Introducing Our Easy Scoring System! 🧙‍♂️🎯
Tumblr media
🚫 Disclaimer: No need to stress about accumulating points like a maniac and forgetting the main focus – practicing the language!
Forget about complex rules – simply count your words!
For each word you write, you earn 1 point, which we'll call "w". Then,
If you write 100 words = that's 100 points – or should I say, 100w!
And as you make progress, you'll reach different levels:
Level 1: You're there when you hit 500 words!
Level 2: 1,250 words!
Level 3: 2,500 words!
Level 4: 5,000 words!
Level 5: 12,000 words!
Level 6: 24,000 words!
Level 7: 36,000 words!
Level 8: 48,000 words!
This is just the start, and I'd love to hear what you think 🙏
Happy writing! zakokor 🕶️

📣 65Words' March Roadmap
Hey, big thanks to everyone who jumped into the poll and helped me pick out the next cool feature for March! 🙌 Appreciate your input!
Here's what I'll be working on in March!
Let's check out the poll results:
⬜⬜⬜⬜ 30.8% I want to see the corrections I've made to others' writing ✍️
⬜⬜ 15.4% Sync account on multiple devices 📱
⬜⬜ 15.4% Prompts ✨
⬜⬜ 15.4% Writing Streak 🏆
⬜ 7.7% Points system: 1 point/day; 2 points if you wrote yesterday 💎
⬜ 7.7% Save draft 💾
⬜ 7.7% Multiple languages per day 🌍
Based on the poll results, it seems that this time the feedback was quite varied and unclear. Therefore, this month I'll focus on enhancing the "Writing archive" page to display the corrections that users have made to others' writing.
On the other hand, before I saw those results, I knew how hard it is to think of what to write every day. So, I was busy working on the Prompt feature. It took a bunch of iterations, but it finally dropped last Sunday, and let me tell you, it's been a real hit! Every day, more and more folks are finding it incredibly useful. So Prompts is ✅.
Also, I'd like to work on a points system, even though it wasn't the top vote. The reasons are simple: I think it'll add gamification to the platform, which could be fun for those needing incentives to write daily and to form the habit. Plus, it's crucial for the platform as it could help fight spam in the future. As always, I'll aim to please everyone!
The truth is, there's still much to be done, and I'd like to take advantage of this month to focus on creating more content for the blog as well. Hopefully, this will continue to attract more users to the platform organically.
In summary, I'll be working on:
I want to see the corrections I've made to others' writing ✍️
Points system: 1 point/day; 2 points if you wrote yesterday 💎
Additionally, creating content for the blog 📰
Catch you later, Zakokor & Monkey 🕶️ 🐒

220 New Languages Available
Tumblr media
👋 Hey Amigos, it’s zakokor. I’m the solo developer of 65words.com, a challenge for writing 65+ words daily in the language you’re learning.
My goal is to make 65 Words accessible in as many languages worldwide as I can.
When I released 65 Words on December 28th, only Spanish and English could be selected. Over this month and a half, I started enabling more languages as they were requested, understanding if the requested language had words separated by a space (this is how I count the words). 🤫
I found that several users, unable to find their language, and especially those languages without "words" separated by spaces, selected English as the default language and still posted good writings, bypassing the 65 words counter by writing a period and a space.
And here I want to talk about this and ask: what is this all about? 🤔 And I think it's about an honor system. 🎖️ Really, anyone could imagine ways to bypass the 65 words, but they haven't because that's not what it's about. This is about meeting the challenge you have with yourself to expose yourself to the language daily and make the most of the experience. 💪📚
💭 I really don't want, and honestly don't expect, to have to make the system more restrictive. That would totally go against what I had in mind when I created 65 Words as a user-friendly tool. If it came to that, I might prefer to shut it down if there's no other way to keep things simple.
But let's get back to the title of this post!
I hope more people can write in a greater variety of languages, so starting this week, I've included a total of 220 languages. Many of them won't have the 65-word counter because the language doesn't really have "words" separated by spaces, and they'll have to use the honor system, but I hope over time to be able to enable an approximate counter as I already did for Chinese and Japanese. 🌟🤗
Keep the words flowing and the languages growing! Let's make 65 Words a global linguistic adventure! 🚀🌏
Best, Zakokor & Monkey 🐒

Lang-8.com alternative: Discover 65words.com
👋 Hey Amigos, it’s zakokor. I’m the solo developer of 65words.com, a challenge for writing 65+ words daily in the language you’re learning.
Recently, I stumbled upon Lang-8.com, a platform that has been serving language learners since 2007, recently announced the termination of its services by the end of February 2024. This news may leave many language enthusiasts searching for a new and effective way to continue their language learning journey.
I, personally, have never participated in Lang-8, but I believe that 65 Words can provide a welcoming space for language enthusiasts to continue their daily writing practice.
So, why choose 65words.com?
65 Words is a challenge for writing 65+ words daily in the language you’re learning and, it's simple: No sign-ups, no passwords to remember. Just browse 65words.com and start to write. ✍️
Next, you'll need to complete 65 words or more to be able to send your writing, and it's one writing per day, no more.
Why 65 words? Well, I've noticed that it's the perfect formula for you to achieve it every day. It doesn't require much time, and you can do it anytime, anywhere. In return, you'll benefit from being exposed to the language every day.
I think writing daily is a great exercise to keep your language skills on point, learn new vocab, and truly think in the language you're learning.
Regarding feedback, yep, we've got feedback too. But here's the real deal – when I cooked up 65words.com, my goal was to create a space where you can write fearlessly. Feedback is cool, but the main gig is embracing the language without the fear of making mistakes. Let's keep it real.
And you can be a superhero 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️ — I mean, you can share your writings anonymously, you can express yourself and make mistakes without fear, as all usernames are superhero-themed.
I hope you enjoy it! Visit 65words.com to start your daily 65+ words challenge.
Best, zakokor 🌟
