisingly, many of the people within the walls valued her work, especially her poetry. It was enough of a living that Y/N’s mother was not only able to support them, but she had also been adamant about her daughter's education as a result.
Looking back on it now, her mothers stories and voice were the only things she had taken and cherished from her childhood. It wasn't too long after that memory that Y/N’s mother had become gravely sick, and left her daughter not only enough of a fortune to support herself before she became an adult, but an orphan.
Oh how long ago that all seemed. Left to the cold and harsh realities, Y/N had come to familiarize herself with the world.

But why decide to look back on it now? That's a question Y/N had been asking herself for the past 5 minutes.
It could be the wedding jitters.
Yes, that's it. This was a big day. She was to be married to Squad leader Hange zoe after all.
Never in a million years did Y/N suspect that this day would come, especially after joining the scouts. In all honesty, she thought she would end up meeting the same fate as her father, albeit a bit sooner. But to her surprise, soon after joining, she was placed in hange’s group and everything after that was soon just history.
Y/N’s mind returns as she feels something placed in her hair.
“And there! Something blue!” Petra exclaimed as she looked at Y/N in the mirror, admiring her work.
Y/N sat and stared at herself in the mirror, hands in her lap. She wore her mothers old wedding dress, which she had returned home for, very shortly granted, to pick up. Her shoes she had commissioned from a shoe tailor with the bit of money her mother had set aside for this day, light gray flats that were made of fine satin, that fit her foot very comfortably. She would never wear the shoes again, only for this occasion, but she found them pretty to stare at, the way they shined in certain lighting. Y/N had borrowed one of Petra’s necklace, a beautiful diamond one, that sat across her neck, and matched her shoes almost perfectly. And finally, the Blue Gemmed hair pin, that held her hair, was gifted as an engagement gift from Hange themselves. They said they saw it in a shop and automatically thought of Y/N.
Something old,
Something new,
Something borrowed,
Something blue,
As the saying goes.
“Come on, we should get going before we are late. Wouldn't want to leave Hange waiting after all.” Petra gathered Y/N’s cape as she stood up, and walked towards petra.
“Oh shut up.”
Petra laughed as she placed the green cape over Y/N’s shoulders and walked with her out the door. Y/N and petra also didn't have to worry about Y/N being seen by Hange or anyone else since it was most likely everyone was already at the service or preparing for it, and Y/N had been adamant about Hange staying in a different section of the building, to make sure they didn't see her before hand. It was also most likely they were already at the service themselves, waiting for her like Petra had earlier suggested.
“I-I'm nervous Petra…” Y/N admitted.
Petra placed a hand on Y/N’s shoulder, looking at her with a gentle look. “They love you Y/N, there's nothing to be nervous about. You make a perfect team.” Petra gave Y/N a nod, and walked in front of her, to the set of double doors. “I'll meet you out there, ok?” Y/N gave a small nod back as she stood to the side and watched Petra walk through the doors before her.
Y/N waited 20 seconds, before she heard her cue to enter, the doors opening before her, as she walked down the aisle.
Many eyes turned to her, making her even more nervous than she was before, though all of that seemed to disappear as she looked at hange. How could she have had doubts before? They looked dashing right now, and Y/N could see the rest of her life with them already, no matter how short or long of a time they may have.
Hange equally felt all of their nerves ease, watching Y/N walk down the aisle, her green cape over her shoulders, the stray pieces of hair that fell from the gathered hair in the back. And that's when they noticed it: the Blue gemmed Hairpin they had given her a few weeks back.
Y/N walked slowly down the aisle, before reaching them, and Hange just couldn't help holding her arms in theirs. The Officiant of the wedding seemed a bit surprised by the close standing of Y/N and Hange as they both turned to him. He didn't think twice as he carried on with the ceremony.
Yes, it had all come together, quite beautifully too. Though the hall where it was being held was just the dining hall, and the after ceremony was just the scouts heading outdoors and enjoying their regular food there, it was a celebration to be remembered.
The ceremony itself was resolved quickly with Y/N and Hange saying “I do.” to one another, and sealing it with a kiss in front of their friends and comrades.

Mr. and Mrs., dreamed of a willow
Carving their names, into their willow
If he had spoken, love would return
Spoken inside, too soft to be heard
Summers and winters, through snowy Decembers
Sat by the water, remembering embers
Missing out the lives that they once had before

Y/N and Hanges honeymoon had consisted of a trip to Y/N’s small town, where she had grown up. Despite joining the survey corps, she had kept her family's home, not only because it acted as a shed of sorts where she stored all of her parents and now her possessions, but because she couldn't find it in herself to let it go.
What had made Y/N want to go back over so many years, she wasn't exactly sure of it. It was the season between fall and winter, and expeditions and training had slowed down with the start of the snow. It wasn't like her hometown was exactly memorable or perfect during this time of year. She hadn't even been serious in suggesting it when they were talking about where they would go for their honeymoon, she had just suggested it since it had popped into her head.
“We could always go to my hometown.” Y/N blurted out. “I mean, it's not exactly pretty this time of year, but where it's located, we wouldn't be bothered. It is at least a day's journey by horse however since it's near the ehrmich district.” She winced at that.
“That sounds perfect! I'm sure the countryside is beautiful with the snow covering it, and we can always try to request leave during the summer in the future to see it during that season too.” Hange suggested, with Y/N sighing with the idea of relaxing with her spouse. They were always able to see the good in everything.
“Yea, it is.”
And so that's how they found themselves visiting her hometown.
It had been a long journey, with them stopping at an inn for the night before arriving after another 3 hours of horseback. It was mid day by the time they arrived at her house. It was just as Y/N had remembered leaving it, in a hurry to start her adventure as a soldier. It was long before she knew what was in store for her, and had met hange.
Y/N opened the creaky door and walked inside her childhood home, dusty, but still intact and just as she had left it. Books were strewn across several counter spaces and tables, and Y/N would no doubt force herself and her new spouse to spend the night cleaning up rather than ‘sharing’ a bed with one another. As Y/N set their stuff down near a chair that overlooked outdoors, she caught a glance of a familiar sight.
The old willow tree. The one from the story her mother would tell her.
The willow even looked the same, she reminisced her memories as her mother chased little Y/N around the house, and near the tree. The tree itself sat barely on the edge of where the river met land, a bit further down hill than where Y/N’s house sat, to ensure that if it ever flooded, it wouldn't damage the house itself.
“What is it Y/N?” Hange took notice of Y/N’s quietness and looked over their wife's head at what she was staring at. “Ah! We should go check it out! We can come back and put our stuff away later.” They pulled on her hand before she could try and talk some sense into Hange, and just let them lead her.
Their hands were rough, but warm and firm in her hand, she noticed, as it contrasted with the cold air around them.
“It's my parents initials.” Y/N muttered softly to Hange. She didn't look at them, but instead traced her hand along the old, worn cuts and lines that showed her parents' mark.
G.H+L.C
“They loved each other so much.” She paused “and they lived such happy lives… before they died.” Y/N didn't deluge too much into her parents' story with Hange since they had already heard it. They gently placed their hand over hers, which so happened to be their ring hand.
“Then it seems only tradition that we continue with that bit of luck.” Hange suggested. The idea did bring joy to Y/N’s soul. Her and Hanges initials, immortalized through the bark of the tree. To be looked back on from future generations, and hopefully be reminded of the love that Y/N and Hange had.
Y/N couldn't help the tears that were brought to her eyes, startling Hange for a second, before seeing her soft smile, and smiling themselves.
“Yes. Let's do it.”
And so Hange took out their pocket knife and carved their initials first, before handing it over to Y/N, and allowing her to carve hers, next. Y/N returned the knife, but then Hange got the idea, and quickly drew one more thing where their initials laid.
A small heart over the plus sign.
H.Z+(F/I) (L/I)
It was perfect to Y/N. This was the part where she wanted to end the story, With the happiness and bliss of their union.
No more suffering.
No more death.
Just herself, Hange and the willow tree.

Several years later
With all that's happened in the past few years, Y/N and hange were now finally able to live their lives according to how they saw fit. The only question was, where would they go? What would they do now? They had devoted their very hearts to humanity, only to be met with hurt and trauma. It was time the two of them settled down for good.
“Where will we go? Most of the cities are destroyed from the rumbling.” Hange said “Besides, I don't think I want to return for a good while to where everyone else will be.”
“What about my home town? It resided in Wall Rose, right near the river. It was so peaceful. And I doubt there will be anyone living in it, given that many are either still recovering from the rumbling, or have moved away from it in favor of the bigger cities and more supplies.” Y/N suggested.
“That's not a terrible idea actually… With the river, we would be able to fish, and the soil near the river must be great for planting and farming.” Hange said, thinking it over. “I think it would be the perfect place to start over.” They looked at her softly, as they held Y/N’s hands with their own, the both of their rings touching.

Several years more
“Y/N!” Hange called out, their hat almost flying off of them before they swiftly caught it with their left hand and secured it on their head. Their right hand had been occupied with the hand of a smaller human.
Nanami.
It had been at least 3 years since they had decided to move to Y/N’s hometown, and settled down. Just as Y/N had predicted, her village had been entirely abandoned when they had arrived, leaving her and hange to use the land to be able to feed themselves. It was rather interesting how much more free time they had had since retiring from the survey corps, and not having to constantly worry about death.
The snow of winter had long since melted, leaving the pleasant breeze of spring.
They had decided to adopt one of the orphaned children out of the many that were left behind with the rumbling. With all of their extra time, and finally deciding to settle down, it seemed not only the next step, but somethingY/N felt in her heart call out for her. Once she had seen Nanami as they had passed on their way to her hometown, she knew her heart would beat for her just as much as it did for Hange.
That is how Hange currently waited outside, with their and Y/N’s daughter, Nanami, waiting for Y/N to join them for their picnic under the shade of the willow.
“Why does mommy take so long?” Nanami looked up to hange, as she held on tightly to their hand, acting as if she was afraid to be carried away by the wind herself.
“Your mother has always been bad with time-” hange shook their head before a familiar voice pierced their conversation
“Hey! I heard that!” Nanami giggled as Y/N finally emerged from the house in a white dress. “It's not my fault I have such picky eaters!” She carried the basket of food with her, as she finally walked down the small hill and met with them.
“On the contrary, I am not the picky one- I would eat anything and everything you put in front of my face, with no questions.” Hange wrapped a hand around Y/N’s waist and kissed her.
Nanami broke out into another giggle as she looked at her parents.
“What are you laughing at?” Y/N handed the basket to Hange, as she looked down to their daughter. “I'll give you a 5 second head start before I start chasing…”
“5”
“4”
This caused Nanami to sprint the rest of the way down the hill, beelining for the area of the willow.
“3”
“2”
“1!” With that Y/N ran down the hill after her daughter, chasing her, yet making sure to never catch her no matter how close she got, allowing for Nanami to think she was winning.
Hange starred as they walked down the rest of the hill, making it to the willow tree and setting up, so that once Nanami and Y/N calmed down and realized they were hungry, the food would be ready.
They couldn't believe how lucky they had become. The life they were able to have now.
Did they truly deserve this kind of happiness, when so many of their friends' lives had been taken? Being able to grow old with their wife and child? They didn't know.
They would allow for the willow to hold all of their doubts though as they stole a small bite out of Y/N’s sandwich.
Finally, Y/N and Nanami sat down and decided to start eating their lunch, with Y/N not uttering a single complaint at the bite that seemed to be missing from her sandwich.
“Mommy?” Nanami looked to Y/N, finishing her food and sitting crisscrossed against the tree. “You said you grew up here as a little girl right? Can you tell me a story about it?”
Y/N smiled softly, sighing and beginning the lifetime story that would hopefully be repeated throughout generations:
“Down by the water, under the willow
Sits a lone ranger, minding the willow
He and his wife, once lived happily
Planted a seed that grew through the reeds…”
Reflecting over not only what her mothers story had been, but what Y/N’s had luckily become as well.

Just A Game
Hello everyone, I recently posted about how my requests are open here on tumblr. Well here is one of my works that I wrote a few years back and I’m posting here on Tumblr.
Pairing: Hange Zoë x Reader
Word count: 4.2k
Warnings and tags: no warnings
Based on "Just a game" By Birdy
Marleyan reader X Hange Zoë
I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
╔════▣◎▣════╗
I don't know where I am
I don't know this place
Don't recognize anybody
Just the same old empty face
╚════▣◎▣════╝
YEAR 851
Great things were expected of (Y/N) (L/N) from a young age. How could they not, given who and what she is.
Yes. Y/N was from Marley, an Eldian soldier, who had served her country for a long time. Almost 15 years at this point. Though that couldn't count for much, given that out of those 15 years, she had been trapped on this island for 6 years.
6 years of not being able to see her friends and family.
6 years of performing for the enemy, in hopes that there would be a better future and liberty for the people of eldia residing in marley. That she might be free from her ancestors' past.
But those hopes and dreams had been dashed almost a year ago, with Reiner escaping, Bertholdt being eaten and Annie crystallizing herself to prevent herself from being captured.
She was all that was left. She was alone.
It hasn't always been this way though. No. She had come here to be a chaperone, a sort of adult figure to help aid the young titan shifters on their journey. It's true, she didn't possess any shifting powers of her own, but she had worked with the military and knew enough about it to be able to be trusted with this mission.
(Y/N) looked in the mirror as she tuck a stray hair back into the neat ponytail she had placed it in prior, and then stared into her own eyes. She had hardly recognized herself. She was once considered a beauty back in marley- she wondered what she could have ended up doing with her life.
She loved kids, maybe she could have been a nanny to a rich family. Or perhaps married a decent person, and settled down. Maybe it was her ambition's fault that she was here in the first place. After all, it wasn't like it was her parents or anyone else who had pushed her into this position. It was her own fault.
“That's enough self loathing for today.” She says as she pulls back, and without looking at herself again, she quickly strap on her ODM gear, and makes her way out her door.
╔════▣◎▣════╗
See these people they lie, and I don't know
Who to believe any more
╚════▣◎▣════╝
╔════▣◎▣════╗
But there comes you to keep me safe from harm
There comes you to take me in your arms
Is it just a game?
I don't know
╚════▣◎▣════╝
There was only one person whom (Y/N) trusted with her life, with her very soul even- They had a pull on her since she had joined the Scouts.
“Y/N!”
She turns around quickly, her eyes brightening as she spots the figure of her previous thoughts.
It was none other than Hange Zoë.
The sun from the window to their left illuminated their brown hair, and face, making them look absolutely heavenly.
(Y/N) had tried to tell herself that this was wrong. Her feelings towards them were absolutely horrid, and could get her called a traitor and killed back in marley. That didn't matter though. She knew if anyone back in Marley ever found out about her and hange, she would gladly die a thousand deaths for them.
They crossed the hallway quickly, looking around before pulling (Y/N) away from the hallway, and into a smaller, more narrow passageway off to the side, to make sure no one interrupted them.
“Hange.” (Y/N) whispered. She never whispered to them because she was afraid to get caught though, she whispered because she thought only they were worthy of her words. Her very thoughts, hell her very being.
“I missed you last night. It was rather lonely to work on paperwork without my helper.” They said, the sadness evident in their tone. (Y/N) must admit, she missed it as well. The ambiance of their room, them working on paperwork while she sorted it, it had become a domestic moment for just the two of them.
“I'm sorry. I really needed to go over some drills with my group though before bed.” True- (Y/N) had become a section commander almost a year ago, after the battle of shiganshina, and so now she had her own soldiers to look after once more. And if she was being honest, they reminded her of the kids she used to train back in Marley. The kids who had dreamed of being part of the military, much like herself, from a young age, to bring their family’s honor.
“I can't blame you. It's been busy lately, with the Marleyan volunteer soldiers here and all.” they sighed, as they pulled her into a hug, gently brushing the end of her hair with their fingers. She breathed in their scent, the familiar notes of jasmine, as she laid her head on their shoulder.
And she had selfish thoughts as they hugged her, with her face buried in their neck.
She could save them.
Only them.
Her and Hange could both escape together. Go back to Liberio, as a hero, with her partner by her side. Start a new life, quit the military, open up a shop perhaps.
What kind? It didn't matter. It never mattered, as long as she would be with her beloved.
She knew they would never go for it though. In fact she knew they would be repulsed by what her mind told her. They would call her evil, heartless, a demon. They would leave her. So she kept her mouth shut. She kept her selfish, yet calming thoughts to herself.
“My dear, we should head to breakfast.” they whispered into her ear. Almost light enough that if she hadn't always hung onto whatever they said, that she wouldn't have heard it.

(Y/N) didn't want to but she nodded and let go of the grip she had on Hange. She didn't even realize that she was holding onto them so tightly, but apparently she was.
“Yes, let's go to breakfast… Before Sasha eats it all.” (Y/N) had joked as she took a step back, still keeping one hand on Hanges' arm as the both of them walked. The both of them had long since stopped receiving stares at them anyways.
She was after all Hange’s Fiance.

FLASHBACK: YEAR 850
A memory, from what felt like a lifetime ago, but was only 1 year ago. (Y/N) remembers it because it was before everything turned upside down. It was before so many lives were lost at the Battle of Shiganshina.
Historia had just been crowned queen and so many were celebrating. It was a turning point for the people of the walls, hopefully for the better. Someone of true royal blood was now back on the throne, and would support the survey corps efforts to reclaim Shiganshina and all of Wall Maria, which would not be easy.
(Y/N) was honestly worried for that day. Not for the fighting part, but she knew what the battle would bring. She remembered seeing Zeke, back during the sightings of titans in wall rose, and she knew she would have to pick a side, choose who she would become, and what her future held.
Glory or Love.
But for now, she focused on the brunette taking her hand, and leading her away from the celebrating crowds and drunk folk, dancing and partying. They led her to a park of sorts, that was placed inside the walls of sina, for the enjoyment of the people who lived there.
“Hange- as sweet as this is, shouldn't we be with our comrades?” (Y/N) asked, but chuckled as she asked, leading her to not sound as serious as she was being. She couldn't help it, seeing the excitement in her partner's eyes was more than enough to leave her happy.
“We can get back to them later- This is just time for me and you.” Hange didn't look at (Y/N) until they finally made it to the spot they had already pre planned to take her to.
“What's all this?”
“(Y/N), there is something I need to talk to you about, well ask you really.” Hange again avoided eye contact with (Y/N) and that started to worry her.
“Ok….?”
“I… I'm not good at this.” They breathed in a deep breath and then faced (Y/N) “(Y/N) (L/N), these past 3 years have truly been the best years of my life. We have both been through so much heartache and experienced so much sadness, but I also know that ive felt some of the most thrilling and exciting moments with you. I love you, more than anyone or anything in this world, and would like for nothing else but to call you my wife.”
Oh. OH.
(Y/N) was a bit slow but now she realized where this was going.
“I could never forgive myself if I didn't make that known now, before this happy moment is gone. So (Y/N), will you marry me?” They pulled out a small box, opening the top to reveal a simple and modest silver ring.
“Hange… You idiot-” Hange faltered before (Y/N) looked up at them with a small smile and tears in her eyes, she then threw herself at hange. “Yes. I'll marry you. Someone has to keep you safe after all”
And that moment was forever saved in (Y/N)’s memories.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end sooner or later.
It had been a week since Hange had proposed to (Y/N). (Y/N) was in the room with Queen Historia, Erwin, Hange and Levi, who were reviewing the plan to take back Shiganshina that would happen in two days. She was a squad leader after all, it would only make sense for her to also know what was happening, though if she was being honest, she had been playing with her ring the whole time.
The meeting was coming to a close, which she was glad about since she was currently hungry and would like nothing more than to grab something to eat with her fiance, before hange stopped Historia, Erwin and Levi.
“(Y/N) you go on ahead, I need to talk to them about something.”
Which confused (Y/N). And they were acting shady, but she ignored it. She figured they would tell her later.
“Ok, I'll Make sure to save you some food” (Y/N) smiled before leaving the room, and heading to the dining hall.
And sure enough, they had told her later.
“You asked for what!?” (Y/N) couldn't help but yell at Hange as they tried to explain the situation
“I asked for you to be left behind while the rest of the scouts go to shiganshina.” They stated again, calmly.
“Hell no! You are going, so I am going. End of discussion.” (Y/N) pushed on, this was not something she would drop.
“(Y/N) please listen- I'm not going to lose you. I'm not going to risk it!” Hange argued back. It was obvious neither was going to let the other decide what would happen, and so hange did what they had to.
“As your section commander, you are to stay in Trost while we go to shiganshina. If these commands are not followed (Y/N) you will be punished and handled accordingly.” Hange declared, while (Y/N) stared them down. There was no fighting with that, and so (Y/N) did the only thing she could do, she stormed out of their room, to go sleep in a different one. She couldn't share a bed with them that night.
And she ended up regretting it, in the long run.
Her refusal to sleep with hange hadn't made a slight difference. Their order still stood, and so on the day that they rode out, she was left looking out through one of the windows, watching the way their ponytail swayed as they rode away.
(Y/N) waited days for their return. Always staying near the window, working on Hanges paperwork for them, writing letters of what she was doing during the day to show Hange when they returned, And sleeping by the window, in case they came back during the night.
Finally she did see a horse.
Though instead of the expected, large group of the scouts, she saw only the small group, and her heart dropped.
That was until she noticed a familiar figure enter through the gates.
That's when (Y/N) lept out of her seat and bolted through the door, spilling her tea onto her papers in the process. Racing down the stairs through the empty building.
“HANGE!” She yelled as she reached outside, and she could see them clearly as they dismounted their horse. The bandages around their face, worried (Y/N), but she was already jumping into their arms, that they had held out for her.
“(Y/N)-” they breathed out, holding onto her for all they could. Like she was a figment of their imagination. “Let's go inside.”
“Y-yes, lets.” She agreed quickly, leading hange in as the remainder of the group unloaded their horses.
As soon as they entered their room though, (Y/N) started to cry. Too many emotions were racing through her head, as hange recapped what had taken place in Shiganshina and what they had found.
“It turns out we aren't the only ones out there (Y/N).” They said grimly. (Y/N) didn't say anything, as she looked down at the floor as they held her, more tears started to stream from her face, as she realized what this would mean.
“Im glad-” they whispered, wiping a tear from her face, before it could fall off and land on their shirt. “That you weren't there. I don't know what I would have done… if you…” They didn't need to say anymore, (Y/N) understood them.
“Hange, we were supposed to be in this together.” (Y/N) rested her head on their shoulder gently, the tears still falling. Hange combed through (Y/N)’s hair.
“They are all gone (Y/N). Moblit. Everyone under my command. They are all gone.” Hange didn't look at (Y/N) as they held her hand tightly “Please, Please don't leave me.”
“I'll be here hange. Forever.” (Y/N) reassured them “I'll always be here.”

To keep you safe from my world
╚════▣◎▣════╝
(Y/N) laid in hanges bed. This was the usual way of things, with her moving all of her possessions (which were not very much) into hanges room. It would only make sense, given that she was there almost every day at this point, and they were going to be married.
Death had clung to both (Y/N) and hanges memories, and so now the only thing they could do was to cling to each other, in hopes that even for a few hours, they could sleep peacefully. The memories would never go away though, they would always remain. And the both of them were so accustomed to death, that they didn't even try to hide from it.
Though even as Y/N held Hange close to her, with their face pressed against her chest, hiding the side of their face where their eye was damaged, she couldn't help but feel a pain in her heart.
They trusted her so much. They loved someone like her, so much. She had caused so many of the deaths of the people in the wall, only for her to end up in the bed of one.
Hange truly deserved better than (Y/N).
And so she had decided from that point forward, she would make sure they never knew of her past. Of what she had become. She would protect them, forever.
She would make sure that the cruelty and darkness of her past would never touch their light.

FLASHBACK: YEAR 847
One of (Y/N)’s warmest memories consisted of when she was just a scout and hange was a section commander. Things were so calm back then, with the biggest concern being titans.
Things had been going smoothly for (Y/N), Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt. With the three titan shifters beginning their training and joining the 104th training corps.
Meanwhile, (Y/N) was on the right hand side of section commander Hange Zoë. Quite literally too, being entrusted to join their group and quickly rising the ranks on the scouts side, as one of the best soldiers. When people had asked exactly what had been driving her, she would always give the same dull answers:
“To become better.”
“To protect the people inside the walls”
“Ambition.”
All hollow answers that made her appear like a hero to those people who called her friend.
But then there was Hange. And they could see right through her lies- They could see her, even when she couldn't.
It had been just a simple evening, the night (Y/N) and Hange had both realized they had a special connection, the fireplace illuminating (Y/N)’s work space, as another candle burned where Hange was sitting. Then out of the blue, their head turned towards her, and the fated question fell from their lips:
“I've been wondering, why did you decide to join the scouts in the first place (Y/N)?” They asked. (Y/N) turned to face them, a bit caught off guard by the question and suddenly of it. So she said what everyone around her had praised her for.
“I want to protect those who live in the walls. And the only way to do that would be to venture outside the walls and stop whatever threat lays there.” The words fell from her mouth, so rehearsed.
A normal person would have left it at just that, however Hange Zoë was far from normal, and so they scoffed and put their pen down.
“Bullshit” they muttered “Please (Y/N), just tell me the truth. I'm tired of hearing heroic crap from soldiers.”
And for a minute, (Y/N) did wonder what her answer would be, if she was just a normal person. Well even if she was, she wouldn't be here.
“Well-” she lets out a sigh before answering “I think I joined because I wanted change. A change of scenery, a change in the way things are runned around her, inside the walls I mean, and a change in who I am as a person.” she replied and looked down. Now that she thought about it, those were all very selfish reasons to join. She was making it sound like she was doing it for herself more than for the people of the wall. Hange didn't seem to mind though, as they nodded and accepted the answer.
“I understand, it's not easy to admit something like that. But…” Hange paused and stood up. They walked over to (Y/N), and squatted down beside her, taking her hand, and holding it with both of theirs “It's true bravery that allows yourself to even admit something like that. Regardless of who you are doing it for, I can tell you truly care for the scouts, and are doing your best.”
And maybe some of that was true, not that (Y/N) would ever admit.
“You are an amazing scout and soldier, and I'm glad to have you on my team (Y/N).” and for one of the first times in her life, (Y/N) felt her stomach flutter and her heart break all at the same time. Because she knew.
She knew she had fallen for them.
And they had fallen for her.
And it was a beautiful, silent mutual understanding, that they would both be by each other's sides until the very end.
Just as quickly as the conversation had been, Hange had taken hold of (Y/N)’s face, bringing it close and kissing her.
╔════▣◎▣════╗
Blow a kiss to the crowd
They're our only hope now
╚════▣◎▣════╝
YEAR 851
And indeed later that year, (Y/N) and hange were married, with almost all three branches in attendance.
The crowd that surrounded the both of them as they rode, cheered them on.
This crowd, full of what (Y/N) had grown up learning, was the enemy. The very people who caused her friends and family to end up in the internment camp in the first place. Who lived ignorant lives, of what their past ancestors had done.
Something about it grated at (Y/N), mostly because they had been able to escape the burden that she was forced to live with.
But she couldn't help but feel that hatred softened as she continued pass them. They were here for her and hange, they were happy and excited about their union.
And for one of the first times since she had left her home, (Y/N) truly felt that these were her people, people who looked up to her and cared about her.
She just might belong here.
╔════▣◎▣════╗
And now I know my place
And now I know my place
╚════▣◎▣════╝
YEAR 854
Yes, (Y/N) was now back home. Back in Liberio. Though this was no celebration, she would be sending her friends and family to their deaths. This would be it, it was time for her to decide who she is. Would she remain the loyal Marlean soldier, or turn against all she has ever known, to be with the one she loves?
There was no choice. There never was- and that made her sad. (Y/N) threw on her gear, loading her titan missiles and ODM gear.
She passed a shiny piece of metal that was so clean, it reflected. And she paused for just a moment, seeing her face.
And finally, she could recognize herself in it.
(Y/N) Zoë.
The woman who had been born in the year 827.
Who had been raised by a loving mother and a doting father, whose names were long gone from her mind.
The woman who had been a soldier and spy for marley, leading a group of kids to commit genocide on people who share the same blood as them.
The woman who would marry and love an enemy, all up until she breathed her last breath.
“(Y/N) Zoë will do as she is told, and return to her Spouse.” She said to herself, saying it like a declaration, a promise.
And she did not break promises.
╔════▣◎▣════╗
We're all just pieces in their games
╚════▣◎▣════╝
The destruction of Liberio passed underneath (Y/N), with her turning her head away from it all to avoid seeing those whom she once loved, dead.
What was another few hundred to her tally of how many people she had killed? She was still alive, Hange was still alive, that was all that mattered. That was all that should matter anyways.
This was different though- she felt her throat closing up- and her hands shook. They shook in absolute fear at what she had done. What she had decided, had not only changed and altered the rest of her life, but for the lives of those who she had once considered friend, now turned supposed foe.
What made her feel worse? That she would have done everything, the killing, the betrayal, all again, just so she could rest her head on Hange Zoë’s shoulder, and have them brush her hair as she wept.
She was selfish.
She had barely looked up as she felt them press her head against their shoulder. It had caught her off guard, and was a bit uncomfortable, given the both of them were still in their equipment. But it was hange, and they were close, and so she would more than gladly accept them.
“I understand, it was hard for you.” Hange said, as they brushed through Y/N’s hairs. The familiarity of the action made Y/N want to lean more into them. But she couldn't, her pride wouldn't let her, not with the others around.
“I'm not sure why?” Y/N did what she does best. She lied. She lied and lied and lied to everyone, just to keep the beauty of their love and trust for her alive. “Its not like ive ever met those people, or knew them- it's stupid really. They deserved it given the fear and danger they put us in on the island-”
“(Y/N), stop please” Hange cut Y/N off as she tried to explain. “You don't need to lie anymore, I already know who you are, and why you came to the island 9 years ago-”
(Y/N) couldn't help but be a little more selfish. She felt the end coming, yet she still stood there, pressing her face into hanges neck and breathing in their sweet scent of jasmine.
End

Hello, my name is Aaliyah and I post on Archive of our own and Wattpad a few of my Fanfics (username: 5_Aaliyah_5)!
I’ve recently moved onto this app because I use it all the time, and actually previously had an account, but was terrible about posting on it and eventually deleted it. I’m adding both of my most popular fanfics onto here as well as my smaller ones. I will also be taking writing prompts/requests!
I love writing requests as it gives me ideas of what to write about and helps me improve my writing skills. So please feel free to send me anything (specifically about Attack on Titan for now…)
